Soft Boiled idea

There's a big competition coming up for the school. The first big show after New Years and Wukong is in attendance. Normally, parents wouldn't be allowed to speak to the judges for fear they'd try to rig the results, but Wukong manages to get his point across by speaking to the director.

Competition Direction, extremely nervous: Mr. Sun! It is an honor to meet a legend such as you you in the flesh! What can I do for you?

Wukong: Well, first, if your not going to call me by my titles... please call me Dr. In the many thousands of years I've been alive I have never let my doctorate go to waste. But the reason I wish to speak to you is in regards to my daughter, Yuebei.

Director, suddenly KY worried because of the Monkey King himself tries to bribe or intimidate him there's is very little he can do: Oh? I hear she's going to be performing today. You must be very proud!

Wukong: Very much so! She's come so far, even with that terrible case of her asthma rising up again during New Years. And I know having someone such as myself and my child can cause some... pressure on you and the judges. I just want you to promise me something.

Director: Oh? (Internally thinking g he's about to be threatened)

Wukong: Please make a point to ensure your judges score her fairly and based upon her performance amd not some... perceived threat or attempt to get in my good graces!? Yuebei worked hard to get here, and I want to make sure whatever score she gets is based on her merit alone and not on her lineage. Neither of us want anything like that!

Director, surprised and suddenly gaining more points: Huh. Normally parents try to get me to influence my judges to give their kids higher scores. Here you are asking that I make sure my judges are doing their jobs properly!

SoftBoiled!Wukong giving me Bob Parr vibes; wants his kids to be judged based on their merits rather than their magic abilities/reputation.

Bonus, Wukong does this talk in "Monkey King"-mode, with the iconic armour. When he goes to the actually competition, he's in his "Yuebei's Embarrassing Dad-mode".

Wukong loves his babygirl so much, but he wants her abilities to be judged for what they are, and for her to be able to handle constructive criticism + not being No 1. He'd sob with pride if Yuebei got final place - he's just so proud she had the guts and love for her art to perform for it!

When dA made me delete all the images in my gallery like putting down old yeller, I found an old art where I met myself as a girl in a dream. Then there was the TSF era, a webcomic I made had the first chapter with my sert and a character based on some girl I met in a dream not swap genders by swap body types so basically I became a femboy and she became a brick with tits. I had planned on a chapter where my friend's sert (her name was also TC, uncanny) used the attribute flipper item to change my gender and we had to stop her. Then there was the pikachunny era Also learned male togetics can learn softboiled and togetic begins and ends with T.C. and I went "new pokesona" and all my friends were like "your boobs are bigger than mine XD" Then while making a comic reimagining old characters I had one be a girl who thought she was a boy because they're based on a pikachu that got heartswapped with her brother while I was pregnant with my friends and the fetuses had to experience the horror of life because Manaphy is insane. And then my friend spent a year proving he's technically correct that you are the gender you say you are and genitals are irrelevant. The year after that was the last time I let my hair be shorter than past my shoulders.

yesterday was extremely busy, and much too busy for me to pull together the mental faculties necessary for jumbling out any of my thoughts, because it was both Thanksgiving and the anniversary of me and some absolute stuffy weirdo making out for the first time, and within a few weeks of this deciding with complete and improbable sincerity and certainty to spend the rest of our strange lives together. so far that’s worked out pretty okay, since three years later ~our song~ just came on while he was cleaning and we waltzed around the study with our dog squished confusedly and grumpily in between us, him in clashing plaid flannel and pajama trousers and me in stockings and bra and his old paisley bathrobe. 

today is also the third anniversary of this first couple’s photo which I texted to like three close friends that whirlwind weekend.

and here we are driving down to Kentucky again yesterday.

anyway I am thankful for our tiny odd house full of artifacts and for how everything I own is covered in white dog fur, and for my green-painted desk, and my magnificent leather wingback swivel chair, and for waking up and stretching over to kiss sleepily between a warm pair of shoulderblades, and for not getting fired for a whole year and three quarters, and Corey getting a new job that isn’t toxic and also allows him to text me things like “COWORKER FOUND VINTAGE CONTRABAND VODKA INSIDE A MATRYOSHKA DOLL” from work, and for a fuzzy monster who tries to steal my pillow at night, and for rain on the windows at night, and jar candles, and sweet wet November leaves, and crockpot pulled chicken, and all of the people I’m terribly proud of, and having contacts again, and television that makes me cry, and meeting internet friends for the first time or reuniting for the first time in years, and all the splendid people who have slept on our giant recliner this year, and elsewhere, and the time we got with the important college radio station before it stopped broadcasting forever with “This Must Be The Place”, and for video games making me feel and create when I’ve been deadest inside, and for all the teachers and academics and journalists I know fighting the good fight with knowledge and compassion, and our neon sign in the front window, and the joy of watching one’s beloved partner learn and delight in new skills they were always told they could never do, and secondhand velvet dresses, and the big graveyard full of angry swans and historical crypts, and Nyx coming to Walgreens in the plaza where my job is, and the weird bowling alley diner, and bath bombs, and for John Darnielle, and art galleries, and vintage jazz, and Raymond Chandler, and street fairs, and stupid stupid stupid loopy 3am jokes, and sort of almost writing again, and pipesmoke, and softboiling eggs, and the pair of miniature schnauzers with little old lady names who trot and tumble past our house almost every day, and surviving another year and scrabbling at the hope that one day it won’t be a fight for survival and every year almost believing it just a little more-- 

anyway. things are bad. things are good. the world is good and rubbish but I’ve got folks at my back and some nerd who’s promised all official-like to stay there, not even just because I make great pancakes.
