fully losing my mind about the little kid yelling for Bianca in episode 6 of PJO cause I heard it before I was even looking and was like “lol that’s crazy imagine if I hadn’t actually hallucinated it” and then that actually was the Easter egg

also hate to say it, but the bland vibes of the casino are really making me miss the movies. Like obviously in the show, the characters and themes are so much better, but it’s so much less fun. Like where was the poodle? Show these 12 year olds doing drugs at a rave, good lord. OR IF ITS LOTUS AIR AT LEAST LET THEM BUY LOTUS VAPES OR THOSE STUPID LITTLE AIR FANS.

they didn’t have to suck all the fun out of the plot in order to make it better. It’s also so dumb that these kids are fully aware of what’s going on all the time, like why wouldn’t they have Annabeth drag them to the arch because she’s an architect nerd or have them get high af in the Lotus casino and have Percy figure out the whole deal? It takes the fun out of the plot and takes away a lot of the character quirks. at least the movies has the silliest goofiest vibes. Like Luke yelling at Percy “hey don’t walk on my roof!” Incredible vibes.

one of my favorite kinds of obi-wan is an obi-wan that takes so much onto himself and thinks he’s the root cause and/or problem of things that really do not have anything to do with him/he isn’t to blame for. Anakin’s like “wow I just discovered you are into BDSM but I’m not gonna tell you how I discovered that I hope you don’t think about why I’m suddenly asking for all this spice in our sex life out of the blue”

As for anakin feeling like a slut, I definitely don’t think that’s obi-wan’s intentions in their talk in the car or that that’s how anakin feels as he’s storming off…obi-wan isn’t rejecting him by trying to make anakin think that obi-wan is a prude and that anakin is weird or slutty for wanting BDSM sex, but rather that they’re just friends and he doesn’t have kinky sex with people he’s JUST friends with - I think it’s honestly a convoluted but good example of obi-wan setting up a boundary for anakin and himself!

Of course it leaves the question of if obi-wan would have kinky sex with anakin if they were dating and in love wide open, but that’s not a question anakin thinks he needs to ask cause there’s no WAY obi-wan loves him or wants to date him. obviously. No WAY.

I like the Percy Jackson series so far, however, I do have some opinions on the pacing...

When you work in film you quickly learn that every part of a script, a sequence, a scene that is not absolutely necessary to tell the story should be cut. You don't want to spend time showing things that are not relevant to the story's progression... But this can lead to a film or series to feel like it's just bare bones. I personally like my bones to have some meat on them. That's why short scenes or dialogue bits that don't necessarily progress the story, but do deepen the characters or enhance the immersion are so important! A little moment to linger in the scene. To really take it in before moving on.

The Percy Jackson series sometimes feels a bit bare bones. We brush past important scenes to move the plot forward, allowing us no real time to feel the things we're supposed to be feeling. Episode 4 was the shortest so far at 33 minutes, with episode 2 and 3 at 44 minutes. I know TV shows have a limited amount of time per episode and a limited amount of episodes per season, but it's plausible to think these episodes are written as 45 minute bits. Meaning a 33 minute episode has been cut down significantly. It makes me wonder what we haven't seen that we could've seen. And it makes me think these episodes could've breathed more, instead of going from one scene right to the next with no pause. It all falls flat because there is little dynamic range between scenes. The quiet scenes are calm, and the fight scenes are not as intense as they should be. This is also to blame on camera movement and editing pace in the fight scenes, which remains largely the same as the dialogue scenes.

Overall I am enjoying the show and I see what they're trying to do in terms of setting up plot lines for future seasons and setting up character motives for choices later on. I just wish the show had a bit more !oomph! and better pacing.
