Top 10 Fave Vampire Songs 🩸

Another species songlist! Honestly I like some of the songs here more than a few on my werewolf list...

10. I Don't Care by VIOLENT VIRA. This one isn't an explicitly vampiric song but it has all the vampiric female rage in it and it's one of my all time favourite metal songs. Her screams and vocals are insanely powerful.

9. Lonely Vampire by Weathers. If you feel you just need some feel good pop amongst the gothic angst of being a bloodsucker then this is definitely the song for you! It's one to get up and dance to.

8. Bloodsuckers by Johnny Hollow. One of those songs where I haven't picked up the artist yet but definitely will. The instrumentals on this one are like nothing else. Honestly though this song makes me think more of carnivorous gnomes than vampires but that's my problem...

7. Vampires by Night Club. Night Club has perfected their dark electronic music and their entire discography sounds like what would play at a vampire nightclub. How convenient they have a song named Vampires! They sound like if Draculaura went raving and have the black and pink aesthetic to match.

6. Cold Blood by Valen. Yes there is a certain point in these where I just add songs I like that have a keyword in the title but you have to trust it fits I promise!! In 2023 this song was 43rd on my Spotify top songs. In my defence the lyrics & vibe are still vampiric...

5. Lesbian Vampyres From Outer Space by Scary Bitches. Another Scary Bitches song in 5th position! Just like the last one this is definitely an experience... an experience I love though! Again, this is one you have to hear for yourself. The WW2 references really make the song.

4. Blood by Starbenders. Not explicitly a vampire song but definitely fitting for an angsty human x vampire drama. Starbenders as a band have such a unique and lively sound to them. My other favourite is Cover Me, which would honestly also fit in that theoretical vampire drama.

3. Bloody Creature Poster Girl by In This Moment. Massive slasher final girl (potentially turned villain) energy. I only discovered In This Moment about a month ago through a friend but I have been addicted to their music ever since - they're on all my main playlists! Definitely a song I associate with some of my fictionkins & werewolf kintype too.

2. Lust for a Vampyre by I Monster. This song feels like a lovestruck daydream. It's sweet, sinister and sooo catchy! Also who doesn't love a good human x vampire song.

1. Old Money by Jonathan Young & Caleb Hyles. This isn't just my #1 vampire song but one of my favourite songs of all time. Collectively we can ignore the cringe and appreciate Young & Hyles outstanding vocals and the catchy tune. Also bonus points - it's explicitly about vampires! This is a big band number straight out of a gothic musical.

Emin's multiple childhood crushes

After I said yesterday that i'll make a post of my childhood crushes that I still have, and that have started my era of liking both genders, so heres the post =^_^= And this is a post for all my besties, sisters, Brothers, pen pals And girlfriend to know like: @ilovescaredysquirrel2 And @iggyguyy And @sophia-does-skits And @muppet-fan-real And @mysafespaceblog13 And @ducktoonz903707 And @peaceforpeople And all my other besties, Sisters, Brothers, pen pals =^////^=

I have literally lots of crushes, And I might make this in parts since not only these are my crushes, I have MULTIPLE more =^///^= And also, before I start now saying these crushes of mine, I would literally daydream the entire relationships with these characters/celebrities I have a crush on =0.0=

Now, lets start with The male crushes I started having since my childhood:

1. Sunny Bridges (class of 3000) - heck, I started having a crush on him because of his voice, his looks, And just.... His personality. And I literally would smile whenever he was either talking, singing, or was on the screen. And I can say, I have a thing for black People because I always think theyre beautiful. =^///^=

2. Tony the talking clock (DHMIS) - I dont know why did I have a crush on him, but Its because I really liked his voice And just his accent, And I always liked the fanart of him I found on the internet.

3. Duroro (keroro gunso) - I think I have a crush on him because of his voice, especially in the Bosnian dub, And I really liked his looks.

4. Tamama (keroro gunso) - Im not sure if he is either a boy or a girl... But i'll put him here ^///^; I really liked him because of his cute personality And just his kind of jealousy side when he would feel like someone gets near keroro.

5. Poco (brawl stars) - oh... I certainly remember this guy, I can now sometimes be embarassed when I remember my crush on poco, but I just thought he was an very like, "attractive" Guy in brawl stars.

6. Surge (brawl stars) - I remember having surge as an favorite character from brawl stars, And I even used to ship my brawl stars OC named Cathy with him (i'll draw her soon again), And I would sometimes get jealous when Surge And Max would be "shipped" together.

7. Josh (blue's clues And you) - I remember when this Show actually came out to Nick jr in my Bosnian dub somewhere maybe in 2020, And I really liked Josh, I thought he was cute And I still do.

8. Foxy (fnaf) - oh god... I remember having a slight crush on him too, its because I founded pirates very attractive, especially female pirates, even tho they can sometimes be evil, I still really liked them.

9. Espresso cookie (Cookie run Kingdom) - I really liked this Guy because of his voice, his looks And just his personality, And I used to ship him with Madeleine cookie, because I really liked the Idea of them being shipped together. (I have always made lgbtq ships I think since 2021)

Now, heres the female crushes I started having when I was a little ass kid And that I still have a crush on now And how they started my liking girls side:

1. Fi (tractor tom) - I really liked her english voice, And even her voice in Bosnian dub, And my cheeks would sometimes turn red-ish whenever I hear her talking, And I really liked her personality.

2. Violet, Fifi And primrose (Fifi And the flowertots) - first Violet, I really liked her voice in both english And Bosnian dub, And I really liked how her hobby was painting And drawing. Second Fifi, I really loved her personality, And whenever I would hear her talking at the start of every episode, I would blush And giggle. Third primrose, I know she is kind of narcissistic And bossy, but I still really liked her sense of Fashion And voice.

3. Frankie, draculaura, clawdeen, robecca, Venus, Abbie, Spectra, Rochelle, cleo, ghoulia, lagoona And operetta (Monster high) - first Frankie, I really liked her sense of Fashion and her kinda clumsyness, the way she sometimes loses her body parts would make me Chuckle. Second draculaura, she is my number ONE favorite ghoul from Monster high, I really liked her voice in both english And Bosnian dub, And I really love her sense of Fashion, And I always found her ponytails cute, And I wanted my ponytails like that. Third clawdeen, I really liked her looks, personality And voice, whenever I would see her on the screen, I would hide my face, not because I was scared of her, its because I would get flustered whenever I see her. Fourth robecca, heck, I literally had a big crush on this girl too, I even would sometimes imagine myself brushing her beautiful long black And blue hair, And even hugging her, And I really love her voice. Fifth Venus, I really liked her sense of loving Plants, And I loved her hairstyle And voice in both english And Bosnian dub. Sixth Abbie, oh fuck, I literally love this girl too just like draculaura And robecca, I literally loved her hairstyle, voice, looks And personality, I always imagined her hugging me or being my girlfriend. Seventh spectra, I really liked her voice, sense of Fashion And hairstyle, I would sometimes imagine her holding me by my hands And just we both are flying around like normal ghosts. Eighth Rochelle, Heck, I really love this girl too, I literally founded her so pretty just like all the ghouls And female And male crushes I had And still have, I always wanted her to be my girlfriend And I really like her voice. Ninth cleo, I know she can sometimes be narcisstic And bossy just like primrose, but I still really loved her, And I imagined her hugging me And being my girlfriend. Tenth ghoulia, I really like geeky And nerdy characters, especially if theyre girls, I always wanted ghoulia to be my girlfriend even if she was with slo-mo, I would sometimes get jealous when theyre together. Eleventh lagoona, I really liked sea gals like lagoona, I really love her looks And her inteligence. And twelveth operetta, I really love her too, I really love her hairstyle, her voice And her sense of opera And drama, I sometimes would imagine myself in a theatre stage with her, dancing with her And singing with her.

4. Karai (tmnt 2012) - I know karai is evil And Works with shredder, but I really liked her looks And her voice in both english And Bosnian dub, And that one episode where she like dissapears somewhere, I was very sad And would rewatch the episodes where she was in.

5. Piper (brawl stars) - I really liked her voice And her looks, I would even sometimes imagine her baking me some muffins after I saw that video of her making muffins, And I just found her very pretty.

6. Clover And Mandy (totally spies) - first clover, I loved her voice And sense of Fashion, And I really imagined her being my girlfriend And being on missions with her, Alex And sam. Second Mandy, I know she is a rude popular girl just like how cleo And primrose can be rude And narcissistic, but I still really loved her, And I would imagine Mandy being Nice to me except for others.

7. Kesha - heck, she was my first celebrity crush, I really love her voice And songs, AND her looks, she is still my favorite Singer, And I would sometimes imagine myself being at her concert And hearing her beautiful voice

8. Britney Spears - she is my second celebrity crush, And I really love her voice, her looks And her songs, I have always founded her pretty just like kesha And Melanie. And like kesha, she is still my favorite Singer.

9. Melanie Martinez - she is my third celebrity crush, I really love her voice And her songs, even her sense of Fashion, And I would even imagine being at her crybaby And K-12 concerts. And I really found her beautiful just like kesha And Britney, And ofcourse, she is still my favorite Singer.

10. Cici (roary the racing car) - I know she is a car, but I founded her voice very beautiful in both english And Bosnian dub, And I would sometimes imagine her giving me compliments.

11. Raibaru (yandere simulator) - heck, I founded her very pretty, And I would sometimes even imagine raibaru being MY bodyguard And girlfriend at the same time And protecting me.

12. Tiger Lily (cookie run Kingdom) - I really founded her cute And I imagined her protecting me along with her big Tiger, I always wanted to brush her long hair.

13. And lastly fluttershy And rarity (MLP) - first fluttershy, I really loved her sweet And kind personality, I always wanted to help her take care of her pets, And I liked her cute soft voice. Second rarity, I really liked her sense of Fashion And her voice in both english And Bosnian dub, And I always imagined her making me dresses And helping her make dresses.

And those are my childhood crushes that I still have for now, And i'll ship my persona with Clifford from muppets, Sunny Bridges, And many more other favorite muppets of mine =^////^=

Notes: Hi everyone! This is my first fic in two and a half years. I'm kinda nervous about it, but also had it read over twice, so it should be all good to go. Happy reading!

Clawdeen.

Deuce is acting weird.

Admittedly, she doesn’t know him that well yet. They’ve been going out for three months, but only made their relationship official two weeks ago. Maybe it’s just her supernatural senses. Maybe she’s just smart. Either way, Clawdeen can tell something’s up.

“Are you okay?” she asks, at their weekly student council meeting. Now that she’s a prefect, she’s actually required to be there. As president, Deuce is too, although he looks like he’d really rather be anywhere else.

“I’m fine,” he replies. He pulls out his chair and sinks into the seat next to her. He really doesn’t look good. His once bright emerald orbs are now dark and dull, splashes of crimson mixed in with the whites of his eyes. He looks absolutely exhausted. His snakes, judging by how one slithers out from his beanie and tries to bite her, seem moody, too.

“Sorry ‘bout that,” he apologizes. He swats the snake away, and pulls his beanie down farther over his mop of curls. “So,” he asks, turning his attention back to their classmates gathered around the table, “what’s on the agenda for today?”

Heath.

Clawdeen, despite being the amazing girlfriend she is, isn't the only one to notice something's wrong.

Heath is Deuce's best friend. Him, Deuce, and Cleo go back to ghoul school, and he notices something is wrong when he's with Cleo in Phys-icks.

"Dude," he asks, his tone doubtful, "are you sure you should even, like, be here?"

Deuce, in response, jolts awake, and glares at his roommate from beneath his glasses. "Yes." He scowls. "I'm fine. Why does everyone keep asking me that?"

"Hmm." Cleo, from her seat beside Heath, taps her pencil against her chin. "I don't know, Deuce. Maybe because you look oddly like my family did, after we woke up from a thirteen hundred year sleep? That could be it."

Heath rolls his eyes. He loves Cleo’s sarcasm as much as anything else, but now is not the time for it. "Or," he says, lightly elbowing Cleo in the waist, "maybe it's because we care about you? And we literally went through something super traumatic two weeks ago, and want to make sure you're okay?"

Deuce shoots Heath a disapproving ‘really?’ glare, aiming daggers at his best friend yet again. “Okay?!” he repeats, as he slams his textbook shut. “Why would I be?! Why would anyone be?! Clawdeen literally died, Draculaura nearly got killed by witches, and I took a knife to the throat! All within the first few weeks of school starting!”

“Don’t forget Toralei almost won the prefect election,” Cleo adds in, unfazed by the emotional outburst. “That was pretty terrible, too.”

“Cleo,” Heath hisses. “Knock it off.” This was not the time.

Deuce’s eyes glow a bright green, but they aren’t the shade Cleo, or Heath, was used to. Once an intense, entrancing jade, they're now transformed, dark and stormy, and, for the first time in her life, Cleo doesn’t see her ex-boyfriend, kind and calm, behind those irises of sea green.

“Cleo,” he growls, “that is literally the least important part.”

"Deuce, Heath, Cleo— is everything okay over there?" their teacher calls from across the room.

"Yeah! Everything is fine, Ms. Ziz!" Heath gives her a thumbs up, and smiles sheepishly. Then, he glances between his best friends, and hits Deuce on the shoulder, his eyes immediately dying down. "You guys need to cut it out." He breaks up the minor fight. "Cleo, you're being απερίσκεπτος, and we don't need your snarky remarks. Deuce—" He tosses over a pair of black, stone-proof sunglasses. "We're only trying to help. You need to stop being such a snake, and chillax, man."

Deuce sighs, but catches the shades nevertheless, trading them with the ones he is wearing. Heath always keeps an extra pair handy, and he knows he can count on him. He always has his back. "You're right," he agrees. He pulls his beanie down farther, before hurrying out of the room. "I- I'm sorry, I can't be here."

"…Sooo," Cleo says, spinning around in her chair, "that was weird, right?"

"Oh, yeah." Heath nods. "No doubt about it."

Cleo.

Cleo knows Deuce better than anyone.

It’s not really a surprise. Before attending Monster High, they’d been dating for two, nearly three, years. She knows everything about him. She knows that he has a pet rat, Perseus, and his mom absolutely despises him for it; she knows that he’s the youngest of his family, and has six sisters; and she knows that he’s always wanted to play casketball, but can’t because he tore his ACL when he was fourteen, and it never completely healed.

Thus, she also knows when Deuce is keeping secrets.

She isn’t subtle about it. She catches Clawdeen in the library later that day, her wedge sandals click-clacking against the spiral staircase. “Clawdeeen,” she calls, sing-song, “you need to talk to your boy toy!”

Clawdeen coughs, nearly choking on her meow-cha latte. “Cleo!” she whisper-shouts. “What the Kronos?! You almost gave me a heart attack!”

“I would’ve just gotten Frankie to bring you back to life, it’s fine.” Cleo shakes her head and waves the issue away, dismissing it.

“Yeah, because that worked out so well last time.” Clawdeen glances down at the scars lining the palms of her hands. They’d been healed for a while and didn’t hurt anymore– but that didn’t mean they weren’t painful reminders of how her friends, Draculaura and Deuce, had nearly lost their lives. 

They could’ve died that night. 

Draculaura had nearly been killed, Zamara using her to destroy all of vampire kind, and Deuce had almost gotten his throat slit, sacrificing himself while she took on the big bad, yet again. She couldn’t keep letting them– letting him– do that, and couldn’t keep putting them in harms way. They’d endured too much, and who was she, as a leader and student representative, if she couldn’t even protect her pack?

“It still worked, didn’t it?” Cleo rolls her eyes and sits down beside her. “Anyway,” she steals a sip from Clawdeen’s meow-cha latte, “we need to talk. Deuce has been acting strange lately. He’s been falling asleep in, like, every class, and it’s something Heath and I have both noticed.”

Clawdeen raises an eyebrow. “How many classes do you have with him?” They were only halfway through the school day!

“Like, two.” Cleo shrugs. “But that’s not the point. He fell asleep in Phys-icks, and totally freaked out on me and Heath. Plus, did you even see him at the student council meeting today? He looked horrible."

Clawdeen nods. Horrible isn't the word she'd use, but Cleo was right; the bloodshot eyes, pale skin, and irritability really wasn’t a good look.

“—As someone who dated him for three years, he doesn’t act like that. Something is wrong, and, as his ex-girlfriend, if anyone would know, it’d be me.”

“Okay…” Clawdeen frowns. “Well, why don’t you talk to him about it?” As far as she knew, Cleo & Deuce were still friends. Hell, they’d known each other since middle school.

“We’re… not really on speaking terms,” Cleo explains. “Not at the moment. Our conversations are almost entirely limited to group projects and small talk.”

Clawdeen sighs. If she’s being honest with herself, she knows something was wrong, too. She just doesn’t want to admit it, because addressing the issue would make it seem real. Their relationship is still new, and she wants to keep it fresh and fun for as long as possible.

She also knows, though, that if she wants this relationship to work, she has to be honest with him. Deuce had stood by her side, helping her against Komos and Zamara, all while reinventing himself. He offered her advice on her new social media superstardom, and was one of the first monsters to actually not judge her on orientation day. If Clawdeen can’t be anything, then she can at least take Cleo’s advice and be a good girlfriend. 

"Okay," she agrees, at last. “But I haven’t known him as long as you and Heath. What makes you think he’ll talk to me, if he won’t even talk to you two?”

Cleo has to resist the temptation to roll her eyes again, the words ‘because you’re his girlfriend!’ on the tip of her tongue. But she knows that wouldn’t be enough.

“Because he loves you,” she says sincerely. She remembers how anxious she felt when her and Deuce first started dating, and she suspects Clawdeen is feeling the exact same way. “You’re his safe place. I see the way he looks at you. There’s a spark in his eyes that I didn’t see when he was with me, Clawdeen.”

She hasn’t seen so much energy in his eyes in an eternity.

“And I know,” Cleo continues, “that when we first met, I liked to cause chaos and mischief.” She tucks a lock of hair behind her ear. “But you can trust me when I say I’m being honest with this.”

Deuce.

Clawdeen follows through with her end of the bargain; though it takes a little longer than she likes. She finally makes it out of casketball practice and fearleading at six fifteen. It's almost seven by the time she rinses herself off with a shower, and visits Deuce in his dorm after that.

She stands at the door and raps her knuckles against the wood. She remembers Heath telling her about his plans with Abbey- so it should just be the two of them tonight. Hopefully she can actually get Deuce to open up and talk to her.

"Clawdeen?" he says, as he opens the door. He's dressed in sweats and a green t-shirt, holding the knob in one hand, and a mug in the other. If that isn't strange, Clawdeen doesn't know what is. 'Deuce doesn't drink coffee,' she thinks to herself. In fact, he hates hot coffee. If he has to survive on any caffeinated drink, it's definitely iced caramel meow-chiatos. "What are you doing here?" He takes a sip from his coffee. "Aren't you guys having that sleepover with Twyla tonight?"

"Nah." She shakes her head and smiles politely. "Twyla's trying to pass her Boogeyman exam, so she's pulling an all-nighter in the library. Can I come in?"

"Y-Yeah, of course." Deuce steps aside and Clawdeen walks into the room, her claw slippers silent against the floorboards. She's never been in Deuce's dorm before, and it's so different from her own. The walls clash with tiger orange and pine-tree green, and Clawdeen can't even count how many plants they have. 

'Amazon vibes,' she thinks to herself. 'Interesting.'

"Heath's an environmentalist," Deuce explains, and Clawdeen nods in understanding. She knew he was passionate about global warming and saving the rainforest; she just didn't know how extreme he was about it. 

Maybe she'll talk to Heath about that next.

"So what brings you here?" Deuce asks. He places his coffee on the nightstand beside him, and the two sit on the bed together. Clawdeen makes herself comfortable, trying not to stare into his captivating emerald eyes. "You miss me or something?" He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively.

Clawdeen laughs, a glowing bright smile, and suddenly she's reminded of why she fell in love with him all over again. "Always,” she states. “But I’m here for a reason. Heath and Cleo said you fell asleep and kinda freaked out in Phys-icks today. I know we just took down Zamara, and no one’s really checked in with one another…”

“So you want to know if I’m doing okay,” Deuce finishes for her. “And I appreciate you for that, Clawdeen, but I’m fine. I processed everything as soon as we got back, and I am awesome. I’m all good to go.”

Clawdeen gives him a Look™. She doesn’t believe him, and she’s not having it. “Deuce, are you kidding? You’ve been a walking zombie all day, and you almost stoned Cleo in Phys-icks.” She grabs his hands and meets his eyes with her amber ones. “Talk to me, please. I just want to know what’s going on with you.”

Deuce takes a deep breath and sighs. He holds on to Clawdeen's hands, and his eyes drift over to the rug beneath his feet. He knows she isn't going to let this go, and he'd really rather not lie or hide things from her. That's not how a relationship works. "I haven't been sleeping great lately. I've been drinking coffee to stay awake. I keep on having nightmares about Zamara and Komos. It's not even about getting turned to stone. I just… I'm there, with a knife against my throat, and I see you lying there, on the floor with Frankie, and… I can't lose you."

Clawdeen offers him a soft smile, and wraps him in a hug. She's not a very affectionate person, but she's making an exception. She's also never had friends, never mind a boyfriend before, but she's already made up her mind; she's going to do everything she can to support and help them.

The only way to have a friend is to be one.

"Thank you for telling me," she says. "Have you… talked to anyone about it? Your moms or your dad?"

Deuce shakes his head, and buries himself in Clawdeen's shoulder. Her hoodie is so soft, and he could stay wrapped up in her arms forever. "I don't know who to talk to," he says, his voice cracking. "My moms wouldn't get it. They're already pressuring me to follow in their footsteps, and hate that I go to Monster High. They'll be so ashamed of me. I can't go to them with this."

Clawdeen nods, and holds him close. She's met Deuce's family before, and knows they aren't the most supportive. His bio mom, Medusa, is pretty ambitious. While that isn't necessarily a bad characteristic, her opinions consist of how gorgons should "never be nice," and "always succeed, at any and all cost."

Needless to say, Clawdeen isn't really a fan of her- despite how much she tries to be.

The two of them sit in the quiet for a while, Deuce silently sobbing on her shoulder. They stay there for what feels like forever, until Clawdeen is sure that he's asleep.

"Deuce," she whispers, "I am so sorry." She can't believe she roped him into helping her, and now his mental health is suffering from it. "But I promise we're going to work through this together. I'm with you till the end of the line, alright? We're going to fix this."

They have to fix this.

it’s that time again

time for a doll unboxing! today i have a Creeproduction Abbey Bominable, who recently retailed for 24.99 (though she’s now sold out at that price point.)

in her box! i have to say, these g1 boxes have a lot more charm than the g3 ones. they’re much more bold and fun than g3 generic rainbow pattern backround. but then again, i don’t care about the boxes, given i don’t keep them. anyways!

freed her! she comes with a stand, her pet, (name redacted for copyright reasons. sorry shiver), a doll comb, and her diary. i flipped through the diary a bit, i wish they’d done these for g3 core dolls. they’re really fun and cute!

face card. Abbey has one of my absolute favorite faces in g1, i love her underbite and more severe, less smiley expression

wouldn’t be a MH post if i didn’t show off the shoes. they’re two separate pieces, the boots and the leg warmers.

more details. she’s got a little pouch with a little key, which i’m going to have to be careful not to lose. i also got the straight tinsel variant of the abbey creeproduction, which is slightly disappointing (i did really want her beaded tinsel variant) but not a dealbreaker. her hair otherwise is saran.

G3 Abbey is taller, with a thicker build, and pointed ears and horns. she lacks G1 Abbey’s body glitter. face wise, i think i definitely prefer G1 abbey, but body wise, i love G3 Abbeys taller and thicker build. outfit wise… i mean i thibk i have to give it to g1 abbey just because this fit is so iconic. but why pit two bad bitches against each other? i love both of them.

i’m planning on getting skulltimate secrets 3 abbey, at which point i’ll probably be starting an Abbey shelf, as she’s my second favorite MH character after draculaura. for now, i’ve had to cram her into one of my other shelves, sorry core lagoona, but you’ve gotta sit to make space…

decided to give venus a turn on the bratz chair and let g3 abbey stand too. i was gonna try and fit both abbeys on the chair, but it was too much of a tight fit, lol.

Part 2 of my Monster High redesigns! Here are Draculaura and Clawdeen they are gay and dating <3

For Drac I wanted her to have a little bit more gothic lolita inspiration behind her look (but she turned out less gothic than I intended whoops). I really love both her gen 1 and 3 designs, and absolutely fell in love with her skulltimate secrets series 2 outfit with the Peter Pan collar aggh I absolutely needed to include that!!!

Clawdeen was actually a tough one for me - I certainly had a vision but my main struggle was sticking to a limited colour palette without making it exactly the same as her gen 1 colours. I tried to give her a really y2k inspired outfit but I’m not sure how well that came across. I also liked the animal print and celestial motifs from gen 1 and 3 respectively so I tried to include both of those!

1.) HALLOWEEN SCHOOL THATS SPOOKY YES YES YES

when was a kid (one million years ago) i was Obsessed with the idea of Halloween Town and loved imagining all these stories about my version of it

imagined being a pumpkin headed scarecrow (legit my first self insert OC, before I know those terms) and hanging out with MY ghoul friends (werewolf, vampire, skeleton, ghost, the usual)

drew fanart for it and daydreamed about it all year long...

my neighbor, the kid i played most with bc neither of us had anyone else, liked playing animal uprising in barbie town and wasn't so keen on the spooks, so my desire for a funky creepy friend group VESTERED. like worms. or maybe maggots

It's so sweet.

Even before she turn out to be part werewolf, the feeling is, the students like her. They'd be happy to have her stay. There's a connection here even WITHOUT being a monster

like Draculaura and Frankie and Duce want to help Clawdeen figure out what kind of monster she might be SO SHE CAN STAY. the framing is, turning out to be a monster would be the EXCUSE for her to be here, with friends. The ones she already has, now

also i dont know why but it feels like this is one of the first times i've seen weregirls with leg and arm hair that has actual, noticeable, fur tufts. not just smooth with a fur coloring. this has Texture. these girls are HAIRY

and again it's just another thing, it's normal at monster high

the way the three bell chime "ding, ding, DOOOM" are used when Clawdeen is exchanging thumbs up with the wolf pack only to cut on the DOOOM to her going into the woods for the pack meeting against her instincts

Girl giving a presentation against witch craft, while secretly practicing witch craft, to convince herself it's bad... needing confidence to cast spells correctly, only she loses hers... all of the wanting to be a witch, it makes her feel like her, and then- the realization that that MAKES her a witch. She already IS one. She wants to tell her dad but, just, can't. And her friends support her.... oh, that hit good

And also, of course, Frankie the nonbinary monster!

What is Halloween like in the DaVille house? Who dresses up? Who hates it? Who thinks it's stupid but gets dragged into the mess anyways? What would some of the characters dress as?

Since you said Crawford is a bit of a prankster, does he ever set up pranks or traps around Halloween? Does the hoes help? Can it decorate itself for holidays? (I just love the mansion, and I wanna know all about it. <3)

ohohohoho Halloween in Clay River Manor is a Thing(tm)

So Isobel, Ivy and Gwen hate Halloween. They think it's a kid's festivity that portraits magic in the wrong way and that it should not be celebrated blah blah... Basically they are killjoys😒

But Crawford is the Heir and the cousins surprisingly agreed to fight their mothers/aunts and decorate everything and dress up

So, Florian, Spence, Max and Royce are always up for dressing up. The triplets do group costumes (their highlight was going as the Rowdyruff Boys (the male version of the Powerpuff Girls cause they match the colors of them), Pokémon trainers and when they were little Max would dress up as Frankenstein, Royce as Dracula and Spence as a spirit or a ghost), and Florian gets more creative, using the things he finds on the attic of the house to use as costumes (and he pulls it off reaally well)

Florian also persuades Gabrielle into dressing up with him and last Halloween they went as Wednesday and Cosimo Addams. Both groups go trick or treating downtown to Duskshore but have to be in the house before midnight.

Isaac does not particullary love nor hates Halloween, although he loves to learn about the story of the tradition and how it evolved into what it is today. Since he is dating Sol, they both dress up as a couple costume and volunteer at the library or the school to supervise the student's party.

Isadora gets invitied to all the popular parties and you bet she goes. She is popular in Duskshore, not only because of her name or power, or because she is pretty but because she makes everyone feel special. She likes dressing up but doesn't put much effort on her costumes, almost always using clothes she already has to make them. Some of her most popular costumes have been Kim Possible, Corpse Bride, Bloom from Winx and Draculaura from Monster High.

I think Carwford and Elaine are the ones who have more fun of the whole lot. Of course there's always gonna be the challenge of going up to Clay River Manor and idk taking a picture, or knocking on the door or something. And, the thing is that the house is not haunted, so nothing bad would happen...But they make it happen. Every single Halloween Elaine and Crawford become partner in crime/rivals, and they turn the little forest that surrounds the manor as well as the trail that goes up to it into a Haunted House, scaring as many children as they can. At the end of the night they compare results over a bowl of candy on the sofa.

Clay River Manor used to help until Isadora herself got scared and she stormed into the House yelling because she had fake blood all over her. Since then, the house is only allowed to do the usual stuff: open and close doors, make floors creak, blow out candles and make lights flicker... Spooky stuff that won't give a heart attack to anyone (at the end of the day, Clay loves everyone in there and wouldn't like to hurt them). It does decorate itself but not with banners or pumpkin torches, that is all Da Ville work; but somehow the house gets that...old mansion that doesn't look abandoned but you think is definitely haunted vibe (Clay just puts a bit of dust here and there on its front and maybe lets loose some roof tiles for the aesthetic haha)

Another adition to Clay was a set of speakers that Crawford asked Isaac for, and from last Halloween on it also plays some Halloween music (My Girlfriend is a Witch, the Addams Family theme song, This is Halloween.... you know the drill)

Okay, I'm just gonna write out my main ideas for my Reimagined Monster High. Here we go.

-it takes place in a world where monsters are outnumbered and shunned by humans, so monsters are forced to basically live in secret. Away from humans, in their own secret communities.

-The school itself was founded by Nora Bloodgood. Monster High was the first school of its kind to accept all kinds of monsters and has been running for hundreds of years. Also, it's a boarding school.

-The story will be mostly character driven with the main players being,

-Toralei Stripe. A werecat.

An orphan adopted by Headmistress Bloodgood. Toralei made friends with twin sisters Meowlody and Purrsephone Moon. Unfortunately, the 3 of them became the biggest bullies in the school. Though the twins were much more worse then Toralei. The twins were send to juvy after "the freezer incident".

"The freezer incident", Without Toralei's knowledge, the twins played their most dangerous prank of all. They locked Deuce Gorgon, a cold blooded monster into the school freezer, resulting in him almost freezing to death.

After that, Toralei took a long, hard look in the mirror and decided to change. Trying to redeem herself. So far most students are still untrusting of her. But 2 of them have forgiven her and became her friends, those 2 being...

-Clawdeen Wolf and Draculaura. A werewolf and vampire couple.

Clawdeen is a fashion designer with quite a following. Monsters love her designs and she's gotten quite a lot of commissions.

She always speaks her mind and has an extreme dislike for lies and liars. She's also fiercely loyal and protective of her friends and family, especially her younger siblings, Clawd and Howleen.

Draculaura is vegetarian vampire, no meat or blood for her. Unfortunately, due to her diet she's also extremely vulnerable to direct sunlight and always carries a parasol or umbrella with her.

Draculaura is one of, if not the most kind person in the school. And yet, there's some hints she's got a dark past. She's 1599 years old, so of course she has some secrets she doesn't want anyone to know about.

-Frankie Stein. One of the 3 new students at the beginning of the story.

Frankie is only a month old and still doesn't quite understand how the world works. She only knows stuff from outdated teen girl magazines. So, yeah. She knows nothing.

Frankie is assigned as Toralei's new roommate. Which means Toralei is half the time busy with making sure Frankie doesn't piss off the entire student body with her antics. Luckily she's helped by Clawdeen and Draculaura.

The 3 of them become Frankie's guides to life. With varying degrees of success.

-Gil Webber. The 2nd of 3 new students at school.

Gil was raised by highly abusive and bigoted parents. Constantly talking about how dangerous and despicable other monsters are. They sheltered Gil never letting him outside or go to the surface. Gil grew up terrified of the world.

Eventually, word got out about Gil's situation and the authorities got involved. Gil's parents were arrested and Gil was taken to Monster High and put in the care of Nora Bloodgood.

Gil is assigned as the new roommate of...

-Deuce Gorgon. Half gorgon, half human.

Deuce has lived for thousands of years since ancient Greece. Son of medusa and inherited her stone gaze. If he looks someone in the eye, they turn to stone. Luckily, since Deuce is half human the gaze is only temporary. And it doesn't work on monsters made out of stone or the undead. Like ghosts, zombies and mummies.

Deuce is a nervous wreck. Freezer trauma notwithstanding, he's constantly worried about dropping his sunglasses and turning someone to stone. He's also insecure about his skills as a chef and artist. He tries to look cool and laid back but he's not fooling anyone.

The snakes on his head are named, Jefferson, Addison, Carson, Maddison and Ed. He treats them as younger siblings even though they're all the same age.

Deuce has some trouble helping Gil not being afraid of everything. So he finds help from other water monsters. Sirena Von Boo? Too ditzy. Finnegan Wake? Comes on too strong. So his only choice is...

-Lagoona Blue. Half Sea monster, Half Water nymph.

Lagoona is bubbly, kind, carefree and very much a Himbo. She's genderfluid so they go by any pronouns he feels like at the moment.

They have 2 passions. Sports. And helping people out. And Gil is just the person that desperately needs Lagoona's help.

-Cleo De Nile. A mummy.

A princess who disowned her family because of how horrible they were. Cleo's lived long enough to know that being bad doesn't get you anywhere.

She's kind, understanding, and extremely generous. She's a natural born leader who takes charge when needed.

-Billy Where. An invisible man.

Billy, or "Invisi-Billy" as some call him is a theater kid at heart. Aside from that Billy also loves discovering the unknown and mysterious.

While his father is invisible all the time, Billy can control his visibility at will. He can even make other objects or people he's touching invisible.

Billy was assigned a new dorm room by Headmistress Bloodgood. A room down in the catacombs. He was put there cuz Bloodgood believes he can help the student living down there with his problems. That student being...

-Johnny Spirit. An unchained ghost.

Johnny died during the late 50s and he's got the greaser look down pat.

Johnny refuses to leave the catacombs and interact with other students, he does not wanna get involved or get attached to anyone. So he does not like having a roommate forced upon him.

And yet, as time goes on Johnny starts caring for Billy and thinking of him as a friend. Eventually trusting him enough to tell him the reason why he shut himself off. The story of how he died.

But that's a story for another time. ;P

Other important characters include,

Abbey Bominable. 3rd new student. She's blunt and likes photography. She has no roommate but gets taken in by,

Clawd Wolf and Heath Burns. Boyfriends that guide Abbey through the school and drag her into their shenanigans and schemes.

Ghoulia Yelps. Cleo's best friend and assistant. Genius.

Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde. Mad scientist and laid back DJ sharing a body.

Neightan Rot. Gay zombicorn. Can go from dishevelled hobo to fabulous drag queen in 10 seconds.

Spectra Vondergeist. Ghost "reporter" that runs the ghostly gossip.

And many more students.

The students where still feel a little tense after that fight from yesterday, mostly of them were still feeling the hurtful words from Manny, Specially Skeebo.

Sir C and Roxy went to them to give them at least good news for them.

Classroom Cleo de Nile & Ghoulia Yelps Mad Science Class Journal

Today was the dreaded “Choosing of Partners for Group Projects” although it could just be me that dreads it. I guess it is because there always seems to be a fight to see who gets to be my partner. I suppose that is an arrogant thing to write but it is true. In some ways it is flattering in other ways, not so much. Even Manny Taur goes out of his way to be nice to me. He is not exactly good at it, but he does try. Mr. Hackington decided this year to try and mitigate the chaos by putting all our names into a skull and drawing them out two at a time. There was some complaining about this new development until he finally said, “You get what you gets and you don’t pitch a fit!” My parents used to tell me that when I was a little ghoul, well probably not the way Mr. Hackington said it but he got his point across. Regardless, at least it keeps me from having to say “yes” to one classmate and “no” to the rest. 

Cleo complained the loudest about the new system until our names got pulled as partners... sigh... I love Cleo and she is my beast friend ever but I was really hoping for... well it does not matter. He got paired up with Frankie and I am sure they will do just fine. Normally having Cleo as a partner means... it means the extra credit work I usually do when I am working on a project by myself seems to be enough for both of us to an “A”. Cleo’s main functions include reminding me to do things I have already done and calling Deuce to bring us lunch or lattes. Not that I complain too much about that, and Deuce does have a way of keeping Cleo focused. She also insists on giving the final presentation, which usually goes well since she does command attention. This time though our assignment is to research the Science of Perfume, and then our final project will be to create our very own fragrance. I must say that I was completely surprised by Cleo’s enthusiasm for the project. I am not sure whether to be excited or frightened by this development. 

Finally a project worthy of my royal attention! I must say on past projects I have allowed Ghoulia to do the dragon’s share of the work but this is something I can really get my bandages wrapped around. When we still lived in Egypt, before “the difficulties”, one of my jobs was to oversee the royal perfumers. Nefera used to tell me that it was a job reserved for “a princess who would never become queen” but I didn’t care. While Nefera was in some dreadfully boring meeting about how much grain would be harvested for the year or where to build the next royal monument, I would go down and meet the trade caravans. They would be loaded with spices, oils and exotic flowers from the South and East, and the air was always filled with their fragrance. The royal perfumers and I would choose the best of everything to be had, then they would take the ingredients back to their perfumery and work their magic. I always wanted to join them as they cooked, ground and mixed the different ingredients to make perfume and scented oils, but this was looked upon as a task beneath a princess, so I could only watch. Now that I have a chance to get my hands dirty, so to speak, I can’t wait to get started. 

I have been pleasantly surprised by Cleo’s contributions to our project. She has really taken the dragon by the horns and unlike past projects together, I have had to “run” to keep up with her. Her enthusiasm and deadication to the project are quite refreshing and she has filled my in box with recipes and suggestions. So for the first time in, well, ever, I am feeling like the “weak link” in an academic setting. I find myself not entirely liking it, which makes me feel just a tiny bit selfish and unneeded. Yes, I know that this is completely illogical, but what if it becomes a habit? Will I lose my place in the group if my brainpower is no longer needed?... #DepressingThought

Ghoulia seems to be off her game lately. Usually she’s the zombie equivalent to a ball of energy when it comes to these projects, but lately she’s gone completely passive on me. It’s starting to scare me, and not in a good way. I admit to being more than a bit self-absorbed, but I can always tell when something is really wrong with one of my friends. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she was fine. I know better than to press her on it, or she’ll just retreat into her brain’s fortress of solitude and not come out for days. I suppose I’ll just wait until she’s ready to talk, but I really want her input. She’s my beast friend, and I want us to have fun together on this project. 

I told my mom I did not feel well today and stayed home from school. It was not a lie, but it was not because of a physical ailment, either. Cleo called me several times, but I chose not to answer my iCoffin. I mostly stayed in bed and then I thought maybe I really was getting sick since I did not feel like eating and could not generate enough excitement to read the newest issue of Dead Fast. Apparently my absence was noted, and the cavalry descended on my house after school. I heard the doorbell ring and then I heard the front door open. The voices of Cleo, Frankie, Lagoona, Draculaura and Clawdeen all called out to my mother, “We’re here!” I could smell the aroma of baking cookies drifting out of the kitchen - I thought she gave in to my request to stay home a little too easily. They all headed to the kitchen except for Cleo. I heard her heading down the hall toward my room - I knew it was Cleo because she has a very distinctive gait. She got to my door, knocked once and walked in. “All right, ghoul friend, what, in the name of Bast’s cats is going on with you?” I said nothing was wrong with me but Cleo was in one of her “royal moods”, and I could tell by the tone in her voice that she was going to pester me until I gave her an answer, so I did. I told her how I felt about my role on the project and how I was afraid that my intellectual abilities were the only reason that she and the rest of the ghouls wanted me around. Cleo just stood there staring at me with the strangest look in her eyes.

For a moment I could not decide if she was on the verge of being angry or sad. Then she simply spun on a heel, stepped to my door and yelled down the hall, “Ghoulia’s room - NOW!” The ghouls got to my room in a blink albeit with mouths full of freshly baked cookies. Cleo pointed at Frankie whose mouth seemed to be less full of cookie than the others, “Quickly, when you think of Ghoulia what’s the first thing that comes to mind?” Frankie sparked and said, “She’s kind and helpful!” Then Lagoona said I was “trustworthy and sincere”, Draculaura said I was “funny and sweet” and Clawdeen said I was “brave and determined.” Finally Cleo looked at me and said, “Notice anything in those descriptions that was missing?” I hung my head, a little embarrassed and a lot encouraged. “Now we are going back to the kitchen to eat more cookies, you could join us if you’re feeling up to it... oh and you better be in class tomorrow. We have a lot of work to do.” It turns out that my mother’s cookies are a miracle cure. Who knew? 

Now that Ghoulia is out of her funk, we’ve been able to make some progress. I found several trunks at home filled with jars of oils, extracts and spices. Nearly all of them are still labeled. Probably should be careful with the ones that are not... I seem to remember some were rather volatile when mixed with certain other ingredients. Unfortunately, I could not find any of my old recipes, so this will truly require real experimentation.

Batch #1

Top notes of leather - old gym shoe leather - with a sweaty angst-like finish. It is a smell reminiscent of the odor that emanates from the boys’ locker room after summer football practices. FAIL

Batch #2

Complex floral notes of troll cabbage and broccoli with none too subtle undertones on burnt microwave popcorn. It was quite... breathtaking and also Mr. Hackington’s favorite. FAIL

It smelled like cheese at first then spoiled milk. Disgusting. FAIL

Batch #4 

A frightfully woodsy scent, mysterious yet approachable and our favorite by far. It also hardened in the beaker like cement. We may have discovered a way to create scented construction material but as a perfume - FAIL

Eau de Pit of Goblin Arm. FAIL

Two words - wet werewolf. FAIL

We used an unmarked bottle from Cleo’s collection. It was an odorless black elixir but when we mixed it with vanilla, juniper berry and patchouli oil it opened a portal to another dimension that sucked in half of our experiments before we could put a stopper in the beaker. Cleo blamed the patchouli. FAIL

Scrappy-Doo Daily Dose #1

Scrappy Doo fan art compilation! Seven Per week!

1.  Box 00. 507 Scrappy Doo, by Kurrutra.

For those of you not familiar with Pokemon, this is Scrappy as a Herdier! (A Gen 5 Normal type pokemon) I personally saw Scrappy as more of a riolu, but I appreciate this!  2.  Maggie and Scrappy, by Vederick

This is a more AU ish interpretation of Scrappy, going off of a fanmade show concept-which Verdalkan shares in the work’s description. It’s very detailed and energetic in vision, which is why I consider it to be part of the work.  I will include Maggie’s description since it’s not just about Scrappy-it’s about how he interacts with others, too.  

“It was recently brought to my attention that Shaggy has a little sister and after reading up on her a little I realized I just had to include her in this universe...it's not that she's had a particularly interesting or large role before, but that I think she could have one here if played right. In MDI, Maggie is Shaggy's parents are separated. She's been Shaggy's biggest fan since they were little and still remains so. In her first theoretical "episode" of MDI, Shaggy will have not seen her in a while and be desperate to maintain the image of himself that she has in her head from when they were kids (as her clever, courageous protecter). Hah! Reminds me of Be Cool Scooby-Doo’s ‘Night of the Upsetting Shorts’. I know that it’s FRED’s shorts but I can’t help but think of the bad rap that the animated Scooby shorts get. What a trip they were.  He'll of course need the help of his new friends to maintain the charade; so Velma feeds him clues and data under the table so he can triumphantly announce having "deduced" them, Fred will have to (very begrudgingly) fill Shaggy's role on the team (which he'll use to mock him at every turn ), meanwhile Daphne will even pretend to have a crush on him and constantly talk him up to his sister with past tales of his "bravery" (which in turn will cause Maggie to reveal TRUE things about her big bro that will actually end up endearing Daphne to Shaggy [in line with my shipping plan ]).  But they won't just have Maggie to worry about, since along for the ride will be her puppy, Scrappy-Doo. So when Scrappy was being made, the writers were a bit...disorganized to say the least. Joe Barbara-Scrappy’s creator-a very unique, hotheaded man who had a blast at life and cartoons-just had people sit around and chatter until they came up with something that they liked. And with a new character there were tons of ideas! They all agreed that Scrappy was a spitfire, but anyway, one of the ideas was that he would be owned by...Daphne’s niece...yeah I love Scrappy but I think they were getting way too carried away with the sibling’s progeny motif.  That reminds me of this!  (He's not her dog traditionally; it's sort of a "twist of convenience" I'm doing)  Like Scooby, Scrappy will be much more 'dog-like' in the universe (basically human intellect and awareness, but no talking). I think that it’s interesting to have a mute character if the animators can handle the extra pressure of expressing what’s going on in the character’s head and showing what’s going on without using their voice or traditional language. The character is fleshed out by their lack of traditional speech that way. His personality is still very much intact: recklessly brave and overconfident. It's not entirely baseless, though; Well, Verdalken seems unfamiliar with Scrappy’s super strength, but all in all the amount of thought and effort still really pulls me in!  he's been very well trained by Maggie. :O Doggie martial arts??? He also idolizes and adores Scooby as much as she does Shaggy, despite the fact that he'll constantly show him up at every turn of the mystery (not on purpose, just doing his best to follow the "example" he imagines Scooby is setting for him). Not being talkative, I thought I'd have Maggie be the one who verbally expresses Scrappy's disposition, seeing as she shares most of it (like Scooby does with Shaggy); she'll be the one who says "Let me at 'em!" and brandishing her fists when a monster/criminal attacks, while Scrappy growls just-as-eagerly at her side...stronk baby <3 before Shag and Scoob snatch them up and run.

3.  Monster High: Shaggy Rogers,Scooby Doo+Scrappy Doo  by Ezio1-3

I haven’t seen monster high, but I like Scrappy’s AU look. It’s different, but not totally foreign.   Shaggy’s spiky hair is interesting as well!

 I'm drawing the Scooby Doo gang in Monster High! In this, the Scooby Doo Gang become exchange students for Monster High after being requested to help with Monster-human relations. They become popular students at the school for their mystery-solving skills and ability to solve any problems that might happen with their sleuthing skills. Nice take on how to handle real monsters.  Shaggy Rogers and Scooby Doo are terrified at first about going to school for real monsters, but once they find out that most monsters aren't any different than humans, Wow! Like in Ghoul School! they star getting used to life there and become close friends with monsters like Frankie Stein, Draculaura and Lagoona Blue. Scrappy Doo takes an immediate liking to the school  and becomes a personal fitness trainer for many young sports stars at Monster High despite his small stature and young age. I hope he’s unionized!

4.  SCRAPPY-DOO by HaleyKlineArt

This is a very unusual look for Scrappy. I love the eyes.  And the hearts. The hearts makes me smile, because I remember another thing about Scrappy was just how unapologetically affectionate he was (mostly to Scooby). He could fall off buildings and not break a bone on the show and he gave the best hugs too. Usually to Scooby.  Hehe. The collar is a nice touch, and it  just overall gives a really thoughtful feel to Scrappy’s connection.

5. The Little Talking Dog Wizard, by acla13

This may be based on the Wizards and Warlocks episode, where Scrappy is the party’s mage. The headpiece being like Scrappy’s collar is a nice touch.

6. SPLAT!, by Pembroke

See, guys, this is my goal.  Warner Bros isn’t giving Scrappy to us, but I still see this lovely neurodivergent boy all around, and I like talking about him, and defending him, and thinking about him.  So if this is the best we can get right now, we might as well make the most of it.

7. The Secret Origins of Scrappy-Doo

This is something by...me as an alt a few years back, and it’s very ridiculous. If it gets too ridiculous for you, then here’s a hint: Shaggy’s story is being told on April First.

Monster High doll collecting Questionnaire - answered

Finally had time to take photos for this thing. Hope it’s worth the wait!

1) Introduce yourself and tell us how long you’ve been collecting Monster High dolls! Hey y’all! My name’s Tori and I’ve been collecting Monster High since I think...either the end of 2014 or early 2015. Before S5 of the webisodes aired. 

2) How many MH dolls do you have?

Can I just say “a lot” and leave it at that? I kid I kid. I have like 27 Monster High dolls. That may not seem like a lot but I swear I just had 13 like four dolls ago...fingers crossed I didn’t forget to count anyone. That’s a sign of too many dolls :’D I also have two vinyl MH figures (Frankie and Draculaura) and a Rock Candy Draculaura figure.

3) Is Monster High your favorite doll line? Why or why not? Yes. Yes it is. Forever and ever. Took me a little while to realize it but as I accumulated dolls I realized most of my passion for collecting (as well as creative inspiration) revolved almost entirely around Monster High. That line is perfect for me in every way: tied to/inspired by classic Monsters, bold and edgy gothic fashion, a unique art style...I can’t tell you how much I’ve evolved as a creative individual since embracing my love of Monster High.

4) Who’s your favorite MH ghoul? 

I wish Cupid had stuck around in MH a little longer. I would’ve loved an elaborate dress (and makeup) for her!

5) Favorite Manster? My favorite Manster is actually Andy Beast from Skull Shores. Since he never reappeared in more than background shots and Mattel never produced a doll of him I’ll go with this guy:

6) Do you own any dolls of your favorite ghoul and/or manster? How many? I own one Deuce doll, his Boo York doll. He came with Cleo and I love Boo York Cleo so I had to get both. I actually hate how the writing team handled Deuce and their relationship in the movie: as far as I’m concerned it isn’t canon. (He fell so far from Ghouls Rule! Definitely the best part of that movie including his friendship with Frankie.)

7) Do you own any playsets? If so which one(s)? If not, is there a reason?

I found this at a thrift store. It didn’t have any accessories though. Still, I’m glad I own it <3 Considering I photograph Draculaura more than any of my other dolls.  I do wish I had another playset--either the catacombs or the Deadlux high school: they’d make such great backdrops for photography! Sadly I have no space.

8) Of the original main ghouls (including Ghoulia, Spectra and Abbey) which is your favorite? Got any dolls of them?

TA~DA! I’d actually also love to add Ghouls Rule Frankie to my collection but she’s not an immediate must-have.

9) Favorite character with only one doll release?

I know there were technically two but they’re essentially the same doll so it doesn’t count.

10) Character with too many dolls (in your opinion?) Uh...Toralei honestly. I don’t like her, I’ve never liked her but she pops up a lot more than I expected. Is this so there’s a matching bully in some of these sets or is she that popular and I’m the odd one out?

11) Any character you would’ve liked to see in a doll line that didn’t make it? (i.e. Lagoona in Sweet Screams or Draculaura in Power Ghouls, etc) Apart from another C.A. Cupid doll in like Dawn of the Dance or Dot Dead Gorgeous (can you imagine??) I would’ve loved to see Draculaura in Freak du Chic. I’m aware she had a Scarnival doll but that’s not the same thing. I want a doll with a similar design to her circus mini. I also think adding Lagoona to the “Scarily Ever After” line would’ve been neat (a la Little Mermaid, of course.) I know we saw her as a Mermaid in Great Scarier Reef” but I would’ve loved to see one with a fairytale twist.

Also more Sweet Screams dolls. Best line ever <3

12) Any ideas you would’ve liked to see in a doll line? An eighties glam-rock n roll band stylized after Jem and the Holograms but with a gothic edge. I’m not talking Fierce Rockers, I mean all of the core ghouls (with Ghoulia as like the manager) along with a better-designed Clawdeen. I didn’t mind what we got but she wasn’t “outrageous” enough for me. 

Also a “vintage-themed” line as an homage to the ghouls’ famous parents (including Operetta.)

13) Is there a “grail” MH doll for you? If so do you own it? I feel like my grail dolls keep changing. For a long time it was Collector Draculaura, then OG draculaura, then Dawn of the Dance Draculaura...then Ghouls Rule Frankie and the whole Sweet Screams crew. I guess I can’t make up my mind ^^; Truthfully I have most of these now so I’m pretty content with my collection. I still want a couple older dolls (CLAWDEEN and maybe OG Lagoona) as I’ve said and I must have all the Sweet Screams dolls. Beyond that I’m good. 

14) Thoughts on the cancelled Ever After High crossover? Okay so I will be forever annoyed Mattel didn’t wait to reboot everything until after the crossover. That said what I saw in the storyboards and posts floating around didn’t really impress me. There’s so much potential here and I feel like Mattel took the easiest route possible with it. If you’re going to crossover these two lines a) go ALL out with the designs and b) INVOLVE C.A. CUPID. Plus we’ll never know now if Astra Nova is the blue fairy/her daughter.

15) Thoughts on the 2016 reboot faces?

Why Mattel. Why was this necessary. 

With Vampirina and now Super Monsters you really should’ve stuck with your older audience. Or saved the “Monster Family” line exclusively for said younger audience and just scaled down the original line to remind your older crowd, collectors included, why we love this line. 

Heck, at this point I’d be happy with detailed collector-only lines released on like Amazon. A limited line is better than no Monster High at all, especially if it’s highly detailed and exceptionally spooky.

16) Thoughts on the 2016 “Monster Family” line?

So I like the idea behind this line but loathe the articulation. I held off buying Alivia and Kelpie for a long time because I hoped for better quality with later releases. Whoops. All of this said there was potential here to attract a younger crowd exclusively with a brighter and less-articulated family line. Siblings or not they could’ve avoided directly crossing over by merely mentioning the OG ghouls, instead focusing on friendships and relationships with their parents. That’s what I’d have done at least.

17) How bout the SDCC exclusives? What was your favorite? Do you own any? No and I wish I did ;-; While I wasn’t as impressed with them as the Ever After High exclusives I would’ve loved a Hexiciah doll. He’s actually my favorite “manster.” (Heck! You could’ve incorporated him into the crossover, being as he’s half fairy!) I should check ebay...

18) How about Amazon exclusives? I have two! The amazing and unique Draculaura who as far as I’m concerned is the best MH doll ever released and Zomby Gaga. The others never impressed me or lived up to the same quality promised in the first exclusive. I just couldn’t pass up a Lady Gaga monster!

19) Favorite Frankie Stein doll?

Aaah this is tough. All the Frankies I own are my favorite ^^; Sweet Screams, Freaky Fusion, her classroom doll I turned into a fearleading one, and while I don’t own her original doll (mine is the 2014 release) I love that one two. I also like Wave 2 Frankie and as I said Ghouls Rule. (Honestly though I thiiiiink Sweet Screams is number one...which is funny because I did not want her when I first started collecting. For whatever reason I thought I’d be happy with one doll of each character. Again I say: whoops)

20) Favorite Draculaura doll?

21) Favorite Clawdeen Wolf doll? Freak du Chic, her OG doll and I think Boo York. I’m so mad her outfit isn’t more stylish. Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it to buy her and like one of her fashion packs...but that’s actually more expensive on Amazon than her original doll! 

22) Favorite Cleo de Nile doll?

Originally Dawn of the Dance wasn’t a favorite but now that I own the doll I realize just how much she stands out (why wasn’t purple lipstick used more often???)

23) Favorite Lagoona Blue doll? Skull Shores, her OG doll and I think Dawn of the Dance. I’m not a big fan of the mohawk but I appreciate the detail in her outfit...plus I love blue makeup.

24) Favorite Ghoulia Yelps doll?

 I also like Sweet Screams (although she’s my least favorite of the line) and Dawn of the Dance. Honestly maybe I should’ve set my sights on that whole line XD Except I’m not the biggest fan of the Clawdeen and Frankie.

25) Favorite Spectra Vondergeist doll? I’m not as familiar with Spectra’s dolls but I think either Dot Dead Goregeous or Ghouls Night Out.

26) Favorite Abbey Bombinable doll? Sweet Screams <3

30) Favorite Toralei Stripe doll? I’m really not a fan of her dolls (Orange is such a hard color to compliment correctly) but I do kind of like the stark design in her Fierce Rockers doll.

31) Favorite Jinafire Long doll? I’m not a big fan of her dolls either (I feel the same way about Green that I do Orange) so I’ll say her “New Scaremester” doll.

32) Favorite Skelita Calaveras doll? Scarnival! I’m still half-tempted to purchase this doll one day...provided I can find her!

33) Favorite Howleen Wolf doll? Her original doll. I wish she hadn’t switched to straight/pink hair! The orange stood out in a good way. Someday I hope I find her in a thrift store...

34) Favorite Twyla Bogeyman doll? Freak du Chic

35) What do you do with your dolls? (Display them, take photos of them, etc) I display them, sometimes change their poses and I take photos! I’m still an amateur at that but I’m learning as I go and I think I’ve improved!

36) Is Monster High the only doll line you collect? Why or why not? Sort of? It’s the only line I primarily collect now. I keep my eye on a couple others in case something catches my eye but like I said I’m low on space.  Some of my other collections include: Ever After High (complete with maybe the exception of TriCastleon Lizzie Hearts one day) Super Heroes (this also includes high quality collectibles. One day I’d like Mystique but she’s only available on ebay and out of my price range right now. Plus I’ve found the production condition of each varies...) Disney Princesses/Frozen (sometimes I tell myself I should get Mulan for varying reasons but I’ve only taken photos of my Elsa doll so what does that tell you) Vampirina + Hotel Transylvania (This includes toys as well. HT seems to have wrapped up for the time being and as I’ve stated numerous times I’m fickle with Vampirina merchandise. Nonetheless both of these are technically ongoing) Equestria Girls (Done unless Hasbro releases a new Adagio Dazzle doll. Also fashion packs or  a dAYDREAM SHIMMER DOLL COME ON--ahem-- I’m still planning to get rid of most of my older dolls.) I tried getting into Disney’s “Attractionistas” but only acquired two before they stopped selling in the parks. To be honest the quality dropped anyway and they’ve only got basic articulation. I’m not sure I’m going to keep the ones I have...we’ll see.

37) Do you still collect Monster High dolls? (i.e. scour the internet and/or secondhand stores?) Technically? I got three for Christmas and still poke my head in thrift stores now and then. For the most part though I’m essentially finished, I only say I keep going because there are a few older dolls I will definitely have someday.

38) There’s a lot of new Monster doll/toy lines out now: thoughts if any? H’okay so here’s the Earth--

I make it a point to investigate new Monster lines: monsters are my life, nothing gives me greater creative fuel so it is my duty!

Right now there are technically three others out there although like I said, Hotel Transylvania seems to be out of stores. Don’t know if it’s still available on Amazon. The other two are Vampirina and Super Monsters. I’ve talked about them before--they’re largely for a much younger crowd, even younger than the MH reboot audience but there are some highlights for us older collectors if you love monsters as much as I do. I’m a big fan of world building and the spooky aesthetic: I love seeing how different franchises approach this. Character designs too: it can be a little tricky in the “family friendly monster” genre: a successful one balances spooky with well...friendly. I think Vampirina is most successful in this department. Super Monsters leans more towards the cutesy side.  That said, I actually prefer their world set up over Vampirina. As well as the approach to being a monster which isn’t surprising since Vampirina is essentially one giant whimsical metaphor. 

Super Monsters has only just joined the merchandise department which I know I’ve said before. I look forward to seeing how it evolves. Vampirina too: most of the toys, while cute, are more “toy” than doll and I’m not a big fan of gimmicks so I haven’t bought any of the singing dolls. Fingers crossed we get something a little more...elaborate? Even if it’s just a limited release (I do love the one figure/doll I have though! Best of the merchandise released so far <3)

Going back quickly to Hotel Transylvania...I maintain Jazware’s wasn’t the best choice of manufacturer. So many little things that needed a touch more thought. Although I will give them points for clothing quality and faceup!

39) And finally, what’s your favorite thing about Monster High? Can be past or present!

I think I’ve covered why I love it throughout this questionnaire: Monster High inspires me. It came into the world fresh and with a lot of creative power behind it. It turned so many heads and shook up the doll world as we know it. It brought monsters back into the light and that’s never gone away. If anything it’s blown up even more: that may not have happened without Monster High. Was the writing great? No. But the theme songs, the designs and especially the original lessons taught stood out on their own: Be yourself. Be unique. Be a monster.

Monster College Part 3

Rating PG, warnings mentions of underage drinking (not portrayed positively), and prescription medications (used as prescribed). 

Characters: Deuce Gorgon, Jackson Jekyll, Operetta, Cleo de Nile, Invisi-Billy, Frankie Stein, Robecca Steam, and Toralei Stripes

   After convincing Jackson to come out from hiding, Deuce decided to go back to his dorm room to meet his overly clingy girlfriend, Cleo de Nile. She insisted on spending every free moment with him.

The mummy princess laid sprawled on her back on Deuce’s bed. “We are totally going to Operetta’s party tonight, and then we need to have to throw one of our own,” Cleo told her boyfriend.

Deuce sighed, “Things are different now. I am going to have a lot of homework for my culinary arts degree. I also am going to have bi-weekly labs I need to be prepared for, and I still want to play basketball with Clawd and Heath sometimes, so I won’t always be able to be at your beck and call,” the gorgon boy explained.

“But Deuce,” the mummy princess cried, “we always do everything together.”

“Not everything,” Deuce countered.

“You know what I mean,” Cleo looked like she was about to throw one of her famous royal hissy fits.    

        Before Cleo could escalate, Jackson burst in through the door. Catching both Cleo and Deuce by surprise. Deuce turned towards Jackson and whispered, “Thanks, I owe you bro,”

The nerdy human boy shrugged his shoulders and sat down at his desk, he began to pull out the note books where he had written down all his homework.

“You’re just going to let him sit there, while we are in here?” Cleo asked Deuce with disgust.

“Well it’s his room too,” Deuce explained, “I’ve been thinking Cleo, it might be best if we have some space from each other.”

Cleo got a dumbfounded expression on her face. “I give you space,” Cleo was horrified that her boyfriend would make such a statement.  “I always give you space,”

 Deuce clicked his tongue, “No you don’t, when we were in high school you would barely let me leave to go to the men’s bathroom.” Deuce knew he wasn’t going to win this, but he could make it sound less bad. “I’m not breaking up with you, I’ll even go to Operetta’s party with you. I just can’t spend all my time with you,” the gorgon boy explained.  The look Cleo got on her face suggested that she might have actually understood him.

 “I didn’t realize you were throwing a party,” Invisi-Billy admitted.

 “Well, Johnny and I thought it would a clawsome way to start the school year before we hit the grind. You can invite Scarah, she’s still your huckleberry, ain’t she,” Operetta shot Billy a sassy glance.  

 “Um, yes. I just don’t know if this kind of party is really her thing.” The disappearing boy admitted.    

“You don’t have to worry. It’s not some crazy party, just some cool music played by Johnny and me and some pizza and soda pop. There absolutely will not be any booze, everyone but Johnny and Valentine are underage. I may not like rules, but I don’t want to spend the rest of my days doing the jail house rock.”  The Phantom’s daughter gave Billy a great big smile as she started to walk away she called out one more thing with a laugh, “Be there or be square,”

Back at the dorm Deuce and Cleo were helping Jackson decide what to wear to Operetta’s party in hopes of impressing Frankie. “Jackson, why are all your clothes almost the same,” the mummy princess said with disgust in her voice. Jackson awkwardly shrugged his shoulders. Cleo pulled a pair of blue plaid shorts and a yellow polo shirt from Jackson’s dresser, “These will be prefect.  Put them on a see how they look,” Cleo ordered the human boy.

“Just don’t look while I change,” Jackson snapped.

Jackson felt awkward in the clothes, “I look stupid,” he lamented.

“You look amazing,” Cleo gushed, “now we just need to slick back all your out of control hair.”  The mummy princess sprayed some sort of gel like substance in Jacksons black hair with yellow tips that were caused by a lab accident. She pulled hard with a comb until his hair finally slicked down. “Do you have any contacts?” she asked him,

Jackson sighed, “No, my eyes are to sensitive for that. But I do have prescription sunglasses,” the nerdy human boy offered.

“It’s at night and you don’t have Deuce’s petrifying ability, stick with the regular glasses. I’ll just put some of this magical acne cream invented by Great Uncle Tut. Then you will perfect. Frankie will be so impressed.”  

 Meanwhile, Invisi-Billy sat in his room. Heath was playing Graveyard Dash 5 on his x-box. Robecca Steam sat next to Billy on his bed. Robecca was a steampunk robot who had been built in Victorian England, though she was technically really old she was young at heart and  an amazing listener.

“I don’t know how to tell Scarah that I want to change my major?” the invisible boy asked his robotic friend, “She was so excited about me wanting to become a doctor. I don’t know how my parents will feel about it either.” A small tear rolled down Billy’s pale face.

 “If they truly love you, they will support you in whatever you choose to do educationally.” Robecca said in her in her charming British accent.  

“Thank you,” Billy said with a smile, “you are a great listener.”

        Operetta’s party at the student union was up to an awesome start.  She was playing a gentle Rockabilly tune on her bass guitar, and Johnny Spirit accompanied her on his fiddle. The Rockabilly phantom and the ghostly greaser were taking care to not play there music too loud for Jackson’s sake. Cleo and Deuce, Lagoona and Gil were dancing in pairs to the music. Billy and Scarah were talking to each other by the food table, and Heath was trying to flirt awkwardly with Abbey Bominable.

  While all this was going on, Jackson sat by himself away from the stage. Frankie, the daughter of Frankenstein’s monster, spied him right away. She was wearing a blue plaid print party dress with a yellow sweater. Frankie’s black and white hair was styled in away that Jackson found beautiful. “What are you wearing?” she asked with a laugh.  

 Jackson gave a small chuckle, “Cleo chose this outfit.”

    “It shows. It looks a bit flashy for you,” the stitched together girl explained.

    “You don’t like it?” Jackson asked with a tone of concern in his voice.

     “I do like it, I love anything you wear, because I love you,” Frankie explained.

    “Have you been taking your anxiety medication? You’ve seen a bit more high-strung than normal.” The Frankenstein girl explained.  

 “I’ve been taking it as prescribed” Jackson explained, “I’m just having a difficult time adjusting to the changes of going away for college for the first time.”

      Frankie looked at Jackson sympathetically, she reached out and gently touched his hand, “We’ll get through this together”.

A young male vampire walked up to the stage. His was dressed in black dress coat, crimson waist coat, paired with a white ruffle shirt accented with gold jewelry, all trademarks of Valentine, a once suiter of Draculaura who had once liked to collect broken hearts. “I would like to request a song,” he called out in his Southern accent.

“Ok, sugar plum, but me and Johnny here have one more in our line up first,” Operetta called out.

The Rockabilly phantom and the ghostly greaser started to play an upbeat toon. “Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans, way back in the woods among the evergreens, There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood, And lived a country boy named Johnny B Goode,” Operetta and Johnny Spirit sang together, “ he never learned to read or write to well but he could play a guitar like ringing a bell, Go Johnny Go, Go Joh—” a loud noise interrupted the song.

It sounded almost like gunshots at first but then became it was terrible hip-hop music being blasted through a boombox. “You didn’t think you could have a party and not invite me,” Toralei the catty and conceited orange were-cat meowed.  

 Operetta grew mad, “I didn’t invite you because you remind me of a word that begins a “B” and rhymes with “hitch”, you are selfish and think it’s fun to ruin things that are important to other people.” The Rockabilly phantom was getting steamed, her light lilac color face started to turn red.

“But Operetta,” Toralei said coyishly, “ I don’t think only of myself. That’s why I had Manny bring the booze.”

A look of horror came over the faces of many of the monsters at the party. Before anyone could say anything, the large Minotaur burst in with a keg over each shoulder, followed by some fraternity goons carrying other cases of alcoholic beverages.

“Please take your booze and leave,” Robecca demanded. But unfortunately, her voice was drowned out by the goons yelling, and the booming hip-hop music.

“Please stop!!!” Jackson yelled out in panic as he tried to cover his ears, but it was no use. He had already started to transform.

doll mail arrived! this time, we’re taking a look at skulltimate secrets 4! featuring an all new packaging, completely different from the last 3 lines. these dolls retail for 29.99 each.

one change i already like- you can partially see the doll through the gates. this should hopefully curb the problem of people removing the doll, then turning it back into the store with nothing in the locker, since it’s blind packaging.

with this new setup, you can’t see them *well* but you can tell if the right doll is in there. you can also see if the paper accessory packs are in there as well.

i opened draculaura first. here’s the gate with no cardboard on it.

here she is freed. i realized i did the gimmick completely wrong lol, you’re supposed to build a little thing to put in the center slot and then push the doll up to reveal her. or you can do what i did and just pull the doll out through the top.

she has poly hair, though i think it’s treated in some way. it doesn’t feel toooo bad… and well, i really like the color for this drac so….

face carddddddd… this is a really cute drac! i love how much more they’re leaning into a dark lip with her. though this bold heart over one eye might make her a little more difficult to restyle.

since skulltimate secrets is a deluxe line, they come with a lot of stuff. a second set of shoes, sweat shorts, leg warmers, fingerless gloves, a headset, a bodice piece, a bag, what i think is a little keychain for the bag, a water bottle, hairbrush, hangers, pieces to the gate slider, and a stand clip.

shoe check btw. the heel-less heels add a LOT of height. apprecuate that theres printing on these shoes, not just a gradient etc.

here’s the first outfit set, the stage set. super cute! i love the fabric tights. though, im slightly bothered by the pink part of the bodice being a different shade of pink to any other piece on her…. lol.

here she is in her second outfit, the practice outfit! definitely cute, though i think more fun for play factor for kids. i think the first outfit is more displayable.

fun thing they added: you can now hang up the spare clothes in the actual gate! this was actually a DIY a lot of people did with the old skulltimate lockers, so i’m happy to see it included officially with these.

you are also able to clip the dolls to the gate itself with the provided stand clip! unfortunately, putting it on the lowest option is *still* too tall for drac, who is floating a little off the ground when shes clipped in with these shoes. i’ll still be using my own stand.

obligatory .5 shot. that’s SS4 drac! super cute, and i’m happy with the changes they made to the unboxing process with these guys. next up, abbey! (i’m gonna hit image limit lol)
