Behold! Drafts of Anne-Marie’s Biological Parents!

This was meant to be a design study since I already designed Anne-Marie, so I wanted to see how her bio parents would look like. Also I wanted to give a face for these a-holes so we can all hate on them for giving the girl trauma.

However, this also transformed into an idea that wouldn’t leave me alone, so I have decided to make it canon to Anne-Marie’s backstory.

Everyone, meet Anne-Marie’s birth parents: Isabella and Simon Stride…

In my head, I always had a clear image of what Isabella looked like. Anne-Marie was always meant to take after her in looks so it wasn’t that hard to pin down the face. All I had to do was change her nose.

Now, she originally had a purple color scheme with green eyes — since purple means royalty and Isabella often had visions of living a luxurious life — but I was given a note in Discord that it made her look too much like Rachel and maybe I should warm up the colors, so that’s what I did.

Honestly? I love it. It gives Isabella Mother Gothel vibes and I think it fits her perfectly. Two women who have no right to be mothers.

Now, onto the man of the hour himself.

So, to put it bluntly, I didn’t planned for Simon Stride to be involved in this story. Originally, Anne-Marie’s bio father was meant to a generic rich slime-ball who Jekyll had only seen in passing at parties.

But then my mind played around with the idea of: “What if it was Simon Stride?” Suffice to say, I couldn’t escape that brainworm.

So yeah, this is my Simon Stride design for TGS. Who, as the words of @definatelymrhyde (hey 🤣) described him: “punchable and French”

Assorted Nekoma headcanons: (just for funzies)

(they've been sitting in my archives for YEARS)

First years:

Lev actually managed to get a girlfriend at one point about halfway through first year, she asked him out because she thought he was cute, broke up with him a week and a half later after realizing he’s a dumbass and a bit of a weirdo

Shibuyama is one of those people who you’d think he’s just listening to Taylor swift or something but he unplugs his earbuds and its like- little darkie or some screamo heavy metal LMAO

Shibuyama has a helicopter mom which feeds his anxiety to the point that he carries pepper spray with him sometimes

Tamahiko has a pet tarantula

Inuoka is the kind of person who’d wear shorts when its snowing out

Inuoka and lev will both unironically do Fortnite dances during practice

Shibayama totally has a bunch of allergies and is a picky eater

Inuoka and lev are basically just human garbage disposals (will eat ANYTHING)

Lev can’t swim

Biblically accurate lev Haiba (gets the worlds WORST sunburns every time he goes outside)

Lev has low blood pressure and will randomly faint when standing up too fast (Kenma has the same problem but refuses to admit it)

Inuoka is one of those people who types in all caps the majority of the time. Every literature and language teacher he’s ever had has told him off for using way too many exclamation points. (He can’t help it he’s just a happy little dude)

Lev texts constant updates about what he’s doing t the team group chat to the point where he’s been kicked off of it more times than he can count. (Usually for talking about taking a shit) (see Charles Boyle from B-99 for reference)

Second years:

Fukunaga and Kenma rarely have actual text conversations but they’re constantly sending memes back and forth to each other

Tora actually has fairly curly hair and it was a borderline afro when he was in elementary school (he’s part latino in my mind argue with the wall)

Kenma listens to almost exclusively video game soundtracks (skyward sword is his favourite)

Tora totally listens to girypop rap (he is 100% a Flo milli Stan sorry)

Tora has asked kai for advice on how to talk to girls SEVERAL times and the information that you should just talk to them like they’re normal people blows his mind every time (how does kai do it? Is he a witch? A demon?

Fukunaga owns at least 3 cats and they all have weird names (inspired by my friend who’s cat’s name is Fax Machine)

Kenma is the world’s driest texter (canon actually)

Also fukunaga uses :3 constantly

Fukunaga and kenma constantly bully Tora about his obsession with looksmaxing and say shit like “he can’t talk he’s too busy mewing” LMFAO (you either drip or you drown taketora)

Tora knows how to braid hair cause he’d help akane with her hair when they were younger

All of the second years used to bite people when they were kids

Third years:

The third years have done group costumes for halloween since their first year

Kai is basically the team’s dedicated tutor (Kuroo is too snarky and yaku is too impatient)

Kuroo listens to western (English) music cause he thinks it makes him seem cool and he developed a superiority complex about it. “Oh you haven’t heard of Radiohead?”

Also kuroo and yaks have pretty similar music taste (a lot of modern rock) but the key difference is Kuroo likes arctic monkeys and yaku likes the strokes (they argue about which band is better constantly (yaku is right, its the strokes))(cause they always have to be arguing about something smh)

Kai also totally has a longtime girlfriend in high school bro is possibly the only person on the team who’s done ANYTHING with a girl (probably one of the only people on the whole damn SHOW)

Kai defo knows martial arts I would not want to face him in a fight

Kuroo still uses emoticons instead of emojis :3 ;D and whenever he does, yaku makes fun of him and tells him to “get with the times”

Yaku 100% repeats what Kuroo says in a mocking tone whenever the opportunity arises

Kai is the type of person to say “personality” when asked if he prefers tits or ass

Miscellaneous:

Nekoma is the most neurodivergent team in the whole show bruh like come on 

(autistic: Lev, Kenma, fukunaga.)(kenma totally also has ARFID)

(ADHD: Inuoka, Yamamoto, (both textbook cases of ADHD in guys) Kuroo, fukunaga) (Fukunaga my AuDHD king)

(OCD: Tamahiko, shibuyama (I just get vibes ok leave me alone) 

(Yaku isn’t neurodivergent he just has anger issues lmao) 

Kai is the only sane one on the entire team

Kuroo is also 100% one of those kids who got diagnosed with adhd really young so he appears mostly normal thanks to being medicated from the age of like- 6

Every single person on the team is oblivious as to when someone is flirting with them (kai is the exception)(girls pull out the wow your hands are so big and you’re so tall all the time and NOBODY reads into it)

Kai exclusively smells like a mix of vanilla and sandalwood and on the other side of that spectrum, Yamamoto reeks of axe body spray and b.o. No matter how many times Kenma tells him that axe actually drives girls away, Tora never listens.

Akane becomes manager of the boys volleyball team once she reaches high school (the first years will be third years by then)

Behold, the Hyde version of Anne-Marie if she ever drank HJ7 on accident. Yeah, she’s a ginger instead of being blonde. I was talking with someone over on discord and they mentioned ginger. We joked how in all of these Taking the Potion AUs, the blondes had taken over so I figured, why not make her ginger? 🤣

Other notes about this design as well as her personality:

Because Annie’s eyes are green, I figured why not make her Hyde have red eyes to be like a parallel to her dad. I know it’s hard to tell because I’m coloring to how they look because of the Chemical Accident, but rest assure those are some ruby red eyes.

Since Annie has long hair, I figured her Hyde should have some short hair while also having more curls. Is it a reflective of Anne-Marie looking more like her bio mother? Maybe.

She… She also has her mother’s nose. A fact that she does not like when she realizes.

Is about the same size she was when she first met Jekyll. Like during her orphanage days. I figured since this Hyde is the manifestation of the kid Anne-Marie didn’t allow herself to be, then she would appear a lot younger.

Like I said before, this is still technically the Annie we all know. But while the regular Annie used anger to deal with her problems or keep them to herself, the Hyde Annie is more open about her pain, fears, and is a bit of a crybaby. One who is desperate to have her father’s attention.

Again, there is no split for both of these girls. They’re still the same. So there’s no communication between the two nor is there a Mindscape. Just imagine a girl that’s under a truth serum.

Still deciding on a name for her. I think someone mentioned Anna on Tumblr a while back?

For me, it’s a tied between Army of Nightmares and Sad People Dance, Too. My love for AoN mostly stems from the fact we are watching Jekyll slowly deteriorate from the Nightmares and Hyde's schemes. Like, come on, the guy is put through the absolute ringer in this chapter. I don't know what this says about me, but I have this thing where I need to see my favorite go through bad stuff and this chapters encapsulates it. I just love the things that were building and building up until we see green-eyed Jekyll in that last page. That last page? Made me gasp and I am still reeling at how wrong Hyde's smile and eyes looks on his face.

I picked SPDT as well because this chapter not only Jekyll going through a rough time, but we also got a chance to see him happy with Lanyon. Listen, I may be the Dark One, but even I can enjoy some happy moments with romance every now and then. I also loved how this chapter goes into full circle of Jekyll having problems with the Lodgers before we end the chapter of him figuring things out. Like, FINALLY!

What's your favorite TGS chapter and why?

I'll go first- I love Army of Nightmares. It has my favorite art style in the entire comic, and the backgrounds are so cool with all the nightmare creatures. We also get green-eyed Jekyll for the first time which is pretty epic. I also love the interaction between Jekyll and Jasper in that chapter too, it's one of my favorite interactions in the whole comic. Also the ending of that chapter is the perfect cliffhanger imo. Really good chapter, 10/10.

Do you guys ever think about the empty crib back during the adoption day? Because I’m ALWAYS thinking about it.

We all know that Quackity and his team are diligent, they think things through before they do it, they talk about it, and they have plans that they follow. Thanks to Dapper, we know that the original Spanish/English parent pairs were planned, they KNEW how many pairs there would be, they KNEW how many eggs they would need, they KNEW how many cribs would need to be filled, and they KNEW that BBH and Quackity would be single parents cuz their assigned partners were not present. But there was still an empty crib.

Now, it could be just that the admin for it was late, but were they really? I mean, all the eggs have admins, they could clearly see the empty crib, they would have messaged the person appointed or got another person to play the egg temporarily, but they didn’t. Why? I don’t know! 

So, in the end, one pair ended up having no egg. Foolish and Vegetta. Who then later got Leonarda after waiting for their egg to ‘get helicoptered over’.

And you know what’s interesting about Leonarda? It’s the fact that they are the one egg, other than Chayanne, who seems to have the most freedom to use their admin privelages. The amount of times they use creative mode to generate uncraftable items is insane and they use teleport a LOT for her parents. 

And if we get out of meta for a sec and look at her character, she has some kind of strong bond with Cucurucho from the very beginning. She LOVES Cucurucho and even calls it their best friend and she even said that she’s met up with him a couple of times when Foolish and Vegetta weren’t around. Then we have her friend ‘Darki’ who is supposedly the one who protects Foolish’s dragon build. ‘Darki’ who has been portrayed as some kind of dark entity with red eyes who can remove reinforced blocks and summon lightning from nothing. Then she starts getting nightmares about inescapable rooms, strangers talking to her in a language she couldn’t understand, and burning treehouses. And then said she “sometimes knew things without knowing”. And now she’s getting targeted by the Code that is supposedly anti-Federation??

Idk man. If that empty crib was deliberate and the last pair without an egg was bound to get the most suspicious egg out of all of them, then. Wow. Just. That would be so awesome. Like, actually so cool. It’s a really good concept.

Reiner: "Goosebumps" by Travis Scott; this fits his kinda depressed, self-loathing nature that (in a way) relies on other people and its laidback. "With my squad I can do no wrong" is a nod to Annie and Bertholdt I fear

Bertholdt: "Lucid Dreams" by Juice WRLD; it's introspective and guilt-ridden which reflection Bertholdt well

Ymir: "Heartless" by Kanye West; this shows her care-free, badass, bitch personality because she really doesn't care about anyone except herself (excluding Historia of course)

Historia: "Sober" by Childish Gambino (I had to have my fav make an appearance again); I like this song for her because it's kind of an upbeat feel with sad lyrics which feels a lot like her as a character. And tbh, I think after everything happened with Ymir she has a hard time forgetting about and coping with everything unless she isn't sober
