Hi, Uyu. You've made a post about the Groom Persona Chart and the personality of the future spouse in relation to the persona chart. May I ask if you could make one for the Briede Persona Chart explaining how you would be as a wife? Thank you hehe
Briede/ Groom Persona Chart for yourself
Hi everyone! Hope you are doing good! Here is a post I have been preparing for a while. I thought it wasn't talk about much. Groom and Briede PC are often seen as PC for spouses but in other cases it also represents you. For example, you are a woman and interested in men, Groom PC will represent your spouse but Briede PC will represent you as a spouse! Someone also asked me about it and I thought it would be a good opportunity to make a post about the subject ^^ This post was inspired by my Bride PC but also married people and friends, and some celebrities too ^^ Both Groom and Briede PC were studied for seeing more type of cases! Hoping you will enjoy :)

WHEN MC GETS CATCALLED
Being a very extraordinary human, youâre bound to draw attention to yourself without meaning to. That includes the attention of unruly demons who canât seem to take their eyes off you. One of them eventually crosses the line by calling you names and saying inappropriate things about you, but luckily one of the demon brotherâs overheard and was there to help you.
Some scenarios have MC overhearing this or it happens behind their back. Even though the words arenât explicitly said, please exercise caution if these things make you uncomfortable! Also has some violent themes with some of our favorite protective demons.
------------
Lucifer
Lucifer was on his way to meet you at this restaurant because he wanted to treat you to dinner as thanks for accompanying him with one of his errands that Diavolo has sent him on. With your help, it significantly lessened the headaches and workloads he has to deal with on a daily basis.
Youâve done a lot around the house, so itâs only fair that he would take you somewhere more high end right? Youâve already frequented some of the other restaurants with Beel, so Lucifer wants to take you to somewhere more high class. He wants you to feel special tonight, and mostly to lower the chances of his brothers barging in and ruining his dinner plans.
He was waiting by the table he reserved when he saw you walk in the entrance. Given the venue, Asmo decided to make sure you look your best to surprise Lucifer because he wants you to really capture everyoneâs attention because you deserve to be the star of the night.
Well it did work because to Lucifer, you look absolutely stunning. He shouldâve taken you out to these sorts of places more often if it meant heâll see you like this. If only the constant house repairs and bills his younger brothers make him pay didnât get in the way.Â
Though his admiration is cut off when he notices other demons looking at you with this predatory look in their eye, as if you were the main course walking into this restaurant. Heâs holding onto anything to keep himself in line.
The last straw was when he heard the things some waiter said about you. To speak about you so lowly is insulting, thereâs no way for Lucifer to sit still and act like he didnât hear all that. The air feels so heavy to breathe in it feels like glass could shatter from the sheer pressure of it, and a deadly aura can be traced towards your reserved table.Â
âDo you wish to keep your tongue? Or would you prefer to keep speaking and see where this knife goes?â Luciferâs gaze is cold and threatening while his grip on the butterknife tightens to the point heâs almost deforming the metal. Even though heâs only talking to the waiter, heâs clearly sending the whole restaurant a message.Â
You knew you needed to do some damage control and tried to get Lucifer out of there, coaxing him to calm down before it could get any worse. He decides to listen to you for now, because this whole night was meant to treat you and not stress you.Â
âItâs best if we get a change of scenery. There are too many pests in this restaurant, let me take you to a nice place. Somewhere more deserving of your presence.â Lucifer would not want to dine in a restaurant if their food is served by these kinds of waiters. Heâd say itâs unprofessional customer service, but you can tell itâs very personal.
He takes you to somewhere fancier and possibly more expensive. Though heâs going a bit out of budget tonight, itâs to make up for those awful words that the waiter said about you. He hopes that you donât shy away from dressing up so nicely, because heâd want to show to the world why the Avatar of Pride chose you. Heâll treat you like royalty if he has to.
It takes one awful review from Lucifer to have the establishment shut down under the order of the young prince. He doesnât care what strings he has to pull if it means that your stay in Devildom would be much more comfortable. You should never feel unsafe like that again.
Mammon
Every other week Mammon would make a stop by the casino to try to score some extra grimm. As if his streaks of bad luck wonât be enough to keep him away here, and not even Luciferâs punishments can put a cease on his bad gambling habits. Itâs an itch in his brain that heâs gotta scratch after all! Heâs optimistic each time he enters the casino in hopes heâll score big.
There are a few occasions you would join him if your schedule allows it. Sometimes itâs to keep an eye in case Mammon goes too far with his bets as Lucifer instructed, because he doesnât want him to come home with more debt than he left with. Though in all honesty, youâre there for the smile your first demon gets whenever he actually wins.Â
At some point Mammon believes that youâre his lucky charm when he notices how heâs been scoring more grimm than he expected whenever youâre around. If he finds that your schedule is free, then heâs definitely dragging you along.Â
He likes to rub the top of your head sometimes for some extra luck before making a bet. Though he prefers it more if youâre sitting next to him when he does so. He says itâs for luck, but he just wants an excuse to have you by his side.
The demons at the opposite side sees you and begins to make snarky comments accompanied with wolf whistle. The discomfort is evident in your eyes as you instinctively move closer to Mammon, and heâs definitely not having it right now.Â
Screw everything, if this asshole is picking a fight then thatâs what Mammon will give him. If the demon wants to take hold of whatâs his then Mammon will make it very clear to the entire table that youâre not up for grabs no matter how much grimm theyâll put on the table.
âYa wanna make a bet how many teeth i could make ya cough out in a minute?â Mammon said, flashing a grin far too sinister. Being the second strongest and even the fastest, it doesnât seem like a wise thing to gamble on so the demons shrunk in their seats.
You like to think that luck is finally on Mammonâs side today when he won the round. Though itâs definitely Mammonâs threatening aura around the table that impaired the everyoneâs ability to make a wise decision when placing bets.Â
When he walks out with his earnings, his grip on your hand is tighter than usual while he checks his surroundings. He holds you like youâd get snatched away at any moment, and it doesnât seem like he has any intention of letting you go until you both reach the house.Â
âYouâre my treasure, but that doesnât mean I like it when other demons check ya out like that.â Mammon is quite protective of his valuables. You and Goldie are on the top of the list. Heâd play it off as acting this way as part of his role of Greed, but itâs clear heâs worried about you.Â
Whenever you text Mammon that youâre going to fetch him from the casino, heâs insistent that you either bring one of his brothers with you or wait outside because no way is he going to let other demons look at you like eye candy like that ever again.
Levi
Despite being a bit recluse and shy, Levi is not afraid of the prospect of cosplay when it means that he gets to express his love for his favorite series. He puts in a lot of work into sewing his costumes and making sure it looks perfect for the next upcoming convention.
Heâs ecstatic when you agreed to cosplay with him this time, even matching with his favorite character. As soon as he got over the fluster he got from the idea, heâs quick in whipping up clothes for your size and you both spent a lot of time in his room trying to get your outfits right, or going outside to get some more materials.Â
The process was fun for Levi when he gets to do these sorts of things with you, and the payoff was worth it when you both finally got to see the end results. Levi is so confident, you two look like an absolute power couple⊠from the anime, yeah definitely. If Levi tried to say that again he might burst into flames.
You both go to the con and have an absolute blast taking photos together or with other people who are also fans of the series. Levi wants you to enjoy the thrill of cosplaying! But he eventually noticed midway that youâre starting to look uncomfortable. Maybe itâs the clothes? Wearing cosplay for so long can be tiring after all.
He stops when he hears a passerby making comments about you in the outfit, and itâs clear that itâs starting to make you uneasy but thereâs no way that Levi is going to let someone ruin this event, not when you were clearly having fun together.
âThose arenât compliments. They're just straight up offensive! A MOCKERY to fans who dedicate so much time and effort to the things they love!â Levi hisses because this person not only insulted the whole cosplay community, they insulted you of all people.Â
You helped Levi get out of his shell and come to his aid whenever things start getting overwhelming for him. Levi doesn't want you to feel that unease, he wants you to feel safe! What if you donât want to do matching cosplays with him anymore? Thatâs unacceptable!
Luckily some other people got some security to drag the creep away since thereâs already a record of making other cosplayers uncomfortable as well. Levi doesnât dwell on that though, he grabs you and gently leads you away from the crowd of onlookers.Â
He tries to play it cool but if it weren't for the makeup and props on his face, youâd definitely see how red he looks right now. He mumbles something about how he mustâve sounded so stupid back there like what was he thinkingâŠÂ
âI-i know that some otaku like me canât be like those heroes i dress up as but⊠y-you can rely on me too!â Levi managed to say through the stutter, though just saying things like these out loud makes him wish for the ground to swallow him up.Â
Levi would buy you something to cheer you up and forget about that experience, anything to bring a smile back on your face. Any merch of the series you like, maybe gamble on some cute gachapons, or just buy some desserts together. He wants you to feel better!
If other fans want to take pictures with you and you start feeling uncomfortable, Levi would do his best to drag you away or reject them for you. Itâs taxing work and definitely doing numbers on his social battery, youâll both be holed up in his room to recover after this whole ordeal.Â
Heâll have pictures of both of you in cosplay as his wallpaper at some point, maybe show off some of your best pictures to his brothers. He would ramble on for so long about how you look great in the picture and really embodied the character you were dressing as. If some demon canât appreciate you back there in the con, then Levi will definitely worship you.Â
Satan
Instead of Libraries or Cafes like you both usually go to, Satan wants a nice change of pace this time and brings you to an orchestra. Through his connections, he was able to get both of you two tickets to the best seats in the house.
Thereâs no special occasion, he just wants to treat you to some of the finer things Devildom has to offer. Though he doesnât really have the wallet like Lucifer does, he at least has the connections to make up for it so Satan can take you to galleries and things like these.
He was on his way to the venue where you were already waiting for him. But he stops when he hears some demon making revolting remarks about someone he saw at the entrance, only for Satan to realize that person was you when you were the only one by the doors.Â
You could practically feel the rage burning through him the moment you two meet, and it looks like heâs hardly containing his wrath. Though Satan promised you a nice night, it would be a shame to waste these expensive tickets by going feral right now so he decides to keep it to himself.Â
He keeps you close for the night, giving you the royalty treatment and whispering sweet nothings by your ear during the orchestra. If you ask him what brought up this sort of behavior (not that youâre against it), heâd just smile it off. Heâd be honest about it, but not tonight. Satan wouldnât want you to spend the rest of the play worrying.
âSomething just brought down my mood, though it made me realize just how special you are to me. Iâd do anything to keep you safe, and make you smile.â He whispers by your ear, wrapping an arm to bring you closer to him as you both listen to the orchestra.Â
His eyes narrow as soon as he spots the demon from earlier just a few seats across from you. His pupils dilate, like how a catsâ eyes would when it spots a prey to stalk.Â
From time to time his gaze would turn to your side, and if that bastard would ever even look at you for even a millisecond then heâs gripping on the armrest for his dear life because he swears heâs going to throw a punch or even worse.Â
But no, Satan can be patient and cunning. He waits until the demon excuses himself to the bathroom, and Satan promptly follows behind. The demon was simply washing his hands and by the time he looks up the mirror, Satan is already looming behind him with a smile that doesnât seem to match the aura heâs giving off.Â
âLetâs be thankful that the orchestra seems to be quite loud for now. Itâs a shame Iâm going to miss it with my human, but itâll be perfect to cover up any screamsâ Satan says with a sinister grin. If those eyes cannot see your true value, then those eyes are not worth keeping.Â
Satan comes back to you with a smile on his face, apologizing for taking a bit long in the bathroom before you both enjoy the rest of the show while holding hands. Heâll occasionally place a kiss on the back of your hand, enjoying each reaction heâll get from you.
The demonâs seat remains empty for the entire night and the bathroom is closed for âmaintenanceâ when you check.Â
Asmo
What started as a usual hangout with Asmo quickly turned to a day in the mall. For the demonâs defense, it was the perfect opportunity after he tried to help wash your clothes and realized youâre wearing the same ones every week.Â
He will not stand for this when Devildomâs fashion line has so much to offer for you. Youâve been cycling through the same outfits recently, and Asmo wants you to have a new look!
Unlike his usual clothes shopping spree with you where he makes you try a heaping basket of outfits, Asmo wants you to choose whatever you want to wear this time and see what kind of clothes catches your eye.
Clothes tell a lot about a person, so he wants to see your aesthetic properly and know what you personally like. You try on the outfits you like and heâs loving the smile on your face each time. Of course Asmo would have suggestions, but not the kinds that would stray away from your aesthetic but rather improve it.
Asmo was waiting patiently for you in the dressing room when he heard some demons behind him, a few aisles back, talking about how absolutely delicious you looked. Even going as far as thinking of grabbing a bite and just hearing such words is making Asmoâs blood boil.Â
Heâd stand for it if it were directed at him, but to his human? He will not let some lesser demons talk about you that way. If anything, those demons should be cowering for you because of how stunning you are!Â
âMy love did not spend so much time trying out clothes that make them happy only for maggots like you to gawk at them that way.â Asmo glares, his eyes having that hypnotic enchanting glow in it. With the demons under his spell, Asmo has so much planned. A whole world of pain was waiting for them until he heard you from the dressing room calling out for him.
Asmo quickly utters a command to make the demons leave, heâll just have to deal with them later. Maybe later he can ask Satan for a curse to force them to cry and make their tears burn like acid if those demons ever laid their eyes on you like that again.Â
Heâd have his usual smile plastered on his face as soon as you walk out the dressing room with another outfit you chose, though he sounds much more enthusiastic last time. Asmo is showering you with praises, heâll find a way to make a compliment that brings a smile to your lips no matter what you wear. Thereâs no innuendos or any poor attempt at flattery, he sounds genuine this time.
âThis isnât just some sweet talk! I love your smile whenever you wear something you like and feel good about it. You should wear these more often, and maybe after this we can find some accessories to match your style!â
Asmo doesnât tell you about the things he heard from when you were still in the dressing room, he thinks thereâs no need for you to waste time on such things. Though youâve noticed how he seems to have two lesser demons following him around and carrying all his things for him. Satan just says that they did something to upset Asmo, now theyâre practically his slaves until he feels better.
Beel
You often drop by before Beelâs Fangol practice to give him a snack, your own personal way of cheering him on and wishing him good luck. Beel loves your generosity, and eating food that came from you specifically seems to energize him more.
Sometimes heâd spot you watching over him by the bleachers, either by yourself or with Belphie napping on your lap. Youâre like his personal cheerleader, and whenever you both lock eyes he can feel his heart making leaps in his chest when you wave at him.Â
Heâs by the locker room changing out of his sweaty clothes when he overheard one of the demons talking about the exchange student watching over them. Beel could tell from their words that they seemed interested in you, which didnât leave a good feeling in his gut.
Eventually their words became something much more twisted and vile, saying things that Beel would never associate you with. Heâs had enough of sitting by and letting them just think they could talk about you like that and get away with it.Â
Thereâs a loud BANG! And the sound of metal crunching. The demons turned around to see that Beel, out of pure anger, slammed the locker door hard enough that itâs barely hanging on by the wedges. Thereâs even a large hand print if they looked close enough.Â
âIf you keep talking that way⊠our next training sessions are going to be very rough.â Thereâs a growl as Beel spoke, his gaze making the demons feel so small before he left. He knows theyâre supposed to be his teammates, but that doesn't mean anything to him after what theyâve said about you.
You walk up to him in a hurry as soon as you spot him after practice, asking him what was that loud noise you heard from the locker room. Beel blinks at you for a moment before smiling, âmy teammate just slipped and hit against the locker. Donât worry, no one is hurt yet.âÂ
You tried to ask about the part where he said âyetâ but Beelâs roaring stomach made it cue, signaling that itâs time to grab a bite after training. Perhaps itâs best to drop it for now, there are more important matters such as making sure Beel gets something to eat before he throws a fit.
The next few practices, you noticed the aggressive behavior Beel is displaying during Fangol training. You know that itâs just a violent form of Football, but youâve watched Beel purposely launch the ball onto his teammates faces and tackle them hard against the ground when he gets the chance.
Only Belphie knows the truth of why his twin is acting that way, but he tells you not to think about it too much. âDonât worry, heâs just letting out some steamâ He says, unfazed when he spots his twin hurling himself against his teammate and tackling him to the point heâs sure it could cause a concussion.
Belphie
Belphie may be Sloth incarnate, but thereâs no denying that heâs smart when it comes to studies. You see him with high marks in class despite never catching him awake during the lectures. Youâd see him sleep with his head next to a book and he wakes up like he knows everything in itâs contents.
You ask for his help with an upcoming report you have for your next class and even though he wanted to tease you about it, he can see that youâre a little nervous about it so he keeps that to himself and agrees to fill in the gaps of your knowledge.Â
Belphie originally wanted to just telepathically tell you what to say, thatâs an easy way out right? But you told him that itâs cheating and you want to study hard. Belphie playfully rolls his eyes but he does it your way and answers your questions on the topic. He doesnât overwhelm you with information, but he helps tutor you so that you can have a bit of faith in yourself when you present to the class.Â
He put in an effort to stay awake when it was your turn to present and he has this sleepy smile on his face whenever you two made eye contact. You put in a lot of effort in your report, and he feels happy for you when you finish without problems. Heâll congratulate you when he wakes up because he has no energy to listen for the rest of the lecture and sleeps on the desk.
Belphie woke up by the time class had ended and everyone was already preparing for break time. He peeks through his bangs to see that you probably already went ahead to the cafeteria and he was about to follow suit when he overheard a particular conversation between his classmates that were still in the room.
He thought they were talking about your report but it turns out that wasnât the case. He hears all the disgusting things they were saying about you and itâs taking every bit of self control he has to stay calm, his fingers gripping onto the desk that thereâs bound to be claw marks.Â
The demons hardly noticed Belphie and talked without a care in the world as theyâre about to exit the classroom. Though their bodies started feeling heavy and they were getting sluggish, like reaching the exit is suddenly a taxing thing to do. Eventually their bodies drop, hardly having the energy to move no matter how much they try.Â
Belphie is standing above them, looking down on them as if he was staring at two piles of trash on the floor. âThey spent so much effort on that report⊠I'm not going to let lowlifes like you tarnish all that.â
You were about to head back to the classroom with a snack you bought for Belphie as thanks for helping you, until you saw the demon just exit the room and close the door behind him. You tease him for oversleeping again before handing him the Devil Pudding cup you got for him.Â
Belphie accepts the treat, and heâd tease you about looking so nervous before your report but heâll praise you afterwards. âYou worked so hard after all. You couldâve taken the easy way out or something, but you didnât. You should be proud of yourself tooâŠâÂ
When you two went back to the classrooms, you noticed some empty seats of what was previously occupied by your classmates. Someone told you that they started feeling âunwellâ and were sent to the clinic. No one really knows what happened to the demons.

The dayâs events shouldnât have felt so taxing, yet they were. There were only a few meetings you had to sit in on, both not requiring full participation. That sounded easy enough for you to handle, you were used to the rigor of royal meetings for years now.
It was easy enough to brush off any requests with a short comment of approval or neutrality, never expressing a thought of negativity unless the guest was close to your family.
You didnât pull the princess card very often, especially since your meetings mainly consisted of fellow royals who knew the pressure of the job, but today felt different.
Maybe it was the dull pressure that resided in your head, making it hard to focus on the topics at hand. You curse yourself for not taking some kind of headache relief earlier, but now it has lodged itself in the middle of your brain.
You almost work up the nerve to speak up, but your aide beats you to it.
âPrincess,â you feel a hand on your shoulder, âthere's an urgent matter. We should leave immediately.â Her hushed tone makes your heart clench.
You could only hope no one in your family was hurt. You silently nod and clear your throat, bringing attention to yourself.
âIâm so sorry, but something urgent came up. I have to go, but please make sure to send me any notes and Iâll be sure to review them before we meet again,â You offer the room a small smile, enough to garner empathetic nods from the room.
You let out a shaky breath and stand from your seat, your aide trailing slightly behind your side as you both exit the room in silence.
âWhatâs going on?â You ask hesitantly.
âSomeone has requested a private meeting with you, they asked to keep their identity a secret. Everyone in the family is okay, donât worry,â The aide turns her head slightly to make sure she can see your response.
You canât help but ask about your family first, itâs the only thought you have as the only child.
If someoneâs passed on, youâre stepping up to handle the situation, and the emergency plans start to kick into high gear.
Luckily, that nightmare can remain at rest.
âOkay,â you nod slowly, trying to process who could want a private meeting with you.
Is an elder statesman concerned about his country? An estranged family member asking for a favor? It really could be anything or anyone.
You both keep a consistent pace through the cavernous halls of the royal estate, your footsteps echoing loudly with each step. You soon arrive at one of many conference rooms, and youâre surprised to see your aide face her back towards the door, she steps aside to let you walk in.
âIâll be out here if you need anything, lest it escalates to that point,â She raises her eyebrows at you before looking away. That wasnât a reassuring sign.
You brace yourself before going inside, but nothing seems to prepare you for whoâs waiting.
âHi, lovely.â Kwon Soonyoung smiles at you in a menacingly sweet kind of way, it makes your blood boil.
Heâs dressed much nicer than youâre used to seeing him, heâs the type to wear baggy clothes that swallow him whole. In contrast, today he wears a crisp button-down with black slacks, his suit coat nowhere to be found. His signature designer sneakers are exchanged for loafers instead. Thereâs no logical reason why he could be here, considering his own busy schedule as a prince.
Soonyoung isnât flying in for a private conversation just for the hell of it.
âWhy are you here?â Your tone is resolute, not allowing for even an inch of resistance.
âThatâs what we need to talk about. Weâre getting married,â He lifts the corner of his mouth.
You let out a laugh that is nowhere near polite, in fact, youâre nearly cackling at the prospect of this idea. Itâs simply so outlandish, so fantastical that every time you look at his face it seems more unfathomable.
Most princesses knew to let each other know that if they were charmed by him, Soonyoung was ultimately not marriage material. If anything, he was determined to make himself the least suitable husband possible.
He was the typical sweet boy turned party animal, spending most nights abroad drinking his days away with a new girl in his bed every night. He does show up to the occasional political obligation, but only when his team forces him to. Thatâs one reason why he bothers you so much, he has such little duty to his native country of Aranorin and the people in it that everyone else has to make him care about it.
âYouâre joking, thereâs no fucking way,â Your body vibrates from laughter, but you slowly come to your senses once you see heâs not cracking another joke.
âIâm not joking, Iâm here to start our courtship.â His serious tone makes you start to consider the gravity of the situation.
âHold on, so you think you can just come into Maritria, coming from god knows where,â You make a broad gesture toward him before continuing, âto formally start our relationship. Thatâs what youâre saying,â You cross your arms, returning to your originally defensive stance.
âYes, this isnât just coming out of thin air. This has been in the works for a few months now,â He raises his eyebrows to punctuate the timeline. It just makes you even more confused. Why wouldnât anyone tell you about this?
âWhat do you mean?â You question.
He braces himself one last time. âIâve been speaking to the king and queen about arranging our marriage for two months,â You almost think his face goes slightly sympathetic at his admission, but thatâs wishful thinking.
Regardless, itâs a blow to your ego.
How could they not tell you? How could they so easily shift the responsibility onto him without saying a word?
It would be one thing if they were still considering other men, but to know the talks were final, that Kwon Soonyoung was your future husband whether you liked it or not, was a devastating realization.
âThis is unbelievable.â You let out a shaky whisper, youâre so rattled that you force yourself to sit down and close your eyes, willing yourself to take a deep breath.
You open your eyes to see him hovering near you, clearly a stifled attempt to try and comfort you. Yet, heâs the least comforting person youâve ever known.
âI donât want to do this either. Youâre definitely not my first choice for a wife.â He scoffs at the possibility that he could ever choose you without incentive.
âYeah, clearly. Youâd rather want a girl who would kiss your ass every day instead of being honest with you.â You retort.
The gossip that flitted between young royals all but confirmed your suspicion that he dumped any girl that tried to make a long-term connection with him. It was fine if he didnât want to get married. Not all royals are meant for it, and he didnât have as much pressure to marry off as the youngest child. He could get away with being a lifetime bachelor, but choosing that lifestyle wasnât worth hurting other people in the process.
âAw, is lifetime celibacy boring you that much to the point where youâre worried about the girls I sleep with?â He cracks a smile that you match with a forced laugh.
âNo, I just think you dump them as soon as they realize how small your dick is.â You smile through your response, causing him to form his arms together.
âYouâre so lucky now that weâre together, you can finally stop waiting for those nice guys who donât have a personality to sweep you up,â His condescending tone makes you frustrated but not deterred from bantering completely.
âSo I can end up dating one of your dickhead friends instead? Absolutely not,â You shake your head knowing how insufferable most of his friends are. Soonyoung just happened to be the worst of them.
âAll jokes aside, I know youâre perfectly aware of why weâre getting married. I donât have to look at the news to know things are bleak,â His straightforward approach forces you to swallow the lump in your throat.
You knew the countryâs finances were not great.
You didnât want or need to see the exact numbers, especially if it makes your day-to-day duties labored with worry. Although many political teams insist that princesses have no business in the logistical affairs of running a country, it meant everything to you to know how your country was faring in the world. Maritria already maintained a longstanding connection with Aranorin that gave your country some freedom to pursue other lucrative opportunities, but it dawned on you that it wasnât enough.
âIâm doing this for my country, not out of some pathetic excuse you may have to avoid self-reflection. You can just get married to me and stop pretending to be a good person, right?â You ask bitingly.
âWe both know I stopped pretending a long time ago. Marrying the nationâs sweetheart is just a bonus,â He smirks unapologetically, you donât like the way the nickname sits on his tongue as if itâs his own.
âIs there anything else you want? I need to get back to work,â You stand up from your seat, trying not to look back at the door while you plot your escape. It was hard enough not to completely explode at him, and you needed to redirect your energy elsewhere.
âThere is, I got you something,â He retrieves a small velvet box from his pocket. âItâs not an engagement ring, but just consider it a courtship gift.â
You open the box and lightly examine the ring. You know itâs far too expensive than most of the jewelry youâve ever worn. Your family was wealthy, but Soonyoungâs family had the kind of money that you didnât need to plan so carefully around. However, you donât want to seem so easily impressed.
âItâs fine. When are you planning on proposing?â You brush him off easily.
âThat ruins the surprise.â He smiles at you yet your face remains stoic.
âIâll get your number from someone else, I donât want to drag this out anymore.â You stuff the box in your dress pocket and start to make your way toward the exit.
âItâs been horrible to see you again, Your Royal Highness.â His stiffly formal greeting makes you turn around to face him.
You squint your eyes. âDonât do that.â
âWhat?â
âThe Royal Highness thing,â You point at yourself before continuing, âIâm not gonna say Your Royal Highness every time weâre in private. Donât start giving a shit now.â
âFine. Bye, darling.â He quips.
Your face contorts into disgust before you can stop yourself. âYouâre not gonna make that my mandated wife nickname.â
âYou donât get to choose the nickname I give you, honey.â He approaches you and pinches your cheek before speaking, âBesides, itâll be fun to try to figure out how to mask my hate for you in public.â
You cringe at his touches, but you straighten up immediately.
âLikewise,â You offer a tight-lipped smile before finally leaving the room.
You close the door behind you and take the breath you didnât know you were holding in.
âCan you clear my schedule for the rest of the day? I need time to deal with this,â You finally look at your aide with an expectant glance.
âYes, of course, princess.â She immediately grabs her phone to send notices to those involved. You canât even remember who you were meant to see for the rest of the day. Your mind simply wanders to your parents, the next targets of your rage.
âIâm gonna go home. I donât want to see anyone unless itâs my parents. Or him, not that I want him around anyways,â You roll your eyes at the thought of having to voluntarily communicate with him on a regular basis.
âSounds good. I have his phone number, if youâd like it.â She offers.
âOk,â You agree and quickly input his phone number. As you type in a contact name, youâre not sure what to call him.
Soonyoung is far too casual, it doesnât feel comfortable yet. Youâre absolutely not calling him by his title, not by a long shot.
The romantic pet names similar to the ones he used with you were not earned, so it left you stumped.
You settle on âheadache,â because the ache in your temple is still there, bothering you immensely and now heâs adding to it.
Youâre just lucky that you didnât end up shouting at each other this time.
â
As if they could read your mind, your parents call you in for an emergency meeting before you can make it home. That pent-up rage is starting to make its way out before you even see them, it shows in the way you stomp to your fatherâs main office, marching far ahead of your aide.
You open the door without knocking, a major sign that youâre not looking forward to the discussion.
Your father gives you a warning look, but youâre not bothered by it. The staff turns their attention toward your bold entrance, immediately preparing themselves to leave.
Your father is sitting in his velvet study chair, poised as always. Your mother stands behind your father, idly leaning her weight against the back wall.
Her demeanor is not as composed, as if she knows youâre about to raise hell.
âWeâd like a private meeting, thank you,â He gives a pained smile to the staff and they all file out silently. You watch them with a fiery gaze, waiting for the last person to close the door behind you.
When the door finally shuts, you whip your gaze to face them again.
âSoonyoung? Are you kidding me?â You exclaim.
âY/N, please,â Your mother tries to intercept, but youâre faster than that.
âActually, Iâd like to know exactly why I was left out of the conversation about me having an arranged marriage, to begin with,â You cross your arms and lean back in your chair, preparing yourself for a bullshit excuse.
âWell, we were anticipating this kind of reaction,â he gestures at you in disapproval, âyou werenât meant to be involved in these discussions in the first place.â He speaks to you so patronizingly that it almost catches you off guard.
âSo you can just decide that Iâm getting married on a whim, just like that.â You snap your fingers impatiently.
âYou know how the country is currently faring, you knew marriage could possibly be an option for financial security almost a year ago. Please donât act like this is some affront to you,â Your father slowly raises his voice, fists slowly clenching as he elaborates.
âYes, but you didnât tell me things were this bad. You didnât tell me that you had tried everything else. Hell, you didnât even tell me that you were starting discussions about marriage!â You were trying your best to keep your voice even, but the defeat was starting to show through.
âWe ultimately thought leaving you in the dark was best, but we miscalculated.â Your mother tries to cover for your fatherâs stern approach. You scoff, turning away for a moment before continuing.
Miscalculated is an understatement. You were devastated.
Your father seems to be annoyed that you were showing this much emotion while your mother seems ashamed that the situation has escalated this far. Their conflicting expressions just made you feel even worse, knowing that they couldnât act as a united front. You wished that it was either complete anger or support from both of them.
âSoonyoung. You canât possibly tell me he was the only option,â You turn back to them with glossy eyes.
âSweetheart, you know Arinorin is one of our most important allies. Soonyoung would have always been an option. Even if there were better options, we couldnât ignore him.â Her comforting tone does little to comfort you at the moment.
A tear finally falls onto your cheek. Her words hurt because she was right. Even if there was a perfect prince waiting for you out there, he wasnât the prince of Arinorin.
âHe hates me, you donât see how much he hates me.â You shake your head and cover your face with your hands. Youâre fully sobbing into your hands and it leaves your parents speechless. You know theyâre looking at you with full judgment, but it didnât matter.
âYouâre giving your only daughter away to a man who despises her.â You seethe through your tears.
âHe hasnât given us any reason not to trust him.â Your father speaks up again and it breaks you down even further. He has that immovable stare on his face that signals his word is final.
You compose yourself before speaking again.
âWhen we get a divorce, itâll be your fault.â You lift your hand to your cheeks, wiping away any stray tears left on your face.
âYouâre being ridiculous, youâre saying that you wonât even try for your country?â Your father shifts in his seat, it seems like he wants to jump up and fully lecture you but it wonât happen.
You finally snap. âI have tried for this country! Every day, I have shown both of you what Iâm capable of as a future queen, not asking you for anything. Now, the one part of my life where I should have control, choosing the person Iâm married to, I have none.â By the time you finish speaking, your tears are gone by sheer will. Your eyes burn with the familiar sting of fatigue mixed with anger bubbling over the surface.
âIâm sorry, dear.â You see your mother wipe a tear of her own. You were grateful that she saw through you, at least at this moment. It was a quiet show of support that you needed amongst all these difficult feelings.
You put your head in your hands for a moment before looking up at them. âIâm going home and someone will send me the things I need to wrap my head around this entire situation.â Your tone is far more measured compared to before.
Before you can hurt your own feelings by hearing them out, you decide to make your exit. Youâre nearly out of the door before you turn around again, letting go of the doorknob.
âIâll always remember that he told me first instead of you.â With that, you leave without looking back at their expressions.
Hopefully, itâll hurt like hell for them to hear it.
You ignore the staff members that were peering near the door, eagerly waiting to see who would break first. Youâre sure that it looks dramatic, but you were far too concerned with your own feelings before anyone elseâs.
â
Once you made it home, you were attempting to forget the stress of the day and it was going relatively well. You were able to catch up on a TV show youâd been forgetting to watch, and finally remembering to do self-care tasks that were left unattended due to your work.
Now, youâre taking a bubble bath with no intention of opening your eyes anytime soon. You needed to just sit, you didnât have much time to do that most days.
The water is still fairly hot, enough to where you can sink down and continue to salvage any remaining calmness you mightâve had left.
Thus, your vibrating phone didnât exactly make you feel at ease. You hope that it wasnât one of your parents, considering your conversation didnât have a clean finish. Any of their apologies would be falling on stubborn ears.
You glance at your lock screen and if anything, itâs worse.
Itâs him. You pick up the phone with an anxious hand and press the accept button.
âWhat do you want?â You snap at him.
âYou actually picked up!â He notes with a hint of surprise.
âTrust me, I didnât want to.â You shift uncomfortably in the bathtub, the sloshing water calling you out immediately.
âIs that water? What are you doing?â His curious nature already annoys you, so itâll be easier to dodge the question.
âNone of your business.â Your free hand cups the remaining bubbles in the bath.
âOh my god, is the princess naked on the phone with me?â He sounds far too pleased with himself. You can practically hear his shit-eating grin in the way he replies.
âYouâre a horny little freak who hasnât told me why heâs called yet.â You force yourself to sit up now that the relaxation in your body is quickly dissipating.
âRight. Weâre doing intimacy coordination tomorrow. I figured you didnât look at that schedule they gave you.â
âShit.â You sigh just out of earshot.
Intimacy coordination isnât common at all with arranged royal marriages. If a couple looked like they had never met before in their life, it was typically on them for not being more convincing. Yet, the number of public events you two have to be involved in over the foreseeable future warranted different circumstances. If you couldnât look head over heels for each other at the wedding, it was going to spell trouble for both countries.
âIâm only in town until tomorrow night, so I donât have to look at your face for much longer than that,â You sigh at his response, knowing that heâs not one to hold back with you.
âI wish you could leave sooner, maybe I could actually enjoy not seeing you even more than I already do.â You reach to open the drain.
âJust practicing my future husband duties by stressing you out, love,â You can practically hear his smile through the phone.
âThat one isnât bad, actually,â Your thoughts trail off once you hear it, but he brings you back to reality almost immediately.
âSo thatâs definitely not what Iâm gonna call you.â
âIâm hanging up.â Your waning patience with him has officially run out and youâre itching to move on with your night.
âBye, honey!â Heâs laughing uncontrollably through the response and it makes your blood boil. Itâs clear that this is already a joke to him.
âFuck off,â You hang up before you have to listen to his laughter any longer. You put your head in your hands and let out a muffled scream.
He already wanted to make this courtship as excruciating as possible.
You finally stand up from the bath and wrap a warm towel around your body, staring at your reflection in the mirror.
Luckily, your parents did listen to your request and a massive document of schedules and timelines of your relationship with Soonyoung appeared in your email inbox.
You had only skimmed the schedule before Soonyoung called you, you stopped looking at it before it stressed you out beyond repair.
According to the timeline your parents created in accordance with his team, you were supposed to have been dating for 11 months at this point.
You canât possibly imagine putting up a front for 11 months, but then again, you would have to pretend for the rest of your life.
That thought haunts you through the rest of your night routine.
How do you carve your life around Soonyoung when heâs creeping his way into everything?
How do you find peace when youâre with someone whoâs determined to misunderstand you?
These questions have you wiping your tears as you attempt to fall asleep that night.
â
To your dismay, the intimacy training was first thing in the morning.
You were barely conscious, but somehow you arrived early with a slightly cloudy mentality and an overall dread for the next 2 hours.
You were the first of the three, besides your personal staff members, to arrive at the dance studio. You figured the space was far too big for what you were working through today, but you forego criticism to admire the room.
Admittedly, you didnât go into many of the creative spaces throughout the palace because you werenât a creative type. The arts were simply something you admired from afar, you didnât have the talent even as a child to pursue these things seriously.
This apparently needed to be remedied as you notice the sweeping mirrors around the perimeter of the room. The hardwood floors were practically shining underneath your feet. Youâre sure that whoever used the room was sure to enjoy themselves.
Youâre admiring yourself in the mirror when you catch Soonyoung entering the room. He quietly greets the staff, giving short bows to everyone in sight.
Itâs the only time youâve seen him act with a royal demeanor, even in his casual workout clothes itâs a bit surprising to see him this way.
He makes his way over to you with a smile on his face.
âYouâre early.â He eyes you up and down.
âUnfortunately, yes. You look.. comfortable.â You donât mean to raise your voice up another octave, but you were just barely attempting niceties.
âSo do you, you actually donât look like you're trying too hard for once.â He leans against the mirror and gives you another judgmental look.
âItâs far too early in the morning to play this game, Kwon Soonyoung. Donât get your feelings hurt.â You close your eyes before you get too angry, a slight change of pace from your typical interactions with him.
âItâs fine. Iâm sure youâll be more awkward considering youâve only had two boyfriends, one who looked like he was your son.â He stifled a giggle.
âChan was so sweet.â You pouted at the thought of your teenage boyfriend. He really was kind, probably the perfect first boyfriend that you could ask for. You remember how much he cried when you broke up with him. You just werenât the same person you were when you started dating him at 16, so you needed the space to grow apart.
Unfortunately, Soonyoung was right about the mom thing.
âItâs not my fault I had a growth spurt and the stylists kept dressing me like a divorce lawyer.â You insisted.
You recalled how harsh the style blogs were on you back then, many claimed that youâd never find your own personal style as long as other people kept dressing you older than you actually were. Unfortunately, they were also right. You live and learn though.
However, you didnât even want to think about your second boyfriend.
âIâm just saying good chemistry doesnât come naturally to all of us, itâs okay to ask for help.â His faux concern was especially irritating.
You werenât that awkward with men, were you?
You didnât have much time to consider an answer before a young woman walked into the studio.
âHi, itâs nice to meet you both! My name is Elise and Iâll be leading you both through training today.â She offers her hand out to you for a handshake and you accept with a smile. She does the same to Soonyoung and moves toward the mirror.
âSo, how long have you known each other?â She dives right into discussions with the question.
âAround 15 years or so?â The number that came out of your mouth was definitely a rough estimate, but it sounded about right.
You vaguely remember being introduced to Soonyoung and his older siblings at a fancy state dinner as a child. He was far less mischievous then, a bit timid around everyone except his family. Since then, youâve ran into each other regularly due to the relationship between your parents. They were far closer to each other than you were with him and his siblings, so the situation feels a bit ironic now.
âOkay, but Iâm assuming you havenât been in contact very often?â She clarifies.
âNot at all.â He chimes in.
âRight, so weâve got our work cut out for us then. Today isnât gonna be too complicated, youâre just gonna be trying some physical activities to see how natural that looks.â Elise smiles in order to lighten the mood, but youâre certain it wonât work out.
âSo, what are we gonna practice, hugging?â He scoffs, and youâre certain that he thinks this is all bullshit. You werenât happy about it either, but keeping up appearances was the most important part of this.
âYes, I know that sounds weird, but I promise itâll pay off,â Elise continues to offer reassuring statements, but heâs not convinced and frankly, neither are you. You exchange a glance with him and decide to take the lead as the awkwardness continues to sit in the air.
âSo where should we start?â You ask out of a mix of curiosity and dread.
âLetâs just have you both hold hands.â
Soonyoung extends a hand out to you with a smirk on his face. Youâd rather slap him, but youâd think it would leave Elise traumatized.
You take his hand a bit too forcefully and adjust yourself within his hold. By glancing at the two of you in the mirror, you notice two things.
First, his hands are warm, a bit too warm for this moment.
Secondly, his thumb is absentmindedly brushing against the back of your hand. You canât call attention to it or else itâll stop, and you decide in the moment that itâs too relaxing. He probably doesnât even notice that heâs doing something so romantic, that little bastard.
âOkay, so how does that feel?â Elise asks.
âFine.â The reply forces itself out of your mouth.
âItâs fine.â He agrees with a nod of his head. He also peers at the both of you in the mirror with a slight curiosity, his head tilting slightly.
âWe do look good together, though.â He murmurs to himself. Youâre not sure if itâs the arrogance peeking through and he only believes you look good while heâs with you, but maybe for a second, you can see what heâs talking about.
âGood, and whatâs a small physical gesture you can do to make each other feel at ease?â Eliseâs question causes you to look up at him.
This feels unnecessary since Soonyoung is not a nervous person. No matter what, his particularly frustrating charm and gregarious personality never allow any anxiety to show to others.
âI can just do this.â He calls attention to the thumb thing and that puts you on the spot.
He seems incapable of needing comfort. Itâs one of the things that keeps a silent distance between the two of you. You believe that he remains emotionally stunted in order to navigate his world a bit easier.
He can let the girls who want something more from him down easy, and they donât realize how bad it really felt to be pushed away until they never see him again.
You didnât want to end up in that position.
âI donât know.â You let your mind wander for a moment.
Yet, he was bold. He was always decisive in what he wanted, never caring about what his actions made him look like if it was for better or worse.
You figured that you should be bold too.
You intertwine your fingers deeper into his grasp and pull his hand to your lips, leaving a small peck on the back of his hand.
His eyes widened immediately. âThatâs quite forward, princess.â
âI needed to one-up you,â You answer nonchalantly, but you donât miss the slight spark in his eyes. It was unexpected, and you were always going by the book.
Elise ignores your conversation and continues her questioning. âSo I assume you both will be interested in PDA?â
âTo a certain extent, I don't see why not.â You pull back slightly into your reserved nature, but he runs with it.
âYes, weâre supposed to be a more open and progressive couple to represent a new generation of royals, so it would be nice to be a bit bolder,â He nods decisively along with his response.
You didnât really think about the relationship like that until he mentioned it. While you were attuned to a certain sense of responsibility as the singular face of your countryâs new generation of leadership, it was known that you fought back against regressive norms brought up in your daily work.
Why not lean into something new when the image of your respective countries so desperately needed a refresh?
âThatâs good to know. I know you both have different styles, but I think there are ways we can meet in the middle here.â Elise notes.
That statement proves to be true for the rest of your session. Elise leads you both through hugging and slightly provocative gestures that make you want to crawl out of your skin, but you both fumble your way through it.
Soonyoung seems insistent on embarrassing you with more revealing gestures while yours are relatively contained. Heâs being a bit too playful for your liking, but it helps you understand his personality a bit more.
You decide that you want a moment to speak with him before he flies back home later that evening, excusing Elise and the remaining staff to leave you both in the studio.
âWhen do we see each other again?â You ask.
âYouâre a bit too eager, arenât you darling?â He smirks at you, and you lose the slight bit of faith you had instilled in him before.
âShut up, Iâm just trying to remember this stupid schedule.â You grumble. You resort to pulling out your phone instead, quickly finding the most up-to-date iteration of the relationship timeline in your email inbox.
âIâll be in Arinorin in a few weeks to meet your parents,â Your brain works through the schedule quickly, scanning the information fast enough to say it out loud.
âOh shit.â He mutters under his breath.
Oh shit was right. You havenât had a proper conversation with the king and queen since you were a teenager. It was typical family friend fare, asking how your studies were going, if your hobbies were still things you enjoyed and a faint interest in any other topics that you happened to bring up.
Since then, there were only brief interactions in passing that were fairly positive. They mustâve thought quite well of you if they agreed to have their youngest son marry you, but that was something youâd have to inquire about with them.
âAnd to go on a date with you,â You mumbled.
Thatâs what really rattled you. It wouldnât be real until no one else was around to direct and stage your romance, it was up to the both of you to make it happen.
âRight, Iâll get to choose what we get up to.â You can tell that his brain is creating a vision that will be less than satisfactory, and you canât fight the urge to attempt to gain control.
âWe arenât going on your yacht, are we? I think youâve broken enough hearts there.â You tease him.
âVery funny, and no, weâre not going on the boat⊠anymore.â He admits with an eye roll.
âSee! I knew you were gonna take me there!â You interject, letting out the laugh that had been sitting in your chest for a minute or so.
âIâm never anybodyâs boyfriend, cut me some slack,â He says it as if itâd get him off the hook for being mentally checked out during this process.
That much was obvious from the lack of planning, but youâd have to give him some space to try and impress you.
âYeah, thatâs pretty clear. I know long-term planning isnât your strength.â You bite back and he brushes it off easily.
âGet all your jokes out now, but Iâm gonna impress you. Mark my words,â He points at you while heading towards the door.
âWeâll see about that, loverboy,â You check your phone absentmindedly while he sees himself out.
âIs that my nickname?â He pokes his head back into the door with an excited tone.
âBye, Soonyoung,â You grit your teeth into a smile and watch him reluctantly leave the room.
You can only hope your future in-laws arenât as insufferable as him.
â
A few weeks later, the trip to Arinorin has arrived and all of its possible consequences are driving you up a wall. The culmination of meeting with your future in-laws, the date with Soonyoung, and the idea of being perceived as his partner outside of your home country are all slightly nauseating.
At first, it was just fun and games, but now, as the plane lands, the tension settles beneath your skin. Soonyoung was supposed to be picking you up, but you didnât have much faith in that happening.
You barely remembered to grab the ring he gifted you so you could wear it while you were in town, simply as a reminder that this was all happening.
You exit the plane with your luggage in tow, only for Soonyoung to be waiting on the tarmac. Heâs accompanied by a large black SUV that is clearly not his personal car, but his stance is trying to convince you that it is.
âHi, princess.â He calls out with a wave of his hand.
âWhen are you gonna actually call me by my name?â You approach him with squinted eyes, your vision steadily adjusting to the early afternoon sun.
âWhen this feels less awkward, so give or take a few years,â He jokes.
âNot funny,â You gesture to him to take your luggage, and he catches the hint once you look at him again. You donât want to shoulder smaller tasks onto his staff, you wanted to see how he would handle these things instead.
âHow was the flight?â He calls out to you again, you hear the trunk slam shut and he comes into view again to anticipate your answer.
âIt was alright, Iâm just tired.â You rub at your temples to punctuate the feeling.
âHopefully your room will be good enough,â He sounds somewhat considerate while opening the door for you. It feels wrong.
You slide into the back row with him following behind you. He shuts the door and his driver promptly begins the drive to the palace.
âAre you nervous about the trip? My parents arenât exactly as kind as yours,â Soonyoung chuckles.
You let out a deep sigh. You wouldnât call them kind considering the circumstances, in fact, youâre barely on speaking terms with them outside of public obligations.
Was it petty? Yes.
Was it also justified? Yes.
You figured that icing them out for a while would help them come to their senses. If worst comes to worst, maybe it could help you gain further control over the wedding.
Nevertheless, you were still upset with them.
âTheyâre really not that great, and Iâd say that Iâm pretty good with parents,â You avoid his glance to look out the window instead, taking in the sights of the country.
You donât have many memories of Arinorin. Many of them were informed by meetings that you couldnât even remember anymore.
âYouâre right. The nationâs sweetheart can charm anyone. Plus itâll give me time to think about what weâre gonna do on the date,â He affirms with a nod of his head.
âGod, donât remind me. If Iâm lucky, weâll be meeting at a strip club.â You roll your eyes.
âYou really have no faith in me!â He pouts. You donât give into him though.
âIt's hard enough just being in a car with you.â
â
Soonyoung doesnât ever have to think about first dates.
In fact, he doesnât think heâs been on a proper first date since he was a teenager. Even then, it was low stakes. He could just pick something random for him and another girl to do, and it would be completely inconsequential to his life.
Now, impressing his future wife with an incredible first date feels monumental. He barely knew anything about you besides that goody two shoes personality of yours. It seemed like everyone was suddenly obsessed with you and he was the last to know.
He decides that a midday picnic is inoffensive enough for the both of you to enjoy. If either of you were miserable with each other, there would at least be good food to distract from it. The sunny weather was already on his side, now he just had to charm you.
You waved slightly as you approached his picnic blanket, stopping before your feet could cover the edge of the blanket.
âWow, this is a lot,â Your eyes landed on the assortment of food spread across the blanket. There was a spread of fruit, snacks, and sandwiches for the two of you to eat together. Soonyoung knew he didnât completely fuck up by the way you nodded, but you werenât exactly jumping to praise him in general.
âI donât get a hello?â He attempts a greeting but it falls flat.
You roll your eyes. âHi, Soonyoung,â You state halfheartedly, crossing your arms in protest.
âHi. Does the food look alright?â He takes off his sunglasses and fixes his gaze on you.
âYeah, I figured youâd be inept at setting up a date, so itâs surpassed my expectations already,â You give him a tight-lipped smile before sitting on the blanket. He attempts to ignore the way your dress hikes up slightly to expose your thigh. The sundress that youâre wearing seems to expose every detail of your body that heâs neglected to look at, but he snaps back into focus when he hears you clear your throat.
Once you both start eating, itâs clear how little you have in common with each other. Sure, he figured itâd be a little difficult to get to know you, but the lingering silence doesnât exactly make him eager to strike up a conversation.
âHow do you feel about all this?â You ask suddenly. It catches him so off guard that he chokes on the piece of fruit he was chewing.
He coughs, raising the attention of the nearby guards. You turn to them, giving a signal that heâs okay before turning around. âDamn, I didnât think the question was that bad,â You laugh sadly.
âNo, itâs fine. I just didnât expect it.â He waves off any suspicion.
He takes a deep breath. âI mean, Iâm not thrilled. I know the economic aspect of this is the most important thing, but my parents are practically dying to marry me off,â He reaches for a bottle of wine, grabbing a nearby glass before pouring himself something to drink.
âSo Iâm not the first?â You ask.
âAbsolutely not,â He snickers. This relationship would mark the 5th time his parents have tried to set him up with a fellow royal. He has managed to sabotage all previous attempts on account of pissing his parents off.
The girls they set him up with were nice enough, but he had no chemistry with any of them. He felt like sparing them from a relationship full of misery by ruining it before it even started.
âSo your parents figured you wouldnât want to escape a marriage instead of just dating?â You attempt to clarify.
âBingo,â He sips his wine before handing you the bottle.
âSo, does that mean youâre gonna try to escape this?â You accept it and pour yourself a fuller glass, immediately taking a sip after asking the question.
âI think youâd be pretty fucked if I tried to do that. Iâm not that much of an asshole,â He shakes his head and laughs it off. Since being hated by his parents was bad enough, Soonyoung didnât want to become the center of an emerging geopolitical crisis.
It would fuck everyone over, especially you. He could at least admit to himself that you didnât deserve that.
âThatâs nice, I guess,â You smile halfheartedly at him.
âDonât say I never did anything for you.â He speaks in an unusually flat tone before turning away to face the view of sprawling hills and seemingly endless mountaintops. The sight of the burgeoning nature surrounding the houses below him brought a sense of peace.
Before you asked, he hadn't given the entire arranged marriage process much thought. Sure, he knew that youâd be getting married relatively soon, but he had no idea how to present himself as a good partner. He didnât exactly know how to move forward knowing that everyone expected him to fail.
âYou really are a dickhead,â You mumble.
âYouâre not exactly sweet as pie either. Everyone loves you, but youâre fucking miserable to be around.â He responds in a piercing tone.
âWell, if you get to be a cunt, then so should I. Itâs not like Iâm getting anything out of this,â You shoot back.
You were definitely worse off as an only child. Sure, he was the black sheep of the family, but he could get away with plenty of things as the youngest. His siblings were off impressing the world by ruling the country, getting PhDs, having a shit ton of kids, and generally being upstanding citizens.
However, it didnât make sense for him to try that hard.
âYour countryâs finances wonât go to shit, isnât that enough?ïżœïżœïżœ
His question seems to bring out another layer of frustration for you. âNo, I want a husband who gives two shits about me past my bra size, but apparently thatâs wishful thinking,â You angrily bite into a strawberry and turn away from him.
âLook, we donât have to do anything except pretend that weâre in love. So, letâs not do anything past that. Alright?â He proposes. Your face is unreadable, but the way you chew on the inside of your lip shows that heâd never get to know whatâs eating away at you.
âAlright,â Your body language seems to retreat completely.
The mood of the date is different after that, and his request seems to render you both silent as you eat the rest of the food without interacting. The view of the countryside makes him wish that he didnât have to deal with any of this, just live in a tiny house where no one had to remind him about his impending marriage.
â
The entire day leading up to the Youth Summit Ball left you feeling incredibly rattled.
You know the staff is perfectly capable of executing your vision for the ball as they've done year after year. It was one of your signature events as a royal, and its annual presence in Maritria brought much-needed attention to the country with the presence of young royals and its ever-popular red carpet.
Tonight, however, would be the first time Soonyoung is escorting you as a âlongtimeâ boyfriend in public. Youâve been seen together in public, yes, but this is a public declaration that you are hypothetically in love with him. As a co-chair of the event, nothing could go wrong since many of your peers would be attending with their families.
Nothing could go wrong, thus you needed him to know the extent of your anxiety.
You heard a knock on the door, and youâre accepting them inside without a second thought.
âYou wanted to see me?â He asks as he steps inside the dressing room.
Youâre thrown by how handsome he looks. You argued with each other over text about what he should wear, he insisted that it didnât matter. Yet, your color palettes were not to be betrayed. You internally thank yourself for persisting with a navy suit. It contrasted well with his platinum-blonde hair that seemed to attract as many eyes as possible while you were out in public together.
âYes, I did. You need to behave tonight, Iâm not risking anything because you want to get your dick wet,â You scoff.
âTrust me, I already got this little lecture from your mother. Iâll be fine.â He smirks at you, not doing much to quiet the anxiety that was starting to build in your stomach.
âWell, your girlfriend is telling you herself that Iâm serious about this,â Your hands automatically move up to his shoulders, smoothing out the nonexistent creases on his jacket. It was still weird to call yourself his girlfriend, the word felt too stiff coming from your mouth.
âAnd Iâm reluctantly listening,â He moves his hand to your bare shoulder, brushing something off with a few light sweeps. You opted to wear a black form fitting gown, the design was relatively simple but it was still eye-catching. You thought you noticed Soonyoung taking glances at you.
âDo you remember everything I told you about tonight?â You remind him.
âWhy wouldnât I remember, Y/N?â He gives you that âare you seriousâ kind of look and youâre starting to buckle under the pressure.
âI donât know, maybe youâre nervous or something,â You turn away from him, peering into the mirror to check if there are any flaws with your makeup.
âI donât get nervous about stuff like this. Are you nervous?â You see him approaching, but you put your focus immediately back on your face.
âWhat? No, stop, Iâm fine,â You purse your lips to check your lipstick. He mimics you, pushing his lips out like a duck and it startles you.
âThose cheeks of yours are telling me otherwise,â He rubs a finger on your cheek and you slap it away almost immediately.
âStop, Soonyoung, Iâm serious. Letâs just get through the night.â You shoot him a warning look and he puts his hands up defensively.
âOkay, no funny business. I promise,â He smiles. Itâs not enough to convince you, but your mind is too focused on creating a good outcome for the night that itâs fruitless trying to argue with him any further.
âReady for a good time?â He offers his hand out to you, and you reluctantly accept it.
âIt sounds bad when you say it.â
â
âYou know, she said we should kiss just once to see what itâs like,â His voice was slightly slurred as if the alcohol was slowly taking possession of his words.
âYouâre just tipsy,â You throw your purse across the living room and fumble to lock the door shut.
âNo, you are, I saw you sneak two shots out of the kitchen,â He points with a shocked smile, âplus a few glasses of chardonnay. Youâre not fooling me, princess.â
He was probably right, but that didnât make it any better. âGod forbid that I wanna drink at my own event. Why are you at my place right now?â Youâre irritated at his presence almost constantly.
âYou wanted me to do everything for you, remember? So you could just hop into bed with no worries,â He waves his arm into the air.
The event went well, accounting for your drunkenness and Soonyoungâs unpredictable nature.
âWhat are you waiting for then? Take my shoes off,â You flail your arms helplessly, your body is slowly slumping forward but Soonyoung catches you before you stumble.
âOkay, let's sit down, miss bossy. Youâre ordering me around when I was a perfect boyfriend tonight,â He guides you to your couch, slowly easing you down onto the seat when you let out an audible sigh of relief.
âYou were an average boyfriend who didnât look stupid in front of paparazzi. Donât feel too proud of yourself.â Your tolerance for his shenanigans was lower than usual now that you were drunk, and you didnât feel bad about fighting back at him.
âAll of this is extra credit,â He tries to reason himself out of the bare minimum.
âTaking care of me is not extra credit, itâs the standard. Youâre supposed to be taking care of me for the rest of my life, not just right now. Idiot,â You roll your eyes and close them briefly before his voice forces you awake again.
âYouâre so mean to me, your poor boyfriend is still learning what you like,â He finally takes off your heels and you let out a deep sigh of relief.
âBetter?â He asks with a smile. You know that he wants to laugh at you so badly, but youâre too far gone to care.
âMuch better,â You close your eyes for a moment before snapping again. âTake off my jewelry.â
He removes your earrings quite easily, but you still feel a bit flustered when he leans toward your ear to focus on undoing the clasps of your necklace.
He settles his face near your neck to fully remove your diamond necklace, he cradles it in his hand and you think you might go slightly insane. He places it on the coffee table gently and looks back at you with a smirk.
âWhatâs going on?â You pick up on his expression.
âNothing, Iâm gonna do your hair.â He turns your body so your back is facing him now. Heâs sort of just feeling around for bobby pins, placing them down on the coffee table whenever he pulls another out. Once he takes out the decorative pins near the top of your head, your hair finally feels free.
âSoonyoung?â You ask suddenly.
âHmm?â Heâs organizing all the hairpins but takes a moment to look up at you.
âDo you think Iâm pretty?â Your voice is a bit timid, nervous about how he might react. You wouldâve contained yourself in any other circumstance, but now you just needed to head that you were worth complimenting.
âWhereâs all this coming from, youâre just fishing for compliments now,â He shakes his head with a smile on his face.
âNo, Iâm not. Itâs just-,â Your thoughts trail off, but Soonyoung catches your attention again with a gentle hand on your thigh. You donât jump to move it away.
âEverybody was looking at us, but some people looked at us like I wasnât meant to be with you. Is that true? Am I not pretty enough to be with you?â You feel increasingly insecure the more you elaborate. You didnât think youâd feel this upset about it, but it meant your work was failing. You werenât a believable couple and it was obvious to you now.
âY/N, donât say that. Youâre beautiful,â His voice is noticeably softer.
âNot beautiful enough to sleep with. You wouldnât sleep with me,â You rub your eyes with your hands and Soonyoung removes them from your face, laughing at the traces of makeup on the sides of your fingers. It seems like he still caught what you said though when he stops laughing.
âAnd thatâs not the point. Youâre just saying shit now, all of the guys in there would be lucky to even kiss you,â He insists. He stands up suddenly and walks toward your room. You assume he gets up to find makeup wipes, but you sit with his statement in the meantime.
You contemplate if youâd even want to kiss any of the royals who came to the party. You knew your standards were high and wondered if that would chase them off before they even had a chance to kiss you. He comes back and immediately wipes across your face the moment he sits down. His approach is slightly rough, but you couldnât exactly get mad at him. He was just doing what you asked of him.
Heâs analyzing if he got all of the makeup off when you speak up.
âBut youâre not lucky?â You remark quietly.
That makes him clear his throat. You can even spot a hint of blush across his cheeks. It appears that youâve riled him up slightly.
âI am lucky,â He lowers his head to rub the back of his neck with his hand, âYou give me a run for my money.â
âShow me how lucky you are.â You continue to tempt him to see how heâll react.
âI thought you wanted me to behave tonight?â Heâs almost willing to act, but he still waits for your approval.
âI do, but she said we should kiss for practice,â You swallow lightly in anticipation. He rests his forehead against yours and you can hear his breath hitch in his throat.
Youâve been good, youâve been so good all of your life. You donât think youâve done anything worth batting an eye at for your entire adolescence and young adulthood, but it was exhausting.
It was exhausting to be good, the voice of reason, the example of a perfect daughter to your country.
You werenât in love with him, absolutely not.
Yet, the curiosity about what his lips tasted like made you want to be rebellious.
âI didnât think you heard me.â He chuckled softly.
âI did,â You nodded your head against his. Soonyoung didnât ask for permission to be bad, he just did it. Thatâs what runs through your brain when your lips meet his. Neither of you move for a moment and youâre afraid that you messed up.
That is until you feel Soonyoungâs hand cradling the back of your neck. Heâs tilting into the kiss and you know heâs comfortable by the way his tongue slips into your mouth.
He tastes like tequila mostly, but thereâs a hint of sweetness that you suspect comes from the dessert table at the party.
It feels so much better than you expected, now you know why girls couldnât get enough of him. Even if it is just practice, he still took it far more seriously than you expected.
You havenât had many kisses that were worth remembering, but this was something spectacular.
You know heâs kissed people far more times than you have, but thereâs still a hesitant energy there that you canât describe.
Did you make him nervous?
He pulls away first and it surprises you. He takes a deep breath and looks at you with tired eyes.
âJust a practice kiss, right?â He whispers.
âJust practice.â You affirm, pulling your head back. Youâre not sure why it felt so disappointing to not have another kiss. You were sobering up which made the realization even worse.
âIâll leave now before you kick me out.â He stands up from the couch and you donât follow him. He makes it to the door and turns around.
âDonât stay up all night reading thinking you can fight a hangover, go to bed.â He points at you with a teasing finger.
âDonât lecture me, Kwon Soonyoung.â You stand up and walk toward your bedroom, ignoring whatever expression is on his face. You donât look back until you hear the front door shut.
He didnât say goodbye and that was probably for the best. You didnât need any other memory from this part of the night to linger in your brain.
You rush back to the living room to lock the door again and sulk back to your bedroom. You eye the novel on your bedside table, you left it there earlier in the day to pick up whether you ended up drunk from the party or not.
Damn, he was good.
â
There were now multiple days, even weeks, between your shared schedules with him, and the more time that went by after the kiss only made you want to see him again.
Of course, he was friendly to you in public, and you were both able to handle public events with ease, but
the timing left you with many questions, and one stuck out in particular.
Why was he nervous to kiss you?
Today, he requested a private schedule for the two of you before he left Maritria early next week. There was a sneaking suspicion that it was the proposal since there wouldnât be another reason for you to be alone.
He never wants to be left alone with you, itâs all about putting on an act for others that makes it so thrilling for him.
Thatâs what you try to tell yourself, at least.
âYouâre here,â He eyes you carefully as you approach the entrance of the private garden. Heâs surrounded by endless blooms, itâs almost suffocating how romantic itâs supposed to feel.
âIâm here because you want me here,â You offer quietly.
âRight, well I donât want to waste any time. Iâm sure my princess has lots of work to do today.â
On any other day, heâd be right, but the underlying suspicion of his true intentions made you want to linger.
He grabs your hand before you have another second to contemplate your feelings.
âI know that Iâm not the person you wanted this to be from, but thatâs how things have turned out. We both canât get what we want, but I want to make this a good memory for us regardless of the situation.â
He gets down on one knee before asking. âSo, Y/N, will you marry me?â
His hands held a small black velvet box and he quickly opened it to reveal a stunning oval shaped diamond ring. There are definitely more carats than you've ever seen on an engagement ring, and the gold band it sits upon feels equally regal.
It almost makes you sick from how ornate and gaudy it is, but itâs yours.
âYou know this is the part where you say yes,â He clears his throat.
âGive me a second,â You mumble. You canât see his glance, instead choosing to look at the ring. Everything else felt like a game before, but this was real.
He is proposing to you, offering a ring to you to signify a love that wasnât actually real. That kind of sappy affectionate love you dreamed of would never come to fruition, possibly for the rest of your life.
Itâs a realization that is entirely too bleak for the moment.
Youâre meant to be happy, but if your parents were here theyâd pick apart how long it took you to respond.
âYes, Iâll marry you,â You force a smile onto your face to appease him. It doesnât seem like he notices the pained expression within it, only offering a content sigh.
âGreat.â He rises to his feet to place the ring on the appropriate finger. It feels like itâs all over now, you can imagine the rest of your future laid ahead of you on a set path.
The thought of taking constant publicity trips as a couple, having future heirs to the throne, and the idea of bringing him into Maritriaâs lineage makes you wonder if you did everything you could to save yourself.
There is no out, just you, him, and the impenetrable distance between you both.
You wonder how a couple might build a life with an unstable foundation.
âShould we kiss?â His question brings you back to your senses.
âWhat?â
âFor the camera, we should kiss.â He points to a photographer making themselves known from a nearby bush.
You swallow the lump in your throat and nod.
This is your duty, right?
You pull him close and kiss him, trying to ignite the small spark you felt when he was at your apartment.
Yet, the feeling doesnât come and you pull away from him gently after a few moments.
âWe just need some photos for social media and then youâre free to go.â The photographer reassures you with a kind tone.
You snap into professional mode in order to speed up the process. Your hand rests on his chest, angling it slightly to show off the ring. You force a smile, trying to indulge in the fantasy of it all. Once he gets a few shots of that pose, you turn back to look into Soonyoungâs eyes.
He was unfortunately quite handsome, itâs a shame that nothing else about him could make you happy.
âWhat are you thinking about?â His questioning pulls you out of your head once again, but youâre not sure what to tell him.
Being honest with him means making a sweet moment uncomfortable, and lying to him means letting your pain continue to simmer.
You go for the latter, to spare everyone a difficult moment. âNothing. The ring is beautiful,â You shift the conversation with a quiet tone in order to deflect the topic off of you. He smiles widely, his face tells you that he didnât expect you to like it one bit.
âI let my team take the reins with it since I donât know you that well.â He responds so earnestly, and youâre not sure if he understands how hurtful that sounds.
You take it in stride though. âWell, itâs beautiful.â
He only nods and takes a moment to adjust his suit jacket.
You watch him brush over the fabric with his hands, wondering how in the world you ended up here. Even if things were different, fate would probably still bring you into Soonyoungâs orbit in another way.
Regardless, itâs enough to make you even more upset. Once the photographer is satisfied with the variety of shots, youâre about to leave when you feel Soonyoungâs hand touch your shoulder.
âHey.â He turns your body to face him with his hand. Youâre not sure how much longer you can stand in front of him without crying.
âWeâre still on for this weekend, right?â
You canât be bothered to remember what he means, but itâs best just to agree. Itâs not like you had much of a choice.
âYeah. Iâll see you then.â You nod at him before leaving. The moment you turn your back, you canât hold back the stray tears falling onto your cheeks. You can only hope that he canât hear your sniffling.
â
Now that the proposal news was officially out, your life had an even bigger microscope on it than usual. Youâre used to being judged on a public scale, however, there were millions of people who were obsessed with Soonyoung that now wanted to know every single piece of information about his new fiancĂ©e.
Your Instagram posts and tweets had an influx of new activity that you could barely keep up with, and the new attention was starting to work into every corner of your life, even the time you spent with Soonyoung.
âCan you tell your fans to stop making video edits of me?â You stuff your phone into your jacket pocket in slight annoyance. You were genuinely trying to enjoy the private dates you had with Soonyoung, even if they were heavily guarded by staff. It was only right that you treated these outings as the dates they were, opportunities to get to know him better in order to connect with him that would hopefully prevent any issues further down the line.
Today, the location of the date was your choice and the staff had elected to leave you alone in light of the proposal news. Thus, you decide to take Soonyoung to a small beach on the outskirts of Maritriaâs capital city. Youâve spent many days throughout your teenage years in your favorite spot, a cove in a hidden part of the beach. You figured that itâd be smart to let him in on a few things that you enjoyed, namely one of your most treasured spots in the country.
âThat means they like you, and since when are you afraid of attention?â His interest is now piqued as he places his head in his hand to face you.
âSince always, Iâm not exactly a Kwon Soonyoung-level attention whore,â You scoff.
âI think thatâs the nicest thing youâve ever said to me,â He speaks in an exaggerated sad tone, accompanied by his pretending to cry. He turns his head to face you, sunglasses attempting to hide the goofiness peeking through.
âStill, I mean this is all a lot. Iâm not exactly important enough to warrant 700,000 new followers.â You attempt to redirect the conversation.
As soon as the remark leaves your mouth, Soonyoung takes his sunglasses off. He looks at you with a confused glance, as if your self-deprecation was a personal attack on him.
âWhat are you talking about? Youâre a princess and a genuinely nice one at that. Thatâs pretty hard to come by these days,â He compliments you. It pulls at your heartstrings very slightly, enough to absentmindedly check for a blush on your cheeks before snapping out of it.
âYou wouldnât know, you donât see anything past the title before you sleep with these girls,â You attempt to defuse the response again, but heâs prepared.
âFirst of all, those days are behind me. Iâm a proper engaged man now,â His thumb grazes your engagement ring and it sends a chill down your spine.
âAnd second, that statement is funny coming from someone whoâs marrying me for financial stability,â He pokes your shoulder and you move to cover it.
âCorrection, my countryâs financial stability. Youâll have to get used to living here once weâre married,â You clarify.
âWho said weâre living in Maritria?â He argues instantly. You let out a sigh and try to understand the perspective heâs going to bring up.
âSoonyoung, wouldnât it be smart to show how much the countryâs condition would improve with you here?â
âYes, but imagine being in Arinorin. The optics of giving you away to the country that saved yours seem pretty positive to me.â He suggests. While idealistic, the perspective is shortsighted. He didnât necessarily have a shining future back in his home country considering his reputation and lack of communication with his parents.
âEven though youâll never be king?â You didnât mean for the question to sound so mean, but itâs true.
He was not the countryâs future king, not unless there were dire circumstances that would force him into the position.
He scoffs. âWay to rub it in.â He looks into the distance, not acknowledging your glance anymore.
âIâm just saying. At least here, youâll have the chance to have more of the publicâs attention. Thereâs nothing to fight over, itâs just me,â You add sympathetically.
Thereâs a lingering silence that you donât want to fill for the moment. You can tell heâs mulling over your words by the way heâs looking down at his hands, playing with his sunglasses idly.
âYou know, you donât have to stay there. Not to be that person, but if the idea of staying makes you feel worse, then whatâs the point?â You soften your tone in an attempt to bring him back.
âYou donât know what itâs like,â He shakes his head resolutely. You feel your window of opportunity to try and comfort him closing rapidly.
âOk, youâre right, but Iâve kept up with the news. I know a bit about how my future in-laws have treated you. Youâll be okay here,â You place a hand on his shoulder.
âI think theyâve wanted me to leave for a while, honestly. Iâd go somewhere where they donât have to think about me anymore.â He scratches the back of his neck before focusing on a small tidepool that sat directly below the both of you.
His statement is enough to now squeeze his shoulder, gently rubbing it to show your support.
âIâm sorry.â You offer quietly.
âItâs not your fault. I donât think being a problem child fits me very well anymore.â
âYou can reinvent yourself here if that sounds alright with you?â You offer and he laughs quietly.
He smirks. âIâll think about it,â His slightly hopeful tone makes you feel at ease.
Any true affection toward him still feels too foreign, but verbal reassurance is a step youâre willing to take if it means your shared future is relatively peaceful.
â
The trips back and forth to each otherâs countries were becoming a blur of wedding planning, being present at each otherâs public engagements, and trying to get to know each other. It was becoming such a tedious process that any opportunity to rest was taken without hesitation.
The big plan for the current trip to Arinorin was to have a joint dinner with both of your immediate families.
You waited endlessly, but Soonyoung never showed up for dinner. It was embarrassing trying to subtly figure out where he was by going to the bathroom and frantically texting him. When that didnât work, calls went unanswered until you were forced to give up and return to the table in defeat. He wasnât answering and you were left to deal with two confused families on your own, attempting to answer questions that you had no answers to. Dinner eventually proceeded with an unyielding amount of attention on you, but thankfully, the rest of his family seemed to accept you.
Yet, it was ultimately embarrassing to attempt to cover his tracks and defend his actions throughout the night.
Thus, your post-dinner plans were to relax in your room and attempt to forget how wild the night had been. A knock on the door interrupted those plans almost immediately.
You open the door to see one of the guards that have been assigned to you since the arranged marriage proceedings had begun.
âSorry to bother you, princess. Iâve just received word of a disturbance with the prince downstairs that needs your attention.â His tone was especially solemn, so you didnât want to leave him waiting for long.
âAlright, Iâll be ready in a minute.â You nod at him and thank your lucky stars that youâve already changed into more comfortable clothing.
With his assistance, you were soon traveling through the endless halls of the castle to find your fiancĂ©. It wasnât long before he came into view, sitting on a bench with his legs tucked up to his chest, arms wrapped around the front with his hands clasped tight. He was clearly drunk, sighing to himself before looking up.
âY/N! Hi!â He exclaims, waving at you wildly.
âFucking hell,â You exhale under your breath. Youâre extremely grateful that he wasnât out wandering the streets, clearly under careful watch by his guards.
âCan you give us a moment?â You look around at the surrounding guards. They nod curtly and dismiss themselves, retreating to a nearby room where they could still intervene quickly if needed.
You turn your attention back to him once the door closes. âWhere were you?â
âI was out with Seungkwannie and, um, Seokmin. It was so much fun,â He laughed brightly, eyes almost disappearing from his smile.
âWe were supposed to have dinner with our families. Remember?â You hold onto your curt tone.
He shakes his head immediately. âThey didnât wanna see me, they donât care about me.â
You were starting to lose your patience. While you understood his hesitation to face his family, it wasnât an excuse to leave you to navigate so many different dynamics on your own. This was supposed to show your families all of the efforts that had been made thus far, and there were plenty of efforts that were beginning to show naturally.
He had become more affectionate in public, it was less uncomfortable to smile at him and speak with each other kindly. It wasnât real, obviously not, but unsuspecting eyes wouldnât have known any better.
You were almost visibly in love.
âHow about how I feel, Soonyoung? I had to deal with everyone alone, deal with everything by myself. That was so hard for me, but you just ignored it and got drunk.â Your voice was tight, barely allowing yourself to feel anything besides anger.
âIâm sorry,â He sighs before running through his hair. Heâs affected by it, as his posture starts to wilt like a dying plant.
âYou should be. That hurt my feelings a lot,â You felt the intended venom of your words dissipate on your tongue until nothing was left.
What was the point in yelling when he wouldnât remember any of it anyways?
Honestly, you were disappointed in him. You had earnestly tried to connect with him, and it finally felt like he was trying to do the same thing. Yet, he let you down. You didnât ask for much of him and adjusted your expectations for him at every step of the way, but he couldnât do it.
He couldnât be better for you.
âWas being selfish,â His pout seems to get deeper somehow.
âYeah, you were,â You whisper. You finally take a seat next to him on the bench, taking a deep breath. The silence between the two of you almost felt labored, as if the air held all of the emotions you were both feeling at once.
You shouldnât be babysitting your fiancĂ© like this, that much was true. If he couldnât even attend a family dinner, what did that mean for the marriage?
âYou donât have to worry about the wedding. Iâll take care of everything,â You mutter quietly.
âWhat?â He sits up in surprise.
âI canât trust you, Soonyoung. You donât care about this and you clearly donât care about me, so why would I let you plan any part of this?â
âI can try, just let me try,â He pleads quietly. You can feel the desperation in his tone, but you canât budge.
âIâve let you try and this is what happens. I donât know if this is how you picture our marriage, but if this is it then consider us strangers. I canât do this, not like this.â You canât look at him as you stand up.
Your body goes into autopilot as you knock on the door where the guards are stationed, letting them out so you can both separate for the night. You gently request for him to be taken home before starting the journey back to your room, wiping away tears that welled up in your eyes without a second thought.
You hear him calling your name, but what point is there in turning around? You didnât have the energy for drunk pleas and broken promises anymore.
If you couldnât stop everything and everyone from falling apart, you could at least try to protect yourself from the wreckage.
â
For the first time, Soonyoung hadnât been able to stop thinking about you.
It never felt good to be ignored by anyone, but getting ignored by you? It had to be a new kind of pain.
Despite his unbothered facade, he didnât mind your company at all. He quite enjoyed your little quirks, small things that other people probably wouldnât notice.
In the chaos of your intertwined schedules, there were moments where heâd just look at you to take in your features for himself, and not anyone else.
He loved seeing how peaceful you looked while you slept during flights or the way your cheeks lifted when you smiled. Since he couldnât have you to himself often, he could hold solace in the smaller moments.
Admittedly, he had been in love with you for a while now, and he could pinpoint the exact moment when he realized it.
He mentioned to you offhandedly that heâd lost a beloved stuffed tiger toy as a kid, but heâd accepted the loss and attempted to move on. He didnât think youâd remember the anecdote, much less do anything about it.
Yet, you handed him a silver gift bag while on a flight with him.
When he unwrapped the tissue paper to the sight of the exact make of the tiger he had, his heart momentarily stilled in awe.
âI found the original manufacturer and they still make them. The certain model you had is a collectorâs item now, so it took a little while to find but it wasnât impossible.â You explained everything calmly, your hand propped your head up on the armrest of your seat. You lazily smiled at him as he admired it in his hands.
âThis is very kind of you, thank you,â He couldnât help the grin that spread across his face.
His parents hadnât thought of trying to replace it for him after all these years, and he surely didnât expect it from you. The gesture is just so romantic, even if you just wanted to write it off as simply a nice thing to do.
He didnât cry until he was alone after the dayâs activities were finished, realizing just how important it was to him. You were so nice, much nicer than he deserved from his future wife given his standoffish behavior.
There was no reason why he couldnât confess his true feelings to you at this point. The wedding was fast approaching, sooner than heâd like to admit.
Details about the ceremony were quickly ironed out between your shared staff before he could think twice about asking, and you held to your word that he wasnât allowed to get involved in wedding planning.
He didnât remember much from the night you found him drunk, but it was clear that wedding planning was off-limits and you were extremely wary of being alone with him. Thus, he had to make his apology meaningful, and he couldnât wait until after the wedding. He was determined to mend the relationship before you walked down the aisle.
He started by sending you various bouquets, all carefully chosen by him.
That was a kind gesture, right?
He thought so until he saw you throwing one of the bouquets into a dumpster from afar.
All of his apologetic texts to you were swiftly ignored as well, forcing him to switch gears completely. It was clear that you were subtly hinting at an in-person apology, which was daunting but not impossible for him to do.
He hadnât been back to your apartment since the night of the Youth Summit Ball, a major oversight on his part. Yet, he figured there was no better time than the present to start taking things more seriously.
He held the bouquet of white and red carnations tightly in his hand, fingers playing gently with the paper wrapping as he sat in his car.
He was optimistic that the rain would hold out until he was hopefully let into your apartment. Yet, he ignored the raindrops periodically hitting his raincoat as he walked up the stairs to your brownstone.
The moment he knocked on the door, it was as if the universe decided to fuck him over. The occasional raindrops turned into a full downpour, and he scrambled to figure out what to do with himself. There wasnât any awning to hide under, so he attempted to conceal the flowers from the rain, unzipping his jacket enough to sit the damp bouquet on his chest before zipping it up again.
It felt like a lifetime before you opened the door, and the sight of you rendered him speechless.
This was the first time in so long that he was facing his fear of resolving the neverending conflicts in his life.
âHi.â He smiles despite your unreadable expression.
âHi,â You were confused, rightfully so. After passive-aggressively sending indirect apologies, he decided to skip everything else and just show up.
âAre you busy?â
âNo, but I donât think I have a choice,â You move to the side so that he can enter your apartment. He takes the cue and makes himself comfortable in the living room.
âThese are for you.â He hands the flowers to you, and the hesitancy is clear on your face.
âYou arenât giving up on the flowers, are you?â You ask with a judgmental tone. He doesnât feel completely deterred when you place them on the dining table instead of throwing them out.
âWell, these are your favorite.â
âThis doesnât bail you out, you know.â You give him a knowing look.
He sighs, steadying his breath before speaking. âI know, and you deserve an apology for everything.â When he notices that you're focusing intently on his words, he feels confident about continuing.
âI know that Iâve made you feel isolated, and Iâm truly sorry for that. I donât want you to feel like youâre alone in this, and I want to make this marriage work. You deserve to marry someone whoâs willing to admit their mistakes and grow with you. Iâm ready to be that person if you want me.â By the time he finishes, he knows that he was completely honest with you. Heâs wanted to be upfront with you for so long, but it wouldnât have been worth it if he didnât express himself properly.
You let out a contemplative sigh. He could tell that you didnât want to reject him, itâs as if your face was processing his statement just as swiftly as your brain.
âAs much as I appreciate this, I donât want to be in a loveless marriage.â You said.
He swallows lightly, but heâs still understanding of your perspective. He knew that he had to lay everything out for you before it was too late.
âWho said it was loveless?â He says.
âWhat?â
The revelation seems to catch you off guard, but it's not surprising to him. Soonyoung is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, and this kind of confession feels completely out of his emotional range.
âI love you, and I should've told you sooner. I regret not proving that you could trust me, and you have every right to not have any faith in me.â He walks toward you, internally pleading that the lack of distance will help you change your mind.
âI do have the right,â You mutter under your breath with a chuckle. He lifts your chin slightly with his finger, forcing your eyes to meet his again.
âI will prove to you every day for the rest of my life that I love you.â His eyes are completely sincere, showing that heâs willing to provide the romance that youâve been grasping for. He can tell that you canât let him in this easily, he has to earn you completely.
âEvery day?â You question him.
âEvery single day,â He reiterates. He means it too, his mind was already thinking of dozens of ways that he could start making it up to you.
âThatâs pretty tempting, honestly.â You tilt your head in curiosity.
âAnything holding you back?â
âI donât think so. You just canât keep coming into my apartment soaking wet anymore,â You scrunch your nose at his appearance and gently tousle his hair, earning a giggle from him.
âThat wasnât planned. It was pretty romantic though, right?â He canât fight the smile that spreads across his face as he asks.
âA little bit. I forgive you, by the way,â You admit.
He exhales and runs a hand through his hair with shaky confidence. He couldnât be certain of your decision, so the relief he feels at your words is palpable.
âDoes that mean I get to see all the spreadsheets about the wedding now?â He knew he was testing his luck by asking, especially because the process had been under lock and key even before restricting his access to wedding-related documents.
âYeah, itâll take some stress off my back. Itâs giving me headaches just thinking about everything coming together,â You rub your forehead and close your eyes for a moment before looking back at him.
âYouâve been stressed like this and you havenât told me?â He frowns.
âI was mad at you, so all my other feelings just kept building up. Iâm sorry,â You shake your head, immediately covering your face with your hands. He pries them off just as quickly, pressing a kiss to the palm of your hand.
âItâs okay, love. I am more than willing to help you, I promise,â He nods eagerly with a grin.
âOkay. I like that name, you know,â You finally crack a smile and his own smile widens.
âFigured you would.â Heâs leaned closer to your face, but thereâs enough space to move away in case you reject him. âCan I kiss you?â He asks gently.
âPlease,â You whisper.
Itâs all he needs to complete the distance between your lips and the feeling of you is almost overwhelmingly beautiful. Heâs so lucky at this moment, feeling your hands push his head deeper into the kiss. He was too cautious last time, but now heâll never take another kiss of yours for granted, not when it feels this good.
He would do anything to make sure you felt loved and cared for, no matter how long it took to earn your full trust.
â
âI just need a moment alone, if thatâs alright?â The question comes out a bit shakier than you imagined, but you canât seem to quiet your nerves. Your wedding day has already taken you on an emotional rollercoaster despite not going down the aisle yet.
As you view yourself in the gown that you meticulously picked out along with the detailed hair and makeup that took hours to complete, nothing looks out of place.
Yet, your heart feels unanchored.
Your relationship with Soonyoung was getting better every day, but it seems like it was all going a little too well. Even though your relationship was transforming from a state of emergency into a promising romance, it was all catching up to you at the moment. Your mutual efforts to improve your relationship had been fruitful, giving you both the confidence to get married without feeling insecure.
You wouldnât regret it, right? You needed to be certain that you wouldnât.
âOf course, Princess.â Your head staff member agrees without question before exiting the room along with a few team members who were assisting you for the past few hours.
Your brain can only think of him. The tradition of spending the night before the wedding apart from each other felt more like torture than anything else, as youâve come to appreciate his comforting presence next to you. In the last few weeks leading up to the wedding, heâs made such a genuine effort to intertwine your lives together that spending time apart felt futile.
A knock on the door breaks you out of your trance. Before you can ask whoâs there, Soonyoungâs voice fills the silence.
âIs it a bad time?â His voice makes your heart flutter before you can even look at him.
âYou canât see me before the wedding, itâs bad luck,â You attempt to fight the smile on your face but you donât allow yourself to look at him.
âEven if my bride has cold feet?â He presses on, his footsteps quietly approaching you.
You turn to reveal yourself to him and his face lights up.
âTheyâre not cold, theyâre lukewarm,â You smile coyly at him. He grabs your hands and scans your body with wondrous eyes, his gaze seeming to land on every detail of the dress before meeting your eyes again.
âYou look so,â His voice trails off. Youâre sure that you can read his mind, heâs practically grinning from ear to ear. It makes you feel a bit shy, you can feel your cheeks heat up from his complimentary words.
âYouâre really inflating my ego here,â You shake your head gently, but the feeling of his hand grazing your cheek pulls your gaze to him. Despite your best efforts, itâs still hard to fight the inner voice that tells you that he doesnât mean it, that heâs only saying it because itâs something you want to hear.
Yet, his responses are just unflinchingly earnest that it makes you wonder why you ever felt that way in the first place.
âYou just look so stunning,â His voice begins to shake before he clears his throat, âI just canât believe that youâre mine.â
You were certain that youâd never seen that much sincerity in his eyes up until now, but it started to quiet the lingering fears that still sat in the pit of your stomach. He was absolutely smitten with you, to the point where his smile didnât go away while you were talking to him.
âYou canât cry yet, you have to save it for the cameras.â You chuckle in an effort to push away his tears, but his eyes were still glossy.
âI canât help it. Youâve worked really hard on all of this and itâs coming together so well,â He sighs with content. Honestly, you needed to hear that it was all worth it, especially from him. Although heâd been offering reassurance more often than not, the sentiment felt different knowing that you were minutes away from getting married.
âI wanna kiss you so badly, but I canât fuck up my makeup.â You pout. He instinctively places his hands on your shoulders, moving them up and down to make you feel grounded with his touch.
âWe can kiss, you know. There are no rules to any of this.â He attempts to get you out of your tradition-focused mindset with a low tone. You do want to indulge him though, considering that this was the first time you'd been alone with him all morning.
âJust go below the mouth.â You nod and he smirks, immediately placing his lips on your jaw to see how youâd react. It pulls a soft moan from your throat, and your reaction encourages him to go down your neck, leaving kisses wherever his lips can find skin. You started to let go of the responsibilities lingering over your head and focus on your fianceâs tongue leaving open-mouth kisses on your cleavage.
Heâs practically doing everything but undressing you and his eagerness makes it harder to pull away, but you have to.
âBabe,â You whisper.
âHmm?â
âLater,â You have to hold onto your resolve or else youâll give in, and you canât let your first time be in a dressing room.
âLater?â His eyes perk up like an excited puppy. The implication of the consummation of your marriage feels daring, it will serve as the reward after dealing with the decadent fanfare of the day.
âYes, later. I promise.â You nod and he somehow looks even happier than before he walked in. He focuses on your lips but leaves a kiss on your cheek instead.
âIâll see you out there, okay?â He presses one last kiss to your palm before heading towards the door.
âOkay,â You wave him off and watch him disappear with a smile on your face.
Itâs clear that you donât have anything to worry about.
â
âYouâre sure that you donât wanna come in with me?â Soonyoung calls from the pool.
âYeah,â You nod with a hand placed above your eyes, acting as a sun visor since you couldnât find a hat to put on.
You were two days into your honeymoon, tucked away at a small island resort that mostly isolated you from the outside world.
The wedding had thankfully gone far better than you could have imagined. He stopped you multiple times throughout the reception to tell you how beautiful it was, how happy he was to be in the moment with you, and how well you planned it all. It was a day that felt sun-soaked, enveloped in a love that was starting to soften and lose the sharp edges that had restrained it before.
Despite all of the kind attention from family and friends throughout the day, it was evened out with the constant presence of staff and castle officials that made it all a bit overwhelming.
Thankfully, the honeymoon began the next day and youâd have to force all responsibilities out of your head for the next week.
âYouâre thinking about something, probably too many things,â He assumes correctly.
You scoff and turn away for a moment before facing him again. âYou canât be this good at analyzing me, weâve only been married for less than a week.â
He laughs before swimming closer to the edge of the pool to meet you. âThatâs my job, angel.â
âBut youâre right, I am thinking too much about you moving in and all the press stuff we have to do,â Youâre rubbing at your temples just thinking about how much effort itâs all going to take.
âHey, look at me.â He calls out softly. You reluctantly place your hands at your sides, trying to take in his words.
âYouâll have plenty of time to worry about this, but this is the only time youâll be on your honeymoon. Hopefully,â He shows his teeth and it succeeds in making you laugh. He smiles back at you before continuing.
âSo maybe we can swim together if youâd like?â He tries again, knowing youâll say yes. You take one last sigh and nod.
âYeah, just give me a second.â You take your coverup off to reveal a solid black bikini he hadnât seen yet. You discard the coverup on a nearby chair before turning to face him.
He eyes you for a moment before you clear your throat. âSlow down, loverboy, weâre supposed to be swimming!â
âJust admiring how beautiful my wife is, thatâs all,â He bites back a smile but ultimately lets it show. You walk down the pool stairs until youâre swimming next to him. He only stares at you for a second before pulling you in for a kiss.
Youâre caught off guard, letting out a small squeak when his tongue slides into your mouth but you give in to the feeling soon enough. You let your fingers card through the back of his hair, pushing yourself further into the kiss. You feel his hands wander across your ass and you let out a moan.
âJust wanted me in here so you could fuck me?â You whisper, finally pulling away from the kiss to catch your breath.
âYou caught me,â He whispers back and proceeds to kiss down your neck, not hesitating to leave marks that force moans out of your throat.
âFor fuckâs sake,â You sigh. You didnât need to have control right now, you didnât want it when he was making you feel this good just by kissing you. You thank your lucky stars that the vacation house is somewhat isolated because you canât pretend to hold back the noises youâre making.
He picks up on this and presses his erection against your thigh, causing you to hold your breath. âWhere do you want me, sweetheart?â He asks quietly. Your train of thought canât even start because heâs staring right at you, brushing his thumb against your lip.
âChairs,â You mutter. He bites his lip and turns to look at the unoccupied beach chairs lined up near the sliding glass door that leads back into the house.
âOkay,â He nods. He leads you back to the pool stairs before taking your hand and helping you out of the water. You both donât think about drying off before he sits you down onto the chair, pulling off your bikini bottom without a second thought. You watch him with spread legs, taking in the sight of his glistening chest and abs. He seemed just as eager as you, taking off his swim trunks in the blink of an eye. The sight of his cock makes your head spin, so you force yourself to make eye contact with him.
âAre you okay, baby?â He asks earnestly. He must not know how hot he is because youâre rendered speechless. His freshly dyed black hair is slightly spiky, and it doesnât help when he runs his hand through it. It all just goes to your clit, and youâre certain that the pressure will make you explode.
âYeah, Iâm good,â You force your mouth into a smile to replace the incredulous look on your face. He nods and settles into the space between your legs, quickly spreading hands across your thighs.
âHave I told you how pretty you look today?â His eyes are practically dripping with lust, but you want to let him know that the feeling is mutual.
âYeah, maybe for the 100th time today, but you look even prettier,â Your compliment comes out a bit shy, but it still makes his eyes light up.
âI donât think thatâs possible,â He lets his thumb graze your clit and you whimper. He lingers there for a few more moments before dragging two fingers down your entrance. He ponders for a moment before pushing inside, and the new sensation makes you cry out. The angled position of the chair makes his movements feel even more powerful, and his fingers gliding against your tight walls already have you in shambles.
âItâs not possible because youâre the prettiest person in the world, and I get all your cute noises to myself, right?â His question makes the coil in your stomach harder to ignore.
âYeah,â You moan. He leans in for a kiss, capturing your lips easily while thrusting his fingers even deeper. How does he know your body like this? Sure, youâve made out a few times but he's never touched you like this before.
Maybe itâs the anticipation thatâs causing him to show out like this, heâs trying to impress you because of how long youâve had to wait for this. You let your arms drape behind his neck for a moment before clutching onto his back.
You hear him moan from the scratches you leave on the expanse of his back, you savor the noises as they start to blend in with your moans.
âGonna cum,â You breathe into his ear. He can tell how tense you are around him, and your eyes are becoming frantic from the impending pleasure.
âJust relax baby, take a deep breath, and let go for me. I know you can do it,â His encouragement lets you cum immediately, arching your back off the chair with a soft grunt escaping your lips. Your orgasm washes over you all at once and his fingers only slow down a bit, allowing you to feel every single bit of pleasure that he could pull out of you.
You take a few deep breaths and focus on his eyes once again. You start to register his face again as he strokes your cheek. âAre you ok? Are you up for more?â He asks hesitantly.
âYeah, I just didnât think youâd get me like this so early, thatâs all.â You cover your eyes with your hands for a moment before looking at him again. He has you so shy that you can barely look at him. Itâs hard to admit to yourself that you havenât cum like that in a very long time, but if heâs making you feel like this so early on into the marriage, you donât think youâll ever be disappointed.
âWell, thatâs good. I just wanna take care of you,â He reassures you sweetly. His eyes are so full of love that it makes your heart pound, swallowing in anticipation.
He meant it when he said heâd take care of you, he had barely let you do anything for yourself since you arrived at the vacation house. It was so adorable that you didnât have the heart to stop him. It was nice to let him live up to his promise of showing his love for you instead of constantly feeling distrustful of his actions.
Of course, there would eventually be moments where youâd disagree or argue with each other, but it wouldnât be out of spite like before. Youâre lost in thought until he presses a kiss to your cheek.
âWhereâd you go, pretty?â He whispers, his face now a few inches away from yours. It somehow makes you even more flustered than before.
âJust thinking about how much I love you,â You admit with a smile. His eyes widen at the confession and you burst into a fit of giggles.
âYou love me?â He asks in surprise.
âI love you.â You state it confidently. You mean it too, and it feels so easy to express it to him. You knew you loved him since the wedding, he cried at the sight of you walking down the aisle and it helped you realize his sincerity. He seems to let the words settle into the air before giving you a response.
âI love you too. It feels good to say that,â He laughs at his own confession. With a mutual confession out in the open, the air somehow feels lighter.
âCan I show you how much I love you by fucking you properly?â He asks. You can only laugh and nod your head at how sweet it is.
âNot out here though. I need you in bed right now!â He exclaims, sweeping you up into a bridal style hold. You let out a scream before bursting into laughter, you can only let yourself get carried back into the house without protest.
----
âFuck, right there, please,â You whimper, eyes screwed shut. The feeling of his cock stuffed inside you was indescribably good, it was nearly enough to make you cry. Once he got you on the bed, he wasted no time filling you up and easily pulled moans out of your throat.
He pressed your legs up to your chest, making sure that he was completely inside of you. You quickly learned that your husband had incredible stamina, and you were definitely gonna cum again sooner rather than later.
âYouâre so good for me, my love. You donât know how many times Iâve thought of having you like this,â He whispers in your ear. The sound of his balls slapping against your skin brought something primal out of you, you just want to suck him inside of your walls even deeper. You were barely holding on, but he kept pushing you even closer to the edge.
He leaned down to leave marks in the crook of your neck, leaving a hand free to fondle your breast. It was as if he combined every possible move just to drive you insane and it was working.
âGonna cum for me, sweetheart?â His voice is laced with something even deeper than lust, it almost felt demonic the way he asked you.
âYes, please let me cum, please,â The words spilled out of your mouth, your voice was shaking along with your body. He was practically rocking you back and forth with the impact of his cock, hitting that particular spot deeper every time.
âGo on, then. Cum for daddy,â He grants you permission. The nickname makes you flood his cock, screaming again as your orgasm takes over you. He pulls out in time for you to squirt on his cock, leaving you even more surprised than before.
âHoly shit,â You whimper. He looks so pleased with himself, but also shocked that he was able to push you that far.
He lets you both recover for a few minutes, but you know he hasnât cum yet. âIâm kinda close, baby, is it alright if I-?â He asks, but you donât let him finish.
âOf course. I already miss your cock, to be honest,â You let yourself smile and his eyes are already blown wide by your response.
âYouâre insane, you know that?â
âYou made me like this,â You hit his arm playfully. He slides his cock into you again slowly and he watches your mouth fall open slightly at the sensation.
âI did,â He smirks at you, relishing the sight of how fucked out you look just from him staying still.
He picks up the pace, trying to focus on getting himself there. It didnât seem like itâd take much just from how intensely he looked at you.
âGonna let me cum inside you, baby? Should I get you pregnant like this?â His questions felt sinful in your ears, but you were too gone to care. You felt pressure building just from that, and the thought of him breeding you felt exciting.
âYes, please, I want it,â You whine. He felt so deep that you could feel it from your head to your toes. Every single part of you felt overwhelmed by his cock and his relentless pace.
âGood girl, daddy wants to fuck you like this all the time,â He moves to kiss you sloppily, but it still feels heavenly to have him in your mouth. It wasnât much longer before you felt his body tense beneath you.
âAre you close?â You ask breathily.
âYeah,â He grunts. He grabs your hips and fucks into you even harder than you remember, the pain radiating from your thighs forces a tear out of your eye but you know itâs helping. He doesnât warn you before he cums, and the sudden warmth inside of you makes you moan louder than you expect. He finally falls beside you and lets you both recover for a few minutes in silence. You could easily fall asleep like this, both of you laying haphazardly under the covers while his breathing steadies your own.
âY/N?â He calls your name and it startles you. You struggle to keep your eyes open at the sound of his voice.
âOh no, I scared you,â His voice is much quieter than before, lulling you back into a state of calmness.
âNo, Iâm okay, I promise,â You turn to face him, rubbing your eyes gently.
âOk good. Weâve gotta clean up now, alright?â He softens the blow of the question by kissing your forehead. It still feels foreign to let him take care of you, but when you see how gentle he is, you donât feel the urge to take control.
Itâs enough to watch him go through your suitcase, observing how his eyebrows furrow while trying to decide what shirt you might want to wear.
You decided that he didnât have to prove anything else to you, ultimately, you could see how pure his heart was, and it would be doing both of you a disservice to let assumptions of character control the course of your relationship.
Youâre attentive enough to follow his cues while heâs dressing you or helping you up to the bathroom, but your mind is consumed by him.
âDoing okay, love?â His question pulls your head toward him. You adjust your posture in bed as he approaches you, climbing into the bed beside you.
âBetter now that youâre back,â You hum lowly, leaning your head onto his shoulder. You take a deep breath, taking in the feeling of his skin against yours.
His body vibrates as he chuckles. âIâm glad youâre alright. I was thinking about something while we were in the bathroom,â He leans into your touch slightly, enough to make your eyes flutter shut.
âWhatâs up?â You accept his inquiry.
âI think we should take the kids here one day when theyâre old enough,â He explains it as if itâs fate, and you canât help but smile at the thought of him being certain that your shared future is meant to expand in so many different ways. You canât picture yourself being pregnant for a long while, but the idea of building a family with him feels right to think about.
âWeâve fucked once and youâre thinking about our kids,â You tease him in a lighthearted tone, but you hear his nervous laughter.
âItâs just a thought,â He waves his hand gently.
âItâs a very nice thought, youâre really sweet,â You finally raise your head to look at him. You let your hand caress his cheek before kissing him gently. He accepts you immediately, and you let yourself linger on his lips for a few moments before pulling away to look at him.
He searches your eyes, focused on figuring out what youâre meant to tell him. You canât think of anything profound to tell him, any extravagant sentimentalities you mightâve conjured up donât make their way out onto your lips.
âI love you,â You whisper. Your feelings are buried too deep to let them all out now, but itâs enough to tell him this. You feel the pressure in your chest lessen the moment he smiles back at you.
âI love you so much,â He mumbles the words against your lips before kissing you, love seemed to radiate from his lips the way he was holding you against him. The day unfolded into the evening, time passing languidly as you were enamored with each other.
As you fell asleep with him holding onto your waist, you realized that sweetness had made its way into your life before your very eyes. The limitless potential between the two of you no longer strikes fear into your heart, but instead sustains you in new ways.
There would be time to flesh out the dynamics of your relationship, determining how youâd show up for each other in loud and unspoken ways, but the present feeling of safety that sat in your chest was enough.
Neither of you was perfect, but the act of showing up and being willing to grow with each other was enough.
You are both trying, and that is more than enough.

I love you all immensely. Take care. đ
The tunnel lights up ahead of you, revealing the cubic rock walls as you plant torches in your stead. The eerie soundtrack of night time and the ominous groan of zombies looming somewhere in the cave have you uptight. Silently, you press on, digging and mining mindlessly, fingers mashing the buttons on your controller.Â
âHey, where are you?â Jacobâs voice startles you.Â
You nearly forgot youâre playing co-op. You sniff and shake your head, cursing aloud as your shock has you succumbing to the arrow of a sneaky skeleton. You sigh as your possessions scatter and you spawn back in your bed.Â
âBack home,â you say glumly, âjust ate it.âÂ
âAh, damn,â his deep voice rolls in your noise-cancelling headset, âsorry, hope that wasnât me.âÂ
âNo, I wasnât paying attention,â you hum and sigh. Â
âAh,â he accepts and lets silence linger before he clicks his tongue, âwhatâs going on? Everything alright?âÂ
âYeah, yeah,â you put the controller down, your avatar sitting on the geometric bed, âI just...â you stretch your neck and massage your scalp around the thick band of the headset, âgot a lot on my mind.âÂ
âRight. I thought you were all done exams,â he says.Â
âI am, but... packing. Going home. I called my old boss and turns out Iâm not gonna have a job this summer. Gotta start over,â you yawn and rub your eyes, âwhat about you? Final exam tomorrow?âÂ
âUh... yeah,â he hesitates as if he forgot. You do wonder why he isnât cramming right now. You could never play minecraft all night the day before a final. âEasy stuff. Iâm not worried.âÂ
You scoff. You wish you could say the same. All youâve done is worry those last two weeks. Exams, getting home, getting a job. Your grandmother wonât very happy to find out youâll be slumming it for a while. At least you tucked away some money through the semester.Â
âHey, if you need a few bucks...â Jacob offers.Â
âWhat? Are you crazy? No way,â you exclaim, âreally, no, I couldnât. Iâll be fine. I just... I hate looking for jobs. You know how it is. Friggin awkward.âÂ
âItâs not a big deal. My dad sent me my birthday money so...âÂ
âUh uh,â you deny him again, âthatâs way too much. I couldnât-- we havenât even met.âÂ
âMm, yeah, about that,â he exhales into his microphone, âI, uh, got an extra ticket to this Con. I figured out thatâs it like the midway point between us so...âÂ
âA con? Oh, wow--âÂ
âYeah, but I get that it would be expensive so maybe I could pay for your trip?âÂ
âJacob,â you wiggle the controller restlessly, âI can't accept that. Itâs so nice but... itâs a lot.âÂ
âI wouldnât offer it was too much,â his voice is soft, meek, and defeated. You feel bad but you would feel worse taking advantage of his kindness. âWeâve been talking all year. I just figured it would be a good chance to meet up. It would be in public and something we both like so...âÂ
You scratch your neck as it speckles with heat. You donât know whatâs more insulting; yes or no.Â
âCan I think about it?â You ask thinly.Â
The line is quiet. You look at the screen and it goes dim from your idling. You hit the analog stick and fix your headphones.Â
âJacob?â You murmur.Â
âSure, think about it,â he says, his voice raspy and rocky. Itâs strange. Youâve seen him in pictures and his voice doesnât really match his appearance. He sounds a lot older than he looks. âItâs next month so lots of time.âÂ
âIâm sorry,â you cringe. âI just wouldnât want to waste your money.âÂ
âTrust me, it wouldnât be a waste,â he insists, âthis last year has sucked. So much. You got me through it all.â His microphone scuffs, âstudying, exams, all that stuff. Itâs tough making new friends. Seems like everyone here knows each other from high school.âÂ
âYeah, totally,â you agree. Â
Youâre not exactly the most popular person. You have people you know in each class but not too many friends you hang out with outside the lecture hall or library. So far, not too many people want to spend hours mining digital gold or racing cartoon characters around a rainbow track.Â
âWell, you should probably get some sleep,â you yawn, âyou got your big exam and... I gotta keep packing. Gotta catch the greyhound tomorrow night.âÂ
âSure, uh, yeah, right,â his disappointment is potent, âhey, will you text me when you get home? Just so I know you made it.â He snorts, âgod, I sound like my dad right now.âÂ
âOh, of course,â you chirp back, âIâll try to remember. Might be late.âÂ
âThatâs fine. Just as long as you let me know.âÂ
âDonât worry about me,â you assure him, ânot âtil I have to face my grandma. Ha.âÂ
âYeah, good luck with that,â he says, âwell... er...âÂ
âGood night,â you finish for him, âlet me know how the exam goes too.âÂ
âWill do,â his timbre gets even lower, ânight.âÂ
You sign off and shut down the console. Another yawn flows through you and waters in your eyes. You should sleep, you got a long day waiting for you, but you know it wonât be easy. Not with so much on your mind, not least of all, Jacobâs invitation.Â
đź
You text Jacob as you get on the bus, to make sure he doesnât worry. Itâs so sweet that he does, even some of your girlfriends donât bother that much. Not that you mind the âhey, bitchâ Janet sends you every now and again to make sure youâre still alive.Â
You fall asleep on the bus. Youâve never been one to sleep while travelling but youâre exhausted from a night of anxious tossing and turning. After spending all day packing up the last of your things and scouring your dorm room, youâre beat to hell.Â
Itâs midnight as you get to your grandmotherâs house. Sheâs up reading another Stephen King classic in her rocking chair. Sheâs always been a night owl and a voracious book hound. She grumbles at you but doesnât bother to ask how your trip was.Â
âHey, grandma,â you hike up your bag and smile. Â
She growls again, eyes not leaving the page. You should know better by now not to interrupt her. You shoulder on and head down to the spare room where you spent most of your high-school career. You shut the door gently as the old hardwood floors creak with your weight and you drop your bag on the squeaky bed.Â
You fish out your phone and plug it in as the battery flashes red with only two percent left. You leave it on the night table and stretch out, not bothering to change out of your hoodie and jeans. Itâs not long before you descend back into the same dreams that marked your journey home.Â
You wake up to buzzing. Your phone shakes the nightstand, rattling it against the bed frame. You groan and roll onto your side, reaching blindly for offending object. You hit the side button to dismiss the call. Â
You blink away the bleariness and focus on the screen. Along with the missed call are several text messages. You squint as you expand the notifications. Jacob! You forgot to message.Â
âHey, you home?âÂ
âChecking in. Must be busy getting settled in. Just let me know when youâre safe.âÂ
âNot meaning to be weird but everything okay?âÂ
âPlease answer me. Iâm worried.âÂ
You drag your thumb around the keyboard, letting it predict your words; âsorry! I was so tired. Home now and safe đ'Â
Three dots pop up then swoop away. You frown as the same thing happens several times before a response appears.Â
âWas really worried. Thanks for finally answering. Been up all night.âÂ
Youâre stunned by the terse response. Yeah, you forgot to answer but he doesnât need to worry that much. You frown and shift onto your side.Â
âSrry again. Tired. Talk in morning. Night.âÂ
You turn your phone on silent and plug it back into the cord. You do feel bad but youâre too exhausted to let it keep you up. Besides, you need your sleep. You have lots of job hunting to do in the morning. Not to mention, your grandmother to face.Â
đź
You let Jacob cool down after your return home. Rather, he doesnât text and youâre too distracted to do the same. As much as youâd like to sit around and game, your grandmother was as disappointed as you expected with your employment status, even when you gave her the money you had left in your emergency fund.Â
After a week, you finally get a bite. Itâs nothing special. Thereâs a seasonal ice cream shop in a booth shaped like a vanilla cone that needs a cashier on weeknights. Itâs less than full time hours but itâs better than nothing. It will be strange working with high school juniors but you canât afford to be picky.Â
âGame tonight?â The text interrupts your first shift. You donât have a chance to answer as a family approaches the window to order.Â
You get them the soft serve and take their payment, bidding them a good evening with their vanilla points already drooping in the summer heat. You glance around at the mostly empty picnic tables. Soccer practice will end soon and youâll be overloaded with eight-year-olds.Â
âSrry. New job. 1st shift. Maybe tmrw.âÂ
âNew job? Congrats. Why didnât you tell me?âÂ
You sigh. Â
âTime got ahead of me.âÂ
âSame. Catch up tomorrow then. Minecraft?âÂ
âSure. Tmrw.âÂ
You slip your phone away. A mother and daughter approach and ask for a sundae and a banana split. As much as you love ice cream, working with it hasnât tested your cravings very much. In fact, you might be falling out of love with it. The smell of vanilla and overly sweetened strawberries is kind of gross when itâs all you breathe.Â
As you watch the happy customers walk away, you smile. Maybe it will be good to get some mining done. It will take your mind off of everything else. Hell, it might even make you feel like youâre doing something useful.Â
đź
âShit, oh, sorry,â Jacob corrects himself. You always think it's kind of funny how he doesnât like to swear. âMy diamond armor.âÂ
âOh no,â you utter, âwhere are you? Iâll grab your stuff.âÂ
He gives his coordinates and you turn around, leaping over the green blocks to make your way there. Despite your reticence at the beginning, youâre feeling better about the session. He wasnât as tense as he seemed in his texts.Â
âSo, uh, did you think about the con?â Jacob asks.Â
âThe con? I almost forgot. When is it?âÂ
He gives the dates and you hum. Your chest flutters at the thought still. Youâre not stupid. Meeting people IRL is not like online, no matter how many hours youâve mined together. As much as you enjoy chatting with Jacob, you donât know about meeting up.Â
âI get it if you canât get the time off but my offer still stands to cover the trip. If you wanna stay the night, Iâll even get an airBnB.âÂ
âOh, wow, thatâs a lot. Iâm working now. I could put in,â you offer. Â
âIs that a yes?â He asks hopefully.Â
âI donât know... I mean, Iâll have to look into it,â you say evasively. âTalk to my boss and grandma and all that.âÂ
âRight, right,â he tries to sound unbothered, âmakes sense. Of course, no pressure. How about I send you the ticket either way? Havenât got anyone else to bite.âÂ
âOh, well, hold off, I wouldnât want to take it and not use it,â you collect his weapons and armor from the ground in the game.Â
Itâs silent as you focus on getting every little thing.Â
âSorry, did I freak you out?â He asks, âIâm really not trying to pressure you, just got excited thinking about it.âÂ
âI know, Jacob, itâs not that, itâs just... a lot.âÂ
âTotally get it,â he intones, âlet me know whenever you got an answer. Uh, where are you? Iâm tryna find you.âÂ
âJust stay there, I'll come back to the house,â you assure him, happy to focus on the game instead.Â
Still, you canât entirely lose yourself in it. Youâre sure heâs a nice guy. From pictures, heâs less than scary, and heâs never been anything but friendly. Itâs not like the other dudes you meet online who jump to asking about your bra size and all that. It just isnât smart.Â
Well, maybe if you donât show up alone. You know what con heâs talking about and Kara from Econ lives near there. You could probably convince her to meet up. Hm, that might work.Â
Just like you told him, youâll have to think about it.Â

"Hey to all my lovely fans, I'm very happy to announce I'm partnering with the awesome folks at Fantasy Labs who offered me a very generous sponsorship to test some of their products! Fantasy Labs are the number one manufacturer of luxury bdsm and automated sex devices. Several of the devices are designed for girls who are super into hardcore bondage and other extreme kinks, so much so that they're designed for girls who choose to become quadruple amputees for their partners or parents. Fantasy Labs has offered to amputate my arms and legs free of charge this afternoon, so look forward to clips of my limbs getting removed as part of the sponsorship deal! I know it's going to be a bit jarring going from a channel all about cute bikini try-on hauls to watching me lose my arms and legs and review all these extreme sex devices.....
I'm sure it won't be everyone's cup of tea and I know I used to say my channel was no-nudity but the partnership I signed stipulates that I have to do all of my segments entirely naked, even the surgery, which will be done out here in the sun on this lovely day. I'll be numbed and kept awake so I can react and watch my limbs get removed one by one! Then I'll be tasked with reviewing dozens of hardcore sex machines designed for quad amputee girls, strapped in, and I guess they'll film as my holes get pounded, a lot of them fuck your pussy, ass, and throat at once! I'll have to endure hours and hours of torment in these machines, clips of which will appear in my sponsored segments for the next year at least! I guess I'll make my content about fashion for quad amputee girls with no boobs now? Oops, spoiler I guess!
One of the devices I'm testing is an at-home debreaster. I guess if you date lots of busty girls or have a lot of daughters with really big boobs you want to chop off, I can see wanting something like that...... The thought of it kind of turns me on, which is crazy cause I never thought about having my breasts removed or reduced before! I love having big boobs, but Fantasy Labs told me in their email that my large bust size was the reason they reached out to me, saying I'd be perfect to test their debreaster. Apparently it has different modes, so you can chop off a girl's boobs, or crush them, incinerate them, shred them with saws, inject them with acid, even pull them off. I'll make a poll to determine which method you guys want to see the most, but most of my sponsored segments will be before my breasts get destroyed, because Fantasy Labs wants my big boobies to bounce and jiggle like crazy as their machines fuck my poor limbless body. I can't wait to get started and review their product line! There's certainly a lot to get through. I'd also like to tag my fellow fashion creators Lexi Gemini, Samantha Ray, Ashley Jensen, all of whom have gorgeous, huge natural breasts who I hope say yes to this sponsorship, too! I'd love to see you guys become quad amputees and watch your perfect titties get destroyed! Thank you again to Fantasy Labs for reaching out and choosing me!"

part 5/7
is it silly that this is my favorite in this series? i really enjoyed writing kaya and I wanna do it again at some point :')
[op comic masterpost]
[pg1] panel 2: Kaya: Oh! Dr. Law! I didn't expect to find you in our library.
panel 3: Law: K-Kaya-ya!
panel 4: Law: Uh. Ahem. Excuse me. I hope you don't mind me borrowing your books.
panel 5: Kaya: Oh of course not! I'm just shocked to hear we have books you don't! What are you studying?
panel 6: Law: UHHHHH
[pg2] panel 10: Kaya: Oh! Is someone on your crew pregnant? Ikkaku??
panel 11: Law (thinking): She doesn't know Ikkaku is trans. Does she not know that I am?? I just assumed Nose-ya would have mentioned it. But that makes sense. If Straw Hat didn't already know Nose-ya was trans it's not like I would have told him.
panel 12: Kaya: ...?
panel 13: Law (thinking): Fuck, I've been quiet too long. I can't throw Ikkaku under to bus. Just say something.
panel 14: Law: No. Kaya: Oh. Then why...? Law (thinking): Wait, shit
[pg3] panel 15: Law: My, uh...brother...'s...wife. Yeah, we're taking him back to Zou soon...because his wife is pregnant...and I...want...to help...?
panel 16: Kaya: Oh, how sweet! Congrats "Uncle Law" hehe. If you have any questions I could help with let me know!! I specialized in traumatic injury, but I did deliver a few babies in Syrup Village! On smaller islands like that you wear a lot of hats.
panel 17: Law: And you've...been pregnant. Kaya: Well, yeah, but I wasn't my own doctor! Could you imagine if I had tried to deliver the twins myself? Even a doctor needs a doctor, you know that.
panel 18: Law: ...right.
panel 19: Law: ...what...what was it like?
panel 20: Kaya: Oh, my pregnant patients were actually pretty fun! I suppose it makes sense that as a pirate ship doctor you wouldn't have had to know obstetrics. But it was always so lovely to hand a parent their--
[pg4] panel 21: Kaya: ...newborn...baby...?
panel 23: Kaya: ...I'm sorry, Dr. Law. If there's context I need you'll have to give it to me. I'm not good at guessing.
panel 24: Law: What do you mean, I just gave you context. Kaya: With all due respect, you're full crying. It's a new sight for me!
panel 25: Kaya: You can tell me what's going on! I'm told I'm a very good listener
panel 26: Law: ...You Straw Hats sure are a pain Kaya: Sorry, hehe
panel 28: Law: ...I...ahem...so number one, if you didn't know...I'm...I'm trans.
panel 29: Law: But not like your husband. He got the works from Ivankov-ya...I never felt the need to seek that out.
[pg5] panel 30: Kaya: ...I see
panel 31: Kaya: How far along are you? Law: ..12 weeks, give or take. Kaya: Well, I've provided obstetric care of all kinds. So whatever questions you're researching here...why don't you ask me instead of being your own doctor?
panel 32: Law: ...Same question. What was it like?
panel 33: Kaya: Being pregnant was a horror show!
panel 34: Law: A glowing review. Kaya: Oh, sorry! I can lie if you'd prefer!
panel 35: Kaya: I was just so sick my first trimester! Law (speaking over her): KAYA-YA I THOUGHT I WAS DYING FOR TWO WEEKS WHEN WILL IT STOP I CAN ONLY EAT RICE.
panel 36: Kaya: It's different for everyone. By the end it wasn't quite so bad for me, though. And I love my kids so much. They were such cute newborns!! So I was alright being uncomfortable for awhile. Because that's what we wanted, you know?
panel 37: Kaya (off screen): What do you and Luffy want, Dr. Law?
[pg6] panel 38: Law: ...We haven't decided yet. We're giving it to the end of the week. I'm trying to think about it rationally. But I just keep getting emotional any time I talk about it. It's strange.
panel 39: Kaya: An emotional decision and a bad decision aren't inherently synonymous, you know.
panel 40: Law: ...your bedside manner is impeccable, Dr. Kaya-ya. Kaya: Well, thank you! Next time let's meet in the infirmary, mine or yours.
panel 41: Kaya: I'll be your doctor through this, okay?
panel 42: Law: ...Okay...Thank you. Kaya: Of course!

Hey since your requests are open, could you maybe draw Hal? Doing anything, I don't really care what (only if you want)
day 96
YES i actually got 2 thinking about hal today thanks to this post (and my tags even passed peer review yippee thank u) ANYWAY. in addition to all of that. I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT he and aradia would be friends.
ok i wrote all this out and it got long and kinda rambly bc im tired so im putting it under a cut lmao HALRADIA FRIENDSHIP RANT IN THE READMORE
i think there would be.... maybe a little tension given that aradia eventually ended up in Her Own Flesh And Blood Body and hal would presumably not have that option?
but overall i think after the way her friends treated her as a robot, and the experience of going from experiencing life as a living breathing organic person to a bodiless entity to HAVING a body but that body not being the same as the one you remember.... idk! it's like EXTREMELY EXTREMELY SPECIFIC AND MORE THAN A LITTLE TRAUMATIC and they could share it with each other!! how fucking lovely is that.
not to mention they both kind of have a history with equius?? (assuming this is post arquiusprite in some way. i certainly have an extremely self-indulgent "everyone lives" au for this scenario where they're able to safely separate into their pre-sprite components and then hal and aradia become buds.)
REGARDLESS i think it would be interesting for hal (who has ostensibly nothing but positive shit to say about his connection to equius) and aradia (who has some truly fucked things to say about her experiences with equius) to Talk Through All That.
not 2 mention the parallels that can be drawn between dirk/hal's perception of their relationship with jake being this kind of... Manipulative Pining Weirdness, and aradia being on the other side of somebody else's Manipulative Pining Weirdness and sharing that perspective without even knowing about all of that dirkjake backstory OUGH im tellin u it is all a very complex and wonderful scenario to consider and like, im not even much of an alpha kid aficionado tbh. hal experts chime in on the comments i know youre out there and i wanna hear your takes.
#day 96#year 5#aradia megido#lil hal#homestuck#im not kidding btw HAL ENJOYERS WHAT IS THE VIBE HERE#also to clarify i think hal's confusion is largely due to the. Hey How Did You Get A Flesh Body factor more than anything#aradia's situation is uhhhhh Strange

Astarion making use of his skills to help Wyll
Shamelessly using this for an original post because I like the idea too much! Spoilers ahead, be warned!
So, as this post imagined (and thanks for @daedriclys for tagging me):
What if Astarion just went "ahem, I'd actually like to take a look at this legal document, thank you very much!" and went to help Wyll with his contract by Mizora.
I'd love to see how Astarion would take the opportunity to do something good for someone else because personal growth and redemption. Also this fucking devil can eat shit, Astarion's tired of people being forced into slavery.
So he fiercly interrupts and demands that Wyll will have at least a day to review the contract and when Mizora agrees through gritted teeth, the party gets to work: Astarion admits that he might be a little rusty and that he was shit at his job back then, but he's dead set on making this one thing right. (Also we know he knows history, so I feel it's not hard to imagine him being a bit scholarly and enjoying to learn things and figure stuff out - also he is smart!)
So he drags the whole party to where he knows is a Law library in Baldur's Gate and tries to find out everything on these kinds of contracts. He goes over the contract again and again trying to find ways out for Wyll while everyone else has turned into his research assistants (Gale is obviously his lead researcher because that man knows his way around a library). ("No, Karlach, it's 'pacta sunt servanda', spelled p-a-c-t-ugh, you know what, please let someone help you with looking for it!")
They spend the whole 24 hours to work out the best possible solution and when Mizora comes back her jaw is on the floor because not only did her plan not work, Astarion got Wyll some compensation and a severance-package worked out and might even sue. Also Astarion reads out every single term and condition and exactly decodes why it is shitty and wrong and why the wording could have used some work, all in his sassy little tone - while Mizora is fuming, but she has to listen to it, because formalities will have it that way.
And Astarion might play it down afterwards for just liking the challenge but he's actually so happy he could actually use his specific knowledge to help someone - and kinda remedy some of his past wrongdoings.

I love your meta!!! Itâs amazing that youâre still able to identify and connect new things that the rest of us overlooked. Do you have any predictions for next season? Not just with SydCarmy but also any thoughts about where the show may take us
Thank you!
I think a big focus of next season is going to be on their lives intertwining and their families coming together. Season 3 ended with Richie, Nat, Carmy, and Sydney all coming together to open the restaurant and including her in their core group like family. And like Ayo and everyone in the show has said, this is all about chosen family and real family. But I also think a lot of bad shit is going to happen, especially at the very start of the season.
After Carmy practically begging to meet Sydney's dad, I do think Emmanuel and Carmy will finally meet. I do not think he is going to like Carmy at the start. He is very sceptical of their whole arrangement, he knows Sydney quit for a minute and might have heard Sydney talk shit about him. And if he ever finds out what went down on opening night, I don't think he'll be too happy with Carmy. But I do think they will eventually bond and get to know each other, I think including that Sydney's dad was sober from alcohol is going to be a big conversation for them.
I think they were alluding for Natalie having some sort of complication maybe preeclampsia with her shoulder pain. I think she's going to give birth sooner rather than later. Natalie giving birth is going to bring Donna back and is what is going to get Carmy and his mother to finally see each other again after seemingly years apart.
I also think Donna and Sydney will meet. I think Natalie and Sydney are both going to try to get Carmy to at least try to give his mother a chance because they are both much more optimistic and forgiving people than him. I think it's going to cause a lot of tension between all of them because Carmy doesn't want Sydney seeing that side of his family.
Sydney's share/ownership of the restaurant comes back into question. I also think Carmy getting more credit/recognition than her in reviews or press will bother her. I think she will basically say that this place is not really hers. Someone tries to poach Sydney, Carmy freaks out. Sydney starts to consider if it is worth staying if another good opportunity comes along.
Marcus' mom is dead and gone. RIP to that lady. I think grief and how they all deal with it differently will be a big theme. Carmy ignored his grief for a long time and tried to use work to fix things. Sydney and her dad still keep her mom's memory alive but she still struggles with letting others know about her grief. I think Marcus will be letting others help him and be there for him and Sydney will be there for him. I think this will bring back things Carmy about his own grief and how he's still dealing with it.
Luca returns to fill in for him for a bit and emotional support for Marcus. Which I think will also bring us to see Competitive Carmy in full force as goes into Michelin Mode, for Syd's sake. No amusement or enjoyment. I also think this will kinda turn the crew against Carmy as they'll prefer Sydney, they kind of already do. Especially considering she was more involved in training them and in the build than he was. Plus she's just nicer than him.
Sydney will overwork herself and burn out, she won't trust Carmy on his own and will inevitably put a lot of pressure on herself. She's not going to want to quit or stop but Carmy and her Dad will be pressuring her to slow down because she's making herself sick. I think a large focus of Season 3 will be on their energy. In Season 1 it was all about the pressure of money, Season 2 about time pressure, and now they need to find the energy to keep going because they need to make back money in a set time frame. The focus on energy and their internal dynamics between them, rather than external issues like things in restaurant being broken.
Jealous Carmy. When he realizes Marcus likes Syd more than a friend, he's going to view everyone as competition and a threat, even though he's still to scared to do anything about it. I think Sydney will grow closer to Marcus and Richie and maybe even Luca or new guy Connor, not in any romantic way, but it is going to bother Carmy a lot that she never spends any time with him and that they know her outside of work but he doesn't.
Menu overhaul is inevitable, aside from Marcus dishes, most of the menu is not that remarkable and they really need to pull out new interesting ideas if they want a star. I'm sure we will see a lot more of Syd and Carmy actually testing recipes together. Carmy is just not as creative as Sydney when it comes to food, he struggled with the chaos menu. Mostly as Carmy's way to force proximity with Syd when she doesn't want to be around him.
I'm also still rooting for the return of the short rib risotto and the missing acid chaos ingredient. They have to bring it back.
Tina and/or Richie straight up comment on Sydcarmy. I think Tina knows and suspects a lot more than she lets on. She is very observant and protective over Sydney. She's overheard and seen a lot of what has been going down between them. She's going to put Carmy in his place and scare him a little on Sydney's behalf.
Richie on a similar note is going to put 2 and 2 together on what Carmy is feeling and basically tell him to stay away from Sydney because he doesn't want a Claire 2.0 to happen to her and he probably feels like Carmy does not even deserve Sydney in any way and he would just fuck things up for everyone at the restaurant.
Natalie finally says something to him and that's what finally gets him to do something and stop bottling everything in. She never commented on his relationship to anyone except Sydney, and that was more so to get her in the loop and protect her, because she knew Carmy was leading her on while seeing Claire and not telling her. She's going to subtly or not so subtly ask him wtf he is doing. I also think Jimmy fully thought Sydney was his girlfriend.
Fire Suppression System will tested for real with an actual fire. I have a lil theory that Sydney is going to be the one to accidentally start a fire next season. The fire suppression test was all a metaphor for Syd and Carmy suppressing their feelings and the spark/fire that they have. At the end of season 1 Carmy started a grease fire after Sydney quit, because he couldn't suppress his sadness and feelings for her. In season 2 they passed the fire suppression and Carmy decided to declare Claire his girlfriend. They managed to contain their feelings, but eventually they still came out with Carmy and his panic attack. But now I'm sure Sydney is going to be the one trying to suppress feelings because of how everything went down, and I think it will just blow up in her face literally and metaphorically. They spent so much time explaining the fire suppression system and the electrical wiring and the amperage of it all, that I think it's going to come into play again.
Carmy uses Sydney for emotional support without her realizing. When he texted her because he needed her comfort and forgiveness before opening Mikey's note, she didn't know that was what was happening. When he had panic attack and thought of her to calm down he used her for comfort, but she doesn't know all that. I think he's going to tell her or show her that she is his comfort person. I also think we will also see Sydney eventually reach for him for support and comfort as well.
Sydney's catering days and UPS flashback. Please I am begging. We need more of her lore. I think next season will be a lot of seeing her as more independent and being the boss, we only just started to see her at her peak performance in the last episode. I think we'll see more of her evolution, and also her flighty nature. She went from restaurant to restaurant. I think the idea of her leaving The Bear will hang around all season, but she won't leave.
Claire apology then goodbye within the same episode. Sorry to that girl. I think Carmy was already planning to breakup with her after he had the panic attack and the talk with Uncle Jimmy, which is why he freaked out when after he saw her at dinner. I don't think there would be much place for her unless they throw her into some hospital scenes with maybe Nat or Sydney being sick. I think her work here is done. I think she might make other appearances with the Faks. They are close family friends. Maybe she's friends with the elusive Francie Fak that everyone is dying to know what happened between her and Nat.
I think Richie will try to work elsewhere for a bit. He wants to prove that he doesn't need Carmy and that he can succeed without him. I think he'll come back when Sydney asks him to. The situation with him and Tiff feels very 50/50 to me. On the one hand I think it could be him learning to move on from his ex, on the other hand I think Chris and Joanna are all about second chances and I could see Tiff seeing Richie change and wanting to give things another chance.
I also think there's opportunity to see another city like we did with Copenhagen. I'm still rooting for Carmy to take Syd to Noma before it shuts down. I could also see a New York flashback episode with Carmy working at Eleven Madison and Sydney going on her NYC food tour and their whole invisible string coming together.
Not in this season, but The Bear Cookbook will happen. Trust.
And The Psychedelic Musical Episode. A girl can dream. But I do think we'll get another karaoke scene, maybe with the whole crew going out after a shift and just letting loose for once.

first yiik impressions?
Hi. Thanks for your message. I've been thinking about this for days. I wrote paragraphs. Here you go!
Everyone talks up how the game is bad, but I've never looked into it much myself, so I went in with an expectation along the lines of "people whose opinions I often agree with think it was an awful mess, I'll likely think something similar". Expectations were low. Even then I wasn't really ready.
"YIIK" is a game of tedium. I don't think it's a game about tedium, that's something different (though it could be, if it was a different video game altogether; "what if the world was made of pudding" etc). To some degree I think the tedium is by design but I'm not really sure what it's in service of.
I don't think tedium in a video game is a bad thing. "Morrowind" and "Breath of the Wild" are two video games I like very much, and some of my favourite memories of those games are of slowly wandering through empty expanses, or having to suddenly deal with equipment degrading or supplies dwindling because I forgot to prepare. Moments like that feel thoughtful! They're interesting moments of reprieve or of tension that feel thoughtfully and intentionally designed! "YIIK" feels like trudging through chest-deep molasses so it can shout "hey did you know you're stuck in my molasses right now? that's weird, why are you stuck in my molasses right now? did you notice?" directly into your ear.
You'll notice this is a pattern.
Combat is turn-based and involves completing little minigames, timing button prompts or hitting targets or some such. It's a cute idea that wears out its welcome when you start realizing how long every single one takes to resolve, especially when you have multiple party members, and sometimes multiple enemies (I'm told this part specifically gets more egregious as the game goes on). I don't think it's awful or unsalvageable but I'm not super into it as of the point we're at.
This is a pattern.
Leveling up is a manual process that you have to unlock, and it involves going to a save point (any save point? we didn't check), to enter the Mind Dungeon, to enter the actual Mind Dungeon, to walk down a set of stairs and enter individual doors one-by-one, so that you can choose how you want to allocate stat increases, so that you can walk down a different set of stairs to commit your choices and spend your banked experience to level up. I think "you can only power up at specific points / times / locations" and the granularity of stat growth are interesting ideas, and the environment they made for it are a charming idea, and I don't think it needed to be a "Hotel Mario" level that you had to slowly walk through. It could have been a menu. They could have used the resources for a nice background or backdrop for a menu that accomplishes the same thing.
This is a pattern.
I haven't really mentioned anything about the story or writing yet. The protagonist's name is Alex and he's a very self-important nerdy misanthropic dickhead white man (a very specific kind of guy that I've definitely met at least once or twice) who is obsessed with a paranormal message board populated by people like him and desperate to find out more about the disappearance of a woman he witnessed. (The woman & her disappearance are based on the real life death of Elisa Lam & aren't handled with a whole lot of tact, IMO, but other people have put this into better words than I can right now. It sucks. It keeps coming up and it makes me bristle every time.) Alex is a bad person. I know he is. You know he is. The game knows he is. I've seen some reviews say a negative point of the game is "the main characters aren't likeable", which I don't really get, because that's the point of the characters, as far as I can tell. The issue, then, is how much time the game takes to exposit at you how bad the characters are. It's exhausting. Every time Alex has a monologue, it feels like it sums up to 10 minutes of "I am a bad person. I am a bad person. Alex is a bad person. This character is a bad person. Do you get it? He's a bad person. Alex is a bad person. Do you understand yet, player? Alex is a bad person. You should know that he's a bad person. Do you get it?"
This is a pattern.
(I don't know how interested I am in bringing up the game's lead writer right now, if at all, but there's a well-known anecdote where he talks about wanting to write a story about a bad person who is forced to grapple with himself and do better, and how the reason why his game wasn't well-received was because people who play video games didn't get it & weren't ready for a story like that. I dunno. I can understand being upset about negative reception to something you poured time and sweat into, and saying something hasty because of it. "Final Fantasy 4" is a beloved RPG classic, though, and "Disco Elysium" came out the same year to overwhelming praise. I haven't played either of these yet, though, so I'll admit maybe I'm off the mark here.)
The characters we've met so far (i.e. the ones that aren't unnamed NPCs) are⊠well. There's a smarmy younger kid who idolizes(?) Alex & also made the aforementioned paranormal website. So far it seems like he mostly exists to go "hey fuck you Alex, you dickhead" and immediately say something even more insensitive. There's the insensitive based-on-a-real=ass-dead-woman elevator woman, who immediately disappeared from the narrative while still being an essential part of the narrative. There was a dead(?) robot in a bedroom, who had a choir of ominous hooded people monologue about how weird and sad and strange and uncanny the scene is. What the!? There's a woman who works at the arcade and has Powers. Her design's cute. (I feel like, generally, the game's visuals are Fine. The audio, too. That all ranges from Just Fine to Surprisingly Neat. I don't really have much issue with those aspects of the game, but I don't have much to say about them either.) Alex and Kid Whose Name I Didn't Care To Remember are constantly very uncomfortable to her, because she's a woman and because she isn't white, in the 15 or so minutes we've seen her on-screen, and she gets to tell them off, but then immediately kind of goes "well whatever I can smile and put up with this and hang out with you". It feels misogynistic. I know to some degree Alex is misogynistic on purpose, because the game is bludgeoning your skull in and yelling "ALEX IS SHITTY TO WOMEN! AND PEOPLE OF COLOUR! DO YOU GET IT? HE'S SELF ABSORBED IN A SHITTY WAY! DO YOU GET IT, PLAYER? YOU UNDERSTAND THAT ALEX SUCKS ASS YET? MAYBE 10 MORE MINUTES OF THIS WILL MAKE IT CLICK?" But for a woman of colour (the only one we've seen so far who isn't Probably Just Dead) to finally tell him off for being a shithead, only to turn around and go "well it's ok, you're cool now, let's hang out now because it's narratively convenient and you're the protagonist" is pretty damn egregious!
This is a pattern.
Writing in general feels stilted and long-winded. Most of the main characters feel like they don't talk like people do. Alex gets to feel like a person but that's mostly because he gets to talk to himself so damn much. Most of his monologues feel like overly flowery prose, like someone padded it out with identical adjectives to meet a school essay word count. There's an interesting idea or premise or setpiece every now and then. There's a spark. A glint of something compelling. Every single time this has happened so far I find it immediately snuffed out by an over-blown "oh my god!!!!!!! how weird!!!!!!', or a very long plot dump, or a Joss Whedon-ass quip. There can be no small moment of joy. No story element or visual element can stand on its own legs. There can be no room for ideas to breathe. No space for the player to wonder, to dream, to play in the space. The narrative is compelled to suffocate iself on itself, to take up all space, to swallow itself whole in its making. One very minor (so far?) side character has some interesting dialogue in this one dream world, and I think "oh that's neat", and then I learn they're lines taken wholesale from a book (and I think that's fine, reference is fine, but I have a bit of a chuckle over the fact that this character is the reason why the game has a giant REFERENCES option in the main menu). The literal first minute of the game is a bird telling you "oh my god, the title of this game, right? why'd they spell it like that? so fucking dumb, am I right!" It feels insecure. It reads like the writing has no confidence in itself. It has to make a comment about how silly and video-gamey it is, roll its eyes at itself, mock itself for the thing it's doing while continuing to do it without addressing it or discussing it or doing anything with it.
This is a pattern.
There's a specific part of "YIIK", at this early point in the game (we're only around the start[?] of chapter 2), that feels emblematic of the thing as a whole up to this point. Alex is getting phone calls from a stranger. They're confusing and weird and sound a little like something you might hear in a dream. They make references to some shared past, some childhood, some understanding of Alex, or maybe of you, the player. They've come up a few times. Every single time, I'm left thinking about what it could mean, how it fits in with everything we've seen so far & what the game seems to be talking about, with regards to connecting to other people and to yourself. It's a neat little thing. It's a neat idea. I'm charmed by it. As much as my thoughts on this game are largely negative, I still try to look at it fairly, to understand it, to talk about it, to let myself be surprised by it. As soon as I find myself thinking about this, my thoughts are immediately drowned out by Alex telling me how weird the phone call is, how random and uncanny and dumb this is, and how he's rolling his proverbial eyes about it, in spite of all the other paranormal happenings around him, for another period of Just Too Long. And I am sapped of all strength and I crumble to dust.
I'm genuinely transfixed. I'm transfixed! Maybe the fact that I wrote Paragraphs about the 4-or-5 hours I've seen of the game can tell you as much, even if you skip everything I wrote in them.
I can't wait to see more.
This, too, is a pattern.

Starting Over Again - Chapter 6
Warning: Not accurate medical stuff. Not accurate law stuff. Swear words. Some use of nicknames such as Sweetie and Darling. Emotional angst and physical angst.
A/N: Thank you everyone for your comments, reviews, re blogs, and likes. It means a lot to a new writer like me. This is my first try at a fan fiction so I am still working on trying to find the balance between making the story entertaining and not dragged out, but not being too quick either. All of your reviews and comments helps me try to learn how to write better, so I appreciate all your feed back. I hope you keep enjoying the story. I had thought it was going to end by now, but I am going to run with a idea and make it last a little longer.
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5
Chapter 6
Laying on the hospital bed as the doctor examines your left side, you hiss in pain when he gently pushes on you. âIt appears you have some internal bleeding, possibly from the spleen. I am going to order a few tests. Right now all your vital signs appear stable. I think we're going to have to go in there and do a spleen repair, though. I am going to try to wait and see what the tests show as long as you remain stable. If you become unstable we're just going to go in for emergency surgery without the tests.â he stated, jotting down a few notes on his chart, âThere's a officer here to get a statement,â he looked at you and then over to Dani and Lily who had never left your side, âAre you all ready to give a statement?â
âSend them in.â you say, despite the pain surging though your left side and up to the your shoulder. The room seemed to be spinning now. You didn't want to wait a minute longer. You needed them to know how dangerous Lee was and how much danger Tyler and your friends were now in.
âVery well,â he said, âA nurse should be here in a few moments with some pain medication for you.â
âMs. Y/LN?â the officer spoke softly and had a kind face as he entered the room.
âYes, that's me.â your voice trembled.
âDo you know who it was that attacked you?â
âYes. It was my husband Lee.â
âHas he done this type of thing before?â the officer asked.
âYes. For the last five years. It's just normally beating, not stabbing.â you feel the tears rolling down your cheek.
Dani and Lily stand on either side of you, holding your hands.
âSir, I am worried about my friends, one is here in the hospital and I am afraid my husband is going to go after him.â you say trembling. You had lived in this hell for five years. You knew what Lee could do and what he would do.
âEverything will be okay,â the officer assures you. âYou and your friends are safe in here. We've alerted security. They will keep an eye on things.â he assured you. âNow, are you certain it was your husband? Could it be anyone who looked like him?âthe officer continued.
âNo..it was him. I am certain of it. I left him a few days ago and came down here. He told me he would kill me if I ever left him.â
The officer nodded, âAnd you said he beat you, often, right?â
âYes.â you answer taking calm and steady breaths.
âHave you filed a police report against him before?â
âNo.â you sigh.
âAnd why not?â
âI was afraid. I had no where to go. I didn't know what to do.â
âBut you left him this time and came here? Where did you leave him from?â
âI left from Tennessee. I took his truck. I took some money from his account. Some people helped me and I got a bus ticket down here after finding a job opening as a storm chaser.â
The officer nodded and you looked up at him, âAm I in trouble for taking the truck and money?â you ask.
âWell Ms. Y/LN.â There are no warrants issued for you. If you were married then the money is considered partly yours. âWhere is the truck now?â he asked.
âI left it back in TN, along with the keys and his wallet. The $500 was all that I took and used.â
âI don't see a problem then, Ms. Y/LN.â he jotted down a few notes, âBut I am curious, how do you think he found you here?â
âI...I don't know.â you whisper.
âI have an idea.â Lily said. âThere's a few photos of her with us that our fans have taken. They are asking who she is. If that bastard...excuse my language, if he were to stumble across one of those sites...the fans post all the information about us. It would have been easy for him to look us up and see where we were and what our names were. We knew Y/N was leaving a dangerous situation, so we have been careful not to show her on our videos or mention her name or anything...but...I guess that doesn't stop the fan base from being curious and taking photos.â
The officer closed his notepad and looked at you with a sympathetic expression. âUnfortunately, there isn't anything I can do at this moment except take down the suspect description and an account of what happened. There is no eyewitness, no video surveillance, and no proof that your husband came from Tennessee to Oklahoma to track you down and attack you. There is no record of abuse or past police reports filed.â
âSo that's it? He's free?â you ask, your voice trembling.
âI am sorry, there's nothing else I can do. You can tell me the make and model of the truck he drives, a tag number if you have it. We can issue a BOLO, but even if we do find the truck...there is no evidence that he was the one who attacked you.â
âThat's a load of sh...â Lily trailed off when Dani placed a hand on her shoulder.
The officer handed you his card. âIf there is anything else you think of...call me.â
With that he nodded to Dani and Lily and left the room.
âY/N, I am so sorry.â Lily and Dani hugged you.
You close your eyes fighting back the tears. A loud beeping filled the air as the machines sent off alarms You tried to hide it long enough to talk to the officer, but the pain was worsening. It was unbearable now. The room was spinning in circles and your vision was starting to blur.
âAlright Ms. Y/LN. I've got some meds I am going to put in your IV.â the nurse rushed into the room, âThe doctor is concerned about your blood pressure, it's dropping too fast and that's a sign of serious internal bleeding. He's decided to go ahead with emergency surgery. We're going to start prepping you right away.â
Turning to Dani and Lily the nurse continued, âI am sorry, but you will have to leave for now. Visiting hours are at 8am.â
âNo...please don't leave me.â you felt a panic rising. What if you died? What if that wasn't enough to satisfy Lee and he just continued to come after Tyler and your friends?
âI am sorry sweetie. We will be right out in the waiting room. We aren't leaving.â Lily promised.
âMake sure Tyler is okay.â You mumbled, already feeling the blackness overtake you.
âWe will, sweetie. All of us are going to be right out in the waiting room, okay?â Dani promised.
* * * * *
Tyler awoke to see Dexter and Boone sitting in the chair next to his bed. He turned his head, scanning the room but couldn't find the one person he wanted to see the most.
âWhere's Y/N? Is she resting back at the hotel?â he his asked, his voice still weak and groggy.
âTake it easy.â Dexter said calmly, âYou need to rest.â
âI want to know where Y/N is! What's wrong? I know something is wrong.â Tyler's heart beat sped up and his breath was coming out in gasps, sending the machines beeping. Fear gripped him. Y/N wasn't here and his friends didn't want to tell him why.
âGuys, I'll have to ask that you leave. You're upsetting him. Mr. Owens needs to rest.â the nurse glared at Dexter and Boone as she entered the room, then turning to Tyler, âSir..you must calm down. You got broken ribs, too much movement could puncher a lung. Your leg has stitches...if you were to pull them out you could bleed to death...do you understand me?â she was almost yelling at him.
âDon't make them leave. I just need to know where my girlfriend is. I need to know she's alright, then I'll lay here and be good.â he promised, forcing himself to calm down, if just for a moment.
âVery well.â she glared at the three men, âI don't want no more outbursts.â she warned.
âyes ma'am.â the three said in union.
Tyler waited until the nurse was out of the room, âNow tell me, where is Y/N?â he demanded with a glare.
âPromise not to get upset?â Boone asked. Tyler only responded with a glare.
âShe's currently in surgery. Dani and Lily are out in the waiting room. We are just waiting on word from the doctor when surgery is completed.â Dexter said.
Tyler's heart skipped a beat, tears filled his eyes, âWhat happened?â he asked, his breathing becoming labored as a million thoughts raced though his head. She was fine last night. He saw her, talked to her. She was going back to the hotel with the Dani and Lily to get something to eat and rest...why was she now in surgery? A tornado? A accident? Was she hurt before and trying to hide it?
âWhat the hell happened!â Tyler yelled when no one answered.
âShe had internal bleeding.â Dexter informed him, âthey rushed her into emergency surgery.â
âTell me...what HAPPENED!â Tyler demanded, making a move to sit up, but slipping back down in the bed.
âMan, calm down before you hurt yourself worse or get us thrown out.â Boone hissed, âWe'll tell you, just calm down.â
âCalm down hell! I am getting out of here. What the hell happened!â Tyler's voice boomed though the room, even over the alarms now going off on the machines. He pushed himself up with more force this time and swung his feet over to the side of the bed, crying out at the pain that shoot though his injured leg.
âT...we're going to tell you, but promise to stay calm.â
Tyler glared at his friends with clenched teeth. He knew he wasn't going to like whatever his friends had to tell him.
âShe was stabbed.â Dexter stated.
Panic filled him, âOh my God! How did it happen?â he asked, biting at his lip trying to remain calm.
âHer husband. He found her.â Dexter said.
âIt wasn't nothing we did.â Boone said quickly, watching Tyler's normally tanned face turn red in a rage of anger, âFans apparently got a few photos of her and posted them online asking who she was. That gave this creep all the information he needed to track us down.â
âWhere. Is. He.â Tyler was furious.
âThat, we don't know.â Dexter said.
âWhat the hell you mean you don't know!â Tyler blasted out, tears streaming down his face, âWho was with her when it happened?â
âDani and Lily were. Lily said that he attacked Y/N out there in the parking lot once they left your room last night. Dani tackled him and I guess he pulled a knife and Y/N went at him to help Dani and she ended up getting stabbed. The jerk ran off like the chicken shit he is.â
âI assume you called the police?â Tyler asked.
âYes...there's nothing they can do right now as there's no evidence. No other eye witness or surveillance or anything.â Boone said softly.
âWell, I am going to do something about it.â he seethed.
âAlright. OUT! Both of you OUT!â The nurse stormed in. âWe are over filled with tornado victims from last night and I can't be running in here every five minutes. Now OUT!â she pointed at the door. Then glared at Tyler, âWhat do you think you are doing? You are suppose to be in bed!â
âI am leaving too.â Tyler pulled at the monitors connected to him, âThere's an emergency I need to deal with.â
âYOU sir, are not cleared to leave until at least tonight, but probably not until tomorrow. You are to be resting and letting your body heal before you do a lot of moving about.â
âMa'am, I am leaving this room. Now get my papers and get me released.â
âAre you telling me you are refusing any further care?â she glared.
âYes. I am refusing any further care. Just give me a prescription for whatever I need to take and release me.â
âFine. You are going to sign a release stating we aren't reasonable. I warned you.â The nurse muttered as she unhooked the machines and turned them off, âWe could use the extra bed anyway.â
âThank you.â Tyler stated.
âI'll be back in a few minutes with your papers. I've got to inform your doctor first.â
Ty nodded and turned to Boone and Dexter, âDid you guys get my truck last night?â
âWe did.â Dexter said, âShe was flipped over, but otherwise just fine. We got the doors unlocked. It's back at the hotel waiting for you.â
âThank you guys.â he said softly. âDon't suppose I have a clean change of clothes?â
âSure do. We got your dirty stuff out of here and there is a clean outfit and your phone laying over there on the counter, waiting for you to get out of here.â
âYou guys are the best.â Tyler stood, wobbling on his feet and almost crashing back to the bed. Boone was there instantly to offer him a steadying hand. âT..I don't really think you should be leaving the hospital man. What good will you be to Y/N if you get your self killed? You need to stay in that bed and rest.â
âI need to be with her! I can't lay here not knowing how she is or whats happening. I can't stay in this room with the possibility of that bastard getting to her.â Tyler seethed. âNow help me get my clothes or I will do it myself, even if I have to crawl!â
âAlright man, whatever you need.â Boone gave in, knowing he couldn't win this argument. Together, they shuffled over to the counter and grabbed his clothes, âOnce I get released I want you guys along with Dani and Lily to head back to the hotel and get some rest. I'll call you once Y/N is released.â
âWe can just hang around here. Y/N was worried that her husband was going to come after you or something.â
âI hope he does.â Tyler seethed, âI am going to kill him, after I beat him to death.â he couldn't hide the anger that was raging in him.
While he was in the bathroom getting dressed, Lily stopped by the room, instantly noticing the empty bed, âWhere's Ty?â she gasped.
âHe found out about Y/N.â Boone looked guilty. âI had to tell him. He was going to tear this room apart and probably us too if I didn't.â
âTyler!â Lily called.
Hearing Lily's voice he threw open the bathroom door so fast he lost his balance and was falling forward, his shirt only half on, his pants still unbuttoned. Dexter and Boone caught him, helping him to get steady again.
âHow's Y/N?â he gasped. Right now, that's all he cared about. The only thing he could think of. He needed to know she was okay. He needed to be by her side.
âShe's out of surgery. The doctors were able to stop the bleeding. She's in a room now and they're just waiting for her to wake up. She's going to be okay, Ty.â
âI am checking myself out. I need to be there with her.â Tyler said, his voice heavy with emotion.
Lily started to protest, but the door opened and the doctor entered with a hand full of papers, âMr. Owens, I hear you are refusing any further care? Is that correct?â
âYes.â
âI have to warn you, if those ribs puncher a lung or your stitches pull out, you could be facing possible death. It is my recommendation that you stay in the hospital just a bit longer.â
âI am going down to my girlfriend's room. I need to be with her.â Tyler said, âSo technically, I am not leaving the hospital until she does.â
âThat's all well and good, but you will not be under a doctors care and will not be monitored. You are facing possible death by leaving. I need to make that clear to you...if something happens we are not responsible.â
âI am warned. I understand the risks and I accept them. Now where do I sign?â Tyler asked.
âHere.â the doctor pointed to a few lines that he needed to sign, âAnd you can go down to the hospital pharmacy and pick up your medication. There's something for pain and to prevent infection.â
âThank you.â Tyler handed the signed papers back and very slowly limped out of the room. âNow, where is Y/N?â he asked.
âI'll take you to her room.â Lily said, knowing it was too late to argue anyway. She also knew, once Tyler Owens made his mind up about something, there was no changing it. âWe'll get you some chairs fixed up so you can be comfortable and rest.â
âAnd we'll go down and pick up your prescriptions.â Boone offered, âAnything else you want us to get?â
âThank you. I really appreciated everything you guys have done.â Tyler gives them both a gentle hug, being careful not to move too much and hurt his ribs again. âMaybe a little food. Some for Y/N too, for when she wakes up.â
âYou got it T.â Boone nodded.
Tyler tried to hid the pain that coursed though his body with each step as he limped down the hallway, following Lily to where Y/N was. Carefully, he opened the door and slipped into the room. He was relieved to see her resting comfortably, the steady beep of the heart monitor told him she was doing okay.
âTy? What are you DOING?â Dani hopped up and rushed over to him.
âI signed myself out early. I wanted to be here with Y/N.â
âTyler, you need to rest!â Dani scolded, âYou're no good to her if you go and hurt yourself even worse.â
âI am going to rest. Dexter and Boone are getting my medicines and some food. I am going to sit in a chair next to her bed and be here when she wakes up.â
âI take it the guys told you what happened.â Dani shook her head.
âThey tried not to tell me, but I forced them.â Tyler grinned then looked serious, âThat's why I want to be here with her. How is she?â
âDoctor said everything went good in surgery. She's going to be okay, Ty.âDani was already moving the chairs around, âHere, sit here.â she directed, then slide the second chair over, âAnd put your feet on this one.â
Grateful to be able to sit down again, Tyler eased himself into the chair next to your bed and Dani carefully helped him prop his legs up on the second chair.
âI'll go get some pillows from the nurse and ask for an extra blanket for you.â Lily offered.
âThank you...â Tyler smiled at his friends, âI owe you both, really big. Thank you for taking care of her, for protecting her.â
âThat's what family does!â Dani patted his shoulder.
âI am sorry, sweetheart.â Tyler whispered, taking your hand in his and leaning down to kiss it softly. He couldn't stop the tears from falling anymore and he didn't care who saw. He leaned his head on the bed next to you sobbing, âI am sorry I wasn't there last night. I am sorry you got hurt again.â he rubbed his figures gently over your hand.
As Tyler laid there, his figures intertwined with yours,..a new fear crept in. What if Lee showed up before he was fully healed? It was killing him just to limp down the hallway. He didn't care what happened to him, but what if he wasn't able to protect you? What if that bastard found you and he lost the fight because he was still injured, and Lee got to you. It would have to be over his dead body, but Tyler knew that could be a very real thing. If Lee showed up right now, he knew that he wasn't strong enough to over take him...not yet. He sure as hell would go down fighting for you though. Tyler knew he had to get you out of here and to safety for a few weeks.
Lily returned a minute later with a blanket and pillows, which she used to prop up Ty's leg and support his back. Boone had already returned with two bags of food and a change of clothes for Y/N as well as Ty's phone.
The four friends stood there watching the scene in front of them. Tyler was sitting in the chair, his leg stitched up and bandaged, his broken ribs wrapped and he was leaning over, his head laying on the bed next to yours. He looked drained and tired, eyes were red and puffy from the tears he cried, pain etched across his face. The friends watched in silence for a few moments, Tyler holding your hand, seemly lost in thought.
âI think our wrangler has been wrangled himself.â Lily whispered to the team, who smiled and nodded in agreement.
âNeed anything else, T?â Boone asked softly. âWe're going to get out of here and give you two some time alone.â
âNo...you guys have been amazing and I owe you all really big. I was just thinking, what if we all took a week or two off and just went to the beach? A buddy of mine has a beach house down in Galveston, I think he'll let us use it. I am suppose to rest anyway so we can't do storm chasing for a bit. I think it will do good for Y/N to get her away from here for a bit and just relax.â
âSeriously?â Boone grinned, âYou are offering us a BEACH vacation, rather then storm chasing?â
âYeah..â Tyler nodded âYeah I am..Why don't you guys get some rest and we will discuss this once Y/N wakes up.â
âAlright, T. Call us when you need us.â Boone said, stepping out of the door with the rest of the team...âYES!!! BEACH HERE I COME!â Tyler heard Boone yelling down the hallway and shook his head.
âWhat do you think, Darling? You, me, sun, sand, ocean...â Tyler squeezed your hand and leaned his head back against the chair.
A few moments of silence went by, then Tyler heard you respond...âI think that's a wonderful idea..â
âY/N?â Tyler moved a little too fast and gasped at the pain. âY/N? How you feeling?â he gasped between breathes.
You turn to look at him, hearing the pain in his voice.âTy? What you doing here? You okay?â you asked, concerned.
âI am fine sweetheart. They released me this morning.â Tyler held your hand close to him and kissed it softly, âI was worried sick about you. They told me what happened...â he choked back the tears. âHow are you feeling? You in pain? Let me go get the doctor.â
âI am okay...just tired.â you hold his hand tightly, âTy...don't leave. Just stay here...please.â you begged, your eyes locking on him. You didn't want to be alone. You didn't want him being alone either.
âI am not going anywhere, Darling.â Tyler's voice was low and husky as he held your hand against his cheek.

Hasan Piker | Stream Appearance headcanons
I'm in so much pain rn it's not even funny, imma take some pain killer and sleep. Reblogs always welcomed. Request are open!
Partner streams with Hasan are very chaotic in general. However nothing would truely match the partner reveal twitch stream I imagine the stream would have âSecret special guestâ or something in the title. I would start out as a normal stream, personal life, politics, and so on until it's about 2-3pm. The entire time Heâd be staying that there is someone coming later, and they need to be on their best behavior . When talking about his personal life at the start of the stream heâd mention that his partner is staying over and swiftly moving on, not an uncommon thing for him to do, so nothing was really thought of.
When you show up, he introduces you by saying âChat, introducing to you, for the first time on any platform, my partner.â Queue chat losing their collective mind, and starting to ask any and all questions they can think of. Heâs incredibly watchful of chat during this time, and instantly banning anyone who sends a chat saying or implying something rude about you. This is also followed by the obligatory Joe Rogan video that he makes girls watch when they first appear on stream.
After the reveal stream I can imagine you becoming a recurring person, mostly tiny cameos. Like, every so often your hand will pop into frame to hand him something, water or food. It always causes him to stop what heâs in the middle of doing at that moment and thank you, he could be knee deep in a 10 minute stun lock and just have to hand him a water bottle and heâll come to a full stop until you leave the room at which point heâll pick his little rant back up.
I can also see stream bits that include you. Painting streams (more on that later), movie reviews, true crime, and other react andy things are not uncommon things for you to be on stream for. For example he would let you just rant about any movie youâve watched, recently or not, for like thirty minutes. Like, yes girl, explain Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue to chat, theyâll love it.
Or heâll get you to watch older reality TV shows, and videos that pertain to your interest. You know these J-Aubery mini-docs that heâll watch, heâll also get you to watch them. Anytime something comes up that you donât understand, heâll make sure to pause it so he can explain it to you until you do. If you are watching something and he doesnât get it but you do, he does expect you to explain it. Sometimes heâll have you explain things to him on stream just because he likes to show off how smart you are to chat.
Sometimes when you go to give Kaya some pats, you hover in the background. Mainly when you're interested in what he is watching/doing or when youâre trying to figure out just what heâs going off about, I can only imagine how confusing it must be to walk into the middle of him being stunlocked by some chatter.
He will absolutely make fun of how short you are, no matter your actual height, because man is built like a brick house and everyone is smaller than him.
I almost forgot about IRL streams. Please find a way to go on any and all IRL streams with him. Especially if itâs some kind of shopping stream. Take every chance you can to fix his fashion sense, itâll never take but you should still try.
Heâd also take you to Shitcamp and the Streamer Awards. I know they are not his live streams but he likes you being there. Youâre not really a contestant or anything, but you take part in certain games and activities. Chat loves seeing you in the background, not really participating but still being iconic.

HC that after the mission and the dagger squad gets closer, Mav ramps up his petnames game as he showers his adopted children with affection. He doesn't even notice he does it. The first few times everyone was embarassed, but leaned to it. However, they realized that Hangman seemed to be affected the most. Constantly blushing or looking down or shutting up whenever Mav gave him a particularly affectionate pet name.
Most commonly used by Mav/Ice to everyone: Buddy, Kiddo, Kid, Son, Baby
Some of the most used petnames for the squad (although he uses the same nicknames for the others, some nicknames stuck more to certain people):
---
The dagger squad stayed over for the night after movie night went on for far too long. Most of them still sprawled around the living room, some on the couch, air mattress, or straight up on the floor. Bob woke up the earliest that day and started up the coffee.
Mav clambered down a moment after, drawn by the scent and Bob handed him a mug.
Mav smiled at him and reached out to ruffle his hair, "Thank you, sunshine."
Mav clambered out the kitchen saying something about ordering breakfast for them, as Bob stood there blinking mouth wide open.
---
Phoenix and Mav were debating strategy regarding case studies of past missions that could be applied in the future. The argument got a bit heated as they couldn't decide on the best solution for one of the sections.
Phoenix sat down with a sigh, "Dammit, both have good points, both have flaws, but the only deciding factor would be the people doing the mission, but it's not like we have detailed information on the personnel for this case study!"
Mav chuckled, "Didn't expect you to get this riled up, how about we put our opinions on what kind of personnel are best suited for each mission, yeah?"
"Sure, Mav," Phoenix muttered. "Hand me that pen?"
"Of course, Firecracker," Mav said smiling as he handed over the pen. "Hey, how about we go on break? There's a bakery nearby I've been meaning to try, and maybe that would reset our minds, yeah?"
Phoenix blinked at the nickname, then started standing up when Mav mentioned a break. "Yeah, let's go, Admiral, you're paying though," Phoenix said smirking at him.
---
"Mav, I need some advice regarding some maintenance on my car, since I know you fix stuff up," Payback said walking beside the older man.
"Sure kid, what's up?"
They started troubleshooting the best course of action, and who to took too to get the plan approved and implemented. This went on for a while until they were both satisfied.
"Thanks, Admiral Mitchell," Payback said smiling shyly as he realized how much of the man's time he took up.
Mav snorted as he clapped a hand around the younger man's shoulder, "Don't start with that Admiral shit when it's just us, kid. Come on Champ, let's get that car of yours fixed up."
---
"--The different seasons of the show have a variety of reviews, personally I found the first season good, and it kind of went a bit downhill from there, but that could just be nostalgia talking--," Fanboy babbled on gesturing wildly as Mav nodded along listening as he got caught up on Pop Culture.
It was very interesting, and as long as Fanbog kept on talking, he'd be able to keep up conversing with the others.
"--and then there's also the movies which are a classic-- oh sorry," Fanboy said suddenly freezing looking down on his lap.
Mav frowned, "What's wrong, kid?"
"I was talking too much and annoying you--"
"No, you weren't," Mav said putting an arm around his shoulder. "Now, come one whiz-zy, tell me more about the movies I should watch."
The smile Fanboy gave him made him realize that he should probably get a Netflix account, now.
---
"8 ball to corner pocket," Coyote said before lining up his shot.
"You got this, kid," Mav said sipping on his beer as the younger man lined his shot up.
Coyote focused on trying to see the angle to bank the cue ball on the rail, to hopefully brush the 8 just enough to push it to the corner. If he messed up, he'd practically be setting Mav up to win.
He took the shot. 8-ball went in.
He gave a small cheer in celebration as he whirled around to look at Mav who gave him a salute with his beer.
"You're buying drinks, old man," Coyote said grinning wildly as he rested his cue stick on the wall.
"Of course, Cub," Mav said patting the younger man's back as he walked to the bar to order one of those fancy craft beers the younger man, liked.
---
Bradley woke up to the white ceilings of the sick-bay, where he was herded to with Mav after that suicide-not-so-suicide, mission.
"You up, buddy?"
Bradley turned his head to his side to see Mav, sitting up on his own bed, munching on, McDonald's?
"How'd you get, McDonald's-?" Bradley croaked out, squinting to see if this was real.
Mav snorted, before eating another fry, "Ice brought us some, here's your share, kiddo," Mav said standing up to hand Bradley his own greasy, McDonald's paper bag.
"Are you supposed to be standing up-? Are we supposed to be eating this?" Bradley said sitting up as he took the food handed to him.
"Hey, do you want the food or not?" Mav said , raising a brow.
"... Thank you, for the food, Mav," Bradley said as he munched on his fries.
Mav gave him a bright smile, before pulling Bradley in for a quick hug and a kiss to the forehead. "Of course, Baby Goose."
Bradley stared up at Mav wide-eyed as the older man pulled away and Mav noticing this, winced.
"Sorry, Rooster, I shouldn't have overstepped-"
"NO! No, it's fine," Bradley said looking down on the food on his lap as he tugged lightly on the older man's shirt. "It's fine, Uncle Mav."
He missed this.
---
Jake felt a hand run through his hair, making him humm in content as he leaned towards the touch.
"Hey, buddy, how are we doing today?" The gentle voice of his Captain said.
Jake blinked his eyes open, wondering why Mav was here sitting on the edge of the bed. Wait. Where is he?
"Mav?" Jake croaked out.
"That's me, buddy, are you feeling better?" Mav said continuing to stroke Jake's haid.
Right, he was sick, Mav noticed, brought him home to sleep in his guest room for a nap..
"Hmmm, not sure, a bit I guess," Jake said. "What time is it?"
"Dinner time, are you up for some soup?" Mav asked as Jake shrugged.
"Not really hungry."
"How about some soup and hot chocolate?" Mav asked, smiling when he saw Jake perk up.
His hot chocolate was one of Dagger Squad's favorites.
"Can I have extra whipped cream?" Jake asked, eyes pleading up at Mav as he nuzzled towards the older man's side.
Mav kept on running his hand through Jake's hair as he pressed a smile to the boy's temple. "Of course, little prince."
---
Later on the Dagger Squad practically combusts when Iceman starts doing the same thing to them.

Watched the Nimona movie last night. Review I guess. It was pretty damn good. Definitely wouldâve probably been regarded as Blue Skyâs magnum opus if theyâd gotten to release it instead of being fucked over by Disney. Very cute, very funny, very powerful in the right moments. A thing that stuck out to me is that itâs really only an adaptation in the loosest sense of the word. It takes the core premise and beats of the comic but is functionally an entirely different kind of story that does its own thing. And given that ND Stevenson was heavily involved in production, I suspect that was intentional.
The comic was much darker and more downbeat in a lot of ways, plus it was significantly longer and thus could afford to be slower paced. But more than that, it was a lot more meaty in terms of themes and scope. The whole âLGBT allegoryâ element was there, but it wasnât the sole focus, the comic was a story about a lot of different things; not just an LGBT experience, but also discussion of fantasy genre tropes and clichĂ©s, criticism of other fantasy deconstructions, character study, exploring what it means to be a hero or villain, critique of the glorification of crime and cruelty in underprivileged communities, corruption in governments, peer pressure, the senseless and self-perpetuating nature of violence, the worthlessness of revenge, etc.. And above all that, it was a story about trauma and peopleâs responses to it, with Ballister representing people who actually deal with their problems and move on while Nimona represented people who let their mistakes and suffering and grief consume their identity, or worse, use it as an excuse to indulge their worst qualities and take out their feelings on everyone around them.
The movie, by contrast, has a much more narrow focus. The LGBT allegory is front and center and basically the entire focal point of the movie, aside from a spattering of themes about the danger of zealotry and rigid fundamentalist thinking. This gives the movie a much tighter narrative and pacing that suits its inherently shorter runtime, but also leads to a ton of changes to the story either to convey a different kind of message or just work better in a different medium. Most obviously in how Nimona is vastly more sympathetic in the movie and essentially really is the silly gremlin the comic fakes you out into thinking she is, scrapping the comicâs twist that she was a genuinely bad person who was completely serious about wanting to be a villain, caring nothing for the lives she destroyed with her behavior and idolizing Ballister because she thought he was the same as her and would thus tell her what she wanted to hear (i.e., that she was justified in killing and destroying everything around her in the name of getting even). And in the changes to the Institutionâs history and nature. And all sorts of other things.
All in all, I feel if you go in comparing and contrasting the movie and the comic, arguing which changes are for the better or worse, youâll be setting yourself up for disappointment in either direction because theyâre two different beasts and itâs like comparing apples and oranges. So keep that in mind if youâre a fan of the comic watching the movie or a fan of the movie wanting to look into the comic. I think ultimately I still like the comic better, but thatâs purely my personal opinion and thereâs plenty that I think the movie did better.
Some other observations:
Riz Ahmed my beloved, thank you Mr. Stevenson for this perfect casting. Literally perfect for Ballister.
Acting in general was very good. You can tell this was a passion project for a lot of people, not just Stevenson.
Only two changes that are objectively bad are Ambrosius losing his awesome Van Halen hairdo and changing Ballisterâs last name â Blackheart is a way cooler name than Boldheart and itâs a pointless change, one that Iâd argue even hurts the narrative since it makes it too obvious that Ballister isnât actually a bad guy.
The animation is really great with fantastic expressions, stylish movement, and wonderful aesthetics that perfectly suit the story, but thereâs times where it feels a little off. But there are parts where it looks less âmovieâ and more âcheap mid-2000s CGI-and-Flash cartoon show from Franceâ.
The humor can be a hit and miss, in a âgoing through the motions of a Hollywood animated comedy for kidsâ way. The movie excels when itâs either imitating the comicâs Old Internet sense of humor or going hard on the drama, but thereâs bits where it seemingly slams on the brakes to do Illumination-esque Twitter humor and those bits definitely throw off the vibe.
Having an actual straight up attempted suicide in the climax was shockingly ballsy. I genuinely canât believe they went there, but Iâm glad they did because the film wouldnât have felt nearly as raw without it.
I donât know how they managed to make the Director even more of an asshole than in the comics, but they did.

Summary:Â You live a quiet life, but your peace is fractured by a chaotic man.
Characters:Â Lloyd Hansen, short!shy!reader
Note: in the land of delulu.
As per usual, I humbly request your thoughts! Reblogs are always appreciated and welcomed, not only do I see them easier but it lets other people see my work. I will do my best to answer all I can. Iâm trying to get better at keeping up so thanks everyone for staying with me <3
Your feedback will help in this and future works (and WiPs, I havenât forgotten those!) Asking for more or putting âpart 2?â is not feedback.
Love you all. You are appreciated and your are worthy. Treat yourself with care. đ
Steam rises around you as you lower yourself into the water. It might be relaxing but your flesh doesnât meet porcelain. Instead, you lay across the man who sighs beneath your weight. Just as soon as you recline, Lloydâs arms are around you.Â
You flinch as he grabs his other arm and squeezes you close. You tense as he remains completely lax between you. Heâs relaxed and confident. He knows he has control.Â
âAh, jellybean, isnât this nice?â He rocks you with him. âYou have no idea how long Iâve been dreaming of this.â Heâs right, you donât. The more he talks, the more you suspect heâs been watching you for longer than you realise. And he talks a lot. âYou and I. Happy. Together.âÂ
He unclutches his hand and it wanders up your naked chest. Goosebumps rise at the reminder of your nudity. Heâs the only person whoâs seen you like this. Heâs the last person you would want to. You squirm as you feel him harden beneath you. Â
His other hand walks to your thigh. He tickles your skin and pushes his fingertips firmly into your soft flesh. You shudder as his touch sends a tingle through you.Â
âSo, since weâre doing this the not-so-fun way, how about a trip to Las Vegas? We can hit a drive-thru chapel then stop at the casino. Gamble a little, fuck a lot--âÂ
âVegas?â You echo. âI...âÂ
âOh, yeah, youâre classy, arenât you, bean? Yeah, thatâs not right. Vegas. For my wife. Did you know you can get married pretty easily in Hawaii. And itâs gorgeous,â he purrs. âYouâve never been to Hawaii.âÂ
You wince. Each time he tells you how much he knows about you, you remember how little you know of him. Where did he come from? How did he find you? And what kind of man nonchalantly gasses someone one out after a whole stalking campaign? This is absurd. You just canât believe itâs real.Â
As he fondles your chest, youâre assured that it is very real.Â
âYour heartâs racing,â he shifts his hand to spread flat above your tits. âYouâre excited. Me too, bean. Me too. I promise, this ainât just about the sex. Which I am very much rock hard about. No, jellybean, this is about us. About us expressing our love for each other. Sealing it. A pact to be together. Forever.âÂ
He laughs. You might even call it a giggle. He nuzzles your hair and hums.Â
âLook what youâve done to me. I feel like a teenager. Iâm... Iâm just... happy. Iâve never been more certain of anything, bean,â he purrs as he flutters his fingers down your stomach. âYou know, I always thought marriage was stupid. Women, they were fun. Something to play with.â He pets your pelvis as he speaks. âI know, I know, I wonât mention the past. You donât need to know about my mistakes. I was lost without you, jellybean. Stupid. Those women. Sluts. They mean nothing.âÂ
You stiffen and catch his wrist. His splays his fingers, then curls them.Â
âI know, Iâm getting impatient. Promise, Iâll be your good boy. I can wait.â He hooks his other arm around you. âTell ya what. Weâll relax, get freshened up, then we can go book our flights, and look for a pretty dress.â He rambles on as you stare at the ceiling in horror. Everything you say is just a hurdle he easily jumps overs, âand some sexy lingerie. Only the best for my, bean, right?âÂ
Itâs a good thing he canât see your face. As clueless as he is, you think your disgust would be all too obvious. Â

Lloyd has everything ready to go. Tickets, luggage youâve never seen before, and even a passport. You never had a passport. You never travelled and you could never spare the money for the expense of it. That eerie suspicion rises again. How long has he been plotting to dismantle your entire life?Â
The question hardly matters. You canât go back. Heâll make sure of that. He already has. What is there to go back to? An empty apartment and no job. You doubt the company will buy the âoh sorry, I was kidnappedâ excuse.Â
As unprepared you are for any of this, the airport is well beyond anything you can bare. As you enter, youâre struck by the sheer number of people and the noise alone is enough to make your ears itch. You stand in line with Lloyd, searching around for any sliver of hope. This is it. You get on that plane, and thatâs the end.Â
You cover your ears as your head begins to pulse. Lloyd nudges you as the queue moves ahead of him and you pull your luggage along. He hands over the boarding passes and your IDs, then helps get the bigger bags onto a cart. He retrieves his phone and the passports and leads you off towards security with only your carry-on.Â
You shrink down as youâre crowded on both sides. Lloyd startles you as he rubs your back. You glance over at him with wide eyes.Â
âOnce we get through security, we can head over to the diamond long, jellybean. Less crowded there,â he keeps his arm around you, âonly the best for wifey.âÂ
You turn your head straight and stare at the back of the stranger in front of you. You hate this. You never enjoy being among the general public but this is all too much. Thereâs so much sound and people and moving. Itâs chaos.Â
You hold your breath until your eyes threaten to bulge. You slowly let air through your nose as your eyes flick back and forth. You want to run but thereâs nowhere to go.Â
Lloyd ushers you forward and your feet drag. When itâs your turn, you walk through the scanner then stop for them to wave a wand around you. You wait as Lloyd collects his watch, phone, and wallet from the tray.Â
He comes to you and takes your carry-on from you. He directs you around as you look around at the people rushing by. Faces blur and voices blare. You only move in hopes of being free of this.Â
He leads you through a tunnel and the wall of noise fades behind you. You come into a lobby with a desk labeled Diamond Lounge. A woman greets you with a chirp but itâs much preferable to the chattering and yelling of before.Â
Lloyd shows your boarding passes again. The woman says something but you canât discern her words clearly. You're tugged by your hand into another room.Â
The lighting is softer and the space is sectioned by leather seating and mounted televisions, and low tables. There are artificial fires set into the walls and pillows waiting on the cushions. You follow Lloyd to a couch and he sits you down beside him.Â
âHey,â he puts his hand on your shoulder, running his thumb up and down, âjellybean, you okay? You look foggy.âÂ
You look at him and cough. Your chest aches from holding your breath. You nod and sit back. His hand slips away from you.Â
âBean?â He murmurs.Â
You press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Another woman in a white blazer similar to the one behind the desk appears. She pours two glasses of bubbly wine. You watch her and say nothing.Â
She leaves and Lloyd caresses your knee. You stare at his hand. The dress he put on you chafes. You want jeans and a tee shirt.Â
âI...â you begin hoarsely, âhate people.âÂ
He stills his hand and covers your knee, âI know, baby. Me too. Weâll be okay. It wonât be so bad from here.â He drags his hand away and takes the stemmed glasses, âhere,â he offers you one. âCheers.âÂ
You take it and hold it up. He clinks his against it but you do not drink. He sips but stops himself.Â
âThis will be good for us, jellybean. Just think, a proper wedding would be overcrowded, overpriced, and overdone. You know,â he leans towards you and grins, âwhat I love about you, besides the fact that youâre gorgeous from head to tits to ass to toe, is that you like simple things.âÂ
You blink at him and take a gulp. This isnât just a flight or a shotgun wedding, this is your whole life. This man, this maniac, is never going to let you go.Â
âYou need anything? You hungry? You want a blanket? You can relax, baby--âÂ
You think about that more. Heâs as good as giving you a life sentence. With him. Itâs not just terrifying, itâs enraging. Heâs enraging. He never stops.Â
âI need you to shut up,â you snap without thinking.Â
He recoils and his brows arch, âjellybean?âÂ
Your mouth opens and you stare at him. You wait for him to explode. To say something. He just looks at you, stunned.Â
âI said shut up,â you repeat shakily.Â
âOh? Iâm sorry, bean. I know you get a bit stressed from everything going on--âÂ
âShut.â You trace a finger through the air, âup.âÂ
He takes a breath then shuts his mouth. He nods and pouts. He bats his eyes at you and sits back. You watch him uncertainly. He just looks back at you. You turn your attention to the glass of wine and drain it.Â
Finally, some peace and quiet.Â

Every little girl, every woman dreams of their wedding. Donât they?Â
No. Not you. Not ever. Never. Not in a million years. And to that man?Â
To your surprise, the plane ride is quiet. You have your first-class seat and a pair of earbuds and an almost worryingly quiet neighbour. Since you barked at him to stop talking, Lloyd has obeyed. The longer he stays silent, the more you worry. Â
Is he angry? You donât want to care if he is but this man is dangerous even if he is ridiculous. He did gas you out of your former life.Â
You disembark and he gets the bags. All of them. Heâs suffocatingly servile. He loads the rental car and opens the passenger door for you. The only words he utters are âjellybeanâ or some other redundant pet name.Â
You chew your lip as you stare out the window. Itâs gorgeous. It takes until that moment for reality to hit. Youâre in Hawaii. Youâre far away from home. Further than youâve ever been. The beauty of the island battles with your displacement.Â
The hotel is just as immaculate as the rest of the scenery. Lloyd checks you in and sends for the bags. You go to the balcony and stare off at the ocean as he fumbles around the suite.Â
âOn its way?â He says into the phone. âYeah, thatâs great. And the minister? Mmhm, yes, right on the beach.âÂ
You slump and cross your arms. You want to just fold into yourself. Maybe if you bash your head against the window...Â
âJellybean,â Lloyd calls to you. You cringe at the glass doors and turn your head slightly. He approaches, almost demure in his posture. âI donât want to ruin our special day but there are a few things we still need to get ready for tomorrow.âÂ
You face him fully and stare. Now he wants your input?Â
âYou know I love you, right, bean?â He says, his lips twitching. He smooths his mustache with his fingers then shakes his hand out. You donât have an answer, just an endless stare. âIâd do anything for you.âÂ
Love? Really? Right. He knows you as much as you know him. Not much. He might know about you, but he doesnât really know you. And do anything for you or to you? Or to keep you? Because none of this is what you want.Â
âYour dress will be your something new, and something old is your ring. Did I mention it belong to Elizabeth Taylor?â He smiles sheepishly, âso you just need something blue... I was thinking a garter? And something borrowed...â He puts his hands together and wiggles free his pinky ring, âyou can try it on? Or just put it on a chain.âÂ
You squint at him. Heâs crazy. Thatâs obvious but he really is. He thinks this is a dream come true. Not just his, but yours. This is an actual nightmare.Â
âWell...â he takes your hand and presses the ring into your palm. âI know you need to rest before the big day so thereâs some wine and whatever in the mini fridge. I can get you some champagne? Or something else? Are you hungry?âÂ
You shake your head and pull your hand from his. You turn away and look back through the window. You watch the coast and the peaceful lapping of water. You canât be there right now, not mentally. So in your head, youâll run out into the waves until they swallow you up. Thatâs much preferable.Â
âJellybean,â he says, âIâll shut up now.âÂ

Hi! thank you for my matchup and I really enjoyed it. You made all of my matches sound like they want to marry me, hehe (especially with Izuku). BTW, get well soon! Also, this isn't a request (just something I imagined): Izuku who absolutely loves the reader. One day, he randomly brings them a gift. As appreciation for his gifts, reader kisses Izuku all over his face.
Very glad to hear you enjoyed the results! I was somewhat nervous itâd be a hit or miss because I had never written anything BNHA related, but I had a lot of fun. Turns out writing for Deku is a surprisingly pleasant and cozy experience. So I certainly donât mind expanding on your idea if thatâs alright with you! :)
BNHA Headcanons: Midoriya Izuku as a loving boyfriend
Featuring Deku and a reader on the receiving end of his acts of love. Just some fluff ideas.
Once Deku finds a source of interest, he will research it to exhaustion. His humble notebook of rushed scribbles or detailed documentation is a black hole of information with no visible end in sight. Naturally, this habit of his will extend to his loved ones. Especially you. Knowing everything about his significant other is only common sense. Your likes, dislikes, hobbies, opinionsâŠAll the traits that youâre comprised of have been dutifully compiled on paper, and Deku will treat this manuscript like his own little Holy Book.
It is to be noted, however, that heâs not just a hoarder. All these facts are not kept around out of mere idleness. More than anything, Deku loves to see your smile. Itâs particularly addicting, more so if heâs the cause of it. Thus he will do everything in his powers to entertain you and guarantee a bright expression on your face.
His main love languages are acts of service and gift giving. He doesnât need special occasions to shower you with little gestures of affection. Itâs not even an active effort per se. He will be shopping for groceries and notice your favorite soda is back in stock, swiftly adding it to his cart. Heâll learn your favorite artist is in town, so heâll carefully check your schedule and buy tickets ahead. He knows you have an upcoming exam that stresses you terribly, so heâll arrange a review session shortly beforehand with handmade flashcards and summaries to help you remember key aspects.
One could say itâs his nature to be attentive. For the longest time heâs been an outcast, standing in the audience and solely observing the others. The heroes on stage. Even as his turn came to step up into the spotlight, his introversion and introspection have continued to polish his skill of reading people to perfection. The slightest twist of your mouth will offer him everything he needs to know about your mood.
Safe to say Izuku, of course, doesnât expect anything in return. Heâs doing it out of his pure, unadulterated love for you. Although if he must be honest, your reactions to his surprises do leave him chasing for more. Last time it happened, he almost teared up wiping the lip stains you left on his face. Gazing at his reflection in the mirror, Deku couldnât help the pride swelling up his chest. He wouldâve loved to parade U.A. like this, letting everyone know about his undeniable bond with you. Sadly, heâs much too anxious for that kind of attention. Worry not, they shall live on in his memory.
