yeah, so there's this thing called "storytelling" where you show and tell when things happen so readers get a sense of time and space. and people are allowed to be annoyed and/or make jokes about how a character has not aged visibly and keeps reverting back to a space he was in when he was younger

So, for whatever reason Bruce is out of comission for a while and i mean A GOOD CHUNK of a while

A few hours later, there's two little Batmans (compared to the og) running around with a squad of robins behind them

Damian and Cass are taking turns after this, and the rest of the family does the same to go with them

Tim only goes with Cass tho because Damian refuses to be Batman when he could 'show who is the superior Robin' by competing fairly with Tim while both are Robin

The first night, Dick showed up in a fitting version of the original costume, because he wanted to, Jason because he thought it'd be funny

Steph and Duke thought it'd be fun to use different ones, so you had about-

Four robins with shorts and one with pants before they got sent to change

Then the number stayed because 'No, no i was wearing Dick's costume, this is Jason's' and viceversa until there where four versions of Tim and one of Damian

Bruce won't tell them, but he was in tears when he saw all of them, literally all of them (he's so proud of how far they've come and he's also SO sad because when did they grow this much again?)

idk if this will be well received but like, Damian's characterization has been in the dumps.

Like even Robin (2021) was not good characterization for him. Like some parts were decent but he was severely nerfed.

I often see the argument that his current character is due to him getting older and being in a more vulnerable space emotionally with everything going on in his life rn, and i don't think that's an awful argument. But idk something about the way dc is going about it feels like wrong and sort of off for his character.

I don't think that all of Damian's behavior/personality is simply a trauma response, I think that he is who he is. So I don't think he would suddenly become a very "normal" everyman-esque person all of a sudden. And that is what he feels like right now.

I think it has to do with the fact that dc doesn't trust it's readers to be able to relate to a character that doesn't share their circumstances. But like I feel like to most people Damian Wayne wasn't relatable because of his exact circumstances, being a literal child crime fighter and all, but rather the feelings, interactions, and scenarios that can feel very familiar and relatable.

So like I don't think Damian Wayne has to go to public high school and be into pop culture and have a girlfriend to be a character that people can connect to. In fact I'll even argue that makes him less accessible to those who related to his unconventionality in the first place.

I have so much Steve/Nancy/Jonathan meta that the world needs to hear but my head hurts so fucking bad so ill just say this: Nancy and Jonathan ultimately have never understood Steve. Jonathan has never and probably will never even wanted to understand Steve. Nancy spent a long time struggling to see an actual person past what she wanted him to be, and then past his failure to live up to that vision. She might understand him better now, but she also might just be attracted to his more mature attitude-- but that's still not all of who he is.

and like let me be clear: they don't owe Steve their time and understanding. but until they actually get him as a person, they're honestly awful choices for Steve's friends or partners, because honestly there is very little difference between seeing someone as only the rich popular guy and seeing someone only as the one willing to do what needs to be done. and I'm not sure if they see all the other stuff yet.
