Meet Near Nocturne. You may know her.

Perhaps the reason Near likes the sound of rain is that she was born at a Convent in Windenburg on a rainy night. Her mother, who had a chronic illness, fell asleep very deeply after she finished giving birth, and her father went missing the year she turned 5. (Spoiler: He is now in Sixam)

Near was admitted to the Convent's nursery by a midwife who helped her at birth. She was adopted by a wealthy family within a year. But when she turned 18, while her foster parents were baking her birthday cake, the house caught fire and both her foster parents died.

The trauma of losing her family wasn't great, as she's used to the fast-changing environment. But she's still scared of fire.

Plus, she's a total narcissist.

"These cupcakes aren't quite the same," Suzume bought some treats from a nearby bakery and reminisced about her junior high days with Riku. They weren't close back then, but he joked around with all his classmates, including Suzume. It has been a week since their date and Suzume sees him either at his grandma's house or in town...although, neither have made a move yet. "You rarely laughed at my jokes!" Riku smudged some icing on her nose, continuing his playful antics. The more time she spent with Riku, the more he felt like family 🥰

Chesnut Ridge. wednesday, january 24th

Even though there are times where the snow becomes denser, I don't feel that coldness inside my head or my body. Winter doesn't seem as cold as it did when I arrived here. A few months ago I met Carmy. She is a noisy and careless young woman, always shouting and laughing out loud. Carmy is the freest soul I have ever met. She likes to walk barefoot on the grass even if it's freezing, she dances in the rain as if nothing worries her and all the animals seem to love her. In a way I envy her, I envy the way she can be herself, but I feel like this is what draws me to her. If I must confess something, it is that I hate to admit that my heart races when she is around and then calm comes to my door. — Astriel Murphy's diary, fifth entry.
