Reminder that seeing yourself/relating your experiences through characters with headcanons is valid.
Kind of out of no where but i saw a post that is just one of many people echoing this attitude i see online…it’s bothering me and i have to get it out of my system, it’s perfectly valid to have headcanons on a characters gender orientation, sexual orientation, culture, religion, etc. don’t feel invalid or stupid for seeing yourself in a character. representation doesn’t have to be a one-to-one replica for it to be valid.
i hate when people on the internet see headcanons and feel the need to tear people down over it, or invalidate why that person relates to the character in the way they do.
not everyone relates in the same way and that’s okay and normal…
but that doesn’t mean you should feel the need to invalidate other people. it might sound like it’s not that deep but representation means so much to those of us in underrepresented communities! Headcanons? not that deep. but it might mean something special to someone else (or maybe it’s not even that deep which for the record is also entirely valid???) so i really don’t see the point in making it a big deal.
i appreciate media analysis but when it’s done in a way that disrespects people for the harmless, and honestly valid headcanons people have, that’s pretty off-putting and frustrating. (especially using other peoples harmless art and posts to prove a point? that’s mad disrespectful.)
we all have different experiences and different things we relate to and that’s beautiful, can we stop putting people down?
can we stop invalidating people for relating to a characters experience? can we stop scoffing at creators when they show support to the communities that are invested in and around their work? that’s an amazing thing that should be encouraged, that’s what builds strong communities and helps makes people feel welcomed, safe. if it sounds stupid, it probably doesn’t apply to you.
and honestly it doesn’t matter if it applies to you or not, it means a lot to someone else and that makes it valid.

One of the biggest things that makes me see Leo as trans is absolutely the size of his carapace in comparison to his brothers’.
And I’m not talking about height! I’m specifically looking at his shell here, because when you compare him to the others, particularly Donnie who is nearly the same height as Leo, it’s very clear that Leo’s carapace is much longer in proportion to the rest of his body.
Like - standing side by side, even though Donnie is shorter his carapace ends noticeably higher up than Leo’s does. And I like this not only because it really helps push the idea that Leo could very likely be trans (or intersex!), but it’s also just a fun design difference between them.
(It also lends way to future scenarios of Donnie eventually getting taller than Leo, but sitting down still has Leo being the taller one haha.)
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt leo#trans leonardo#rottmnt headcanons#rise leo#trans leo#it’s like 4 am and I’m having trans leo feelings again sorry guys#totally get if other people disagree with me on this! but it’s always gonna be my no.1 headcanon fr#his complexion the vibrancy of his colors staying even in adulthood his general demeanor and this? this hc is LOCKED in my brain#plus the times Leo’s depicted in pink white and blue throughout the series like I KNOW it wasn’t on purpose but damn if it doesn’t help#(his nails are also the exact same as his toe nails/claws but I don’t super count this one tbh)#(even though it is TECHNICALLY another point in favor of trans leo)#(mainly because all the boys’ nails are very much more humanoid than turtle)#(just like how their tails aren’t really a factor either since we see them only in their baby forms and never again)#I really like the idea that he was a female red eared slider pre mutation#and Lou Jitsu’s dna paved how his humanoid features came out (aka a more masculine build and voice)#but his turtle features are all very much more in like with a female res#love the thought of rise bros meeting og comic turtle boys and Leo being like wait you guys are res too?? but…you’re not colorful……#one headcanon I have is that - you know the cute chirping and stuff we have the boys do?#I like to think that Leo’s chirping actually sounds more feminine to himself and his bros (so he tends to not do it)#idk I love thinking about this hc a lot and there’s no time like four am to talk about it huh?#future scenario has future Donnie going up to future Leo all smug like ah Nardo how’s the weather down there#and Leo’s all like good *sits down* why don’t you join me :)#Donnie: …*sits and stretches his neck out to be taller still*#Leo calls him a cheater but Donnie calls it ‘making use of his species’s advantages’#but yeah basically for many turtles the case is - bigger carapace? female. smaller carapace? male.#so it’s very interesting to take that knowledge and apply it here#did you know one of the turtles that this rule of thumb DOESNT apply to is alligator snapping turtles? male ones are the bigger ones there!#by a big difference too so Raph’s size makes a LOT of sense

I was telling my little sister about Gertrude Robinson the other day and she said something that kind of made my brain explode. I was explaining all of the terrible things that Gertrude did in the name of saving the world and how, on the opposite side, Jon avoided doing a lot of terrible things but ended up dooming the world anyways. She responded with the classic, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
And idk it just really struck me. Bc, between Jon and Gertrude, which of them had better intentions? Which one of them ended up in hell?? Crazy crazy crazy to me bc I’m pretty sure it could apply equally to both of them.

weird question for my Jewish followers
just asking bc the epigenetics of the Jewish people are fucked, and it’d be interesting to see if this effects people way deeper than normal.

Even if Agamemnon didn’t rape Cassandra, he still killed her friends and family (or helped kill her friends and family) and destroyed her home.

i havent talked about how awesome scott’s star symbol is yet on here have I. Despite being assigned based on really flimsy reasoning iirc I’d argue it’s the most fitting possible choice for him I really couldn’t be happier with it

Every time I make a post about improving relationships, I also inevitably get the comments about how “yeah but sometimes people don’t want to be your friends and you should let them go”. And yes? That’s true.
But my posts are from a specific point of view of someone who has been insecure and sabotaged my relationships in the past.
Not all posts will be relevant to your situation and I can’t cover every single possibility in my posts.

SHIPPING RPF IS ACTUALLY OK!
Here are my thoughts on this:
1) the F in RPF stands for FICTION
So guess what? Every biopic you have watched? RPF. Every book you have read about people that have existed? RPF. As longs as it’s to some degree “based on real story/people”, yup, you guessed it! RPF
2) it's nobody's fucking business what you ship
As long as you don't bug the 'real people' of the ship about it, you are good!
Hope this helps! 👍

When people say there’s no evidence of queer-coding for Mike in s1… as if this isn’t the most epic example of queer-coding in the history of television:

lesson I wish I could pass on to others because it is so painful and not especially necessary to experience this yourself: if you are the one special person in a someone’s life, and this is someone who does not keep anyone else around because other people are too wrong in whatever way, but you’re kept as a friend because you are really patient or kind or “just get it”. and you stand by this person as they cut people off over basic human communication errors, and you’re reassured you’re the special chosen friend. and they promise you’re really the best friend, and they tell you it’s so helpful and so good for them to have you because you’re different then them, more patient, maybe quieter. this will end badly. that friend’s actions? they are demonstrations of how they will treat you when they decide your differences are errors that harm them instead of gifts that support them. and I bet there are ways that you are moving in that relationship that is people pleasing to prevent them turning this behavior on you. and you can love them! oh boy you can love them. but ultimately, you’re giving your heart to someone who’s telling you plainly they will break it. your specialness will become something they wield against you. and I’d never shame you for still standing by your (likely) traumatized friend who does this. but you gotta believe their actions, not their words. you gotta protect your heart.

You ever think about how whenever you hit a female character with the “buff, smartass, takes no shit, is never vulnerable” gun you might accidentally be reinventing the “tough guys don’t cry” mentality which is part of the reason why men have shorter lifespans than women.
Being vulnerable isn’t inherently female but you’re hating it for misogynistic reasons anyways and it helps no one on the gender spectrum.

Some people claiming that the Monaco race wasn’t boring really surprises me when nothing happened during the race and it was easily one of the most boring race I’ve watched those last years.
4 overtakes in total, a lot of things happening in lap1 out of SEVENTY EIGHT where barely anything happened in the rest of it, the red flag killed all the strategy for the tyres, f1 cars driving at the pace of f2 qualifying laps, the top ten did not move the slightest … but you’re unwell if you were falling asleep in front of that?
Admitting a race is boring doesn’t mean you take anything away from the person who won it. Here, the victory of Charles was beautiful, emotional, especially considering everything that surrounds it.
But that doesn’t mean the race in itself was interesting. If Max had won it you all would have been the first to claim that it was the most boring race in a decade.
A race doesn’t have to be intense or interesting for its results to be meaningful. A victory will always be a victory.
