My favourite underrated thing about Louis de Point du Lac is that he truly is the least curious vampire to ever be made and he does not give fuck about vampires despite being one.

Its Claudia who goes to libraries, reads the folklore, tries to learn as much as she can and pushes Lestat for answers about who made him and where the others are. Claudia says Vampire Pride and Louis says hmmm Vampire Tolerance.

And Louis...truly does not care about vampire history,law, culture. He's never even thought to ask. There are vampire laws?...ok...Lestat never cared about them and he's not going to either, lol. He's broken a few and he will continue to do so. Oh you have a coven? he's not gonna join it, he's gonna do his own thing. but good for you good for you.

the 500+ year old Coven Leader, he's gonna call Louis, Maitre, actually.

He has fire powers? thats kinda cool. he'll learn that but only cause it lets him vent his feelings about Lestat.

Lestat and Armand say the name of the vampire queen in front of him and Lestat straight up says, "Louis has no idea who that is" and do you think Louis cares, outside of the fact that for some reason it means he can't kill Lestat? No! Do you think in the 77 years he's been with Armand he ever took 5 minutes to ask a follow up question? No!

Do you think he will care about Akasha in season 3? Doubt it! Outside of her obsession with Lestat, who is the only person left on the planet he seems to be able to filter Caring About This Shit through

He blatantly breaks the 3rd law and publishes a book about being a vampire and when the other vampires get pissed not only does he not apologise he literally sends them his location and says 'you wanna fight? lmao don't miss'

I love him. Daniel Molloy is gonna need to bring his A game because Louis will not be solving a single mystery next season, nor would it even occur to him to try.

So yes. They're going full in, and though I (kinda) mourn "Andrei" I think "Arun" fits very well, and... well. That backstory apparently stays intact.

Which speaks volumes for the "rent boy" comment as said before, and actually Louis' profession in NOLA... that has to play into it all as well (not sure yet how, but... it's too connected to not matter, not in this show).

Also: Roget's apparently still works for them. AND there are "members with knowledge of".

Real Rashid being a double agent is actually the least surprising reveal of season 2 like if they really said: "this man's bosses gave him a week off so that one of them could larp as a servant while using rashids name and dressing in rashids clothes (but sluttier) exclusively to fuck with a Random Journalist who came for an interview" and then followed that up with rashid acting like everything was chill cool and normal until credits I'd be ringing the cinemasins bell like quasimodo no regular person would stick around after that shit it Could Not make sense unless he had an ulterior motive

The Talamasca and the publishing of the IWTV book (EP 2x06)

My eyes raised at what "Raglan James" (whom I still haven't ruled out actually being Marius yet) said about that. But the fact that they want the book published has me thinking . . . they might be a bit more involved in the working of this book than we've realized.

Because we know Daniel's research assistant is a woman. And I thought this when their gender was given last episode, but I'm thinking it even more now, that Daniel's assistant is actually Jesse Reeves.

We already know The Talamasca are getting their own show. Setting up Jesse's character now would be a perfect time to do so, especially given that -- in just one or two more episodes -- the show is going to be bereft of (living) female characters. Sure, we're going to get Gabrielle in Season 3, but we don't know if or when we'll see her in the present day. I think bringing in one of the female characters from the book into the modern-day part of the story would help to offset things in the modern-day part of the story too, and Jesse is the perfect character for that.

So yeah, I think Daniel's assistant is Jesse. She's helping with the research for the book -- and if you know about Jeese's reaction to the IWTV book in Queen of the Damned, that would be a little twist, but also a setup for later wrt her character too. But yeah, I think this is a small setup for Jesse, and I'm going to think that until proven otherwise.

my opinion on vamp daniel is that it might be partly serving as the show's version of the blood locket: a gift given to daniel by armand as a way to protect himself against any vampires that might come for him now after the book's been published

The following night, he'd given Daniel the locket, the amulet as he called it, to wear. He'd kissed it first and rubbed it in his hands as if to warm it. Strange to witness this ritual. Stranger still to see the thing itself with the letter A carved on it, and inside the tiny vial of Armand's blood. "Here, snap the clasp if they come near you. Break the vial instantly. And they will feel the power that protects you. They will not dare-" "Ah, you'll let them kill me. You know you will," Daniel had said coldly. Shut out. "Give me the power to fight for myself."
