Ever thought of making your own #Alfredo sauce? I was always intimidated. Who knew it was this quick, easy and cheap? http://ow.ly/amEP30gTLS9 I love to be able to make quick, #easymeals #homemade The problem with this is the time and effort usually required to make everything from scratch. The way around this, of course, is to buy something pre-made, like, say a jar of spaghetti sauce or Alfredo sauce. This makes things easier, but I don't always like what I see when I look at the ingredient list on such jars, and it sort of defeats the purpose if I'm trying to eat food that is very fresh, right? So, for when I'm in a pinch or don't have anything home-made ready, I'll have a few jars of store-bought sauce on hand in my pantry. But when I have time I love to make these things fresh, if only because they taste so very good. One thing I love to make, and that is surprisingly easy to make, is #Alfredosauce . I was frustrated at the meager selection of Alfredo or any other “white” sauces I could find in the supermarket (and I never did find an #organic variety), but I had no idea how to make it. Once I looked for the recipe, I couldn't believe how quick and easy it was. And VitaClay makes it even easier! #Pho is an #exotic #Vietnamese #soup that has really great flavor. There are a lot of restaurants serving this tasty soup in these parts, but as with everything else, I’m never sure what exactly it’s made of. And with soup there is such an opportunity for deep #nutrition ! #Bonebroth is the base for all of my soups, and it is so healing and nourishing: it’s full of #minerals , #gelatin , #collagen and #aminoacids , not to mention calcium—which comes in a super-absorbable form. Gelatin is great for building strong cartilage and bones, and is also very soothing and healing for the digestive tract (which is why it is a main feature of the GAPS diet that focuses on healing the gut for healing other issues). I guess there’s a reason soup is so comforting and soothing when we feel sick or cold! Suitable for VF7700 & VM7900 series models. One thing I like to have on hand is frozen or refrigerated ravioli. Ravioli is delicious and it's so quick and easy, so I keep some in the freezer so I can heat it up and go. I sometimes even put it in school lunches. This quick and easy lasagna recipe is cool because it uses ravioli, so it's so much quicker than traditional lasagna, but with the same layering technique and the same general outcome. I love that it uses white sauce or red, because sometimes I'm just in the mood for that kind of creamy goodness. Barbecue sauce is good with almost any meat...save money and make your own nutritious BBQ sauce in VitaClay! Ingredients: 1 tablespoon bacon grease, walnut or coconut oil 1 large onion, finely chopped 3 tablespoons minced garlic 3 tablespoons honey 1 5-6 oz can tomato paste 1 cup chicken or beef broth 2 t mustard or ½ t mustard powder 2 tablespoons cider vinegar salt and pepper, to taste 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce; pinch cayenne pepper Directions: 1. Saute onion and garlic in oil until translucent, 3-5 minutes 2. Add this mixture to tomato paste and honey in the clay pot, stir. 3. Add all other ingredients, stirring until smooth. 4. Set to "stew" for 1 hour. 5. Serve, dip or jar. Keeps for 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator.
