Another gorgeous beauty advent calendar that as beautiful as it may be I think people are insane to be spending hundreds on an advent Calendar. Especially since most people are buying them for themselves a pre-holiday gift like yeah I wish I was that rich hah.

If I was though I’d go for the ones with a mix of brands however. I do have a mega weakness for Dior especially since though not advertised as a selling point their products are gluten free.

Which as crazy as it sounds literally it makes a mega difference for my skin if that damn Ingredient that can be under 150 diff names is in my products or not. Also they are cruelty free which is another huge ordeal when I shop for products.

Back in the past when MAC makeup was the best of the best I was a complete MAC girl with the locking fireproof carry case and all lol. They had a spray foundation I was obsessed with when it was discontinued I was truly heartbroken, dude I’m still over here missing it’s time saving and airbrush amazements, the only brand I’ve found that makes anything similar in application/format is Dior. I love that stuff like no other but I got super pale so now my $65 foundation doesn’t match. Mega bummer especially since I do have the universal set spray that was discontinued and the priming spray original lol. Yes each of those cans was $65-$85. Im gonna try Santa this year to get foundation since literally I have zero that match and having to always contour insanely if I want to wear foundation is a lot of work for a day to day face look aha.

I did get their eye and lip holiday palette last year as a gift and I will tell you it’s amazing and so pretty I will never depot that I mean the design where it’s a quilted padded exterior is great protection and a zipper closure like never wil I drop that and have it be brreaking or pans popping out of it ever. Genius

I really want to make a proper review for this, because I love this so much I wanna cry because I'm now consuming it's near end. 😭 But, you know those days when "you just can't?". . But here's a shortlist: @cosrx Aloe Soothing Sunscreen . - soothing. Aloe Vera extract !!! I don't mind using this over active pimples because it actually helps calming them. - also moisturizing and leaves you with that "dewy" finish. I'm using emulsion on the morning for moisturizer and it compliments this very well. - doesn't leave a white cast. NO! I'm never a walking ghost on mid-day with this one. - never broke me out. - unscented. - could be use as a primer (atleast for me) I only apply loose powder after this nowadays skipping cushions because I feel like it's already enough. By that, I mean Chemical Acid Exfoliation. (AHA and BHA)

I know it sounds scary. I mean why would you deliberately put ‘chemical’ or ‘acid’ onto your skin. I mean will it not burn? Isn’t ‘Chemical’ bad?

Fear not, dear skinthusiastic! Today we will break it down on what exfoliation is, its benefits, the types of exfoliation and why your traditional scrub such as Apricot, Walnut, Sugar, Towel, Brush and Vodoo magic is proving to be bad for your skin. 

First up, exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Our skin naturally renews itself around every 30 days. A build-up of dead skin cells will lead to a lot of problems such as clogged pores, acne, hyperpigmentation, dull and tired looking skin. Exfoliating regularly helps us tackle these problems along with other benefits such a better penetration of skincare products, increased cell turnover for beautiful radiance and glowy skin. Thats the basic of exfoliation. 

Now what is Chemical Acid Exfoliation? There are two ways through which you can exfoliate your skin. Physical and Chemical. Physical exfoliation is anything that contains small particles, or any sort of textured surface, like a washcloth that work by manually scrubbing away the dead skin and debris. Where as Chemical exfoliation is the use of gentle acids to melt and remove dead skin cells. Note: Over exfoliation is really harmful as it effects our skin barrier making it weaker which in returns breaks havoc onto our skin. 

There are two types of chemical exfoliation. Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA). AHA is a water soluble acid which gentle exfoliates the outermost layer of the skin. It is generally recommend for dry and sensitive skin type. AHAs are derived from natural substances and remove the “glue” that holds dead skin cells together. So if your skin concerns revolves around sun damage, uneven skin texture and pigmentation then I recommend giving AHAs a try. AHA includes Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Gylcolic Acid, Critic Acid and Tartaric Acid. 

BHA acids are oil soluble and breaks down the bonds between cells thus they can penetrate deeper layer of the skin getting inside the pores to clear it out. BHA also have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties thus ideal for acne prone and oily skin type. So if your skin concerns are blogged / congested pores, acne, hyperpigmentation, blackheads, large pores and milia then BHA is a really good exfoliation to consider. Salicylic acid is probably the most familiar BHA as an active ingredient. Either are available in varying percentages, and you can work your way up. Caution: Do not dive into the highest percentage while choosing a chemical exfoliates if you are starting off. The Higher percentage of acid does not necessarily mean better or faster results. Stick to the general rule of thumb i.e. work your way up unless you want to look like a ripe tomato. 

Physical exfoliation are not preferred in the beauty community much. Most of physical exfoliates are harsh and abrasive on the skin, leading to dryness and irritation. It also causes micro tears on our skin which is harming our skin barrier and leaving it vulnerable and prone to irritability. But pause before you throw away that exfoliater, there are other physical exfoliation that are mild, gentle yet effective. I personally recommend having a good combination of both chemical and physical exfoliation (No overdo, please). Enzymes are also a good exfoliater. Such as rice enzymes, bamboo extracts, green tea and pumpkin enzymes are very mild and less irritating. But Enzymes are your “High maintenance Girlfriend”. It requires a certain temperature and PH and any changes in their environment can make them unstable and useless. No direct sunlight and cool room temperature. Period.

Summer time is my worst enemy. Why? It’s because of the heat. I don’t know why but my face finds it hard to stay healthy during this time. - Current skin condition: 👉🏼 acne breakouts (probably because of swear mixing with dirt/bacteria and oil) 👉🏼 rough and bumpy 👉🏼 acne scars 👉🏼 dark spots 👉🏼 oily skin - Any product recommendations? My skin type is combination, sensitive and acne-prone. I’ll be posting my current skincare routine and I would really appreciate recommendations from skinthusiasts or from people with the same skin condition as mine. So far, listed below are the kind of products I am currently using: 1. Cleanser w/ glycolic acid 2. I avoided oil-based moisturizer 3. Sheet masks with tea tree, cica and green tea (anything that can calm and soothe my skin) 4. Clay mask that unclogs my pores (this is obvious I only use Apotheke’s) 5. Spot Treatment and a Cream with Centella Asiatica - Though none of the products above-mentioned worsened my skin condition, none also helped in solving my current skin issue. I have tried my OGs but they were not enough (or am I being impatient, Skin condition has been like this for 2 weeks already) I’m a bit hesitant to use other products in my stash that I haven’t used yet. - Anyway, stay hydrated, people!
