I'm going for a long term city builder colony any recommendations considering your experience?
Oh, I love love love city builder colonies!! They're definitely one of my favourite types to build <3 <3
1- Keep temperature management in mind when selecting a place for your city! While playing the Animist Alliance run, I found managing temperatures across the colony super difficult. I couldn't just put vents in walls to even out the temperatures of a bunch of conjoined rooms; I had to give every separate room its own heater and cooler. I was very grateful that the random map tile was a temperate forest, or I would have been fretting about it a lot more than I did.
2- It's so much easier if you have an ideology that's tolerant of other ideologies! If you're using the 'City Builders' meme from Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Memes and Structures, your colonists absolutely will not want to leave the colony. If you allow one or two people of a different ideology to join you, they'll be able to do quests or trade caravan trips without suffering mental breaks every two minutes, and it's so much easier to recruit heretics when your colonists aren't calling them heretics to their faces.
3- Long-term colonies are more fun when you've got someone to share them with! The Animist Alliance was the first ever RimWorld colony I played through to the end, and I 100% believe it was because I was sharing the adventure on Tumblr. Then I finished the Children of Ecthuctu run, and I'm holding steady with A Mechanitor's Message too! Talking about the crazy RimWorld dramatics makes the game so much more enjoyable. My brother and I spend so much time raving about our shared misadventures, and we have so many RimWorld colonies whose stories we retell over and over and over and over again. The Cyberdwarves, Charlie's Androids, The Outcasts and Heretics, Where's Waldo... Heck, we have one colonist who's so legendary we have a plush toy of him!! You don't have to share your colonies with anyone if you're uncomfortable doing it, but for me, that human connection makes the long-term feel so much more rewarding.
I'm no expert, so these tips might not be useful at all, but I bet you're going to have so much fun with your colony!! I hope it goes amazingly and you get a kickass story out of it <3

I think one last #discourse ban violation before I go literally touch grass (it's such a nice day out! I'm going to run an errand and then go to the bookstore to pick up the first in the next series I'm starting and then I'm going to go to the park and come home and have an actually focused writing evening -- for realsies this time, I've said that like two weeks in a row and I've managed like 800 total words...)
I think I'm never going to be as bothered as the #Bros yelling on instagram and youtube because god, I just have such a love/hate....mostly hate....relationship with James Luceno that I don't particularly give a shit about his ideas being superseded. They're crying about 'well, um actually Darth Plagueis...' like who cares if the gay witches did it first, Darth Plagueis isn't that special.
Did I enjoy reading it? Yeah. But it is also a...pretty sexist book. And also I didn't make it past 35% of Cloak of Deception because a POV character (can't remember if it was Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan at that point and I don't want to have to reread that paragraph to find out) described Adi Gallia as 'exotic' and it gave me the ick, as the youths say, so bad I DNFed and am hesitant on picking up any of his other books. So like. Yeah I kinda think James Luceno deserves to have his ideas overridden by cult of lesbians. I don't really care about him.
*I also acknowledge that as someone whose favorite recent star wars content has been Visions, I have a particularly high tolerance for flexibility in 'canon' and worldbuilding. Like who cares, why are you guys yelling about this so much XD

Any unpopular opinions?
(Sleepover Sunday, I guess, because I'm only getting to this now, whoops!) ALL I HAVE ARE UNPOPULAR OPINIONS, LOL. Seriously, I'm lucky I only have, like, seven followers because otherwise I'd be chased off this website with torches and pitchforks. I'll try to give a mildly spicy one and not to be too much of a bitch...we'll see...
Toni Storm's current character/gimmick is A THOUSAND times more creative and original than anything any man on that roster has done in YEARS. And the fact that she's not on this PPV card is a fucking travesty. But I'm not surprised because TK hates women, and wrestling fans simply do not show up for women's wrestling the same way they do for boring white guys doing the most generic, tired, old Heel 101 bullshit 🙂🙂🙂
Ah, fuck it, one more because I bitch about this every week anyways - that Nigel wanker on Collision is one of the worst commentators I've ever heard. He's so annoying! He spends more time putting himself over than the talent in the ring (literally the opposite of a commentator's job) and he clearly has no respect for the women because as soon as a women's match starts, he immediately starts talking about unrelated male wrestlers. Or just himself! And that's when he's not making pervy comments about them - dude makes JR sound like a feminist icon by comparison. I am uncooly judging everyone on here who thirsts over him. Come on, people, standards! Y'all gonna start thirsting over the Qanon moron next?

Damn people get real mad when you decide you’re only doing your job and not working wholeheartedly to make theirs easier

some of you folks need to remember how to have fun in fandom again. fan art and ships are not there to hurt you, even if they’re not your preference. those things are there for people to enjoy. if you don’t enjoy them, just ignore them. i thought this was understood by now.
