while i did a gifset to showcase an armour set, i was also intrigued by just how different the animation is for the wizard class vs gale's unique animation:
wizard class animation
Tumblr media
gale's unique animation
Tumblr media
it's amazing to see not only just how quickly gale performs the somatic component of the spell, but also his efficiency of movement compared to the standard wizard animation.
there's a world of difference here, the difference between a wizard vs a prodigy, an archwizard and chosen.

Oh, god. I understand now. This look Aziraphale has right after Crowley kissed him. I didn't understand why he'd look disgusted when we as the audience know that their feelings are mutual, and as Neil hinted, they both wanted to confess in this episode, but the Metatron changed that. "Do it again."

#i think this scene is so interesting and speaks to why i get so annoyed by the 'any portrayal of astarion#as having an degree of a conscience or goodness in him is stupid and woobifying. hes chaotic evil and thats IT' thing#the grief and guilt. the way he tries to talk himself into it. the way he removes HIS OWN autonomy to do it. pretends theres no other choic#esp in the context of other moments where he preens when hes called good. he LIKES being smth other than what cazador made him#but hes so SCARED. he spends this dialogue talking himself into killing them and he HAS to talk himself into it BECAUSE this kind of evil#isnt easy to him despite it all. theres still scraps of a conscience there yknow? and he hides it from himself by pretending hes less free#astarion is fun BECAUSE hes weird and contradictory and a bad person with the capacity 4 good. BECAUSE he doesnt know what he actually want#also i love the idea of him in this moment rly thinking abt the player....like whether theyre friends or romances#a player whos been really kind and loving to him...kept him safe....trusted him....#thinking about how they let their guard down for him and how in his old life THIS would have been the life#hed been damning them to....years and centuries in a tiny cage somehow even worse than his

When I first watched this episode, I was very confused about Lestat's motivations for being at the trial. During Claudia's execution, I kept thinking, why isn't he moving? Just do something. Help her.
I understand now that Lestat, at this point, is much weaker than usual for reasons that haven't yet been fully explored. From interviews with Sam Reid, I also learned that there was no way Lestat would miss this trial. However, Lestat isn't a planner—he arrived, memorized his lines, yet was utterly unprepared for what was about to unfold. The only thing he knew for sure was that he was going to save Louis. That was his sole plan.
When Claudia says, "It's never been about me," you can see the guilt and shame in Lestat's eyes. Yet, when she announces her plan to kill everyone in the crowd after her death, he's staring at her with pride.
I believe Lestat did a lot of reflecting while in his coffin, pondering how he ended up in this situation and what led his fledglings to turn against him. I think he was actually proud of Claudia for successfully orchestrating his murder. She outsmarted him, and he had entirely underestimated her. This final act of violence made them equals in his eyes.
However, I don't think Lestat ever truly saw himself as a 'father.' He had no example of good parenting in his human life and this had no idea how to treat a child. From the beginning, he was referred to as Uncle Les while Louis took on the paternal role. Then, when Claudia became an adult, Lestat was forced to regard her as a sister.
The idea that someone could look to him as a father wasn't even conceivable to Lestat. In Claudia's final moments, when she looks to him like a child looks to a parent for help, it is horrifying on so many levels. It shocks him to his core when he realizes that he is her father and that he's letting her die right before his eyes. And even worse, Claudia was right—it was never about her.

I SLOWED IT DOWN! Yes the quality is poor but because we are working with the king of micro expression, I had to try to slow it down.
SOOO here it is. With a few dot points 😉
Tumblr media
1. Crowley has such a soft expression on in this moment. No anger, no fury, just desperate love.
2. Watch Aziraphles face! He is clearly hurt and upset but the MOMENT he locks eyes with Crowley he sorts, still sad but there is a change, a moment of realisation of what is about to happen. Something he has wanted for a long time
3. You can see him straight up and lean in towards Crowley before they kiss. He was ready for that next move.
4. Once their lips meet, his face is not one of shock or discomfort. It's the face of pure bliss! His eyebrows soften and he kisses Crowley back! (Kissing David is everything you could ever dream of ~ Michael sheen)
5. They both soften their faces into it. Both finally getting to do what they truly wanted, if only for a moment.
6. This is not a rough kiss, it may look it but you can see Crowley pulls back slightly to soften it, he wasn't expecting the kiss to be reciprocated so he had to soften his touch. He would never risk hurting Aziraphale like that, especially not with something this important.
7. Not pictured is the hand grabbing his back! Aziraphale is fighting so hard not to throw away all his worry and enjoy it. He wants to be lost in the moment but he can't be because he is being watched by the metacockblocker!
Normal speed. No need for it to be here, I just love this scene.

90 minutes….. to wrap it ALL up… will any of the reveals be satisfying? How much will we be missing out on from the original scripts?.. To say I’m devasted is an understatement. We, the fans, deserved so much more. I am happy we will see a canonical ending, but I’m sad and I just want to read the scripts from those original 6 episodes if I’m being honest.
EDIT: Im so thankful for whatever the hell Rob and Rhianna had to do to get us ANYTHING. My frustrations are directed to one man (derogatory) specifically. We had a S3 renewal confirmation and 6 completed episode scripts before the allegations came out and it tanked the entire production. Not even beginning to mention the victims but, how many people’s incomes were affected by this near cancellation and the now reduced run time? All because of one guy.

so you're anthony j. crowley, long-time exile from heaven and recent exile from hell, and you've finally figured out that the mess of overwhelming and infuriating and intoxicating feelings you've been harboring for the only being in the universe you've ever been able to rely on might, whoopsies, be something a little bit like love. but not love the way you remember heaven loved you, or the way they told you god loved you (they lied), but love like the humans do it: messy, and awkward, and incongruously infinite, and so, so fragile.
and, well. okay, you think. this'll be horrible. embarrassing for both of us, probably. but i'll tell him. you've never been a coward, no matter what the other demons might say. screw your courage to the sticking place, or whatever. macbeth. aziraphale loved that one.
so you talk yourself into it, you gather every scrap of courage and honesty you've got left, and you say, all right, angel, i've got something to say, only aziraphale's got something to say, too, and--
aziraphale doesn't love you back.
or. he does, but he loves the ghost of the angel you used to be, not the person you've made yourself since. he loves you, but he loves you like god did--loves you good, and quiet, and dull. he loves you without your grief, or your anger, without even that first bite of the apple. he wants you like that again, he says. defanged, like the Antichrist's domesticated hellhound.
(you worked for hell for a long time, and for god for a long time before that. you're intimately familiar with what it is to offer someone everything they've ever wanted, and then to twist it, to mutilate it, into an unrecognizable hell of their own choosing. you're not sure why it surprises you anymore. you're not sure why you keep letting the surprises hurt.)
and so you do the thing you've done since the beginning, because you've never been able to stop yourself: you push. you push hard, and you grab him, and he's so angry and you kiss him and you don't think about it, don't think about it, this is the most important temptation of your life, the only one that's ever mattered--
and he forgives you.
so you leave. at least that way you can do it before he does. you've always been a step ahead and to the left; stupid to think this would ever be different. stupid to think he might choose you, with all of heaven and earth spread out in front of him. nothing lasts forever, not even the stars.
he told you that a long time ago.

I still can’t get over that we got a shot of this.
Of Shax watching as Crowley goes up the elevator to Heaven.
Tumblr media
It feels like such an overlooked moment because yes,
It emboldened her in her attack on the bookshop now that it was just Aziraphale
but also,
She now knows a demon can get into Heaven through the elevator she just used to come up from Hell.
And just the way we linger on this shot, hell ep.5 ends with it. It feels a bit more significant than we give it credit for, the implications it may have on next season.
Demons able to get into Heaven, if it has to be angel assisted or not is unconfirmed. I’m voting unassisted just cause the way Michael was able to go to Hell. But anyway,
A Heaven that is going through a change in power, one most are probably not happy about.
and Shax who is very good at making connections, collecting debts.
Just maybe something to watch out for.

i love how easily crowley could’ve just said “he’s my best friend” to nina but instead he practically chokes out “he’s just an angel *gulps* i know”
he spends the all of s2 referring to aziraphale as his friend yet the one moment he’s directly asked about the nature of their relationship, he panics and overreacts because the word “friend” doesn’t even scratch the surface of what they mean to each other
crowley’s revelation as he walks away: aziraphale isn’t just his friend or an angel he knows. they’re best friends, they’re hereditary enemies, they’re soulmates. their relationship reflects the closest thing to what humans would call a “love life”

Crowley and Job
I'm sure this has been written before but I haven't read it so here's my thesis:
The Job minisode is a metaphor for Crowley.
The Job minisode shows us that this God is willing to put her favourites through significant pain, to have them lose everything, to carry out the ineffable plan. In fact, God considers their favourites to be the only ones able to endure this and remain "faithful" or "good." Funny that, as we see Crowley - a Demon who has every reason to hate God and do a lot of evil - continually showing himself to have a stronger moral compass than the Archangels.
Job is stripped of absolutely everything he has, one after another. Starting with his livelihood, his possessions, his home and finally his most loved thing - his children (sounding familiar at all?). Crowley loses his status, his identity, his job, his flat and ultimately Aziraphale.
Job is angry but not at God, he's angry at himself. He questions how much he must have done wrong to not even know what it is he did (sound familiar?)
When Job talks to God at the end, the first thing she says to him is "You have questions for me Job?" and then she responds with a series of questions back to him. She isn't angry at him asking questions.
He then returns to Sitis, a broken man, to be saved by an Angel and a Demon who reinstate his children to him, having kept them safe the entire time.
How fortunate for God that a particular Angel and Demon pair have quietly ensured that some of the most disturbing plans of Heaven and Hell have never made it to fruition.
How interesting that we see Crowley going through each of the pains of Job.
At the end of S2, Crowley is metaphorically sitting, head in hands, wondering what he did that was so wrong to deserve this.
What if the answer is nothing? What if the answer is he did everything right?

Aziraphale was wrong this. He’ll come crawling back that. I want him to do the apology dance blah blah blah.
You know what I want? I want him to succeed.
I want him to give Heaven hell.
I want him to be a problem of the Metatron’s own making.
I keep seeing a take floating around that the Metatron was obviously lying when calling Aziraphale a natural leader and a good choice for Supreme Archangel and just trying to butter Aziraphale up so he’ll be more open to the idea of rejoining Heaven, but I think there is an important distinction to be made in this regard.
Aziraphale IS those things. He IS a natural leader. He was the first being to ever wield a weapon on earth. He is a high ranking member of Heaven’s army and was in charge of a platoon in the first war EVER. HE WAS FULLY EXPECTED TO DO SO AGAIN IN ARMAGEDDON. We can see this leadership both in Season 1 when he insists to Crowley that they don’t run away and in Season 2 when facing the demons. And if Heaven actually was everything it was meant to be, everything it still proclaims that it is, Aziraphale WOULD be the obvious choice for Supreme Archangel, because when faced between making the right choice or making the obedient one, or even between making the right choice or the comfortable choice, he has always picked the right one.
Give up the sword and lie to God or let the humans suffer? Welp, there goes the sword.
Lie on my word as an Angel or allow three human children to be killed? Guess who’s lying again!
Go back to my abusers in order to make things better for everyone or run away with the love of my life who just confessed his feelings for me? Up I go.
Here’s the kicker. The Metatron ALSO thinks he was lying to Aziraphale. In the Metatron’s eyes, Aziraphale is none of those things. The Metatron and the Archangels are nothing but condescending pricks to the Angel they see as a bumbling, incompetent, slightly insane fool who chose Earth over Heaven.
I don’t want Aziraphale to come crawling back. I don’t want him to realize it’s a lost cause. I don’t want him to give up.
What I want is to see the Metatron’s face as he watches Aziraphale succeed.
