12 is extremely emotionally unavailable, often coarse and unintentionally cruel/harsh, and is more 'flippant' with stuff that would cause a lot of other people emotional pain. in terms of his relationship with clara, she's the only one really permitted to see each and every side of him, and their relationship is very much a 'warts and all' type of thing, whether you interpret it as platonic or romantic or a secret third thing, its very... you're ugly, i'm ugly. neither of us can absolve or condemn the other, we can only love, and we do.

clara is such a fascinating character. she starts out imo as a fairly shallow girl with not much to separate her from the typical spunky adorkable sassy female deuteragonist of the 2010s but she gains infinitely more depth when paired with 12. as his own deep flaws are exposed, her reactions to them expose her own. she can be reckless, hotheaded, selfish, but at her core she is empathetic, kind, and loyal. and what i like a lot abt her is that she isnt a doormat to 12's callousness or disinterest. she will talk back to him, she will put him in his place even though its evident that 12 is smarter/wiser/older than her. it's such an equal-sided relationship that it never feels like 12 is bulldozing clara's feelings , or that clara is spitefully bullying 12 , because we know where they both come from .

so . long story short . 12 is ouma , keeping people at a distance with a soft spot for one person who is allowed to see him, who comes across cruel and flippant to most other people, who is not above deceit to get his way, who condescends to those he thinks are below him, who loves the other with all his heart. and phys is clara, the one who will see every ugly part of him and stand by him anyway, who will not lie down and allow him to trample over her feelings or the things she thinks are important, who will remind him when he's wrong, who will stick by him until death.

This right here is what pisses me off the most about qt costing now. This is a Sith Warrior, sitting in Marka Ragnos’ tomb and unable to fast travel back to the Academy bc I didn’t have enough money. There is NOTHING  in her inventory. I already sold everything she didn’t currently have equipped. 

Normally when I start a new toon I send them seed money, but since this one’s just a throwaway for the weekly I didn’t bother. Wound up fast traveling to the field research area and taking a speeder, which does work, BUT it’s still annoying bc you used to be able to just go all the way back. Yes, it’s a convenience thing. I get that. They don’t have to include it, you don’t have to use it. But they did include it, and it’s a convenience that’s been free for years, and some newbie who has no higher level toons to send an allowance credits to starter ones is gonna be unable to take advantage of that convenience bc BW decided to add an arbitrary and frankly overpriced cost to it. How is Jo Schmo who just started the game contributing to inflation, BioWare? What negative impact are they having on the economy when they’ve only been playing for two hours and haven’t even left the starter planet? How does this help fix the economy? Anyone selling items for fuck you money through the trade channel isn’t even going to feel less than 800 credits, but it’s more than starter toons HAVE after SELLING EVERYTHING IN THEIR INVENTORY.

In my opinion, if they absolutely insist on keeping the charge for qt in the game, it needs to either a) not kick in til at least either Coruscant/Dromund Kaas(and even then, most places on Coruscant are 5k from the Senate tower. It’s ridiculous, so I’d argue Balmorra/Taris) or b) get cut waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down for starter/home worlds. I don’t care if that means higher level players aren’t paying a lot for travel when they come back to Coruscant/DK. As another example, It cost 8 times as much to quick travel from Kalikori Village to the Jedi temple vs taking the speeder.

I've been meaning to ask for a while now about your Splatoon self insert!! I love the Splatoon lore/world building and would LOVE to hear your takes on it and your S/Is roles in it??

Oh! Haha, well I don’t actually have much of a role in Splatoon’s main story. In fact, it’s quite the opposite!

I first got into Splatoon a little over half way through Splat 2’s lifetime. I didn’t have the game yet, and I didn’t really know much about the lore either aside from the absolute basics. I watched someone’s playthrough of Splatoon 1’s story mode (but not 2 since I did want to get it). And I watched the idols’ live performances on YouTube! I finally did get Splat 2 a couple months after the Final Fest (and I will never get over not being able to be a part of that, truly a one of a kind experience that I will never have ;^;).

So for my self insert, he first appears in the world in his late teens (like 17-ish) and he arrives in a very small town out in the middle of nowhere. The inhabitants of the town aren’t Inklings and don’t know much about Inkling culture so he has no one to teach him about what he is. Not that long after he settles in there, he gets a radio, which can tune in all the way to Inkopolis. From that radio, he learns about the culture of Inkopolis. He becomes invested in the story about the disappearance and return of the Great Zapfish, and even Callie. He listens to songs by the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook every day.

One day, there’s an announcement on the radio that the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook will be having a concert soon and he is determined to see it. So, he goes on the long journey to Inkopolis. He arrives the day of the concert and is so overwhelmed by everything, but still very excited. He has a chance encounter with Callie and she immediately takes a liking to him after he makes an absolute fool of himself in front of her gfhhfgfhgghv. After the concert, he gets to meet all the idols backstage. He bonds with Callie the easiest since he met her first, but he gets closer to the others over time as well. Marina actually made a custom Splat Roller for him so he could finally participate in Turf Wars!

…Aaaand that’s where my story stops, at least for now! I have yet to properly tie myself into Splat 3. I was thinking I’d like to somehow tie myself into Frye’s clan for kin reasons hdncjsbdcsj but I’m not sure how yet. For the most part though, my sona is quite mundane in the world of Splatoon. He isn’t part of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, so he doesn’t play any role in the actual story.

I have an Octoling version of myself as well who actually does play a major role on Octavio’s side, but he’s more of a secondary sona who I don’t normally present with. He’s sorta my “angsty” sona, however angsty my happy go lucky self can be lol

He’s basically a high ranking soldier in Octavio’s army who (accidentally) aided in kidnapping Callie. His story has two different endings. One: Agent 4 saves Callie as usual and Octo!Dorian defects from Octavio and joins Callie on the surface. Two: Callie is never found and Octo!Dorian overthrows Octavio, taking over the Octarian Army and ruling it with Callie by his side. He doesn’t free her because he’s afraid she’ll hate him for what he’s done so he lives a happy lie with her hypnotized by the hypnoshades instead of facing the heartbreaking reality. Yeaahhh, it’s clear why I call him my angsty sona hcnjdbkchshjcs

So yeah! Thank you for your interest!! I don’t have much thoughts on the world of Splatoon, so I’m more content just living my mundane yet ink-covered life with my faves!

one reason i think liu qingge has such great potential is that he's one of the only characters entirely free from the PIDM narrative. because he dies early in PIDM, sqq isn't coming into every conversation and interaction expecting lqg to adhere to a preconceived script. this allows sqq to actually see lqg as a person and for his words and actions to be taken at face value.

i just think this is great potential for sqq to still be completely oblivious or in denial about lbh and yqy's attentions (because he's so fixated on how bad/complicated PIDM!sqq's relationships are with them) whilst also catching wind of lqg's growing feelings for him because he isn't hampered by any preconceived notions of what they're dynamic "should" be.

so give me sqq noticing the way lqg's mannerism soften around him, how his gruffness changes, how he spends more time just having tea with sqq even after his meridians have been cleansed as they start to have civil conversation about sect business. recognising lqg's care in returning his fans; seeking common ground over their shared love of monster hunting (even if lqg just cares about fighting them, can he maybe smash them in such a way that shixiong can study them afterwards?) and discussions on cultivation techniques and the differences between bai zhan and qing jing styles.

sqq who is so just so grateful to have someone in his corner, someone he feels safe with, who he doesn't have to second guess during every conversation. someone who was never supposed to be around by this point in the narrative, and so is entirely shen qingqui's.

"During an archaeological dig in a desert area north of Jerusalem 40 years ago, a seed was discovered which was determined to be in pristine condition but had obviously seen many a year.

Now, despite falling from its parent 1,000 years ago, it has grown into a mature tree, and botanists examining it believe it may be an extinct species that was used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years—even receiving a nod in the Bible.

Neither Israeli botanists, nor Dr. Sarah Sallon, a physician who founded the Louis L. Borick Natural Medicine Research Center at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem, could determine what species it was from simply from the seed covering. So they did what nature intended—they planted it.

Using a well-documented technique that saw 2,000-year-old date palm fruit pits germinate, Dr. Sallon soaked the seed in hormones, liquid fertilizer, and water, and then planted it in a pot of sterile seed; then waited.

Despite its genetic code being exposed to environmental stressors for over 1,000 years, the seed sprouted after 5 weeks. The shoot was protected by a caplike feature called an operculum. As the shoot grew, the operculum was shed—leaving something for the team to radiocarbon date. It narrowed down the age of the almost 10-centuries-old seed to between the years 993 an 1202.

Fast forward 14 years and the plant has become a 10-foot-tall tree. Dr. Sallon shared images of the tree, its bark, and its leaves with botanists around the world. One expert suggested it belonged to the genus Commiphora, found across the Arabian Peninsula and parts of Africa. A genetic analysis subsequently revealed this was the case, but a perfect match was lacking.

Dr. Sallon and her team thought it was an extinct species known from history as Judean Balsam, but the best way to confirm that suspicion would be to have some aromatic traces similar to the resins of the myrrh tree to which it is related. However, no such fragrant compounds were detected.

Instead, the chemical analysis of the leaves identified a group of phytochemicals known as guggulterols which have been observed in a related species called Commiphora wightii that’s known to possess certain cancer-fighting properties in its resin.

A medicinal balm, the origin of which is not known, is mentioned in multiple historical texts including the Bible as ‘tsori,’ and rather than the fragrant Judean Balsam, it’s this tsori that Dr. Sallon and her team believe they have found.

They must wait until the tree, now 14 years old, produces flower or fruit to know for sure if it’s an extinct species, and if so, how to perhaps keep it alive.

Dr. Louise Colville, senior research leader in seed and stress biology at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in London who wasn’t involved in the research, told CNN that it was a major accomplishment to grow a seed that old and possibly lead to a resurrection of this Biblical botanical.

“What’s surprising in this story is it was just a single seed and to be able to have one chance for that to germinate is extremely lucky,” she said.

“Working in a seed bank, seeing the potential for that extreme longevity gives us hope that banking and storing seeds that some at least will survive for very long periods of time.”"
