Also I love the interaction between Odd Ball and Obi-Wan during the battle of Teth, where Obi-Wan saves him from those vulture droids and he's like, "Sorry I panicked" and Obi-Wan replies with "That's alright, Odd Ball. It happens to everybody." and I will never be NOT okay about that 😭 Clones are only human and the people in Star Wars tend to forget this too often (not Obi-Wan tho)

Davijaan „Odd Ball“ appreciation! Did you notice this badass pilot got a cameo in The Clone Wars season 6 episode 3 during the Fives arc and in his short scene this poor hero instantly got roughed up by Fives on his escape from the Kaminoans? 👀 You can recognize him by the helmet markings.

He fought in several battles in key position as starfighter pilot like in the first battle of Geonosis, the battle of Teth, Umbara, Cato Neimoidia, Coruscant and Utapau and in my opinion he‘s one of the underrated clones!

And does anybody knows why he got the callsign ‚Odd Ball‘? I headcanon him as insecure, rough and calm nice guy who doesn���t have an easy time with his brothers mocking him! I think he deserves some love and look at him in this nice pilot design! ✨😎

I wanted to thank independant_variables who helped me write Saltwater, by feeding their love for CC-2237, aka Davijaan, and his best-brother bond with CC-2224, aka Cody.

You can find those two most notably in Prince with a Thousands Ennemies and hope has bloody knuckles, both of which I cannot recommend enough.

More info about clone medic OC Bones below. He seems to be a fandom character and I'm definitely not claiming him as my own. This is more my interpretation of him as he appears in this fic.

To my eternal chagrin, there is no named medic for the 212th. So I had to make one up. His name is Bones and he is pretty much just Bones from Star Trek. It’s not very original and I’m sure plenty of people have done this before but I needed a medic for the 212th so here he is. He’s the CMO of the 212th and is equal parts grumpy and terrifying, wields hypos and scanners with a vengeance, subsists on caff and spite, and cares about his vode but is deeply tired of their nonsense. He’s a little protective of Splint (shiny medic OC) but will strenuously deny it.

Davijaan & Cody: besties. constantly complaining about everything with each other. will hype the other up and threaten others to do the same. ride or dies, except when it comes to the blame game. argue a lot, but it only makes their friendship stronger.

Stone & Cody: exhausted "mean" loner duo that doesn't care to let people know the other exists. estranged best friends that only see each other five times a year, and those times are spent in total silence. don't attempt to speak to them when they're together, you will be ignored. competing with each other but nobody knows what about.

Hound & Ahsoka: the kids that had to be separated in class because they would always goof off and be loud about it. roleplay as wolves and will bite people. every episode of Jackass is taken as a guide, helmets were invented because of these two.

Thire & Padme: gossip queens, no secrets between them. TMI = Tell Me Immediately. close enough to cause rumors/scandals if they were public about their affection. would break the other out of prison but while insulting their outfit the entire time. would go through hell and back for each other and call it a girls' trip.

Mace & Fox: two grandpas that insult each other while sitting on the porch while everyone else swears they're friends. somehow always a game of spades with a drink when seen together. will give you false advice and chuckle silently when you fail, and then probably ten dollars to go buy something for them.

Thorn & Neyo: friends only in the way brothers who tried to kill each other their entire childhood can be. which is to say they are not. frequently creating rube goldberg style traps to hurt each other (because killing each other would mean more chaos within their jobs). forged in the depths of hater nation, will only accept death if it's the other killing them. get confused as actual friends by some simply because they came from the same batch.

Keeli & Rex: chillest buddies ever. will do even the most dangerous/intense things with a relaxed expression if together, love lazing around with each other and escaping duties by hiding in each other's rooms. always laughing, eating, or sleeping. hundreds of inside jokes, probably a secret handshake too.

I am going to answer all of these because they bring me joy and because I have many opinions XD

9: Anakin killing the Tuskens. Just. I'm not upset about Anakin killing people I am upset that Lucus had him kill these specific people in this specific way for these specific reasons. Like. Come on Lucus. You're the one who showed your ass, not Anakin.

10: Oh boy. Worst part of fanon hands down is the tendency to strip away what little complexity canon gives to the clones. Sure, canon doesn't do a fantastic job with them, but there are Themes and there are Character Arcs and there are situations where the clones are in conflict with the Jedi and when they are in conflict with each other. A lot of fanon tends to ignore that and flatten the clones into a monolith.

14: One thing I see in fics all the time is Cody and Wolffe and Fox and Bly and Ponds as batchmates, with Rex as their collective baby brother. I don't know why. This is not negative or positive it's just something I see a lot that I don't really understand. It's usually sweet. I guess some fic with this hc got popular and other people started writing it?

16: I answered this in another ask but I'm gonna answer it again because there are many things are popular that baffle me. Mando clones. Like, fully embracing being Mandalorian as a community and using Mando'a fluently and respecting all these traditions and beliefs. I have written Mando clones! But I have also written non-Mando clones. And the more I think about it and write about it and look for fic that does not use Mando'a the more I wonder why this is so popular that it's virtually inescapable. Clones wanting to be Mando and wanting to have this culture and this language that could or maybe should have been theirs is one thing, exploring the complexities of what could be called a diaspora is one thing, but I have read a lot of fic where the clones are written as basically Mandalorians who just kinda happen to be in this situation serving the Jedi and it. Hm. Yeah Jedi and Mando parallels are cool but that's not. That's not who the clones are. That is not the role they serve in the narrative. Why are so many people writing the clones as straight up Mandalorians?

17: There should be more fic where Cody and Obi-Wan are not friends. That is all.

18: Davijaan. It's Davijaan it's always gonna be Davijaan I am always gonna be sad that my dude has so few fans. He's so great guys. He's a pilot and he doesn't paint his armor and he's in the background of more scenes than you would think. But jokes aside this applies to all the clone characters who are just there for a few scenes and get forgotten. Fandom shaped Fox and his two minutes of screentime into something great why can't we do that with Boost and Longshot and Hawk and Appo? All these minor characters with so much potential.

21: I said TCW show in another ask and I guess I kinda stand by that, a lot of lists say it's something that needs to be watched but honestly I don't think that's the case. I don't know. I think by and large most SW fans are pretty realistic about the quality of this canon XD

22: So there are two short scenes (if I recall correctly) where they are brought up, but the clones have identification chips in their wrists. I have seen one other fic besides mine even touch that. It's so-- there is so much there, so much to explore in regards to autonomy and personhood and the logistics of desertion. And it adds so much context to the Chip Arc. Of course Rex and Anakin and Windu and Shaak Ti were totally unphased when Fives said the clones had a chip in their head. They already had a chip in their wrist, what's one more? I wouldn't say it's my favorite part exactly but it's... I guess it's another thing fandom is sleeping on. Something from canon that adds a lot of meaning to the story for me, but that nobody else seems to even acknowledge.

Three days later, Uniform Code 690-1 is repealed, and Cody Names himself the same day.

Round the tap-tank talk has a plethora of wild hypotheses for Jango Fett’s sudden, unforeseen, completely miraculous change of heart and of policy. Almost everyone agrees that it’s connected to his public disavowal that the clones reflect him in any manner other than genetic. That nurture was ascendant over nature, and that the Kaminoans and trainers had done a very good job shaping his template into distortions he himself never would have chosen or achieved.

Cody has nothing to say about it, and Davijaan sees the careful way he talks around the topic.

He knows, too, that confronting his brother directly about it will not get him the answers he wants.

Last Song: Belly Dancer. Someone made a gif of clones dancing to it and I'm obssessed with it. I'm hoping the stars will align, a miracle will occurs and someone, somewhere, will make a 3 minutes vid of clones Just Having Fun dancing at '79.

Last Movie: Avatar 2. There was so many stories happening. They drown each other out and the Main Story loose strengh because of it. Pretty, of course, but all over the place.

Currently reading: I think you need to read Prince with a Thousands Ennemies first, to truly appreciate it, but its not necessary.

I just recommend PwaTE to anyone who even remotely likes clones. This, too.
