Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast." Sahih al-Bukhari 1957 In-book reference : Book 30, Hadith 64 Sahih Muslim 1098a (https://sunnah.com/muslim:1098a) In-book reference : Book 13, Hadith 60
…because by doing so they are preserving the Sunnah. If they do not do this and they delay the break of the fast, then this will be a proof that goodness has been removed from them for abandoning the Sunnah of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) upon which he has left his Ummah and to which he has ordered them to adhere. Fasting Monday and Thursday
The Prophet (ﷺ) said;
‘‘Deeds are shown (to Allāh) on Mondays and Thursdays, and I like my deeds to be shown when I am fasting.”
The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said:
Indeed your Lord said: ‘Every good deed is rewarded with ten of the same up to seven hundred times over, except for fasting. Fasting is for Me, and I shall reward for it.’
It was said by Imam al-Hasan al-Basri (رحمه الله);
“The best season to a believer is the winter, its nights are long for those who wish to pray, and its days are short for those who wish to fast.”
[al-Tirmidhi, 747; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 1041]

Fasting on ‘Ashura (10th Of Muharram)
(In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful).
Introduction
We are in Muharram, the first month of the Hijri Calendar, 1445 A.H. It is a sacred month and the Prophet ﷺ used to fast a lot in this month. One of these days that the Prophet ﷺ used to fast is the Day of ‘Ashura (the 10th Day of Muharram).
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) so keen to make sure he fasted any day and preferring it over another except this day,the day of ‘Ashoora’, and this month – meaning Ramadaan.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2006.
Why did the Prophet ﷺ fast on ‘Ashura
Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to Madeenah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of ‘Ashoora’.
He said, “What is this?”
They said, “This is a good day, this is the day when Allaah saved the Children of Israel from their enemy and Moosa fasted on this day.”
He said, “We are closer to Moosa than you.” So he fasted on this day and told the people to fast.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (2004)
Virtues for fasting on ‘Ashura
Fasting on ‘Ashura expiates the (minor) sins of the past year.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
Fasting the day of ‘Arafah I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year before it and the year after it, and fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year that came before it.
Narrated by Muslim, 1162
How to fast ‘Ashura
It is recommended when fasting ‘Ashura to also fast Taasua’ (the 9th Day of Muharram).
‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted on the day of ‘Ashoora and told the people to fast, they said, “O Messenger of Allaah, this is a day that is venerated by the Jews and Christians.” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Next year, if Allaah wills, we will fast on the ninth day.” But by the time the following year came, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had passed away.
Narrated by Muslim, 1134.
Important Note:
Fasting Taasua and ‘Ashura is recommended but not obligatory.
This year Taasua and ‘Ashura will be on Thursday 27th July and Friday 28th July, 2023.*
* Dates may vary based on local moonsighting.

Whoever gives Iftar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the fasting person's reward in the slightest.

▪️Dua for Breaking the Fast▪️
Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:
📥 *Question:*
Is there a specific dua for when one is breaking his fast?
📤 Answer:
There has come some hadiths that mention that, like the hadith:
Which translates to:
"Thirst has gone, the arteries are moist, and the reward is sure, if Allah wills."
But this hadith is not authentic. So it is not correct to say this dua when one is breaking his fast. If one intends to eat after fasting he simply says, Bismillah. And after he has finished eating he says, Alhamdulilah.
And if Allah has allowed the servant to complete his fast this leads him to his happiness at the time of him breaking his fast. As the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The servant has two happinesses from fasting, one at the time of breaking his fast and one when he meets his Lord.
And Allah knows best.

REMINDER FOR SUNNAH FASTING!
Tomorrow is Monday. Please, endeavour to fast and remind others. Fasting twice a week (i.e Monday and Thursday) helps keep our faith strong and our desires under control. It also keeps us more conscious of Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala). This is the formula for success given to us by our beloved prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
✔️'Ā'ishah (R.A.) said, "The Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him) used to take care to fast on Mondays and Thursdays." (at-Tirmidhi)
➖The Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said, "Deeds of people are presented (to Allāh) on Mondays and Thursdays. So I like that my actions be presented while I am fasting." (Tirmidhi)
➖"The prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) was keen to fast every Monday and Thursday." (Tirmidhi)
➖The prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said, "He who loves my Sunnah has loved me, and he who loves me will be with me in Paradise." (at-Tirmidhi)
✔️Fasting is only 1% of not eating and drinking, the rest of the 99% is bringing your heart and soul close to Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala).
➖Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala) says: "Every good deed of the son of Ādam is for him except FASTING, for it is for me and I will reward it." (Bukhari and Muslim)
HEALTH BENEFITS OF FASTING
➖It gives the digestive system a rest.
➖It can help you beat addiction.
➖It is a great way to start a healthy diet.
➖It nomalizes insulin sensitivity.
➖It can reduce your hunger levels.
➖It promotes the detoxification process.
➖It whitens the eyes and clears the complexion.
➖It can reduce high blood pressure.
➖It can boost the immune system.
May Allāh make it easy for us and accept it as an act of Ibadah (worship).

Know that in the month of Ramadhan, the believer has two types of Jihad of the Nafs (self): Jihad (striving) during the day upon fasting and Jihad (striving) during the night upon Qiyam (night prayers). Whoever combines together these two Jihaad, fulfills their *rights* and is patient upon them, will receive its reward without account. (Lataa'iful Ma'arif, by Ibn Rajab)

PROPHET TODOS List before sleeping
Hadith Lesson: Perform ablution before sleeping like that for the prayer. Lie on your right side when going to bed. Recite the supplication: “Allahumma aslamtu wajhi ilaika…” (O Allah! I surrender to you…) Entrust all your affairs to Allah and depend on Him for blessings, with hope and fear. Acknowledge there is no fleeing from Allah and no place of safety except with Him. as a women its common that we miss fasts due to our periods and winter time is a great time to make them up as magrib is so early
or even if you just to fast because you feel like it or if you are struggling with something in life whether it be depression or over eating, fasting is a good option
wake up a little earlier for fajr or if you pray tahajjud wake up 30 ish minutes before fajr and do wudu, have some water and something to eat
i find it hard to eat at that time so dates and grapes work for me, do your intention:
Allalumma asumu laka fagh fir-li ma qad-damtu wa-ma akh-khartu
O Allah! I shall fast for Your sake, so forgive my future and past sins.
i know there are certain days where you shohld fast but i prefer weekends as i work mon-fri
inshallah when ramadan comes around allah will give us all the strength to fast whilst working etc
