Alyssa Reed was a naive witch who fell in love with Silas Chamberlain, a man more hungry for power and notability than he was for love. When Alyssa married the covens most eligible bachelor and got pregnant with twins shortly after she thought she had secured their relationship, unfortunately all it did was make the flaws in their relationship more gapping. That was until heirs twins were born and Silas seemed to change for the better, he fawned over his children and talked constantly about the legacy that they would one day take over. Alyssa had thought things were better until she found Silasâ cheating with Violet Cartwright; while she knew about the affair Alyssaâs position in society meant more to her so she stayed silent. Instead making sure to soak up as much of Silasâ time as she could, even getting pregnant by him once more which resulted in the birth of their youngest daughter. For a while she hoped that Silas would turn his attention back to his family, he did for a short time, but with his thirst for power and Violet Cartwright right around the corner Silas always had his attention on anyone but Alyssa. Even when word went around about Jasmine Chamberlain, all Alyssa did was brush it off. Claiming that Silasâ true heirs were her children, never once would she acknowledge Jasmine as the childrenâs half sister. Instead she claimed Violet Cartwright was just a groupie who had wanted the fame. No matter what he did still though she stood by his side and played the role of the faithful wife.
Well that was until Silas went too far, while Alyssa had been on board with being the wife of the supreme she hadnât signed up for the all the additional eyes on them. What was once a play for power and a good idea had turned into a liability, she wasnât willing to pay with her life or her childrenâs lives. As Silas threatened to expose them to the world Alyssa made the decision to call The Council, asking for refuge from her husbands mad ways. Once her passage had been secured she packed up her three small children while Silas was out and took off in the night with them. Vowing to Silas and the children that they would never see one another again, Alyssa went as far as making sure that none of them remembered their father. Alyssa and the supreme both made sure to slip the children memory altering charms to wear while they decided it was best to rewrite history- going as far as changing their last names back to their mothers surname. Instead of growing up with a father for the short few years they had the Reed siblings were told that their father had just been some man who ran out on them after getting their mother pregnant with the youngest; they claimed he wasnât ready to be a father but had tried for a few years. While The Council had their eyes on Silas, they also kept a watchful eye on The Reed Siblings, waiting to see if they showed any signs of remembering or if they would become problems like their father.
Time moved on though with no one besides The Council any wiser to where Alyssa Reed or her children had came from. Instead Alyssa went out of her way to climb the ranks once more in the coven, used her children the whole way with their sweet smiles and blue eyes to charm her second husband - Miles Hale. By the age of eight Poppy was once again packing up her things to move into her new home with a step father she didnât want. All Poppy had wanted was her real dad, not an imposter who her mother was passing off as the perfect new father. Instead it just fueled Poppyâs rebellion and by the time she got her powers she was sneaking out and constantly running off - in the hopes that sheâd be able to get out of the town and to actually be free. While sheâd got close to the border a few times her mother and step father always caught her at the last second, then she was back to trying to put on a show for the coven that she was the perfect daughter just like her younger sister.
It surprised no one when Poppy opted to forgo college, but instead insisted on leaving not only the coven, but Lunar Cove. With her grades there wasnât a shot in hell that she was any getting in to any decent or respectful college, so instead they cut a deal. She could take a gap year, but after the year was up she had to return to Lunar Cove and take classes at the local community college. While she didnât plan to uphold the deal she agreed, deciding that she had to take her only ticket out of town while she could. So she packed what she could fit into her red Volkswagen Beetle and headed out of the safe heaven. Once she got past the border the weight that had been on her chest for years finally lifted and she felt like she could breathe. She drove all night just taking in the different scenery and not bothering to look at the map once, wherever she ended up she was meant to be. She lived that way for the full year, only stopping in each place until she had enough money to move to the next, not putting roots anywhere.
When the year was up her mother and step father stood at the border waiting for Poppy to return, for a second she had concerned it but the little red car never crossed back over the lines of the safe haven. It was in that moment that Poppy made her decision clear to everyone in the family, she wasnât coming back, at least not right now. To Poppy it felt like there was world out there that she was dying to see, she didnât care about the threat of hunters that her mother warned about constantly. Instead it just pushed her even more from home until she hopped a plane to Europe, she spent time aboard working and backpacking. For a whole the only people Poppy even allowed herself to talk to was her siblings, with the promise that they wouldnât tell her parents where she was in fear that they would once more try to drag her back kicking and screaming.
It wasnât until her twenty-eighth birthday that Poppy even returned back to the States full time, she found herself on the West Coast with as many miles between her and her mother as she could. Along the way sheâd caught the attention of her father Silas and he sent other supernaturals out to watch his offspring in the hopes that maybe the could bring her to the coven or find a way for him to use her. Unfortunately before anything could play out Poppy was attacked by hunters, while sheâd always heard about the hunters never had she actually seen one in person. As she stood there frozen one of her fathers goons protected her and helped hold them at bay. As chaos erupted around her all Poppy could do was set everything ablaze while her nerves took over, rather than stick around she took off running with them. They didnât stop until she practically passed out from exhaustion, as she sat in the middle of nowhere with them, realization set in, she knew there was only one choice now. The hunters knew what she looked like and potentially who she was, her right to safety would be forever compromised.
Poppy left everything to her name behind, headed back to Lunar Cove, the one place that could protect her from any situation. As she crossed over the border she wasnât met with warm welcomes or open arms, instead she was shunned by her mother and step father for her disobedience. While sheâd tried to explain the situation to them all her mother had to say was she got what she deserved for leaving Lunar Cove, instead of trying to reason with her mother anymore she left. Instead of begging as her mother wanted she chose to take her exile from the family sheâd grown up with, figuring if they didnât want to be in her life then she wouldnât force them. Taking a job as a bartender at Neon Nights, she stayed in the apartment above the bar for the first year while she got on her feet and rejoined the coven with some rather cold glances from its members. While she passed her mother and step father constantly at meetings and in town, they were nothing more than strangers to her.
That was until the past year, when the previous supreme and her step father were murdered and the trials started. Poppy had sat in the stands watching her mother showed off her younger sister and swore to everyone that sheâd followed up in her step fathers foot steps and could do even better than him, sheâd be the supreme. But as she watched her siblings, mother, and witch after witch fail the test, Poppyâs time came. As she flew through each trial she found herself doubting that it would actually happen and that eventually she had to wash out, right? That was until she found herself in front of the ancestors and reality set in. By the time they offered the position to her, she had fainted. Rather than decide when she came to she asked for a few days to think before meeting with the ancestors once again. It was in those days that the news had leaked, sheâd became the talk of the coven. While she still wavered on the decision, she wanted more than anything for one of her siblings to take the position, but it was Alyssa who ended up pushing her towards the position. Alyssa had stormed in demanding that Poppy give up supreme, that she wasnât worthy, that if she took this sheâd turn out just like her father had. After all sheâd taken after him, more than her.
As Poppyâs time ran out and she found herself in front of the ancestors once more her mothers words replayed and rang in her head like a broken record. Instead of listening to her though Poppy took the position, promising that sheâd show not only her mother, but the coven that she was worthy of this position. After all this was her story, not her mothers or her fathers, she was in control of how it ended.

âMia, Iâm not going to go on Tinder to end a dry spell, nor am I going to sleep with any of the men here. They are all old and most likely married. Iâm not keen,â you groaned to your best friend.Â
Mia had dragged you out tonight because she said that you had a dry spell that needed to be broken, but you were not going to submit to your hormones, and you surely were not going to submit to some random guy on Tinder with the worst possible pick-up lines.Â
âLook, I can take care of myself. Men are useless and self-obsessed,â you claimed before sipping your martini.Â
âSurely not all men?â A voice spoke, making you choke on your drink.Â
You wiped your face wiped it of what? quickly and turned around in your seat to face the voiceâs owner. Your eyes widened like saucers upon seeing the man standing before you. You were speechless, and as your eyes scanned, trailed from his deep-set eyes, his impeccable build, and his thighs, thighs that you wanted to straddle and ride until you screamed his name over and over.Â
âNope, all men,â you quipped, making the handsome stranger smile at you, revealing his deep dimples.Â
âY/Nâs been burned by useless men, men whoâve claimed to be all that and then fell short, so sheâs quite cynical about most men,â Mia chimed. âOw!â Mia yelped when you kicked her shin for oversharing.Â
âWell, how about I get you another drink?â The man suggested, and Mia grinned before hopping off her barstool.Â
âGreat, you do that! I have an early shift tomorrow. Stay safe, Y/N,â Mia said, winking as she headed out of the bar, and you glared at her, knowing that her âstay safeâ comment also meant to use a condom.Â
âIâm Seungcheol.â The stranger introduced himself, and you nodded, turning around to face the bar as he sat down next to you.Â
âWell, you already know my name. My best friend did kind of yell it,â you deadpanned. You didnât care how ridiculously handsome Seungcheol was. He could just be another man who could talk a big game and be useless.Â
âWhat would you like to drink?â Seungcheol asked, and you shrugged. âSurprise me,â you said. You made a mental note that if he got you some fruity shit, youâd leave him the second the words left his mouth.Â
âHow about a Yuzu fizz gin and tonic?â Seungcheol offered, and you smiled at him, nodding.Â
âI can guess that if I ordered something you didnât approve of, you would have left the bar by now?â Seungcheol joked.
âWell, now youâll never know, will you?â You joked, making Seungcheol smile again.Â
âSo why are you here? Trying to find Prince Charming?â Seungcheol asked with a chuckle.
âOh, come on, be honest. Iâm not one to judge,â Seungcheol encouraged, and a sly grin formed on your face.Â
âIf you insist, then okay,â you started to say, inching closer to him, swallowing a gulp as you took in the scent of his cologne. It was musky, spicy, and woody all at once.Â
âIâve been stuck in a painfully long dry spell, and my hand is exhausted. I just need to find someone to fuck me hard,â you answered nonchalantly, and you swore you saw Seungcheol gulp slightly.Â
âYouâre telling me a woman as beautiful as you has not found a man?â Seungcheol asked as he moved away to hand you your drink. You took a sip out of the glass, smiling at the taste.Â
âGood?â Seungcheol asked, and you nodded.Â
âWould you like to try?â You asked, and Seungcheol shook his head.Â
âMaybe later?â Seungcheol replied, and you nodded.
âBut to answer your question, itâs not about looks. For instance, a guy might be doing well, then heâll say something obnoxious, and Iâll no longer be interested,â you explained.
âFair enough, I apologise on behalf of my species. We often get too excited when we see a beautiful woman and act up,â Seungcheol clarified, making you grin. Seungcheol was incredibly handsome and sweet, but you didnât feel anything. Nothing clicked. There was no instant chemistry; suddenly, you felt tired and bored and just wanted to be wrapped up in your blanket.Â
âWell, this was nice. Thank you for the drink, but I think I will call it a night,â you said, and Seungcheol simply smiled at you. You were relieved at how he wasnât pushy or objecting to the fact that you wanted to leave so early. Most of the men you had met would get defensive or be less than understanding if you wanted to go before they got to cop a feel.
âWait, how are you getting home?â Seungcheol asked.Â
âWalking home, itâs a twenty-minute walk,â you replied.
âY/N, you can punch me if I step out of line, but no, youâre not walking home alone.â You sighed, but you didnât mind entirely, plus you could kick him in the crotch if he acted up. You were cognizant enough to do so.Â
âWell then, Seungcheol, since itâs a bit of a walk, shall we play a game?â You asked as you both stepped out of the bar and started to walk.Â
âSeriously?â Seungcheol asked, grinning.Â
 âHumour me, Seungcheol .âÂ
âFine then.â
âGreat, letâs play twenty questions,â and you proceeded to ask. âHow old are you?âÂ
â30,â he replied.Â
âIf itâs not too rude to ask you, the same?â Seungcheol asked, and you smiled before replying, â25.âÂ
âI have another question if itâs not too crude?â Seungcheol asked, and you nodded at him to ask it. âWhen you said you wanted to be fucked hard, how hard?â You gulped; you swore his voice had gotten deeper and huskier since he left the bar. You chalked up your reaction to the cold air, playing tricks on your mind.Â
âIf letâs say, hypothetically, it was me, how hard would you want me to fuck you?â Seungcheol continued , making you stop and turn to face him. His eyes were piercing and burned through any façade you had on tonight.Â
âHard enough to make me forget my name,â you whispered, earning a nod from Seungcheol.Â
The rest of the walk was filled with silence, aside from a few questions from Seungcheol, but you couldnât get the vision of him standing over you and asking you how hard youâd like to be fucked out of your head.Â
âWell,â you breathed out when your eyes landed on your front door.Â
âThis is me,â you said, standing with your back against your front door.Â
âWait, I have one thing I want to try but donât worry, you still have permission to knee me in the balls,â Seungcheol teased, making you chuckle, only for a second, before his soft lips landed on yours. The kiss was so light it almost felt like nothing happened, but you knew it did because you felt your heartbeat out of your chest the minute his lips grazed yours.Â
âI always wanted to know what the Yuzu gin and tonic tasted like,â Seungcheol said smugly before moving away from you.
âWell, it was lovely meeting you,â Seungcheol said, leaving you speechless and breathless as he turned around and walked away from your front door.Â
âSeungcheol! Wait!â He turned around, smiling at you.Â
âWould you like to come in for a nightcap? We still have several questions left,â you suggested, hoping heâd say yes. Seungcheol grinned as he nodded, following you into your apartment.Â
Fifteen questions in, Seungcheol and you were on your living room sofa. You were cuddling into his side, your legs on his lap. Around five questions ago, Seungcheolâs hand started trailing your exposed thighs , and you had let out a few soft moans at his touch.Â
âQuestion sixteen for you, Y/N,â Seungcheol said, and you laughed at him.Â
âYou kept count?â You asked, and Seungcheol nodded. Â
âIâm very detail-oriented,â Seungcheol replied, and you rolled your eyes.. Seungcheolâs hand stopped trailing your thighs; instead, he gently squeezed them.Â
âTell me, how hard did you want to be fucked?â He asked again, and you quirked your brows at him.Â
âYou already asked,â you replied breathlessly, and Seungcheol shrugged.Â
âWould it hurt to get details?â Seungcheol pressed staring right into your eyes. You would be lying if you said you didnât start getting wet five questions ago, but now your core ached at his words.Â
âSo hard that I canât walk, so that Iâm a mumbling and whimpering mess.â You said as you moved so that you were straddling Seungcheol. You gently moved your hips against his, and you felt his length hardening.Â
âQuestion seventeen for you. Why did you ask me for a drink tonight?â you asked as Seungcheol groaned and held your waist, stopping your movements.
âWhen I saw you in this dress, I couldnât help but think about how I wanted to do nothing more than rip it off your body,â Seungcheol spoke, and you moaned at his words. His grip on your waist got tighter, and you were sure you would be bruised tomorrow, but you didnât care.Â
âQuestion eighteen, Y/N, are you wet right now?â Seungcheol asked, and you smirked and proceeded to reply with another question.Â
âQuestion nineteen, Seungcheol, do you want to find out?â You asked, and Seungcheolâs eyes darkened with lust as he nodded, lifting the pushed-up hem of your dress so that it was at the waistband of your panties.Â
Seungcheol looked at you for consent, and you nodded, giving it to him. He pulled your panties to the side and brushed his fingers through your folds. Seungcheol moaned at your wetness, then moved his fingers to his mouth, and relished your taste.Â
âFinal question, baby. Whatâs your safe word?â He asked.
âPeaches,â you replied.
âPeaches it is,â Seungcheol responded, content with your answer, he carried you to your bedroom to a night filled with absolute pleasure.Â
You woke up the following day to soft snores; you smiled softly at Seungcheol sleeping. Seungcheol looked incredibly handsome, even with his hair ruffled and mouth open as he snored lightly. You hated how you were romanticising this one moment, especially considering that it was the result of several drinks and very sexual questions that led him to your bedroom. Still, at this moment, you wished that this would be the view you could wake up to every day.Â
He was perfect. He was so sweet, loving, gentle, and kind all night long. You wouldnât be opposed to having that type of care and affection regularly.Â
You decided to get out of bed and grab your oversized nightshirt as you headed to the kitchen, leaving your bedroom quietly not to wake him up andruin the little daydream you were happily living in.Â
You took a detour, making sure to head to the bathroom first, freshen up, and then head to the kitchen, where you made a cup of green tea for yourself and a cup of hot coffee for Seungcheol. In your hazy recollection of last night, you remembered Seungcheol ordering a couple of espresso martinis, so you assumed coffee would be a good idea.Â
You held the mugs in your hand as you headed back to your bedroom, smiling when you saw Seungcheol sitting up, stretching, and smiling sleepily at you when he turned his head to face you.Â
âDamn, and here I thought you left me,â Seungcheol joked. His deep morning voice made you feel warm, like the tea that warmed your throat with every sip.Â
âItâs my house,â you replied, smiling at him and handing him a mug of coffee.Â
âSo, what do you do, Y/N?â Seungcheol asked. âAside from rock my world,â he added, joking, making you roll your eyes at him.Â
âIâm a freelance web designer, but I just took a break to travel with my friends for a bit, and so Iâm just getting back into it.I need to go out and hustle to get clients again,â you said, and you noticed an emotion you couldnât decipher flash across Seungcheolâs features.Â
You assumed he was squinting at the morning sunlight streaming into your bedroom, but it was gloomy. Still, it was early, and maybe he was just tired.Â
âWhat do you do?â You asked, not wanting to dwell on your thoughts for too long.Â
âIâm an English Literature professor at Seoul National University,â Seungcheol said, and you couldnât help but notice the hint of smugness that laced his tone. Still, then again, if you were a professor at the most prestigious universities in the country, maybe you, too, would behave that way.Â
âSo, youâre like a nerd?â You joked and knew it fell flat, noticing how Seungcheol gave you no reaction.Â
âIs it still a thing to call people nerds? Youngsters these days,â Seungcheol mused, and you couldnât help but again detect an undercurrent of an unpleasant tone that made you feel uncomfortable. You let it slide because you knew nothing about this man.Â
âI enjoyed last night,â you said softly, joining him on your bed, hoping to change the topic.Â
âI did, too. I didnât think heading out for a drink after work would help me find you,â Seungcheol agreed.Â
âI, uh,â you fumbled. You wanted to ask if he would be willing to see you again, and Seungcheol got the hint.Â
âI want to see you again, and not just to repeat last night, but because I want to get to know you more,â Seungcheol said, and you beamed at him.Â
âShit, I need to get home and shower and get to the university, but can I have your number? Iâll text you after my lecture today, and yes, Iâll text today itself because I donât believe in the whole bullshit of waiting for a day after to tell someone you enjoyed their company. I guess thatâs something I learned with age,â Seungcheol stated.Â
Then, you wondered if you felt Seungcheolâs age would be a motif you could never get rid of.Â
âWait, so the buff hot guy, you ended up going home with him and fucking him?â Mia exclaimed obnoxiously loud in the supermarket, making you glare at her as you got a few disapproving stares from fellow shoppers.Â
âOh, you need to work on your indoor voice. You will end up spilling my life story to the world,â you said, elbowing Mia, who shrugged.Â
âSo well, was he the kind of dick you want inside you again, or what?â Mia asked as you grabbed some pasta and put it in your shopping cart.Â
âHe asked me out,â you replied.âWell, sort of. He said he doesnât believe in waiting a while to text, so he said heâd text me today because he enjoyed my company,â you clarified, and you saw Miaâs grin widen.Â
âWhat does he do?â Mia asked. âHeâs a professor of literature and SNU,â you responded.
âDamn, I need your luck to get that kind of dick on a night out, a qualified dick, if you will,â Mia joked, making you laugh.Â
âI donât know, he still hasnât texted, and itâs nearly 7, and if he texts any later than that, itâll just be for a hookup, and I donât want to be a booty call,â you explained, and Mia nodded.Â
âWell, heâs a professor at one of the most prestigious universities. Maybe he got busy, and if he enjoyed your company, Iâm sure he doesnât only want sex,â Mia explained. You shrugged unsurely, and your phone buzzed in your pocket as if on cue.Â
Unknown Number: Hey, itâs Seungcheol. Sorry for not texting earlier like I said. Students had a lot of concerns, and itâs been a long day. I finally wrapped up, and if you havenât made plans already, Iâd like to take you out for a late-night dessert.
You smiled at your phone for what must have been too long, considering Mia decided to nudge you. âFucking reply, you dork, and have him for dessert because that man must be sweet,â Mia teased, wiggling her brows at you, making you roll your eyes at her as you typed a reply.Â
You: Hey Seungcheol, thatâs okay. Dessert? Colour me intrigued, where should I meet you?
Not even a minute afteryou sent the message, you saw the words âSeungcheol is typing,â flash across your screen, making you smile and feel giddy like a teenager having a crush.Â
Seungcheol: Send me your location, and Iâll pick you up.Â
You: Sure!Â
You: Location sent
Seungcheol: Perfect, see you in a few!Â
You grinned at your phone as Mia headed towards the check-out aisle. âWow, heâs offering to pick you up, too. Heâs already a keeper,â Mia stated, and you shrugged.Â
âHow?â You asked, curious to understand your best friendâs logic.Â
âHeâs going out of his way to meet you and pick you up; he wants to spend more time with you before the date. He isnât simply telling you to meet him at a place. He is making the time and effort to take you out on a date after a busy day. Thatâs a good sign,â Mia explained, making you smile.Â
You and Mia had paid for your groceries and now were waiting outside. You were conversing with Mia when a sleek black Mercedes caught your eye. It was a sexy car, and your eyes widened when Seungcheol stepped out of the car and smiled at you.Â
âSorry, I hope I didnât keep you in the cold too long?â Seungcheol said, and you shook your head at him.Â
âNot at all,â you said shyly, earning a particularly hard nudge at your side from Mia, who noticed your shyness.Â
âIâm Mia, you must be Seungcheol,â she greeted, making Seungcheol laugh.Â
âI remember you, youâre trouble; you were the one who was kind enough to inundate me with Y/Nâs sex life that night,â Seungcheol recalled, flustering Mia and you.Â
âWell, it worked out, didnât it?â Mia countered, making Seungcheol smile, allowing his deep dimples to appear, making you smile too.
âCanât deny thatâ, Seungcheol agreed, winking at you, making you smile even more, so much so that you thought your cheeks would break.Â
âWell, Iâll leave you to it,â Mia said as she started to walk away.
âWait, Mia, why donât I drive you home before we both head out on our date? Itâs cold and late,â Seungcheol offered, and for some reason, that stung. You donât know why. She was your best friend; sheâd never betray you, and Seungcheol, well, he was nothing to you right now.Â
Mia looked at you nervously, and you shrugged before nodding. âYeah, come on, girl, itâs cold out. Besides, itâs not a long drive,â you rambled nervously, and Mia nodded as she approached the car.Â
Seungcheol was nothing but a gentleman, holding the door open for youfirst, letting you in the front seat next to him, and then moving to help Mia into the back seat, and you couldnât help the ugly feeling of jealousy that stirred in the pit of your stomach.Â
Why would he help her after me? You thought and shook your head to rid yourself of those thoughts. You needed to compose yourself before Seungcheol joined you in the driverâs seat.Â
âAlright, Mia, why donât you tell me your address?â Seungcheol asked, flashing her a smile. You forced another smile at your best friend, annoyed at how your emotions clouded your ability to be rational, but Mia was right. Seungcheol was a catch, and you didnât fancy losing him to your best friend.Â
The entire drive to Miaâs apartment was filled with awkward silence, aside from a couple of jokes from Seungcheol and a few nervous giggles from Mia. You kept your gaze on the road ahead, refusing to engage in the conversation. You hated how your insecurities got the better of you and ruined a good time.Â
âThank you, Seungcheol,â Mia said softly, and for a second, you wanted to roll your eyes at her when you heard how sickly sweet her voice sounded, but then you realised thatâs what she always sounded like and that your insecurity nearly caused you to ignore your best friend. You could tell Mia had noticed too as she too kept stealing worried glances at you.Â
âHey, Iâd never, and Iâm sorry I imposed tonight,â Mia said as she exited the car and stood by your window. You let out a breath you didnât realise you were holding and nodded.Â
âI know, Iâm just sorry. I got insecure,â you admitted quietly, and Mia nodded before hugging you awkwardly.Â
âHave fun tonight. Remember, he wants to spend time with you. Youâre not a second option,â Mia reassured, and you smiled at her, mentally noting to send her a long and apologetic text after tonight.Â
Seungcheol, ever the gentleman, walked Mia to her door and waited for her to go inside before hereturned to the car, sat in the driverâs seat, and smiled at you, which you half-heartedly returned.Â
âOkay, did you and Mia argue before I showed up?â Seungcheol asked, and you shook your head. âThen why did you act as if I overstepped by dropping her home?â Seungcheol questioned, and you sighed.Â
âCan I blame it on insecurities, and you can drop this?â You asked, and Seungcheolâs face softened.Â
âI want to spend my night with you, not her. How about I make it up to you over the best cake ever?â Seungcheol suggested, and you nodded, smiling at him.Â
The drive was filled with the music in Seungcheolâs car and lo-fi remixes, and halfway along the drive, Seungcheol broke the silence.Â
âSo, this place is far, but I promise you itâs the best dessert place in the world. I know the owners, and Iâve known them since I was a kid, so theyâre like family, so the food is legit,â Seungcheol rambled, making you smile.Â
âSo busy day, huh?â You asked, and Seungcheol nodded as he moved one hand off the steering wheel to lace it with yours.Â
âYeah, but seeing you made it all better,â Seungcheol replied, making you smile at him.Â
âCute,â you replied, making him grin as he drove.Â
âWhat about you? How was your day?â Seungcheol asked, now properly holding your hand as he kept his free hand on the steering wheel and continued to drive.Â
âWell, I mean, it wasnât particularly productive. I asked a few clients if they had any upcoming projects I could assist with,â you explainedÂ
âWell, you canât be passive about it. If you want something, you need to chase after it,â Seungcheol explained and then winced slightly. âFuck sorry, Iâve been with students all day, repeating this shit to them, and I automatically clicked into professor mode; sorry,â Seungcheol apologised, reaching gently to take your hand and bring it to his lips.
âYouâre not exactly wrong, but maybe just keep the life coachâs advice for the kids?â You joked, and Seungcheolâs eyes lit up as he pulled into the familiar driveway of the bakery.
âWeâre here!â Seungcheol exclaimed excitedly as he parked the car, getting out first and heading to help you.Â
âOh,â you said, pointing to your grocery bag.
âLeave it here; itâs cool,â Seungcheol replied.Â
âShall we?â Seungcheol asked as he closed the car door behind you and held out his hand for you; you took it, smiling as his large hand engulfed yours, making you feel safe.Â
âIs that who I think it is?â A voice called out from the bakeryâs back, and Seungcheol grinned, hearing the voice as he replied.Â
âHalmeoni, it is. Cheol is hungry,â Seungcheol said playfully as he guided you into the bakery and a more petite older woman approached Seungcheol.Â
âOh, you are getting buffer by the day, and I see itâs paying off. Who is this beautiful woman?â The lady asked, making you smile shyly.
âY/N, she and I are here on a date, halmeoni,â Seungcheol explained, making you grin even more.Â
âWell, Iâm glad to see you are dating again. After Yoona, I thought I lost you for good,â the lady added, and you felt Seungcheolâs grip on your hand tighten at the mention of Yoona. Lost him how?
âHalmeoni, not now, please,â Seungcheol warned.Â
âMy dear, Y/N, how rude of me. Iâm Minji Kim, but you can address me as Halmeoni. Why donât you two sit? Iâll get you the specials?â Ms. Kim offered.Seungcheol nodded as he guided you inside to find a more secluded booth to sit in.Â
âI donât want to talk about it,â Seungcheol said softly as you sat down. You were about to counter, saying you werenât planning to ask him, but you decided against it. It wasnât your place. Not tonight, at least, not on a first date.Â
âThis is our best-selling product and Cheolâs favourite,â Ms. Kim interrupted a couple of minutes later, as she placed a molten cake on the middle of the table and placed down two forks as well.Â
âEnjoy, kids,â Ms. Kim said before she disappeared.Â
âI know it looks simple,â Seungcheol started to say, âBut this is the best thing ever. Open,â Seungcheol said as he picked up a forkful of the molten cake and moved the fork to your lips. You accepted the cake, letting out a hum of approval as the chocolatey taste filled your mouth.Â
âFuck, thatâs amazing,â you praised, and Seungcheol smirked as he took a bite for himself.Â
âHalmeoni says the love she pours into the cake makes it so delicious. Sheâll never tell me her recipe, even if I beg,â Seungcheol complained, and you laughed at him.Â
âIsnât that better? Some things are better left unsaid. It might ruin the magic,â you said, and Seungcheol smiled slightly.Â
âAh, the childlike wonder, cute,â Seungcheol said, earning a funny look from you.Â
âIs that a problem?â You asked, moving your hand away from him. Seungcheol shook his head.Â
âNo, I guess I have a very black-and-white view of the world, and sometimes I fail to account that other people donât. I like that you see the world with all its beauty and colours,â Seungcheol explained.
âWell, stick around me long enough, and maybe youâll see the world with a bit more colour?â you suggested, and Seungcheol shrugged.Â
âWeâll see,â Seungcheol said, and you gathered from his tone that he didnât fancy discussing this issue further.Â
âHey, youâve got cake on your face,â Seungcheol said, leaning forward, and you assumed heâd wipe the cake off your lips. Instead, you were met with his soft lips. You melted against his lips as they moved against yours, only for him to pull away for a second and then find your lips again. You pulled away this time with a light smile.Â
âHalmeoni will have the worst impression of me if all I do is make out with you here,â you joked, and Seungcheol smirked.Â
âI agree. How about we finish this cake, and maybe I can show you how much I wanted to spend my day with you instead of lecturing my students?â Seungcheol suggested, and you couldnât help how your expression changed.Seungcheol caught onto it as well.Â
âI didnât ask you out only to have sex with you, I promise. I want your company, but I also want to be able to hold your hand and maybe steal a few kisses here and there. Iâd rather do that in a comfortable setting and not traumatise poor halmeoni,â Seungcheol clarified as he placed another kiss on your lips, and you hummed into the kiss.Â
âShall we?â Seungcheol asked, and you nodded. You stood up with him, placing your hand in his, and following him to the counter as he paid for the cake, much to your and halemoniâs protests. Seungcheol smiled as he walked out the bakery door, ensuring to wave to Ms. Kim. You felt yourself becoming more enamoured by his actions. Â
You concluded that Seungcheol could have a hard exterior, but soft inside, much like the lava cake. He could seem slightly unapproachable with his curt and short replies, but if you dug deep enough, you knew he was filled with nothing but love and warmth, and you were determined to get to know that Seungcheol.Â
You were determined that you could be that one for him, the one heâd let in.Â
âPenny for your thoughts?â Seungcheol asked as his voice took you out of your daydream of becoming the future Mrs Choi.Â
âI enjoyed tonight; well, everything tonight has been so incredible,â you admitted, and Seungcheol turned to smile at you, nearly running through the red light, making you laugh and gasp.
âFuck, do you think being distracted by you is a valid reason for running a red light?â Seungcheol joked, and you shook your head at him.Â
âNope, but I think itâs cute,â you said as you placed your hand on his knee.Â
âThat impatient? Weâre almost back at mine,â Seungcheol teased, and you rolled your eyes at him, pinching his knee a bit which made him laugh.Â
The drive back to Seungcheolâs place was filled with jokes and flirty remarks.Once Seungcheol reached his apartment, he couldnât park the car soon enough and hurriedly helped you out, practically running to his apartment with your hand in his.Â
The minute you were inside his apartment, you took a second to take off your red scarf. You placed it on the coat hanger by the door and squealed in surprise when Seungcheol turned you around in his embrace, bending down to lift you into his arms and carry you over to his sofa.Â
You stared at him, confused. What did he want? Was it just sex? You wondered, and Seungcheol spoke, ending your worries within seconds.Â
âI just want to hold you like this, in my arms, look,â Seungcheol started to say as he adjusted his position so that you were lying between his body, your chin on his toned chest. âMaybe Iâm moving too quickly, but I told you I donât believe in all that bull shit of following rules. Youâre the first person Iâve felt this comfortable with for so long, so forgive me if all this is too much because I can reign it in,â Seungcheol admitted as he stroked your cheek, making you smile.Â
You sat up for a second tokick off your boots, taking your position back, and laying on his chest. âI donât need you to reign any of this in,â you reassured. Seungcheol was special; he was older, wiser, and something you had never had. You werenât about to lose him for the sake of some social constructs relating to dating.Â
You always felt like people made up or exaggerated when it came to how love made them feel. You had friends, like Mia, who would act like they were on cloud nine or something when they were in love, and you never understood it. It wasnât because you were traumatised as a child or anything, far from it.Â
You were a happy kid, but your parents werenât in love. You knew that your parents stayed married for your sake, and while you would always commend them for that because you knew you could never do that, you never understood the point of pretending. All that to say, you never grew up with a perfect example of what love looked like, and after shitty hookups and your fair share of fuck boys and heartbreak, you gave up on the concept.Â
You didnât hate love; you just assumed it was something inconceivable that others got, the lucky ones, and you, you didnât think youâd ever get it. You had convinced yourself that for so long, until you met Seungcheol, until that first kiss with him.
Now, four months later, you watched your boyfriend working.Â
That was your man, your safe space, your home. Even though there were petty fights and arguments, you two would make it work because thatâs what people do when theyâre in love.Â
They fight for each other.Â
âOkay, I guess Iâm decent-looking enough, but youâve been staring at my face for the past ten minutes, with a smile on yours,â Seungcheol chuckled as he looked at you.Â
âWait, Iâve been staring for that long?â You asked, feeling slightly flustered. Seungcheol nodded as he pulled you closer into his chest.Â
âWhatâs on your mind?â Seungcheol asked as his hand traced patterns lazily on your lower back.Â
âI just-,â you started to say.âAre you real?â You asked Seungcheol, who furrowed his brows at you.Â
âWhat?â Seungcheol asked
âI donât know, I fuck. I never believed that I could have something like this,â you said shyly, and Seungcheol smiled fondly at you.Â
âLike what?â Seungcheol encouraged, and you took a deep breath to sit up and adjusted until you sat crossed-legged next to Seungcheol on the bed. He soon followed, sitting up, and leaning against his headboard.Â
âLike, I always thought love was a beautiful concept, but it was a concept that others would get, not me. I never thought I would find someone who would love me, how you do, how you make me feel when you kiss me, and how I feel when I hold your hand. Seungcheol, I feel safe with you, and thatâs something I never associated with love. Love was always so unrealistic to me,â you rambled and paused to look at Seungcheol, who smiled fondly at you.Â
âThatâs why I asked if you were real, or something I made up because I was so desperate to feel loved and to be loved,â you admitted.
Seungcheol placed his hand over yours. âYou feel safe with me?â He asked.
âThe safest. I feel like Iâm floating. When Iâm with you, I feel like youâve taken me to a place so high, where there is nothing but love and safety,â you babbled, letting your feelings pour out and making Seungcheol smile widely at you.Â
âFuck, then, this is not a good time to say this is it?â Seungcheol said, and for a second, you felt like you had come down from the proverbial cloud you were floating on.Â
âUh, say, what?â You fumbled, and Seungcheol grinned at you before leaning over to kiss your lips softly.Â
âTo say that I love you,â Seungcheol admitted, making your eyes widen. Â
âTo be honest, Iâve been meaning to say it for a while now.I just didnât know if it was the right time or too soon, and I didnât want to scare you off or anything, but hearing what you said made me realise that I too have nothing to fear when Iâm with you,â Seungcheol confessed, making you? at his words as you moved to crawl into his lap.Â
âYou love me?â You asked.
âI love you,â Seungcheol repeated, and you beamed at him.Â
âI love you more.â
Four Months Later: The First Crack in the Glass
âHow was work?â You asked Seungcheol one evening, and he groaned as he flopped into your bed, wrapped his arms around your waist, and cuddled you, making you smile. Your boyfriend might have been a big shot and a fancy literature professor, but he was a giant teddy bear behind closed doors, and in moments like this, you were reminded of it.Â
âYou want to know?â Seungcheol asked as he sat up and stood up to take off his shirt and pull off his work clothes to change into a more comfortable pair of sweats.Â
âI was teaching the kids about Sylvia Plath,â Seungcheol said slowly.Â
âOh, shit, Iâve heard of her,â you said absentmindedly, and Seungcheol let out a soft hum.
âSheâs one of the greatest writers, and youâve only heard of her?â Seungcheol asked. There was a hint of condescension in his voice, and you couldnât help but feel like there was a hint of judgment from him.Â
âCheol, tell me about her work,â you said, trying to push down the funny feeling his words left you with.Â
âI mean, what can I say? You smiled, watching him, listening intently as he fell into a soliloquy about Sylvia Plathâs writing. âThe woman was troubled. Like any great artist, she used her pain to create beauty. She turned her darkest thoughts into the most beautiful words,â Seungcheol explains.Â
âWhoâs your favourite poet?â Seungcheol asked suddenly, and you shrugged.Â
âI donât know if I have one. Literature was something I liked, and I enjoyed everything I read. I donât think I cared enough to love one author exclusively,â you replied, earning a grunt from Seungcheol.Â
âYou couldnât have liked it enough if you canât even tell me a favourite author. What about a poem or novel?â Seungcheol pressed, and you glared at him.Â
âYou sound like an arrogant prick,â you mumbled, and Seungcheol laughed and held up his hands in defeat.Â
âOkay, I apologise,â Seungcheol said, but the smile on his face made you realise that he didnât mean it.Â
âI loved the play A Dollâs House,â you said, and Seungcheolâs eyes widened.
âYouâre familiar with Ibsen?â He asked, unable to mask the surprise in his voice.Â
âJust because Iâm not some fancy fucking professor doesnât make me stupid,â you said, inching away from him, and Seungcheol let out a soft sigh.Â
âWhat did you love the most about the play?â Seungcheol asked.Â
âI guess, like Nora, I too feel like I always need to be a certain way and that people have an expectation of what and how I should be,â you admitted, looking down at your blanket, and you felt Seungcheol pull you into his arms.Â
âI hope thatâs not because of my thoughtless remarks?â Seungcheol asked, cupping your face with his large hands, and you shook your head.Â
âNo, but I guess just life. I just see so many people my age settling down, with a family and kids, and everything, and they have a steady job, and just everything,â you mumbled, and Seungcheol nodded, pressing a kiss to your forehead.Â
âSo? Thatâs their journey, not yours, my love. You will have all those things when itâs right. You donât need to rush it,â Seungcheol said, and you smiled at him.Â
âThatâs one of my biggest insecurities, and I donât think Iâve ever voiced it, not even to Mia,â you confessed.
âI appreciate that you trust me with it and know that itâs a feeling that Iâll keep safe with me,â Seungcheol promised his words making you melt.Â
âYouâre my safety net?â You asked, and Seungcheol nodded.Â
âYep,â Seungcheol responded.Â
âOh, babe, my friends wanted to meet you, so I asked them over to dinner at mine, join me? I want to introduce them to the woman, who, I quote, âmakes me less of a miserable bastardâ,â Seungcheol explained.Â
âIâd love to,â you replied.âWait, miserable bastard?â You asked, unable to fight the slight grin on your face.Â
âWhen Yoona and I ended things, I was a miserable bastard,â Seungcheol explained.
âUm, not to rehash shitty memoriesâŠâ you started to say, and Seungcheolâs soft smile turned into a harsh glare as he spoke.Â
âThen donât. Iâm not interested in talking about her, and itâs none of your business,â Seungcheol snapped, and you nodded, feeling embarrassed for even bringing it up or attempting to.Â
âThere are some things in life we keep to ourselves, right? For all our lives, a secret we take to our grave, Yoona, is that for me,â Seungcheol explained, and you sighed in acceptance, wondering how awful that relationship could have been for him to be still so resentful.Â
âI get it. Youâll never hear her name from me again,â you vowed.
âThank you,â Seungcheol breathed out.Â
âFuck, does this dress look okay?â You asked, waltzing out of Seungcheolâs bathroom in a black cocktail dress. Seungcheol barely looked up as he placed the wine glasses on the dinner table.Â
âCheol,â you huffed, and he looked up at you.Â
âMy friends will like you; they donât care about what you wear,â Seungcheol said, and you walked over to the dining table with a sigh
âI get that, but still,â you trailed off, and Seungcheol shrugged.Â
You were about to respond when the doorbell rang. âCool, theyâre here. Just be yourself. Theyâll like you,â Seungcheol affirmed, and you sighed, nodding, as you watched him open the door for his guests.Â
âJeonghan, Chan, Mingyu, and Joshua, this my love, Y/N,â Seungcheol introduced you proudly, waving towards you as the four men walked into the house. You smiled and waved at them awkwardly.Â
âWhy donât we get a few drinks, and then we can all get acquainted?â Seungcheol offered, and the rest agreed with nods and hums.Â
âSo, what do you do?â Jeonghan asked.Â
âWell, Iâm a web designer, so I do a lot of freelance work,â you explained, and Jeonghan nodded, smiling. âThatâs incredibly impressive,â Jeonghan complimented.Â
âWhat do you do?â You asked, and Jeonghan took a sip of his wine before answering.Â
âI also work with your boyfriend, except I teach law,â Jeonghan replied, and you nodded.Â
You were about to reply when you were suddenly interrupted by Seungcheol. âOh, Jeonghan, donât bore her; sheâs not into the academia,â Seungcheol said. You knew he meant no harm by it, but it made you feel like an idiot.Â
Did your boyfriend think you werenât smart enough to converse with someone other than him?Â
âWell, everyone likes criminal law, murders, and stuff,â Jeonghan joked, attempting to ease the tension, as he noticed how your face fell with Seungcheolâs comment.Â
âI know, I love watching crime documentaries,â you added. âSame. What would you say are your favourites? Forensic files?â Jeonghan asked.Â
âY/N, you know that watching a documentary on crime, especially an extremely overproduced TV show, does not mean you understand the details of the law. You watch crime shows because you find it cool, but Jeonghan teaches the law. He respects and appreciates it immensely,â Seungcheol added, and you baulked at his words.Â
âIgnore him, Y/N, this pompous literature professor thinks that if you donât like Sylvia Plath, youâre a disgrace as a reader. Seungcheol canât understand that while her work is untouchable, itâs too much, and thatâs not a mark of oneâs intelligence. Rather what they like,â Jeonghan said. His last words were directed to Seungcheol and were emphasised with a particularly intense glare at him.Â
âCheol, why donât you look after the kids? Yeah, I think Joshua said something about replacing all your vintage books with decoys,â Jeonghan offered, and you were thankful for his comment as Seungcheol stalked off to the kitchen.Â
Jeonghan looked at you sympathetically before motioning for another man to join you in the conversation. He looked younger, and he had a bright smile.Â
âThis is Chan. Heâs the baby of the group,â Jeonghan said, and you couldnât help but think that his words were a dig at you, but you saw no malice in his voice. He just wanted you to meet another face.Â
You started a conversation with Jeonghan and Chan; this time, it was just about lighthearted topics. Thankfully, Seungcheol didnât interrupt with a patronising comment.Â
âDinnerâs set!â Seungcheol announced, and you sighed. You finally felt better about what happened between you two earlier, but you decided to swallow your pride and join him at the dining table.Â
âNo way you did all this, Cheol,â A man you vaguely remember called Mingyu mumbled, and Seungcheol laughed.Â
âTrue, my love here..â Seungcheol said as he moved closer to you and wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you in to kiss your cheek softly.Â
âShe helped. I would have burnt the bloody house down,â Seungcheol said. You took a deep breath before nodding in agreement.Â
You decided youâd chalk up Seungcheolâs initial crappy behaviour to him just being nervous, and maybe he just wanted to save you from a boring conversation but just had a terrible way of executing his plan.Â
Youâd let it go and try to enjoy the rest of the night.Â
Except, that didnât go to plan. Several minutes into the conversation, Seungcheolâs grip on your hand loosened, and by the time dessert was placed, Seungcheol had his chair tilted so that his back was facing you and no longer looking at you or engaging you in the conversation.Â
You felt awkward. Everyone in the room knew each other except you. You were the odd one out, and your boyfriend seemed completely fine ignoring you, too. You didnât want him to coddle you, but you didnât expect him to turn his back on you.Â
You placed your hand on Seungcheolâs back once to get his attention, but he merely shrugged it off, and you felt tears threatening to spill, so you politely and wordlessly excused yourself, not that anyone noticed.Â
You excused yourself to Seungcheolâs study, where you found yourself a bottle of wine, and decided to sip that and stayed all night and didnât emerge until after dinner and his friends left.Â
âHey, I thought Iâd find you here. Why didnât you join us for dinner? I told them you came down with a headache, but I got to say you didnât make me look good, doing that,â Seungcheol explained as he walked into his study, and you rolled your eyes at him as you took another sip of your wine.Â
âI just wanted to introduce you to my friends, and you just decided you couldnât be bothered?â Seungcheol scolds, and you scoff.Â
âWhy are you so pissed off?â Seungcheol asked as he sat across you, and you stood up and walked over to the window.Â
âIâm not pissed off. Who said I was pissed off?â You said sarcastically, and Seungcheol sighed.
âYouâre acting pissed off,â Seungcheol added. You sighed before speaking.Â
âYou acted like I was a fucking dumbass; what the hell was the comment you gave to Jeonghan? That Iâm not into academia, or that I can't understand the law because I watch a Netflix show about crime? You made me look like a fucking moron,â you spat.
âLook, whenever I try to show you anything about my work, you get bored, and you either fall asleep or canât keep up. I was trying to save you that with Jeonghan,â Seungcheol replied, and you stared at him in shock.Â
âI donât fall asleep because Iâm not interested. I fall asleep because you talk to me like a student. You lecture me; if you spoke to me about your work the way you do with your friends, with that same enthusiasm, then maybe Iâd pay more attention, but you fucking donât!â You shot back, making Seungcheol sigh.Â
âSo, what was I meant to do? Let you try and have a conversation with Jeonghan about the law, something you know nothing about?â Seungcheol asked, and you nearly slapped the smug look off his face.
âFuck you. You donât need to have a masterâs degree or prior knowledge about a subject to be interested in it and for fucks sake. I just wanted to get to know your friends, but whenever I tried, you intercepted the conversation with a comment that just made me sound like a fucking child,â you yelled at him, and Seungcheol groaned.Â
âThis was meant to be a good night, and youâre making it all about you,â Seungcheol mumbled.Â
âMe? How? You barely acknowledged me, you turned your fucking chair around and didnât look at me during dinner. You barely tried to include me. Your friends, theyâre all older than me, and you made no fucking effort to include me,â you yelled at Seungcheol.
âYou have a mouth. You could speak up. No one would stop you,â Seungcheol offered, earning a glare from you.Â
âWhy would I fucking do that? Whenever I contribute anything, you show up to either call me an idiot, or when I do try to get your attention actively, you fucking shrug me off. Do you know how that feels?â You asked, your voice trembling.Â
âFuck donât cry. Thatâs not fucking fair. I donât even remember the fact I shrugged you off. You canât attack me for something I donât even know about,â Seungcheol retaliated.Â
âFuck can you just acknowledge that you fucked up a little bit? Youâre making me feel so fucking stupid,â you choked out, and Seungcheol shrugged.Â
âI donât think Iâm making you feel that way. I think youâre making yourself feel that way,â Seungcheol offered, and you glared at him.
âFine, then, if Iâm so fucking stupid. Then, I should just let you be. Iâm going home. I donât want you to feel even more stupid with me around,â you snarled, slamming your wine glass down hard enough to startle Seungcheol but not hard enough to break the glass.Â
You stormed out of the room as Seungcheol helplessly followed after you. âWait, Y/N, fucking wait. Itâs late, please just stay until the morning, and Iâll drop you off; I canât drive you home yet, Iâve had too much to drink for it to be safe,â Seungcheol argued, and you scowled at him.Â
âI donât fucking need this. I can take a cab,â you said, grabbing your phone, and Seungcheol shook his head at you.Â
âNot a fucking chance, not so late, please; just let me sober up, and Iâll drive you back?â Seungcheol pleaded, and you gave in.
âIâm going to clean up,â you said, shoving past him and heading into the kitchen as you started to clean up the mess.Â
âLet me help,â Seungcheol offered, and you ignored him. âBabe, please, Iâm fucking sorry, just let me help you?â Seungcheol asked again, and you failed to notice how close he was standing next to you. You bumped into him, managing to drench yourself in red wine.Â
âFuck,â you hissed out as the tears threatened to spill over.
âGo, take a shower, Iâll clean up,â Seungcheol said, taking the glasses out of your hands, and you nodded as you silently walked back to the bedroom and stripped, putting your black dress in the laundry hamper and stepping into the shower.
You felt the tears stream down your face. As you washed up, you started to rationalise the fight in your mind. Maybe you had overreacted, or maybe Seungcheol just got caught up in the moment, hell youâve been guilty of that yourself when you meet your friends, so why should you hold him to a different standard?
You stepped out of the shower, wrapped yourself in one of Seungcheolâs fluffy white towels, and headed out of the bathroom to find Seungcheol sitting looking forlorn on the edge of the bed.Â
âIâm fucking sorry,â Seungcheol mumbled, and you sighed as you leant against the wall.Â
âI may have overreacted a bit. I just wanted to feel loved, but I get it, time and place,â you said.Â
âI do love you, and tonight I acted like a fucking ass. I just wanted to impress my friends, and I did it at your expense. Can you forgive me?â Seungcheol asked.Â
âI can,â you said, holding out your hand to him, which he took and walked over until he was towering over you.
âHow can I make it up to you?â Seungcheol asked as he placed a soft kiss on your lips, which you gladly reciprocated.Â
âWell,â you started to say as you undid the towel, letting it drop to the floor, and Seungcheol smiled at you.Â
âYou want to make it up to me, Cheol?â Seungcheol nodded furiously. You reached down and placed your hand gently on the top of his head and moved his head so his face was at your cunt.Â
âShow me how sorry you are,â you said, guiding his head into your pussy. Seungcheol gently pushed your back into the wall. He lifted your leg and wrapped it around his shoulder. He started by placing soft kisses, gently kissing your cunt. He ran his tongue over your folds, moaning as he tasted your arousal.Â
âSo sweet,â Seungcheol praised and dove back in with more desperation. He moved his tongue to your clit, and flicked his tongue against it. You moaned in approval, and he continued his movements.Â
He suddenly pulled his mouth away from your core, lifted you, and walked over to your bed. He laid you down gently, and his mouth found your cunt again. Seungcheol positioned himself on his knees at the edge of the bed, his tongue now reaching your entrance. He pushed his tongue inside you, and you mewled at the feeling. He shoved his tongue further into your cunt, and his hand reached your clit.Â
He rubbed at the swollen nub, and you soon found yourself cumming on his tongue. Your hips bucked against his face as you rode out your orgasm. As soon as you got down from your high, Seungcheol shoved two fingers into your pussy making you squeal at the oversensitivity.Â
He pushed his fingers deep inside of you until he reached a rough patch of skin, and you squealed. He smirked, and he started moving his wrist up and down, making his fingers repeatedly hit the spot inside you. It had you seeing stars.Â
Your second orgasm hit you harder as you felt yourself squirt for him. You were clawing at the bedsheet for support; the way he made your body feel was incredible. He latched his full lips around your swollen clit as he furiously pumped his fingers inside you, and a few short licks and you fell apart again.Â
You whimpered into the bedsheet, which was now soaking wet, and you reached your hands out for him. He smirked, and he pushed you back further onto the bed as he stripped himself. Seungcheol then climbed over and on top of you. He grabbed your legs and wrapped them around his waist. His hard cock was resting against your aching cunt. Just seeing his length made you delirious.Â
He was so thick the first time you had sex with him, you couldnât even comprehend his thickness. He made you feel so full and had indeed ruined you for other men. His length was perfect, it was able to go deep inside you, and the thickness another word allowed you to feel so good. He filled you up. You bucked your hips against him, rubbing your wet folds against his cock, and he hissed at that. He pushed himself into you, and you moaned at the stretch.Â
His hands moved to unwrap your legs and positioned them around his neck. The new position allowed him to go deeper, and he pushed deep into your cunt. His thrusts were paced perfectly. Slow enough to make you feel every inch of his cock, and fast enough to make you moan.Â
âHarder, Cheol,â you whimpered, and Seungcheol smirked. He pulled out of you and flipped you over onto your hands and knees. He realigned himself and pushed into you.
You and Seungcheol always played rough and pushed each other beyond your limits. Your pussy was making obscene noises as you had cummed so hard. He picked up his pace, knowing he would not last much longer, and his grip went to your throat. You somehow found the ability to tap his hand, letting him know to choke you harder. You liked it, and so did he.Â
His grip around you tightened. He pushed into you, and you fell apart again. This time, you screamed into the pillow, and Seungcheol released not too long after you. He flipped you back over, laying you down on your back. He moved down again to your pussy, and licked and sucked. He moaned, tasting your release and his.Â
He always did this; he wanted to lick your pussy after cumming inside you. You didnât complain. A few more licks and one final suck to your entrance, and you came once again. He placed the last kiss on your cunt and pulled you into his arms.Â
âIâm still so fucking sorry,â Seungcheol apologised, and you rolled over to place your head on his chest.Â
âItâs okay, just donât do it again?â You said, and Seungcheol nodded, pulling you into a soft kiss as he held you until you fell asleep in his arms. The feeling of safety was still there, but why did it feel like there was a slight tear in the safety net that was your love?
You shook it off, thinking it was expected. Couples fought.Â
You two would be fine.Â
âMorning gorgeous,â Seungcheol mumbled the following day as he wrapped his arms around your waist while you made tea.Â
âHi,â you replied, turning around to face him as he pulled you into a soft kiss.Â
âI want to talk to you about something,â Seungcheol said, and you looked at him nervously.Â
âChill, itâs not a bad thing. Well it is, but it doesnât affect us,â Seungcheol explained as he guided you into the living room and onto the sofa.Â
âYoona, she was my first love, my first everything. Well, not everything, but she sure felt like it. I thought she and I would be together for the rest of our lives. I proposed, and she said yes, and somewhere along the road, everything went wrong. I found out she cheated several times while we were engaged,â Seungcheol explained as you held your breath.Â
âSo, whenever she is mentioned, I get agitated because she ruined me and made me cynical until I met you. You make me happy, happier than Iâve been in a very long time,â Seungcheol explained, and you sighed, feeling terrible for him.Â
âI want to continue making you happy for a long time, Seungcheol. I wonât ever hurt you like her,â you promised, making him smile at you.Â
âI love you, and Iâm sorry for last night. Look, thereâs a cocktail party at the university next Friday evening. Iâd like you there and want to show you off to everyone. I want to show off my girl,â Seungcheol said proudly.Â
âIâd like that,â you said, placing your lips on his plush ones.Â
You, too, would be fine. It was a slip-up, not a crack in the safety netâjust a slip.Â
âGood god, I was starting to think that Seungcheol had kidnapped you or something,â Mia joked, making you laugh nervously as she entered your apartment and hugged you tightly.Â
âWhy would you think that?â You asked, genuinely concerned about why your best friend had such a vivid imagination.Â
âWell, youâve only spoken to me a few times within the four months that you and Seungcheol have been dating, and I say this with as much honesty as I can. Donât become one of those girls that ditches all her friends once she finds a guy,â Mia joked, but you knew there was some weight to her words.Â
âMia, that was in university, and it happened once. Iâm not the same person anymore,â you defended, and Mia nodded.Â
âSo why did you want me to come over, girlsâ night, or trouble in paradise?â Mia asked, and how you chewed your bottom lip nervously was enough of a tell for Mia to sigh and understand.Â
âWhy donât you sit? Iâll grab the wine, and Iâll explain everything,â you explained another word, and Mia nodded as she kicked off her shoes and got comfortable on your couch.Â
You handed her a glass of cabernet and held another glass for yourself as you sat down on the sofa and started telling her about every detail for the last four months. It was going well until you finished recalling the details of last nightâs fight.Â
âWait, he did fucking what, and you fucking forgave him? Why because he made you cum?â Mia accused, and you cringed. You had just finished recounting the entire story of the dinner with Seungcheol.Â
âHe made a mistake,â you mumbled, and Mia scoffed. âA mistake is forgetting to order dessert, not ignoring your girlfriend, or treating her like sheâs a bumbling idiot!â Mia fired back, making you sink into your seat.Â
âSorry, you need to talk to him about this. Sex is not an apology, and why did you forgive him? Did he just gaslight you into forgiving him? Is that what happened? Did he say that youâre being crazy or shit like that?â Mia interrogated, and you kept shrinking in your seat.Â
âMia, shut up. Stop using such extreme words for him,â you whimpered. You didnât like how loud her voice had gotten, and she sighed.Â
âHe used sex as an apology. Y/N, do you not know how big of a red flag that is? And the fact that you gave in makes it even worse because youâve now set the precedent that he can pull this sort of shit with you, and youâll forgive him if he makes you cum hard enough!â Mia rattled off, and you wanted to smack her if it meant shutting her up. Instead of being rational, you decided to defend your boyfriend, even if it meant doing it at the expense of hurting your best friend.Â
âMia fuck you. You were in a relationship with, what was that guyâs name, you remember, the one who cheated on you for four months straight, and you kept taking him back. Youâre going to lecture me about being spineless in my relationship when you let a guy walk all over you for four months straight because you were so fucking desperate!â You snarled and regretted the minute the words left your lips because you saw how hurt overtook Miaâs face and how her lower lips trembled.Â
âI havenât seen this side of you in a while. You were like this in university, where once you fell for a guy, you became blind to his every flaw and then lashed out at anyone who tried to tell you otherwise. You know what, Y/N, you know where I live. Find me when you decide to take off your rose-coloured glasses. I canât bear the sight of you right now,â Mia said, placing the wine glass down on your coffee table and storming out of your house.Â
You felt awful, but Mia was wrong to assume that Seungcheol would use sex as an apology instead of actually apologising instead. You shook your head and sighed, finishing your glass of wine. You would reach out to Mia eventually.
âFucking hell, you look beautiful, my love. I might just be the luckiest man alive,â Seungcheol praised as you stepped out of your bedroom.Â
You wore a red evening gown that exposed enough of your chest to be enticing but also respectable for a formal event at a university. You topped off your look with makeup that brought out your best features and slipped on red strappy heels.Â
âShall we?â Seungcheol asked. You looked up at him. He was wearing a black suit, and you honestly wanted to skip the university party and have him take you right here. Now, as if he could read your thoughts, Seungcheol laughed.Â
âDonât worry, you can rip this suit off me after tonight,â Seungcheol said, making you laugh too as you took his hand and headed to the party.Â
âY/N! So lovely to see you again,â Jeonghan greeted when you and Seungcheol entered the venue.Â
âWhat about me?â Seungcheol joked childishly, making Jeonghan roll his eyes.
âNeedy, isnât he?â Jeonghan teased, and you laughed.
âBut you love me,â Seungcheol said, and you smiled
âI do,â you said, making him smile backbefore he looked up, and he suddenly froze as his eyes fixated on a figure across the room.Â
âCheol?â You asked, noticing how Jeonghan also looked tense as both men intently stared at the figure, now making her way across the room to greet them.Â
âJeonghan, my favourite law professor, you know my students miss you dearly!â The lady joked.Â
âYoona,â Jeonghan acknowledged, and you, like Seungcheol, felt as if all the air had been sucked out of the room.Â
This was Yoona?Â
This was the woman that broke Seungcheolâs heart? This woman, who Seungcheol failed to explain, worked alongside him. She was a colleague of his. He saw her every day at work, and nowhere during the four months did he think to mention that he still worked alongside his ex-fiancĂ©.Â
You also felt Seungcheol let go of your hand, and you could have sworn he inched away from you.Â
âSeungcheol, itâs so lovely to see you, and who might this be?â Yoona asked as her gaze turned to you, making you gulp and then pale in horror as Seungcheol could not answer for a second.Â
âSheâs a friend,â Seungcheol mumbled, and you saw Jeonghan shake his head slightly, and you sighed at him, holding your hand to out to Yoona
âPleasure to meet you. How do you know Seungcheol?â You asked, feigning innocence, and you heard Seungcheol fail to bite back a hiss.Â
âIâm a colleague of his, and oh, I guess we have some history, actually pun intended on that.I teach art history here. Are you a prospective student?â Yoona asked, and you stared at her and looked back to see Seungcheol âs poker face staring back at you.Â
âNo, Iâm not a student. Iâm amazed that youâd think that,â you replied, unable to keep the slight bite use a different word your tone had to it.Â
âWell, what do you?â Yoona asked, and you were about to answer when Yoona beat you to the punch.
âWell, you must be a fellow academic. Our Cheol here has a type,â Yoona said as she shot you a wink and waltzed away from the conversation, leaving you a mess and Seungcheol angry.Â
âOkay, Iâm going to leave you two to it,â Jeonghan said as he rushed off too. You started to feel the room close in on you and you just wanted to leave.
âWould you excuse me? I need to make a phone call,â you said hastily as you ripped your arm out of Seungcheolâs hold and nearly ran out of the ballroom and outside to a quieter area of the venue until you found a secluded bench to sit on as you gathered your thoughts.Â
âI thought Iâd find you here,â you turned around to see Seungcheol standing, staring at you withhis hands in his pockets and looking at you with an emotion you couldnât decipher. Was it guilt or annoyance?Â
âThatâs Yoona?â You asked, and Seungcheol simply stared at you.Â
âThe Yoona?â You repeated, and Seungcheol sighed, nodding as he walked over to stand across from you. You could not look at him.Â
âWhat?â Seungcheol asked, and you let out a dry laugh at his ability to be so damn obtuse.Â
âThis is the woman who broke your fucking heart. You work alongside her, and you never once thought to, oh, I donât know, mention that she is not only your ex but your fucking colleague?â You snarled another word, and Seungcheol sighed.Â
âGrow up, adultshave to- what?â Seungcheol paused mid-speech when he saw you glaring at him.Â
âDo not fucking patronise me. This is not an age issue. Your ex,who at the mention of her name, you become a frigid bastard. You failed to mention that you work with her!â You repeated, raising your voice.Â
âWhat do you fucking expect me to do to? Run away? We met here, fuck, Iâm a grown man. I canât run from my problems!â Seungcheol shouted back, and you sighed.Â
âYou donât get it do you?â You choked out.Â
âNo, because youâre acting like a fucking child, and I am not one. I need to deal with every situation, no matter how unpleasant it is!â Seungcheol spat.Â
âFuck, shut the fuck up about being more mature because youâre not, not even for a fucking second. How the fuck do you expect to have a future with me when your past is there in front of your eyes every fucking day, and the worst part is that you never told me. You act as if I gave you this new lease on love, but now I donât know if thatâs something you can sustain because the woman who broke your heart is your colleague. What if one day she wants to try again? How do I know that I know that you wonât go running?â You rambled, letting a tear slide down your face.Â
âYouâre being selfish and so fucking unfair,â Seungcheol retorted.âDo you not think so?â Seungcheol asked rhetorically
.âFucking hell, I told you she cheated on me while I was fucking engaged. Do you think I have no dignity or some shit that Iâd go back running to the woman who ruined me?â Seungcheol yelled, and you shrank into yourself.Â
âCan you just do what I do, and fucking grow up and realise that in life you need to put up with people who you may not what anything to do with, but thatâs what being an adult is like?â Seungcheol continued to yell, each word piercing your heart.Â
âOh, then again, what would you fucking know about being an adult? You are a 25-year-old with no fucking direction in life. You have no stable job or anything stable. In contrast, all your friends are either settling down, and you fuck, you sit at home with no motivation to go out and find yourself some work,â Seungcheol yelled, using your biggest insecurity against you.
âYou have no fucking stability, and you act like a fucking child, so donât you dare lecture me on how to behave,â Seungcheol spat and then sighed deeply when he realised what he said.Â
âY/N-,â Seungcheol started to say, and you held your hand up to him.
âNo, fuck donât, Cheol, donât you fucking dare. You used my biggest insecurity against me. Who the fuck does that, huh?â You asked, and Seungcheol sighed, looking down.Â
âAs for stability, youâre right. I donât have a ton, but if there was something that I thought gave me some semblance of stability, I thought itâd be you.I thought that at least it would you, but you arenât my safety net anymore, are you?â You yelled, and Seungcheol looked down in shame.Â
âIâm sorry. I told you seeing her makes me turn into something else!â Seungcheol weakly defended, and you glared at him.Â
âNo. Fuck you, you donât get to do this. What about being an adult, huh? Being an adult means not getting set off by every situation that doesnât favour you. Instead, itâs about finding ways to cope. Itâs about setting boundaries, so your past doesnât hurt you and hurt the people in your present,â you choked out the last word as Seungcheol took a step forward towards you.Â
âY/N,â Seungcheol started to say, and you ignored him.Â
âJust fucking go back to your party. Iâm going home. Iâll text you, but please leave me alone for tonight,â you said, pushing past Seungcheol.
âPlease let me know when you get home,â Seungcheol said weakly, and you rolled your eyes at him.Â
âI said I would, didnât I? Now, fucking move,â you spat, storming out of the garden and out of the venue as you waited for your Uber to arrive.Â
You had barely gotten home that night when you heard someone pounding on your front door. You groaned, knowing it was Seungcheol. You glared at the front door, hoping that if you ignored the incessant pounding, then heâd get the hint and heâd just leave, but Seungcheol was relentless. You knew that.Â
You sighed, walking to the front door and opening it to reveal your teary-eyed boyfriend.
âBaby, can I please explain?â Seungcheol asked, and you ignored him as you let him into your house, and he closed the front door behind him.Â
You started walking back into the house, Seungcheol trailing behind you. Once you were inside, you turned to him, and before you could say anything. Seungcheol dropped to his knees, hugging your waist, begging for forgiveness. You ran your hands through his hair.
âCheol, itâs okay.âÂ
Seungcheol carried you to the shower, where he helped you shower and clean. He helped you dry up and pulled you into his arms once you were both curled up on the bed.Â
Seungcheol âs fingers were gently ghosting your cunt. You felt him turn you to face him; he captured your lips in his full ones. His hand finding your core, rubbing your clit, he did this till you fell apart. He repeated that almost four times until he pushed himself inside you till he came.Â
You couldnât sleep that night. Only one question plagued your mind.Â
Since when did sex make up for an apology?Â
You woke up the following day sore and worn out. Not just from the fight last night that left you out and alone in the cold but also from Seungcheol fucking you into the mattress. You heard faint snores from him, and you took it as an opportunity to get some alone time. You wondered, did he think sex would make up for what had happened?Â
After showering and cleaning yourself up, you headed to the kitchen to make breakfast, subconsciously making breakfast for two. You were stirring the noodles waiting for the water to boil, when you felt two strong arms wrap around your waist. You felt Seungcheol place kisses along your neck, and you melted into his embrace for a second until the events of last night came back to you.Â
âCheol, can you set the table up? Iâll get breakfast ready.â You said and you felt Seungcheol press a kiss to your cheek before running off to set the dining table. Once you made your way over with the contents of breakfast, you sat down and started to eat.Â
âBaby?â Seungcheolâs voice broke the silence, and you looked up to see him staring at you. His eyes were red, brimming with tears. You felt your heart clench.Â
âY/N, Iâm so sorry about last night,â Seungcheol started to apologise again; his voice was breaking as he tried to contain himself.
âWhich part, Seungcheol? The part where you failed to introduce me as your girlfriend, or the part where you threw my insecurities against me, or the part where you told me to grow the fuck up?â You fumed.
âAll of it, all of it,â Seungcheol said, standing up to kneel in front of you. âI fucked up so much, but,â Seungcheol started to say, and you interrupted him.Â
âIf you think that fucking me last night made it better, it didnât because now Iâm wondering if you think sex is the solution to all our problems,â you said.Â
âNever, I just, Iâm shit with words at times, and I knew that at least my actions could prove my love to you. Itâs a shit thing to do, but I didnât do it to distract you from last night,â Seungcheol replied.Â
âI want to talk about everything, but I want a breakdown of everything. First, why did you pull away from me when you saw Yoona? Were you embarrassed?â you asked, your voice breaking, and Seungcheol shook his head.Â
âOf course not,â Seungcheol replied swiftly, and you glared at him.
âBecause all I do wonder if when you call what we have love, you never call it what it is,â you admitted, and Seungcheol sighed as he stood up.Â
âCome on, letâs talk on the couch,â Seungcheol offered, and you stood up, taking Seungcheol âs hand as you walked over to your couch.Â
âI tell you, I love you,â Seungcheol said, and you nodded.
âYou do tell me that you love me, but the way you do it is like itâs a secret,â you mumbled, feeling a tear roll down your cheek.Â
âI get that Iâm younger, and Iâm not some fancy professor with a huge savings account, but the way you act at times, you act like you are ashamed of me. Fuck, for Yoona to say that you deviated from your type to date me. What does that mean? Am I some charity case, where youâll date a non-academic girl, and then later Iâll be a notch in your belt, a funny story to tell over Christmas, with your real wife, and everything?â You babbled as you broke into a sob, and you felt Seungcheol pull you into his arm as he hugged you tightly.
âYou think about a future with me?â Seungcheol asked, and you scoffed.Â
âIs that all you took from everything I just said?â You asked.
âNo, but it gave me hope. Look, Yoona brings out the worst in me, and you were right last night to tell me that as adults, we can let that jar us or act out because thatâs life, right? Meeting people and getting to know people you may not like is life, but Yoona, at one point, was my life. She was my future until she ruined it. Every time I see her, I lash out because Iâm brought back to the headspace that I was in when she cheated,â Seungcheol explained, pausing to take a breath.Â
âShe reminds me of every insecurity I had, she takes me back to a very dark headspace, and instead of working my way out of that, I lash out because fuck, Iâm scared that itâll happen again,â Seungcheol admitted looking down.Â
âYou think Iâd cheat on you?â You asked.
âNo, but youâre young, gorgeous, and still have so much ahead of you. I woudnât blame you if you found someone your age,â Seungcheol mumbled, making you scoff again.Â
âIâm with you, arenât I? Unless this is your plan? Pushing me so far that I no longer want to be with you? Is that what youâre trying to do?â You asked, and Seungcheol shook his head immediately.Â
âThen why the fuck is this constantly an issue?â You snapped, and Seungcheol winced slightly at your tone.Â
âI guess when I first started dating you, you were so different and, in a good way, a fresh breath of air, but everyone around me started joking that maybe you know it was just a fling because we are so opposite at times. However, as the months with you progressed, I know thatâs not it.I know I love you, and Iâm so fucking sorry that for so long I made you feel otherwise,âÂ
Seungcheol paused to take a breath. âI love you, and I am serious about this. I want to make this work, I do,â Seungcheol admitted another word.Â
âThen stop lashing out at me and talk to me. Stop running away from me, run to me instead,â you said softly, and Seungcheol smiled at you.Â
âI didnât mean what I said about you having no stability. It was so fucking shitty of me to use your insecurity against you. I just, fuck, thereâs no excuse, Iâm just fucking sorry,â Seungcheol apologised, his head hanging low.Â
âYeah, that stung. Look, how about we take a week, cool off, and I guess catch up in a week?â You offered, and Seungcheol agreed.Â
âHowâs this, Iâll plan a getaway for us, and Iâll cook us food too!â Seungcheol suggested, and you laughed.Â
âIâll follow a recipe to a tee and have Mingyu monitor me?â Seungcheol proposed making you grin at him.Â
âFine, but if I get sick from your food,â you started to say, and Seungcheol laughed.Â
âThen Iâll kiss it all better for you,â Seungcheol said lamely.Â
âIâll see you in a week, my love, and remind you why you fell in love with me,â Seungcheol promised as he placed a soft kiss on your lips, and you smiled as you watched him walk away.Â
You let out a breath you didnât realise that you were holding when he walked away. You nodded to yourself. You and Seungcheol would be fine, this was a slight tear in the safety net, but you two would be fine, you convinced yourself, for it was only a tiny tear.Â
âHey,â you mumbled, embarrassed, as Mia opened her front door the following evening.Â
âWhat, have you come here to tell me I deserve no love or something?â Mia spat, and you felt like you had been slapped, and looked down in shame. You deserved that much.Â
âMia, I fucked up. Can we talk, though?â You asked, holding the box of doughnuts in your hand, and she sighed, nodding as she let you in.Â
âSo, what, Iâm assuming the Mr. Perfectly Wrong fucked up again?â Mia mocked, and you sighed as you kicked off your shoes and sat on her couch.Â
âHe was engaged in the past, and she was like his dream girl,â you said, unable to stop the way your voice trembled at recalling Yoona and realising how she was the opposite of you. She was dignified, elegant, older, wiser, or whatever other negative thought you tortured yourself with.Â
âShe still works with him. They both teach at the university; he never told me, Mia. I had to find out because I met her at a university event,â you mumbled, unable to stop the tear that slid down your face.Â
Mia sighed as she sat down next to you, and you took it as a positive sign to launch into the story of the fight.Â
âOh, that mother fucker!â Mia swore, and you flinched at her expression.Â
âMia, he was hurt,â you mumbled, and she scoffed.Â
âHow many excuses do you want to give this piece of shit? I get that love is blind. I fucking do. You cruelly pointed it out to me, but let me tell you something, my love, heâs blinded you. Heâs no good for you. Heâs condescending, judgmental, rude, and worst of all you keep forgiving him when he gives you half-assed apologies!â Mia ranted, making you look down in shame.Â
âIs that who you want to fucking be with?â Mia asked. âA man who keeps you like a secret, aman who acts like youâre a kid, a man who talks down to you?â You sighed.
âMaybe itâs just a bad spell. Heâs not like this, ever,â you defended, and Mia groaned, rubbing her forehead.Â
âThis man, I donât care how good the sex is or how amazing the good moments are. The good moments arenât enough to mask that he is inherently flawed and has a complex. A complex that he will project onto you, and you will struggle to try to meet the ideal woman in his head. Still, youâll try all your life because that woman doesnât exist, and not to be unkind, but itâs because that woman will never exist for him. He doesnât know what he wants,â Mia explained, calming down as she sat down next to you.Â
âHe said he loved me,â you mumbled weakly, and Mia nodded.Â
âIâm not denying that he cares for you, but his ego comes before you, Y/N. You will bend over backward for this man, and you have, but see if he even bothers to put in an ounce of that same effort that you put into this relationship,â Mia continued , and you glared at her.Â
âYou know what? I didnât come here to be yelled at. I get enough of that from him!â You seethed, and Mia frowned at you.Â
âThere, right there, if you canât even figure out whatâs so fucked up about that sentence, then I donât know what even to tell you,â Mia said. Â
âWeâve hit a rough spot, but weâll be fine,â you shouted, almost as if you were convincing yourself more than Mia.Â
âYou know what, Iâll be here when this illusion is broken,â Mia mumbled, standing up, and you took that as your cue to leave.Â
You stormed out of Miaâs house and drove straight to Seungcheolâs.Â
âBaby?â Seungcheol asked when he opened the door and saw your downcast expression.Â
âWhatâs wrong?â Seungcheol asked, and you shook your head at him.
âCan I stay here? I know weâre meant to meet at the end of the week, but I just need you,â you asked.
âOf course, my love, you know where everything is. I just have to grade one more paper. Then Iâll join you?â Seungcheol asked.Â
You were so worn out from the week's dramatics that you quickly showered, changed into one of Seungcheol âs shirts, and headed to bed. You curled up in Seungcheol âs bed. You smiled when you felt him join you later that night, his arms wrapped tightly around your waist.
Protecting you, never letting you go, he was your safe space.Â
You woke up the following morning to something stroking your thighs, and you opened your eyes to see Seungcheol âs head placed between your legs. He was kissing your inner thighs, slowly making his way to your cunt.Â
You moaned as you spread your legs, placing them onto his shoulders. Seungcheol âs luscious lips wrapped around your clit.
As he sucked, his pressure was perfect. He pushed in two fingers and thrust them in your cunt, as he sucked on your clit. He licked and fingered until you came around his fingers. Occasionally, he would run his tongue up and down your wet folds but always go back to your cunt.Â
âMorning, princess,â Seungcheol greeted as he hovered over your body and captured your lips in a sweet kiss. It felt like the first time you slept with him.Â
Passionate yet soft, you felt loved, and that was not something you felt in his embrace for a while.Â
âMorning, handsome,â you mumbled sleepily as Seungcheol pulled you on top of him. You felt his cock hard and waiting. You moved and sat up and slowly sank on his length.Â
âFuck!â You let out a groan of pleasure. He felt so good inside you. You lifted your legs and started moving your hips, riding him. You felt his grip tighten on your thighs as he helped you ride him.Â
You wanted to see him fall apart underneath you. You trailed your hands to his fingers, and your nails grazed his nipples, making him buck into you. You moaned as his hips pushed his cock deeper inside you. You kept riding him until you felt him still and released inside you. You sighed, feeling his warmth fill up your cunt. You hadnât cum yet, and Seungcheol knew that.Â
âPrincess, over here,â Seungcheol motioned to your mouth, and you moved, legs shaking as you sat on his waiting tongue. Seungcheol, as always, licked you clean of his cum.Â
You both were still in bed in the afternoon, simply embracing and kissing each other, when Seungcheol spoke, breaking the silence.Â
âSo, do you want to make the trip a little earlier?â Seungcheol asked, and you looked at him, smiling.Â
âCan you take leave on such short notice?â You asked.Â
âBaby, itâs reading week for the students, so yes, I donât need to worry about them for now. I want to focus on us.â
~~A Trip Upstate~~
âGot everything?â You asked Seungcheol for the fifth time. You had to stop yourself from laughing as your boyfriend kept going back and forth between his apartment and his car, forgetting something with each trip.Â
âWait, oh, for the fucking love of god. I forgot the car keys,â Seungcheol groaned as he ran back into the house, and you laughed at him some more. You were still laughing when he came back.Â
âHi,â Seungcheol said sweetly as he wrapped his arms around your waist, capturing you in a warm hug.Â
âI like seeing you like this, happy and laughing,â Seungcheol said, making you smile at him.Â
âWell, you make me laugh and happy,â you admitted, placing your chin on his chest and looking up at him.Â
âIâve been fucking that up a lot, but I promise you, this time I wonât fuck up. I love you, and I need to get back to showing you that itâs not an empty promise,â Seungcheol spoke, and you reached up to pull him into a soft kiss.Â
âI love you, and thank you,â you mumbled against his lips.Â
âShall we, my love? Thereâs a nice cabin I want to take you to upstate, and it has our names written on it,â Seungcheol said , and you nodded as he helped you into the car.Â
The drive up to the cabin was filled with jokes, laughter, and a few kisses here and there. It felt normal. Like you finally got your Seungcheol back, like all the fights could be forgotten because he was back to normal here. However, that hope ended the second you and Seungcheol started fighting over how to cook a dish.Â
âWhy are you so mean about this? Iâm helping you; you donât even know how to peel a fucking onion!â You snapped at Seungcheol, who was crushing the microwavable rice packet.Â
âI might not know how to peel a fucking onion, but at least Iâm not a 25-something that has no fucking direction in life!â Seungcheol spat back, making you exhale deeply.Â
âY/N,â Seungcheol started to say, and you glared at him.Â
âNo, Cheol, what the fuck, what the actual fuck? Youâve been using my insecurity against me twice now, and what-do you think each time you apologise, Iâll come back crawling? Or something? Iâm tired of this, and Iâm,â you took a deep breath to collect yourself.Â
You would not let Seungcheol see you fall apart, not when he was the reason behind the tears.Â
âWeâre done,â You stated calmly, glaring at Seungcheol, who didnât dare follow you as you walked away,.You grabbed your overnight bag and called an Uber, heading out of the cabin.Â
You werenât sure if you had properly ended the relationship between the two of you, but you were tired of constantly giving him the benefit of the doubt, and for him to only shatter it the second he felt remotely attacked.Â
1 Month Later: The Breaking PointÂ
âDonât you fucking dare,â you mumbled to Mia, who had picked you up from the floor of your house last night. You had called her on your way back home, and thankfully she didnât ask many questions, and just tried to help you.Â
Since you left Seungcheol, you didnât know where you two stood. He made no effort to contact you, so you just assumed that since you yelled. âWe are done,â at him, that you were.Â
Seungcheol took the hint and left you, but what pained you the most was that he could never run after you.Â
You craved his touch, his voice. You wanted him, but his lack of effort made you think he wanted nothing to do with you. Were you just a waste of time for him?Â
You thought that what you two had was a masterpiece, or what was that before he tore it all apart? Or was it you? Were you the one who tore it all to pieces?Â
All that to say, you had held yourself together, well, or at least you could put on a happy face. You just plastered on a fake smile and went on about your day. You put your efforts into your job out of spite.Â
You wanted to prove to Seungcheol that you werenât some bumbling idiot, but instead, you were a 25-year-old with things going for her. You wanted him to see you wanted him to be proud of you, but he wasnât here to see it. Maybe he never cared.Â
Your breaking point was this afternoon. You had just secured a huge contract, and just as you had signed on the dotted line, you wanted to share it with Seungcheol. You froze mid-text when you realised that he wouldnât care. He wouldnât care if you had done something remarkable because you two were done, so why should he care?
So, you started bawling at home and shakily dialed Miaâs number, and thatâs when she came to your rescue. She came to find you when you were at your lowest, and you felt guilt engulf you. You had defended Seungcheol to her, insulting her viciously, but she never batted an eyelid.Â
âYou know most people say thank you,â Mia joked, and you sighed.
âI am thankful, trust me, more than you know. I know you want to say I told you so, so go for it,â you snapped, and Mia shook her head as she helped you sit on the couch.Â
âHe lost the one real thing he had. Thatâs not on you. He never fought enough for you,â Mia explained as she pulled you into a gentle hug, which made you blubber and, thus, make you cry more.Â
âNothing, nothing from him, for a fucking month, Mia! Nothing. I thought he loved me and saw a future with me and all that bullshit, but he did not fucking bother, not once, to even be like, are you okay? Nothing, he just, fuck, wait, I think my phone is ringing in the bag. Can you help me grab it?â You asked, and Mia nodded, scrunching her nose at the private number.Â
âI swear if itâs that fucker calling through a random ass number to get to you, heâs going to get the living lights smacked out of him,â Mia threatened as she handed your phone to you.Â
âHello?â You answered.Â
âHello, Miss Y/N. We have been given your number as an emergency contact. Do you know Mr. Choi Seungcheol ?â
âIâm sorry. Who are you?â You asked, your voice trembling. What happened to Seungcheol?
âSorry, Iâm Nurse Lee. Iâm calling from the Seoul National Hospital. We have been given your number as an emergency, so we are calling to ask if you could come down and sign a few things for us?â You sighed in relief, but only slightly.Â
You got into your car, not caring if you got a fine for speeding. You reached the hospital and parked, running in your heels to the main lobby. You frantically explained that you got a call and were quickly ushered upstairs to the wards.Â
You heard laughing and opened the door to see your ex-boyfriend laughing with the doctor. His eyes widened as he saw, and just like that, his laughter faded. The doctor noticed your presence, and he waved you in.
âYou must be Y/N. Thank you for coming here. We just need to discharge him, and we need you to sign a few forms for him.â You nodded, still confused, âIâll be back in around thirty minutes. Iâll let you two catch up.â The doctor left the room and left you both alone.Â
âCheol?â You said softly.Â
Seungcheol wasnât looking at you. You walked to his bedside when you saw there was enough space. You sat down slowly and held his face in your hands. He reluctantly looked at you.Â
âWhat happened?â you asked. You let go of his face so he could talk.Â
âItâs not a big deal,â He said. You rolled your eyes.Â
âIt is, especially if youâre in the hospital.â You countered.Â
âDonât laugh.â He said, warning you. You nodded. âSo, long story short, I may have dropped a knife on my foot.â You looked at him, perplexed.
âHow?â âI was cooking, and it was going well. Then the knife slid off the counter and onto my foot. I didnât lose a toe, just a lot of blood. So yeah, by the time I got here, I passed out from blood loss, and I guess thatâs why they called you.â He blurted in one go, and you tried to stifle a laugh.
âSeriously?â He said, but you could hear the smile in his voice. His heart warmed at the sight of you smiling. It had been so long since he was the reason for your smile.Â
âIâm so sorry, but why were you trying to cook?â You asked.Â
Seungcheol âs laugh faded, and he paused. âI noticed a lot about me that Iâm not good at. Cooking is at the top. I felt as if I could attempt to conquer that maybe I can do more in life,â Seungcheol looked down at his hands covered in wires. You touched his thigh, making him look at you.Â
âYou are good at so much,â you countered, and Seungcheol shook his head.
âProfessionally, maybe, but my personality? No. Nothing great there,â Seungcheol said, resignation lacing his tone. You opened your mouth to say something, and Seungcheol spoke first. âIâm not saying this to guilt-trip you into taking me back. After you broke up with me, I started seeing someone,â your hand jerked away from his thigh, which confused Seungcheol until he saw the heartbreak on your face.Â
âNo, Y/N. I meant seeing a professional,â Seungcheol said, laughing.
âSorry,â you mumbled, unsure what you were apologising for. Â
âIf you think Iâm even close to being able to move on from you, youâre insane.âÂ
âCome on, let me drive you home?â You said, Seungcheol nodded.Â
âI appreciate it, thank you.âÂ
While driving, something occurred to you, and you had to ask. âCheol, um, how come I was your emergency number? Last I remembered, you said it was Jeonghan?â Seungcheol blushed and scratched his neck.Â
âUh, well, itâs embarrassing now, but I changed it three months into us dating,â his confession, making you almost drive through a red light.Â
âWhy?âÂ
âUgh, I sound so stupid because weâre not together, but I guess I wanted you to know I trust you. I know my actions during our relationship were deeply contradictory to that. I also knew that you would be the one for me.âÂ
âThe one? In three months?â You asked.Â
Seungcheol smiled fondly at you. âCan you pull over?âÂ
Seungcheol fished out his wallet, looked for something, and pulled out a small silver ring.Â
âSeungcheol, what the fuck?âÂ
âTrust me; itâs not a proposal. I donât think Iâll be that lucky. I just thought it was something I should get after three months. I wanted to give this to you, but then I hurt you so many times after, and each time, we tried to make it work, and I kept on fucking it up for us. It was a promise ring that Iâd never hurt you again, and I guess I failed.â Seungcheol admitted, and you noticed a tear fall down his face.Â
âWhy do you still have the promise ring?â You asked.Â
âWishful thinking, I guess?â Seungcheol replied.
âI miss you,â you mumbled, and Seungcheol heard you.
âWe can try again,â you offered weakly.Â
âNo, not yet. Let me learn. Let me be a better man for you. If I canât, then know you deserve so much more,â Seungcheol spoke, and you smiled softly at him.Â
You resumed driving. Upon reaching Seungcheol âs house, you pulled up and helped him out of the car and into his apartment. You laughed when you saw the floor covered in blood. It was not a normal reaction, but the backstory was quite amusing.Â
âHey, Cheol, why donât you lie down? Iâll clean this up for you?â You said.Â
âNo, I can manage,âÂ
You glared at him. âTrust me,itâs safer that I do this,â You laughed as you watched him hobble to his bedroom. Thank goodness he didnât live in a multi-story house.Â
After cleaning up, you found Seungcheol sitting in his bed, playing music and softly humming. You knocked on his door. Seungcheol smiled and waved you in.Â
âHi.â
âBloodâs gone,â you said, and he patted the space next to you, and you sat down on the bed next to him.Â
âThank you. Somehow, youâre always cleaning after my mess.âÂ
âSeungcheol, donât,â your voice firm.Â
âI cannot even begin to tell you how sorry I am. Fuck, come here,â he patted the space in front of him. You carefully moved and sat between his legs so as not to hurt his bandaged foot. Seungcheol pulled your hair to the side, kissing softly on the nape of your neck.Â
âJust please, donât break me apart again because I donât think Iâll recover anymore if you do,â you pleaded, and Seungcheol turned you around in his embrace so that you faced him.Â
âNever again, I promise,â Seungcheol promised. bullshit
âOkay, so where is your boyfriend?â Mia asked, venom dripping off every word, and you rolled your eyes at her.Â
âHe probably got caught up with work. Can you fucking let it go?â You asked, and Mia shrugged.Â
âIâm just saying, for a man walking on thin fucking ice, he better at least bother with his girlfriendâs birthday party,â Mia stated before walking out of the room to place balloons in another part of your apartment.Â
You sighed, knowing she was right, but Seungcheol was busy. Maybe heâd be late, but heâd show up. You kept telling yourself this until midnight when he never showed up, but you were several drinks in and had enough liquid courage to storm over to his place, which is precisely what you did.Â
You hailed a cab and made the drunken journey to his.Â
Your conscience was warning you. You paid no attention.Â
Yousure as hell ignored it for long enough. You could continue to do so.Â
You knocked on the door, and the door opened to reveal a shirtless Seungcheol in a pair of black sweats. You had lost all sense of rationality, and at this point, you didnât know what was right or wrong.Â
âY/N?â Seungcheol asked, confused, as would anyone. He couldnât help but take in your appearance, how your cleavage left little to the imagination, but he knew the reality was better, how your heels made your ass seem even rounder. Your face was beautiful as always, but your mascara had run slightly, and your nose was red.
âCan I come in?â You asked. He nodded quickly, letting you in and closing the door behind him.
Seungcheol slowly guided you to the sofa, and he sat down, waiting for you to sit beside him. Instead, you straddled him, your legs on either side of his hips.Â
âMy birthday. I got a crappy, âhappy birthdayâ text from you, and you donât show up to my party. What the fuck is wrong with you? This is not the attitude from someone who wants another chance,â you fumed, and Seungcheol stared at you sighing. He had no excuse, none whatsoever.Â
âY/N, Iââ You shut Seungcheol up with a kiss. You rolled your hips against his crotch, and you could feel that underneath his sweats, he was naked. No boxers. You could partially feel his cock against your lace-covered cunt.Â
âY/N, I, whatâs going on, fuck,â Seungcheol stopped speaking as you started sucking his neck, gently grazing your teeth against his neck andmaking him whimper for you. You felt his cock harden fully underneath you. You pulled away from his neck for a moment.Â
âCheol, at this moment, I need to forget that Iâm mad at you,â you admitted, and Seungcheol sighed before nodding as his grip on your thighs tightened.Â
âIâm not saying no; you donât need to apologise, and you donât need to leave, but we need to talk when weâre done,â Seungcheol added.Â
âI will.âÂ
âGood.â Cheol stood up from his position and carried you into the bedroom. And he noticed your makeup had smudged and brought you to the bathroom. He placed you on the counter, his lips immediately finding yours. Kissing you, his lips pulled and sucked on yours. You moaned, allowing him to slip his tongue inside your mouth.Â
Seungcheol deepened the kiss. His hands found the straps of your dress; he pushed them down. You hissed as your breasts met the cold air of the room. Seungcheol helped you out of the dress, leaving you in your soaked underwear. He groaned at the sight. His hands went to your legs, pushing the heels off your feet, his lips never leaving yours. He moved his hands to your underwear and pulled it off. He groaned when he saw how wet you were.Â
He pushed his sweats down and undressed; he stood erect and naked in front of you, and you took a moment to drink in his appearance. Seungcheol guided you into the shower, and you let out a moan, when you felt the warm water hit your skin. Soothing you, you felt Seungcheol turn you around and push your back against the wall. He placed kisses down your neck, his lips finding your breasts. He sucked and nibbled your nipple as his other hand massaged and squeezed and tugged the other breast. Cheol moved his body down yours as his lips found your cunt.Â
Seungcheol placed a soft kiss. He gently lifted a leg and wrapped it around his broad shoulders. He pushed two fingers inside of you, groaning at how wet you were, where he could practically taste your arousal. He angled his fingers inside you and started to finger you, and his lips found your core, as he ran his tongue against your folds.Â
He pulled your clit between his teeth, gently grazing the swollen bud. You whimpered. He replaced his teeth with his plush lips. Wrapping them around your clit and sucking as his fingers pounded into you. He kept his movements up until you came. You tightened against his fingers, and your clit throbbed in his mouth as he helped you ride out your orgasm.Â
Seungcheol gently unhooked your leg from his, and you sank to your knees. You pushed against his toned abs, and his back hit the shower wall. You wrapped your lips around his cock; he was thick. While your hands wrapped around the remainder of his length, you took him and started to suck him. He let out a low growl and a strangled whimper as you continued to suck him. You grazed your nails along his thighs and whimpered, bucking his length into your throat, making you gag slightly. You kept sucking until you felt him still and releasein your mouth.Â
You smirked as Seungcheol was panting. He pulled you two on your feet and into a sweet kiss. He cleaned the both of you up, his hands finding your face and washing the smudged mascara off your face. He guided you out of the shower and to his bed. You moaned as you felt the soft sheets against your naked body.Â
Seungcheol couldnât get enough of you. His eyes drank you in. His mouth was desperate to taste you again. He approached you, lifted your legs, and placed them on his shoulder. His mouth found your cunt again. He started by placing soft kisses against your cunt, knowing where to lick you.Â
He wasted no time. He dove straight in, his thick tongue flicking against your swollen clit. Your hands made their way into his hair. He pushed in three fingers this time. He lapped at your arousal while you whimpered in oversensitivity. It didnât take much after that for you to cum on his tongue.Â
Seungcheol rubbed his cock against your wet folds several times and then pushed in. You hissed as the stretch was quite intense after two orgasms, but he felt so good. You tugged on his hair, making him look up at you. You brushed your thigh against his hardened length, and he wasted no time.Â
âMoveâ, you whispered, and thatâs all it took for Seungcheol to lift your legs and place them on his shoulders, allowing him to hit deeper inside you. His thrusts were rough, and each time, he would withdraw only to push back harder and deeper.Â
He leaned down and captured your lips in his. You melted into the kiss while he pounded into your cunt. You were a mumbling and moaning mess underneath him. You felt yourself clench around this length, making him groan into the kiss. He pushed a few more times until you fell apart on his cock.Â
He pulled out of you gently and laid down beside you.Â
You woke up a few hours later, not realising you had fallen asleep.Â
You woke up to at least thirty texts and missed calls from Mia, and you sighed, stepping out of Seungcheolâs bedroom to call her. You quickly told her what happened last night, and Mia could only relay her disappointment.Â
âDo you not see how far gone you are, Y/N; youâre making excuses for him. People like him donât do this just once.âÂ
âHe was busy and couldnât make it,â you explained, and Mia scoffed.Â
âY/N, Iâm telling you as someone who has been through something like this. He will leave you broken.â You scoffed, and your following words were nothing but pure venom.Â
âMia, you had a relatively hot boyfriend, and he dumped your ass. So I guess youâre not too different to me since the only thing youâre good for is looking the way you do. You couldnât keep him either..â You kept your voice stern and firm.Â
Mia groaned. âI wonât ever say I told you so, but when the inevitable happens, you know where to find me. Iâll listen because I know you wonât.â With that, Mia hung up.Â
You sank to the floor. Â
How did a loving relationship with your boyfriend leave you so drained and lashing out at others to defend him? What went wrong?
âHey, did I interrupt something?â Seungcheol asked, startling you, and you stood up, shaking your head. You didnât want to get into it with him right now.Â
âHere,â Seungcheol said, handing you a coffee mug, and you nodded, taking it.Â
âYouâre right. My actions last night werenât of a boyfriend trying hard to prove that heâs worthy of being with you,â Seungcheol explained, and you rolled your eyes.Â
âIâm tired of hearing you apologise. I need you to show me that youâre fucking sorry,â you said .Â
âWhat about a date tomorrow? Thereâs a gala at my university. Donât worry, it wonât be like last time, I promise,â Seungcheol begged, and you sighed, nodding.Â
You werenât exactly sure what made you want to give him a second chance, but maybe because you loved him or the idea of him, you werenât entirely sure which one. You just knew that regardless of what the situation was with you two. With him, it still felt like home somehow.Â
DIVDER:
You and Seungcheol walked hand in hand to his gala; this time, he wasnât distant, curt, or moody. He was jovial, greeted everyone, and introduced you until Yoona entered the picture.Â
Seungcheol wasnât flirting, but he sure as hell didnât bother to hide how happy and excited he was to see his ex, considering he spent nearly 45 minutes talking to her. You stormed out of the venue and waited by his car until he noticed.. oblivious to your anger.Â
âWaiting long?â Seungcheol asked, and you scoffed.
âIâm amazed you remembered I existed. You seemed to be taken by Yoona. I thought I was a distant memory,â you mocked, earning a glare from Seungcheol.Â
âLetâs just go home, yeah?â Seungcheol asked, and you nodded, following him into his car. This time, he didnât help you in.âWhen the fuck did I give you a reason to think Iâd cheat? How many times do I need to fucking tell you that Yoona and I are done?â Seungcheol bellowed suddenly, and you sighed.Â
âThatâs not the fucking point!â You yelled back, and Seungcheol sighed, loosening his tie. Â
âThe point is that you always gloss over our problems, you always act like Iâm a child or something, and you never tell me the truth. When I get mad, you act like Iâm insane even to be upset. Do you know how that fucking feels?â You yelled, and Seungcheol glared at you.
âNot my fucking problem thatyou donât understand how the fuck relationships work, or maybe youâre too fucking immature to make one work,â Seungcheol hissed as his grip on the steering wheel only got tighter.Â
âThis is so fucking rich coming from you considering the fucking fact your ex dumped you, and yet youâre so obsessed with her that you didnât care that she cheated on you. Instead of spending the night with me, someone who loves you, you cosied up to someone who walked all over you!â You yelled.Â
âY/N, get out of the car before I make you!â Seungcheol yelled, making you whimper at his tone and words.Â
âSeungcheol, please, Iâm so sorry,â you were begging, but Seungcheol ignored you. He leaned over and opened the car door. You looked at him; his eyes were trained on the road ahead.Â
âSeungcheol, please donât do this,â you begged. You knew you couldnât change his mind, but you were scared. He didnât seem to care. You reluctantly exited the car, gently closing the door behind you. Seungcheol wasted no time, and he sped away, drove off, and left you alone in the dark.Â
You were freezing, and your outfit did nothing to counter the cold. You let out a sob, your feet in absolute agony from the heels, and your mind an emotional mess. You pulled your phone out of your purse to call someone. You called Seungcheol, no response. You sighed more. Seeing as he would ignore you the entire night, you called the last person you could think of.
âY/N? What? Itâs two in the morning. What do you want?â Miaâs voice was hoarse and laced with sleep. You tried to reply but couldnât help the whimper that escaped your throat.Â
âHey, whatâs wrong?â Mia asked, her voice now concerned.Â
âI donât know where I am, and itâs dark and cold. Iâm so sorry for disturbing you. I shouldnât haveââÂ
âY/N, stop, pin me your location. Iâm coming to get you,â You sobbed out a thank you and sent her your location.Â
Around twenty minutes later, you saw a car enter the empty street, and it screeched to a halt suddenly. Mia stepped out with a coat and ran towards you. She wrapped the coat around your body. She didnât ask questions; she just guided you to heris car.Â
âLetâs get you home,â Mia said. She was fuming, but she was scared that if she yelled at you nowâwhich she surely would, sheâd break you into two.Â
âDo you want me to come in?â Mia asked as she pulled up outside your apartment, and you shook your head.Â
âI just need time alone, but thank you, Mia,â you said, who nodded as she watched you leave the car before waving to you and driving off.Â
âBaby! Youâre safe!â You turned around to see Seungcheol running after you, and you sighed as you walked into your apartment. Seungcheol followed you, and this scene was one you knew all too well.
âYou threw me out of the car!â You yelled the minute you were inside the apartment.Â
âI was scaredIâd say something worse if you stayed. I was trying to mitigate further damage.âÂ
You rolled your eyes at him.âYouâre a fucking moron.â
âI am, but I came back, Iââ you interrupted him.Â
âFor what? To apologise?â You asked, and you hated that hope still coated your words.Â
âNo, because I canât do this anymore. I canât, youâre acting so fucking immature, but weâre not good for each other. I need someone who gets me. I canât coddle you every five seconds because you got your fucking feelings hurt,â Seungcheol said, finality lacing his words.Â
âSo, if we were closer in age, we would have worked?â You asked, and Seungcheol sighed, nodding.Â
âIâll send someone for my things, and Iâll mail your things back to you by the end of the week,â Seungcheol mumbled as he walked out of your apartment.Â
He left as quickly as he came into your life. Youâd experienced heartbreak before, but nothing like this. You wanted to die. You tried to stop feeling because the pain manifested into physical pain as you felt your entire body go numb and limp. You couldnât handle it, and you felt all too much all at once.Â
The Reeling
It had been two weeks since Seungcheol broke up with you and after he returned your things to youin a box with no goodbye letter and nothing to give you any semblance of closure, you impulsively booked a train ticket to see your folks Â
If Seungcheol didnât want to coddle you, you tried to find comfort in the two people you knew would.Â
âY/N?â She was confused by how upset you were. Your mother practically yelled when she saw you at the front door, and you burst into tears the minute she saw you and hugged her.Â
âI missed you,â you cried into her arms while she was happy to see you.Â
âCome in. Why donât you go to your room freshen up?â You nodded.
âHi, stranger.â You said, scaring your father, who was too engrossed in a crossword puzzle.
âY/N!â He yelled, standing up to hug you.Â
âOh, whoâs ass do I need to kick for you crying?â You shook your head.Â
âNo one, I just missed you guys,â you lied, and your parents nodded knowingly.Â
âFreshen up, honey. Weâll be right here with food and a drink?â You nodded at your mother and headed to shower
âSeungcheol,â You answered your phone that was ringing. You had just gotten out of the shower and were drying your hair.Â
âUh, hi. Sorry, I wanted to pick up my hoodie. I left it at yours, but you werenât there, and I just wanted to check when youâd be back so I could get it?â Seungcheol asked, so casually, so casually cruel.Â
At least he was honest. You knew nothing was left there anymore,
âIâm visiting my folks; Iâll send it to yours when Iâm back,â you said, keeping your tone neutral and devoid of emotions.Â
âCool. Thanks,â Seungcheol said, hanging up before you could get a word out.Â
You broke down again. He called you, only to break you all over again.Â
âSo, itâs a boy problem? Itâs got to be,â your father mused after dinner. You two and your mother were in the living room, sipping wine and catching up.Â
âI was a fucking idiot. I gave him a chance after chance,he walked all over me, and I let him because I loved him,â you whined to your parents, who smiled sympathetically at you.Â
âI would rather you didnât call yourself that. I didnât raise one.â You smiled at your dadâs attempt to be funny.Â
âWell, I was,â You sighed, sipping the wine. You decided youâd tell your parents everything aside from the ridiculous amounts of sex that led you up to this moment.Â
âWhy did you want to try so hard to keep him?â Your mother asked, and you shrugged.Â
âBecause I loved him, or so I thought I did, but love shouldnât hurt this much,â you mumbled. âYou know what? I was right when I believed that love is this huge thing that doesnât exist, and aside from you two, I donât see it anywhere.â You said, and your parents smiled softly,Â
âHoney, love isnât easy. It takes so much effort and time to get it right, and even then, you can screw it up.âÂ
âThen what, I screwed up?â You accused, and your mother shook her head.Â
âNo, you tried and broke yourself into two to become someone he wanted. That is the furthest thing from love. Itâll hurt, but one day, when your paths cross again, youâll be able to smile at him with no malice and thank him for putting you through hell because youâll know what you never want again,â your mother explained, pulling you into a tight hug as you sobbed.Â
âHe couldnât even be bothered to attend my birthday,â you mumbled, sniffling pathetically, and your father nodded.Â
âThatâs not a good sign, if Iâm being honest, isnât it meant to be fun, a birthday party?â Your father asked, and you could only shrug.Â
âGet your hair done or something,â your mum suggested the following week.Â
âWhy?â You asked, and your mother smiled at you.Â
âWell, isnât that what everyone does after a breakup? Get their hair done, and youâve been moping for a week. Go outside, go and see the colourful world out there,â your mother said, kissing your forehead.Â
You laughed but decided to take up your motherâs advice, and soon enough, you found yourself in a hair salon.Â
âSo, how do you want your hair done?â The stylist asked as he started to towel dry your hair.Â
âIâm not entirely sure, but something that screams Iâm doing good and happy.â The stylist smiled.
âA few highlights and waves?â He suggested, and you grinned. You relaxed into the chair as the stylist worked on your hair.Â
You smiled at your appearance in the mirror. You felt fresh. You still felt pain, but the new hair did do wonders. Youâd never understand the logic, but it helped, only for a second, until a voice stopped you in the shopping mall.Â
âY/N?â Your blood ran cold, and youâd recognise that voice anywhere.Â
âYoona,â you muttered, turning around as you faced her.Â
âDid you change your hair? I like it. It looks lovely!â Yoona smiled.Â
âCan I help you, Yoona?â You asked, not having the energy to pretend to care.Â
âI heard you and Cheol broke up?â Yoona said, and you cringed at her use of his nickname.Â
âWhy, are you waiting to dig your claws into him?â You snapped, and Yoona shook her head.Â
âLook, I have no defense for what I did to him, but Iâll say this: There is an idea that Seungcheol has in his mind. Even if I didnât fit that mould, should I have cheated? No, but it wouldnât have mattered because I would never be enough for him, and neither were you. He has a version of a woman in his mind, which doesnât exist. You dodged a bullet, my Y/N,â Yoona narrated as she walked off, leaving you speechless.Â
It was on your walk that all the puzzle pieces fit together. Yoona wasnât wrongâgranted, an unreliable sourceâbut her words werenât exactly wrong. You bent over backward to appease Seungcheol, but nothing was enough, and if Yoona, his âideal girl,â failed to meet his idea, then what was his ideal?Â
A never-needy, ever-lovely jewel whose shine reflected on him? Was that all he ever needed: someone to make him look better?Â
You smiled, turning back to see Yoona walk into another shop. Maybe she was right; itâd take a while to reconcile and face the trauma of dating Choi Seungcheol, but you knew it wasnât you anymore. You could have been carved by the gods themselves, but unless that god were Seungcheol, you would never be enough for him, and somehow you were okay with that.Â
You just needed now to heal, mend old relationships, and find yourself again, but you were a soldier who came back from war half her weight. You needed to regain strength from this, heal, and become someone who had learned from this.Â
You could do it. Youâd get older and wiser, while his lovers would be the same, wide-eyed and keen until he tore them to shreds when he realised they werenât the one.Â
You could move on. Youâd be fine.Â
The Healing: 2 Years LaterÂ
You were fussing over your speech for the fifth time that day.Â
âGirl, itâs fine, youâve worked your ass off for this app. I canât believe you got SNU to sponsor this. Youâve grown up!â Mia said dramatically, making you laugh.Â
You two were okay again; it took a lot of healing, but you two were okay because you didnât hurt anymore.Â
You were at the launch of your newest app, a website for students and teachers to connect quickly. You wanted to pitch it to SNU, and they agreed.Â
You had finally finished your presentation when your eyes locked with his.Â
You flashed him a smile, and he returned one.It was like nothing you imagined at that moment. Nothing hurt anymore; he was a painful memory, but he was your past.Â
You would sometimes wonder if the love affair between the two of you maimed him the way it maimed you, but you also figured that you could live without getting that answer from him.Â
Youâd be okay. You werenât okay then, but you are okay now.Â
You were okay before you met him, and youâd be okay after him.Â

A Fate Inked In Starlight
Part Three
Eris x Fem!Reader x Azriel
Summary - After crashing into the Autumn Court with no idea who you are, where you are, or how you got there, Eris takes it upon himself to hide you and care for you with the help of the Night Court. That is until souls from other walks of life infiltrate Prythian searching for you.
Part One Part Two Part Four Part Five
Warnings - nightmares, alludes to slight depression and struggling, mentions of blood and torture, memory loss, angst, baby Eris trying to do the right thing đ„ș
Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
That horrid metallic liquid was sprayed across the walls where you swung by your wrists, your head tossed back and blood leaking from your nose, droplets rolling backward down your cheeks and dripping on the floor.
The room was freezing, stone blocks caged you in at every direction, the only light in the room slicing through the iron bars at the roof of the chamber. A thin grey gown hung from your shoulders, nothing opulent, it was plain and dirty, soaked with tears and blood amongst other things, it was ripped up the side, the threads floating against your skin.
A scratching filled the void, the tip of a sword dragging against the stone floor, "Are you going to cooperate today?" A voice drawled and you winced as you tried to open your swollen eyes, your vision blurred and entire face aching.
Your wrists were burning, the ringed wounds tearing themselves open and whimpers straining in your mouth. Chains rattled and you felt yourself lower closer to the ground, the tips of your toes brushed against the stone but you weren't lowered enough to stand, to give your shoulders and wrists some relief.
Fingers curled around your chin, jolting it forward so that you were looking at the owner of the voice. "I asked you a question, pet," from what you could make out, his smile was chilling, eyes narrowed and cold, short black hair, and you wished your vision would clear for just a moment, just so you could really see him.
"I don't know what you want," you rasped, "I don't know what I'm doing here."
His tongue ticked against the roof of his mouth, you felt him circling you, like a predator toying with their prey, "Don't play with me, pet, you know that I don't like your games," you felt the skin of your abdomen slicing apart, pooling with liquid that ran down your thighs.
"You have the wrong person. Please, I don't know what you want," tears ran down your cheeks, searing pain drove through you and you sobbed.
The room began to rumble, with your terror or his anguish you weren't sure, "Do I have to take another thing you love to ensure your loyalty?"
Creaking metal doors blew open, and your stomach dropped at the aroma that washed away the scent of death from the room. Burnt orange peels and pine, warm rain, and a hint of caramel. Eris.
"Flora," he called to you weakly, he sounded so defeated, his voice sounded gargled and wet, and he was dropped to the floor with a thud that made you cringe.
"Give me what I want, pet."
"Flora."
Your bottom lip wobbled furiously, the room felt like it was tipping on an opposing axis, "No. Not him. Not him. Please."
"Submit yourself to me and I will spare him," he moved behind Eris, ripping his head backward and pressing the blade to his throat.
"Flora!"
"FLORA!"
You awoke screaming and thrashing, tears flowing down your face and chest rising and falling at a dangerously rapid pace, "Hey, hey," a voice shushed, hands bundled in your hair with burnt orange dancing around you, "You're alright, okay? You're in Fir Manor, you're okay," he mumbled over and over again until your breathing had slowed to an acceptable rate.
"You, you were -I," you were struggling to form words, to speak, to convey what you had seen.
The place had felt so familiar but not at the same time, like you should remember being there, like it was important to remember that place. The stench of iron and that searing pain made your stomach churn and you bolted from the bed, rushing to the toilet and emptying whatever contents in there that you could.
A cold hand pressed against your back, rubbing circles between your shoulder blades, "Come on," Eris picked you up from the floor like it was nothing, scooping you into his arms and sitting with you on the small two seater sofa before the fire. The blanket he had used to cover himself for his slumber was tossed aside, thrown over the edge of the furniture, and the rug was slightly askew from where he had hit the floor and come running to you.
Eris had made a habit out of sleeping on the cruelly small thing the moment your nightmares had started two weeks ago. Nightly, you'd wake up mumbling, incoherently trying to throw together anything that would make sense whilst panting and sweaty, pale with fright. And nightly, Eris would soothe away your troubles, he would hold you until you fell back asleep before tucking you back in your bed again.
It felt different though, that this time the nightmare had really shaken you to the point of physical shuddering. It was the first time you had alluded to him that he was present in your dream, and he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
"You were- he was going to- I couldn't," you bubbled, shaking in his arms like a leaf in the wind.
"Hey," he cooed to you, covering you in his blanket and rubbing warmth into your arms, "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I'm right here."
Eris was the calm. Eris was the safe place. Eris was breathing. Eris was alive. It was just a dream.
Just a dream.
Eris stood at the window, looking out into the gardens at you as you weaved between flowerbeds with Duke in tow. A pale yellow sundress wrapped around your figure, and he smiled fondly as your fingers dragged through the blooming flowers, each one of them bending toward your touch.
Nature just seemed to adore you.
It was the morning after Rhys and Azriel's visit that he found you in the gardens, feet dipped into the fountain with swirling spandrils of water flowing up your arms and neck. It was then that you both found out that you could control water, and by extension, anything made up of it.
Eris was encouraging, he had sat with you in the ponds and fountains and coached you, trained you to control your gift like he had trained to control his. And soon enough, you could summon the element from wherever you stood, your personal tendrils extinguishing his fiery rage with gentle licks across his hands.
He had noticed how the nightmares had been altering you. You had become more withdrawn, the personality that had been bubbling beneath the surface for the last two weeks now retreating. He had to do something.
The stress of your situation hadn't helped, you knew how dangerous it was to be in the Autumn Court, Eris had told you that much. He promised to protect you, and you believed him. But he didn't know how to stop the nightmares, he didn't know how to plump out the circles under your eyes. You had tried sleeping tonics but they didn't want to work on you, neither of you knew why.
"I don't want to go," you told him after he'd sat you down and proposed you visit Rhys and Azriel, both of which you had become closer with, through letters and their idle flybys to check up on you, constantly telling you of their progress, "I feel safe here. I feel safe with you."
Eris had told Rhys of the nightmares, told him that they could be memories trying to claw to the surface, told him that you needed a distraction, that you needed help. The heir wasn't sure what the High Lord saw in you, but he always offered clear advice and a bedroom at the River House with your name on it whenever you should need it.
"I know," he watched as you fiddled with your fingers and kept your eyes on the floor, "This will be good for you. You'll love Velaris, Little Flower," he ran a hand down your hair and gave you an encouraging smile.
"The decision has been made?"
"You'll be back with me before you know it, then we can carry on with your training and read our books by the fire. It's just temporary," your eyes were flooded with sadness, it was taking everything in him to not take back what he had decided and wrap you into his embrace instead, "I promise."
That's how you found yourself curled up in the library within the River House.
Rhys' family were lovely, and Azriel had tried to make you feel as at home as possible, but something just didn't feel right. The safety that you had felt wrapped around you like a shield had disappeared, replaced by a shrill chill that made you too alert. Too poised.
Velaris was beautiful. The book was lax in your hands and you found yourself reading the patterns of the stars instead, like you could simply reach up and pluck one from the sky-
"Flora?" A gentle knock sounded at the door, you turned to it, finding Feyre stood in the gap possessing an ethereal glow and trusting eyes. She entered, seemingly floating to where you sat, and took the place beside you.
Snow capped mountains and starry skies welcomed your gaze as you turned back to the window. A tidal wave of gentle light glowed beneath you, flowing like a river through a valley, that humming energy bowing its head and delving into every beautiful corner of the city.
"How are you feeling?"
"How am I supposed to feel?"
Feyre frowned, "However you'd like. There's no pressure to feel a certain way."
They had all welcomed you with open arms, Mor had even hugged you, and to everyone's surprise, Nesta had offered a shoulder to talk to if you ever felt like it.
"I struggled with nightmares too, after what happened Under the Mountain," she confessed and you found yourself looking into her quizzically, "I died to save Prythian, to save Tamlin, from Amarantha. I dealt with the repercussions of resurrection nightly afterward, I dreamt of being back there, and then one day I was here and I began to heal."
"How did you do it?"
"You find ways to ground yourself," she shrugged, curling her legs up beneath her, "Whether that be a smell, or person, or memory, you find ways to ground yourself in the present, to remind you that whatever fills your past is exactly what it is. The past."
"Do you think that these dreams are memories?"
Feyre hummed, "Maybe," the High Lady had made many a painting of the marks you had sketched and sent to Azriel, something about them intrigued her to the point of inspiration, her power thrummed when she saw them, and she took to the canvas to accurately depict how she saw them in her mind.
Amren had told you that your markings were runes, ancient things painted on walls on crystals in order to try to contain and control power. It was other-worldly, and she was able to tell you with confidence that the runes were by no means inflicted upon you maliciously, more like your body forced them to appear in order to protect itself.
Your mind floated to Eris. You wondered how he was, you wondered if he was sat alone drowning in the silence of Fir Manor whilst you were surrounded by light and echoing laughter.
"We will help you, Flora. Rhys won't admit it but, you remind him of his sister a little bit. I think that's why he's so determined to have this all figured out, so he can help you in ways he couldn't help her," Feyre had been in awe of your beauty despite the deep circles under your eyes, you reminded her of herself, like she was staring at a mirror into the past, "Even if we do figure this out and you have the option of returning home, I want you to know that you're welcome here, if you ever wanted to stay. Though, I feel someone would outbid me on that." Feyre had spied the swirl of shadows in the corner of the room when she had entered, they had been watching you and then your exchange unbeknownst to you, she smirked at them, knowing that they'd be whispering to their master that they had been caught.
"I do love it in Autumn," you had assumed she was talking about Eris, who else could she have been speaking of? "I was happy there, I think."
Feyre took your hand in hers and tugged you up, she had loaned you a few of her dresses for the time being, just until she and Mor could take you into town and buy everything your eyes landed on. They knew how it felt to feel out of place and unwelcomed, and they wouldn't wish that upon the fragile creature that had stumbled into their lives.
"You can be happy here too, if you just give us a chance?"
Hope.
For the first time in two weeks, since the nightmares began, you felt hope. Beautiful, all-consuming hope.
You took one last look out of the window as Feyre began to pull you from the room and toward her family, you found the stars that begged for your touch, sparkling brightly as if to say pick me, choose me. Their disappointment clear by their faltering shine as you willingly followed Feyre, followed her down the path of healing, a path toward the life you wanted to build for yourself.
Not for anyone else, but for you.
"I can see you. We're coming."
You bolted upright, your breath caught in your throat. It took you a moment to adjust to your surroundings, to realise that you were in Velaris, in a room across the hall from Azriel, and that Eris wouldn't be coming to bundle you into his embrace and have his steady heartbeat rock you back to sleep.
"We're coming."
Violet pools of shadow hovered before your face, they were wide, like they werenât expecting that you could see them. The only source of light in the pitch black room where you lay. An arm emitting black curls of smoke reached for you and you flinched backward, hitting your elbow against the headboard and hissing in pain.
"You're not meant to be here."
The voice was clouded but sounded so familiar, the warmth and tinge of worry in their eyes did also, it was odd, how a ripple of whispering shadow felt so intimate.
It disappeared as quickly as it came, floating away like a freshly blown out candle, wisping up through the roof and into space.

Crabs this is Noa you need to help me I'm in love with your restaurant AU I need more I love food and you combined it with the dca I can't I ca
Uhh what's in the menu? :D
HEHE ME TOO NOA!!
legit every meal i have is inspiration for this AU đ
as for the menu, welllll most of it is based on Hong Kong style cafe foods (because that's what inspired me at first), but the specials change regularly and go into many different cuisines.
the boys also specialize in different things too:
Sun specializes in healthy, nutritious meals. heâs also the most interested in learning all about food, from farms to cooking methods. if you ask him to surprise you, heâll discretely scan you and determine what your body needs and will cook something accordingly.
You are surprised as a bowl of soup appears in front of you, held by a gold hand. You follow that hand to itâs ownerâmeeting Sunâs blank eyes staring down at you.
âI⊠didnât order a soup,â you stutter.
âYou appear to be low in iron today,â Sun responds in his monotone voice before turning away, then adding, âThere is more if you need it. It's on the house.â
Without a further word, Sun returns to the kitchen.
The smell of the soup wafts to your nose and you decide to dig in. Itâs a fairly clear broth yet surprisingly flavourfulâthe kind of soup that takes more than a day to properly steep and simmer to extract all the flavours from itâs ingredients. Despite that, the soup was clear of any dregs at the bottomâjust the way you like it.
You feel your face warmâfrom the soup or from the attention, youâre not entirely sure.
You might take his offer for seconds.
Moon specializes in everything indulgent! juicy fried chicken? the cutest pastries? he loves them all and heâs always experimenting with new recipes. sure he recognizes the importance of a healthy meal, but sometimes you just need a boost, yknow? food is more than fuel, it can be something to be enjoyed.
When you stepped into the restaurant that morning, Moon could already tell you were off to a rough start. He watched from the kitchen window as you ate your breakfast, staring dryly at your phone.
And then he had an idea. Ooooohoohoohoo, clever Moon!
âGooooood morning, starlight,â Moon walks over to your seat at the bar table. âHowâs your breakfast? Would you like some dessert with it?â
You groggily look up from your phone, and nod, barely registering what he said. Then before you know it, Moon is gone and back again with a warm plate of french toast.
Moon wasnât kidding when he said dessertâthe toast is thick enough to be a cake! When you cut off a manageable bite, you realize itâs actually two slices of toast, sandwiching a gooey filling.
You take a bite and youâre surprised by how delicate and rich it is. The toast melts in your mouth and leaves behind the aroma of butter and eggs and the delightfully chilled sweetness of condensed milk coats your tongue.
Your expression must betray your reaction, because you see Moon smiling back at you so sweetly.
Eclipse is the main front of house, waiting tables and charming customers. and heâs also the barista, preparing a variety of drinks (and sometimes putting on a bit of a show while doing so). he can cook as well, but he leaves it mostly to Sun and Moon.
You have no idea how you got here. You decided to stop by the restaurant, only you forgot that today was their day off. However, youâve learned that the chefs live in the apartment above the restaurant, which explains why Eclipse found you and let you in.
Now you were seated at the empty bar table, while the charming barista prepared you a drink.
âHere we are,â Eclipse gently places a glass in front of you.
Based on the colour, the ice, and the straw, you take a guess, âIced coffee?â
âHalf correct,â Eclipse chuckles and pours himself a glass as well. âItâs one of my old bossâs favourites. Itâs called âyuenyeungâ, a mixture of milk tea and coffee.â
âOh, so âyuenyeungâ,â you grimace at your butchered pronunciation, âmeans âtea-coffeeâ, I guess?â
Eclipse smiles. For the short while youâve known him, you have learned you do not trust that smile. âNo, âyuenyeungâ refers to a pair of mandarin ducks that look very different, male and female. Theyâre a symbol of conjugal loveâa pair of two different elements coming together as one.â
You freeze as Eclipse chuckles and clinks your glass with his. âItâs more fragrant when itâs served warm, but itâs too hot for that today. Iâll save that treat for a day you need the warmth.â
Heâs right. It is too hot for this today. You take your glass and sip on the straw, Even chilled, the aroma of black tea, coffee, and smooth milk is strong on your tongue.
Even after downing your entire glass, you still feel too hot.

have you ever met someone who reminds you of the sun? full of warmth, and light. any clouds that hover around you instantly float away whenever you see them.Â
that is kim mingyu.
every day you got to see mingyu was a day that could never be spoiled. one look in his general direction, one glimpse of that radiant smile filled you with a feeling of fullness in your heart that the most expensive chocolate bar couldnât even begin to make you feel. spotting him in the campus dining hall, cheeks packed full of rice like a hamster storing food. seeing him under the large oak tree with his group of friends, a smile gracing his perfect face and his laughter ringing in the distance like the magical sound of a bell. the way his lips would pull in a soft, thoughtful pout as he concentrated so deeply on the problems in his calculus for the modern colligate textbook.Â
itâs the way he meets your eyes from far away. a glimmer in his eyes twinkling like starlight. a grin splits his face, revealing his kitten-like fangs. itâs the way he bounds over like a puppy happy his owner is home. his arms pull you in, and he smells like vanilla, spice, and a warm summer day. it's the way his heartbeat immediately syncs with your own. itâs the way he gently grabs your hand, and it fits perfectly like a missing puzzle piece. he slows his steps so that you can keep up with his long gait. his voice rumbles deeply as he asks about your day. you feel him squeeze your hand thrice, then look up to see that shining smile again. just in case you didnât get it, he still pushes the words past his lips. but you understood. he always makes you feel it without needing to tell you.
this kind of person who has all of those things â the tinkling laugh, the dazzling smile, a presence that makes you feel the safest you ever will in your whole life.
this kind of person, the kind of person kim mingyu is, is a person who makes every day feel like you could reach out and touch the sun. and he was all yours.
your own personal sun on earth.

Ride Em' Cowboy
Chapter 1: Being Family is a Promise
Pairing: Bull Rider! Daryl X Male! EMT! Reader
Era: Rodeo AU (A Walker Free AU)
Pronouns: He/Him/You
Warnings: Swearing, Merle Dixon, Merle being Merle, Peer Pressure, Bar Scene, Smoking, Blood, light violence, slow burn
Chapter Summery: Daryl is just trying to live his life. But he has obligations that can't be ignored. Obligations to the farm he works on to keep food on the table. Obligations to friends to keep a good repour in the town. Obligations to his last remaining family member to keep him safe from his own self destructive ass.
Cigarette smoke swirled and made the air thick in the little po-dunk bar Merle frequented every single night. Daryl as the younger brother used the excuse that he had to accompany Merle... not just for the free smokes and booze Merle's friends inevitably bestowed upon him seeing him without a beer already firmly in his hand, but... to make sure Merle make it home in one piece alive and well whether he liked it or not. His brother was a bad driver even while sober.
Saddling up to the bar Daryl nursed his fourth beer of the night. Some shitty lager or Lite beer he didn't know the name of that one of Merle's shady biker friends shoved in his hands. "When you ever gonna learn?" The owner of the bar hummed shaking her head. Soft brown eyes conflicted with starlight grey hair. Staring up at the woman through his tipsy haze Daryl clicked his tongue, pulling a pack of Pall Mall Reds out of his breast pocket patting them against the bar's counter top. "Learn wha'?" He slurred, his eyes falling to his hands, flicking open the carton top of his cigarettes. Pulling one out by it's orange filter by his teeth, he wasn't surprised when a clean glass slammed against the counter in front of him. Following pale skin up to her face Daryl stared blankly back at the woman. "Followin' the likes of him around is only gonna drag ya down, pookie." Carol hummed her eyes skating past Daryl's shoulder to a table where Merle was bent over whispering in some pretty little young blonde's ear.
"Dumb sum' bitch..." Daryl huffed, throwing his arm back in his seat. "Bastard jest don't know when ta fuckin' stop." He hissed shoving the carton back in his pocket. Fishing the lighter from another pocket he ignored the forlorn way the owner stared at him. "Maybe... jest remember it ain't always your job ta clean up his messes." She hummed. Turning his glare onto Carol he huffed. "Yeah... and if it ain't then who's fuckin' job is it then?" He growled throwing himself back in his seat.
Taking a long drag from his cigarette he let the smoke linger and burn in his throat and lungs. Turning his glare to the wall full of posters behind Carol, Daryl huffed. Though he could hardly focus long enough on any of them to read the finer print with details and other nesciences, he could read the big bold titles that were meant to catch the eye of any passer by.
Fishing Contest at the Docks!! Bring the kids!!
One said in various fonts and bright bold letters that screamed it was meant for middle aged men and their wives. Daryl huffed rolling his eyes glancing down the bar to his right eyeing a blonde number who was trying almost desperately through her drunken stupor to snap a clear photograph of the poster with her cellphone. He assumed just by looking at her she was a deadbeat single mother. The large fake ass gold hoop earrings. The botched boob job and second hand knockoff designer clothing... Desperate to reconnect with her teenage kids in this last ditch attempt to keep some relevance in their life before they all ran off in their own ways... it was derepressing just to think about.
MISSING DOG: BUSTER WILL PAY REWARD
This poster in particular caught Daryl's attention with the bold capital letters screaming at him. The photo of the dog under the words looked sad, its black eyes wide and tearful, ears back as it looked up at whoever took the picture. Daryl hoped that where ever it ended up the dog ended up safer and happier than it looked there... He also wondered as he lifted his beer to his lips, if Buster was the name of the dog or the man paying the reward for the dog... It wouldn't do much good to go out yelling for the name of your bank when you need a loan would it? So why would he go out screaming some random man's name when he wasn't positive it wasn't the dog's? To top it off, one run over of the poster showed there wasn't a phone number for this person... nor an address... so what? This Buster just wanted to brag that his dog was missing? Or maybe it was a dog family desperately looking for their missing Buster. Now Daryl was really fucking confused...
Finishing his beer in one go to help clear his head he sighed. The damned wall looked like the classified section of the damned newspaper.
Roommate Needed!
Ah yes... strangers in the home were always a fantastic idea. Fucking idiot was going to end up on 60 seconds...
Rodeo This Saturday!
Did Daryl look like a god damned clown? He only tolerated the ranch he worked at for the free food and reduced rent while living on property with Merle. He wasn't about to spend his free time around more animals than he had to.
Greene's Farm Half Price! Tomatoes Carrots Lettuce Peppers - Banana, Jalapeno, Ghost, and Bell Onions Whole Ducks Whole Chickens Eggs - Unsorted! by the dozen + More!
Now that... that Daryl could get behind. The Greene's Farm was a small family owned farm in town. They took care of their own. He appreciated that. Maybe he'd swing down later in the week to restock their fridge. It was looking a little bare.
Glass shattering against the wall Daryl was fixated on pulled him out of his thoughts. Whipping around he had to admit. He wasn't completely surprised to see the heavy set man with a bald head glaring daggers at his older brother. A large arm wrapped tightly around the tiny blonde Merle had just been flirting with. The man's handlebar mustache flared out with every breath he took. Dressed in clothing that was much too expensive for the likes of the hole in the wall bar Daryl cocked his brow wondering what a man like that was ever doing in a town like this in the first place.
"Listen here ya fuckin' no good shit stain." The man growled pointing directly at Merle's chest. "I don't ever wanna see ya near my Lou ever again ya hear! Or I'll paint yer fuckin' brains all over the god damned walls!" He hissed. A reasonable request if anyone asked Daryl. Didn't matter if she were his wife or his daughter... based off the age gap alone he surely hoped it was the latter.
"Now hold on and give me a minute." Merle mused, placing his hands down on the table splaying his fingers wide. A shit eating grin plastering his face. "I didn't even kiss her."
Oh fuck.
The man's face twisted from anger and confusion to rage. "You tryin' ta prove somethin' with that?! I don't give a damn if ya kissed her! Keep yer fuckin' mits off her!" The man screamed turning beat red.
Pushing off his seat Daryl moved to stand behind his brother. Whether it was to pull his ass out of danger or fight alongside him... he wasn't sure yet. But he knew his place and he knew it well.
Merle hummed his grin turning devilish with Daryl by his side. "Well... how about a friendly wager then?" He mused. Fucking asshole.
The man opened his mouth to speak but Merle's hand shot up to interrupt. "My best man against yers... this Saturday."
The fuck did he just say? Eyebrows shooting up way past his hairline Daryl could have cold cocked Merle in the back of the head had the situation been less perilous.
But the man straightened up. Seemingly taking the bet into consideration. At a glance he didn't seem like the type to gamble especially in fights... then again Daryl couldn't exactly judge in other's vices.
"Now hold on I don't even know yer name." The man said skeptically. Good on him.
But the eldest Dixon was cunning. He hadn't gotten out of five separate charges for grand larceny and fraud for nothing. Standing up straight he met the man's eyes. "You mean you ain't never heard of little old me?" He asked. "Name's Merle Dixon." A beat passed where Daryl was positive the man had soused Merle out. He would kick his ass and this charade would end. But instead... he nodded. "Jaxon Porter. You got a team in this weekend's rodeo?" Jaxon asked earnestly.
You've gotta be shi-
Daryl's thoughts were interrupted as Merle nodded reaching behind himself. Patting Daryl's shoulder hard enough to make him stumble forward the younger huffed staring hard and direct to the floor. "Sure do. Matter o' fact. Mah little brotha' is our cowboy in this year's roughstock events. Ain't that right Daryl?" Merle hummed turning a hard threatening glance his way.
Swallowing hard Daryl shuffled his feet. He hated this. He didn't exactly have plans. But he knew how fucking dangerous it all was. He fucked around cleaning enough of the bull's hooves back a the ranch to know how temperamental they were in a stall. On their back? With nothing but a rope? Never having been dehorned? Nah fuck that.
But Merle stared expectantly. The man in white expensive clothing with way too many rings on his hands was eyeing him up like a prized pig. He honestly doubted he even looked the part of a real cowboy.
But then Merle laughed rubbing his back in a way Daryl resented. "Don't worry bout him none. He's the quiet type." He mused to the rich prick. To his surprise the bastard nodded rubbing the stubble on his chin. "Makes sense. Most are." Are what?!
Shaking his head Jaxson looked down at... Lou who nodded excitedly back before meeting Merle's eyes with a gleeful expectant glint tainting her own that Daryl had seen over and over in every five dollar whore Merle brought home.
"Alright... deal. Your boy against mine. If he can out ride 'em you get ta see Lou again..." he sighed. Merle nodded smirking victoriously. "Until then-" He extended his hand toward the girl taking her hand in his raising it to his lips. But before he could even get close Jaxon's hand moved to his waist band where a pistol would be.
Stepping back Merle gripped the back of Daryl's shirt dragging him to the door with him. "AND... that's my queue baby! See you both Saturday!"
It was silent outside of the bar. Only the sound of the crickets singing and the cicadas screaming echoed through the parking lot as both Daryl and Merle stumbled to their cancer riddled truck. Struggling for domain of the driver's seat, Daryl pulled the keys from his pocket dangling them high for Merle to see. From the hard cracked leather seat he watched as Merle threw his usual temper tantrum. Bitching and complain through the glass of the truck he kicked a few rocks in the bar's parking lot before taking a piss beside the truck to mark his territory.
As Merle climbed into his side of the truck Daryl couldn't help himself... not that he wanted to anyhow. Cocking back he punched Merle square in the fucking nose just as the dick got the door closed so that the back of his head smaked off the glass window pane on his door. Watching for a moment as Merle groaned as held his face, blood flowing freely from between his fingers onto his lap, Daryl pulled a used MacWondles napkin out from the cupholder and shoved it in Merle's face.
"The fuck was tha' for?!" Merle growled with tears springing to the corners of his eyes holding the useless napkin up to his face that instantly turned to mush in his hands from the sheer amount of blood that soaked up in it. Pulling out of the lot Daryl stayed silent. Focused on the road and not swerving all over it both in his anger and drunken haze.
"Well?!" Merle hissed once more, winding the window down to toss the soaked paper out the window and pull his wifebeater off to use as a rag,
"Know damned well what ya did..." Daryl murmured. Staring like Daryl had just grown a second head Merle waved his free arm around exaggeratedly. "Obviously fuckin' not dip shit!" Merle screamed his voice sounding congested and nasally as he pinched his nose shut.
Pulling to a stop at the only stop sign in town Daryl turned and glared at Merle. His full attention on his brother he took in everything he desperately tried to find something redeeming in his brother... in that moment it was damned near impossible. It was a good thing he had been with him this long to know what his thick and thin looked like.
"You know I never rode a bull before." He murmured softly, his shoulders dropping and face falling.
Merle smirked a warm chuckle swelled from his chest. "Well hell baby brother." He hummed, relaxing in his seat. "Didn't have ta hit me just cause ya were scared... I'm sure learning ta ride a bull is jest as easy as riding a bike... you'll see. It'll be easy as pie. And trust me, there will be a hefty lump sum in for ya too if you win."
Daryl doubted that. He doubted that he'd ever make it out into the ring without being caught as a sham. Christ... who were they fooling?
Pulling away from the stop sign towards the trailer they both shared Daryl couldn't shake the nagging gnawing dread that ate into his stomach. But... Family came first. Right?

I put some of Nippon Ichi's VNs from a few years ago on here in the off chance that, after bringing Process of Elimination over, they'd be willing to bring more over, too.
It's nice to see a bunch that were on last year's list actually got brought over or are in the process of coming over.
...seriously, KT, please bring Ciel Nosurge DX/Ar Nosurge DX over.

October 6th @prongsfoot-microfic prompt "blow" (I'm v late ik, I'm sorry)
Birthday
James sat at his desk studying - or trying to. He was in his last year at Loughborough University, studying sport science. Besides wanting be a professional athlete, he also decided on helping those in that area. He could be a sports psychologist, since he always had a passion for helping, or a coach. He had options and time. He just needed to focus.
His phone rang. 'Sirius' - scratch that plan.
They exchanged numbers after Black finished the commission of drawing Potter's dog, Padfoot. It was on the owner's phone screen. To his delight, Pads was also inspiration for a small ceramic sculpture, 'consider this extra as a thank you for your family's pottery lessons', Sirius had said.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Sirius."
"I know, I have your contact saved. And there aren't many Siriuses, I reckon." His smile was probably audible. The other boy had the same type of humour, which was comforting.
"I'm special like that. So uhm... My birthday's next week's Friday. I don't normally celebrate it but my friend Marlene insisted on doing something since we don't see each other much ever since I moved here. We're going to a bar, just us, her girlfriend and my ex."
"Your ex?" Perhaps he still had feelings for them? I mean, wasn't it awkward to be around an ex?
"Yeah, he's my best friend. Even after the breakup." He. If it hadn't been clear already, this was the confirmation that the hottest man James had ever met was, in fact, not straight.
"Oh, that's nice."
"So... Would you like to come? You don't have to, I understand that we haven't met long ago and you don't know my friends..."
"I'd love to!" Maybe he answered a tad too fast. But Black didn't seem to mind.
"Wicked! It's at The Bell Foundry. How does 8 PM sound?"
"Perfect!"
"Brill. A'ight, see ya then, mate. Oh, and don't get me anything." He definitely would.
"Bye, cheers."
Potter got there 15 minutes earlier. He was used to arriving first. When the birthday boy arrived, the tanned one blushed, heart skipping a beat. Fuck, he's bloody hot.
Glittery sheer crop top, his pierced nipples and chest tattoo visible, ripped black jeans with fishnets underneath, a buckled belt and chains, high heeled platform black boots, a choker that James wanted to pull, several silver necklaces and rings, and a glittery black smokey eye makeup with star rhinestones on the inner corners. His sharp features were even more noticeable with his hair in a messy bun.
"Like what you see?"
"Uh- I-" He composed himself and cleared his throat "Happy birthday!" The other man snorted but didn't press on the matter.
"Thank you. And thanks for coming."
"Thanks for the invitation. I know you told me not to but... I was never good with following orders." It was half true. He obeyed those he looked up to, like his parents and coach. Other than that? Mischief maker that looked too innocent for his own good.
He extended a black tote bag with a ribbon. "You really didn't need to-"
"I wanted to. Go on, open." Pale hands opened the bag, a bit confused. "It's empty?" To further confuse him, Jamie grinned.
"Oh silly me! It's backwards!" He exclaimed theatrically, took the bag and turned it inside out, revealing a Guns 'N' Roses logo. "There you go!"
"Bloody hell, this is great! You like them too??"
"Haven't heard much, to be honest. But you were wearing a graphic shirt the day we met and you have a quote of them on your Instagram so I figured you were a fan."
"That's actually so thoughtful, thanks." Good, he doesn't see it as creepy. You can relax now.
They hugged and pulled away after a whistle caught Sirius's attention.
"Happy birthday Starlight!"
"Moony!" He ran and hugged who Potter presumed was the ex. He was a tad intimidating. Very tall, neutral expression that could hide so much emotion, some few scars that indicated fights... Yet he was strangely attractive. He could see the appeal.
The brown haired lad hugged back, patting his friend's head. Potter couldn't help but feel jealous.
"Meet my new friend James! James, this is Remus."
"Hi, nice to meet you." Was the waving awkward?
"Likewise. Yer here early. I usually have to wait for ye." He had turned to his ex and swiftly put a cigarette between his chapped lips.
"Yeah, wanted to be with James before anyone else got here so he wouldn't be alone." Potter wasn't blushing. He wasn't. He was.
"Oh, thanks. That's nice of you."
"I'm always nice." The snicker coming from the tallest lad indicated otherwise. And from the little James already knew about Black, he was definitely very cheeky. "We should probably head inside. We'll catch a cold if we wait for Marlene."
"I dunno how ye two manage to be late everywhere. If ya weren't both gay, ya'd be a perfect match. Ye two go ahead, imma finish my smoke."
It had taken another half an hour before the last two members of the party arrived together. The mentioned Marlene was a short bubbly non-binary Filipino who was unapologetically loud. Their girlfriend Dorcas was more collected yet sociable. Her very dark skin looked amazing with the bright colours of her outfit.
Potter's nervousness eased after a while. They hit it all off well, albeit being ever so slightly jealous of 'Moony'.
"So what's the deal between ye two?" They both looked over to where the birthday boy was moving his hips to the music, next to a box dyed blonde head.
"Oh, we're just friends." Sadly. The tallest probably read his mind, giving him an unreadable look.
"I reckon he fancies ye. I recognise those eyes. Don't know ye but I'd say y'also do."
Saved by the bell, or rather, by the cake. "Happy birthday to you..." Dorcas had a cake in her hands, placing it next to James. Marlene was pulling their friend through the crowd.
"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday dear Sirius..." All four were singing, some clubbers and bartenders joined, others didn't bother. Black seemed to love the attention he was getting.
"Happy birthday to you!" The grin. The eye twinkle that matched the top. He ought to celebrate his anniversary from now on.
"Make a wish!" Silver eyes shut as if concentrating very hard and the candles were blown. People cheered and went back to their lives.
"Thank you all for this. Really. Did you make it, Dorcas?"
"Yes I did. My famous chocolate fudge."
"You're amazing. A'ight, let's cut it before Moony starts drooling." They all laughed.
The cake was top tier. The music had been great. The environment was friendly and so were the people. All in all it was a very fun night, one like James hadn't had in a long time.

The Lemon Legacy: Generation 1, Chapter 115 - Every Rose Has Its Thorne
Ophelia's in Del Sol Valley to represent The Main Squeeze at the Starlight Accolades tonight, because their latest single was nominated for Best Song!
I don't think Xander is technically allowed to attend because he's not famous, but the Watcher is gonna teleport him in anyway.
Xander: Good luck, Lemon Cake.
Ophelia: I'm just happy we got nominated. Thank you for being here though.
Host: Let's get a move on, folks, I can't cash that big ol' check if there's no show!
The first Accolade goes to Thorne Bailey for being an all around great Sim! Don't know why that's a category, but okay.
Don't get used to this sitting arrangement. The crowd was apparently playing musical chairs during the entire ceremony.
Thorne: I'd like to thank my beautiful wife Octavia, our son Orange, and our two Neighborhood Stories kids the Watcher doesn't know the names of.
Ophelia can't believe she's in the same room as Thorne Bailey. She wonders if Hector ever did talk trash to him about herâŠ
Host: And the winner of our next Starlight Accolade is⊠Some random teenager!
The random teen is named Sasha and she wore her finest randomized outfit!
Sasha: This one's for my stans who threatened every member of the Accolade Committee. Literally couldn't have done it without you. Rando Army represent!
Okay, enough "Watcher" commentary, this is me, Kelsey, talking. I have never had a Sim go to the Starlight Accolades but is it ALWAYS this chaotic? Everybody keeps getting up and talking over the host, nobody stays in their seat, or sits in a seat at all! It's a NIGHTMARE
Host: Our last winner is-
Megumi Ito interrupts with her horrendous violin skills.
Host: Thank you for that, Megumi! You're famous for being a skier and have no musical interests so I don't know why you're doing this but why not.
Even this guy's getting annoyed at the chaos.
Host: I'm gonna be honest, gang, the Watcher doesn't remember this girl's name and neither do I. She's also some random famous teenager.
Tea Neighjur: Thank you to my FlipFlop followers, and my manager for bribing the judges to give me this award! âŠI mean the Watcher. Mwah!
Ophelia: That was⊠something.
Xander: Sure was. Sorry you guys didn't win.
Ophelia: Eh, brushing elbows with celebrities was kind of fun.
Speaking of⊠Thorne's getting ready to leave. Ophelia would love to share her side of the story regarding her encounter with Hector.
Ophelia: I'm gonna try to catch Thorne. You want to come with?
Xander: Nah, I don't want to pass out and flop on the ground, this suit is dry clean only. I'll just get a drink for double the usual price at the bar. Good luck!
Ophelia: Mr. Bailey, wait! Can we talk before you leave?
Thorne: Apparently we can, because you're doing something besides asking for a selfie. You're a celebrity too, yeah? Pardon, don't think we've met.
Ophelia: Ophelia Lemon. I'm the lead singer of The Main Squeeze.
Ophelia assumes that's not going to ring any bells for him but-
Thorne: Ah, Orange listens to your music all the time. You've got a good set of pipes. Sorry I didn't recognize you, just haven't had the chance to look you up myself, I suppose.
She's speechless.
Ophelia: Thank you. That's a big honor Mr. Bailey.
Thorne: Thorne's fine.
Ophelia: Right. Listen, Thorne, if Hector Laurent told you anything about me, none of it is true.
Thorne dwells on this much too long for her liking.
Thorne: Who the bloody hell is Hector Laurent?
Ophelia: Uh⊠he's the owner of the wedding venue you got married at. He said you stayed in touch.
Thorne: The bloke with the fedora?
Ophelia: Yeah.
Thorne: I mean, he kept texting me saying if I ever remarried he'd give me a discount, but I wouldn't say we're close.
Ophelia: Of course that little⊠Well, thanks for hearing me out, anyway.
Thorne: No problem, dear. Mind if I get an autograph for Orange?
Ophelia: Of course!
She tries to steady her shaking hands as she signs an autograph for the son of the biggest musician out there.
Thorne: Thanks, love. That'll earn me some cool dad points.
Ophelia: Being Thorne Bailey isn't enough?
Thorne: Apparently not. Kids.
Thorne: Pleasure to meet you, Ophelia. Keep your chin up. You'll have your own Accolade someday.
Ophelia: Thanks, Thorne. That means a lot.
Fan: OMW your faves could never!!!
Ophelia: Do you ever get used to the fans?
Thorne: Yeah. Honestly the ego boost is nice. Take care.
Thorne disappears into the night. Ophelia might not be going home with a trophy, but some kind words from a 4-star celebrity are good too.
This fan is definitely going to go home and write Ophelia Lemon/Thorne Bailey fanfic but she's too happy to care.
Ophelia tries to go back in to check in on Xander but someone approaches her.
Fan: Wow, Ophelia Lemon, in the flesh! I gotta say, the Accolades were totally rigged this year. We stan our citrus queen!
Ophelia: Oh! Thank you!
Fan: Can I have your autograph?
Ophelia: Sure!
Ophelia tries to get back in the building several times but fans keep coming up and asking for hugs and selfies. How can she deny the people that have given her the opportunity to keep doing what she loves?
When she finally pulls away from the crowd, she runs into Brytani.
Ophelia: Hey, Brytani, remember me?
Brytani: You're making yourself awfully hard to forget, kid, and I mean that in a good way. You're popular tonight.
Ophelia: I guess so. I've never had this many fan encounters in one night before. Guess it's a coincidence.
Brytani: Honey, come on. Thorne Bailey knows who you are. He barely remembers who I am and we dated for like a year.
Ophelia: I think he just knows me because Orange listens to me.
Brytani: Thorne doesn't strike me as dad of the year. He must be hearing your name elsewhere too.
Brytani: And not just that, he had a CONVERSATION with you. Thorne doesn't speak to anyone that's not a 4-star celebrity besides his own wife and kids.
Ophelia: Well, I'm not a 4-star celebrity and he spoke to me.
Brytani: I'm really gonna have to spell it out for you, huh.
Brytani: Ophelia, you made it. You're a 4-star celeb.
Ophelia: Wh-What? We didn't even win an award tonight!
Brytani: Only like one of those are given fairly. You think anybody's reading Tea Neighjur's legacy thread? Nope! It'll be your turn soon, my fellow Proper Celebrity!
Brytani: Trust me, I can tell. You'd be sparkling if the Watcher hadn't turned that feature off.
Things did feel⊠different. Maybe Brytani has a point.
Ophelia: Oh my Watcher! I think you're right!
Brytani: Go out there and pose for that crowd. You've earned it.
Ophelia basks in the flashing lights as some of her fans whisper excitedly amongst themselves and others take pictures of her and shower her in praise.
"She's slaying tonight!" "YASSS QUEEN!" "Mommy! Sorry. Mommy! Sorry. Mommy! SORRY! MO-"
Ophelia tries her hardest to stay humble, but just for tonight, she allows herself to be a little self-absorbed. After all, becoming a Proper Celebrity is something to feel good about!
While all of this has been happening, Xander's just been enjoying his drink, unable to talk to anybody else at the bar because they're all celebrities.
Octavia's waiting for her husband, because she's too juiced to realize he already left without her lmao

The Red Flags.
Wyatt Cross.
One of six children to Evelyn and Robert Cross.
Survior of the Cross Family Massacre.
Born Witch & Empath. Shitty Witch, Shitty Empath.
Kidnapped as a child and human trafficed for over a decade.
Current Master of the underground Black Market and human/supernatural traffic ring.
Owner of Starlight Bar.
Current Patriarch of the Cross Coven & Abarith Coven, Head Witch on the King's Court / Voice of the Witches of Abarith (much to their and HIS dismay).
Personality can be summed up to this: If it benefits him, he's in, otherwise fuck off.
The Witches of Abarith and the Vampires have an ongoing war. Though it's calmed down over the years to just petty pranks, street brawls and occasional acts of arson, Wyatt and Luka do not get along. Once childhood friends (and Luka does not give a shit about Wyatt), Wyatt frequently when in the same room as Luka loses his temper and attempts to murder him. The easiest way to set Wyatt off is to ask about his family, or Luka Reid and his family.
Vurphoadith (Artemis).
MENTALLY UNSTABLE.
God of Creation (Actual Title) / God of Monsters (self imposed title)
Father of (Vercingetorix) Eric, who is actually a fracture of Artemis' soul and his first creation. Uncle to Adriel.
Technically a Shapeshifter himself, he is locked to two forms due to having mentally broken himself and shattered his own soul. The form of a child (chosen to create a feeling of comfort in people since a child seems innocent) and his true form (an adult man).
The second strongest being in Abarith / the universe, surpassed by Eric strictly speaking because he's broken / at half power.
Fiercely protective of Eric he will regularly attempt to harm (mentally and physically) anyone who gets close to Eric.
Enjoys violence, pain, blood, ritualistic sacrifices and dissecting people. Enjoys it more when in the chaotic (child) form.
One of Seven Pillars that created the foundation for the universe / Abarith. Artemis is the youngest of his siblings who were very afraid of him because of what he could do and what he was creating. Artemis' siblings isolated him out and after centuries of mental torture he became what he is.
Artemis will not talk about his siblings.
#â â resident; wyatt cross.#â â resident; artemis.#( We call this post: the muses you shouldn't want to interact with )#( a man who can tap into emotions and understand people deeply but chooses to harm them with that instead )#( and a man who saught comfort and love so much but was routinely denied it for so long he gave up and broke )#â â ïčê°áŽáŽáŽê±ïč; abarith.

â°ââ€Â AEVUM ISLES :: VIDERENOX OBSERVATORY â
The summer celebration has finally reached its peak. The golden moon is full, and casts its glow across all of Aevum. This morning, all Echoes and Aercon alike receive, a golden envelope. Inside is a letter that reads:
Dear Starlights and Starbrights, We cordially invite you to attend the Solstice Ball, held this year at the Vidrenox Observatory in Downtown Arcanus. Please wear your finest black tie attire to the event, and be prepared to dance the night away among the stars. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments shall be provided. Simply bring this letter to the observatory in order to enter the celebration. We look forward to your presence. With regards, Dr. Janus Astrophel
Throughout the days of June 16th - 30th, multiple gatherings will be held inside of the Vidernox Observatory.
(After the festival, the Observatory will become a permanent addition to Arcanus Isle. See below for details regarding the activity and information about the new location!)
Viderenox Observatory
A building dedicated to the study of the stars above Aevum Isles. The structure itself is round and made up of two stories. The observatory is owned and operated by Dr. Janus Astrophel, who is well-known for his dedication to studying the cosmos. He is very kind, albeit anxious and especially particular about no one touching his papers. Some say that he will even fly into a frantic panic if even a single paper is moved!
He has long grey hair, often braided with gold or silver threads ( put there by his 8-year-old granddaughter, Stella Astrophel, who can often be seen helping her uncle run the observatory ), and wears a long galaxy-patterned robe. He loves teaching and discussing his findings with anyone who happens to have a minimum of three hours of free time.
FIRST FLOOR
The first floor is a vast, open space, with a giant telescope sitting right in the center. There are offices and labs at its base where researchers toil endlessly studying the galactic bodies. (There is also a gift shop! Wares include various space-themed wares, books, and star maps native to the Aevum Isles.)
SECOND FLOOR
The second story (which sits along the perimeter wall, and shares the same roof as the first floor) has many educational exhibits, detailing common knowledge of the galaxy, as well as published research journals and guides to space and the stars. These cannot be taken from the observatory. However, copies of these books may be found at the Arcanus Archives Second Floor for further reading inside the Archives.
Throughout the day, the main room on the first floor becomes a Planetarium, where a live show will talk about the planets, stars, and other novelties found in space. While it is primarily education in function, the Aercon take pride in putting on spectacle, and bring the show to life with the help of floating star lanterns.
At night, the ceiling opens up like a flower, allowing for viewing of the night sky with more impromptu demonstrations.
Solstice Ball
During the last two weeks of June, the main event held inside the observatory is the highly anticipated Solstice Ball. The ceiling of the conservatory opens, allowing for the light of the golden moon to shine upon the dancers below.
In order to attend, the invited must present their golden letter to the attendants at the gate. Inside, arrivals will find the well-decorated room full of people dressed in their finest, fanciest attire.
Attendants walk between guests with trays of drinks and hors d'oeuvre, though larger portions may also be found at the open bar and snack tables. The food was catered by the famous Chef Trop Chere, owner of the Casa Nova restaurant. The featured wine is, of course, Honeyglow Meadery's Sunflower Wine.
The telescope is also open to those who may wish for a closer look at the stars. Janus Astrophel can be found there assisting visitors with the equipment and teaching them about Aevum's galaxy. The studies and offices are closed during the event. Echoes who prefer to explore will find these doors have been locked. Fortunately, other exhibits may be explored, creating quieter areas of rest during the party.
Of course, the main activity of the ball is the dance! A live orchestra fills the hall with beautiful music, while the dancers pair and waltz under the stars. In some of the dance numbers, the floor of the observatory matches the night sky above. This creates the appearance of literally dancing amidst the stars.
Aevum Galaxy
With the observatory comes brand new information about the stars and planets that exist outside of Aevum! These will also be found on a dedicated page once the festival has reached its conclusion.
Aevum is a flat, endless plane in the center of its universe. Everything else rotates around it. Although the ocean seems to have no end, everyone can observe above them an entire universe full of wonders still being discovered to this day.
The Sun
This ball of gas rotates around Aevum, creating the day and night cycles as we know it. It is called Auty in some legends, but is typically just called the Sun regardless.
The Moons
Aevum has two moons: Agat and Alle, with Agat being the bigger of the two sisters (and is the moon that changes appearance which has also given it the nickname "Bearer Moon"). The two moons work together in tandem creating the tides and illuminating the night.
The Planets
There are five planets that orbit Aevum. Each one is unique, though none are believed to have life on them. These can be viewed better during different parts of the year, which the observatory holds special viewings of whenever they do come around.
Ignis - the smallest of the planets and the one closest to the sun. Because of this, the surface is extremely hot and barren. The surface is also covered in lava with wax-like properties. So when one side faces the sun, the lava moves. While on the dark side of the planet, the lava turns firm and hard. It has two moons called Glim and Coal. From Arcanus, it takes on a reddish color.
Lutum - because it's fairly close to the sun, this second can get hot. However, the planet is also observed to be potentially covered in all sorts of precious materials/minerals. In fact, its surface is completely covered in rocks. This planet also has the most moons, having five of them called Basalt, Granite, Mica, Slate, and Quartz. From the ground, it takes on a purple color.
Folium - one of the most observed planets in the system, due to the fact it does appear to be able to sustain life on its surface. There is water and plants, and presumably an entire ecosystem. However, the Aercon have not been able to make any expeditions to Folium. All previous attempts have ended in disaster. This planet only has one moon called Root. From the ground, it takes on a green color.
Ventus - this is the biggest planet in the system. It has two rings that circle it ( resembling an atom ) and is completely made up of toxic gases all flowing in all different directions. The rings rotate slowly as well. This planet has four moons, named Cirrus, Stratus, Cumulus, and Nimbo. From the ground, it takes on a yellow color.
Amnis - the planet furthest away from the sun. This planet is entirely made out of water, which is mostly frozen into ice as a result. It is the hardest to spot in the solar system. It is also the planet that is the least known about due to its rare spotting. It has three moons called Glacier, Droplet, and Steam. From the ground, it will take on a faint blue color.
The Stars
Aevum's night sky is full of many constellations, though, in texts, some constellations appear to be blurred out whenever one tries to read about them. They come and go in cycles depending on the season, with some Aercon attributing personalities to certain constellations.
The current constellations include:
The Kirin - A group of 10 stars that resemble a Kirin rearing its horn towards the north - the tip of its horn is identified as a northern star which many sailors reference in their travels. The constellation is most visible in the winter months.
The Phoenix - A group of 10 stars that resemble a phoenix flying towards the south. The constellation is most visible in the summer months.
The Dragon - A group of 9 stars that resemble the form of a dragon, the head of which points east. This constellation is most visible in the spring months.
The Turtle - A group of 12 stars that resemble the form of a turtle, the head of which is pointing towards the west. This constellation is most visible in the autumn months.
The Tree - A group of 13 stars that appear to resemble an echo tree, located in the Arcanus Isle. Though the form of the tree is contained, many imagine its branches to expand far beyond this connecting all stars in the cosmos.
This list will be updated as more constellations are discovered.

setting: bad moon brewing
featuring: royce van doren iii & skye carrington @skyecarrington
Ever since heâd been caught in a fire at Starlight Royce had switched up his preferred bar to offer his patronage, going into Echo Acres of all places for his now favorite place to have a drink and flirt with hot hopefuls. At least thatâs how it had been for most nights â that night Royce was seeking something a bit more laid back, a drink and maybe the company of a friend more so than a one night stand. âLio!â He flagged down Skye Carrington the moment he caught sight of him with a large suave smile on his face, some pretty and scantily clad blonde hanging off his elbow. âYou handsome devil you, there you are. This is the guy I was telling you about,â he addressed the woman with him, âMy good friend, owner of this fantastic bar, that I have been looking all night for. Say, whatâs a man gotta do to get the best drinks for his lovely company and her entourage back there?â He sounded charming but the look he gave Skye revealed the desire to get this clinger away from him. Come up with something, you clever boy, any excuse to have her torn off the sleeve of his fancy European three piece suit which was starting to stink of cheap perfume. âWe had something to discuss, didnât we?â He was fishing, giving the woman a shrug and a smile, âBusiness calls, darling. Why donât you just write your number on a cocktail napkin? Iâm sure Iâll find it eventually.â He carefully pulled his arm out of her hot pink taloned grip, sidling up to the bar owner and smacking a hearty hand on the otherâs back as he whirled them away from her. âDear god, remind me to start looking into that âstreet wearâ the youths style themselves up in these days. I need to start looking like I pay rent or something.â He scratched the back of his neck, nose wrinkling as he said, âDo you think I can still be me in a beanie?â He scoffed, âGod, probably not.â

POPPY REED (REBECCA RITTENHOUSE) IS LOOKING FOR...
Connection:Â Rival Bar Owner
Suggested Name:Â UTP
Age Range:Â UTP
Species:Â Werewolf is preferred, but UTP
Suggested FCs:Â Adria Arjona, Luke Mitchell, Kofi Siriboe, Jesse Williams, Zorzo Natharuetai, Monica Raymund, Ana De Armas, Francois Arnaud, Giovana Cordeiro, Priscilla Quintana, or utp
Connection Description:
5 years ago Poppy bought The Starlight Bar from it's previous owner. I picture your character also tried to buy it, but their offer was declined for one reason or another.
To spite Poppy I see them opening one of the following bars (Shipfaced or Bad Moon Brewing) and now are in direct competition with Poppy.
The two constantly are trying to outdo one another with different events, promotions, and etc.
I do think it would be fun if they were a different species from a witch like a werewolf. That way they also are competing as different species.
Please be sure to contact the player before applying:

Updated Icons; Wyatt. Wyatt already has a few very important headcanons on the blog that explain him.
Random Facts Starlight Bar Impotant Information Skills The Cross Coven.
To congest it down, Wyatt is one of the main "characters" on this blog relative to the plot, if you can call what I do on here a plot. His mother's death was the primary cause of the downfall of everything that happened. He is childhood friends with Hiroki, Luka, and Akira. He is also the owner of Starlight Bar, which is actually incredibly popular and highly profitable. He is also the new King of the Underground black market.
đđđđđ đđ đđđ đ đđđđ đđđđđđ.
He is a criminal, he kidnaps, sells and hurts people. He uses the bar to hide the money he makes from the black market and he does this actually incredibly well. He's not actually an aggressive person, he won't be the first one to attack, but he will defend himself verbally and physically when needed. Wyatt has, since escaping slavery, learned self-defense and how to fight. He took MMA and is quite well adapt at defending himself. He also has some basic skills in offensive magic but even that is very simple and weak.
He is not above prostituting himself, but he does make people pay for it in large amounts. He does think he is worth his weight in gold but he also is aware he's a shitty human being. He puts more effort in his appearence than he does his personality and even his own house.
Wyatt and Casimir often have sex, Casimir feeds from him regularly, Wyatt doesn't make him pay for it simply because Casimir is an incubus and a great lay. He basically uses him for emotionless sex and Casimir is aware of it.

im sure someone has asked this but 696
#696 is delightfully, wonderfully, holy-shit-I-didn't-realize-how-little-art-I-had-of-him-what-the-fuck Hero of Wind and Voices, Tarim 'Laqir' Nakoshima, chosen Hero of Kharos! Pictured here as his recolor.me from 2020, a very bad drawn image from 2014, and a base art from 2012. As you can see, he's always had Generic Anime Protagonist brown hair and green eyes, and has always had that bright-red and bright-cyan motif around him.
When @castcuraga decides he is ready to open commissions, I will give him somewhere between 150-300$ CAD and he will do a fully painted picture of Tarim for me, and it will be glorious, and it will force me to draw a full reference of him, which tbh he really needs.
I know I said 'a few facts'. You're getting a fucking infodump and you will like it, Tsuko-my-dear, because Tarim is one of my oldest OCs, and if I'm not mistaken, my oldest OC that I still use. I think... I'm pretty sure the only older OC that I have is Tranq (Shadow Tranquility is her full name, and I have no idea if she's ever coming back, I won't rule it out).
Tarim has been with me for over a decade, and I love him, and he deserves the world. He was the protagonist for Vocal Paradise, my very first NaNoWriMo novel in 2012. I won that year. I was so proud of myself. He came back for 2017 in Starlight ~ Beginning of the End, which I should reread because the only info I apparently put on NaNo itself was "tarim has to leave the vamps because shit blew up, naitofiara is there," so 10/10, me.
2018, Firstlight ~ The Cultist's Blade opened with "Tarim Nakoshima is dead, the Reihe having consumed him after a Fragment left him in the wrong timeline. [..] Thus, a new group of Twilight Warriors must be chosen." Three years later, Tarim makes his as-of-right-now final appearance in 2012 with Dragonsword ~ His Last Night's Requiem as not only the owner of the titular requiem, but "Not so long after the initial fall of Kagiru Network, two strange young men appear in the middle of the Salem Academy courtyard. One looks Tarathiel Draconis in the eye, tosses her the necklace he had around his neck, and fades to nothingness." which is a pretty metal way to die.
So, now that I've established Tarim's been around for fuckin ages and likes haunting the narrative, who is he?
Tarim is Maradeim! Originally called the Cherchant, which is French for 'searching', because when I was 12 I was learning French so a great deal of the language made it into my writing. The Maradeim are from Ilya Loremmi, the oldest of my original worlds (and very much still a part of the Aethel!), and specifically from the city-state of Isuparingu, which I think is a google-translated-romaji corruption of 'inspiration'? Anyway, they were birthed by the goddess Ivonnu, who's still around, in a fight with her sister Ikuto, who is also still around as Kharos' daughter and being pissy in the woods.
What makes the Maradeim different from ye average elf? Uh, they're grey? Yeah, I know, good question.
Maradeim have been established to be Pretty Rare, so you don't see 'em much outside Isuparingu, and almost never outside the Lorem as it is. Four of the Detan Burata - Zona, Seikyoru (who you may know better as Athena Cykes), Myn, and Rokichi - are Maradeim. To date, Tarim is the only named, non-DB Maradeim character I currently have. (There's two others in my records, Felix and Jaycinda, but I highly doubt they'll ever reappear. I would have to totally rework them, and changing names and designs for characters who didn't have more than that is just making new characters.)
Tarim has average brown hair, spearmint green eyes, gunmetal gray skin, and a jawline sharp enough to slice a man alive. He stands 5'9", would probably be called an otter if he were in a gay bar, and from what I can tell, is the Most Average Maradeim To Ever Maradeim.
He doesn't have parents. Why doesn't he have parents? Dunno. The very first iteration of Vocal Paradise was actually a story my first soulbond, Iban, told me about growing up in the desert. He was making shit up because he was babysitting his younger brother, but I still took it for inspiration. Eventually I moved Tarim to Ilya Ustuxe, I think in 2017 for Starlight, where he actually was an illegal immigrant, worked as a veterinarian for horrors that come out of the woods, and promptly had a super-gay romance with the king, Morcair Rakshara.
Tarim's role has always been that of Protagonist, when he appears; and if he does appear as the Mentor Who Dies, it's because of how his powers and prophecy have always worked.
The oldest prophecy I've ever written was the Prophecy of the Five Heroes, in various forms, and the kicker to it is that people have tried to fulfill it, and crucially, they failed. There's been three generations of Heroes: the first was the Bringers of Hope, the second was the Crafters of Balance, and the third is the Challengers of Fate.
The Bringers of Hope failed so badly that none of them have ever even appeared in any written works: the only thing left of them is their titles, and the fact that they failed. (I know their names, though, and their relationships with each other. Hehehe.) The Crafters of Balance was Tarim, Nyktophotia, Elrua, Akui, and Ikane; who were all actively written out of the narrative when their powers overwhelmed them. They still haunt the narrative. The Challengers of Fate are Tarathiel, Kinefira, Ezra, Saga, Tessa, and Leilahi.
You'll notice that there's six challengers, whereas only five of the other two. Really wonder why the first two groups failed, folks...
Regardless. Tarim is the OG Hero of Voices, and his main magical power is to command the three Alyvian spellsongs - the Reihe, Sterben, and Lautlos - and to reshape the world of travel, Ilya Serina, to his will. He begins using the Sterben, and eventually the Reihe, and only once uses the Lautlos. Contrary to Tarathiel, who primarily uses the Lautlos and sometimes the Sterben, and only uses the Reihe when she purifies her own heart.
Tarim has always been the protagonist, and his job is to be dragged through the Serin into varying parts of the wilderness of the Aethel by the plot, being pissy the entire time and befriending a bunch of animals, sometimes being dragged around by a girl who is supposed to be his love interest and who he doesn't give two shits about. The only person he's shown any romantic interest in was Morcair, who he died on very purposefully and who he kept a lot of secrets from. Morcair's pretty bitter about it, and helps out the Challengers only for Tarim's memory. Lmao.
You'll notice, though, that right up top I said that Tarim goes by Laqir. This is because while I knew from the start what his name was, he has never willingly given his name to another person in his entire fucking life. Seriously. If he weren't sorted under the Ts, I wouldn't have told you his name was Tarim. In my actual files where all his art is, he's listed under Laqir. When I make the wiki, he'll be listed under Laqir as well, and his actual name will only be in the sidebar.
When I write him, he always and only uses he/him pronouns, and only gets named in the narrative after someone asks him his name onscreen, and he has to give it. The first time he did in Starlight (because tbh I barely remember all the shit that happened in Vocal Paradise), it was to Morcair. Tarim panicked, glanced around outside the carriage they were in, saw a road sign for Laqir Lane, and told him his name was Laqir.
What fuckin name was he going by before the shattering of the Aethel? Gods only know. It sure fuckin' wasn't Tarim.
Why he has this issue, I have no idea. But he won't give you his name, just Laqir, and gods only know if Nakoshima is his actual surname either. Prob'ly not. I have no idea why he was orphaned in the desert. He got to Ilya Ustuxe by being a stowaway on a ship as a teenager and is Super Illegally There, but fuck you he's Laqir Nakoshima, consort to the King and Hero of Voices, no one is going to be asking for his passport.
The red/blue thing he's got is something he famously shares with Nyktophotia: that's actually an Alyvian thing, and they both have it through their use of the spellsongs. Tarathiel only does that when she's actively using her powers, and Kinefira simply refuses to use the spellsongs so she doesn't get to be special.
Tarim is a grumpy, generous guy honestly. Dislikes being personable, dislikes being dragged into shit, a very Bilbo-like character tbh? Genuinely very loving, absolutely atrocious at trusting people. Super reliable, though, and has an interest in chemistry.
Tarim is also the actual owner of the Kharosian stronghold on Ilya Kava, as well as a low mansion on a phantom island in Ilya Ustuxe. He stored most of his personal stuff in the Ustux, and most of his Hero stuff in the Kav. The Challengers use his stronghold in the Kav as their primary base of operations in the Aethel, since they don't reeeeaaally want to go to the Ustux and deal with Morcair's grief over Tarim, but Tarim himself is still haunting both of these places in what fragments of consciousness he's managed to plant in them, so he's all smug about that.
It'd be nice to go back and write a few stories for him, tbh. It's been a while, and most of the things he's done in Sagiverse sum up to angrily being written out of the narrative onscreen to pass the mantle to Tarathiel. We should go see what he was up to before that.
[send me a number between 2 and 787 for a few facts about that OC, please send me more these are super fun]
#asks#dorksmithery#it's laqiiiiiir my boy my boy my boy#fun fact: the oc directly above him is tarathiel!#i love answering asks about my writing and ocs and worldbuilding#seriously y'all can just ask about literally any of this#anything interesting i'll tell you all about it
