Recently finished Circe…

I Fucking loved the song of Achilles, I think it is one of my favourite books of all time. So I had high high hopes going into this… now it is written just as beautifully but it did not execute the emotion of SOA.

I read the first half of this book so fast, it was lyrical and enticing. Then I hit a wall and forgot about it for a couple weeks… once over the middle bump I became reinvested in the ending.

I describe this as a beautiful cozy comfort time read. It feels very soothing and warm. It’s a book to read with a tea and a candle. Personally I used it in my “slow mindful morning routine” and found it very grounding and calming. The book is like taking a deep breathe… does that make sense? As usual I am writing these reviews toasted.

Ending thoughts:

- it’s a nice message and moral. The life of Circe was interesting to learn about and helped me fill in some pieces regarding Greek mythology.

- You can really see Circe grow in her thoughts through the book. She starts so young and blank and you see the events shape her slowly. Circe at the beginning is nothing like circe at the end, yet they are the same.

- Circe’s life long journey of discovering herself and becoming assured in her being and then basically self actualizes is intriguing and inspiring.
