i've thought about this long and hard and i have decided on a way to improve the world: all cafes should serve their hot drinks in proper mugs instead of those squat little teacups. more space to hold the receptacle and more coffee per serving, sounds like a win-win situation to me
#look those cups are just so HEAVY#for the amount of drink they contain#they're made of like 3cm of porcelain thick or something#the handles are not ergonomic#it's a disaster#this is what i am spending my time thinking about yes#anyway i'm gonna make a petition and hand-deliver it to my local cafes#an extremely useful way to spend my time#you all know i'm right#my post

Look, she's paralysed and won't really get in the way of Mechi's work around the colony. Mechi gets a psylink neuroformer, and Angst gets to spend nineteen days facing a bleak white wall in the corner of the laboratory. Win-win!

A distress signal? How curious. Archotechnology is always tempting...

Mechi went to investigate with Chief of Security Ratchet and Deputy Rocket, only to discover the place was crawling with gross flesh. They left with zero archotechnology and a renewed disgust for all things biological.

Finally, everyone meet Hummel, the newest wild man on the map. He looks like the world's most irate, washed-up foxboy. I love him.

Just laughed at a Youtube short about "Why would I have so many loose hooks when I could have this one, interchangeable hook that lights up and lets me crochet in the dark while my husband sleeps?"
I bought that hook once. I tried it on several sizes. Every single interchangeable head came loose. This was several years ago. It may be fine now. It's been showing up in product review recommendations from youtube, so the marketing offensive is definitely ON.
The thing is, she started the video dumping out a bunch of regular hooks that I ALSO have (we all shop on Amazon, babe), and I know for sure those all work and don't come loose. And don't need to make a little cash off affiliate marketing.
Give me a time-lapse video of using that interchangeable hook. Not a marathon. 30 minutes. In fact, I'll take 22. Because that's the amount of time it'll take you to stitch and watch a sitcom from the aughts on Netflix. Don't edit if it fails. Then I MIGHT use your link to give those hooks another try.

Everyday im haunted by how they made the first female doctor's sonic look like a fucking sex toy on accident. Like yeah sonics are kind of phallic but why does the 13th doctors sonic look like something you'd get on an adult website. Perhaps from the sci fi section

#i think they wanted it to have an ergonomic handle but it just looks wrong#13th doctor#dw#sorry for tagging

things i have learned in the last 24 hours:
i love crutches so much. i haven't felt freedom like this since the 3 hour ramble hike I did last year, the week before I stopped being able to walk
I am as short as the short motherfucker in tom cardy's perception check song (154cm)
nice (here meaning: non-medical looking) crutches are expensive
non-medical appearance crutches that actually have the 29inch/74 cm height that I use, may simply not exist.
a set of non-medical looking crutches with shock absorb ferrule and ergonomic grip that can sit at my precise 29in/74cm are my moby dick now
captain ahab I understand you on a visceral level once again
#me meta#the saga of finding a mobility aid that doesn't immediately make people infantalise or ignore me continues#i love my van gogh cane so much. because its dignified.#sorry for saying the quiet part out loud for a second#but i used a medical looking cane for a few weeks and got treated like dirt. the rage was nearly too much for my 5ft frame.#i am in so much solidarity with everyone who cannot afford or cannot find a mobility aid that gives them basic human dignity.#anyway im now going to spend a month looking for my white whale ergonomic handle crutches in a nice mature colour that fits my height#and it would be nice if theyre under £100 but i don't have hope for that#also i got my van gogh sunflower crutch at walkingsticks(.)co(.)uk also remember to check for vat exemption#i have more to say but i am once again too tired to type. beyond wild illness i have.

listening to this lady talk about crochet stuff, halfway zoned out, and she suddenly said "I'd like to be firmly stuffed"
the way my ears just perked up
i had to rewind and see what she meant, but I kinda prefer this statement without context.
yeah, I mean.... me too girl, sure
#just as i zoned back out she also went on to say “I like a chunky boy”#and i'm like...... yeah me too babe but i doubt we're thinking about the same thing#hold on let me rewind you again#(it was a craft handle)#(like an ergonomic thing you can put on your crochet hook so it's girthier and so it's more comfortable to hold)#(one might say the shape fits)#squirrel speaks#i feel so immature but i'm in tears laughing

We had guests actively choose the air mattress and sofa over our Berlin-Wall era, cheap, folding couch in the guest room, so we figured that particular hole-riddled tetanus vector full of rusty staples had lived its best life and was ready for recycling. We looked at Ikea beds we liked, and then went online to find a used one. Wife liked Brimnes.
Now, we have owned this bed's big brother. We left it at our last apartment because assembling it damn near made my FIL cut ties with us, three pages into the manual. The handles have ripped open my shins many, many times. They don't just peel the skin off, they bruise while they do so. Being aware of the fact that it happens changes NOTHING to your chance of injury. Assembling the handles upside down, ditto. If there's one series I could purge from Ikea's product line, it would be Brimnes.
But I love my wife more than I hate Brimnes handles. And this one is way easier to assemble than the double-size one. So we both put on our big girl panties, and compromised. We would look for a Brimnes bed, on purpose. And we were doing literally anything else then putting the original handles on.
Within a month, she found a Ye Olde Craigslist seller who agreed to sell us a third-hand bed with two minor blemishes for €279 off its minimum €329-without-shipping-it-home in-store price. With the slightly better mattress option that costs €70 more. And with 3 sets of fitted sheets for the mattresses included. (Disney princesses summon songbirds, mine summons affordable used furniture.) Our fate sealed, I went online, and before looking to spend more money, checked if anyone had perhaps designed an alternate handle to be 3D printed.
Dear reader, if you look for Brimnes on thangs.com today, you find 2 absolute terrors who recreated the OG handles, though one of them says it's for a different piece of furniture than the bed and might be unaware of the danger they're in. You also get 1 person who designed a cover for the handles, to be printed in the softest TPU money can buy. And you get 3 people actively damning the bed's murder handles in their model descriptions and offering a completely different, non-gouging design to attach with the original holes and screws provided. (We went with Aldan4uk's.)

when i'm empress of the universe, all powered hand tools (drills, angle grinders, etc) will have two parallel flat sides so you can easily clamp them in a vice. and when you set a drill down or hold it against a square or wall or w/e, the spindle will be parallel with the work surface
#personal#keeping it fun and funky fresh#this drives me Fucking Nuts man#sick of all these curved non-parallel non-square surfaces#like obvs the handles need to be ergonomic but why is EVERYTHING all swoopy#it's for aesthetics obvs & also bc curved shapes are self-bracing so the manufacturer can use less material#but Come On#this is such an obvious functionality upgrade!!#tools
