What you have to understand is that Gilear and Wealwell are the exact same character except that they’re on opposite ends of the “Has plot armor purely for comedic effect” spectrum and what I mean by that is Gilear is protected by The Plot because it’s hilarious for this guy who’s so unbelievably pathetic and incompetent to keep surviving every horror against all odds and also his own will, and Wealwell is protected by The Plot because it’s hilarious for this guy who, by all laws of storytelling, should be utterly useless to the other characters, to be unbelievably strong and successful at everything he does. Gilear survives because it’s funny for him to endure every possible horror pathetically and often and still come out the other side relatively unscathed. Wealwell survives because it’s funny for him to utilize his whimsical, hyper-specific, and seemingly useless skillset to defeat every opponent the narrative throws at him with infuriating ease and a constantly changing, completely unpredictable attitude.

I actually love it when actors I know from lesser-known projects get popular for some mainstream role because it's so funny seeing how the general public perceives them vs what they are in my brain like people are starting to know Noah Wyle but for being in a gritty and serious and realistic medical show however I know him exclusively as Flynn Carsen, guy who has 27 PhDs but was so annoying his professors kicked him out of college, who's best friend is a sentient sword, and who has been described as "Indiana Jones but if Indiana Jones was just a weird little guy" the same thing happened with Mike Faist like yeah sure he's that hot guy in that one Zendaya movie but to me he's always gonna be the dude who fell through a chair during the tap number of Newsies and it took like four other people to get him out while the rest of the cast was still dancing.

"the watchers hate scott" good point but have you considered that maybe scott is their favourite blorbo oc that they love putting under horrors. they love seeing him covered in blood he didn't want to spill because they know it will haunt him for as long as he exists in this universe. one watcher says, "i wanna traumatize someone," and another says, "what about this one?" and just pulls scott smajor out of thin air and they all clap and cheer and then give him boogeyman twice in one episode just because. and also his reaction is funny and the watchers smirk in satisfaction as he grumbles and screams. have you considered it. if not please consider it and thank you have a good day
