Maybe it’s because I just spent the last four days watching my sister’s toddlers while mildly sleep deprived, but I gotta say Peri has PEAK “childfree young adult who was the youngest person in their family naively volunteers to watch recalcitrant child assuming they’d automatically be The Cool Adult Relative only to realize they have no idea how to balance being indulgent with being responsible and gets overwhelmed within five minutes” energy
10/10 I have never felt so seen by a cartoon before
Gordon/Barney/Alyx is really really funny to me conceptually bc it's like, two hot geniuses in their 20s who look at the 40-something smartass who hangs around and go 'yeah that guy. we both want him carnally'
While I can't speak for other Alastor ships (but I'll tag you all and you can weigh in). But in the RadioApple/DuckieDeer fandom a lot of those making fanwork, including the smuttier stuff, are acespec/arospec themselves so maybe learn what is actually going on in these fandoms before try to gatekeep in their tags
So I was collecting lawlu clips from the movies, and stampede has a few *nice moments*, what struck me is the difference between Hancock's lines, and Law's lines as well, and Luffy's reaction to them between the languages
In the english dub, Hancock has to ask Luffy to look at her, while Luffy perks up immediately at seeing Law
Japanese!Law: "No need to worry about me."
English!Law, being a little shit lol: "I'll be better when this is done"
Fandom Gripe #23: I know that fandom is in some deep denial about its treatment of female characters that are canonically involved with fan favorite m/m ships, but do y’all realize that when you disappear female characters from the narrative wholesale to push the idea that your canonically straight fav was “secretly gay all along!” you’re making several bad implications? That 1) bi men don’t exist, 2) bi men do exist, but those who have genuinely loved a woman before cannot genuinely love a man after that (therefore bi men don’t exist in practice), 3) women cannot inspire genuine love and devotion in men, therefore any relationship with a woman is “lesser” than the one they later have a man (see previous parenthesis), or 4) to acknowledge the existence of a lovable woman who isn’t a terrible person, where if a relationship previously existed, it did not end because of “incompatibility,” is enough to destabilize the present relationship between two queer men?
Because why is the tgcf fandom allergic to acknowledging that He Xuan had a whole ass fiancée that he loved? Why does no one ever seem to remember that the kidnappings and murders of He Xuan’s sister and fiancée were the final straws that sent him on his rampage, and he still keeps a shrine to them in the present-day of the story? Why is her entire existence and significance to He Xuan as a man, character, and to his character arc disappeared in favor of pushing Shi Qingxuan—the brother of the man responsible for his fiancée’s death—into that same role, as if to say that her impact on He Xuan is significant... just not when it's from her? Why does He Xuan’s life in fandom essentially begin not just after her death but because of it?
Headcanon: Zep Hindle’s actual first name is Shepard or “Shep” for short (and that’s how he introduces himself). Someone in the hospital started to jokingly call him “Zep” since he was an orderly (or as they might see him, a glorified janitor) and was using the the Zep cleaner pretty frequently. The joke became so pervasive that by the time the movie rolls around, no one even thinks about it anymore and just assume that’s his name
I know that in later films his file is labeled as “Zep Hindle” implying that’s his legal name, but these are the same films that have stuff like “D. Hoffman” and characters sharing the same finger print profiles, so I think it’s okay to throw this little detail out lol I feel like the intention of the first movie is that Zep is not his first name as shown by the line “Or as they called you around the hospital, Zep.” As another pointed out recently in the tag, this is such an odd thing to say if his name was well and truly Zep
Additionally, it makes Zep’s butting in of “He’s a very interesting person. His name is John” a bit more telling. Like, he see Dr. Gordon simply referring to John as “the patient” and stripping him of his life outside the confines of the hospital, just like the name “Zep” has stripped him of his identity outside of his job as orderly. I just think that’s an interesting angle to think about things!
[ID: A digital illustration of Sissel from Ghost Trick. He is shown from a lower angle, as if the viewer were looking up at him. He has a hand close to the viewer and clutching a glowing soul core. His other hand is in his pocket, and he has a serious expression on his face. The background is the clock that appears when you time travel in the game, consisting of a glowing red clock face and glowing red lines radiating from it on a black background. The art style mimics that of the game’s, with sharp black lines and shading. The color palette is mostly red, with some light blue radiating from the soul. The artist’s signature “sunnfish 2023” is written on his leg. /End ID]
