It’s voting time again for Triple J’s hottest 100 (the indie youth radio station in Australia).

Most of the songs I’ve chosen are once again (in my opinion) Aziracrow coded, because everything I do and think and love is now completely wrapped up in Good Omens and our Ineffables.

I am however completely FILTHY that I couldn’t vote for Too Sweet by Hozier. For some reason, none of his music was eligible to vote for. I will sit here and grumble about that, but also cross my fingers that Chappell Roan takes out the number one spot instead.

My favourite thing about hottest 100 day is the American artists with songs on the list getting interviewed and having absolutely no idea what’s going on

was going to comment on that 2005 song poll about how weird the list is considering the amount of absolute classics that came out that year but then I saw OP’s username, lmao

anyway I was looking at the list of billboard top 100 and triple j’s hottest 100 and getting nostalgic.

it’s wild because I think of 2006 as a year that was just incredible in terms of a hige amount of amazing first albums coming out like band of horses; so many indie bands, but 2005 was hardly holding back. you have snoop dropping it like it’s hot, you have green day releasing wake me up when september ends, you have mr brightside from the killers, a bunch of bangers from destiny’s child and ciara; my doorbell by the white stripes, first day of my life by bright eyes, I bet you look good on the dancefloor by arctic monkeys…ben lee and ben folds were both putting out multiple hits, bloc party’s entire album that year rewrote my brain chemistry but like eating glass is probably my favourite…and man, that’s not even mentioning the local bands I adored like gyroscope and sarah blasko and little birdy…

…and then I had all of this nostalgia come crashing into a breakdown (the second time that I had this breakdown) when I remembered that fucking bernard fanning’s solo shit won the hottest hundred that year, what the fuck man

okay i have a proposal for boygenius.

if one of their songs (most likely not strong enough) is in the top 15 for triple j’s hottest 100 (australia’s biggest music event where the nation votes on their favourite songs), then they have to tour australia.

i feel like that’s only fair, if the public put them in the top 15 songs……..

Some time has past, so I think now is a good time to upload my entry for Triple J's art competition, for the Hottest 100 countdown, which I didn't win. But I'm still very proud of what I made, especially my return to typography. Honestly, it's been long enough that I don't remember much of the process, except the lava was the trickiest and I had to include it for the whole theme to work.

when a song i voted for doesn’t get into the hottest 100 it’s clearly an incredibly under appreciated song and you’re all fuckin idiots for not voting for it. when a song i voted for gets in though clearly it should be higher and you’re all fuckin idiots for not voting for it.
