THE SIMS + Seasons

Ever since yesterday's SimTuber's live stream, I'm trying to find the dog that could be downloaded to The Sims 1 game way before The Sims: Unleashed came out.

It had no walk animation whatsover, with the dog in question just gliding on the floor. It was a dark brown sighthound and occationally it was the big pool of greenish substance that was probably supposed to its poop.

I can't find it anywhere. The google shows me only the stupid actual dogs in TS1.

25 years since the sims 1 was first released! to celebrate, i made this silly little set consisting of some posters and a rugs, both with some iconic and nostalgic themes.

all the concept art and such of course belong to ea/maxis. i sourced a lot of these from simscommunity.info, which is a fantastic site overall. i also used this sims 3 icons pack by flabaliki, this sims 2 hq icons pack by eddysims and also this build-a-sim icon pack by deathbypufferfish. 🖤 big thanks to these folks!

A note for the fellow strugglers in TS1

Hey, it's Seth! I know how frustrating TS1 can be (considering it's age and being the first game in the franchise), so I am here to introduce a list of personal must have mods and programs, which I always use whenever I re-install the game to make it more user-friendly. The list itself is quite short, actually, since it only consists of my personal gameplay choice mods. So there's no building objects, deco, skins and heads there.

MODS AND CC

This calendar will report the day of the month to your sims and -- and this is amazing -- even introduce a concept of days off. Sims should have about every 6th and 7th day off. - THE ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE. It's in the painting section and costs 15 simoleons. Works a bit wonky with children, but otherwise a very useful mod to have.

Call work/give interview job phone plugins to give your sim a day off. - I use those mostly when sims have to take care of the baby.

A family mod by Gothi_family_4ever. - another must have in my collection, introduces the familial relationships in game! No more inappropriate relationships between relatives. It's a 0 simoleon painting, which you can delete once you've done.

A hacked frigde mod by the same author. - allows your sims to put their food into the refrigirator, call the household members for the meal, and requires the usage of products (like meat and in-game vegetables) in order to cook a dish instead of insta-paying. You kinda have to build a grocery shop for your sims, so they could buy the required products, I prefer to install the stalls into the pre-existing farm shop in Old Town area. P.S DON'T FORGET TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE INSTALLING BEFORE DRAGGING ANY FILE. As much as I love this mod, I don't, for example, use their cereal add-on.

The Elixir ExpressiBuy Computer. - a computer that allows you to buy any in-game buyable product (like vacation gifts, grocery, tonics, etc etc) in stock. They won't magically appear overnight but would be brought by a special courier npc. It also allows your sim to research logic, creativity, culinary and mechanical skills. I'd also recommend diving further into their site, since they have a lot of cool and unique gameplay content as well!

MagiCo's Bookshelf of Dimensional Storage - the official Maxis item, that was in the 'Get Cool Stuff' section. Allows your sims to keep their magic coins and ingrediends in special bookshelf storage, I mostly use it so the kids could get the ingredients for their spells from the adults. It is in the Magic section, btw

The Magic Mirror - the only outright cheat object that I have in my possesion. This mirror refreshes your sims needs, builds skills, friends, stardom, etc. Saves headaches when you are not in the mood to fullfill your sims' mood, ha-ha.

PROGRAMS

SimEnchancer 3D - basically a program that allows you to change the basic sim's attributes, including their heads and bodytypes. If you are familiar with TS2's SimPE, you'd have the idea how it works. NOTE: if you have to run your TS1 game as an administrator, you'd have to open it up in the same vein as well. And don't forget to backup your UserData files when you are working with it, just in case!

The Sims Creator - the official Maxis program for players to create some basic skins content. The program is only suitable to work with head and skins textures and not the meshes! Likewise, if you have to open the game as an administrator, you'd have to do the same with that program.

NEIGHBORHOODS

This section for the fellow premade enjoyers out there, who mostly played TS2 before and decided to give the local premades a chance as well

Here you can download the original UserData 1 and 2 if you want to reset your neigborhoods as they were if you had already played the neighborhood before and want to start anew. The Sims Wiki also gives you an instruction for how to do so.

And here you can download the additional Maxis families like The Hatfield, The Maximus, The Mashuga, The Snooty, The Jones and that weird agent White House familes. For some reasons, some of them refused to function in my game, so I had to install the empty houses and recreate them by hand, using the SimEnchancer and Wikia to give them appropriate skills and careers.

OTHER

Sims 1 Alternative UI - refreshes your game by a margin. I really recomend this one!

Perhaps the reason Near likes the sound of rain is that she was born at a Convent in Windenburg on a rainy night. Her mother, who had a chronic illness, fell asleep very deeply after she finished giving birth, and her father went missing the year she turned 5. (Spoiler: He is now in Sixam)

Near was admitted to the Convent's nursery by a midwife who helped her at birth. She was adopted by a wealthy family within a year. But when she turned 18, while her foster parents were baking her birthday cake, the house caught fire and both her foster parents died.

The trauma of losing her family wasn't great, as she's used to the fast-changing environment. But she's still scared of fire.

Plus, she's a total narcissist.

Fewer Visitors on Community Lots

I've thought this little BCON tuning is too low effort to share but recently @grilledcheese-aspiration was looking for something like this and then reported that using this mod made a larger community lot of theirs more stable to play, so. Maybe it would be useful for others, too?

If this aspect is unmodded, when you visit a community lot the game summons 3–8 non-playable sims to populate the lot with, the maximum number depending on the time of the day.

With this tuning mod, there will be only 1–3 sims instead. The cap doesn't affect OFB businesses or how many playable sims you can bring to community lots.

Conflicts with other mods that edit the BCON Avg. Lot Populations (of Townies). If you want to tune the cap it's easy, just open the mod with SimPe and adjust the numbers.

I recommend combining this tuning with this mod by @belladovah that makes the game only populate community lots after your playable sims have arrived.

No Forced Career Change at Level 10

Usually, if you reach Level 10 of any career, you only get to stay at Level 10 for a short time before the game forces you into a different career path at a lower level. This mod eliminates that and allows your sim to keep the job that they worked hard for.

Call Work

With this phone plugin you will have the option to call work and tell them you are sick and can't go to work. If you do that you get the day off and they can't fire you for staying at home. You can stay home as long as you like, just make the call every day.

Call Interview

This is a phone plugin for Superstar. It will give you the alternative "Give Interview" on the phones at home for Sims in the Superstar career track. Just call and give an interview, you will get paid and your fame will go up, it never goes down.

MOTIVES & SKILLS

Need Decay Crystal Mod

Turn this magic crystal ON, and need decay stops completely. You can still increase or decrease a need if you DO something, though. What this mod stops is the need DECAY. For example, if you work out on the exercise machine, your Energy and Hygiene will decrease, just as they always do when you use the exercise machine. But needs won't decay simply from time passing. It looks like a blue crystal on a gold base and can be found in the Decorative - Sculpture section of the catalog.

Party Plant

Looks like a party plant. Maximises all motives for all Sims on the lot, except for Social, which is adjusted just enough to stop unhappiness. Perfect for making friends and having babies. No menu, just delete when you've had enough.

Choose a name from the menu, and get a dialog box with all their motive scores listed. NPCs, strays, your date downtown - anyone!

Visitor Enabler

When turned on from its menu, it gives all visiting neighbours the same powers as residents - cook from fridges, stay the night, use showers etc. Turn off from menu and visitors instantly revert to helplessness.

Zappers

Objects that get rid of certain objects and visitors from the lot. None of these kill the Sim or destroy the object permanently, they work by waiting until the thing or person shows up then deleting that particular instance. That means the same thing might show up again and be zapped again - until you remove the zapper.

Relationship Mods

No More Relationship Decay

When you make friends in The Sims, you have to keep up with them, because your relationship declines gradually over time. This mod stops that from happening, so you no longer need to maintain relationships.

I use Version 2: Eliminate Relationship Decay AND More Walk-Bys, which also means more people from your neighborhood will pass your lots.

Flirt with and Compliment Friends

In the unmodded game, the Flirt interaction disappears when your sim's relationship with another sim is over 60, and Compliment/Admire disappears when the relationship is over 40. This mod changes that; Flirt and Compliment will still be available all the way up to 100.

Joke with Friends

In an unmodded, game, sims lose the ability to tell a joke to someone when their relationship goes over 70. So you can only tell jokes to acquaintances and casual friends. nThe Joke with Friends Mod lets you tell jokes all the way up to a relationship level of 100.

Families Are Friends Mod

In the unmodded game, families are created with a relationship of 20; this mod makes newly created families have a relationship of 50. This mod affects only NEWLY CREATED families, so families that were made before you installed it will not be changed.

UTILITIES AND PROGRAMS FOR TS1

Basically a continuation to my important TS1 mod compilation which makes the game a bit more user-friendly and easier without the feeling of outright cheating. This time I want to focus on the useful programs for this game, what do they do and how you can use them.

I had already talked about SimEnchancer 3D and The Sim Creator in that previous post, so they wouldn't be on this list.

The list itself is aimed for the casual players (and not the CC-makers), so there wouldn't be programs such as Homecrafter, IFF-pencil, Transmogrifier, FarOut and other editing programs needed for the CC-creation. Most of them are needed for the slight neighborhood editing, CC-organizing and detecting bad CC-files (+SimPose, yes).

EliSims - an executable that you need to install before using. It allows you to create additonal UserData folders if you feel that the 8 established hoods are not enough for you. It basically clones any UserData folder and renames it according to the next number on the list, so you should clone from the UserData folders which were not activated prior. It also allows you to add the custom content and music but I didn't test those features out.

EliSims and Nbhood 9 which I created with it.

SimOrganizer - a powerful, fan-made Buy Mode Catalog editing tool for The Sims 1. Allows you to view the objects from the Buy Mode and edit their catalog placement, price, description and name however you want. I use it sometimes cause a lot of cc-makers tend to overclutter the Miscellanious-Other function category. Makes searching CC in game much easier.

SimOrganizer

Skin Doctor - a handy file manager for your skin files, helps you to get rid of the bad cc-skins and allows you take any in-game skin to edit or to use in the SimPose.

Lot Manager - allows you to copy your lot into the other neighborhood. I would recommend to do the backup of your UserData folders before you interact with his program.

Lot Manager

Sims File Cop - a program for detecting broken mods, objects, and skins in The Sims 1. Helps you in case if you can't detect the exact cc file which causes your game to crash

The Sims File Cop

SimPose - a program which allows you to take your sim and pose them however you want. The Sims Depot has a massive tutorial for it in case if you want to learn how to use it!
