rogers: the musical being made into a real thing at disneyland has me overthinking again about the implications of it existing in the MCU and giggling. the version at disneyland is very obviously shortened and probably not what the audiences who went to see it in hawkeye saw, in the MCU i think it’s safe to assume that it was a fully-fledged two hour and thirty minute musical. and the poster makes it very apparent that it’s essentially the MCU’s hamilton. which means that it’s likely roped in a large fandom. and if we remember what the online hamilton fandom was like in 2016…
just.. imagine that, but with the marvel characters instead. ESPECIALLY considering the fact that the original six avengers caused collateral damage in nearly every city that they “saved”. literally imagine being a resident of NYC and seeing that the rogers musical that’s playing several blocks away from you is glorifying the battle of new york?? the battle that killed many NYC residents and caused mass destruction? to us, the avengers are just silly little guys that we watch on a screen. but to a lot of people in the MCU, the avengers are likely seen as a reckless bunch of vigilantes who have caused many unnecessary deaths and are glorified when they shouldn’t be. there would be SO MANY THREADS on twitter titled “why the rogers musical is problematic and you shouldn’t support it, a 🧵”. and they’d be right, to be honest. but while a good half of the internet would be bashing on the musical and saying not to glorify a literal war criminal, the other half would likely get sucked into and stuck in rogers fandom hell. imagine how wild it would be to see people in the MCU having stucky/stony/steggy ship wars online just like the old hamilton ship wars. imagine them making an “incorrect-rogers” blog or writing fanfiction on ao3. and just imagine users on the internet yelling at these accounts to not ship real people LMAOOOOOO. like all of this is so meta, but it’s also hilarious to envision because the fact that the rogers musical exists implies that there is an in-universe, hamilton-like fandom for the avengers as well and i don’t think we discuss this enough. we don’t talk about how hilarious it is and we absolutely should.

The Ryoko Kui interview's reception is such a disaster over a pretty normal (yet still flawed) interview between a non-Japanese fan and Japanese artistic. This is discourse for discourse's sake, and it's no surprise that almost every Twitter user I've looked at who's using this interview to parade Kui around as a goated mangaka standing strong against Western ideology is anti-trans.
Like, I do think the interview was kinda wonky with its focus on fandom culture, which Kui clearly didn't have much interest in. But sometimes that happens. Sometimes interactions between two people, especially a fan and a creator, two people who view and interact with a piece of media in completely opposite perspectives, don't click. Does this really need to get blown up into a "West vs. East culture war" issue.
Anyways, Kui saying "I don't consider my audience's interpretations when writing. I leave it to their imaginations, but I have my own read on things too" is the healthiest, most normal thing an artist/writer who wants a non-parasocial audience could say. Artists and writers use this line all the time. If Kui didn't enjoy autistic Laius or Farcille headcanons, she would have probably voiced/signalled her discomfort, like she did on the topic of Senshi fanservice. Overall, Kui handled the interview really well. Props to her to sticking to her guns and keeping a healthy disconnect from the fandom. While I think the interviewer could've/should've been more tactful and restrained, the flaws in their questions is not a symptom of the woke mind virus trying to wriggle its way into the pure Japanese psyche. It's the sign of an over-eager fan who sees a piece of fiction differently than its creator.

Life SMP theorizing is so funny (/pos) to me because like. There’s not really a canon, per se, so what you’re really doing is proposing an addition to the fan-created lore. There’s some running bits and storylines but for the most part the players are just doing some fun goofs n’ gags and sometimes there’s dots to connect. If you wanna make a really complex theory about motives and corruption and such you totally CAN but the only people who’ll ever decide if you’re right or not are other people in the fandom and also Martyn InTheLittleWood

do people really just wanna be fans of the hunger games and not mention palestine at all? like honestly? do you really wanna just support fictional uprisings and fighting back against fictional oppression but don't actually give a shit about it in real life? did y'all genuinely learn and internalize nothing from this series????

Proshipper = you're against censorship and harassment over fiction & curate your experience on the internet to have a healthy distance from things that make you uncomfortable
Antishipper = you're okay and even encourage harassment towards "freaks" and "weirdos" society deems acceptable to hurt

can I say something is this a safe space. it's kind of fascinating that ford is meant to read as a deeply repressed character and a capital s Scientist no less but he leads this other half of his life entirely dedicated to the occult. in the 70's-80's. like the historical connotations of the occult and what they represented in the united states at least seems kind of interesting in this context. for no reason in particular I find the dual aspects of "extremely dedicated to presenting as a logical, steadfast researcher trying to earn respect and social acceptance to the point of hinging all of his self worth on this vision for the future working out" and "deeply tied to the paranormal and "unsavory black magic" and everything Weird/freakish but feels like he needs to hide this aspect of himself from even the people closest to him" Very interesting. hiding six-fingered hands compulsively behind his back even if it's the emblem he puts on his journals. "what are you attracted to?" and "maybe you're simply attracted to things that hurt you" from two different points in the book. sweet dreams (are made of this) on the record player. hey does anyone know what that tarot card with a snake on it is meant to represent

Let's get straight to the point. Some of my posts have been reblogged with demeaning tags. And yes, I can tell if it's playful bickering or plain nastiness just fine.
I like playful. I do not like angry and condescending.
Now, I wouldn't care if those were sent to me as a private message, but tags are read. by. other. people.
Do not dare to use my art to shame other people.
And if you think I am or anybody is oversensitive (I hate that term) - people look into entertainment for a reason. Life is hard. Everybody suffers one way or another. Many people are hanging by a thread. You never know what will make somebody snap. Life is not safe, so we go and try to find a little safe spot for ourselves with some nice people. When you get attacked there, it hurts.
I remember how it feels to be vulnerable and have the thing you enjoy soiled. I remember the exact moment I left one of my previous fandoms as a child and how ashamed it made me feel. It was like 10 years ago, but I remember what was said and who said it. Nobody was speaking up. There were friends, yes, but silent when something was happening, because they were afraid to be shamed as well.
Years later I have my voice now and I'm going to speak, be it through text or art. And if my work makes at least one single person smile and feel validated, then all the hours I have spent on it have been worth it. It's always worth it.
That's why I do not tolerate pointless cruel mean comments, no matter how small or mild. Get your negativity elsewhere and fix your issues so you don't keep spreading it.
And that is the only rant I am going to post on this blog.
Only more fluff from now on ♡
