I’m not the first person to say this, but mischaracterization of Bumblebee in the TFONE fandom is honestly kind of crazy.
The infantilization aspect of it is really problematic, because it treats a full-grown man like the “kid” of the group. Bumblebee’s been slotted into this role because he’s often depicted as playing a son-like role to Optimus, which I of course *love,* generally speaking, but that’s not the role they went with in this movie, and B is still getting slotted into this role.
But in TFONE, B is actually quite possibly older than Orion Pax and D-16. We don’t know, but he’s been in Sublevel 50 for so long, he very well could be, and there’s nothing at all suggesting he’s younger than them.
Unlike in other iterations, B isn’t an “apprentice” to Optimus, either. He’s been at his side since *before* the Autobots were founded, which, since the Autobots will no doubt continue for millions of years, establishes him as a senior Autobot, not the “new kid” role he usually plays, either.
Then there’s B’s personality. B is talkative and energetic and eager to make new friends. He’s the comic relief character, which casts him in a less serious tone, but certainly not that he’s a kid. Orion doesn’t play a mentoring role to him throughout the movie, nor do any of them try to manage or babysit him. He’s an equal part of the group, even if he feels less “mature” because of his talkative personality.
B can also be read as neurodivergent, which makes the infantilisation of him in the fandom more problematic, since it treats hyperactivity and other traits found in neurodivergent *adults* as “kid” traits.
Like, why is B interpreted as the kid of the dynamic? He’s the weird uncle they found in the basement, obviously.
Not to mention, B’s primary trait as the movie goes on is his violent tendencies. Based on the fandom, you’d guess he was the most innocent lil guy, when in the movie, he actively takes joy in creating chaos and going on violent outbursts.
While his violence is made out to be a joke in the movie, in a potential sequel I would *love* to see it taken seriously as a character flaw. B is unpredictable and chaotic, and this could make him hard to work with in the Autobot cause.
B’s violent tendencies are genuinely concerning; the amount of joy he gets from slicing drones in half and holding the security team at knife point is uncharacteristic of your usual Autobot hero, and I wish people would talk about that aspect of his character instead of downplaying it when he gets turned into a lil baby in the fandom.
It reminds me of the infantilization of Tailgate in the MTMTE fandom. He’s treated like a lil baby because he’s small and emotional. This sucks because
1) I’m short and I *hate* seeing physically small characters babified to an extent I know they never would be if they were the same height as the rest of the cast around them
2) it treats being emotionally vulnerable as “child-like,” when MTMTE literally makes a point about the fact that Tailgate is one of the only people who can healthily process his feelings, since he doesn’t have war PTSD, and crying and having other big shows of emotion aren’t childlike, it’s healthy.
3) not to mention that Tailgate was a victim of emotional manipulation. Infantilizing him treats him like he was “gullible” for being tricked when Getaway was literally painstakingly planning a longterm relationship to groom him. Don’t infantilize victims, it’s treats it was their fault for being manipulated and not the abuser… you know, manipulating them.
Tailgate also is powerful/violent like Bumblebee, and this similarity gets downplayed. I haven’t been in as much of the MTMTE fandom (I’m still reading Lost Light, and I’m trying to avoid spoilers) but I have seen the Tailgate infantilization to an extent, and the B infantilization is literally the only way I ever see B being treated by the fandom.
STOP TREATING GROWN MEN LIKE KIDS PLEEASSSEEE

Ok, so I saw this post earlier today and all I can say is that I love it!
That being said, we still don't have Adrien's profile yet, so until OP updates their AU, allow me to create a headcanon for what this version of Adrien would be like.
Character:
I would say that unlike canon, Adrien is a lot more "confident" in this AU. However, this is partially false: Adrien just fakes being more confident but it is still very insecure about meeting new people and making friends.
Adrien would be a lot more social in this AU. Since this version of Chloe seems more capable and more likely to be close friends with him, I reckon that Chloe KNOWS that Adrien is socially awkward, so instead of him watching anime as knowledge, she recommends him a lot of highschool movies to help get a good idea of how he should act. Still watches anime though occasionally. As a result, he is more socially capable.
His favorite movie is High School Musical, so Adrien kind of bases himself (partially) on Troy Bolton. Somehow he makes it work, despite acting a bit more American at times than French. It also make him a lot more approachable with American transfer students and with the NY school in the New York Special.
As a result of growing up with American highschool movies, Adrien likes basketball and plays it a lot. Somehow he was able to convince his father to replace his Chinese classes with basketball since he pretty much knew how to speak it fluently.
Also he's more buff. Not to the same level as Kim, but he's got that highschool hunk build as a result of wanting to be fit to be approachable. Suffice to say, he's got a lot more eyes on him than his canon counterpart, even though they both model.
Adrien has a lot more friends in this version, or at the very least associates himself with more people than his canon counterpart, so he isn't as close with Nino when it comes to friends. Which is good because holy hell Alya cannot stop trying to matchmake him and Marinette, and Marinette is just .... urgh.
Of course, Marinette would try to step in and stop these .... poor choices in friends ... but Adrien is immensely popular in his own right and is very likable, so Marinette can't do her usual strategies ... she would have to plan a way to make Adrien leave them voluntarily.
Adrien however, is oblivious to all this. He's a good kid and much more capable, but he is a bit oblivious like his canon counterpart when it comes to infatuations.
Adrien hates modeling, or at least treats it like a chore. He knows he is good at it, but doesn't like how it cuts into his school time or rest time. That being said, he does really want to do theatre as he's inspired by his role model Troy. This result in an an odd relationship with Lila, who also likes acting (entirely platonic though).
For the most part, Adrien has the same relationship with his father like he has in canon. Adrien is just a lot more ballsy with doing his own thing, partially because of Chloe's influence.
Adrien isn't a sentimonster fuck that noise. That being said, its very likely that magic plays a part in why the Agrestes were able to have Adrien
Of course, things would also change when Adrien becomes Chat Noir.
To put a story short ... Chat Noir hates Ladybug as much as Ladybug hates him. He helps to stop the akumas, but that's as far as their relationship goes. He did intially like her ... for about 1 akuma fight, now it would be on-sight if they didn't have to stop akumas.
Despite having to deal with Ladybug, he still really likes being Chat Noir, if only because he can transform and take to the rooftops when he feels like it.
Of course, things don't get better when the new heroes come aboard. Since they are all chosen by Ladybug, its safe to say that he doesn't get along with any of them.
In fact, the only miraculous wielder he gets along with is in fact the rouge hero who ends up finding the Bee Miraculous after Ladybug loses it. Although it means risking Ladybug and the team's ire, Chat Noir finds himself being friends with this newcomer ... and to be honest he does NOT care about Ladybug's opinion.
Chat Noir probably does a lot more "improptu" hero work outside of fighting akumas, such as helping stop robberies or helping a cat out of a tree. Just because he has to work with Ladybug doesn't mean he wants to stop being a hero.
AU based off a project I did for English class! And got an A on. (My professor watches MLB by the way, and has a Fox miraculous necklace!)

My asks are off, so any questions you have, put ‘em in the replies or reblog

Last post after rewatching x men apocalypse
I believe the trauma Charles endured in this movie is severely overlooked.
His first encounter with Erik happened through Cerebro, where he witnessed Erik’s desperate memories and the tragedy that befell him. Charles, as always, was ready to offer love and support, but Erik—broken and consumed by darkness—chose a different path. Given his nature and the betrayals he has faced, his reaction is understandable, though certainly not justified. After all, the very humans he seeks to destroy include his own mother, his wife, and his daughter.
Regardless, instead of turning to a friend, Erik decides to offer a sacrifice on a silver platter—or rather, on Charles’ metal wheelchair—to Apocalypse. He has no idea what the entity intends to do with Charles, but it’s clear that whatever it is, it will only bring him harm.
As for Erik’s betrayal, it wasn’t entirely surprising, but this time, it hit harder because of the circumstances.
Charles wasn’t just collateral damage in Erik’s plans—he was the sacrifice itself. Along with the psychological and physical violation he endured, this made his experience in the film one of the most brutal and impactful, yet it wasn’t given nearly as much focus as it deserved.
Yet despite all of this, Charles does not respond with anger or resentment. He still hopes Erik will see the goodness within himself (which he eventually does—but only after Charles loses his hair, of course! 🧍). But it’s all in vain.
For Charles, even when Erik betrays him, he doesn’t view it as outright treachery. Instead, he sees a broken person making destructive choices due to his pain. That’s why he never truly gives up on him. However, the problem with this level of understanding is that it makes Charles the biggest victim. He’s always the one who gets hurt because he refuses to set boundaries.
( in DOFP charles wasn’t himself)
Anyway!
Apocalypse attacks Charles in the one way he would hate the most—by forcing him to use his powers to manipulate others, stripping them of their free will. In mere seconds, we see just how powerful Charles truly is when Apocalypse compels him to disarm the world and send a global message of terror.
Losing control over himself was the worst thing that could happen to someone like Charles, who built his entire philosophy on free will and choice.
he was desperately resisting. And when he is finally rescued, it is Raven who falls into Apocalypse’s grasp.
Acopalyps calls out, Come Charles!
Tears fill his eyes—he was ready to surrender himself for Raven anyway, saying, He wants me. But the process reveals a terrifying truth: this was never about Charles as an individual. If Apocalypse controls him, he controls the entire world. We can see the tears in his eyes as he realizes this.
And so, Charles is forced to fight again within his own mind—only to lose.
And then, at long last, Uncle Erik decides to step in. (After Charles had already lost his hair, of course! 🧍)
I think people severely underestimate the trauma Charles went through in this film—the violation, the misuse of his power, the betrayal by a friend… I would mention the loss of his hair, but that seems to be the only part everyone actually cares about.( idont blame them though)
It feels like the everyone took Charles’ trauma for granted because he’s always expected to carry burdens without complaint. This is a recurring issue with leader-type or morally grounded characters—they’re expected to be strong, so their personal struggles are often overlooked .
It is frustration that the film / fanfics explores other characters’ trauma in depth that why my post was so long! To talk about it 🙂↔️🤍
And thank you.
The first time I watched this film, my attention was mainly focused on Erik and Peter. It’s strange how much one’s perspective shifts upon rewatching. (It’s still interesting, of course—just not nearly as much as Charles.)

I need to write something here because I have no one else to tell, and I like rambling.
I have just stumbled upon a Hanahaki fic about one of my favourite ships - which is one of my most guilty pleasures, since I am usually very proud of my arospec identity and all in all very bitter and hateful against amatonormativity.
So anyways, I chose to read it and well, I was not expecting to find such a clever vision of this trope! I think cupioromantic folks and other arospec people who are in the Ace Attorney fandom and who ship Narumitsu might in particular enjoy it: it is Fall Where They May, by flybykeylimepie.
Now, I can talk about it under the cut. Beware for some light spoilers - nothing that is too harmful though.
The author gave this trope a very unusual spin that was very inclusive of types of love that were not romantic (even if the endgame and objective of the fic is still the ship getting romantically involved).
Moreover, the myth of this disease (dying 'beautifully' out of sudden pure romantic love) is deconstructed, and love is shown as something that is mostly constructed over time with efforts and patience. I enjoyed the emphasis on the fact that love does not have to and cannot be perfect and purely romantic (as in, conforming to the usual myths of romance), that it can appear and fade away without the fading being painted as lame or tragic, and that caring for someone can and has to be a choice - which is made by both parties.
When the characters actually get together, romantic love itself is not even idealised in the slightest - in fact, despite getting what he desires, the MC (who is a characted I have always felt connected to) remains somewhat resentful over romantic love, over the expectations surrounding it (marriage,...) and the way it made him suffer. His relationship with his SO is not portrayed as what makes him human, as what fate decided for them (in a 'they were meant to be' way), or as something 'magic' or 'tragic' or 'unavoidable'. It just feels... real, as it is portrayed as an active effort and team decision between the two characters. It feels contingent, and voluntary, which - to me - gives them a more unique way of strenghtening their bonds than in "soul mates bounded by fate" types of stories.
The story includes all of the imperfections and the bittersweet traits a relationship that swings 'weirdly' between romantic and platonic love can present. And things still work out, despite not being intense and marvellous from the beginning, as we would expect them to be in - for example - a traditional romance movie. Kudos to the author for having a character explicitely say it.
I especially appreciated the scenes in which they precisely talk about or care for what they both are comfortable with - emotional and physical intimacy gradually builds itself too. It feels like the rules their relationship follows has been actively decided upon by them, instead of blindly following society's expectations of what a relationship that is labelled as romantic should evolve and look like.
Anyways, I am glad I could discover this fic, which is one of the most original and smart romantic fics I could read.

Actual February Reads
The Thrifty Guide to Ancient Rome: A Handbook for Time Travelers by Jonathan Stokes: As someone who knows next to nothing about Ancient Rome, this was a very fun way to learn the basics (and get reminded that ancient royals were very brutal).
East by Edith Pattou: I read this once a long time ago and disliked it. Now, it might deserve a spot on the all-time best retellings list. The multiple first-person narrators and lots of real-world details give it a nicely literary quality. However, I can't shake a feeling of disappointment--the very real-world setting makes me more uncomfortable with the way she presented some magical elements, and makes it lose a lot of the sense of wonder, especially in the ending parts, by taking away the most fairy-tale elements (no riding the four winds, for example.)
Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh: I've talked about this one a lot. My dislike/disappointment built to an explosion of outright hatred by the time I got to the ocean liner chapters, but it resolved into a nice ending that's been annoyingly helpful spiritually.
Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George: Another "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" retelling that I liked better the second time. I hated the first two-thirds--too much focus on her brother's story, too many random elements that felt like a third-rate Disney movie, and horrible behavior from the hero and heroine. The transformed prince forcing a sapient polar bear to die? Not cool. And the girl! Looking at the prince's face is an understandable mistake in the original; here, she is surrounded by people who beg her to stop investigating, who are being killed because she's investigating, and she still doesn't stop! How am I supposed to be on her side? But then the moment her journey starts, this story comes very close to my ideal retelling of the fairy tale. Help from mysterious old women! The fairy tale imagery of the different winds! I wasn't crazy about the complicated explanations of how the magic works (never a strength of the author's), but otherwise, I loved the ending almost as much as I disliked the rest of the book.
Plato in 90 Minutes by Paul Strahern: Too flippant and opinionated, but it did what it promised: I got the gist of Plato's life story in less than an hour.
Deus Caritas Est by Pope Benedict XVI: I'd recently read/listened to some things about similar topics, so this wasn't as mindblowing as it might have been, but it still had some lovely thoughts. I especially loved the explanation of how charity is a vital function of the Church.
The Fairy's Mistake by Gail Carson Levine: I didn't expect to like this reread, given that my retelling of "Diamonds and Toads" is partially a rebuttal to the cynical/satirical attitude in this one. I didn't like it much, (and I outright hated the "she fell in love with the prince despite him showing no character growth" of the ending), but it wasn't quite as obnoxious as I remembered, and it was cute enough for what it was.
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine: I still love this book. I'm at the point where I'm so familiar with the good parts of the book that the only new observations are nitpicks, but it's still a top-tier retelling.
Sir Orfeo, translated by J.R.R. Tolkien: I finally read it! It felt less like Orpheus than I expected, but there is a lot of resonance with other fairy tales of this type, and I loved the strong relationships on display.
Cuddy Yarborough's Daughter by Una Silberrad: Once again, Silberrad's strength is the characters. Sam's a charming, sensible extrovert, Violet's a sensible parentified daughter, Maud's a charming beauty whose thoughtlessness becomes more and more horrifying as the book goes on. Not much really happened, but I'm glad I pushed through and saw the end of the character arcs. I was really dreading that the endgame was going to be a marriage between a young girl and an adult she's known since childhood, but Silberrad managed to pull it off in the least creepy way possible (the guy has zero romantic thoughts about her until like the last page of the book when it's clear she's in love with him), so I could almost be okay with it.
Prudence and the Romantic Poet by Nina Clare: The romance had its cute moments, and I liked the idea of the story, but the execution was pretty dull. Especially in the last chapters, where most scenes became a parade of names as we meet up with all the other characters from the rest of the series.
Vibrant Paradoxes by Bishop Robert Barron: Pretty good essays. All nice and short. Nothing mind-blowing (I can't remember very many specifics of any of them), and these essays make it clearer where my theology diverges from his, but I'm glad I read it.

I think depictions of Anya being cruel to Curly or drawing out his suffering are artful and chilling but completely miss the point of the story and her character.
I'm not saying she doesn't deserve to have that "I told you so" moment with him but not in something callous or cold. Even if that is how it happened, she'd immediately feel guilty cause at that point she's not tormenting her tormenter or even the person truly at fault. She's doing something cathartic, similar to how Jimmy likely hits Curly to release rage he can't against the rest of the crew. She'd see herself as no different when she'd come back from the moment and see Curly cowering at her. She wants someone to take responsibility but how does being cruel to the defenseless help? Why would she want the power Jimmy has over her over Curly?
The idea of her extending someone else's pain is just so against the struggles she already faces and how she can't even bring herself to cause someone pain even to help them. Her very desire is to release herself from her own suffering and I doubt she'd even fine some sort of guilty release in being cruel to another.
#anya is not a character i see taking agency or indulging in cathartic behaviors#not knowingly like i see her as a character trapped in her head and maybe in the scenario she's cruel to Curly she is envisioning Jimmy#in his place but its not a story about justice or those deserving of punishment and those not like its the opposite of people projecting#their issues on the wrong people and saying things to the wrong people and doing things they shouldn't but anya uniquely falls out of it as#she is subjected to a lot of it but it is also not something she wants to subject another person to like you are doing what Jimmy does and#placing ur rage into another persons and viewing their actions through your eyes like she'd more likely yell at him than do harm or#cause him more pain like at least make it in character#but also she clearly doesn't want to see jimmy or curly in the same light and doesnt because she still repeatedly goes to Curly for comfort#and protection and god there's like concepts that need to be applied to characters individually and then the story as a whole#we can not view the game through only one themed lens less we forget to inspect the compounding factor of Anya is so much more than girl#that needs to be allowed to go off but a woman that simply wants right to be done by her and no more harm like she doesn't want to be aroun#the suffering like idk but some of yall would just benefit from like understanding that people are inherently grey with the capabilities of#black n white thinking or actions#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#anya mouthwashing#i like her the most but then again i am defensive of all women in media and hate when people change the way the character would take agency#for themselves like yes I want her to tweak out but she just wouldn't and I like seeing realistic depictions of a woman suffering the way#she is like shes not the type at the end of the movie to have a one liner but feel a shallow freedom cause she needs to realistically heal#idk but its just like there is an obbsession forming with making her character her pain and not how she handles and navigates the issue

its so frustrating how a lot of scu fans cant handle other sonic fans not having the exact same taste in sonic media that they do. like i feel like you can say something negative about literally any other sonic media on here and people generally wouldnt care that much but the second you say anything less than positive about the movies people start getting all weird about it and trying to argue with you ive had it happen to me and seen it happen to others as well .... like the sonic franchise is very big and has many different media types and writing styles not everyone is going to uncritically love everything. get over it ? im not trying to be mean but idk what else to tell you
#this isnt solely about the person who sent me that ask last night i was actually already thinking abut it before#(though it is very confusing that they did i literally havetn been talking about the movies lately they just yelled at me out of nowhere#i mean they apologized so no big deal i guess but like. huh)#i mean i understand not wanting to see a bunch of hate of something you like and its fine to disagree with peoples criticisms#but people are being VERY unreasonable about it when it comes to sonic 3#cant help but wonder if this sort of behavior is a result of the fact that a lot of people acting this way got into sonic through the movie#after sonic's reputation improved a bit and dont know what constant widespread hate for everything sonic actually looks like#so they dont know how to handle criticism or opinions they disagree with regarding what sonic media is good or bad#and place sonic fans criticizing it because they love sonic and think sonic and its stories and characters deserves better#in the same category as people who just mindlessly hate on sonic for no reason#not that im saying anyone who likes the movies is a new fan or that new fans are fake fans but you get what i mean hopefully#also this is going into hater mode but personally. sonic 3 is one of the least deserving candidates of this type of defensiveness#like. for one its not that goodand actively disrespects the source material in so many ways. but thats more of a subjective opinion i guess#but also its a very popular and successful movie . most people who watched it liked it from what ive seen#randos on tumblr not liking it isnt taking away from that ??????#also paramount doesnt deserve your money anyway#like whats the point in defending it so hard . who cares..

First off thank you for asking instead of just dismissing us! We technically fall under endogenic, but refuse -genic labels out of spite for syscourse. But we are, undeniably, non-disordered and very much plural.
I think the thing that forced us into realization the most was our sense of identity. Or, our lack thereof. As a "singlet," we didn't have much of a clear identity. It was too fluid to get a solid idea, really. Favorite color? Well, we'd decided it was green. The answer was not always green, we just knew that normal people don't struggle to answer their favorite color. Aesthetic? It depends. We never could pick one; in fact a lot of our life we felt pressured to "pick one." One style of clothing, "Aesthetic" we felt connected to, favorites, general demeanor. In terms of things we liked and disliked, we went off of memory without realizing it. If I was in front, I would know that "I" hated that food last time I tried it, so why would I try it again? I know that "I" like the ocean, so I'm going to get excited to talk about it even though I have no true feelings surrounding it. I just know I like the ocean, right? etc.
After syscovery, it all fell into place very quickly. When paying attention to our identities and feelings as individuals, suddenly we were less dissociated. We were walking around in a dissociative haze (a literal therapist's exact words) before, but suddenly we felt grounded for the first time in a long time. Instead of struggling to all act the same, we allowed ourselves to embrace the differences we spent a lot of energy trying to ignore previously.
As we began to pick out individuals from the mess of system soup, we could recognize their likes and separate them from ours. Trixie likes loud, bright colors- I don't need to feel bad or confused for being overstimulated by them, that's not my thing. It's hers. Suddenly even our deepest interests being wildly inconsistent (ex. I don't give a fuck about the ocean, but don't ask Frog about it if you don't want your ear yapped off) made sense. It was helpful to those around us; suddenly we weren't unpredictable at all. Our mom, who was often a bit distressed since one day we'd be fine being interrupted and the other we'd hate it, suddenly found us easier to interact with because it was Techno and Zane who will get upset with you for interrupting them. Once she could take that into account, she had no problem. Same with other things- "You don't all eat the same," She tells us one day, leaving us to wonder what the fuck that means.
All that yapping to say; it was the fact that we just... are different people. Inexplicably, even without memory gaps or distress caused by it, we just aren't the same person.
As for differences to CDD's: We have no clear memory gaps- just... blurriness. I have relative access to the others' memories versus a CDD system, but personally we consider ourselves to have "low memory barriers." No blackouts, and our memory functions well enough- but it's definitely not how most people experience it. I have no felt sense of a memory being mine, it's just there. On top of that, usually I have lower levels of recall for memories that aren't mine. Like, I could answer a multiple choice question about the experience. I could likely fill in a blank, depending. Just don't ask me to describe to you the memory, I'll mess shit up 100%. We describe it as movie vs. book; You think you have all the important shit, until book readers are saying they butchered at least 3 side plots and left out entire characters. The level of recall isn't consistent between headmates, though.
We also don't experience any distress from being plural. Distress from how people treat plurality? Yes. But not from the plurality itself. My headmates are often a comfort. Beyond that, I'm not quite sure how to articulate the differences, so I'll leave that at that and let the focus of this post be how we realized we were plural despite not having any CDD symptoms.
-Laurance (and likely a few others, too tired to bother picking out the few others in front)
Oh and edit: If you'd like, our asks or DM's are always open. We're always willing and happy to talk about our experiences.
Okay I'm going to rephrase a question, I have for endogenic systems.
So, I think I have a CDD because I have the symptoms of said CDD that I have experienced throughout my life and have disordered my life.
So the question after hearing some endogenic experiences from my other blogs is; how do you determine you are a system/plural?
As from what I've heard from the endos that have interacted with this account is that they commonly do not experience dissociation nor memory gaps, ie are non disordered.
What are your lived experiences that differ from CDD symptoms?
And, can any endogenic ppl share experiences that helped them understand themselves as a system/plural and not a singlet/non-system?
Not trying to start a debate here just trying to understand.

Ranting in the tags isn’t enough so I’m going to say one more time that just because Maximus isn’t morally gray doesn’t mean he isn’t complex
#i would even argue!!! that having predominately morally gray characters is actually has been detrimental to storytelling!!#but y’all aren’t ready for that conversation yet#i just think maximus is a perfect example of a “good hero#the kind who isn’t swayed by temptation#doesn’t have a ton of skeletons in the closet#isn’t constantly fighting back his wicked desires#just genuinely does his job wants to do the right thing and loves his home family and emperor#like??? how is he boring for that???#he certainly doesn’t lack in angst and internal conflict and character development!!#people saying maximus has no character development: did we watch the same movie???#just because he doesn’t have to overcome his own evil nature doesn’t mean he isn’t complex or developed#he is a fully fleshed out person#and!!! he does have flaws as a character!#he has blind spots in being too trusting of the security of his position#he believed in the good of rome and didn’t foresee what could happen#he gives in to bitterness and hate for awhile while he’s grieving his family#he literally gives up on life and tries to let himself die multiple times#and those flaws shape some of the things he goes through!#yet beneath all the hardships he remains true to who he is#a noble kind patient logical loving loyal gentleman who treasures the right things and is willing to do whatever he must to stay honorable#something to chew on: maximus is between 30 and 35 years old in gladiator#he’s not an 18 year old kid who’s trying to learn life lessons#he’s already learned most of them!!#he’s already who he wants to be!!!#and dont even get me started on all his little quirks and mannerisms#all the things that make him REAL#gladiator#maximus decimus meridius#text posts#russell crowe

the problem with realistic minecraft villagers is you’re immediately confronted with how obviously antisemetic they are
i hope we see them in the minecraft movie so society at large can be like “wait wtf mojang”
#this is also the problem with normal minecraft villagers just to be clear#it’s just that most people are used to what these characters from the highest selling video game in the world look like#also nuance#this doesn’t mean i hate minecraft or want to send people to harass mojang#i’m a big fan of element animation and villagers are practically their mascot#but can we not like. just change them a bit at least#minecraft#minecraft movie#antisemitism

I mean, I'll admit what Armand did in San Francisco was brutal, but it also makes sense for the character considering everything that had just happened. I mostly just didn't like the way it felt like the show was using it to try to vilify Armand further and completely ignored the fact that Louis had just tried to kill Daniel in favor of Armand torturing him. Having Daniel say, "You tried to drain me, pal," to Armand while completely ignoring that Louis did, too, was really frustrating. Armand never would have touched Daniel if Louis hadn't exposed the existence of vampires to him or purposefully taunted him by saying that he was boring while Daniel was fascinating. As for Loustat in the film, it felt more subtle than in the books and they spend most of their time fighting, so as a kid, (I first saw this movie when I was around eleven or twelve and hadn't read the books, yet), I didn't really connect that they were supposed to be lovers. I didn't even think they were friends because they just seemed to hate each other, and I wondered why Lestat even turned Louis at that point. However, the scenes with Louis and Armand later in the film, I immediately clocked as romantic, and when other people tried to tell me that they just wanted each other's company and friendship, I didn't believe them. They may not have kissed or anything, but those scenes were super homoerotic.

just a reminder of how “normal” people perceive things

read a screen rant article that argued that future knives out movies should feature recurring characters to "flesh out blanc's character" and "make him a more interesting lead" and that "all detectives need a team"........ what if i killed you lol
#BLANC IS NOT MEANT TO BE THE LEAD‼️‼️ HE MAY SEEM LIKE IT#BUT KNIVES OUT WAS MARTA'S MOVIE. GLASS ONION WAS HELEN'S.#THE WORKING-CLASS WOCS FUCKED OVER BY THE RICH CHARACTERS. THOSE ARE THE PROTAGONISTS#or at any rate they're the real heroes. not blanc. he's the one who ties it all together sure but his goal is to help THEM.#also 'every detective needs a team' my ass. have you people ever watched columbo. aka one of the shows rian johnson#is most inspired by in his whodunnit work.#knives out is very reminiscent of agatha christie yes but it also owes a LOT to columbo#and part of that is the mysterious detective whose personal life you never really see.#look i want to see blanc talk to his husband as much as the next guy. in fact i think that should happen!#but it should ideally be brief. it shouldn't overshadow the real focus of these movies: the marginalized and working-class#getting their revenge on the rich bitches who've wronged them.#if you want a phillip-focused movie i think that COULD work. but only if they made sure to keep those themes front and centre.#it wouldn't be the same otherwise!#that's how i feel at least. genuinely no hate if you disagree i totally get the desire for blanc development#i want some too. i like character-focused stories#but i really feel like these movies aren't meant to focus on him too much

just watched the borderlands movie and the only good part was that krieg’s little harness thingo lowkey looked like a very skimpy little bra thing sometimes

he needs some back support with those jugs ofc
#it wasn’t AS bad as I thought it would be#but it was not good#at all#idk why they changed so much of the story and just like Made It Worse#why did they make Tina’s dad head of atlas? why not just keep her parents killed off? why did they mischaracterise her so badly?#why was she annoying? why was she an experiment? why not use a more compelling villain than Guy Who Looks And Acts As Bland As Possible#the villain was simply. no good#I wish they used jack 😔#I also wish they didn’t do the Lilith’s mum subplot bc it was a little off??? somehow?#and Tannis and Lilith’s relationship wasn’t particularly fulfilling#claptrap was even more annoying#the jokes weren’t funny#the sfx were NOT as bad as everyone said they were I’m sorry I thought they were fine aside from a few weird shots in some chase sequences#another thing I don’t get that much was ppl hating Lilith’s hair bc it’s doesn’t look like in the games#ppl compared the wig to wigs that cosplayers use that look rly accurate and good but#u have to take into account#that it’s rly hard to stylise a live action movie to look something like boarderlands and most cosplays are made to look good statically#things that look good in cosplay and in the game will not look good in a live action action sequences#like if u gave her a cosplay wig it would look great and accurate but it also would be completely rigged in the wind and would not move#like real hair#which would probably be incredibly jarring to see in a live action film especially with all the action#was the hair great? no. I still think it could’ve been vastly improved on while remaining realistic for a live action movie#but I think some people hold it to unrealistic standards in their criticisms or whatever#also costumes have to be actually movable and breathable bc REAL people are shooting REAL scenes and doing stunts and shit in them#but. yeah. the costumes could definitely have had some improvement#I think that if u wanted to make a borderlands film that was accurate to the design of the characters it would be easier to do it animated#and the writing?#we do not speak about the writing good lord#borderlands movie#borderlands

#either the state of the CK fandom is really that bad or i have really blocked that many people#its so interesting to see it grow from the s3 covid boom#post s3 most of us were knew so we were learning the lore together. we were going through the stages of#“surface level fandom for shipping purposes” to “backed by canon” together#to see people come in becaue The Ship (which was also why i came in)#and be charmed by the fandom portrayel of them. then watch the show and realize how disengaged it is.#we've all been there.#like surface level shippers will always exist but the teat is if its 6 months later and theyve become oddly attached#to an obscure side character that has no last name. who has entire meta commentaries#watson vs doylist style#the layers of meta of it all ...#also usually you find another ship that is much less popular but scratches your brain in such a particular way that it outshines the og mvp#and then you look back on it all like a fond lover. before going back to drafting you johnjoshhayden hate mail#and there's the inevitable boom of new fans after each season that come and go but#there are still a few of the old guard. “i was there gandolf” and you pass each other on the dash#world weary and smoking a cigarette. as the same conversations are had once again.#anyways its always wild to see daniel/sam/Ralph/mary hate at this point in time. in this economy?#not like “i disagree with their actions here” but like “they suck ass and are so mean and they bullied me personally irl i have proof ”#you know the kind where the only way to reach that conclusion you have to have a fundamental misunderstanding of the movies the characters#and also just like. human interaction itself?#bullying? in the “bullying is bad” movie fandom? *pointed look*#i rogot entirely where i was going with this rip
