National Lemonade Day
National Lemonade Day is dedicated to the refreshing summer drink. Lemons and sugarcane are both native to India, so it is likely that the modern drink is derived from a drink Indians drank called nimbu pani. Traditional or cloudy lemonade is popular in the United States, and consists of lemons and a sweetener, usually sugar. Pink lemonade adds flavors such as raspberry, strawberry, or other fruits to the mix, and it is rumored it was invented by a man who accidentally dropped cinnamon candies into his lemonade. Another form of lemonade is clear lemonade, which is popular in the United Kingdom, and it is more like a soft drink. It is many times used with beer to make shandy, and as a base for mixed drinks. While lemonade can be healthy because of its vitamin C content, the high level of sweeteners that are used to make it tends to negate its health benefits.
How to Observe
Sit back, relax, and have some lemonade. There are various ways to make your own lemonade, and here is one idea. You could also check around your neighborhood for lemonade stands, as there is a pretty good chance that there will be many set up to celebrate the day. If you have children or grandchildren you could help them set up their own stand. Lemonade Day is a group not directly connected with National Lemonade Day, but they help to get kids involved in starting lemonade stands, with the goal of fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and teaching business acumen. This may be a good day to look into getting your community involved with their programs.

The Presto Continues
I think I may have said last time I was at the final iteration BUT!! I lied I already knew I still wanted to tinker with it, lmao. This version is still not QUITE there but we're close, lads, I can taste it. ALSO, I've acquired silly straws, which may be the most important ingredient. Also also, I'm looking forward to making this with enough foresight that I set up a nice place to take a picture and actually use a good camera, because it's very pretty :D
THE CURRENT RECIPE:
2oz dragonberry rum
1oz lemon juice (1/2 a lemon)
6oz sprite
1/2oz uv blue raspberry vodka, infused with butterfly peaflowers
Star fruit, lemon twists, and a silly straw
Edible luster dust (optional)
Shake rum and lemon juice with ice and strain into a hurricane glass. Add sprite and enough fresh ice to almost fill the glass, then top with infused vodka, using the straw to stir carefully-- preferably with an audience to delight and amaze with the mystical magical color change (which you should hype up as much as possible for the duration). Garnish with star fruit and twists of lemon peel that you made way too long because you got a little too excited making them.
The only problem with this one is it's too tart! That actually might hit the spot for some people-- it's perfectly drinkable as-is, but for what I'm conceptually going for it definitely needs to be sweeter. I thought going in that that might be the case, but I'd hoped the soda would be sweet enough to carry the extra citrus-- alas. I'm gonna try just adding an amount(?) of simple syrup next time, and I may also cut back the lemon juice to half an ounce?
Upsides of this edition: it's definitely prettier with the sprite! Not only does the clear, fizzy drink have a nicer overall look than the lemonade, it also ended up being a prettier shade of purple, even with the same amount of the vodka. And like I've been saying, this drink conceptually really did just need to be carbonated. Sprite is also great as an ingredient because multiple single servings can sit on the floor in the pantry almost indefinitely until I happen to need some, unlike fresh real lemonade, haha. Another unexpected upside is that this is now different enough from the accidental variant I made that one time that they now feel like legitimate variations on the same theme, instead of just 'one of them is the lazy 2 am not wanting to use a shaker version' lol

There's a certain tragedy regarding the simplicity of lemonade and the frequency of people fucking it up.
#hyperbole but w/e#like making good lemonade isnt that hard to the point that having good lemonade isnt really an accomplishment#however the amount of bad lemonades out there in the world makes the lemon lover in me cry.#anyways: how to improve your lemonade. 1st taste along the way. 2nd instead of adding sugar directly to water instead make simple syrup#simple syrup is 1 part sugar to 1 part water. boiling the water speeds up the solution.#2:1 sugar:water makes it shelf stable if you want to use the syrup for cocktails#anyways after you dissolve the sugar and heat the water turn off the stove and put the zest from your lemons youre using in the syrup#this will steep and draw out the oils (which have a lot of lemon flavor). this lets you strengthen the taste of your lemonade w/o the sour#but still use the juice for the tartness because tart lemonades are great#in fact you can actually throw other stuff into the syrup to steep if theres a lot of flavor in the oil#i sometimes put chopped mint and green chilies. thats makes good lemonades#you can also do ginger; cardamom; anise; honestly any spice#just fucking treat the hot syrup like it was tea. hell put tea in the syrup#as long as you strain the solids out of the syrup you just use it in place of the sugar when combining it and the juice and water#How To Drink youtube channel has a vid all about making syrups; both conventional and not#you can also make more fruity syrups by throwing fruits in a pot like strawberries with a bit of water; heat it; and just smash the bastards#strain the solids once again; reduce and you have syrups that you can then add to your lemonade#add sugar too to your fruit syrups theres not enough natural sugars to make the quantity you want#if you keep these syrups in little bottles you can honestly mix and match for all kinds of drinks#like club soda + these syrups and this is just normal soda but with funky flavors#you want to drink a god damn black pepper soda you cam#i think this escaped me#the power of syrups is potent

strawberry lemonade
Sanji x LuffyOlderSister!Reader
the waiter walked over the table holding the plate of bread, "Hi, welcome to our shitty restaurant where the only thing worse than the ambience is the food." He said annoyed, his hand stuffed into his pockets as he placed the plate of bread onto the table
“My name is Sanji. What can I get for you?” Sanji said, looking at the table his hand in his pockets.
Luffy grabbed the bread plate. "One of everything, please," he said. [Y/n] shook her head, smiling at her always-hungry little brother who could eat a whole buffet and still ask for seconds.
The waiter approached the table with a friendly smile and a suggestion: "May I interest you in one of our signature cocktails to elevate your dining experience?" As he spoke, [Y/n] swiftly and deftly took one of the warm rolls from the basket in the center of the table. Luffy was taken aback and protested with a playful "Hey!" [Y/n] responded by sticking out her tongue, teasingly. She then tore off a piece of the warm, crusty bread and popped it into her mouth, savoring the flavor.
As she looked up, her gaze met the waiter's. Her heart skipped a beat as she noticed his flirtatious smile. "My apologies, madam. I didn't see you there. Would you like to start with an apéritif?" he asked, still smiling at her.
Her face turned bright red. "We have some rare Micqueot vintages in stock," he said, trying to impress her. "Or maybe you'd prefer a glass of Umeshu?" He continued to stare at her, captivated by her beauty.
The moment he flashed a flirtatious smile, her heart raced like a horse galloping on a race track. He leaned towards her and whispered, "You know, something sweet for someone sweet," causing her cheeks to flush with a bright red hue, reminiscent of a freshly picked ripe strawberry. She couldn't explain why she felt so nervous around him all of a sudden, her heart pounding relentlessly against her chest as if it wanted to break free.
He watched her intently, his gaze unwavering as she averted her eyes and looked down. Her cheeks turned a faint shade of pink as she fiddled with the gold Roger coin around her neck, a precious keepsake that Shanks had given her and Luffy when they were children.
He smiled at her and she looked up for a moment, smiling sheepishly as they locked eyes. Usopp clears his throat and says, "Waiter, can I get a beer and something for my friends?" He tells the waiter ordering the drinks, "Two beers. I usually have three, but…" He said,
"Water." Nami said looking at him.
„And a milk." Luffy interrupted, "Three beers and a milk. a water. And, uh, for madam?" Sanji asked, his gaze once again falling on [Y/n] looked up at him and blushed, "U-Um, I would strawberry lemonade and a cup of strawberries," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of shyness. He smiled at her and said, "Right away." just as he left to walk towards the kitchen.
[Y/n] hid her face in her shirt while the other crew members chuckled, Luffy looked towards his older sister playfully. "Y/n's gotta boyfriend," He teasingly said to her. "S-Shut up!" She whispered shouted, elbowing him in the arm before, as the Sanji brought out her drinks. He smiled, at her as he placed the strawberry lemonade in front of her, along with the side of strawberries. Sending her a wink as he did so, her heart almost seemed to stop and her soul could've left her body.
"Y/n's gotta boy-" [Y/n] grabbed some meat on a stick, and shoved it into her brother's mouth silencing him.

National Lemonade Day
Warm weather means lots of good things—but it also means more thirst! Quench it with one of the world’s most refreshing drinks, the  ever-popular lemonade.
A tall, icy glass of yellow (or pink!) lemonade is refreshing and  terrific no matter what time of year. However, it does have particular  benefits when consumed on a super hot, super sticky summer day.
National Lemonade Day celebrates the long-standing tradition of  drinking lemonade and opening lemonade stands. It encourages others to  celebrate too, by supporting these children in their business. Whether  it’s for a charity cause or for that very special thing that child wants  to earn for themselves, National Lemonade Day is all about drinking  lemonade and having a good time.
Sweet but tart, and perfectly refreshing, National Lemonade Day celebrates everything wonderful about this delicious beverage!
History of National Lemonade Day
Lemonade stands have been a traditional American pastime, but when  did this tradition start? Lemonade has always been a popular beverage  since its invention, and children benefit from lemonade stands by  learning many things about how to open and fun a business.
But it would probably be wise to go back further and start at the  beginning with the well-known fruit itself, the lemon! Lemons were  originally discovered around 1st century AD when the Romans and Greeks  established routes to India, where this yellow, tart citrus fruit is  believed to have first originated.
After its discovery in India, the cultivation of lemons began to  spread to the Middle East and throughout Southern Europe, where the  climate was still hospitable for growing the lemon trees. During this  time, lemons were considered a bit of a luxury item in cooking as well  as in decoration.
The activity of squeezing the juice from the lemon to make ‘lemonade’  probably happened in the Mediterranean region during the 13th century  and was considered medicinal. And it probably didn’t taste sweet the way  we expect it today! However, because lemons are so filled with Vitamin C  and other healthy nutrients, it is easy to see why it would have been  used for its important health benefits.
Lemonade is believed to have been introduced to America by European  settlers in the 17th century. It wasn’t until the beginning of the  industrial revolution that lemonade stands would become a popular way of  teaching children about leadership and money.
National Lemonade Day was founded by Lisa and Michael Holthouse in  2007 to honor the way lemonade stands are a useful tool to teach  children about running a business. The tagline says it all: Teaching  Kids the Power of Entrepreneurship.
Lisa Holthouse was inspired to create this holiday by a time in her  childhood when she wanted a pet turtle. Her father helped her set up a  lemonade stand to raise money to buy the animal herself. Since then,  over 250,000 children take part in this fun celebration each and every  year!
How to Celebrate National Lemonade Day
The celebration of National Lemonade Day can come in all shapes and  sizes–from kids to adults! Try these ideas for enjoying the day:
Visit a Lemonade Stand
Support children everywhere by purchasing lemonade from their stands! Purchasing a lemonade can help build the confidence of a child, helping  them understand the value of money and even learn lessons about being  in a small business.
By purchasing a lemonade, this simple act can potentially inspire future business leaders.
Whether the money is for the child or for a charity, lemonade stands  can be a great way to give back to your community. When they experience  success children can become inspired to be amazing people. Share this  holiday with your friends and family and spread the love for lemonade!
Help a Child Set Up a Lemonade Stand
Throughout the day, children learn valuable lessons about  responsibility, finances, and setting goals and the importance of  teamwork. People in their local communities support these children by  getting a delicious drink in hand.
If you have a child, this might be a great day to help them set up a  lemonade stand to teach them about business and money. But people  without children can get involved too!
Whether encouraging a family member or neighbor kid, helping a child  set up and run a lemonade stand teaches children planning skills, the  value of money, patience (when waiting for customers to come!) and the  enjoyment of interacting with the public.
Participation in this holiday is free and can be registered through the National Lemonade Day website.  Children in cities all throughout US territories and Canada  participate, from up north in Alaska to all the way down to Puerto Rico!  Kids can add their stand to the map so they can be found by local  people in order to drive their business.
After the day, success stories about kids who have made and met goals  can be shared on the website for encouragement and inspiration!
Enjoy a Cool Glass of Lemonade
Even if there are no children or lemonade stands nearby, that doesn’t  mean National Lemonade Day needs to go unnoticed or uncelebrated!  Whether hand squeezing some lemons and adding sugar and water to create a  freshly squeezed glass of goodness, or grabbing a lemonade at a local  restaurant, participating with an enjoyable beverage is a great way to  honor the day!
Some restaurants even offer discounted or free lemonade on the day,  often combining the effort with donations to various charities.
Louisiana-based Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is appreciated for  their sweet but tart lemonade, and they have been known to hold charity  events related to National Lemonade Day in the past. Red Robin is  another American restaurant chain that has celebrated by offering free  lemonade samples and giving money to charity.
National Lemonade Day is a great day to enjoy a tall glass of lemonade and do something good for someone else!

TO A NEW YEAR | M.R X READER

TO A NEW YEAR | MATTHEO RIDDLE X READER
Lorenzo was setting up the drinks, Theo was decorating the different areas of the dormitory, different strings and bits of tinsel hanging around the place. Draco and Blaise had bought vodka, Firewhiskey and Butterbeer for the night, with Blaise bringing fruits and juices to make cocktails.
And Mattheo was sitting in the Slytherin Common Room. Waiting.
He had asked you to spend time with him at the party, if you could. He knew that you were busy with whatever it was you planned on doing, though he wasn’t sure exactly what yet. You had research you wanted to get to, more for fun rather than for schoolwork. He also knew that it was raining though, which meant you’d probably get distracted. Mattheo wouldn’t have minded going with you into the rain, wearing a yellow poncho and dancing in the middle of the courtyard until the fireworks went off in the night sky.
Unfortunately, he owed Theo a favor.
So, here he was, sulking in the Slytherin Common Room. At least he was hidden behind the couch, he thought, able to play off his sulking as nothing more than a bad dream after a nap.
“Mattheo?” Theo called out, tinsel in his hand. “Are you even awake right now?”
Mattheo sighed softly as he sat up, rubbing his eyes. He did have a rather bad dream last night, and his head was pounding from his lack of sleep.
“Kind of,” he muttered, shaking his head. “Why?”
“You wanna help Enzo test drinks?” he asked, leaning against the side of the couch. “He said he needs a guinea pig to experiment on.”
Mattheo sighed, looking at the bar. It was better to drink than whatever he was dealing with right now, at least from a forgetting standpoint. So, he nodded, walking over to the bar silently and sittimg down at the end.
“Matt!” Enzo smiled proudly, two shots already in hand. “Vodka mixed with a Butterbeer and a Firewhiskey to start.”
Mattheo took the vodka Firewhiskey shot and chugged it, chugging the second right after. “Thanks, Enz.”
“Rough night?” he asked, voice more quiet as he made the second one.
“Yeah,” he muttered, nodding.”Rough.”
“Here, this one’s sweeter.” he said, handing Mattheo a larger glass of vodka and Butterbeer mixed with some fruit juice. Mattheo chugged it easily, used to the burn of vodka down his throat.
“Thanks,” he whispered softly.
Tumblr media
You arrived at the Slytherin Common Room before the party truly got into swing, not wanting to deal with crowds of groups preventing you from walking around. Your studies on magical beasts had been tiring but rewarding, and now you were ready for a break from it.
Panay had also dragged you away from your books before you could continue, but that’s besides the point.
So, you walked up to where the bar area was, a small smile on your face as you saw Lorenzo. “Hi there Lorenzo!” you chirped, Pansy right behind you as you spoke. “Do you have anything strawberry flavored?”
“Oh yeah, plenty!” he said, looking down at his menu. “Strawberry daiquiri, a strawberry cocktails and margaritas, strawberry rum,”
“You have alcohol?” you asked incredulously, looking at him with a stern expression. “Lorenzo, there’s kids in this house!”
“They’re not allowed in the party,” he reminded her.
“And what if they were smart and figured out how to sneak in?” you asked, eyebrows furrowed. “This is not a place that should be so easily accessible to them. You couldn’t at least do the Room of Requirements or something?”
“Girl,” Pansy said, chuckling behind you. “It’s just a party! Let loose!”
You looked at her even more incredulously before sighing softly, looking down at the juice bottles he had. Your mouth felt dry like sandpaper, already feeling silenced. “Just a strawberry lemonade.”
Lorenzo’s eyebrows furrowed them, looking at you just as intensely as you looked at him. “No alcohol?”
“No thanks,” you mumbled quietly.
“Y/N, it’s a new year party!” Pansy said behind you, shaking your arm slightly. “C’mon, just one drink?”
“I said no.” you said more sternly, watching as Lorenzo made the drink to make sure he didn’t sneak anything in there. “Where’s Mattheo?”
“Theo dragged him to the bathroom just now, don’t know why.” Lorenzo shrugged simply, making Pansy a drink of her own along with one for himself. “He was testing my drinks.”
“Kay,” you nodded, looking around before waving them goodbye. “See you guys.”
“You’re not gonna stay?” Pansy asked, a small pout on your face. But by the time you heard the question, you had already left to find Mattheo.
Tumblr media
“Mattheo?” you called, turning around the corner to see if he was in the bathrooms like Lorenzo said.
Instead, you were greeted by Theo.
“Hey Y/N!” he said, smiling at you as he leaned against the wall. “What are you doing over here?”
“Lorenzo said Mattheo was here.” you mumbled.
Theo nodded, pointing to the door behind him. “Bathroom. Give him a moment though, he needs to freshen up. Whatever Lorenzo gave him really did a number.”
“Is he sick?” you asked, worry seeping through your voice.
“He’s a little under the weather.” Theo said, before shrugging simply. “But he’ll be fine. It’s nothing too big, so don’t worry.”
“I’m going to worry if my boyfriend is sick.” you deadpanned, frowning at him.
Theo chuckled softly. “I know you are. But you don’t need to.”
“I want to.” you said, walking past him and knocking on the door. As much as you wanted to go in, you wouldn’t invade his privacy.
“You know I’m not trying to be mean, right?” Theo asked, his voice calmer as he switched how he leaned against the wall. “I just don’t want you to worry. Lord knows Mattheo would kill me if I worried you more.”
You looked at him before sighing. “I know.”
“Did something happen out there?” Theo asked.
You debated telling Theo. He seemed like a good guy, all things aside. But he probably sided with them on the alcohol issue. Maybe even Mattheo would as well. “Not really. Just tired.”
Theo was about to say something more when Mattheo opened the door, his signature smirk present on his face. “Y/N!”
“Hi, Matty.” you smiled quietly, hugging him gently.
“Oh, this is the best Christmas present.” he smiled brightly, peppering your face with kisses. “I can’t believe I was blessed with this.”
You chuckled softly, giggling as his lips found anywhere on your face they could land on.
“Okay Mattheo,” Theo said, patting him on the back. You could tell there was something calculating in his gaze, though you weren’t sure what. “By the way, I left your gift upstairs.”
“You did?” he said, smiling even brighter as he kissed you a final time. “I’ll go get it.”
Theo smiled before turning to you as soon as Mattheo left, his face dropping to a more serious expression. “He had a nightmare last night. I don’t think that him being at the party would be a very good idea.”
“I could convince him to stay in his dorm?” you mumbled quietly.
“I’d really appreciate that.” he said, smiling at you. “If you don’t mind, of course.”
You shrugged. “I didn’t really want to be at this party anyways.”
Theo chuckled a bit louder at that, patting you on the head before walking off to finish decorating. You smiled softly before walking off to Mattheo, glad that at least one of his friends seemed to care.
Tumblr media
“Mattheo?” you called out gently, knocking on his dormitory door.
Mattheo opened the door then, smiling softly. He had recently been upgraded to get his own private room, mainly due to his money. “Hey, love.”
“Hi,” you smiled softly. “Can I come in?”
“Of course you can,” he smiled softly, opening the door and letting you in.
You waddled closer to his bed, laying down on it and cuddling up in his bed. It was always extremely comfortable, way more than yours ever was. You had doubts on whether it was charmed to be more comfortable than it really was.
“Don’t get too comfortable,” he chuckled quietly. “You have to get up for the party, remember?”
You looked at him with a small pout, not wanting to go back to the party one single bit. “I really don’t want to go to the party.”
“No?” Mattheo asked, looking at you.
“I don’t like Enzo and Pansy right now,” you mumbled quietly, mostly to yourself.
“Why not?” he asked, furrowing his eyebrows as he moved to sit down next to you. “Did something happen between you three?”
“Earlier,” you muttered quietly. “About the drinks, at the party. I said that it wasn’t safe for them to be there, especially if kids snuck into the party. Enzo was trying to say that he would be fine with kids drinking alcohol, I guess. I don’t really remember his deal with it.”
“What does that have to do with Pansy?” he asked quietly. running his hands through your hair as you explained what happened.
“Pansy tried to force me into drinking,” you mumbled quietly, huffing. “Don’t like them.”
“I don’t like them either right now,” he said, his face visibly darkening as he heard that. He didn’t like it when people pressured drinks onto him, much less his girlfriend.
“Can we just cuddle?” you asked quietly. You looked so innocent asking, it melted his heart into two in less than a second.
“Of course we can.” he smiled softly.
Tumblr media
You and Mattheo had snuggled up into his bed about two hours ago, both of you having fallen asleep a couple minutes after you laid down. The bed was warm, and you didn’t want to leave even if it was closing in on the new year.
“Are you awake?” Mattheo asked you quietly, voice soft and gentle as he spoke to you.
“Unfortunately.” you mumbled, cuddling him closer.
He chuckled softly at that, kissing the top of your forehead and rubbing your back. “I love napping with you.” he whispered softly, tilting your chin up.
“Really?” you smiled softly, nibbling softly on his nose.
“Yes, really.” he smiled. His nose scrunched up playfully as you bit it, a smile growing on his face. You smiled softly as he smiled at you, nuzzling your noses together.
“I have a gift for you.” he said, smiling softly at you.
Your eyes lit up at that, sitting up a bit straighter. “Really?”
He smiled softly, sitting up with you and smiling. His hands reached for his drawer, sifting through it to find whatever he was looking for. “Coure I did. It’s the new year, you deserve something good.”
“I have you, I think that’s enough.” you giggled.
He smiled at that, his eyes crinkling and eyes glossy as he looked at you. You pulled him in for a gentle kiss. He still wasn’t used to your affection much, even after over a year of dating.
Even still, he soaked it in like sunlight.
“I still want to give it to you.” he whispered softly, handing you a small box. It was wrapped in newspaper and tied with regular twine, which you thought was rather cute.
“For me?” you asked him happily.
“For you.” he smiled gently.
You opened it to find a couple of things. The first was a book you had been wanting for a while. There was a small book on creatures in there as well, no doubt for your research.
There were a couple of poems, written in ways that made tears fall down your cheeks. A small stuffed animal was sitting on the bottom along with a small letter, one that you opened with a small smile.
My love, I have loved you ever since the moment I saw you. I’m surprised Theo never told you about how many times I stayed up writing about a girl I had never even met yet, how many days I spent imagining you with me when I didn’t even know your name. I want to spend my days and nights with you. I want to go to war for you, anywhere from hell and back that would make you happy. On days that you are and days that you aren’t, no matter how hard things get. I’ll love you, my darling, as I promised you and myself the moment that my eyes found yours in the courtyard.
Will you stay with me forever?
You looked down at the box and gasped gently, noticing as he pulled out a small box. It was green with silver engravings, most likely for his house colors. Inside was a thin band, your favorite gemstone laying in the middle of it.
“Will you marry me?” he asked quietly. There were small tears in his eyes, as were yours.
You sniffled softly, not sure if you could even get the words out. How could you? This was the most romantic thing you had ever done with him, and you felt that milestone could never be topped every single day of your life.
“I,” you mumbled, sniffling softly. “Yes! Merlin, yes!”
He smiled brightly, sniffling softly himself as he put the ring on your finger. It fit perfectly, just as you expected it to. “I love you.”
You smiled softly, pulling him in for a kiss. You poured everything inside it, hoping that it would give him some semblance of how you felt.
Then came the fireworks, one after another. They lit up his face and eyes like the prettiest constellation you had ever seen. There was cheering and lights, fires in the sky you didn’t know how to process just yet. All you knew was that you were happy, happier than you had ever been.
“I love you too.” you smiled.
