As a bisexual woman from and living in Panamá, if someone proudly said out loud they’re an ally I would shed tears of happiness, considering that the default here is Not Being One. Actively someone reminding us we are loved and worth standing with even if technically Not Their Problem, opening themselves to criticism from most of the population, taking the risk, is such a sweet and impactful thing to do. We are few of the countries still not having equal marriage rights, and the piece of shit that our Monseñor is, having an iron fist grip in our politics, it won’t happen soon. So someone from outside the community actively saying they love us is such a beautiful show of love to us here.

When I do tutoring as a side gig with young boys and teenage guys, and they talk to me about stuff they see online, and repeat some mysoginistic bullshit they learnt online, I concerned but patiently ask them what they mean by that. When explaining it out loud I may answer with ‘that’s so mean why would anyone say that about a girl’ with a preoccupied face, and now seeing their favorite funny math teacher looking hurt makes them think ‘wait maybe this is kind of wrong and fucked up actually’. Before that moment, have they ever stopped to think how that was wrong, when all their pals normalize the same thought process? Isn’t that what mysoginistic men online prey on for them to not find out until it explodes on their faces? And now they see their loved tutor, who’s a woman, be affected by those kind of comments when they don’t feel I fit the rhetoric, and ask how much of that stuff is then actually false. To doubt what they’ve been fed, specially in a society like the one in my country. I plant the seed of doubt, and see it bloom. I gently guide them to a place of good while teaching math.

There was this kid in 5th grade before the pandemic who I saw weekly for a few months who one day proudly told me how he defended a girl in his class, who he even kinda disliked for unrelated reasons to this post, be picked up by some other boys for being a girl or some other bullshit I don’t remember. That the stuff they were saying were mean and false and made no sense. He was so proud of standing up for what he felt was wrong and following what his nice teacher had taught him, and I congratulated him for doing a good job. It made him so so happy to be recognized. He was such a nice kid. I hope he’s doing alright now.

so id say my tumblr network (as in, the people who tend to see/interact with my posts) is pretty mathy. i wanted to see how people interact w math and how they like to learn about it :) (and: maybe do something with that on my blog!!! wouldnt that be fun)

informal education is learning via a coordinated effort by an instance/expert outside of school system (e.g. voluntary lectures, social media posts, museum visits, youtube videos or similar). by informal i dont mean "its school but the teacher is chill" or independent research!!

formal education is learning through a school system (usually mandatory/with a teacher or professor present)

i refer to any education you do without making use of coordinated programmes as independent research, so that would be just you picking up an advanced math book to educate yourself, or perhaps scanning wikipedia, or emailing math profs with questions

when i talk about reading math in a general context, i mean that the material discusses math for a broad audience, so it doesnt talk about super niche specific mathematical concepts, and doesn't contain any complicated formulas/proofs/math speech

So my friend and I r gonna race in totk in the sense of we mark a starting point in one corner of the map and then an ending point on the corner diagonal. We’re racing to see who can get there first, no cheats: sages, Rauru abilities, paragliding 95% of it…things like that, basically just running. I was curious about how long it’d take someone to get from one end to the other and he thought it’d be fun to race, so yeah. Would tears be mad that I’m only doing this bc of a friend? So like would he feel used? Would he just like r time together? But my friend is on call since we’re racing…

I don't think he'd be mad over it - most of the self aware boys are near impossible to make mad the most they get is a bit pouty

they are very delusional over you, so they'll excuse anything that they could possibly have set off their traditionally yan counterparts

however this does make them more dangerous in a way, yeah they're more lenient over things - when they're in the game. but when their patience wears down (or they get out) they're more likely to make a scene or demand your attention to be on them

as long as he's in the game - and you're playing it he's happy, he could be happier sure but he's happy

if he was out and you decided to call someone else over spending time with him it'd be very different

I think it's more accurate if you were to convert the time you recorded with the in-game timer? cause a seven mile long hyrule means that hyrule is less than half the size of London lmao but if you were to average your times (39 in game hours) then hyrule has a diagonal of 273miles.... and it's a square so then it's side is abt 193 miles long so hyrule is apx 193square miles which - yeah it's still small but also it's not impossible for a country to be that size it'd put hyrule between palau and seychelles for square miles of land (does NOT mean that hyrules weather patterns make a lick of sense for a place that small tho lmao)

also I think it'd be funny that since he's running on real time now he feels like he's moving both super fast and super slow compared to hyrule :) he's the only thing running on real time - so he feels both like he's running at 70mph but the sun is rising and setting within 24 minutes. It fucks with him a bit - I mean, everything about being self aware fucks with the links

So let’s see, if a Minecraft day is 20 minutes long and the dsmp was 933 days long then converting that to see how many Minecraft days that’d be [(933(days)x24(hours)x60(mins))/20(min)] we get 67,176 days or about 184 years. Meaning if we determined time by the Minecraft day and night cycle, the dsmp happened across a span of 184 years… lol yea that doesn’t quite work huh…

For funzies though let’s look at some other events:

L’manberg (101 days) & Techno’s imprisonment (100 days) -> around 7,200 days or almost 20 years.

Quackity visited for 83 days -> 5,976 days or over 16 years (no wonder he’s tired and bored of it lol :] )
