Yes I know it’s weak, but hey being a college student means being broke and using what you’ve got.
(Also just turned 21, you know how it goes)

I decided that I wanted to DIY my own clone trooper helmet, and this is the result!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The writing above the pubby (the lil pumpkin) is just his name in aurebesh, and the weird green script on the opposite side is an aurebesh translation of my signature (DS)
The helmet itself was printed by The Galactic Armory, but after that it was assembled, sanded, painted, weathered, and upholstered by me, and I plan on adding some entirely unnecessary electrical features because I cannot stop myself.
I'm talking a mic and speakers, ventilation fan, and possibly a Bluetooth headset if I can figure a way to make it work. I am ambitious

One Dress a Day Challenge
August: Fantasy & Sci-Fi
Star Wars: Andor (episode 7, "Announcement") / Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma
I had mixed feelings about the design work in this show overall, but I really liked Mon Mothma's costumes! This golden gown, which she wears for a party that she is hosting, is a particular standout. I love the asymmetrical cape/jacket, particularly the way it drapes in back; unfortunately, we only get a full-length back view in an out-of-focus shot. And the subtle texturing of the fabric on the main dress makes it look very luxurious.
The costume designer for this series was Michael Wilkinson. He commented: "She come from a wealthy family on Chandrila, but she is now stationed on Coruscant. The idea was to bring elements of clothing from her home. We came up with a set of colors and textures mostly drawn from other iterations of Mon Mothma. I really leaned into the pale neutral tones. I loved all of those slightly shimmery organic textures, hints of metals. But what I really was fascinated about for her costumes was the fact that she's playing a role. That sense of the public self, the private self."

Today is the day I realized the significance of Cassian's long, brown jacket worn in the Andor season finale. It's a blend of jackets worn by Maarva and Clem, but also has design elements unique to Cassian. This level of detail is one of the many reasons I adore this brilliant show. Bravo Michael Wilkinson 👏👏👏
The Andor family sure loves a brown duster 😍

Fun life update:
I’ve been saving up, while I’ve been searching for my own mandalorian outfit pieces; I’m so damn picky because I look at others + know what I just don’t want to look like. (Not in a bad way, but it’s helped guide me to what I do want)
anyway-
I got a cloak + I’m shaking! I’m so excited that I’m officially starting this. IM GONNA BE A MANDALORIAN

There was a post talking about how disappointing Disney+ Star Wars costumes have been..
and I keep thinking about it because when you look back at older tv shows (not just star wars, but basically anything before streaming really took over) and the effort that used to be put into production
you can really see how worth it that effort was! And I just miss it so much!
Like I literally do not care how bad the cgi looks as long as there was effort and care put into what was made.
This is coming from the fact that I am rewatching Once Upon A Time...
and even though OUAT's digital effects are kinda awful endearingly shitty, anything that was practical or real was GORGEOUS!
I’ve never seen costumes as consistently beautiful and detailed and unique as they were on this show Every! Single! Episode!
The makeup was always amazing. The hair was amazing. And the props were sick! (Even the green screen castles and stuff's designs were beautiful)
I just miss when tv shows put this much effort into their production
When they let artists! be ARTISTS! and actually appreciated them! Instead of just underpaying and overworking them for the bare minimum results
When you can look at stuff like OUAT and the star wars prequels, it just makes the recent stuff so much more disappointing

I’ve always loved analysing the costumes in Star Wars and I keep coming back to the similarities between the Naboo Queen’s battle dress and Jedi robes. Particularly the battle dress Sabé wears and the silhouette of Anakin’s robes in particular. The structure of the shoulders, the belt, the neckline… I just keep coming back to it and wish we saw Padmé wearing this dress in the phantom menace (although the expanded canon confirms she did wear it on occasion throughout her reign)
