“Blinded by Love” – Exploring the Obsession and Vulnerability of Love
Blog Written by: Eric Harris
At Your Beauty Studios, our projects are born out of a desire to capture raw emotions and tell stories that resonate deeply with the human experience. Our latest photography project, Blinded by Love, delves into the complex and often overwhelming nature of love, exploring how it can cloud judgment, consume individuals, and make them vulnerable. Through carefully crafted imagery, we invite viewers to reflect on the duality of love—its beauty and its dangers.
The Concept: When Love Becomes Blind
The phrase “blinded by love” is familiar, often used to describe situations where love distorts reality, making people overlook flaws or even harmful behavior. In this photoshoot, we aim to visually represent that metaphorical blindness, portraying love as both a source of joy and a potential trap. The images feature individuals who are metaphorically “blinded”—through symbolic props like blindfolds, shadowed lighting, or abstract elements—demonstrating how love can obscure one’s perception.
Themes of Vulnerability and Surrender
Love requires vulnerability—opening oneself to another person and, in many cases, surrendering control. This project captures moments of that surrender, showing how love can leave us exposed, for better or worse. Some photos highlight the beauty of this vulnerability: moments of trust, affection, and connection. Other images take a darker turn, revealing how being “blinded” by love can lead to manipulation, loss of self, or entrapment in toxic dynamics.
Visual Symbolism: The Blindfold
A recurring symbol throughout the shoot is the blindfold, representing how love can act as both a veil and a shield. The blindfold hides reality, preventing the wearer from seeing their surroundings clearly. It can symbolize passion, where people are so caught up in emotion they lose their sense of self or logic. However, in some photos, the blindfold is depicted as a protective barrier, suggesting that sometimes love protects us from harsh truths or painful realities.
The Tension Between Freedom and Constraint
One of the core tensions explored in this project is the balance between freedom and constraint in relationships. Love can liberate, offering emotional intimacy and personal growth. But it can also bind, creating dependencies or power imbalances. In the images, subjects appear in various states—some liberated, arms outstretched as if soaring with love’s freedom, while others are tied, bound by emotional or symbolic constraints. This contrast highlights the push and pull that love often brings into our lives.
A Reflection of Personal Experience
Each image in Blinded by Love reflects different aspects of relationships—some tender, others haunting. Our goal was to capture the universal yet deeply personal nature of love’s impact on individuals. Whether it’s the heady excitement of falling in love or the painful disillusionment when love fades, this project speaks to the highs and lows we all experience in our emotional lives. The use of stark contrasts in lighting and composition reinforces these emotional extremes.
The Emotional Palette: Love’s Many Shades
The photoshoot is rich with a dynamic color palette, from soft pastels that reflect tenderness and affection to deep, dramatic shades of red and black that symbolize passion, obsession, and danger. These visual cues are meant to evoke an emotional response, encouraging viewers to see love not as a single emotion but as a spectrum that can encompass everything from joy to despair.
Conclusion
Blinded by Love is more than just a visual representation of relationships—it’s a reflection on the ways love can empower us, but also how it can blind us to our own needs or reality. At Your Beauty Studios, we are passionate about creating artwork that challenges perceptions and encourages deeper reflection on emotions that define our lives. We hope this photoshoot sparks conversation about the duality of love—the beauty and the risk that come with surrendering ourselves to it.

How I THINK the tbhk characters would feel about imaginary numbers
Hanako- “isn’t this math why are there letters” ass kid
Nene- ????? So confused, they give her a head ache
Kou- thinks that the one 3D graph he was shown was cool looking, does not get it
Aoi- Gets them, does not like them, I think they light a rage in her soul more than they should
Mitsuba- why would I have an opinion on a math concept???? What??
Akane- Enjoys math and imagery numbers more than one probably should (got sad when the teacher said to ignore them because we don’t go into 3D in highschool(and honestly disappointed in himself that he thinks there so cool and fun))
Teru- can use them, understands them, thinks they’re difficulty is overhyped. Does not think about them after they are one the test
Tsukasa- “WHAt????!?!?? Can I eat it!!?!!?”
Natsuhiko- “How are numbers even imaginary… what does that even mean??”
Sakura- could learn them and use them, but does not care to bother herself with that

Glazing TBHK again idk
There are absolutely valid critiques to be made about the writing of TBHK but I keep seeing teenagers on TikTok make the most mind-numbing takes about how the manga is problematic because it has toxic relationships. Sure there are some questionable scenes that I hate but of all the things to bitch about, you choose the relationships??? And not even a take about the way they’re written, you think a manga having toxic relationships in any capacity makes it bad???
I specified teenagers because I wanted to cut them a little bit of slack but I’ve seen grown ass adults make similar takes. Do ya’ll not watch adult shows with adult themes??? Where the relationships are much worse than what you find in a ghost romance manga aimed at tweens???
I wouldn’t even say the toxicity is glorified, they just don’t tell you how you’re supposed to feel about it 24/7. Like when Hanako says he wants Nene to live the life he gave her, or when Kou wants Mitsuba to be completely reliant on him, you’re supposed to understand that these are severely traumatized characters who’s baggage is going to weigh down their relationships. They don’t give a disclaimer every chapter that you’re not supposed to agree with them because they expect their audience to be sensible enough to come to their own conclusions on how they should feel about those scenes.
I hate to break it to ya’ll but mentally ill people have relationships irl, whether they’re ready for them or not. These relationships may go poorly or they may turn out to be very beneficial depending on how they’re handled. All types of people, whether they deal with trauma/mental illness or not, have flaws that sometimes follow them throughout life. Not all of these flaws will go away, because no human being is 100% perfect. Sometimes we hurt the people we care about even if we’re generally good people. Fiction that falls under the category of magical realism (aka TBHK) is meant to reflect reality, so we’re often going to see characters deal with flaws that they may or may not overcome.
Not to mention, half of these characters are dead, they’re not going to be capable of having normal healthy relationships. They behave realistically for their circumstances, it doesn’t have to have a moral tied up with a pretty pink bow. Most of the ships are doomed to fail anyways so them being toxic is a relevant part of the natural decline of their development. The toxicity doesn’t automatically make the series bad, in fact I’d argue that element is well-written and necessary for the progression of the story. If HanaNene weren’t a little bit toxic, we wouldn’t have gotten the Picture Perfect arc or the Severance arc
It’s perfectly fine to dislike toxic ships in fiction, but don’t ridicule authors for wanting to depict more complex themes in their work. AidaIro have certainly included some weird fan service scenes/official art in their series, but those criticisms should remain separate from creative choices you personally dislike.

call me delusional or whatever, but when sanji called him a liability zoro's earrings, "twikked" and i can tell you with 100% surety of my delusional mind that zoro was thinking, "just wait you shitty cook. once this is over, I'll show you how my liability can cause more problems for you and how it will make you scream my name and beg for more."

The Maiden of the Barren Rime Kickstarter is Live!
Tumblr media
A character-driven, slow burn, adult fantasy-romance novel featuring a female lead with just as much bite as her bark.
The Fallow Peaks, a frozen wasteland of cruel mountains and blood thirsty beasts, where the veil between the Realm of Mortals and the fae realm thins, where very few adventurers have dared to tread, where very few guides are qualified to lead.
Guides such as Mina, unfortunately.
Isolated by choice, Mina finds her solitude interrupted by a sudden request from the Crown of Lanholde to lead their latest band of contractors up the Peaks to finish their quest and deliver their bounty to the capital. The overly friendly five-some she’s contacted to escort seem hell-bent to step over her every boundary, no matter now stern and scornful she acts, worst among them their leader, Sebastian Windenhofer.
Will the fire wizard warm Mina’s cold heart? Or will the reasons behind her icy demeanor turn them all to ice before he gets the chance?
________________
A character-driven adult fantasy-romance narrative featuring a female protagonist with flaws that serve more to the story than just being a character trait. The Maiden of the Barren Rime is a book about love and family and acceptance and people, all while throwing you into an amazing, fascinating, fantasy world.
AND, as this is a slow-burn romance, there are well-earned, intimate scenes for those who like a little spice with their catharsis. 😉
With plans to expand the series into a trilogy, your backing will help The Maiden of the Barren Rime reach it's intended audience, and a fresh style of narrative into the fantasy-romance drama.
Check it out on Kickstarter

Aoi is smart but she doesn’t seem to care much about ranking. She does not show any passion for school, lacking motivation and societal pressure (be it from home or other classmates) to reach the top in scores.
Tumblr media
So watching Akane study so hard made her worried. She does not care about his score, she focuses on his health. And her attempt to help does not yield results.
Tumblr media
She observes Akane a lot, and his determination, this intensity when studying, while scary at first, grow to inspired her.
Tumblr media
It shows how much he can affect her, but also how highly she thinks of him, never once doubting Akane would reach the top and be by her side.
Tumblr media
She is so happy to see their names side by side! She is adorable.

I hear your voice echoing in the night,
It gives me comfort,
How I can feel you,
Even though you're not here with me,
This connection is unbreakable,
A bond that is invisibly strong...
