The Rookie s06e09: “What are you doing?”

Understand that I am crazy and then read: This game changed what I thought games could be. This changed what I thought Batman could be, what the Batman and Jokers relationship could be. The take on them and making Joker a glorified Robin, showing the player the absolute tragedy that is their relationship, showing me how desperate and gross either side can become. Like Bruce has to prove to himself that what he’s doing, his code and his way is right and the Joker is the product of that… he’s the product of all of this - HIS CHARACTER is THAT. I was never the same after this, this rewired my brain. This will forever rival any Batman depiction I ever see. I’m new after this in the way that I have to mourn the person I once was before playing this. Call it a ship, a game, or a superhero story - I call this art. I’m gonna sit here for the next few months being upset at the fact that now that I’ve played this I’ll never find anything else like it.

You know that kid who sits in the back of class? The one who doesn’t have many friends, the one who is quiet and always on their phone?

Or the coworker who never looks like they’re doing work? The one who politely declined your invitations to bars after work so many times that you stopped asking?

They are reading. They are reading fanfiction and they are dreaming.

That kid in your class could be the nicest, sweetest, politest person ever but they are reading a story.

The words take them away. Far far away. To distant galaxies, to old bookshops, to shiny long black cars, to an underground bunker, to the burning remains of a church, to a bar in a hotel, to the past, to the future, to a random high school, to a tiny little coffee shop.

Those words are making your coworker feel something. They are making them feel happy. Feel sad. Feel both and neither. The words are telling them what it feels like to hurt so much and still be able to smile.

Those stories are full of life. Life that, yes is very painful, but still life. Lives that we have no right to mess with but spawn from a place of love. Lives that we value too much to let them go. Lives that we change at a whim to give them a better ending.

These stories are full of love.

Let that classmate read. Let that coworker go home after work. And don’t ask what they are reading. Under any circumstances. Trust me.

Russingon: Fingon in Angband Edition, Rape, Torture

Rating: E

Warnings: Rape/Non-Con

Prompt: Fingon is captured when he comes to save Maedhros. Now he has to learn to survive in Angband. What I want is the conflict between Maedhros who already knows Angband inside out and Fingon who still tries to cling to his pride. For example, Fingon is horrified and traumatized when Maedhros is ordered to rape him and complies with no objection. Obviously, Maedhros does it to save him from worse things, but Fingon takes it as a sign that he has been broken. He refuses to do the same to Maedhros when he's ordered to, though Maedhros tries to convince him. Then he's horrified to see what happens to Maedhros and Maedhros is hurt that Fingon didn't try to save him from it.

Maybe with time Fingon learns that Maedhros isn't a coward, he's just doing what he can to survive and to help Fingon. And maybe Maedhros learns that survival isn't all and starts hoping again.

Please don't focus on only Maedhros's pain and trauma. They both should be hurt and suffer equally. I'd like the fic to include emotional aspect too, not only torture porn. I would love if they get out of there eventually, but happy ending isn't a requirement.
