putting my prediction on record now that the coming decade is going to see the rise of viral-marketed fancy at-home water filtration systems, driving and driven by a drastic reduction in the quality of U.S. tap water (given that we are in a 'replacement era' where our current infrastructure is reaching the end of its lifespan--but isn't being replaced). also guessing that by the 2030s access to drinkable tap water will be a mainstream class issue, with low-income & unstably housed people increasingly forced to rely on expensive bottled water when they can't afford the up-front cost of at-home filtration--and with this being portrayed in media as a "moral failing" and short-sighted "choice," rather than a basic failure of our political & economic systems. really hope i'm just being alarmist, but plenty of this already happens in other countries, and the U.S. is in a state of decline, so. here's praying this post ages into irrelevance. timestamped April 2023

not to tap into Discourse here but there’s this video going around on twt of some female idols (i think) kissing each other platonically on the mouth and people are getting upset over it bc they’re presumably straight and it’s like. i genuinely get that to some degree it can be frustrating to see ‘straight’ (presumably) people get away with ‘safe’ sapphic expressions of love and sexuality under the guise of platonic heterosexual friendship when actual sapphics are literally violently discriminated against for the same things but also can we not forget that like. its okay to kiss your friends on the mouth 👍 you’re allowed to do that because you’re allowed to express intimacy and love however you feel comfortable. the idea that kissing someone on the mouth is an inherently romantic thing is so unserious anyway as if there aren’t plenty of cultures and families where it is a totally accepted and normal platonic gesture. frankly the only people ever freaking out over platonic mouth kisses are always western and white lmfao. i can completely understand the urge to be frustrated maybe (i mean i do think its a harmless video.) but something about the idea that it’s inherently ‘wrong’ for ‘straight’ women to kiss each other on the lips / perform other ‘romantically’ coded gestures in a platonic context rubs me the wrong way. actually everyone should kiss their friends on the lips if that is what they want to do. it’s literally fine. just. taps the sign that says the meaning of the gesture is determined by the people involved in the action once again. anyway that entire criticism just kind of rubbed me the wrong way

If you hate on people like this, you are just as bad as homophobes and transphobes, because JUST LIKE THEM, you are hating on someone for their attraction, or for their gender identity!

It's fine if your attraction is mainly towards cisgender women or men because both the gender identity AND the physical body parts are part of your attraction. You didn't make that choice, you aren't excluding them out of hate. But if it's towards cisgender people solely to exclude trans people? Yeah, go fuck yourself. Because you don't control what factors into your attraction, so having something like that be part of your attraction is fine. If your attraction is towards both people who identify as female AND people who have a vulva, or vice versa, yeah, you do you, you didn't choose for the presence or lack of a primary or secondary sex characteristic, that's just a part of your attraction. But the MOMENT the intent is to exclude trans people, you are just being an asshole.

So yeah, if you think that any of the identities I mentioned aren't valid? Let me know so I can block you!

Everyone else, if you are part of any of these identities, as someone who falls under a few of these categories, (Asexual, Asexual Alloromantic, Falling under the nonbinary umbrella) I will always accept you. As long as you yourself are not being exclusionary. You are JUST as valid as anyone else!

Sadly, the Esland Awards have been an event with a history of much controversy, a lot of division, and a lot of divisions within the community, and as you guys know, as you know, my content has never been characterized by seeking controversy or divisions or anything like that. It's for this exact reason that I don't want to be involved with these awards.

really need for people to realise that fictional characters are fictional characters and their actions are dictated by real people making choices for them. "well in real life it would be fine if character did [x] thing" yes well they're not real!!! they don't have agency!! in real life it's fine if a woman chooses to keep a baby, that's literally what being pro-choice is all about, but in fiction i can count on one hand the amount of tv shows that have done abortion storylines, despite the fact that abortion is normal and common and the right to have one literally needs to be fought for in certain countries. and so of course a tv show yet again choosing to have a character keep a baby despite the fact that it barely fits the character is disappointing to some people

i will always shout praises of bi4bi but given recent discourse I feel the need to say that I love bi4het too! I just love bisexuality in general in its many forms, and anyone who only likes it when it's 'queer enough' for them is biphobic. Bisexuals should be able to bring their LaMe CiShEt BoYfRiEnD to pride without being made to feel like spectators and outsiders to their own event.

I get that most written porn is supposed to be stupid fantasies where the sex is always Awesome but like the way vaginismus or dryness (both of which can be a thing WHILE extremely turned on) never seems to crop up is astounding to me. Like it's relatively common but barely ever discussed (this is just me being in trans circles but I honestly Only see dryness being mentioned in the context of vaginal atrophy from HRT and like. It is a thing that people with vaginas can experience chronically with or without hormonal changes).

And like yeah wrt prev post it really weirds me out that a lot of people even in like trans + feminist circles still have a disproportionate focus on vaginas as a site for penetration and don't even seem to Really entertain the notion that a lot of people are physically incapable of it, are capable but require lubricant (instead of being the perfect Perma-Wet Hole fantasy), or don't want it in general. Also goes 100% hand in hand with treating a penis as An Instrument For Penetration Only (often with connotations of domination or violence projected on this act as well) and similarly not entertaining that people might not be capable, might have difficulties, or just Do Not Want To.

Like fantasies or not I don't think you're going to have a healthy relationship with sex if the main thing driving you is imagining the human body as universally ready for and desiring of penetrative sex (whether it's you as a receiver or your partner). Not even going into how these attitudes are used in bigoted capacities lol.

I've been picking mostly only the essential flirt options with lucanis in the romance so far (I've personally found the dynamic much more natural and mutual when you do that, more like forming a solid friendship slowly and inevitably becoming something else and less like you keep pushing on him and getting little back b/c he seemingly just gets overwhelmed and goes into freeze instead), and I think rye is a pretty hard person to read at the best of times even though he's been Down Real Bad from pretty early on and their chemistry as people is naturally really good. so the way the almost-kiss plays out in this playthrough feels a lot like it has the added layer of lucanis realizing that no but for sure rook is flirting and not just being kind or a good friend* it IS actually happening it's not just wishful/fearful thinking!!! and then uh. maybe going a bit too hard a bit too fast in all the excitement at that revelation haha

*in lucanis' defense he has seemingly literally never had a friend who wasn't his cousin-brother before, under those circumstances I suppose some confusion is extremely natural if not outright expected lmao
