POV: Evil murder kitten tries to evil murder you in your sleep. She's desperate for a reason not to evil murder you because she does not want to.

adrienette break up SHOULD be initiated by marinette AND it will result in yet another Iconic Marichat Moment where Adrien guiltily goes to her as chat out of desperation to just BE with her again in some way and she cries in his arms about the ex-boyfriend she still loves and when he asks her ‘why don’t you just get back together with him if you still love him? if it was a mistake I’m sure he’d understand I’m sure he’d be so happy to have you back’ and she just weakly murmurs ‘I can’t…’ to him and sounds so pained that he realizes that he shouldn’t try and get back together bc no matter what the reason is marinette’s clearly hurting and well. The FIA has confirmed that their investigation into Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff has been dropped, and that there is no concerning conflict of interest nor has any confidential information been shared without authorization
But that does not erase the fact that the FIA based their entire investigation on a tabloid with a pattern of misogyny. It does not negate that the FIA decided an unsubstantiated article demeaning and defaming an accomplished woman in motorsport was all that was necessary to start investigating when they have previously responded with far less to far more
I would like to thank the FIA for one thing, though. They managed to do the impossible and get every single F1 team on the same page
#can’t wait to see the FIA launch dozens of similar investigations about all of the other potential conflicts of interest in F1#because that would only be fair#now they have to do their due diligence and continue the pattern#f1#formula 1#formula one

Gonna start making another DPXDC writing challenge where I’ll make a bingo card generation that contains super popular tropes in the fandom.
The goal is to not write said tropes. Bingo of tropes to avoid and even more of a bonus if you do a blackout board on the tropes you didn’t do.
Reply with the most common DPxDC tropes ya can think of so I can add them to the Blackout Bingo List :)
#mostly doing lack of tropes bc doing ONLY tropes would be hard as a lot of tropes conflict with each other and would be hard to program#or find a program that’ll do what I want (like having Demon Twins and every /Batfam pairing under the sun would be hard to manage#bones speaks#dpxdc#it’ll be blackout bingo where you’re blacking out all popular tropes#then I’m gonna do one where it’s blackout bingo board of all popular tropes.. thatll be a bit harder as some tropes conflict XD#this is to put folks in a Situation to try to make new potential tropes or ideas they never would have thought of otherwise!#if ya put folks in a box that’s what spurr people to the most creativity or whatever the qoute is#maybe it can be one fic at a time too? idk I’m working it out and rn this is just a thought

However, when he attempts to leave the IPC, tragedy strikes, claiming your life in reality this time. Bound to the IPC, haunted by memories of you, he is left yearning for a life he can never have.

A/N: AHHHH!!! 😭 THAT'S SO MEAN BUT SO GOOD TOO?! MY BABY!!! 🥺💔
(Part 1)
The memory clung to Aventurine like a shadow—one he could never shake. He could still recall every detail from that day years ago, the day he’d thought he’d lost you forever. In his mind, it was as if he were back there now, reliving the dreadful series of events that tore you from his life.
It had started with an anonymous tip. He’d been in the heart of IPC headquarters, surrounded by the opulent furnishings and hushed power plays that were his world, when he received the message. The vague words scrawled across the screen still felt burned into his mind: An unexpected death in IPC’s ranks. Don’t ask too many questions.
At first, he’d dismissed it as some cruel joke or an attempt to provoke him. But as whispers circulated, he’d felt an ache that reached far deeper than any professional ambition or loyalty to the IPC. His instincts screamed at him that something was wrong. His fingers shook when he finally demanded details from an IPC informant. They had tried to placate him with silence, then with excuses, before finally leading him to a private room where they produced a list of names lost in action. His eyes landed on yours.
His heart had shattered. And in that moment, the world he’d so carefully built around him crumbled. The IPC, his title, every ounce of the strategic power he wielded felt like a joke, a hollow nothing in the face of your loss. Days bled into weeks, then months as he clawed through records, files, and whispers, desperate to uncover anything that could prove this had been a mistake. Eventually, after countless sleepless nights and fading hope, he resigned himself to a cruel reality: you were gone.
In the present, Aventurine had all but lost himself in your kiss, his hands cradling your face as if afraid you might disappear again. But now that he’d found you, he couldn’t imagine letting you slip away. You’d barely finished promising him you weren’t going anywhere when he whispered urgently, “Come with me. I'll leave the IPC. We can start over, together.”
The idea hung in the air, and the look on your face said you wanted it as much as he did. The life you’d built in hiding had given you some solace, but nothing compared to the warmth that had returned the moment you’d locked eyes with him again.
“I want to, Aventurine,” you murmured, your voice soft with hope but tinged with caution. “But you know, you leaving IPC isn’t going to be that simple.”
He gave a wry smile, the familiar gleam of his gambler’s spirit returning to his gaze. “Since when have I ever played it safe?”
It was settled. Together, you and Aventurine began planning a final escape from IPC, the promise of a quiet, shared life filling every unspoken moment between you.
Weeks later, the two of you were ready. Aventurine had secured falsified documents, disguises, and even an old shuttle that he’d salvaged and reprogrammed to slip through IPC scanners. His heart thrummed with excitement as he held your hand, the two of you ducking into back alleys and secret passages within IPC’s labyrinthine halls, moving closer to the shuttle bay with each step.
But just as freedom felt within reach, a familiar voice stopped him cold.
“Aventurine,” called a smooth, calculating voice—a voice he knew well, belonging to his superior within IPC, one of the few who could see through his every bluff. “Going somewhere?”
A team of armed operatives closed in, blocking your escape route, and Aventurine felt his stomach sink as he saw the trap closing around you both.
“What’s this?” he asked smoothly, masking his fear with a cocky grin as he positioned himself protectively in front of you. “A farewell party?”
His superior raised a brow, her gaze shifting to you before returning to him. “Leaving isn’t an option for a Stoneheart. Surely you know that.”
He cast a glance over his shoulder, meeting your eyes, silently urging you to stay close, to trust him just one last time. “Then let me make it clear,” he replied, stepping forward, his voice steady. “I’m done with IPC. And if you want me, you’ll have to get through us both.”
In the ensuing chaos, you and Aventurine fought with everything you had, desperate for one last chance at freedom. But just as you were about to reach the shuttle, a shot rang out.
You stumbled, a look of shock crossing your face as blood bloomed from your side. Aventurine’s heart seized. “No,” he whispered, catching you as you collapsed into his arms. “No, no, please… we were almost there.”
Your eyes met his, filled with a quiet acceptance he couldn’t bear. “It’s okay, Aventurine,” you murmured, your hand weakly reaching to touch his face. “I’m just sorry… I couldn’t give you the life we dreamed of.”
Tears he’d fought so long to hide spilled over as he held you, pressing his forehead to yours. “No, no, please don’t… I can’t do this without you.” But even as he clung to you, your grip grew weaker, your breaths fainter.
When your hand slipped from his cheek, Aventurine was left cradling your lifeless form, his vision blurring as grief consumed him. He’d lost you once before, but nothing had prepared him for the agony of losing you again—for real this time.
In the end, IPC dragged him back, broken and hollow, the final remnant of his old life slipping through his fingers. He returned to the office and his title as a Stoneheart, each day haunted by the love he’d sacrificed to leave the IPC, each night dreaming of a life he’d never know.
And so Aventurine remained, a prisoner of the world he’d once called his own, but now bound by grief—a gambler who’d lost his most precious wager.

My most non-canon tsh headcanon is that richard and his mother have the Most Complicated Relationship Ever, his father's physical abuse just takes up more space in his memories but it's his mother's Everything that sits heavy in his subconscious (though he doesn't have the self awareness to recognize this).
there's no proof to this, his mother literally has like one line in the whole book, i know i know. but in my heart of hearts, i believe that boy should have some mommy issues.
#richard just has So much potential when it comes to parental problems in a way the others don't imo#and i mean the relationship has that 'i had a kid when i didn't want to cuz of my partner/to save the relationship but I Didn't Want A Kid'#and voila! you have a complicated relationship bw a mother and a son she didn't want and only sort of loves but still wants a good life for#make richard's mom a lot younger than his dad and you have a perfect conflict#also make richie boy trans and the conflict becomes even better#anyways this is my insane headcanon#the secret history#tsh#richard papen

Hello, I loved what you wrote about JasonX innocent virgin reader, could you do one like that with Dick GraysonX innocent virgin reader please!!!!
Warning: f!reader, first time, oral sex, fingering
Word count: 800
Dick would simply be the sweetest if you told him, midst making out on his lap, that you’ve never done anything like this before. Silly you, of course he could tell already! With your face so flushed and hands fumbling at his shirt just from some minor touching, it didn’t take him much guesses to figure out that you never went much further from here.
But you have nothing to worry about when you are with Dick. After all, he’d always taken such good care of you, hadn’t he?
He didn’t mind the way you clung to him desperately as he gently kissed his way down your neck (the first time he had gone below your jaw, may you add). In fact, it might have made him gloat a little when he could feel your body heating up at all the sweet nothings he mumbled against your skin as he licked and nibbled, large palms caressing the side of your thighs until he coaxed you to spread your legs for him.
Dick cooed when you twitched, your fingers clawing at the sheets as the pad of his middle finger traced the shape of your folds clinging to your cotton panties, a wet patch already forming on the fabric.
“Here,” he mused, taking you by the wrist and guiding your palm to the nape of his neck, where you instinctively started playing with his curls nervously, “here, here.”
He bit back a moan when you fisted his hair unexpectedly upon the feeling of his thumb pressing down on your clit, a charming smile tugging at his lips when he flicked against the hardened bud softly over the fabric.
“Come on,” you buried your face into the crook of his neck as he hooked his finger into the elastic, his nail dragging alone your hips,” let’s take these off, yeah?”
Your pussy twitched at the vibration from the back of his throat, the stickiness evident against your skin as he peeled your underwear off.
“Dick…” you hid your face in embarrassment when he laid you on the mattress and trailed kisses along your abdomen, his handsome face now hovering above your bare cunt.
“Sh…” you could only see the wiggling of his eyebrows, but the breath fanning against your core still had your legs threatening to clamp tight around his shoulders, “lay back baby. Promise I’ll take good care of you, yeah?”
And Dick would never be mean to you, he couldn’t bring himself to be, even though the thought of making you squirm and sob while he forces your legs open does send a mischievous spark down his spine, that would be for later. For now, all he wanted was to make sure that his sweet little princess would be seeing heaven by the time he was done.
So focused, in fact, that he did not even notice that his skilful tongue and nimble fingers were far too much for you to handle.
He was slow and gentle at first, starting with languish licks along your sopping folds and tiny circles on your clit. But the first, real moan you let out put him in a trance, and he was far too tempted by the urge to hear more to notice your legs kicking and back arching off the mattress in orgasmic bliss.
Again, and again, and again.
One finger turned into two fingers scissoring against your walls, while his thumb tugged at the hood that covered your sensitive clit, his supple lips sucking and licking and kissing at the engorged bud. The hair at the back of your neck stood up when he slurped at the juices that ran down your thigh, his tongue only stopping when he was lapping up your arousal.
It felt so good it almost hurt, and you didn’t even know that you could cum so many times in a row.
He hadn’t even gotten to the actual sex yet, and you were already on the verge of tears.
“Dick, Dick!”
His name came out of your mouth as a pleading mewl, and he finally stopped. You gulped at the sight of your release glistening on his face, the wetness covering his strong jaw and lips. You could almost cum again just from the way his piercing blue eyes stared at you in earnest hunger from between your legs.
Your walls pulsed when he pulled his fingers out, and your face heated up when you saw the silver stringers that coated the slender digits as he spread them.
You already wanted him bad, but your body ached for him when he darted his tongue out and licked each of his soaked fingers clean, lips pulling away with a lewd “pop”.
“Please?” You tried your best to keep your wobbly legs open, batting your eyes at him in a silent plea.
Needless to say, Dick Grayson never needs you to ask twice for anything.
#this took a while because I simply don’t see as much appeal for the concept with dick#because I think it genuinely wouldn’t matter to him??? like he’d take things slow for your sake but it wouldn’t matter sentimentally#Jason though I see enough potential self loathing for there to be a conflict#dick grayson x reader#dick grayson smut#nightwing x reader#nightwing smut

What did/do you like about Pharah?
Uh, gameplay-wise, I really love characters in shooters who rely on three-dimensional movement techs. Chaining together hover and jump to stay in the air for as long as possible and keep momentum is so satisfying, and picking enemies off from the sky made me feel like a bird of prey. I was a good Pharah main.
Story-wise, there unfortunately isn't much to canonically go off because Pharah is so underutilized and neglected. Her personality's pretty boilerplate "heroic hero" (she's literally inspired by Captain America).
But it's the crumbs/bits and pieces that I really latched onto. Pharah's a confirmed lesbian; her short story with Baptiste implies she harbors a crush on Mercy (fucking thank you.). She's biracial Egyptian/First Nations. She has major mommy issues, having grown up both admiring and resenting Ana. She's the bridge between Old Overwatch, inspired by the idealized heroes who surrounded her childhood, and New Overwatch. She's one of the only inter-generational characters in the cast; someone whose experiences span the gap, which is why I seriously believe Pharah would make a great main character.
There isn't much to go off of, though; she's a very uncomplicated character (she's a soldier for a private military corporation, lol.). But that just means she's a blank slate character, so I've seen fanfic writers run wild and create some really interesting takes on her. My favorite interpretation of her's a dense, herbo gym-bro type (a lot of her liens are about work outs, exercising, and playing sports) who's easily excitable under her seemingly self-serious, armored visage. We see how she tends to gloat and hype herself up when she's on a streak too, so Pharah definitely has a competitive and boastful side under her more professional and militant performance.
Now Mercy? Mercy is a real complex character.
#i was a diehard pharmercy shipper back then btw#the inherent homoerotic experience of pharmercy gameplay.#the homoerotic experience of looking to the skies to fly to safety under the protection of your knight in shining armor#the homoerotic experience of feeling white hot murderous rage at an enemy trying to pick off your pocket mercy#i still kinda despise gency lmao. you cannot convince me mercy would be in love with genji. at all.#he'd make her feel so uncomfortable and guilty. in my head. the canon is obviously different#gency is sexless. absolutely zero bite or tension.#i could go on about mercy and how her character has so much missed potential#i'm no longer in my overwatch fandom phase but#i still think about that new flirty line they added in ow2 where mercy goes “ahh you're like my knight in shining armor!”#and pharah goes “that's what i'm goin for ;)” and i sigh dreamily#really happy that pharah outright says she's a lesbian too but it's hard to feel good about rep when you know blizzard uses it for pr#to be honest i'm willing to bet cash that blizzard's keeping pharmercy in their back pocket as ammo for the next controversy#last year we already saw logs about pharah fretting and taking care of mercy and the two talking about how good it is to see each other#tbh pharah has the same energy/demeanor as applejack. cheerful and competitive in a can of whoopass#but yeah overall pharah's a pretty shallow character. i have IDEAS on how i'd go about deepening her but. whatever#that's sorta what happens when you have to juggle a cast of 40 characters. a lot get left with the bare minimum#ok so i wrote this entire post up saying that pharah isn't in ow2's storymode when she is. she's in the story i just. forgot#because she doesn't do or contribute anything interesting#ok i'm stopping here. overwatch's story is such an interesting narrative mess i could go on for hours#i dunno how you come up with such incredible character designs and give them such an unincredible story#it's also so so so interesting seeing the conflicting takes on characters the writers have#mercy in gameplay and voicelines is peppy and cheerful and optimistic#but mercy in the storymode journal logs is tired. jaded. a total shut in who forgets to leave her room and social#and YES! THAT'S WHAT I WANT!!! THAT'S MERCY TO ME!!! THE DOCTOR WHO FORGETS TO TAKE CARE OF HERSELF#ask me#anon

obviously things about the feud between frank and leo could have been executed better but one thing i do actually like about it is that both of them, in their intro books, reference being bullied in the past, and both of them have low self esteem and are seen as outcasts by others. which means that when they fight with each other, neither of them ever really sees himself as doing anything wrong because they’re both used to being on the receiving end of bullying and don’t really comprehend that they’re engaging in it themselves. more under the cut
annabeth and hazel have to explain to frank and leo respectively that the other is intimidated by them, and neither of them can really internalize that until late in the book. and leo can also justify his actions by being intimidated by frank, but he’s also intimidated by percy and annabeth, to the extent that he makes significantly less jokes at their expense, so intimidation is not actually what's motivating his antagonism. he enjoys being able to get a rise out of frank and looking smarter than him, and clearly knows that its different than teasing the people he’s actually friends with. likewise frank has no issue aiming for the jugular once he feels threatened and doesn’t seem to feel even slightly guilty about being mean to leo. and their own insecurities give them insight into the other's insecurities, which they then proceed to use against the other, (“am i worth two franks or three franks” from the guy who blew up new rome, “you care more about your ship than your friends” from the guy very obviously not considering leo to be his friend), all without admitting, to themselves or anyone else, that they’re jealous of the other. they're both projecting heavily, they both very much match each other's energy, and they have the entire ship cringing every time the two of them interact.
and i like that! it’s even one of the reasons that i ship them together, because it gives both their interactions an edge that neither of them have with other characters. they both have massive chips on their shoulders that are somewhat justified by their pasts, but it also can turn them into assholes. i like that the conflict between them revealed deeply buried mean streaks in two typically friendly characters. i think it reflects a certain type of teenage bullying where the mindset isn't "i'm going to antagonize this person i don't like," its "this person makes me feel bad and i'm reacting to it." its realistic! frank and leo show each other’s character flaws and blind spots, and the end result of it is genuine character development and growth for both once they actually try to get to know each other. and they get to a point of resolution without completely changing their personalities or erasing their flaws. its them finding genuine understanding without sandpapering away what makes their character's interesting.
#the hazel of it all does make it somewhat convoluted but i think there would have been a problem between them without her#their personalities were going to clash. frank's too sensitive/leo's not sensitive enough. leo could potentially kill frank at any second.#they are both insecure little monsters when pressed. the ingredients were all there#i think there's more to say on their relationships with percy and jason versus their relationship to each other#and how jealousy manifests in all of those relationships but thats another post#valzhang#there's more to this i think i rewrote it a couple of times#tldr: i love character driven conflict where both characters are wrong

Before officially meeting, do you think Matthew and Diana ever just casually passed each other while on campus? Cause I'm imagining Gallowglass watching from an undetectable distance, seeing Diana cross a courtyard, going in the opposite direction of Matthew and Gallowglass is just simultaneously panicking and relieved.
Gallowglass: Oh my God, it's happening! They're going to finally meet! After centuries of waiting and decades of watching, Diana will finally be- Wait! Why is she walking away? Auntie! Turn back right now! Matthew! Turn around and go meet your wife!
They both continue on their way, completely oblivious to who they just walked past.
Gallowglass, unable to decide if this was a good or bad thing: Ok, they didn't meet this time. So, I don't have to leave her yet. But it'll be sooner rather than later now. At least she'll be happy when they do meet...
#I'm really conflicted about the potential Gallowglass book cause we'll get so much more insight but the poor guy is really going to suffer#a discovery of witches#shadow of night#the book of life#diana bishop#matthew de clermont#gallowglass#deborah harkness#all souls trilogy

malevolent au where kayne decides to give john a body, hooray! the catch? it’s parker’s corpse.
also arthur’s still blind so he can’t tell… but john Knows. and he refuses to tell arthur because he knows that’d be beyond painful. so he just sits there while arthur’s like “it’s nice that you have a body now john :)” and john is just “UH HUH. YES.” while he pilots arthur’s dead best friend who he killed
#malevolent#john doe malevolent#arthur lester#i just think this has ripe humor and angst potential#also john’s ability to see the memories of the dead is partially in effect#it means that parker’s death is the Only thing he can dream about#so he just has to watch arthur killing him over and over#he doesn’t sleep much. it worries arthur.#the extent of arthur’s conflict is him poorly adjusting to john not being with him (so to speak) anymore#but john has to grapple with both ‘I have a body now’ and ‘IT’S PARKER’S’ at once#anyway I thought this was a funny idea#john’s having a rough go of it

It'd just be so amusing to me, having Starscream find out Knockout and Optimus are dating and just being like 'How dare they?!' He tries to be aggressive and angry about it but with the power of OP's gentleness and KO being KO, he just ends up in the same bed as them by the end of the week and realizes that for the first time in a while he feels...good. Flustered, but good.
Also, I imagine the Autobots would be annoyed having not one, but two Decepticons (or former Decepticons) manage seduce their leader and live with them.
-💌 anon
yeah i wouldn't blame starscream for folding like origami in that situation. i'd be weak too, considering that you've got the supreme dilf robot and the king of twunks himself both vying for starscream to join them in bed. they're already two different flavors of sexy. all they need now is for the bot with the finest legs on cybertron to join them.
and yeah, i imagine starscream would come around to enjoy it, both because he's got two partners to spoil him now and because the interfacing is enough to make him hard reboot.
as for the autobots being annoyed... well, at least having two (ex?) decepticons for boyfriends helps with autobot-decepticon public relations, lmfao
#this might actually make for a really fun fic#hmmm might have to draft something with this idea#maybe four or five chapters of starscream being conflicted before eventually getting his world rocked?#has potential hmmm#transformers#starscream#transformers prime#tfp starscream#optimus prime#tfp optimus prime#knock out#tfp knockout#valveplug mention#answering things

Thinking about Elizabeth Woodville as a gothic heroine is making me go insane. She entered the story by overturning existing social structures, provoking both ire and fascination. She married into a dynasty doomed to eat itself alive. She was repeatedly associated with the supernatural, both in terms of love and death. Her life was shaped entirely by uncanny repetitions - two marriages, two widowhoods, two depositions, two flights to sanctuary, two ultimate reclamations - all paralleling and ricocheting off each other. Her plight after 1483 exposed the true rot at the heart of the monarchy - the trappings of royalty pulled away to reveal nothing, a never-ending cycle of betrayal and war, the price of power being the (literal) blood of children. She lived past the end of her family name, she lived past the end of her myth. She ended her life in a deeply anomalous position, half-in and half-out of royal society. She was both a haunting tragedy and the ultimate survivor who was finally free.
#elizabeth woodville#nobody was doing it like her#I wanted to add more things (eg: propaganda casting her as a transgressive figure and a threat to established orders; the way we'll never#truly Know her as she's been constantly rewritten across history) but ofc neither are unique to her or any other historical woman#my post#wars of the roses#don't reblog these tags but - the thing about Elizabeth is that she kept winning and losing at the same time#She rose higher and fell harder (in 1483-85) than anyone else in the late 15th century#From 1461 she was never ever at lasting peace - her widowhood and the crisis of 1469-71 and the actual terrible nightmare of 1483-85 and#Simnel's rebellion against her family and the fact that her birth family kept dying with her#and then she herself died right around the time yet another Pretender was stirring and threatening her children. That's...A Lot.#Imho Elizabeth was THE adaptor of the Wars of the Roses - she repeatedly found herself in highly anomalous and#unprecedented situations and just had to survive and adjust every single time#But that's just...never talked about when it comes to her#There are so many aspects of her life that are potentially fascinating yet completely unexplored in scholarship or media:#Her official appointment in royal councils; her position as the first Englishwoman post the Norman Conquest to be crowned queen#and what that actually MEANT for her; an actual examination of the propaganda against her; how she both foreshadowed and set a precedent#for Henry VIII's english queens; etc#There hasn't even been a proper reassessment of her role in 1483-85 TILL DATE despite it being one of the most wildly contested#periods in medieval England#lol I guess that's what drew me to Elizabeth in the first place - there's a fundamental lack of interest or acknowledgement in what was#actually happening with her and how it may have affected her. There's SO MUCH we can talk about but historians have repeatedly#stuck to the basics - and even then not well#I guess I have more things to write about on this blog then ((assuming I ever ever find the energy)#also to be clear while the Yorkists did 'eat themselves alive' they also Won - the crisis of 1483-85 was an internal conflict within#the dynasty that was not related to the events that ended in 1471 (which resulted in Edward IV's victory)#Henry Tudor was a figurehead for Edwardian Yorkists who specifically raised him as a claimant and were the ones who supported him#specifically as the husband of Elizabeth of York (swearing him as king only after he publicly swore to marry her)#Richard's defeat at Bosworth had *nothing* to do with 'York VS Lancaster' - it was the victory of one Yorkist faction against another#But yes the traditional line of succession was broken by Richard's betrayal and the male dynastic line was ultimately extinguished.

I keep seeing posts criticizing Rogue for her most explored conflict being how her powers affect her romantic relationships, and I don't wanna be like "those people don't get it" because, of course, it's not that simple. It's a matter of opinion to go "I don't hate Rogue I just wish she'd stop having intimacy-related conflicts because I feel she's defined by the men in her life". But I don't agree...
I've seen posts that are like "I'm sick of the romance, do something else, what if her powers did something in this scenario? in this scenario?" and you can have that and still have the romance because, like it or not, it's just a part of Rogue's character. The conflict has the potential to be poorly written, but it also can be amazingly written and I feel these people would still dismiss it because it has to do with romance and romance is frilly and frou-frou and has no substance to them when coming from a woman's perspective. Maybe I'm assuming too much, but it comes off that way.
I think it's fine for a female character to be preoccupied with romance and to place physical intimacy on a pedestal because its something she can't have/can't normally have. That's just human. People fixate on things, and it can get exhausting watching this character beat herself down, but that's how you're supposed to feel. I mean, if you get to the point where you're just sick of the story, yeah it's just not for you. But it is exhausting to have this insecurity eating at you constantly, making you feel less-than, making you feel unworthy of affection because you can't give or receive it in the way you imagine is the most important.
Of course, it's a conflict that needs resolving. It's just that it's not a conflict you can resolve in one interaction. Rogue will need to actively tackle her insecurity every day of her life. She'll have to power through seeing others share bare touches without beating herself up about it and shamefully cutting herself off from those who love her. And you know, maybe, every day it gets easier to accept that this isn't the life she wished for, but it's the life she has, and she's blessed to have that life and to have a partner who loves her just as fervently as he would if he could touch her. She doesn't need touch to prove her love is real because it just is.
#rogue#anna marie lebeau#rogue baby they could never make me hate you#and again#these stories have full potential to be poorly written- to bring too much of a male focus to what is rogue's internal conflict#but when that's not the case just because it maybe doesn't resonate with you doesn't mean it's not a worthwhile story to tell#x men#x men 97#I feel like 97 (even with its rushed pacing) did well at showing Rogue realize that touch is not the thing that makes a relationship
