Shoutout to Superman (2025) for making it incredibly fucking clear that Superman is for good people. He’s hope. He’s love. He’s supportive. He’s an immigrant. He supports Palestine. He loves animals. He protects children.
The movie is a light. If you’ve been feeling really depressed about the world lately I’d highly suggest watching Superman.

Guys. I’m kind of into David Corenswet. I walked into the Superman movie expecting to stan Nic Hoult for the 20th time but no. David is an absolute cupcake and I love him. Mr Terrific was such a cool character. Edi Gathegi did a brilliant job.

I don't know enough about tennis or it's rivals to answer about the rivalry similarity. However for what's made public they both seem like good people, haven't heard anything about them, both there teams aren't run by the best people but that's gonna happen in most sports unfortunately. Jonas has 2 kids with his wife (there relationship is a bit iffy to me because his wife Trine was 31/32 when they met and he was 19/20 she also worked for his team and talked about how she like tried to resist but he was to cute or something). Tadej doesn't have any kids but he has a fiance, Urska who is also a cyclist. But yeah not to my knowledge has anything come out about them being bad people but like with all public figures you can only go off how they act publicly and will never know how they are when they are alone and away from the public.
Well that's nice at least. I don't expect them to be perfect people but let's hope they are not awful people. I was astounded to find out that Tadej is only 26 years old but has already won four TDFs....

What a thrill! They look so happy. Love that for these athletes. It must be an insane feeling to look behind you and know you’re going to win. But it can’t beat the feeling of entering the final stage knowing you’re going to take the whole competition regardless. I low key would love to take up cycling but also lol, please be serious Sharon.
I’m watching the final stage of the TDF and I just watched a dude successfully attack Tadej Pogacar and hold his position. Riveting stuff! Bro is riding for his life, it looks exhausting and not even the Pogi can catch him.

MAX's Top 20 Australian Songs. As voted by me. If you are interested in Australian music and haven't heard of these songs/artists, please give them a listen. There are many diverse genres here but I prefer our rock/pop history and culture.
Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House. Guaranteed to make a GenX-Millennial cry for all of eternity. They played this at my grade school, high school and university graduations. It's my childhood. No wonder I turned out so emo.
Never Tear Us Apart by INXS. If you don't know who Michael Hutchence is and don't understand why Australians talk about him like he's special-watch this live performance. Even when he's unwell, he still displays Level Infinity Charisma and Aura.
Tomorrow by silverchair. Raw, a little bit terrible but also inexplicably and completely special. My favourite Australian rock band of all time. Not a bad debut for a bunch of high school kids with a few crappy instruments and a dream.
You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC. You might have heard of them. Thunderstruck is more famous but this one is way more fun to sing.
I Still Call Australia Home by Peter Allen. Flawless pop songwriting and I will not hear a bad word about it. If you never cried watching a Qantas ad, did you really grow up here?
Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel. Everyone I know knows this song. If you get it, you get it. No point explaining it to my general Non Australian readers.
Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone. I love the original and I love every single cover of it but if I could bring you attention to two: it'd be the covers by Tuka and with Post Malone.
Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil. Even I knew this was political when I was a little kid. Relevant then, Relevant now. That chorus is still such an unexpected revelation.
Get Free by The Vines. What happened to these guys. They were just blistering when they burst onto the scene and could completely hold their own against all the other garage bands of the 2000s.
Emotion Sickness by silverchair. Their magnum opus. This is actually my favourite silverchair song. The sheer complexity and layers to this song, as well as the artistic maturity they showed on this album, continue to astound me to this day.
4Ever and Everything I'm Not by The Veronicas. I could not chose but I think both these songs are better than Untouched.
Into My Arms by Nick Cave. That first line of lyric? My favourite intro lyric ever and to this day, I still have no idea why and what that says about me.
Even When I'm Sleeping by Leonardo's Bride. A simple and quiet classic for the romantics.
Weir by Killing Heidi. I met Ella when I was a little kid and she told me she liked my Mickey Mouse t-shirt. I thought she was the coolest girl I had ever seen. This song will always remind me of road trips and country Victoria.
Nosebleed Section by The Hilltop Hoods. Bold, bogan, creative and infinitely unforgettable. They're from Adelaide and that is cool. I love their sampling and the Aussie accented rap will always tickle me.
Frontier Psychiatry by The Avalanches. If Australian Music was a family, I will always regard this as the weird sister with an arts degree. This is seriously so creative and I adore it. It's so rich with samples and textures that I don't think you can hear the same song twice-there's always something new you notice.
Calypso by Spiderbait. This song is so sassy and iconic. There are no notes on this but it's hard to have notes when your song is under 2 minutes.
Are You Gonna Be My Girl? by Jet. We had such a great garage band scene break out in the early 2000s. I think our Aussie lackadaisical DNA really lent itself to the attitude and sound.
Better Off Alone by Grinspoon. This is definitely my favourite song from them, it has so much feeling. Chemical Heart scraped into the original list and I'm glad to see they weren't forgotten.
Mind's Eye by Wolfmother. A big atmospheric wall of sound that is more an experience than a song.
The Captain by Kasey Chambers. Just gorgeous and so heartfelt. Tony Soprano said so. And we pretend I stopped at 20.
Triple J's Hottest 100 Australian Songs
2.6 million votes. 18-29 year olds were the biggest demographic of voters. The Top 10 is as follows:

Untouched by The Veronicas
Scar by Missy Higgins
Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House
My Happiness by Powderfinger
Flame Trees by Cold Chisel
Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel
How To Make Gravy by Paul Kelly
Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye ft. Kimbra

Triple J’s ‘Hottest 100 Australian’ songs list has been confirmed. As a long time Australian and Triple J devotee, I have thoughts. I will make my own list later but that top 10 is…a choice haha.

Some good news today though: Guy I Didn’t Know is now Guy I Do Know. It’s Thymen Arensman and he just won another Tour De France stage. By default, he is now my favourite cyclist because his first stage win was the first time I ever watched an entire stage race. I know Pogi will win the TDF (good for him) but I hope my Guy does well too.
I have no interest in cycling. But I’m watching the Tour De France purely because of the scenery and how enthusiastic the commentators are.

By the way: Public Hospital Doctors in some parts of England and Australia are going on strike due to pay disputes. I support it. I work in the private sector and have no option to strike. Before anybody eye rolls about this, some young doctors are paid less than your local electrician and are out there making life altering decisions for your grandma.
The news this morning: a government minister from Sydney has been declared guilty of abuse and he still hasn’t quit. Tr*mp is on a Scotland golf trip telling everyone else to get their act together. There was also a story showing a vantage point in I*rael where people can use binoculars to watch the war and bombings. There are vending machines in case visitors get thirsty. It showed three girls taking selfies. Then the news concluded by saying the USA and I*rael have pulled out of ceasefire talks again.
History will remember this.

Should I go see the romcom with Pedro Pascal. Or the western with Pedro Pascal. Or the comic book movie with Pedro Pascal. Screw it, I’m going to rewatch The Last of Us….with Pedro Pascal.

Wait a minute. I’m watching the replays. There’s another race. There’s been a crash on stage fifteen. How are these men still functioning. France is so beautiful though. There’s no architecture as gorgeous as European. I live in Australia and everything is kind of ugly here tbh. There’s no soul in the modern facades.
I have no interest in cycling. But I’m watching the Tour De France purely because of the scenery and how enthusiastic the commentators are.

I just watched a guy I’ve never heard of win the race today. And I was like Yay!!! (as if I even know anything about him). He’s collapsed on the floor. He looks happy and exhausted. What a feeling that must be.
