I believe that Jonathan actually sensed Dracula among the large, busy Picaddily crowd. And it may be because Jonathan got marked and drunk on by Dracula.

Jonathan sensed him stalking a new victim, but not the other way around. Dracula was too focused on his new target (something that Jonathan also does when he has a set goal) to notice him staring, or Mina (whom Dracula saw often at Whitby).

I also think that this isn't the first time Jonathan has sensed Dracula.

On August 11 night, Dracula attacks Lucy (and he sees Mina, and Mina him) for the first time.

On August 12, Jonathan has now broken his six-week delirium-induced silence, has remembered where "home" is (he couldn't remember where it was since he had arrived in Kalusenberg weeks ago), and sends word to Mina from the Budapest hospital.

And now Jonathan, who only saw Dracula as an old man, and right at the end as a middle-aged man, recognizes the young-looking Count instantly.

He looks several decades younger, dressed differently in a London outfit, but Jonathan still has no doubt. It's him. The man himself.

And he's targeting a new person because of Jonathan's visit. Like when he had stolen Jonathan's clothes. "If only I knew..."

Author Note: So, I’ve actually had this ready to go since about February but I was scared to post it because I wasn’t sure how it would be received. First and foremost, I’m a tentoo/rose shipper. I believe she choose him on that beach. I believe he was, unequivocally, the best ending for her. The only ending for her.

That being said, I wanted to write something…different to that. I wanted to explore the more convoluted side of it; the grief, the confusion of having your love suddenly split between two men, not getting to say goodbye to the other doctor. I wanted to write them working through it, coming together, finding out what their future holds together. It starts off rough, but by the end of chapter 1 it’s already better between them. It’s tentoo/rose all the way and the (time lord) tenth doctor is not in this fic.

I will defend tentoo until the ends of the earth. Promise. Trust me on this. The Rough™️ patch is only like….the first half of chapter one.

I posted this now because a) I’m bed bound with a chronic illness and literally have nothing better to do and i need cheering up and b) i saw it was @tentoorosemonth2024 and thought……..better do it now or i never will.

Ok I know from an animator’s perspective having everyone in those spots made it easiest to arrange the scene so everyone was visible but I can’t stop laughing cause to me this just really looks like short people versus tall

To soothe the pain, love, while I don't believe the Doctor - that is 1-12, the others might - ever SAID 'I love you' to River, I am convinced they taught her Gallifreyan just so she'd understand they kept tracing 'I love you' onto the back of her hand at random moments

Awwh! :’) I love the idea of the Doctor randomly tracing Gallifreyan on her skin to express all the things that they can’t say! I’d sort of thought River knew Gallifreyan instinctually with it on the TARDIS screens, but with her connection to the TARDIS being so inherent, maybe there’s no need.

…but now I’m imagining River recognizing (with their lives out of order), that the shapes he’s tracing are Gallifreyan circles. And maybe she’d connect the dots and study Gallifreyan on her own. And then she would understand what he’s writing — and start to take it wrong that he’s writing it but doesn’t have the guts to actually tell her, and she would overthink forever but not actually ask him…

Until the Doctor notices asks why she’s being cold — and then she tells him — and he says he thought she already knew—

(Crying and hugging ensues.)
