Our instinct was to run but our feet hurt, so we took off our shoes

We found shelter under a building, so you can clean your glasses and make sure your phone wasn’t broken

You had no luck with your glasses and you couldn’t see

So, I led you through the park, carefully watching your step

We laughed endlessly

You said “I’m glad it’s late and this campus is empty because if it wasn’t they’d hate us”

We laughed more, almost slipping on the wet blacktop

We laughed and laughed, my favorite sound from you

I thought after about how perfect of a time it would’ve been to kiss you or hold your hand

But I think last night was just about getting caught in the rain, and caught up in you

Day 6463827 of me wishing that I was a little bit more like the woman I am inside my head. She is brave. She knows exactly what she wants and she is not afraid to communicate it. She pursues people she likes instead of pushing them away and she cuts off people who are no good for her instead of entertaining them. She is not afraid to pass a kind smile to strangers for no reason at all and she is not afraid to stand up against what she believes to be wrong. She is actually the bigger person, forgiving but not a fool. She is not scared of reaching out to people.

I wish I could be a bit more like her.
