glad to see the blog is back up again!! and with it and momoi now up, its time for another round of propaganda!!

so today we're gonna be talking about her character song, "Brand New Season!"

so this song is from the perspective a momoi around the time she was entering high school! and we know this because one of the first lines mentions

"The first season since our team split up is coming"

where "our team" refers to the Teiko Middle School Basketball Club, or more specifically, those she was closest with, the Generation of Miracles! after middle school, every member went to a different high school, as this was the time they all agreed that they hated playing basketball with each other (as they created a completely unbeatable team, killing their enjoyment of the game because they completely crushed everyone they faced)

but whats sad about it is that they all used to LOVE playing basketball and hanging out with each other!! however, they were simply too good, and grew apart from each other because of that! now imagine momoi, who, as the their manager and data analyst, slowly watcher her friends drift away from each other because of this!

whats worse is that much of their separation and cocky attitudes is because the adults at Teiko failed them!! when the team's original coach was hospitalized, the replacement coach had some pretty big shoes to fill! and while he noticed how negatively the growth of the GoM could affect them, what did the school administration tell him? he was asked to ALWAYS let them play and keep winning, as it would benefit the school's reputation! the school administration didnt care about the feelings of the players!! all they wanted was status!! and the replacement coach was powerless against it!!

and unfortunately, his decisions (such as letting aomine skip practices) led to the further decline of the generation of miracles (a choice that the replacement coach DID regret, but it the damage was already done...) the relationship of the generation of miracles in their final year was full of tragedy...

that was a bit long! but anyways, this song shows how momoi felt afterwards, after they all went their separate ways. id say this song especially leans towards talking about kuroko and aomine, the two she was closest with in the GoM

this line in particular id say demonstrates how she feels about kuroko:

"I know that even though we’re apart Though I want to see you soon, next time we’ll be on different benches Making such a complex expression"

momoi noticed that kuroko seemed to be a little more distant during their final years at teiko. and this was because kuroko was also affected by the other members drifting apart, with him being powerless to fix it. he was losing hope... and momoi noticed it! she wished for kuroko to be as happy as he used to be in their peak years at teiko, when everyone worked together and had fun!

and i think these lines are important because it really highlights how tragic the events of teiko was, completely crushing and changing the minds of their best players... you really get a sense of melancholy, as momoi wishes for things to get better...

the next section i think mostly refers to aomine:

"Every time like this with all my might, I’ve also got to give it my all I want to stand in the same place as you So that you won’t say such lonely words, As not needing anyone else’s support"

but she is trying!! she cant afford to give up and take it easy! she has to give basketball her all too, just like everyone else did before! because she IS talented enough to stand with them!!

and this is important for her because aomine, who id argue was one of the ones hit the hardest during the teiko tragedy, genuinely needs some support. he basically became depressed, as all the joy of his favorite sport was stripped away, because no one could challenge him...

he went completely solo, not believing in anyone, which hurt momoi, because she always knew him as very happy, loving basketball! but he changed after teiko... and she wanted to help him be happy again... make him see the value in teamwork and being with others again! theres definitely a lot going on in momoi's mind...

and the last section i want to highlight is

"I’m sure in time, the day will come when we can all gather with the smiles I love so much I wonder if it’s hopeless to wish for such a thing Since I intended to always fight together With everyone here"

she really misses everyone hanging out together! its highlight a lot for her that she's deeply hurt seeing her friends drift away from each other, longing for the days they could be with each other again! (kuroko also shares this dream) though, with how things look at the start of their highschool years, it did look a little grim, with no way of knowing if their relationship could be fixed....

still!! she believes in her friends! theyre special to her, and even if theyre all away, she believes, she knows theyll be back together!! and maybe this season will be the one to shake them and bring back their smiles!

so yeah!! sorry this was really long, i like this song alot and theres ALOT to talk about for momoi and teiko! but this song perfectly captures how important momoi is in the generation of miracles! shes one of the ones pushing to bring them back, as friends!! and it really shows how determined she can be, and how helpful she can be, always wanting the best for everyone!!

Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.
