Andor is the 21st century answer to Blake's 7: a scrappy group of rebels and criminals goes up against a well-resourced empire whose leaders dress fabulously. There are craggy-faced character actors, sharp dialogue, and no shortage of quarries.

The Expanse is the 21st century answer to Babylon 5: our heroes face galactic forces that are almost beyond their comprehension, but they still need to deal with equipment maintenance, geopolitical squabbles, and making ends meet. There are grubby space stations with dodgy food, and no one's getting quite enough sleep.

Doctor Who is the 21st century answer to Doctor Who.

I cannot believe that Andor exists.

If you like Star Wars; if you don't like Star Wars; if you've watched every star war or none; you should watch this show.

Its message is timely, relevant and poignant. It's not pulling its punches literally at all when it talks about the rise of fascism, police brutality, the prison industrial system, and what it takes to resist authoritarianism. It's not all storm troopers and laser guns, it's cops in riot gear tasing and shooting civilians. And regular people figuring out that they can't keep ignoring what's going on; they have to do something.

It's also extremely engaging if you like political dramas at all (or heists or prison breaks or whatever).

Plus it's got Diego Luna's big doe eyes.

Reblogging to express my repeated and genuine faith that Syril is eventually heading for a redemption arc and that it will feel right and it will feel earned. He will get worse before this, but he will ultimately get redemption. I will of course find a nice tough hat to eat if this does not come to pass, but I think there are lots of indications that this is where he’s heading. Syril Karn redemption truthers - ye shall be vindicated! 😊 

while i have an unmatched level of faith in the andor team and trust them with any plot development no matter how "out there", i really do hope s2 doesn't have any sort of defect/rebel/“redemption” turn for syril. one of the great joys watching andor live was seeing ppl empathize with and babygirlify this guy instantly, then get hit with week after week of "He Is The Biggest Loser Fascist You'll Ever Meet" . am still riding that high . like they were editing him to folklore taylor swift . just bc he was somewhat meek and had blue eyes . i need him to become a bigger fascist in s2 if anything
