Did Atlas feel like he had to live up to Tabitha's legacy?
tabitha's legacy was untouchable, he didn't want to live up to it because that was impossible to conceive. he just wanted to be good enough and do the institute proud

I do love the daring rescue in Coraline AUs ah same thing with the Camp Camp Coraline AU haha#Burst in through the door! Those poor hinges!#It is a bit funny imagining him crawling through the tunnel in a hurry and kicking the doors open all winded haha <3#It's all very serious of course Max needs help! Stuck behind the mirror from disobeying perhaps?#I was pretty hard on him last time that he'd just Immediately give up his soul for cheap tricks but like - would he?#Yes he's reckless and foolish but he's also stubborn and prideful and hates being told what to do so there's that lol#Which does he want more! The high or his freedom to refuse? I could see it going either way#And for Dex's sake I would hope he'd refuse! As if he hasn't suffered enough eye trauma (eventually)#Ough the thought of him starting to say yes and getting one button eye in and then rescinding his yes ouch#Doomed to have one eye no matter where he goes ah 💔#Anyway - Dex!!! Watch I'll make another one with the ideas mentioned here and then talk about more ideas in those tags pft#Since agreeing with him didn't work how about shaming? ''Go away you're no better''#She really is going hard on him like ''What's your angle? You get him back and then what? Will that actually fix anything?''#Very much pulling from Dexter's meetings with Max at the Institute there hhhhhh as if I needed more feelings about it#Eco_Mono did such a beautiful job playing Dex - so much to consider hehe - but there was one question that I can't stop thinking about#''Why would you want him back?'' and Dexter didn't really have much of an answer - he was barely more than a concept at the time!#Having had the opportunity to see his character grow into himself has given me Such brainworms about that question ♥♪♫#Very want to explore it <3#In the meanwhile it's fun to pit these two against each other haha what an odd matchup ♪#I've only barely drawn the Beldam before now that I think of it! And I think only in her final metal-spidery form never in her mid form here#She's fun :D And so tall! Dexter finally feeling small for a change haha#Her having to fight adult selfishness would be quite interesting I think - something tinged with but not quite the same as loyalty#She can relate to the possessiveness at least hehe I'm sure he'd appreciate the comparison

Researchers have mapped 50,000 of DNA's mysterious "knots" in the human genome. The innovative study of DNA's hidden structures may open up new approaches for treatment and diagnosis of diseases, including cancer. DNA is well-known for its double helix shape. But the human genome also contains more than 50,000 unusual knot-like DNA structures called i-motifs, researchers at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research have discovered. Published today in The EMBO Journal is the first comprehensive map of these unique DNA structures, shedding light on their potential roles in gene regulation involved in disease.

The Evolution of the Tesla Coil
Nikola Tesla invented the Tesla coil as part of his exploration into lighting, wireless power transmission, and radiofrequency experiments. He developed the coil to produce high-voltage, low current, high-frequency electricity. The Tesla coil consists of primary and secondary coils that are inductively coupled, and the circuit is designed to resonate at a specific frequency. This resonance enhances the efficiency of energy transfer between the coils, enabling the generation of high-voltage, high-frequency alternating current.
His first Tesla coil was a bipolar coil created around 1891, and was demonstrated before scientific institutes from 1891-1893. His patents reveal that they were essentially intended for light production using both high frequency and high voltage at the same time. He also mentions in his patents how he discovered that a single wire could be used to light a light bulb. Generally, light bulbs require two wires to operate – one for the positive (live or hot) and one for the negative (neutral). He also discarded wires completely lighting bulbs wirelessly. Tesla improved upon the bipolar coil over many years using them for gas engine ignition, wireless, ozone production, and to create undamped waves.
In 1893, Tesla developed the bifilar spiral coil, which is a type of coil wound with two parallel wires, known as bifilar winding. The wires are wound side by side in a spiral pattern, maintaining close proximity throughout the coil. It was built in an attempt to avoid the employment of condensers, which are expensive and difficult to maintain. The coils themselves were meant to accomplish the same ultimate object as the condensers.
In 1894, Tesla evolved his coil into a conical coil. A conical coil refers to a coil or winding in the shape of a cone. These coils were sometimes employed in his wireless power transmission experiments and other electrical investigations. The shape of the coil can influence its inductance, capacitance, and resonance properties, impacting its performance in different applications. This coil allowed Tesla to reach tensions of 1 million volts.
In 1897, Tesla developed the flat spiral coil, similar to his bifilar coil. This type of coil forms a flat, spiral pattern. The specific shape and dimensions of the coil can influence its inductance and other electrical properties. The main reason Tesla started using flat spiral coils was because they were relatively safe, since the highest potential terminal is at the center, and also because they better suppressed the sparks, which were essentially losses in the circuit, allowing him to achieve higher voltages:
Another version of his coils was his Helical coil. A helical coil is a coil wound in the shape of a helix or spiral. The helical coil configuration is characterized by the wires being wound around a cylindrical form in a continuous spiral pattern. Tesla utilized helical coils throughout the late 1890s and in his Colorado Springs Experiments. The coils were used in his wireless transmission experiments, and he employed helical resonators to investigate the behavior of electromagnetic waves. The helical shape offers specific electrical properties and can influence the resonance and performance of the coil in certain applications.
Finally, the Tesla coil would eventually evolve into his Magnifying Transmitter. Tesla designed it as part of his wireless power transmission experiments. The magnifying transmitter was intended to efficiently transmit electrical energy over long distances without the need for wires. The system involved a large coil, often called the magnifying transmitter coil, which could produce high-frequency, high-voltage electrical currents. Tesla believed that this technology could revolutionize global communication and provide a means for delivering electrical power wirelessly by using the earth itself as a conductor.
The magnifying transmitter would become his Wardenclyffe Tower. Unfortunately, Tesla ended up lacking the investments and funds to finish his work in its entirety. Some say he failed because his idea didn’t work, but that’s not true at all because his Colorado experiments proved that they did. In his head, the transmission of energy was a matter of engineering. If he had a machine that could send energy 20 miles, then he could build a machine that could send energy a thousand miles. As long as he understands the motive power, he could build a machine that will do all that he requires of it. He simply underestimated the cost of his system. His failures to finish his work would leave him with the public persona as being the mad scientist who had unrealistic ideas for the future.
Ultimately, Tesla would not realize his dream of providing humankind with cheap, unlimited energy in his lifetime; however, his legacy forever lives on through the incredibly impactful experiments, and the evolution of the Tesla Coil.
“Technical invention is akin to architecture and the experts must in time come to the same conclusions I have reached long ago. Sooner or later my power system will have to be adopted in its entirety and so far as I am concerned it is as good as done. If I were ever assailed by doubt of ultimate success I would dismiss it by remembering the words of that great philosopher, Lord Kelvin, who after witnessing some of my experiments said to me with tears in his eyes: ‘I am sure you will do it.’”--Nikola Tesla

midnight kotlc doodles and thoughts
how do you make friends here i would love to make kotlc mutuals but im feeling a little shy :3c
ANYWAY so i was thinking about fitz and itd be plot-wise kind of funny and evil if he was fighting the neverseen for example and one of his ear got cut off on the helix so he cant grow it pointy anymore -- and if his ears cant get pointy, then appearance-wise, he's just a human right
itd be so good for character development like symbolizing him maybe finding himself outside of being an elf, a vacker, etc. and more who he is as a person
but honestly i dont care about keefe nor fitz i care about the GIRLIES i care about biana and sophie and linh and marella and etc. mwah my kotlc girls
my personal headcannon is that biana grows up to become a wedding planner for elves?? or like a general events planner arranging parties and winnowing galas bc thatd be cute
itd also suit her like imagine her having her fashion sense and taste and not making it a part of her job and being a boring emissary or something thatd kill me inside. but then maybe she also faces backlash for not puting her talent as a vanisher into use and rendering it "useless" but her not giving a fuck bc biana's like that
but then i feel like sophie would actually become an emissary or a keeper for the council - i mean shes a reagent already so whats stopping the council from snatching her up after foxfire graduation (bruh are they even going to be able to graduate at this pace)
and speaking of foxfire graduation are you telling me these elves live up to thousands and thousands of years and their education stops at like 20?? naur they probably do have some higher education right so what if theres like vocational schools but for special abilities -- imagine a school for technopaths and they just all train to become elvin engineers (EIT -- Elf Institution of Technology LMAO)
#kotlc#kotlc fanart#kotlc thoughts#kotlc fandom#kotlc art#biana vacker#fitz vacker#sophie foster#kotlc sophie#kotlc fitz#kotlc biana#MIT MORE LIKE EIT#i bet they have a school for telepaths too#but what would they do with that#wait a minute when can telepaths actually use their abilities if they decide not to become an elite or a noble#its so highly regulated that you cant use it in your day to day life#lmao

Brotherhood (2)
Directly following the events of Double Helix, Danny enrolls in Bayville High school and joins the Brotherhood of Mutants. He's not sure if they actually believe he's a ghost and not a mutant, but at least they don't care enough to challenge him on it, and that's good enough for him. This is a direct sequel to Double Helix (linked above), and some parts may be confusing without the context of the original fic. I suggest you read that first.
Written for @crossoverdanuary Week 2024, Day 5: The Owl House X-Men Evolution | Shell
I have seen exactly two episodes of The Owl House, and that was like four years ago or something, so I was not confident in my ability to write a crossover for it. Also, from this chapter on, it's unedited and I'll come back to edit later. I just want to actually finish this fic tonight.
I tried to work in a theme of both Danny and Wanda "coming out of their shell" throughout the fic. You can also read it on AO3.
Chapter 2: Transition
Previous
[Warning for mental institutions]
"You guys got any plans for the long weekend?" Lance asked as he sprawled out on the shabby couch in the board house. "Kitty told me she and some of the X-dorks are going on an educational retreat to the California redwoods. They decided on it yesterday. Can you imagine being able to just up and fly to the other side of the country on a whim."
"And for educational purposes, yuck!" Toad agreed. "If I had my own jet like they do, I'd go to Vegas!"
"If you could afford a jet like they have, you wouldn't have to go to Vegas," Lance said. "You'd already be rich. If I had my own jet, I would use it to go to all the concerts I'd normally miss because they're too far away."
"I don't need a private jet to go wherever I want," Pietro bragged. "If I want to go to a concert, I'll run right in past security and no one will even know."
"And if that concert is in Europe?" Lance asked. "Or Asia? You know, across a massive ocean? Can you run there?"
"Okay, point taken, but why would I wanna go to a snooty European concert anyway?" the speedster scoffed. "What about you, Danny?"
"What do I need a jet for? I can already fly," he said. "Not that I use it for major travel much. Maybe I should. That's what my cousin does. She flies all over the world."
"Hey! We should do something fun this weekend!" Toad declared. "Maybe sneak into a concert, or go somewhere cool! Show those X losers we know how to have a good time while they use their fancy private jet to go learn things."
"Sure, I'm down," Lance agreed.
"Sorry guys, I'm gonna pass this time. I actually do have plans this weekend," Danny said. "I'm gonna fly upstate and visit a friend. I haven't seen her in a few weeks."
"Her?" Pietro repeated with a smirk. "This wouldn't happen to be a girlfriend would it?"
"It's not like that," Danny said. "She's a friend. She's a girl. That's it."
"Uh-huh... sure," Toad said, sounding unconvinced. "You dog."
"Lay off," Danny said, rolling his eyes. "Come on, we gotta get to school. Long weekend's not here yet."
Toad groaned.
"Buck up, we've only got one more day," Lance pointed out.
When the long weekend finally arrived, Danny filled his pockets with all the things he wanted to bring, said good-bye to the Brotherhood, who barely acknowledged him as they argued about what to do that weekend, and took off. He flew north, toward the mental institution. It had been almost three whole weeks since he'd last been there, but he remembered the way.
Honestly, he hadn't expected to go back so soon, and Wanda probably wouldn't be expecting him either, but it wasn't like he was gonna be an inpatient this time. He would turn invisible and pop into Wanda's room to hang out with her. It hadn't even been that long, really, but he missed her.
Thinking about her in that room all alone again, without anyone or anything to distract her, it almost made him regret leaving in the first place. He should have been more considerate. Even though she said she'd be okay, leaving just because he didn't like Xavier was selfish.
When, after almost a full day of flying, he finally caught sight of the building, resentment gripped his chest. He hated this place. If it weren't for Wanda, he wouldn't have even stayed as long as he had. And if it weren't for her, he definitely wouldn't have come back, ever. No matter what.
But he did. He came back. For Wanda.
Sneaking in went just as planned. No one saw him. No one heard him. He was a ghost, after all. The moment he saw Wanda, he realized that he'd missed her even more than he'd thought.
"Knock knock," he said as he appeared in her room.
She jumped in surprise, but when she saw him, she smiled. "You scared me."
"Should I have said 'Boo', instead?" he asked. "I totally should have. Missed opportunity."
She chuckled slightly and shook her head.
"You seem to be doing pretty well, all things considered," he noted.
She was still wearing a straight jacket, but it looked looser, like whoever had put it on her wasn't as worried about her getting out. Her small smile still seemed genuine. Three weeks on her own again hadn't sent her straight back to her darkest place, it seemed.
"Yeah," she agreed. "I've been taking your advice. Whenever I notice myself getting stuck thinking about the bad memory, I try to think of three good ones. It's hard sometimes, but I think the more effort it takes, the better it works, because it keeps me distracted for longer. Yesterday, I remembered reading that book with you. You know the one. I tried to imagine an ending for it where they were both arrested as war criminals instead of having a happy ending. Do you want to hear it?"
"Absolutely," Danny confirmed.
In truth, he hadn't even thought about that trashy romance novel in ages. It was largely forgettable for him, but if it helped Wanda better navigate her emotions then hell yeah he wanted to hear her ideas for an alternate ending.
In her version of the ending, there was a huge trial. The kings of both sides agreed that the Warlock and Sorceress were guilty of crimes against Arvenia, and sentenced them to live the rest of there lives in a deep, dark dungeon where the lovers could only communicate by having rats deliver notes between them.
Then, after years of planning their escape one note at a time, they broke out and took over the world together, killing the kings and terrorizing the people of Arvenia to keep them in line.
"Ooh, plot twist!" Danny said when she got to that part. "I like that you made them the villains in the end. They should have been the villains from the beginning."
"I agree," Wanda said. "It was stupid that the book just gave them another villain to blame for all the bad things they did and fight off, rather than acknowledging their crimes."
"Totally!" Danny emphatically agreed. "Oh, I just remembered! I brought you some stuff."
He reached into his pockets and pulled out all the stuff he'd brought. He pulled out a deck of cards, a book of MadLibs and a pen, a sheet of stickers. He wasn't sure what they would have the most fun with, so he'd just brought a bunch of random junk. Lastly, he pulled out a necklace, a black choker with an ankh charm.
"What's that?" she asked.
"Your first goth accessory," he said. "I found it in a random box in the attic where I'm staying now."
"No, I mean what's that symbol?" she asked, repositioning herself so Danny could put the necklace on her.
"Oh, it's an ankh. The Egyptian symbol for life, I think."
"Life, huh? Doesn't sound very goth."
"Well, you would be wearing it ironically," he said. "Most of the other gothy stuff I found had crosses, and seeing as your Jewish and all...." He shrugged. "Felt like it would be disrespectful. So, do you like it?"
"Yeah, I like it a lot," Wanda said. "You know," her voice became suddenly softer than before, like she was nervous. "Professor Xavier is going to come tomorrow. I think tomorrow might finally be the day he takes me with him."
"You think?" Danny asked, excited for her despite his hatred of the professor.
"Yeah," she confirmed. "I've been doing a lot better lately, and I have a really good feeling about it."
"That's awesome, Wanda!" he told her. "In that case, let's call the necklace a good luck charm. I'm rooting for you. I know you can do it."
"Thanks."
"You know, I also found this totally sweet red leather coat when I was rooting around in the attic," he said. "Ankle-length, flared collar, and it's your favorite color. Once you're ready to give up the straight jacket, I'll bring it to you as a congratulations present. What do you think?"
"I think you're really trying to motivate me."
"What can I say? I miss my friend."
"Then we have a deal," she agreed. Tomorrow is gonna be the day. I just know it."
Danny grinned widely at her.
For the rest of the day, they mostly played MadLibs. They tried a few card games, too, but with Wanda's hands restrained, the only thing they could really do was collaborative solitaire, and that got old fast. Danny stuck little ghost and bat stickers on all the latches on her straight jacket while he told her about the school he was going to, and the board house. How he'd picked the same city the Xavier Institute was in so he could see her again when she enrolled there.
"They're all mutants at the board house," Danny told her. "I don't know if they actually believe I'm not, but they don't push it. They don't even call me a mutant by mistake. I don't know, maybe it's 'cause they're afraid I'll do something, or maybe it's 'cause they just don't care enough to argue with me, but either way, that's better than I ever got from Xavier."
"I'm glad you found people who accept you," Wanda said. "I hope when I go to the professor's school, I will too."
"Me too," Danny agreed. "And hey, even if you don't find them there, you'll still have me."
She smiled at him. Her smile was always small, burdened, a little sad behind the eyes, but it was honest. Danny liked that about her. She never tried to hide anything.
That night, he crashed in her room. Despite being fully padded, it was not very comfortable, but it was better than trying to fly through the night and ending up sleeping in a tree somewhere. He said 'see ya later' and left early in the morning to make sure he wouldn't be seen when the orderlies came to get her for her meeting with the professor, and promised to meet up with her again soon.
Then, he spent another day flying back to Bayville.
"You're getting back a little late, aren't you?" Lance observed when Danny finally returned to the board house. "Did you get to spend some quality time with your girlfriend?"
"Again, not my girlfriend, but yes, I did," Danny responded. "How was your... whatever you guys decided to do this weekend?"
"Oh, we ended up not being able to decide, so we just ordered pizza and stayed here all weekend," Lance answered. "So that was... that."
"Oh, yeah, those X-Men are gonna be soo jealous of the weekend you had."
"Shut up!"
It wasn't until a couple days later that news reached the Brotherhood of the X-Men's newest member. It came by way of Lance's budding relationship with Kitty.
"Really!? The X-Men have a new member?" Danny repeated excitedly when he heard the news after school.
"That's what Kitty said," Lance confirmed. "Apparently she's not gonna start at Bayville High for another few of days so she can get settled, but yeah. I don't know anything about her, though."
"I'm pretty sure I do!" Danny said. "I gotta go!"
"What?"
Danny didn't bother to explain. He went ghost, made a quick pit-stop in the attic to grab something and then flew straight for the Xavier Institute. He'd never actually been there before, but Tabitha told him where it was a while back. Apparently, she used to be an X-Men trainee before she joined the Brotherhood, and she was still friends with some of them.
Turrets rose up out of the ground the moment he got past the gate. Probably motion-activated. Danny easily avoided getting hit by turning intangible and staying that way until he'd flown straight through the front door. It actually took a while. The grounds were huge.
By the time he got through, there was a group of mutants waiting for him, suited up and ready for a fight.
"Relax, I'm not here to fight," Danny said. He held up the paper bag he'd brought with him. "I'm just bringing a friend a gift."
"Who are you?" demanded a guy with a weird visor. Scott, probably. He seemed like Scott.
"What do you mean who am I?" Danny asked. "You know me!"
"Like, I've never seen you before," Kitty said, crossing her arms.
How they expected to protect their identities when they didn't even wear masks, Danny had no idea.
"What are you talking about? I—" He stopped himself abruptly. "Oh yeah, my bad," he said, and let the rings of his transformation wash over him, revealing his human form. "Recognize me now?"
Judging by their gasps, the answer was yes, but they didn't stand down.
"What are you doing here?" Jean asked. "I thought you didn't want anything to do with the Xavier Institute."
"I don't wanna join, but it's not like I hate you guys or anything," Danny said. "This just isn't the place for me. And I already told you why I'm here. I'm brought a congratulations present for Wanda. She's your new member, right? Or trainee? Whatever."
"How do you know that?" asked a fuzzy blue mutant that Danny didn't recognize until he started talking. That German accent was unmistakably Kurt.
"Well, when I saw her the other day, she said she felt really confident that she was going to be able to join you guys soon, and then Lance said Kitty said you got a new member, so I figured it must be her."
The others all glared at Kitty.
"What?" she asked. "It's not like it was gonna be a secret for long anyway. We, like, all go to the same school!"
"I wasn't aware you and Wanda were so close," came a familiar voice.
Danny turned to see the professor wheeling in and had to school his face to avoid scowling at him.
"We're friends," he said. "Can I see her or not? And keep in mind if you say no, I'm just gonna find her anyway."
"As long as you haven't come with ill intentions, I see no reason why you shouldn't be allowed to see her," the professor said. "We're all mutants after all, and a sense of community is important."
"I'm not a mutant," Danny muttered, his scowl finally breaking through.
The professor responded with a tight smile. "Jean, why don't you show Danny to Wanda's room."
"Of course, professor," Jean agreed. "It's this way."
She headed up the stairs and Danny followed.
"So do you and Wanda know each other from the institution?" Jean asked. "I mean, sorry, that's probably personal. I hope you don't mind me asking."
"It's fine," Danny said. "Yeah. Security couldn't exactly hold a guy who walks through walls, so I would sneak into her room sometimes and we'd hang out. She always wanted to be able to come here. I could never really understand it, but I'm still proud of her, you know? I may not agree with you guys, but you're good people. For the most part. I'm not quite sold on Scott, yet."
Jean chuckled. "I guess we can't really ask for more than that." She stopped in the hallway and knocked on a door. "Wanda, you in there? You have a visitor."
The door opened seemingly on its own.
"Danny!" Wanda's voice called. "I didn't think you'd be here so soon."
"I came as soon as I heard, and I guess word travels fast," he replied. "Can I come in?"
"Yeah, come in," she said.
"I'll leave you to it," Jean said, as she backed away into the hall and closed the door behind her.
"You look good," Danny said.
Her clothes were a bit mismatched, but it was the first time he was seeing her without a straight jacket, and that was a huge improvement. She was also wearing the choker he'd given her. Her hair looked recently washed, and was neatly combed and tucked behind her ears.
Even the way she held herself was more confident, happier. Not being in that rotten mental institution was already having a positive affect on her, it seemed.
"I brought something that'll make you look even better." He held up the paper bag.
"The coat?" she asked, rushing forward excitedly to take the bag from him.
"I hope it fits," he told her. "It looked about the right size."
She let the bag drop to the floor as he pulled the coat out and smoothly slid it on. It looked like it might be a little wide in the shoulders, but other than that, it fit like a glove.
"It's perfect," she said.
"I also found some earrings that match the necklace," he said. "I slipped 'em in one of the pockets. I know you don't have pierced ears, but I figured if you ever did, you might like to have them."
She patted the pockets until she found what he was talking about and smiled when she pulled them out. Then, she laid them gently on her dresser.
He didn't think he'd ever seen her smile so much, and so unabashedly. It wasn't the tiny, hesitant smile she'd worn before. She was really coming out of her shell.
"Careful," he said. "Looking at you now, I'd almost think you weren't consumed by rage."
Her smile fell.
That had been the wrong thing to say.
"I am still angry," she said. "I can't stop it. But... you were right. I didn't need to control my anger. I just had to stop letting my anger control me. Now I can be angry and happy at the same time. Angry and excited. I feel more than just anger now. It feels good."
"I'm happy to hear it," he told her. "So how's this place treating you so far?"
"I have a roommate!" she replied instantly. "Her name is Rahne. And tomorrow, when they're done with school, she and some of the other girls are gonna take me to the mall for new clothes so I don't have to wear stuff from the lost-and-found anymore."
"That makes sense," Danny said.
"Do you wanna come?" she invited.
"I... would... but I might ruin the mood," he said apologetically. "Some of them don't trust me since I'm technically part of the Brotherhood, and we're... enemies? Rivals? Something like that. Plus, you don't want a guy tagging along on your first girl's shopping trip. Trust me. You'll want the full experience."
"You have a point...."
"I'll enjoy the surprise of seeing your new wardrobe when you come to school in a few days," he said.
They hung out and chatted for a little while until Wanda's roommate came back and Danny figured that was his cue to go. As he left her new room, he had the distinct pleasure of telling her he'd see her at school.
He could feel eyes on him until he was all the way off the manor grounds. They may not have hated him, but these X-Men sure as hell didn't trust him either.
Whatever. He didn't care what they thought about him. As long as they took care of Wanda, and left him alone, they were alright in his book. So far, so good.

Any tma jewelry headcanons? I love reading all of these, they are so fun
Funny you should ask because I was thinking about this earlier and also head cannons are so fun to make! (Feel free to ask for more!)
Most of these are purely off vibes alone with very little thought behind them x
Jon - Earrings type of guy for the most part, nothing too like ‘flashy’ but occasionally nice little dangle earring. Also kind of a rings guy, like just a couple but they’re pretty, and occasionally a necklace like those slightly longer ones but it’s usually tucked away. He’s got one bead bracelet that he refuses to take off and it happens to be a green one with a little M bead.
Martin - Bracelets type of guy but those beaded kind of friendship looking ones. He’s got a few with different colours and people in the office (Sasha and Tim) have now noticed that different colours mean different things. Green-Loved up (he also refuses to take it off and it has a little J bead) Orange-Feeling a little (a lot) bitchy // Pink-Pining (that was worn a lot) // Multicoloured-Crimes might be committed.
Tim - Again I’m getting earring vibes, at least one lobe piercing that’s either a little fun shape or is just a plain one (depending on which series) and there’s always this one necklace he wears and he will never take it off (Danny gave it to him for his birthday years ago, ouch) and then there’s this one beaded bracelet he wears which happens to be complimentary colours to one Sasha owns but he claims coincidence.
Sasha - A nose piercing of some kind, but I’m going with septum and she’s also got at least four ear piercings, probably both lobes and then two cartilage. She’s a layered necklace person, sometimes they match perfectly and sometimes they are a little all over the place but they always look nice. She also wears this one beaded bracelet she’s had for years which someone gave her for secret Santa (It was Jon, I’ve got no reason for it but I like the thought)
Melanie - Rings central, it’s a real mix and match type of thing but they seem to all pair well with each other. Also a necklace that she always wears, it’s just a simple silver one that doesn’t seem to match her rings and seems a little older, maybe a little dull compared to the silver rings (her dad gave it to her when she was younger, again ouch)
Georgie- Is either wearing a lot of jewellery or not a lot, depends on the day. Also she’s a gold jewellery person, always wears the same necklace just because she likes it and sees it as a little bit of a good luck charm (she doesn’t really believe it but she likes the thought)
Basira- Has a nose stud but it’s a little one, that she only really started wearing once she was working at the institute. Occasionally wears a couple rings, usually those slightly thicker banded gold ones, and one that looks like it should match someone else’s
Daisy- Piercings mainly, like three upper helix’s on one ear, both lobes stacked (I think that’s the term, those like three going up is what I mean). Also a couple of rings, one that looks kind of like it should match someone else’s (Basira also has one, they pretend they don’t notice each others)
Elias - Two rings, one that comes and goes (his wedding ring) and also just a thumb ring with an eye because he doesn’t understand subtle hints.

Dr. Herman Branson (August 14, 1914 - June 7, 1995) was a pioneer in biophysics. Born in Pocahontas, Virginia, not much is known about his early life. He attended Virginia College and received a BS. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati where he received a Ph.D. and started a career in academia.
He served as Assistant Professor of Physics and Chemistry at Howard University. He served as the Director of the Experimental Science and Mathematics Technology Program in Physics. He became a tenured professor of Physics and was named Chairman of the Physics Department at Howard University.
He entered into a partnership with Linus Pauling at the California Institute of Technology. He focused on the structure of proteins. His process used mathematics to determine possible helical structures that would fit the x-ray data, as well as chemical restrictions that had been outlined by Pauling. He narrowed down the possible structures of two helices. The two coils were named Alpha and Gamma. Linus Pauling initially dismissed his work, saying that the shape of his coil was impossible. Pauling published the data in his name, giving him minor credit for his original research. In the initial press release from Caltech University, announcing the discovery of the Alpha Helix, his name is excluded. When Linus Pauling received a Nobel Prize for his contribution to Chemistry, he was not credited for his contribution.
He returned to Howard University as a full professor of Physics and Chairman of the Physics Department. He served as the President of Central State University. He assumed the position of President at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. He continued to research and published more than one hundred articles in his lifetime.
He became one of the founders of the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education. He led a group of educators to the White House to speak to President Richard Nixon about the growing disparity in financing for higher education.
He spent the remainder of his life in Silver Spring, Maryland, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #alphaphialpha

my first commonplace book! I had so much fun creating the cover for this, even if I did have to badly sellotape it to stop the pen from smudging
breakdown of all the references under the cut for anyone who’s interested!
vigilo, opperior, audio / I watch, I wait, I listen — the Magnus Institute motto, I think it’s just so slay
the title of the book is “(Neuro)Genesis” because (a) Genesis = start and this is my first notebook, and (b) neurogenesis is one of my favourite neuroscience topics and I think I’m funny 😅
around the edges: icons for all 14 Fear entities from The Magnus Archives, including several Eye/Web motifs because that’s what I’m most aligned to
the one more trip design is my would-be tattoo for the line “one more trip around the sun” from Explosions by Three Days Grace
Black Veil Brides logo, stitch motif, and the line “aren’t you lucky you’re a bleeder” from the song Bleeders, my current favourite
a ghost with a bow tie — Edwin from Dead Boy Detectives
what possible recourse… — part of Jane Prentiss’ statement from MAG 32 Hive, apt for the fact this is a book for collecting quotes and things
this is the way the world ends… — the ending of The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot, my favourite poet
and I have known the eyes already… — an extract from The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot
I refuse to become another goddamn mystery — one of my favourite Magnus Archives lines
the DNA double helix and a standard ECG trace because I’m a science nerd
for most of us there is only the unattended moment… — a large extract of The Four Quartets: Dry Salvages, my favourite T.S. Eliot poem
several multipolar neurons (some with eye/web imagery) since I love drawing them and also everything neurons can represent imagery-wise
bring all that is fear… — an extract from the incantation for the Watcher’s Crown from MAG 160 The Eye Opens. I actually haven’t got this far in the show, but I saw an amazing fan animatic that used the audio and it just stuck in my head, it’s so good
Statement begins — as if I needed more Magnus Archives references in here, I had to include one last iconic line
#commonplace book#notebook#dead boy detectives#black veil brides#the magnus archives#ts eliot#three days grace

Do I know you? Do I know you? Do I know you? (Patreon)
#Doodles#SCII#Damned#Helix#DAX#ZEX#The Captain#Dexter Favin#Max Vyer#Yeah if anywhere needed the distinction between Zelnick and Caleb it'd be here lol#Hhhhghghh I love iterative outcomes so muuuuuch#What matchups would result in what dynamics! And of seeing them play out! I want them all!!!!!#Three aliens is wonderful and delightful and endearing and cute and hwahuwahuh - I love them I love them I love the three of them#For all their little squabbles they really get along quite well! ZEX and Zelnick obviously hehe their relationship <3 <3#But ahh DAX <3 Happiness truly to have them all together ♥#Which makes what they'd be like if they were their ''real'' versions stuck together in the Institute post-Helix So fascinating to me#Would Caleb be angry! He's so sweet... But he was also hurt terribly! And Dexter would Definitely be angry#It really is such an interesting role reversal to me how ZEX is treated with so much respect and DAX follows him with such care#Switching to Dex and Max it's So different Max is ignored where he tries to move and affect and Dex is so - agh!!! It's just so much!#I really do wonder if Max would be able to pull him back if the last of the trio weren't there tho! Since Max ''knows'' Zelnick!!!#No good to go yelling at someone who wasn't there! And Max would have some piece of information Dex wouldn't from his dreams!!#Although presumably Dex would remember DAX :00 Which is its own deep interest! Ah! They're all just So!!!!#DAX out of the loop of the other two humans is quite funny to me haha - Max all paranoid like ''I'm going to be removed''#DAX has long since given up on that ZEX! Wait (lol)#DAX and Zelnick rely a lot on ZEX so the thought of Max completely failing to meet that role hehe <3 Would they all get along as well? :3c#The glue to hold them together ♪ No way DAX would listen to Max would he? Hehehe#Dexter being there would be picking right up from him being outside and agghhh the angst potential wagh agh <3 <3#Even worse to completely lose his one real tether to himself - at least when Zelnick died there was a kind of sick closure#Able to grieve and move on - tho he never really did :'( But with Caleb there what proof does he have of being ZEX! Aghh <3#At least the last one would be fairly light I imagine haha - humans humaning! Silliness and mistaken identity (and also poisoning lol)

The Imperfects
From the start, I knew the show would be canceled after his first season.
It was nice, but that's it.
It's like Teen Wolf meet mad scientists.
The characters were great.
It really liked the duo Dr. Burke and Dr. Sarkov.
But it wasn't as entertaining as others series.
Why they needed a cure when the pills worked so well?!! So many others thinks didn't make sense either.
ps: What was so urgent with Darcy's phone call?
Some quotes:
"- You know lying is a form of selfishness? (Juan) - And judgment is a form of control." (Tilda - Episode 4)
"- Why are people so obsessed with the idea of becoming a superhero? (Episode 4)
"- No, the science is that complicated. It's the curse of being a prodigy. I'll always understand the world in a way regular people could never comprehend." (Dr. Sarkov - Episode 5)
"- Pro-tip. If you speak less, you will learn more." (Dr. Sarkov - Episode 5)
"- Yeah, pro-tip. Speak less, live more." (Juan - Episode 5)
"- How do you feel? (Dr. Sarkov) - How do I feel? My girlfriend just dumped me by scientist. (Juan) - Oh, no, I mean physically. Yeah, I don't care, emotionally speaking." (Dr. Sarkov - Episode 7)
"- How about I know what it's like to lose someone you love?" (Episode 7)
"- Hate will eat you up inside, but you've gotta find a way to forgive." (Juan - Episode 7)
"- Because I wanted to give you my condolences. (Dr. Sarkov) - Sure you do. (Tilda) - I'm being sincere... Do I sound naturally sarcastic?" (Dr. Sarkov - Episode 7)
"- I don't want to. Immortality? Ugh, imagine. Never get anything done, because "There's always tomorrow." (Dr. Sarkov - Episode 7)
"- Our DNA doesn't make us monsters, our actions do." (Juan - Episode 7)
"- If you're gonna assist me, get one thing straight. This is not a democracy. You do what I say, when I say it. And if you don't like it, feel free to skedaddle." (Dr. Sarkov - Episode 8)
"- According to the clerk, someone matching Sarkov's description and level of jerkiness stopped here about an hour ago." (Abbi - Episode 8)
"- He was flirting with you. (Dr. Burke) - Of course he was. It's time for the tipe. (Dr. Sarkov) - Maybe he just thinks you're cute." (Dr. Burke - Episode 9)
"- Never underestimate a roach, agent. When everything else on this planet is dead, the roach is the one left." (Dr. Cain - Episode 9)
"- I'm Alex Sarkov. I'm a selfish, self-centered, narcissistic jerk." (Episode 9)
"- Dr. Hallenbeck said feelings are a waste of energy." (Dr. Sarkov) - I mean, you must feel something. Anything? (Dr. Burke) - Nothing. Maybe a simmering resentment for their selfishness. (Dr. Sarkov - Episode 9)
"- Careful, you'll chafe your hands. (Dr. Sarkov) - Now you develop a sense of empathy." (Dr. Burke - Episode 10)
"- Well, how was I supposed to know the Helix Institute is a shell company? When someone offers you money, do you ask where it's from? Or how much you can have?" (Dr. Sarkov - Episode 10)

Idk if you’re still taking hournite requests but if you are can you do one about them kissing after a stake out because I’m a sucker for hourman!rick sweeping Beth off her feet and you’re the best writer of them!!! No pressure! Hope you have a great day! Love your writing <333
"This is a dud." The ground shook when Hourman landed from his jump out of the scouting tree. "I'm out."
"Rick!" Courtney groaned, lowering down from her vantage point higher up the evergreen that touched the boarding school's estate, whispering through clenched teeth. She pointed her staff at him. Cosmo's light swerved up and down in response, quiet with the faintest of glows. "We're being discreet!"
He stretched his neck, rolling it around. Wildcat and Dr. Mid-Nite slowly emerged from their own hiding, shooting each other helpless looks.
"Who cares? We've been here for three hours. My hour's about to give up. Nothing is happening here, let's leave."
The long claws of Yolanda's suit gloves tapped impatiently against her folded arms. "He's right, Court. I get that you think the Helix Institute is freaky, but we already questioned Nurse Love and Director Bones. Nothing weird has happened since they thought we left here."
"Not you too!" Courtney exclaimed. Her curls whipped back and forth as she whirled around, trying to rally support from Beth, the last of her team members to yet chime in on the fate of her precious stake out. "Dr. Mid-Nite?"
Beth hesitated, checking the time. "It's almost 3 AM in the morning. Don't you have that math test to study for, Court?"
Yolanda smacked Courtney's arm. "You have a math test?!"
"Hey!" Courtney struck out Cosmo, flying above ground to avoid the attack. "It's fine! I studied! I've got it handled!"
Rick sucked in an annoyed breath. "You need to study. Beth skipped dinner for this and Yolanda needs to get back home before her mom sends her here next."
Courtney's face brightened, suggesting her eyebrows rising behind her blue mask, a horrible idea obviously cooking in her head. She opened her mouth. "What if Yo--"
"No!" vetoed Rick and Beth simultaneously. Beth looked surprised at their matched adamant tone, and even more so at the wink he shot her when he noticed her still looking.
Yolanda jutted her hand out with a glare. "Girl don't even go there!"
"I've got night vision and snacks," said Beth, always taking one for the team. "You're the one with the test, Courtney. I don't mind staying a little longer with Rick until his hour is fully done."
Courtney looked like she wanted to protest, but Cosmo chirped, dragging her onto the path in the opposite direction of the school. "Whoa!"
"See?" said Rick. Even the staff agreed. Case closed.
"Okay, sheesh! I get it! I get it!"
Yolanda waved before jogging to follow. "We'll meet up again tomorrow."
Beth lifted the goggles from above her eyes, incredulous at Rick's aloofness as they waited around in the dark. "You're not going to convince me to leave, too?" She dug into one of the pockets of her yellow and black suit for a granola bar. Two bites into it, she turned to glance again, still waiting for a reply.
"It'll be over soon." He tapped at the base of his hourglass. The sand was aglow, tilting into the slightest pile at the edge of the pinhole.
"I thought you were itching to get out of here."
"I was...but..." He craned his neck upwards, looking back to the evergreen. It was a nice view, eerie institute aside, and the moon was out. The other girls got to climb and fly high, but Beth always stayed grounded. It wasn't fair she always missed out on seeing the sights. Holding out his gloved hand, he reached for Beth.
She tucked her granola bar away, interest piqued. "But?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Are you seriously Aladdin-ing me right now?"
He cracked a smile. "I don't have a magic carpet."
She levelled him a look. "You're my boyfriend for a reason. Yes, I trust you."
"Nice to hear. Hold tight." He took her hand, and secured it around his neck. It was just enough time for Beth to yelp when he started moving. She clung onto his cape, hooking one leg around his hip as he launched up to dangle from the lowest tree branch, effortlessly climbing up until they were at eye-level with the school's roof. Beth shuffled, sitting with one hand bracing the trunk like her life relied on it gazing around in the open air.
"It's pretty, right?"
Beth, still winded and a little speechless, nodded her head. She smiled at the way he looked at her instead of the starry night and moon. He was proud of his trick and she knew it. He managed to sweep her off (and sixteen ft above) her feet.
She fixed her goggles on again, scanning the area with her new vantage point. Just as Rick was about to ask what she was looking for, she gasped, grabbing his hand. "An owl!" she whispered excitedly, pointing at the next tree. "It's watching us, look!"
There was indeed an owl perched on the branch a few feet away. Its black eyes grew in size as it stared at its unexpected guests.
"Are we, uh, disturbing him?"
Beth tapped the side of her goggles. "It's a girl, she's a Barred Owl. Five years old." She flipped a switch, entering X-Ray mode. "And currently digesting her last meal." Beth winced, removing her goggles so she wouldn't have to watch more of the owl eating its dinner.
"Definitely disturbing, then. Maybe she's Hootie's cousin," Rick joked, humouring her.
"Maybe."
"We should leave her alone."
"Is that why you brought me here?" Her eyes fell to his lips. "For privacy?"
"Do you think we need it?" Rick was so close, Beth wasn't gripping the trunk for support anymore, instead she leaned into his space until her back fit against his suit. His arm securely wrapped around her. Better at heights, she may be, he'd still never let her fall. Her hair tickled his nose when he tipped his chin down.
"I'd never say no," she breathed.
Rick kissed her smile. She sighed, bringing a hand to his cheek, mask and all. She cupped his face and pressed another kiss when the last one ended and the sandglass was empty. "We're going to be so tired at school."
"Did you want to get down?"
"No."
"Me neither."
end.
