You can leave this ask for another time but...what's your dream menu?!
POPPADOMS OR BREAD?!??!
If you think I haven't been thinking of it for years, you're wrong π
1. Sparkling water, because Taron's right, it is a happening, a little party in your mouth, and describing it as "Champagne's gentler cousin" is so spot on it hurts.
2. Bread, it's obviously bread, of course it's bread. And it's sourdough, with whipped salted butter (potentially brown butter??), homemade, warm and gorgeous and crunchy as heck.
3. Starter: something called "secchia rapita", it's a traditional antipasto thingy from the Modena region in Italy, featuring all kinds of charcuterie, cheese, a lard spread and pockets of fried dough (gnocco fritto)βthe whole thing is just out of this world. Going the Joe Quinn route here and choosing a drink with every course, I'd like a glass of Prosecco with that, please.
4. Main: since I'm Italian, there is not just one main. There are two mains. Therefore:
4.1 Primo: Nonna's homemade gnocchi, with tomato sauce. Simple, immortal π€·π»ββοΈ
4.2 Secondo: a very good steak. Accompanied by a glass of nondescript red, Chianti or Valpolicella potentially, followed by the actual good one (read on).
5. Side: possibly more potatoes, or maybe that spicy broccoli situation from Shackfuyu in London (look it up, it's delicious).
6. Drink: a real nice red, Montepulciano or maybe something from Sicily, I'm not that difficult, just as long as it goes well with the food. π·
7. Dessert: the matcha French toast from Shackfuyu OR a slice of the best cheesecake money can buy. Can't seem to decide between the two. Maybe both?
