posted chapter 39 of cold feet on saturday, but instead of sharing a little preview like i usually do, i wanted to share the note i left at the beginning of the chapter. it feels like many outside of the figure skating world are already forgetting about the tragedy that happened almost a couple of weeks ago, and as a figure skater myself i don’t want anyone to forget. i also have a large amount of followers on here that followed me specifically because of cold feet, and so i want to try and help in any way i can. TW for discussions of death and loss.

before i begin this chapter i want to address what happened last week in the figure skating world, it doesn't feel right writing a figure skating centric fic without doing so. if it's too heavy and you want to skip ahead to the chapter, feel free to do so.

on wednesday, january 29th, the US figure skating community suffered an unimaginable tragedy in which 28 parents, skaters, and coaches were lost in a plane crash. some of these people i knew—others i didn't. regardless, what happened is absolutely terrible and unfathomable. the skating world is so small; all of us either knew someone in the crash or know someone who knew someone. we all have felt this loss so heavily. i am constantly drifting between not quite believing it's real and sobbing my eyes out over the people we've lost. it was really, really difficult not just to go skating after the crash happened, but to continue this fic—regulus is 16 in it, the same age as spencer lane, edward zhou, and several other skaters on the flight who perished. but their last hours were spent doing the thing they loved the very most: skating. and from the very beginning, my goal with this fic has always been to share my love of skating. i would like to continue to do so, but furthermore, i hope to share their love now too.

figure skating isn't a cheap sport. these skaters and coaches leave behind families who have given everything to support their dreams, often working multiple jobs, taking out mortgages, and struggling to make ends meet. if you want to donate to them, support the US figure skating fund. the link is here. any little bit helps. may they skate on forever and may their memory live on through us.

this is a half-formed idea i've had for two seconds but i loveeee the idea of reading a jegulus fic. maybe it's a muggle au, maybe it's a no voldy au, maybe it's canon divergent - that doesn't really matter.

you start this fic and it's a whole story of jegulus. meeting, slow burn, getting together, domesticity. it's jegulus and it's lovely and it's a whole story and then it just.

it just abruptly stops. because this is all the potion and none of this is real and regulus never let himself have that, no, he gave it all up or he didn't try for it at all or he never allowed himself to even think of it so this story? this whole story you've read?

it's just torture for him. you go from a lovely jegulus fic to him kneeling on the floor begging for kreacher to stop because he can't handle being shown how different it could've been
