Have a silly little Watcher x Aranessa strip born from a session over a year ago... :'D

For someone with max charisma, Watcher struggles a little.

I do have a few other bits and pieces for the two of them, some more little strips, some more arty, but this is the oldest so probably best to post sooner rather than later...

As usual, I'm so behind with art, so have a smarmy, charm boy.

Art from quite literally two years ago because I'm terrible 😅 At least it means I have some Watcher pieces since I haven't drawn him for a while...!

I think I originally drew this for mother’s day over two years ago, but I don’t think I’m going to wait for it to roll around again this time.. :’D

So have a little Watcher and his mother, Ana, who he absolutely adored, and his faithful lion toy, Little Urzan (who got ripped to shreds in his campaign 😭).

What was just a generic angry Mariner turned into a bit of a fake screenshot accidentally. While I do campaign-related ones with Watcher, this one for Mariner took a lot more artistic liberty - he did come smashing through the side of a house at one point to get the jump on some enemies, but it was a little less dramatic and dark.

While Mariner is (usually) a light-hearted, big softie, or just a downright himbo, he’s got a temper and is a bit of a brute. When I used him in a Pathfinder 2e game, and for those who aren’t au fait with the system you can create builds around skills. Mariner’s focus was intimidation (and athletics), so he could use it in combat to debuff enemies. In Pathfinder, there’s a feat that literally lets you scare someone to death with a couple of critical failures on the enemy’s part so shame he never got the chance to reach the level for it before his game petered out...

Have a mermay piece, and for a change, not something from my art backlog...

I didn't get around to doing a mermay picture last year after doing a few with Watcher and a Mariner previous years (because you've got to draw your PCs are mermaids, right?), so felt I ought to make sure I had one for this year even if it was quickly thrown together.

Only thing is, since Watcher's campaign ended I've been drawing more of his 'replacement', yet I've not shared much of him, so this guy is going to be markedly less well known. I might have been playing and drawing him for about 9 months, but I've only uploaded a couple of pieces 😅

So have the lesser known Astor, my edgy, monochrome ranger, who has a questionable relationship with silver birches (and the evil eyes that lurk in them). His design is one I'm still playing with as he never feels consistently drawn, so he'll likely look different each time I post...!

Have a reference for the new boy, Astor.

I still have a huge backlog of Watcher art to get through, but since I wanted to have a level 1 reference to see how Astor progresses and he's level 3 now, I thought it was probably best to get this out there sooner rather than later. Otherwise he'd probably be level 20 by the time I get to posting it.

So here's a snapshot of the monochrome boy before he no doubt has many clothing changes and design tweaks, either because I want it or his campaign leaves its mark on him. For now, he's just an average, numb-to-everything greyscale hunter boy... Who's most certainly not going to be my "do everything Watcher wouldn't dream of doing" character as I go from playing a holy good boy to whatever Astor will end up as...(spoilers, probably not the goodest boy, I wanted a Watcher contrast after all).

When you have a dramatic reunion with your romantic interest who's battered and bruised, and strung up in a prison cell, but your party is a bunch of immature children and dissolve into laughter because words are hard. I think I need to work on phrasing things...

When doing the lighting for this (they were in a cell that had no light aside from what filtered in from the open door and Watcher's sword), I realise that because of Watcher's sword, 99% of the time there's always going to be an orange-gold glow. I promise, it's not just I never choose other colour choices, it's just that Watcher's a walking glowstick if his weapon is out...

And once again I'm remembered how I struggle to draw women and desperately need to practice them.

My summary of art for this year, or as it's also for me the summary of what art haven't I posted yet... Call it a sneak peak, maybe?

It's usually a summary of Watcher art, but with a a couple of months of solid writing and editing coupled with his campaign coming to an end, there have been a few other faces for a change, or absolutely nothing as is the case for two months.

So (in order of appearance) there's some Watcher, Grayson, Jak, Mariner, Astor, Sen and Dekker. A bit of revisiting the old characters in amongst the creation of a couple of new ones.

I have a lot of old art to post still, but feel I should put a proper piece up of this guy since he's my 'replacement' for Watcher (not that he can be replaced, just he's who took over after Watcher's campaign ended and in the same world 250 years later).

So this is Astorius, or just Astor, a (Pathfinder 2e) bounty hunter ranger, who has a panther companion, Xyro. He likes work, hunting people/things down, the satisfaction of a job well done and the colour black. He's also completely monochrome, in both appearance and lacking colour vision, and is a bit muted with his feelings, emotions etc (as the result of ~something~)... I just wanted an opposite to Watcher ;D

There's likely to be a fair bit of art of him, and changing art too as I try to work out his design and change all sorts of bits and pieces as I go along! So don't be surprised if he looks different every time you see him...

I wasn't keen on it at the time and I'm still not sure now.... I just remember I had a sketch from many years ago of grumpy Watcher so decided to use it as a base for practicing.

Meet Grayson, if you haven't already, as his new, first novel is out on Amazon (this came out a couple of weeks ago, but y'know, I forgot Tumblr existed for a while...)

A slight change from my usual with Watcher, Grayson and the Rosso e Nero stories (all 11 of them) were the original novels I wrote over ten years ago before I delved into DnD and fantasy. I revisited the first one recently because I'd always enjoyed writing them and having that many full stories seems like a waste to just sit on.

The novels are somewhere between crime, thriller and sci-fi, but on the light side and are set in a relatively near future version of Las Vegas (it used to be in the 2030s, but not touching them for 12 years meant that suddenly the 2030s are closer than I'd wanted...). If you enjoy a straightforward, easy-to-read, light hearted thriller with a workaholic protagonist who loves security and surveillance more than life itself, it's worth a look ;D

Arcas is a sweet, innocent lad, just one who’s a little bit cursed as a swarmkeeper ranger accompanied by thirteen crows at all times.

He's a soft boy really, just incredibly deadly with a bow. And as soft as he is, don't turn your back on him, because he loves am exposed back as a target... You really can't outrun him.

As someone who grew up wanting to be like his childhood hero and is the paladin of the god of heroism, Watcher’s learnt that it’s not all shiny happy times and feel good moments being a hero. There’s more to it than sweeping in and saving the day at just the right time; there’s the constant weight on your shoulders, the hardest decisions to make, and the physical exhaustion and emotional drain. It tests your strength, your resolve and you can’t afford to waver because of all that could be at stake. It takes a certain type of person to persevere when it feels like you’re swimming against the tide a lot of the time. 

But in the end, despite all this, it’s worth it to make the world even a slightly better place for someone, somewhere (or so he keeps telling himself when his sanity is on the line).

A fake screenshot of a couple of bros being bros from a while back. As with most art from over a year ago, I can't remember what I was going for here... Aside from them both being unimpressed by something, likely someone trying to bullshit them, and Watcher being the only reason Mariner hasn't put them on their back. That and it gives me the opportunity to realise that Mariner is almost as wide as two, much more delicately built Watchers.
