I saw a post saying how Wei Wuxian is lazy and barely does anything related to work, doesn't like meditating, doesn't like reading, and always plays around and causes chaos 😭.

I have nearly forgotten the novel, but I remember Wei Wuxian was clearly an exceptional cultivator in his generation. Logically, he must have worked hard to become one because no one is born as exceptional.

Are there any scenes in the novel that showcase how hardworking and studious he is? How he meditates, if he actually likes reading, or how he is definitely not lazy?

Related answer here, but also this is only a belief in fandom because jc and madam yu stans take those characters’ insults towards Wei Wuxian’s work ethic as gospel truth and made sure to pervasively spread it in fandom as “canon.” If you ask anyone where this idea came from, their literal only evidence are Jiang Cheng or Madam Yu (or in particularly pathetic cases, a fanfic they really enjoyed written by a stan).

Wei Wuxian mediates upon resurrection in chapter 2/3 of the novel (2 for 7seas, 3 for all other translations) for hours, almost passing out, even, because he didn’t realize that Mo Xuanyu’s body had been starved before he took it over. The only translation that doesn't call this meditation directly is exr, which says he sat in "Lotus position" (which is still meditating, hence why the others just call it meditation). Wei Wuxian’s cave in the Burial Mounds is full of notes, theories, and inventions that are later stolen after his death and spread to the rest of the cultivation world to make nighthunting easier and safer. None of his works had been improved upon in any way in the 13 years he was dead, and they even took his prototypes as completed projects. Wei Wuxian could answer every one of Lan Qiren’s questions to Lan Qiren's standards without hesitation, while the rest of the guest disciples hid to avoid being called on because they were not so confident in their own knowledge. None of this screams "lazy" or "causes chaos." Not wanting to sit in a library all afternoon copying rules as a punishment or be in a class listening to a boring teacher that everyone else is also bored with doesn't mean that one doesn't like reading or learning.

"night sky" turned into the prototype for io. i fell in love with her face and started thinking about how her story might go. she's changed over the years, but her name and earring are constant reminders of the reasons i loved her from the start 🌘
