I know it migth be a question you've already answered, but what was your inspiration for this series the and such cool and interesting characters ( note, I've known your work for a little while and really liked it).

A lot of things contributed to where my story is today. The first influence I received on minigiants and hunters was a Supernatural Fanfic RP story done by VoraciousPanda and Goldfox20 on Deviantart. VoraciousPanda made a really interesting adaption of minigiants based in the Supernatural universe and I thought that was really cool and fitting for the world of SPN. For a couple years, it was just in the back of my mind, but I didn’t really consider making my own content because I was self-conscious about writing something in such a niche category.

I later joined my first vore servers as a sheltered early adult who had never met anyone outside of my childhood homeschooled bubble and I was met by a very accepting community who celebrated our weird interests, and I didn’t have to feel ashamed or awkward about it. I got into some RPs there, where I created Eli as an RP character, loving the concept of a minigiant in a supernatural-style world.

(I will note that VoraciousPanda’s minigiant character is VERY different from Eli and he’s just a sweet cinnamon roll, while Eli is an asshole. It was mainly the SPN-style world and idea of giants that was part of my inspiration. Our minigiant species is very different as well)

I felt more prey-leaning, so I wanted to try an RP where Eli was trapped in his smaller form and was eaten by another giant and got a taste of his own medicine. In the introductory post of the RP, Eli had pinned down a hunter before the hunter had managed to use an alchemical concoction to trap Eli in his smaller from. This was just the set up for an RP that I had included in a single post, but I eventually grew to love writing Eli more and I wrote a follow-up story that was meant to take place after the RP, where Eli returns to the hunter and demands a cure for his shrunken form. Trapped in Sheep’s Clothing was born in novel format. It remained a non-illustrated story for a while where I began to develop the lore more and add onto the story over time.

Around the same time, I had been reading Lemondeer’s Down the Hatch comic and I admired how Lemondeer managed to build such a massive amount of support for writing a vore comic, and I realized that it might be possible for me to do the same. Eventually I decided to try it out and just illustrated the first four pages of the comic, not expecting to go anywhere with it. Surprisingly, those first few pages were received well enough for me to decide to continue. I wasn’t fully convinced I would ever finish the comic, but as the support grew for the comic, I just continued making it, leading to where we are today. This is my first ever comic and I’ve created about 140 pages now, 122 of which have now been released and I couldn’t be more grateful for all of the support that helped me along the way. It literally would not have happened if it weren’t for y’all.

Is there anything else we should know about Lilian (Lilith) in your Stargazers AU? Such as: What was she like as a mother? Why do you think she had postpartum depression? What was her postpartum depression like? How was her relationship with Lucius (Lucifer) like before they divorced? What does she think of Lucius (Lucifer) and Charlie now?

All really amazing questions that I wonder why people don't ask more often XD But rest assured, EVERYTHING you ask about got answers to them! I kid you not when I say this AU is jam packed in lore! With hints of future story arcs sprinkled through almost every related post as all major characters WILL have their chance at development (whether they want it or not). Unfortunately, due to plot reasons, I can't answer most of these questions YET. But I can tell you they were very much drawn to each other when Lucius and Lilian first started going out and she still keeps in touch with the father and daughter dynamic duo! Even if getting a hold of her now is quite difficult. In any case, I'm grateful for your interest and I apologize for the long wait! I had my first owned art booth experience and it coincided with Midterms. Their relationships have changed since childhood, running through extremes and attitudes but ultimately focusing on a common goal and set of routines. Adding to it, there isn't exactly anyone else older who could be there for them in the long run, so for better or worse all issues are build on or/and resolved between them. In the end.. it's not like they have anywhere else to go, and they don't exactly want to be alone in the void. They stick together, even if some are gone for periods of time

(But I'm glad you enjoy the things I draw! It always makes me happy to see you pop up in my notes and see your interpretation of the celestial critters:P have a cool daynight too!)

About the colors of the cloaks when they were kids, in some previous comics they shared the same teal cyan hue as an indication of being part of the group. Buuut, they already have affiliation indicated by the shadow face ornament.. and keeping the same colours made it difficult to distinguish them. Soo, this is one instance where I need to backtrack a design choice. Not counting in the more casual clothes besides robes that apear in comics too

Duke’s early vigilante days are so funny, because whenever he interacts with a criminal Batman is behind him staring the criminal down like “you better be fucking intimidated by my precious little boy”

I also believe that this happens whenever Hal and Duke interact because anyone who has met Duke can see he qualifies for a ring and Bruce does not want to have to share custody with the Lanterns

Duke is extremely lucky he's not in a reverse Robin au because if he had to be one of the first heros after Batman?? In those colors??? He would get laughed at, thankfully two-ish decades of Robin has trained crooks to be Very Scared of people in bright colors next to the bat and Duke is all together, one of the gentler robins ever (his anger is very focused, he doesn't have a lot of the General Anger that is symptomatic of being age 10-15, he's angry of course, who isn't, but idk I think because of his background and personality he is smart enough to focus it productively)

Bruce and Hal beefing over Duke is a Favorite headcanon for me, everything after his metahuman bar mitzvah is, can be, and Should be a clusterfuck

Hal and Bruce are like a divorced couple with Duke they're throwing money (Bruce) and experiences (mostly Hal) at him (like any of this really makes up for Duke not having his actual parents ;-;)

What are Clark & Bruce's love languages for each other?

I think Bruce's would be acts of service and gifts. He's a fixer, and he'll jump at any opportunity to help others, specially those he loves. Thing is, he's also a bit controlling (understatement of the century), so he'll most likely do these acts of service without asking first (same with the gifts), and I can imagine that, at least in the beginning, it'll bother Clark. But he'll eventually get that that's how Bruce shows he loves him, and he'll make a point to ask him to not intervene whenever he deems necessary.

I can also imagine a situation where Clark tells him he doesn't like expensive gifts, so Bruce's solution is to make his gifts more personalized and meaningful. Bruce would give Clark the most earth-shattering sweet gift, like something he made with his own hands and worked on for months, and he would just shrug and say "it's nothing, I just thought you would like it" while Clark is on the verge of tears.

Clark's love languages would be words of affirmation and quality time. It's canon that he doesn't shy away from telling it to Bruce how it is (more often than not, that means calling him on his bullshit), and I don't think it would be any different when it comes to telling him directly how much he cares for him and showing his affection with words. Of course, Bruce would short-circuit for a second, but he'll get used to it. I also like to think that Clark would try to make time to be with Bruce as often as he could. He would visit him at the cave and accompany him while he works, or drop by during patrol just to say hi.

I definitely did not! I don't normally allow myself to just start spur of the moment saves. When I get attached to my sims, I try to stick with their save for as long as I can and normally feel a bit guilty moving on to something else.

I'm so glad that I followed the inspiration to start Earth Angel though! Everything was just: "What if I make a cute little retro alien?" "Well, there's an alien themed challenge I can try out with her - it can be real casual!" And then Johnny, Ophelia and Ripp entered the picture and it was all over from there 😆

I am so attached to this family and I have so much fun playing and writing up posts! In game, I'm almost at Gen 2 already - not something I was planning to ever happen but I've got rules written up for and everything! Ah... I should've known one day this question would come for me xD Yeah, I've seen lots of art and headcanons where Tails outgrows Sonic. I don't actually see the reverse nearly as often... I've seen a couple people talk about it, but I don't think it's as widespread a take.

Both have their merits! There's a lot you can do design-wise or storytelling-wise with both headcanons!

That being said... personally I headcanon that Sonic stays taller. For me, it mainly comes down to me not really vibing with the "taller younger sibling" trope in other media and fandoms in general. I think it works in some cases, sure! But I feel like I see it so much for every sib set, I'm just kinda tired of it. Plus, as an oldest sibling who got to stay the tallest, I'm happy to give Sonic the same privilege xD I don't give him much, I can give him that, lol.

I don't think it ends up being a huge height difference though, maybe Tails ends up at 3'4" and Sonic at 3'6" or something like that. And I don't necessarily think it's because of childhood malnutrition on Tails's part that he stays shorter, though that is a compelling reason for it! I just think mobian height isn't dependent on species and that Sonic always had a chance of remaining taller. Someone does need to make sure Tails eats though. I think even with a fully stocked fridge, this kid will work right through meals. Maybe that is why he's shorter xD

I can also see why people think Tails will be taller though! Given that he's already fairly close in height to Sonic (2'6" to Sonic's 3'3"), plus the fact that he's taller than Classic Sonic, too, it makes sense that he'd wind up as being the taller of the two eventually. And long, lanky Tails designs can look really cool!

But taller big bro Sonic is just where I stand. I don't think I'll ever get far enough in my fics where Tails would be old enough to overtake Sonic anyway, so it won't really be relevant, but I'm happy to share my personal thoughts on it! Thanks for asking!

Every time someone asks me this I feel more like I'm making a Real Adaptation! I love the idea of people following this webcomic for years while analyzing the gay subtext as if they're waiting to see if Supernatural will make Destiel canon. a powerful feeling. The short answer is yes! The long answer is that it's complicated, and that if you're not a Bilbo/Thorin Person you should still stick around because I'm going to handle it in a very funky way that is not what you're expecting (also at the rate I draw, it won't be "canon" in the comic for approximately 2039482289798334534534534534 years.) Generally Thorin's role in my version of the story is that he's a living embodiment of The Quest, and Bilbo's feelings for Thorin mirror his feelings for the Adventure. When Thorin first arrives at Bag End, Bilbo is overwhelmed and annoyed and confused-- he finds him both fascinating and horribly frustrating at turns, and has no idea how to feel about Thorin in the same way he has no idea whether he'll join the adventure. As the story continues, Bilbo's feelings on the Quest will shift, and his feelings about Thorin will shift as well. I just really love the general idea of a new take on Thorin where he has a bit more pathos and a deeper relationship with Bilbo. I also think the way LOTR retroactively reframes The Hobbit as a story written by 'unreliable narrator Bilbo Baggins' adds to the possibilities a lot! there's a lot of queer subtext in Lord of the Rings, and it's fun to bring more of that subtext into the Hobbit. Tolkien often refers to hobbit adventures as "queerness,' and makes "queerness" the name for the thing that bigoted hobbits are afraid of; the fact that Bilbo has been repressing the "queer" part of himself that he inherited from his mother is, canonically, the thing he's struggling with in the beginning of the story.

I really enjoy the bit in the Unfinished Tales where Gandalf describes Bilbo like this:

And now I found that he was 'unattached' - to jump on again for of course I did not know all this until I went back to the Shire. I learned that he had never married. I thought that odd though I guessed why it was; and the reason that I guessed was not that most of the Hobbits gave me: that he had early been left very well off and his own master. No, I guessed that he wanted to remain 'unattached' for some reason deep down which he did not understand himself - or would not acknowledge, for it alarmed him.

That feeling of not being "out to yourself" and not knowing what it is that you want out of life is just!!! It's just very compelling to me.

Thorin's still gonna die though. Don't you hate it when you have this whole elaborate coming-out-to-yourself story but then your first gay crush is so Problematic he kiiiinda nearly starts a war so you betray him by stealing the Heart of his Mountain in order to prevent that war, but then the war happens anyway and he dies horribly :/. A universal gay experience.

Thorin is also an interesting character to play with, especially because I'm diverging more from the book (compared to Bilbo or Gandalf.) The way I'm planning to handle him is that he's a character we see only "from the outside," from the perspective of other characters, and no character sees every side of him. The dwarves portray him as a noble king; the elves portray him as a haughty arrogant joke, to the point where it affects Tolkien's own "translation" of the story; Bilbo has his own complicated feelings about Thorin, but even his portrayal of Thorin is heavily biased and he never gets to see the full picture.

But yeah-- the Hobbit is originally a very lighthearted story, but I do think there are lot of darker and deeper emotions you could explore in it if you wanted to, particularly if you bring in the metatext of how it's reframed in Lord of the Rings. And I do want to explore those darker emotions! So I am XD. There already was an extremely book-accurate comic adaptation of the Hobbit that came out in the late nineties (though it's super short and the pages are cramped to fit in all the prose)-- so I don't really see the point of being obsessively close to the original novel, since an obsessively close comic adaptation already exists. This comic is for the Weird Queer Overly Emotional Metatextual Reframing of The Hobbit!! Anyway, it's fun.

I have a question about the Anne-Marie fic

Does she know that hyde and jekyll are the same person aka does she know that hyde is also her father?

Ah, someone has finally asked the question I’ve been dying to answer. Sorry if I’m about to ramble-dump on here 🤣

Long story short, yes. She knows Hyde and Jekyll are the same person. Well, I say she knows it’s more of a she figured it out 2 months before Jasper came into the picture.

The longer version is this; Anne-Marie — once she got over her shock of suddenly seeing a man she never met in her home — pretty quickly clocked onto the fact that Hyde looked familiar. This was before she lost her sight, by the way. Like she noticed he looked similar to her father. Hyde, realizing that she could easily figure out the connection between him and Jekyll, immediately began to avoid her after that. For that first year, Hyde was able to avoid her like he avoided Lanyon and Anne-Marie was left to stew with the fact her father’s new assistant looked similar to him.

Then the Chemical Accident came around and Hyde, out of concern and guilt, decided to check on Anne-Marie while she was recovering.

Now, for a long time, Anne-Marie didn’t think much of Hyde. To her, he was her father’s awfully brash assistant who kept getting her angry by calling her Annie, something only her father was allowed to do. In fact, a lot of the early days of Hyde-Hunting was Anne-Marie genuinely being angry at him for calling her Annie.

But as the days went on, Anne-Marie began to notice things.

Like how Hyde would always place her back in her room once she’s tired out from chasing him. How he would sometimes slip into a Scottish accent if she surprised hit him. Or how when he does call her Annie, it’s more of him not thinking twice about it and not actually to antagonize her.

For a good while, Anne-Marie thought Hyde was like a long-lost relative of her father’s because of her memory him closely resembling her father. It’s why she was super against the rumors of the two sleeping together, even though Hyde tries to play it off like that. But then she started to notice other things…

Stuff like how Hyde would talk to himself, like he’s talking to her father when he’s not in the room. How her father would do the same even though Hyde is also not in the room. How at one point, when Anne-Marie slammed a piano lid onto Hyde’s hand and injuring him, her father had the same injury when she touched his bandaged hand.

But the biggest thing that confirmed it for her? It was when she took her glasses off with him the room.

Hyde had a meltdown. He begged, pleaded, screamed at her to put her glasses back on. Anne-Marie, not used to hearing Hyde like that, immediately put her glasses back on. Hyde took a few minutes to calm down. Then he moved on like nothing had happened.

But Anne-Marie didn’t move on. She realized that Hyde didn’t want to see her scars. Even when she commented on this, Hyde’s careless words finally hit her.

“Well, it’s not my fault you stood close to a sizzling potion made by sham of a scientist who didn’t sleep properly that day.”

How did Hyde knew that? The story she told everyone was that she was alone in her father’s lab, how she became curious with his things and started to mess around. That’s what cause the explosion, according to Anne-Marie.

How did Hyde knew the truth? There was no way her father would tell someone like his bad-mouthed assistant.

Then, it clicked for her. Hyde was her father, in some way. Hadn’t her father talked about splitting souls at some point? And looking back on it now, of course Hyde’s very bad impression of a theater villain would be her father’s idea of evil.

Anne-Marie figured it out. But she never told Jekyll and Hyde that she figured it out. Since the two kept the secret, then Anne-Marie figured she could keep it as well.

Anne-Marie knew. But Jekyll and Hyde don’t realize that she knows.

It was a normal day in Hell. Demons were just living their lives like they normally do. However, the air suddenly became deathly still and demons stopped in their tracks when they felt a dark, foreboding aura approach. A figure walked by, each step the figure made little to no sound. No demon dared moved as the figure moved. Soon the figure arrived at the doors of the newly rebuilt Hazbin Hotel and gave the door a knock.

Lucifer stops whatever he was doing at the knock. Charlie isn't present nor available right this moment, and neither is Alastor, so...

Guess that leaves the task of answering the door up to him.

When he opens the door, revealing a tall man, very human-like in appearance. He actually recognizes him, vaguely - an overlord. Which is honestly saying something, because Lucifer actually doesn't know many (any?) of the current overlords.

"Well. Good afternoon."

Lucifer's guard is up, pretty much from the get-go. Someone such as... this fellow (he doesn't know his name, just bits and pieces of reputation here and there), is a bit of a different matter showing up here, than say... just some random Sinner.

And he gets the sense that there's more than meets the eye, here.

But there's no reason to be rude. Overlords serve an important function in Hell's society.

And, Lucifer doesn't yet know of the reason for this visit.

"May I ask what brings you to the Hazbin Hotel this day?"

My sibling, who is an anime only said they would not be surprised if BKDK became canon considering the depth of their relationship, their interactions, and their character development regarding each other ... despite how Bones added in Izuocha scenes and cut out some critical BKDK moments in most of the seasons so far... And, seeing how one-sided the "love" is between Izuocha, which I believe is deep admiration as of reading the manga- I have to say I agree.

Izuocha, is fine on the surface but is unhealthy. Izuku would not pay attention to Ochaco they he would need to if they were in a relationship. And Ochaco only saw "Hero Deku" rather than all of "Izuku", which would cause her to unknowingly encourage Izuku's reckless self-sacrificial behavior.

BKDK is different because not only they know each other beyond the surface level, but they also have their sights on each other and the mere presence of their partner inspires them to become better and stronger people at heart because they have genuine love for each other...

I honestly do not understand what is in the Dudebros' mind other the fact that they are lacking emotional intelligence and critical thinking... but I will just enjoy what they are missing. (Sorry for rambling...)

Hi anon! Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you (reason in tags). Let me just reply to your ramblings with some ramblings of my own :)

I actually really enjoyed Season 6. The only thing I faulted Bones for, was creating that jarring opening that made out like Ochaco was the hero of the retrieve vigilante Deku mission (which sadly only fueled izuochas more on mhatwt), when it was 1000% Katsuki's doing and there is one panel which proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

See this? Who is the one standing in front of Shoto and Tokoyami, addressing the whole class? It's Katsuki! Not Ochaco! She was seated with everyone else. This is why it's so frustrating when they say she was the reason Izuku was brought back to U.A. That arc was all about Katsuki's feelings for Izuku and wanting to return his smile.

He was even so worried he lost sleep over it, wondering where Izuku was, if he was okay… he must have stayed awake in bed, thinking and thinking about Izuku and how he could get him back. Katsuki was used to Izuku being by his side, and it was the first time Izuku had willingly left it. It provided him clarity about how important* Izuku was in his life, which only made him worry even more. (*see also: crucial, vital, imperative, watch me emotionally die slowly inside if you aren't around me anymore.)

Katsuki losing sleep, at a time Izuku was not sleeping was such a symbiotic soul mates power move Hori added in for flavour. I love it SOOO freaking much. There are no lengths this man won't go, to prove how in sync they are with each other, how much they need each other, the empathy they share with each other, even on a completely spiritual level where they share in each other's sufferings, *without even knowing it* such as right here, just like Katsuki wants to share all of Izuku's burdens so that he's not crushed by them.

But with that said, though Bones really dropped the ball on the opening (and 5 previous seasons...*ahem*), there were a lot of curious changes that happened in season 6 that I did love, like Izuku dropping the "tachi" in his sentence which turned his line into "He hurt the person I love…" (instead of people)

and as we saw more of these additional changes Bones made, it got us wondering, did Hori have some regrets with the manga that he was unhappy about and wanted their romance to be more obvious? Was it only natural to get anime viewers up to speed before season 7, because they were going to find out through manga spoilers that Katsuki and Izuku are actually in love? I'd like to think so.

Changes I remember off the top of my head:

Reaching out for little Izuku's hand during Katsuki Bakugou Rising

Katsuki waking up and thinking "Deku…" and remembering his Rising sacrifice and being still hurt from it.

Izuku waiting until he was in Katsuki's arms before he apologised, which made their words of "I'm sorry" and "I know" more intimate and personal to each other. Like Izuku needed Katsuki's forgiveness the most, and Katsuki needed to let Izuku feel that he understands him the most.

Izuku's little "Ka-..." (the English dub did not catch it but I know other dubs did) as he was passing out, which made the entire hug scene feel so much more romantic.

"I'm gonna say your name when I wake up" vs "I'm gonna say your name when I fall asleep." BkDk: Always on each other's minds. All the time.

And one of the most interesting changes of all…

So get this, Ochaco gets a hand hold grab in the opening which canon-wise holds about as much weight as an "illustration" … and in the actual anime content, she grabs his wrist area instead of his hand like in the manga. And then, about the "brothers" "friends" comments antis love to make about bkdk. Well yeah, they're coping. In fact, Hori has shied away from labeling them friends several times when he could have! "Midoriya-kun is our friend" says Iida - with multiple people from the class, including Ochaco, presented in the panel… and Katsuki is nowhere to be found.

Or like when sAFO called Katsuki "Izuku's closest person" (motto mo naka ga ii) where it would have been WAY more natural to call him "shinyu," aka, "best friend." But that's the thing, Hori runs away from calling them friends like it's the plague LMAO

Really makes you wonder… was sAFO (I'd rather just call it AFO at this point because it's his personality being dominant vs Katsuki) alluding to hidden romantic feelings Izuku hides for Katsuki that his secret gaydar quirk picked up? Could be. In a way, at the time it happened, it felt to me like Horikoshi himself was talking to us through him, telling us very explicitly, "You're damn right. They're gay."

Either way, skirting around this label for them is being done on purpose by Hori. Like his hidden way of saying "Yeah they might be acting a bit more like the best friends they were always meant to be as kids, but their feelings for each other are not 'friendly' AT ALL. Because platonic friendship is not where these two are headed." And there are STILL hidden feelings they haven't managed to say to each other yet! The content Horikoshi has been itching to draw for YEARS that he is finally getting to. All that soft bkdk romance we've been waiting for is coming SO SOON!!! and I am HERE for it anon! 🔥

** I do wanna give a warning that the au is a bit more tragic than my other ones. Or at least in a different way. It’s a lot of the two dragons not being raised properly and the consequences of that. Causing them to feel unsafe and not truly realizing it. The details about it are way in the end, but before it really gets there I will be answering the questions and touching on it as lightly as possible <3

Would you mind telling us more about the surgically removed combustion pouch?

Every Fire dragon has two organs relating to their fire. The spitting pouch located in their throat, which comes up to the bottom of their tongue and allows them to spit a corrosive liquid. Then the “combustion pouch” which acts like a secondary set of lungs, much smaller, and holds a gas that when released and mixed with the acid will cause the chemical to “combust” and act like a liquid flamethrower in some instances.

Hatchlings are usually taught how to use both organs properly so they don’t explode, but both organs are separated enough to not become much of an issue. The gas is also usually formed by eating certain minerals and storing the chemicals for later use. And their beaks are strong enough to remove and break apart those minerals to be properly broken down via a digestive process.

A little fun thing too. Some fire dragons, Volga being one of them, have vents near their ribs that allows them to release excess gas then light it by striking their wing claws or beaks. Some do it to impress potential mates, take out enemies, or because they have too much gas in their system and its causing discomfort. (They use it to impress potential mates because its sparkly under certain lighting, they fan their wings out and may do a little dance here and there before lighting it. Depends on the preference.) Otherwise, dragons who don’t have those vents release it like they’re spitting. Could be diverging evolution, or a mutation, or some familial tie, since not every fire dragon is born with it.

Some dragons are skilled enough to breathe fire immediately (using their acid pouch and flammable gas at the same time) while others may use one after the other or wait a little longer before using the gas. Also completely depends on user preference, the situation, and skill.

Was it because or an accident? Was it does before or during the war?

Ares and Apollo’s combustion pouches were removed at a very early age on purpose, to prevent them from lighting anyone on fire. So it would’ve happened before the war and before either of them knew it was a thing they had. The reason their acid pouches weren’t removed instead was so they could use it to break down hard to digest foods, or even bones since younger dragons like eating the marrow. Not that the two are given difficult to eat foods anyways, they’re on a much stricter diet compared to most fire dragons.

They had a lot of stuff removed or whittled down to prevent anything unfortunate happening, but that causes some pretty big consequences when they eventually come across other dragons who do have stuff and make them wonder why they don’t. Puts the question in their head about why their guardians didn’t trust them enough to have smth dragons are built to have. And that’s not a good feeling.

What does Volga think about it?

Everything plays out geeenerally the same as my version of HW (which, not much changes, just a few characters and motivations and some different story beats). They meet in hyrule field, Volga cuts Ares off in one of the keeps to prevent his progress. He notices quickly that Ares is just… strange for a fire dragon but puts it aside. He just assumes its some kind of agreement to keep the hyrulean army happy.

It isn’t until later when he’s freed from Cia’s hold and sides with Artemis’s army that he realizes Ares and Apollo’s strangeness is a little deeper than some sort of personal preference or peace agreement. Its really not common for fire dragons to share territory or even side with hylians and humans, unless they feel their home will be endangered otherwise. Dragons don’t even like sharing territory with their own siblings unless they’re super close or need to. But he realizes then when they’re teamed together that wayyy more is odd and different and simply not right.

They don’t look right, they don’t smell like dragons, they refuse to breath fire, their claws are too short, their scales are too weak, their wing membrane is too short, they don’t have enough muscle mass. It doesn’t take a genius dragon to realize that they weren’t raised by dragons.

Curiosity starts to kill him and he starts making remarks and asking questions when off on a mission with Ares. He learns Ares had no idea they were even the same species, let alone that they should be able to breathe fire. He’s never burrowed before. He may have hoarded in the past? Volga doesn’t really count pillows and blankets as hoarding but its probably the closest Ares and Apollo could’ve gotten to it. He’s never truly had training to hunt for himself, never marked territory, never even scented territory (he’d wonder if that’s why he doesn’t smell right). The diet he has doesn’t encourage boosted scale strength or even body mass.

How he feels? Probably really pissed tbh. Volga was raised by two very strong gigantic dragons in a big family and has a lot of pride in his people. There are certain features and behaviors that encourage it too, and he’s grown up short tempered and fiery due to his lack of horns causing other dragons to see and treat him differently. But never has he met another dragon (let alone two???) that have had all that taken away before they even had a chance to learn it.

He eventually starts sneaking Ares off (unable to convince Apollo, she’s too close and trusting of her guardians), to teach him everything he’s missed out on. Even if he’s permanently fucked tbh, they can at least remedy some of the damage.

Some other miscellaneous information

- Ares and Apollo, in this au, are not twins. They’re born from the same clutch but not from the same egg. I decided on this because it would make twin dragons too common because Volga has twin sisters (he’s from a clutch of six, one of the eggs having been twins). I didn’t want it to be that common so they’re from separate eggs.

- Ares was hatched first and never imprinted. Apollo however imprinted on Artemis when she hatched which is why she’s much more trusting of her and refuses to believe much if anything Volga says. Artemis is practically, officially, her mom because of it.

- Wing claws need to develop throughout a dragon’s life in order to properly balance them out. Even if Ares and Apollo grew them back, they wouldn’t be the right length or weight to make a difference in their comfort.

- Ares has zoochosis, he paces a lot. Although both genders of dragons can and will claim territory, Ares’s lack of imprinting has made it difficult for him to feel safe and secure where he lives. And the inability (or even just the lack of knowledge on how) to claim territory has caused him mass amounts stress he doesn’t realize he has.

- Apollo doesn’t experience the same degree of stress Ares does. She’s spoiled a lot more than him, is let out more often, and rarely has the need to hoard or claim territory thanks to technically having it with Artemis. Dragon hatchlings who imprint on one of their parents won’t have the need to claim territory until they willingly migrate or are kicked out.

- A dragon with no hoard and no territory usually stress out until eventually “rampaging”. But no combustion pouch means difficulty rampaging. So Ares tends to lock himself away, not really truly realizing how miserable he really is.

- Another point on territory. Fire dragons are very sparse, not because they’re rare but because they’re very territorial and don’t like sharing unless they’re mates or (tentatively) family. Volga’s territory was from a different dragon long before Hyrule Kingdom was founded, he challenged the dragon then (a story I might get into later) and won, killing the dragon and winning said territory, the hoard, and now leads the lizardfolk like the previous dragon had. The whole area covers the entirety of Eldin Volcano and a large chunk of hyrule field and some of the plateaus. He refuses to let go of it, even to Zelda’s request as its very important to keep it else the lizardfolk would overrun the gorons and the treaty between the two races would crumble. It would be hell if Volga let go of his territory and moved away, so Artemis tentatively made a verbal peace agreement with him to make sure hell doesn’t break loose. Hopefully that makes sense.

- ^ being in another dragon’s territory, since Volga’s technically reaches into Hyrule Field and possibly into the castle, is also probably causing Ares more stress because he has no way to do anything about it. Constantly smelling danger danger nearby and not knowing what to do is probably really scary for him.

- Last point. Volink might still happen. I feel like after a while of helping Ares, Volga might realize he’s fallen for him a little. Maybe it’s a slow thing? Smth he doesn’t realize until a certain point? Maybe Ares is in danger? Maybe they’re separated for longer than expected? Something. We’ll see.

The training simulations - how do those work? Magic once more? And is a Kaminoan required to be present in the simulation for the magic?

How does communication work? Solely parchment (flimsi?) and quill and ink? Or do we have a magic-system for that to? And do they have a palantir-like screen in place of holoprojectors (palantir is that orb Pippin picks up in the LOTR movies, it's an object used to communicate between far places)?

What of datapads and holopads?

Chain mail! I don't know enough about the mediaeval era, but I do remember chain mail being a light and indispensable item for a soldier. Especially the mithril shirt that Bilbo hands over to Frodo and subsequently saves his life because mithril is just that cleverly crafted by the dwarves.

But the armor in stars wars is mostly plate-like, so does chain mail exist? Also, is there a particular alternative to the plastoid, or is it just the usual metal?

Okay, here's a bunch of fun questions: will a clone randomly burst into song when he's doing something repetitious only to have the rest of his brothers pick it up as well? Sort of like with "Drunken Sailor" where one sings the main stanzas and they all join in on the chorus, or "Gaol ise Gaol i".

And do they learn to play instruments once they get off Kamino? If so, which ones?

Okay, back to the more pressing matters.

That post you dropped on Echo not eating his oranges made me think: there's a lot of clones in the galaxy, not to mention the Jedi travelling alongside them, not to mention the pirates and rulers and senators and all sorts of people travelling the seas in general. So they must need to keep a ridiculous amount of citrus fruits in stock, commodities that are as essential as water.

Water, I forgot about fresh water, that must be on very high demand, especially out on the seas, yes? Or do they have an on-board converter that turns saline to fresh water?

Back to citrus fruits: there must be acres of lands, if not entire islands dedicated to growing them. And if we're talking about a time before liquid fuel is used - does Malastare become an island that is essential for its citruses? Sort of like how Malastare fuel was just as essential? Essential enough to fake a Zillo Beast's death?

The Zillo seems a straightforward enough answer, being the Star Wars equivalent of a Balrog, so I don't have any questions about the beast.

But when we come to fuel, we come also to gunpowder and the like, unless this is before all such weapons come into play?

Oh! Another fun question!

Do the ships have pets? Like a cat to keep the mice away, or any birds like your stereotypical parrots?

Also, tookas and loth-cats! Are they the same as in Star Wars, or are they regular cats? Following that line of thought, are all the animals in Star Wars the same here, or are they real-world animals, or is it all a strange mix?

I forgot to add that option. I think most of your AU is a strange mix of real-world and Star Wars galaxy ideas, if I'm not wrong.

And finally, do the clones have any particular myths they share on a quiet night or around the bonfire? Like ghost ships or cursed flags or the undead sailing the seas, like in Pirates of the Carribean?

Clone Training

Training in Kamino Fortress is a blend of rudimentary mechanical simulations, alchemical effects, and man-to-man sparring. A Kaminoan, or at the very least a conscripted bounty hunter, is always required to supervise the Clones' training, and a Kaminoan must be present if any alchemical element is to be used (as they are the only ones who know how to operate them). In addition to the combat training rooms, there are other complexes designed to train the future army in extra areas they'll need expertise in:

The Sea Rooms: a series of white tiled rooms, each for a different specific purpose, filled with the water from the outside, where the Clones learn the seafaring skills essential to their future: sailing, swimming, navigation in rough water, et cetera. Often, young cadets will sneak in during their precious few hours of downtime to swim recreationally.

The Observatory: the lowermost and therefore darkest room of the fortress, in what would have been the dungeon before it was sunk; a huge room with a high ceiling, into which are embedded glowing white crystals in the exact positions of the stars above. The room can even rotate itself to mimic the changing of the seasons. It is here that young Clones first learn to read their star maps, for when they are set adrift in the night and must keep their direction straight and true.

The Medical Complex: Though Clone Medics specialize in healing, every soldier of the future GAR must learn basic field medicine in case a CMO is not available. Rooms in the Medical Wing include simulation rooms for battlefields and the open ocean, a more controlled environment for learning field surgery and also the more intricate operations needed post-battle (specifically for CMOs-in-training), and a small alchemical laboratory for preparing basic medicines.

Communication

Most informal communication in the Galactic Archipelago is through parchment-and-quill letters. These can be delivered by the Republic Postal Service (which employs both overland branches on the separate islands, and boats for transporting letters oversea), or personal messengerfowl. For more urgent and/or formal communication, there's the use of hologram mirrors, which I did describe briefly in an earlier post but will re-touch here: yes, they are actually quite similar to Palantiri; they project a three-dimensional, smoky image of the other party onto their surface, and can be full-sized (usually stationary) or handheld (for the field or personal communication). And datapads/holopads are most often regular books or wax tablets; while some do have enchantments, this is rare, and most of these books are preserved in the archives of the Jedi Order for safekeeping.

Armor

I'm going to give an overview of Clone and Jedi armor here; Mandalorian Armor will get its own post when I have the time to actually sit and worldbuild for that XD

Clone Armor: Every Clone in the GAR has a suit of armor that he is given upon his graduation, as well as a set of "blacks" that he'll wear when not actively engaged in military business. (I'm actually almost done with the official references for these! if you'd like to see the slightly-out-of-date versions of the blacks and cadet uniforms, i'll link that here.) The blacks consist of a grey cotton undertunic, a soft, uncured black leather overtunic emblazoned with the Republic crest, white twill breeches, and a black leather belt and matching boots. His identification ring is worn on his right hand. The actual standard Clone armor is made from white-enamel-plated durasteel (to protect it from the corrosion caused by life on the sea) with a black chainmail tunic underneath and a cloth sash worn around the shoulders. When arming, the leather overtunic of the blacks is removed and the armor is worn over the undergarments. The identification ring is covered by gloves. In addition, higher-ranked or specialized troops (Commanding Officers, CMOs, ARC Legionaries, Commandos, et cetera) have physical indicators of their rank, such as extra cloth elements like kamas, larger pauldrons (for ARC Legionaries), winged helmets (for Commandos), and the like.

Jedi Armor: While most Jedi wear the habit of the Jedi Order (which can be highly personalized and diverse), during wartime they take up a more uniform armor to wear in the field. Jedi armor is not as heavy-duty as Clone armor and allows for slightly more personalization, and comprises a simple chainmail tunic, an overtunic emblazoned with the Jedi Crest (in various colors), splint-armor trousers, upper-chest armor and pauldrons, and some variation of boots and gloves. Color, cut, armor style, and cultural elements are left to the discretion of the individual Jedi. (i have a big, focused post specifically about jedi clothing here, if you're interested.)

CLONES AND MUSIC CLONES AND MUSIC CLONES AND MUSIC

Hey, just so you know, I'm making a whole separate post for this because it is that important to both the Clones and Me. I'm going to be tagging you in that post as soon as I am done with it because it's one of my absolute FAVORITE topics :DDD

Essential Ship Supplies (AKA Citrus and Potable Liquid)

Yes, Malastare will be growing citrus now. I love you you're the best. Water conservation in the warships of the Republic Navy is extremely important, and there are both manual and magical (though the latter is rarer) ways of converting the saltwater of the sea into drinkable water for the troops. Fresh water is also collected when ships are docked in port. However, water can have a tendency to carry disease and is overall not a reliable potable, so many holds also carry barrels and barrels of much more sterile alcohol (this is historical! and it's usually diluted with the collected freshwater, especially so that, you know, padawans aren't drinking hard concentrated liquor XD).

Gunpowder Weaponry

I've thought long and hard about this so prepare yourself. It's not used very often, being too often unwieldy and overall unsuited for the culture of the Galactic Archipelago- that is, UNTIL the rise of the Empire. Up until the end of the Clone Wars, very few people use guns as their weapon of choice; those who do are usually bounty hunters, and theirs are more often than not personal, custom-built firearms. In fact, in the entirety of the story, Han Solo is the only protagonist character to actually be proficient in the use of a pistol. Now, the Empire in this AU is heavily steampunk-inspired, and it lends well to their rhetoric of trying to stamp out any use of magic- whether that be the false magic of alchemy or, more dangerous, the true magic of the Force- through convincing the public of the strength of Imperial Machinery. Thus, all Imperial soldiers are issued rifles and/or pistols, and this becomes a huge point of discussion in terms of one character in particular. That character is Crosshair. When allied with the Empire, they give him his gunpowder firearms- an entirely different type of weapon than the bow and crossbow he's so proficient with. Thus, when he rejoins his brothers, not only does he struggle with his shaking hand, he also has to re-learn how to use his original weapons, since he spent so much time developing the muscle memory for an entirely different class of warfare that his skill with his traditional arms has atrophied. The unwieldiness of gunpowder firearms is also why Stormtroopers are such notoriously terrible shots.

Animals

Quite a few Jedi warships have pets, whether legally or otherwise. Many Clones and Padawans will just… sneak whatever they can hide into the hold, and most of the time their Jedi are quite willing to indulge them, as long as the situation doesn't get out of hand (mostly so they, who are themselves very fond of animals most of the time, can continue to hide the ship companions from the knowledge of the Senate). The Resolute has at least three birds (Ahsoka's doing), a cat- ostensibly for the "rat problem" (this one was Hardcase; they don't actually have a rat problem, but Rex was willing to let this one slide), and… a tank full of exotic fish (Dogma's collection, which he caught all by himself; even after he leaves the 501st, they keep it in his memory). Jesse, Fives, and Echo have been holding out hope for a dog, but so far their dreams have not been realized. The Negotiator has a strict no-furry-creatures rule (Cody's allergic), but Waxer and Boil have still managed to sneak various reptiles and even the occasional colony of insects aboard- much to their Commander's annoyance and General Obi-Wan's amusement. As for the Marauder… well, they have Gonky, who for the purposes of this AU is going to be a goat. Don't ask me why, if Hunter doesn't get an answer from Wrecker and Crosshair then you don't either.

Clone Mythos

I'm going to go more in-detail for this in the Clones and Music post, but the short answer is yes, the Clones are excellent storytellers and it's one of their favorite pastimes, considering that they had to find some way to keep themselves entertained in Kamino. While under the sea, cadets would tell each other fantastical stories of the world above, of fish that swim in the sky and stars that grow on trees, of forests that sway in currents not made by water, of a golden jewel set in the center of the heavens that makes everything bright and clear and warm (so unlike the murky depths of the ocean floor); and when the soldiers found themselves on land and sea and ship, they'd weave recountings to their Jedi Generals and Padawan Commanders of the tales of the depths below, of the bird-like fish that nest in the forests of coral and the anemones that serve as the flora of sandbar meadows, of the great mountains of the deep and of underwater volcanoes, of the starfish and jellies that shine in the inky waters surrounding Kamino (as if they hold some memory of their ancestors set in the sky). Clones are also fantastic storytellers and delight in telling stories they make up on the spot. Additionally, though it isn't quite storytelling, one of their most favorite… traditions? superstitions? rituals? (i'm not quite sure know how to define this but what have you) is that they'll write letters or poems or little notes, hopes, dreams, wishes, prayers- on scraps of paper, and then fold them into the shapes of birds and cast them into the sea in the hopes that the sea spirits will read them and answer them. (This came to me in a vision and i cut into my sleep time just to write this down so i hope this makes sense.)
