Wanted to try ranking SWTOR class stories in order of "importance" - how relevant they are to the games overarching ongoing storyline, based on factors like how often aspects of them come up in other class stories, or elsewhere in the story, how easily they flow into the expansions, how important their companions end up being later, etc.
Jedi Knight: This one's undeniable, I think. It's basically the main plot class. Knight kills Vitiate first, deals with a lot of the more important problems on most of the planets they go to. And Kira, Scourge, and T7 all get main character status in the expansions regardless of your class.
Imperial Agent: This one is a tossup with Sith Warrior for me. I can see arguments for either, but Agent wins out imo just because of how far-reaching the Star Cabal is, and, maybe somewhat paradoxically, how relevant *other* class stories are to its story. Kaliyo and especially SCORPIO also end up being pretty important in the expansions, as well as a few other Agent companions and NPCs.
Sith Warrior: You are literally the Emperor's Wrath. The class with the closest direct connection to the Emperor, besides maybe Knight. Again its a tossup for me whether Warrior or Agent are the "A" plot for the Empire storyline, but the Wrath almost single handedly reignites the war for Darth Baras. As well as being a fairly close acquaintance of one of Vitiate's potential successors, Vowrawn. Vette also ends up being fairly important in the expansions, though not as much since Eternal Throne.
Jedi Consular: The Children of the Emperor have only recently become very, very relevant again, and we don't fully know where that plot is going, but I think thats still a compelling argument to put Consular relatively high. None of their companions have been super relevant post-class story besides Nadia on Ossus, but the Rift Alliance does end up feeling like a precursor to the Eternal Alliance, to me.
Sith Inquisitor: This may feel low for Inquisitor, given they become a Dark Council Member but honestly they don't do that much. They're somewhat responsible for the Dark Temple being Like That in the other class stories, and the Silencer Fleet is somewhat important, as well as Moff Pyron. But none of their companions are relevant anywhere else and I don't think the events of their class story are referenced anywhere except some passing name drops of Darth Thanaton. I could realistically rank them lower, but again, they ARE on the Dark Council.
Bounty Hunter: Honestly the remaining three tech classes are hard to rank. But I think BH gets a lot of credit for technically allowing Saresh to rise to power. And not for nothing, a lot of their companions have been relevant in expansions, especially Torian recently. You only get a *lot* of the earlier Mando stuff through BH, which I think also counts for something.
Trooper: I think Trooper mainly gets points for Jorgan being a main character in Fallen Empire. They do a lot of stuff that *feels* important, and General Garza, Rakton, and the Bastion come up elsewhere, but it never feels like there's much impact from the Trooper story overall.
Smuggler: I mean what can I say. I love the Smuggler storyline, and Nok Drayen *is* a member of the Star Cabal, but none of this shit mattered lol. Which is totally thematically appropriate imo, it's at least meant to be a pretty personal story with personal stakes. At least everyone can meet Akaavi and Guss in the expansions.

@star-wars-nexus haha I am both a good and bad person to ask this. Bad bc Consular is my favorite storyline so I am incredibly biased, good bc Consular is my favorite storyline when a lot of people write it off.😂
I really love the Consular story. It’s slower paced than some of the others, and doesn’t have the thriller feel of the Agent or the same in-your-face badassery of the Sith classes, but I feel like it’s one of the better stories at transitioning between acts, so it’s also smoother, if that makes sense? (Especially act 2 into act 3) And I honestly enjoy that it’s quieter and more subtle at telling its story. Also,it’s mentioned several times that you’re one of the more powerful Force users in the galaxy, so while it may be less in your face, you’re still a Badass.
The Consular deals a lot with themes of agency, responsibility, sacrifice, and forgiveness. If you’ve played a Knight and done the stuff with Kira being a Child of the Emperor? Yeah, the Children are a BIG part of the Consular story later in the game. So there’s some more you learn about them, which I think it neat. (Fingers crossed for more in the next patch)
It’s less a thing now that you can switch up class/origin, but Kinetic Combat Shadow makes me feel like the biggest badass in the galaxy and is handsdown no contest my favorite thing to play(almost all my Force users added it as second spec if they didn’t already have it, my SW hasn’t switched back to Mara since xD)
I’m trying to think of ways to talk it up without spoiling too much in case you haven’t played it yet and want the surprise. let’s see.... the companions are great, I think it might be the only class where I like all of them a lot. My one gripe would be how late you get the romances. You don’t pick up Felix until you finish Hoth, and Nadia(my beloved <3) doesn’t join as a companion until after Belsavis, but she’s been traveling with you and engages in ship cutscenes for act 2 and 3 even before she’s a companion. So you get to know her and build a relationship even before you can take her on missions with you.
The ending... OOOOOOOOH the ENDING. You can drastically alter your ending depending on your dialogue options with a certain NPC. We’re talking life or death, redemption or destruction level alter, and I love it so much.

Tested out a bit of Stars Without Number the other day, so of course that means the chance to design a PC.
Her name is Avanti, she's a smuggler/thief and I feel it's a miracle she survived her first outing, since SWN holds no punches (a trap nearly took her out as it was). It's just her and her space-exploring buddy out to do some adventures.
(criminal background, adventurer expert-warrior class with alert, gunslinger and specialist-connect for foci)

for BH specific lines there was only really one outside of being called hunter once at the start:
Tumblr media
otherwise a BH being a mandalorian is never mentioned. the only other differences is how sa’haar reacts to an imp character vs a pub character and your responses to her. she seems more amenable to a pub character and more guarded towards imp, and pub is much kinder, has an option to offer her to join you, imp really only had yell at shae or yell at her, whoops)
bonus, since i didn’t flirt with rass on koren, if you didn’t take the flirts during the main story, when you talk to him at the start of the daily area story you get a different flirt than if you had chosen the “i owe you one” flirt prior

So the thing is is that Doe is inclined to help those badly off or if they ask nicely or if he feels like they've suffered some injustice 97% of the time
However
If you do something he finds annoying or rude (towards him) on purpose, all helpfulness is out the window and now you are put into the 3% of People Doe is Going To Go Out Of His Way to Inconvenience.
He had to physically stop himself from selling the Devil who helped him escape New Newgate out when he saw him using his knives.
The smuggler trying to steal his shit and then fighting him physically for it? Sorry but he's going to sell you out to the Capitalism Bat. And then you lie to him about a revenge plot after what he's been through?
He'd have left them in the mine for the crime of being annoying, honestly.

So the idea behind my Tav's backstory is that he's The Guy™️. You need something that's hard to find? Something kinda illegal? Something in a difficult place to reach/break into? He's your guy. If he can't get it, you're either asking for the (almost) impossible, or you're just asking for something he refuses to get for you (like people or something incredibly dangerous).
He uses his various wild shapes to sneak in and out and around, and a special bag of holding that can stretch to a very large opening (is this canon compliant? I have no fucking clue, don't care, my city now). And maybe most importantly, he uses his approximately 5 billion contacts in and around and outside the city of Baldur's Gate that he's built up over the past 30 years to find and get what he needs.
This leads to 2 things;
1) When people start getting difficult, he immediately switches into "customer service mode" where he's very polite no matter how rude the other person gets, but he can also be very persuasive and maybe even a little manipulative.
2) Once they reach Baldur's Gate they get stopped like 5 times a day by people coming up to Tav like "mate where's my stuff, where have you been for the past month(s)", which all the companions either find very annoying or just hilarious. Eventually he just writes out a handwritten note and asks Gale to magically make copies of it so Tav can hand them out to anyone who asks lmao
