Always picks exercises that meet your goals or help you to further hit your goals. If your goal is to get better at the #squat, pick exercises that MIMIC it as much as possible. One of my favorite #squatvariations is the #gobletsquat. Some benefits of the Goblet Squat include extra core work, as you're expected to #braceyourcore, just like you would with the barbell variation itself. Using dumbbells, regardless of what #reprange you utilize, forces your body to stabilize itself. Think holding up a heavy dumbbell in front of your chest is easy the first few times around? Also, with extra stability comes extra tension, as dumbbell exercises are more known as muscle builders than barbells. Position yourself the way you would in a barbell squat with your feet shoulder width apart, #scapula retracted and your head NEUTRAL. Pause at the bottom of your last rep for a good two or more seconds for extra #timeundertension. The added eccentricity WILL increase the size of those #quads! Here's 70x5x5. When specifically improving your performance on the #big3, chose #accesorywork that MIMICS those moves. Specificity. And it doesn't have to be one or two specific exercises either before some shithead tries to tell me what's "best". Fuck that and you. My favorite squat variation during the summer was the Landmine Squat! You can load on weight, and not have to worry about aggravating healing injuries. After having Arlen my pre existing hip injury came back, worse. My love for lifting had to take a back seat, so that I could HEAL myself first. This variation allowed me to go DEEPER into my squat, and build strength. CHECK OUT MY IGTV FOR VIDEO • ¡Mi variación de sentadilla favorita durante el verano fue la Sentadilla de Mina Terrestre! Hello and I hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July! Here's a quick #trainertip brought to you by yours truly. I began incorporating the #pausesquat into my #squat warmups two weeks ago and I recommend you do the same. Pause Squats just what they sound like: descend to the bottom and hold for at least two seconds. Do them because holding the bottom position increases #timeundertension, stimulating the quads, therefore acting as a catalyst for further growth. Do them because the increased TUT improves the #concentric portion of the squat - the explosiveness. Do them because your chest will be forced to lead in the ascension from the bottom as you explode up, followed by your #hips. This obviously is a blatant reinforcement of #movementpatterns. Here's 185 paused at the bottom. It's 75% of yesterday's desired weight of 265. I was reading #stevenpressfield ‘s book #dothework and in it he mentions that in the beginning stages too much research leads to overthinking - he challenges you to only read 3 books on a topic before getting started . Any more than 3 and in my personal experience {esp in the #healthandfitness area } you end up like that Justin Bieber meme - what do you meme? 🤨- about allllll the info you’re getting thrown at ya . It’s best to just hit the pavement . You know how to run - how to do a basic bodyweight squat - Ima go as far as to say you even know how to #burpee 🤫- it’s okay the burpee secret is safe w me 🤛. . You’ve probably read so much stuff on movement you feel a little paralyzed- and you’ve thought about it for so long you’ve talked yourself out and then back in and then out again of movin day bod girl .
