Having fluctuating symptoms is valid
Not understanding your symptoms is valid
Feeling like your symptoms have gotten worse is valid
Having your symptoms get worse is valid
Feeling like your faking your symptoms is valid and happens to so many people all the time
Symptoms are not a fixed feeling. They can get worse and they can get better both experiences are valid.

here is your reminder that all trauma is valid.
trauma is to do with how our brains process (or don't process) memories and experiences and that if something is traumatic for you then that is trauma.
it doesn't matter if you or someone else thinks it should be significant or not or if someone else went through the same thing and wasn't impacted by it. what matters is if it's significant to you and how it impacted you.
a huge part of recovering from trauma is allowing yourself to accept that you had it in the first place.
#I've been seeing a trauma informed therapist and its very enlightening#i spent so long denying that i had any form of trauma despite having all the symptoms because I've never experienced anything *that bad*#but it doesn't have to be one thing even. it can be a lot of little things that build up.#it doesn't matter if someone else went through the same thing and wasn't impacted by it. you where.#adhd#trauma#recovery#love letters to you

#futaba sakura#persona 5#p5r#p5#fanart#futabadoodles#chat i am SO losing it#went to get diagnosed w adhd wasnt diagnosed because and i quote “it could be anxiety” omfg#neurotypical psychiatrists especially white ones die in a hole 🥰#also because i “wasnt struggling enough”#like hi so i have this thing called emotional intelligence a good support system and access to coping skills hope that helps!#god forbid a neurodivergent person has tools to manage their condition and isnt in hell everyday i guess!#hate her ass!!!!!!!#i wasnt looking to get diagnosed for medication or support bc i already use a lot of like adhd specific supports and shit#and w accommodations my anxiety diagnosis can cover what i need for the most part so it was rlly just a validation/confirmation thing#like idk yeah. i am managing. im not particularly struggling. because ive been selfdx for a while and have implemented changes in my life#and i happen to be in a very very good place rn and im very lucky. so like. ???#rlly felt like “you have all the symptoms but youre not struggling enough with anything to be able to diagnose ypu” ok thanks fuck you#cuz ppl w adhd can manage being unmedicated by choice i js wasnt officially diagnosed before i guess its deemed “okay” to not live in hell!#dunno im frustrated. i have difficulties but i manage them well and i am very lucky to live an easy life for now so like 😭??

Did you kNoW?
Stimulants affect people with ADHD differently because our brains are not processing the naturally produced dopamine as effectively as a neurotypical brain would. The stimulant helps boost us to a 'normal' feeling level.
This is why when a neurotypical person takes ADHD medication they have extreme bursts of productivity and write their thesis in one night or I dunno remodel their house, while an ADHD person might just take them and be like 'Hooray I managed to wash my clothes and hang them up in the same day!'
Jokes on them though, because I can drink coffee at 11pm and sleep right after. Take that society.

seven whole years after my adhd diagnosis, where the specialist told me that i couldn't possibly be autistic too because i'm ✨capable of empathy✨, i've finally been referred for an autism assessment 🥹
##i mean. the assessment might be literally years away and might not diagnose me#but yay#the gp was like “um ok yes i think they would diagnose you with autism based on these symptoms”#and that's probably the best thing a gp has ever said to me hahaha#it took me ages to just get this gp appointment and i went in fully prepared to have to fight my corner#i had such an awful time even getting referred for adhd#what a low bar we've set huh. that i'm so impressed with a gp not gaslighting me and actually listening to me

me: finally accepting theres a good chance im autistic and starting to work up the courage to ask my parents to see if i could get a diagnoses but being scared to
my mom: do you ever think you have adhd? if you want to do a screening for add next time your at the doctors you can
me:
#for context im terrified of being the person who sees stuff online and diagnosis themselves and then is wrong#which is why it took me so long to accept im —probably— autistic (bc now i have done research and stuff for it)#and id see adhd things that were relatable but i felt i related more to the autism + self diagnosing both felt weird (for me not in general#but now like. my mom is willing to accept i might have add??#(there was a long talk in between her asking if i ever thought i had it and her saying i could get a screening where we both agreed that#—if i did have it— i didnt have the hyperactive part. hence the add vs adhd thing)#and now that kinda through off my plans because like. what if i do also had adhd. or something#so yeah small crisis woo#i need to actually look i to symptoms and stuff for adhd though#because im not saying anything til i know more about it and if i actually do have a lot of the things#but this also gives me a chance go write about the autism things as well bc i told my mom i would look into the adhd#so now i can hopefully find a way to bring that up#ive mentioned that autism is a spectrum recently which i didnt think she knew before#so progress i guess#wow long rant in the tags whoops#jasper’s posts#moots have some jaz lore i guess

the funny thing about being a young woman with both autism and adhd is the fact that like. It feels like I want the reverse of society sometimes. I don’t think my autism is a problem, I don’t think it hurts (in the long run/long view) my interactions with human being, and I don’t want it to go away, and I certainly don’t want a cure. but my adhd? hell yeah. I hate it. I love my drugs that make the symptoms go away. And the thing is, it’s been imho my adhd that’s been a massive problem with human interaction - not that I don’t get hyper focused and go on lone spiels and get fixated while I’m on my meds, because I do, but I can’t emphasize the living hell of not being able to focus seriously on what other people are saying while they’re speaking, and how genuinely self focused it can make you feel to always be mentally rushing on to the next thing YOURE going to say - and knowing that that’s not even a Them specific issue, but something you do to the radio and news. it’s just interesting I guess there’s been so much focus on what autism can do to interactions and human relationships, which I think I had some issues with as a child, yet afaik I haven’t seen nearly the focus on how isolating adhd can be to meaningful conversations and friendships, and to productivity (not in the capitalist Productive worker Way in the I Would Like to be Able to Do Things with my Life kinda way), and that right, like I just said, productivity isn’t just your ability to do a paid job but also to do your own dishes, make dinner, listen to music, and feel like a human being. I don’t feel like my autism is a problem to me but I do feel like my adhd is and like the things that help me not feel the symptoms
#Usually I take Saturday off my meds but I didn’t today because I’m coming off this cold and I did Not want the#Double whammy of cold symptoms and day off my meds symptoms#Just like there’s this feeling of how they’re both Problems#But autism is a problem to be fixed for everyone and adhd is a problem people need to jsut buckle down and get Through#And idk. Like. This is absolutely something that’s very different for different people because there are different types of autism and a#And adhd and different experiences#But I cannot emphasize enough how much adhd meds helped with other things like sleep and stabilizing my weight and mood

I don’t know if this was a miss from nora or if it’s meant to show how scatterbrained jeremy is?
Page 368 in TSC
“Can you tell me about France?”
“No,” Jean said, and the disappointed look that flickered across Jeremy’s face sent a jagged prickle through his veins. He should leave it at that; he needed to leave it at that. Instead he said, “I don’t want to talk about home. I wouldn’t trust my memories, anyway. I came to America when I was fourteen, but five years in Raven time are a lifetime.”
It was closer to seven and a half years in his head, but if Jean spelled it out like that, he knew what Jeremy would say. The look on Jeremy’s face said discretion hadn’t saved him, and Jean stepped forward like he could leave this conversation behind.
Jeremy kept pace. “That’s what I don’t get about you,” he admitted quietly. “This heinous crime was committed against you, against all of you, but you’re not angry about it. I mean, you’re angry at the little things, but not about what really matters. Coach Moriyama never should have put you through this.”
So he’s distraught but he doesn’t address it. But then page 465:
“It has been toward for five years,” Jean said, looking past Jeremy at the scrimmage that was still going on without them. “It is not that easy to undo.”
Jeremy frowned at him and echoed, “Five? You were only with the Ravens for three.”
“I moved into Evermore two years before I enrolled,” Jean said, and hauled Jeremy to one side.
#I mean maybe I’m overthinking#probably#I do feel like jeremy has adhd symptoms though unless I’m projecting again#maybe I’m hoping cause I always wrote him with adhd before TSC#all for the game#aftg#jean moreau#the sunshine court#jeremy knox#jerejean

One of the symptons of ADHD is emotional dysregulation MEANING I get to tell people "I love you so much I need pills to manage it".

since autism often involves strict planning and routine whereas adhd often cannot function under such plans and routines, do audhd people have two wolves inside them who are constantly fighting like. "we NEED a plan" and "there will be NO PLAN or there will be NO MOTIVATION"
#i'm autistic and on the strict planning side#so even though this is a joke i'm also genuinely curious how this works#since the symptoms are contradictory yet adhd and autism often go together#autism#its 1 am guys im too tired to articulate it#adhd#audhd#neurodivergence#neurodiversity#neurodivergent#neurodiverse stuff#self diagnosed autism#self diagnosed adhd#self diagnosis
