crazy to remember "tell him...i love him more than anything he could ever do wrong" was in the same episode as "oppression is the mask of fear", which was in the same episode as “the empire is a disease that thrives in darkness, it is never more alive than when we sleep." three showstopping monologues in the same episode. none being THE monologue you'd associate with the show, with THEE monologue being a toss-up between two other show-stoppers two episodes prior. we should let the andor writers punt that baby yoda prop into the moon

they introduce cassian andor and it’s like this man has a missing sister, a dead planet, and the biggest saddest brown eyes you’ve ever seen. he’s killed two guys sort of by accident but this is also kinda par the course for him. everyone in his town kinda loves him and kinda wants to shake him down for coins. he treats his droid like a person. he’s a mommas boy and a terrible boyfriend. some guy halfway across the galaxy is dying to meet him. and it’s like cool that is my best friend i would protect him with my life hope nothing terrible happens to him in the ensuing months of his life.

All the intelligence and surveillance and weapons but neither of them take into account that it’s not just One Guy At The Center who’s the problem for them, it’s the guy who works in the kitchens at the Villa Grimaldi who lets a partisan go because “I’m sorry your mom died” and it’s the middle-aged women community organizers and the workers in a town where everyone hangs up their gloves in plain view because they know no one will steal what’s not theirs. God-tier television.

The Andor finale played out gorgeously. I love the way both the ISB and Luthen’s intelligence cell were caught completely flat-footed by the uprising on Ferrix. It really called back to Luthen’s speech about being forced to use the tools of the enemy to defeat them: he may have predicted the Empire’s actions and motivations with 100% accuracy, but he ended up having the same blind spots.

Both groups thought they were in for a game of cat and mouse over Cassian Andor. Both were wrong for the same reason: the little people, the ones they’d written off as predictable puppets, were ready to take matters into their own hands.

This entire episode hammered home the idea of community as the most powerful weapon against oppression. Cassian could walk through people’s backyards, sewers, and kitchens to operate much more effectively than any spy, and Maarva’s speech speaks for itself. Her audience floods the streets; the fact that neither group caught wind of this level of turnout and organization in advance puts them to shame.
