Rewatching Teen Wolf all over again because it’s my comfort show.
The last time I rewatched I recognized how JD took mythology and pretty much shat on it. It appears he thinks the fans are stupid.
And it’s not my first time at rewatching (as again my comfort show), because I noticed on a previous occasion that most of the writing had discrepancies. Like was the sherif there or not when his wife died? And how old really is Derek? First he was only 19. Then Derek was made older because guessing since the fans liked the scenes between Hoechlin and O’Brien. Like JD really thought the fans would forget his age was changed?
Also where does Stiles get his nickname from maternal or paternal grandfather? Discrepancies from the first season episode 5 to the season where he was taken by the ghost riders.
In season 2 when Gerard says to Allison she’s almost eighteen but in season 1 she turns 18. wtf!
In season 3 Lydia alludes to Stiles not being human when she says to leave the figuring out to someone human, when they didn’t know who was doing the sacrificing.
Now I’m focusing on how literally JD shat on Derick Hale. Repeatedly. It wasn’t bad enough this character was abused as a child, but then his entire family was brutally murdered. Then he’s left alone and just more crap keeps happening to him. Of course the first thing he does is try to get a pack. He can’t be an omega.
He’s also dealing with trauma of being in shame, the his family is murdered, which adds even more shame and more trauma because he feels responsible for the deaths Derek’s also only a few years older than Scott, Stiles and the rest. He’s not going to be amazing at being an alpha initially. He’s a traumatized older teen or young adult. He didn’t want to be an Alpha. Nor was he ever given a proper chance. He didn’t have guidance. Wtf Deaton. You couldn’t help him?
Beginning of season 3 when they had to do the ice bath sub consciousness thing with Isaac why did it take two wives to hold Isaac down. Poor Isaac whose already been through to much had to have claws in his neck and then practically drowning. But only took one person to hold down Scott, Alison and Stiles. Did Isaac have that darkness around him also?
Then in season 3B they mentioned that Stiles plays chess. But in season 1 they say only the Sheridan plays. Do JD and his writers really think people do not pay attention? If they care about ratings then care about the loyalty and intelligence of fans. But instead they just baited us and made us seem insane.
Season 4 episode 6, when stiles and Lydia are trying to see Meredith, Parrish tells Bronsky that he was caught blowing a breathalyzer test in Canaan. Later on we learn Canaan has existed in decades. JD thinks we’re fools.
But Derek was also too young to have had to find a new pack, when his family was brutally murdered. Perhaps that’s why he was grumpy. He was desperate.
A few months ago he had to end his girlfriends life as she was brutally attacked. Giving power to the nemeton. Which then gave power to Julia/jennifer/darach. Come on now.
Then flipping Kate somehow makes him a kid again and he has to deal with losing his powers.
Pack means everything to wolves. He again couldn’t be an omega. And to have to do it semi alone and then truly alone. Then trying to help a bitten werewolf understand what being a wolf means.
Plus he also has to live in the place his family was killed.
Then his damn groomer returns.
Then his little sister comes back and he chooses to make himself a punching bag for her and Boyd. He is always truly sacrificing himself.
Then his asshole uncle can’t remember if he’s good or bad but keeps abusing him! Peter was also never much of a help when Derek were youngsters.
Then a flipping dark Druid abuses him too. Like leave Derek the fuck alone. Don’t even get me started on the garbage Teen Wolf movie. That was utter and absolute garbage.

When you’re the most-watched drama on broadcast television (and for four years in a row), you probably don’t need advice on what to do and not do. And yet here we are, NCIS.
The most recent season of the well-watched drama aimed to deliver a 22-episode string of character-centric episodes, opening with a mini NCIS: Hawai’i crossover that resolved the mystery of Parker’s seemingly deceptive ex-wife Vivian and then at midseason delivering a 3-way NCIS universe team-up.
Season 20 gave us more of the “Dad” side of McGee (albeit with no actual kids; more on that below!)… introduced Jessica’s sister Robin… revisited the case that put Parker’s old FBI partner in a wheelchair… explored Jimmy’s relationship with growing daughter Victoria… repeatedly taunted us with Russian spies… and gave Torres a blast or two from his enigmatic past.
Speaking of Nick, NCIS left us with the chilling image of him seated across from the man who had abused his mother for years, brandishing a gun and seemingly dead-set on payback.
Looking ahead to whenever Season 21 hits our screens (NCIS, like all of CBS’ scripted fare, is hoped to be back at “mideason” after the strikes are resolved), here is what we do (and don’t) want to see happen. Review our picks then share your own wishes in comments!
WANT: A visit with McGee's whole family
Since the character’s debut in Season 11, Margo Harshman’s Delilah has made 18 total appearances — yet she is barely averaging one-per-season in recent years. And much more conspicuously, we haven’t seen Tim and Delilah’s twins, Johnny and Morgan, since the November 2017 episode in which they were born. References to the rugrats are nice, but we are way, way overdue to see Tim and Delilah parent some actual human beings.
WANT: A tougher, alpha Torres
Maybe it’s just us, but…. Has NCIS never quite made up it’s mind on who Nick Torres is? The past couple of seasons certainly have us wondering.
During his overlap with Ellie Bishop, Torres seemed tougher. Much more of an alpha male. But one who is always hiding (hiding) a sliiightly goofy side. And in the immediate wake of Ellie’s sudden exit, he was shown to be brooding over that loss.
But as of late, Torres seems to more often be the butt of a joke — à la “Hey everyone, Nick doesn’t know this thing, ha-ha!” — than the one cracking the joke. And that makes it harder to connect with the material when suddenly the character is needed to be some, like, badass undercover convict.
Heading into Season 21, we’d like the show to make up its mind about Nick and bring back some of the swagger the undercover vet arrived with.
WANT: Big moves for Jimmy/Jess
One of the very best things NCIS has done in recent years was the incredibly deft handling of this workplace friendship caught fire — from its oh-so-sweet onset to Jess’ treatment of Jimmy’s gunshot wound, from the whole “disclosure form” thing to the blurted “I love you” to Jess wondering about her place in the widower’s life. It’s just been perfect so far, and played wonderfully by Brian Dietzen and Katrina Law. So let’s ride that wave and see the couple tackle at least one major milestone in Season 21, be it cohabitation or a “family adventure” B-story with Victoria.
WANT: Bring back Brigid Brannagh!
It was an unexpected delight to see Army Wives vet Brannagh pop up during Season 20 as Constance Miller, a U.S. Senator with whom Gary Cole’s Alden Parker shared more than a little chemistry. Alas, their eventually revealed insta-romance got derailed when Alden kinda sorta bluntly suggested that Constance was a traitor in cahoots with Russian spies. There’s no “I’m Sorry” greeting card for that, but it’d be great to see the senator again.
Or, if Constance’s instinct was right — that Alden is still carrying a torch for ex-wife Vivian — let’s see Teri Polo again.
WANT: An update on Gibbs... or Bishop... or 'Tiva'... or....
We know that Mark Harmon chose to step away from the role of Gibbs after 18-plus seasons, and Emily Wickersham… actually, why did her run as Bishop end?
Anyway, the point we’re getting to is that while it is understandable that long-running characters such as Gibbs, Bishop, Tony and Ziva will at some point ride off into the (Alaskan or otherwise) sunset, at some point it gets rather odd to not hear a single peep about them!
Yes, the NCIS showrunner has suggested that offering no updates on Gibbs allows the character to “be everywhere and anywhere all at once” (or words to that effect), but can we hear any little something on Bishop, who abruptly kissed Nick good-bye in the Season 18 finale to go be an undercover operative? Or hear tell of what happened when Ziva, who was resurrected and resurfaced for a bit in Seasons 16/17, caught back up with baby daddy DiNozzo (who has been off-screen since Season 13)?
Abby gets the occasional nod; it seems simple enough to do the same for other gone-but-not-forgotten team members.
DON'T WANT: More crises for poor Kasie
In just the past few seasons, forensics whiz Kasie (Diona Reasonover) has cheated death during a shooting at the diner… been held at gunpoint in the squad room by an escaped serial killer… been exposed (along with Jimmy) to a deadly biotoxin… and, most recently, saw her Thanksgiving spent with Jess get crashed by the gun-waving con man who’d been wooing Jess’ sister.
We’ve seen the toll that all of this has taken on Kasie — she quietly began training in Krav Maga! — so it’d be great for her to maybe go all of Season 21 without another brush with death.

Chapter Summary: This is not your home.
An autopsy of faith, a congregation of corpses, a murder of faithful crows, gathered in the humble lights of cadaverous sanctity, claiming nothing more than the air they rattled through the desiccated woodsheds of their bodies, singing softly that this is not our home.

There are things in the woods deeper and darker than any devil mentioned in Pastor Rogers’s Bible, forces of evil so malignant they would laugh in the face of any God — Christian or otherwise — foolish enough to face them in their own domain.
Eugene Paul Tucker is no God.
Not by any claim of his, no, and most definitely not by any judgment they would cast upon him, them foremen and watchers in the mines or the hootin’ and hollerin’ congregation which descended ‘pon the Tabernacle’s worship hall every Sunday, acting like them hymns could go and cover up the sins of the flesh they partook in when the bells stopped ringin’. No, Eugene Paul Tucker is no God.
If you ask his sister Estus, newly promoted t’matriarch of the Tucker clan since Granny Mabel finally breathed her last, Eugene Paul Tucker was barely a man.
Men, she’d’ve sneered if you asked her, prolly while porin’ over her cannin’ like she always did come harvest time, like a good matriarch ought, Don’t go off an’ lose their fool wives in the woods.
Not a God and barely a man, but deep in the domain of the things in the woods deeper and darker than devil mentioned in Pastor Rogers’s big, bound-leather Bible, alone.
Now, that’s a deadly proposition in itself, bein’ alone in the deep-dark. Granny always warned ‘em, spittin’ tobacco an’ Hellfire while she raved about them bears and adders and lord-only-knows-what, ‘bout them beasts who ripped ‘part her favorite daughter-in-law.
Granny woulda thrown a right conniption fit if she found out Gene’d lost his wife in the same haint-damned woods which took his own momma.
Good thing she was dead.
… not so good for him.
Eliza! Lizzie, girl, c’mon! Ain’t no reason t’go runnin’ off, sweetheart!
The woods crack under his feet, twigs bend and break with each heavy press of his minin’ boots on the thick underbrush, Lizzie! Good God, woman, come on home! Woods ain’t no place for you or the baby!
The baby.
Lord in Heaven above, his baby. What sort of damn fool loses his wife and baby? Wife and baby on the day of her — the baby’s, mind you — own christenin’, t’boot.
Same sort of man who fails to tell his wife just what sort of future lay in front of their new child, the promise of her namin’ was about to carry, the deal he made to make it out alive from the mines.
A life for a life, blood for blood, what you make I will take.
Anything.
Anything to keep the man in the mine’s hands from his throat, t’keep him alive in that deep dark, keep the coal from turnin’ into a catacomb.
We had a deal, the voice behind him is the rumble of an exploding mine, shaking earth and searing screams, molten flesh and soulless husks left to be sobbed over by the wives and babies left behind. Eugene Paul narrowly manages to avoid falling to his knees at the sound, goes still as the stone he’s mined since he was a boy of eight. There will be time to beg later, he tells himself, though he has no idea how much time or how much later he has.
We had a deal, Eugene Paul Tucker, the voice repeats, billowing smoke filling his lungs as his name is called and he turns, slowly, reluctantly, faces the darkness before him and the two glittering embers boring into his soul.
N-now hang on! He protests, facing his accuser, I still — I gotta find her, that’s all. I’ll bring her back, Lizzie’s a good girl. She ain’t been gone for that long, she’ll listen!
It is a lie. Of course it is, and his accuser only laughs, the high metallic ring of pick-ax on stone, of escaped gases meeting an errant spark, You are out of time, Eugene Paul Tucker. You are out of time, and we have come to collect.
And while Eliza-Anne Tucker runs, to be found by the Pennsylvania State Troopers called to investigate the sound of a cryin’-baby-that-definitely-wasn’t-no-goddamn-fox, the only remnants the woods leave of Eugene Paul Tucker are his big leather boots.
Family, we are blessed this day.
Pastor Rogers has a voice like a cave-in, closes around you like it’s trying to choke you, fills your lungs with worship and coal, pours over you with a roar and you swear your very chest aches as he begins to speak from his carved bone-and-antler pulpit.
Family, we are truly blessed this day.
Before you, a man who is secretly a mountain bellows scripture out with the force of a raging forge, salvation seeping in through the gaps in the windows and snaking around a rapt congregation, their voices already raised up in a discordant choir of holy praise and pleading to a Lord who you do not completely believe is actually as merciful as the good Pastor pretends.
Beside you, a coal-and-fire hand rests on your knee, traces the outlines of the polka dots decorating your new Church dress, a present from the Pastor’s own wife, Welcome to the Holler, honeysweet, and you do everything your power has to look at no one. Not him, not the Pastor and his eyes like ice, not Aunt Estus busy corralling her boys or Uncle Cletus glaring from the very back — where he apparently always sat ‘cause he couldn’t last ten minutes without sucking down a cigarette and the Tabernacle had a strict no-smoking rule courtesy of the Women’s Auxiliary’s health campaigns.
Your hands, you decide, currently holding the family Bible which brought you here in the first place, are a much safer thing to look at.
Now, I ask you, family, I ask you — why? A pause as the Pastor surveys his flock, listens to the hum of the Holy Spirit pulse through the room, smug surety on his face as his lips stretch wide into that tombstone smile you almost — almost — recall having seen before, and immediately regret looking up at.
Your momma’s memories may have belonged to her and her alone in life, but death has a way of bringing people together.
At the front of the room, Pastor Rogers continues to boom, Family. Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, we are blessed this day because one of our lambs has returned to us. Our Lamb has returned home. High above you, the rafters echo his voice — home home home hallelujah.
The congregation rises in chorus, a palace of Amen and Hallelujah and Thank you, Lord, built, brick-by-reverent-brick, all around you and you hold back the destructive scream rising in your throat — this is not my home — while your mouth floods with metal and you realize you have bitten your tongue.
Blood for blood.
Family, the Lord is our Savior and our Shepherd. He maketh us lay in green pastures and we thank Him, Family, for the Glory and the Grace, we thank Him for His Love and he thank Him for He has Shepherded our prodigal daughter home. Welcome our daughter back to the flock, won’t you, Family, won’t you say hello?
You could almost drown in it.
Maybe you do, drown in wave after wave of blessings and praise and Hallelujah, Amen all accompanied by the harsh, guttural babbling of what you can only hope is the power of the Holy Ghost descending upon the faithful flock of the Tabernacle of the Holy Trinity, all watched over by the cave-in collapse of Pastor Rogers and his roaring voice, arms outstretched as shadows twist around that bone-and-antler pulpit.
Run.
There are lights in the woods.
You almost don’t notice them at first, stepping out of the Tabernacle’s worship hall as the Sunday Sermon comes to an end and a meal is laid out for the faithful — and the lapsed, you consider, wondering how much they would really welcome you home if your mother hadn’t left the Church the way she did. Almost.
See — just like your momma’s second husband used to tell you when the drink set in and the drill instructor came out — almost only works when you’re playin’ horseshoes and hand grenades. And seeing the green lights in the woods just on the outskirts of town, well, that’s a zero-sum game.
So, standing on the back porch of the Tabernacle of the Holy Trinity while the town of Bell’s Holler buzzes around you with plates and hungry bellies, you see the lights in the woods.
And oh Lord, they see you.
Like lantern lights, swaying faintly in a still breeze, held aloft by invisible hands. A path of phosphorescent mystery and calling voices, beckoning you into the yawning mouth of the inevitable.
Right down the path your momma took, straight into them shadow trees, the hungry embrace of something greedy and unknowable, waiting. Waiting for you to come back home, back to where you belong.
Your throat aches. The collar tugs.
You runnin’ off already, kitten? Sergeant Barnes’s voice is ash and honey, flowing into your senses and tearing you away from the freedom just beyond that copse of trees at the edge of town.
You turn. Too quick, too hurried, too startled, too stupid to realize how close you are to the edge of the porch until that coal-and-fire hand you’ve seen in your nightmares dreams is wrapped around your wrist and dragging you away from a backbreaking tumble, right into the hard wall of the Sergeant’s chest and too close to him from any comfort you might draw from the impromptu rescue.
S’I said — you runnin’ off already, kitten? Somethin’ in the woods catch your eye?
You may not have been smart enough to heed your momma when she told you to never come to these haint-damned woods but you are clever enough to know when to hold your tongue — telling the good Sergeant anything about the lights in the woods would just get back to your Aunt Estus and she was already so adamant on outstaying your vacation here at the Holler. That was your route out, you could feel it in your bones. As long as you timed it right.
You startled me, you accuse instead, breezing past his own suspicion with another bright, marketing manager smile, peeling yourself from his chest and standing on your own — further away from the edge this time.
Just in case.
Coal-dark eyes train on you as you pull away, moving faster than you expected you would after being caught by him but not trapped by him. Not yet, at the very least.
Instead, all the good Sergeant does is smile. Thinkin’ ‘bout runnin into those woods like your momma did? You sure we’ll let you go this time, sweetheart?
Excuse me?
The pitch of your voice rises, not the soft thing you were raised to be — your momma couldn’t put the fire in you out, nor did she ever really want to, ‘cept when it came to you tryin’ to burn your way out of her clutches — but the good Sergeant before you barely reacts except to expand his smirk… and stalk closer to you.
Think we didn’t learn our lesson from Eliza runnin’ off into the woods, sweetheart? Don’t be silly.
I don’t know what you’re talking about, you lie, you lie you lie you lie, still stepping back, avoiding his eye, avoiding his grip, avoiding his accusations.
Tellin’ lies ain’t your thing, sweetheart.
I told you, I don’t know what you’re talking about, I—
He cuts you off, fingers cold on your cheek as he takes hold of your jaw and pushes you back, trapped between the hate-cold of his eyes and the hard-brick of the house of the Lord, Always on the run, aren’t you kitten? How far do you think you’ll go before I catch you, huh? Wanna test it out? Could even give you a head start, if you ask nice, sweetheart.
Your teeth ache from the pressure, grit and grinding, fingers curled against unyielding metal and you mirror his hate, trying to pry him away, Let… let me go—
You think I’m gonna let you get away so quickly? I’ve been waiting a lo—
Sergeant Barnes, there you are!
Ma Rogers is just like you remember from your first morning here, sweet orange and sunshine, sauntering her way across the back lawn of the Tabernacle. Comfortable in her gravidity, swollen with the pride of a new generation growing in her belly, a queen in her own right commanding the Kingdom of the Lord, James Buchanan Barnes, I been lookin’ for you all over God’s creation an’ here you are, harassin’ our guest, where are your manners? Pastor’s been hollerin’ for you, so go on, git!
Cool air washes over you and fills your lungs, replacing smoke and fire with the warm spring of honeysuckle and fresh rain as the grip on your jaw is released and Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes turns around, looks properly abashed at the sound of the matriarch of Bell’s Holler’s ire and you know in your bones that this is not a woman to be trifled with.
A woman you are grateful for more than you can name in this moment, as she makes her steady way up the porch and points a slender finger that does not look as work wizened as you know they are, having seen her wrist-deep in her garden plenty of times since your arrival to town, since the first time you spent sipping tea and nibbling bites of apple cake in her parlor while the Pastor and the Foreman went about whatever business it was a Pastor and a Foreman needed to do in the dark edges of town. Now don’t let me catch you causin’ trouble again, James Buchanan Barnes, I know you been raised better than that.
You almost expect her tirade to last longer, shrill and rapid enough to give the Sergeant — looking less like a leader of men and more like a boy bein’ scolded by his granny — no room to interject, defend himself, stop her verbal lashing, but it ends just as soon as it begins, this time with the Sergeant slinking off into the crowd to deal with whatever it was the Pastor needed him for.
Whatever it is, you do not — and cannot bring yourself to — care. Senses fixated on the sanctuary of your savior’s presence, rescued a second time and just as grateful and shocked by it, you just lean yourself against the hard brick and breathe, steadying the race of your heart and trying to find the strength in you to smile. Thank you, managed a little hesitantly, still watching the Sergeant’s retreating back until he was gone into the crowd.
Don’t you fret, honey, Ma Rogers sets down the basket she’d been carrying against her hip, full up of canned vegetables she’d brought from her stores to share with the… less fortunate members of town, as the Virtue of Charity demanded of all citizens of the Holler with the means to do so, That no-good fool of a Foreman’s bark’s worse than his bite. I’ll make sure the Pastor sets him right — Lord knows he ought to know better than start his antics up on a Sunday.
She rambles slightly, hands on her hips and glancing back like she too might be making sure the Sergeant knew he’d been beat, just for now, If it wasn’t the Lord’s day itself, I’d’ve tanned his hide — but that’s neither here nor there, c’mere, honey, lemme get a look at you. Did he hurt you any?
Your jaw feels bruised and still, you just shake your head, offering as quick a smile as you can manage, No ma’am, thank you. Just startled me.
The tut of her tongue is disbelief, but dismissal all the same, No use pressing, is the unspoken agreement between the both of you, and you… accept that.
No use pressing.
Somewhere below, a cry goes up from the crowd, a call from one of the Rogers’s girls to come fill empty plates and sate hungry bellies and before you can ask any more questions, Ma Rogers beckons you forth, Let’s get a meal in you, honey, afore you start lookin’ as you might keel over again.
And as you follow her down the porch steps over to the banquet set before you, you forget about the yawning mouth of the unknown and the path wound through the green, calling you into the darkness of the inevitable.
It does not forget you.

mswyrr replied to your post “omg the polygamists are suddenly moving out of their houses because...”
where does this mofo get enough money for all this shit???? and four wives??? how do i have enough money to have four wives/??? lol
THEY ARE SO FUCKING UNCLEAR ABOUT WHERE THESE PEOPLE MAKE THEIR MONEY, I WONDER ABOUT THIS TOO TBH
like 3/4 wives have jobs and they’re all in “business” but at least 3 of the business ventures we’ve seen on the show seem so fucking sketchy and like they are absolute money pits. I’m sure TLC pays them decently, because they probably demand cash for every single member of the family who appears on the show and there’s like 23942093842098 of them, but they also have 18 children and are always putting children through college and throwing huge weddings and taking luxury vacations. He seems to be in “investments” which is super vague and they’ve said before that they don’t want to talk about some of their businesses because of the stigma associated with polygamy (which is why they moved to Vegas from Utah in the first place)
but these aren’t like the scammers on 90 Day Fiance who are dirt poor, these people are either absolutely swimming in debt or getting money from SOMEWHERE. Like I know TLC pays the people on 90DF like absolutely nothing -- something ridiculous like a grand per episode and the foreigners get nothing because they’re immigrants and can’t legally work in the US, but these cultists are in season 14 of their show and so far don’t have a creepy scandal like the Duggars so they’re probably making pretty good money off TLC, I’m guessing.
but like, one of the wives, her “business” is this crappy style website called “My Sister Wives’ Closet” which is based on this idea of like... borrowing fashion and jewelry from your Sister Wives? and they designed all this clothing and jewelry based on the concept? Without thinking that NO ONE who isn’t a polygamist really wants to wear polygamist branding rofl? And now the website is currently “down for maintenance.”
another of the businesses is that one of the other wives lost a bunch of weight and then decided to become a motivational speaker (???) but she has since gained it back and we have not heard a fucking thing about this motivational speaking venture since she pitched it and borrowed the startup money from the family
and the other is that Wife 1 bought the bed & breakfast and then was like idk I don’t want this to be a bed & breakfast I want my mother to live there and I did check and she is apparently still running it as a bed & breakfast but I also wonder how often it’s actually booked lol

"I want...I want you with me Asuna, always. I want you to come with me...and I...I know that's asking a lot, but the truth is...I can't do this without you!”
- Kazuto “Kirito” Kirigaya, Sword Art Online: Alicization (Ep. 01)
"Of course, I’ll go anywhere with you. It doesn't matter where, I’ll go."
- Asuna Yuuki
The Toonami Trending Rundown for February 9-10, 2019. After a 3 year hiatus, Kirito and Asuna make their return to their US broadcast home in Toonami as Sword Art Online begins the highly anticipated Project Alicization story arc with a 1 hour season premiere. And among other great moments, Kirito enters yet another new game in the Underworld and befriends Eugeo and Alice, while Dragon Ball Super begins the Tournament of Power, and Kira hunts down Shigechi for finding out about his “limb secret”.
On Twitter, Sword Art Online was welcomed back with open arms as it trended in the US alongside JoJo’s, Black Clover, Hunter x Hunter, and Shippuden. Character trends were also spotted with Kirito, Shigechi and the Killer Queen (Kira’s stand name), as well as Shino (we’re not sure if it’s because of Shino from Naruto or Sinon/Shino Asada). On Tumblr, Toonami would trend alongside #BNHA, #JJBA, Attack on Titan and Naruto. The full list including statistics and tweet counts from the twitter app and Amr Rahmy’s analytics app can be seen below.
This week’s feature was a new animated music video titled “So Many Feelings” by the Hip-Hop duo EARTHGANG. You can check it out below.
youtube
Some very unfortunate news in the voice acting front to say the absolute least, as Vic Mignogna, known amongst Toonami fans as the voice of Broly, Edward Elric, Ikaku, Rohan Kishibe, and that tentacle monster that assaulted Asuna during the Fairy Dance arc, has had various sexual harassment and sexual assault allegations come to light recently, including those from Monica Rial and Jamie Machi. As a result, Funimation has fired Vic after an internal investigation, joining Rooster Teeth in doing so.
With a new season of Sword Art Online comes a new cast of characters including those with the potential to join Kirito’s infamous harem. On Friday, Aniplex and Bang Zoom announced that the original cast will return, to be joined by Kayli Mills as the voice of Alice and Brandon Winckler playing Eugeo, taking on the roles as Kirito/Bryce’s newest “Sister-Wives” (or Brother-Husband) as Michelle Ruff jokingly calls themselves.
As I mentioned in my SAO premiere article back in October, Project Alicization will be a longer journey compared to previous arcs, with this season being around 48-52 episodes long. There are however, unconfirmed reports that there will be an off-season around the mid-way point similar to what we are seeing with Attack on Titan. The Japanese broadcast is scheduled to reach that point around March 30. We’ll let you know further details about the hiatus and the 2nd half’s airing once they are announced and what Toonami’s plans are once we reach those points ahead.
Of course, there has been a lot of sour grapes from detractors saying that “Nobody wants SAO back on Toonami” and “SAO needs to be dropped so better isekai like Alternative GGO, Re:Zero, Log Horizon, Konosuba, and Overlord (among others) can be here instead”, among other things.” Yet Kirito has the last laugh in the end as SAO continues to remain as popular as it is and the previously mentioned shows haven’t even sniffed Toonami airwaves.
While I personally will show zero sympathy to those folks, for those who do want to see Alternative GGO and more isekai also join Toonami in addition to SAO, continue to support Toonami and its shows as well as politely letting Jason DeMarco and the crew know on Toonami’s Facebook and Tumblr ask boxes as well as Jason’s Ask.fm page. (Also do realize that Toonami will not be showing a SAO side story unless they show the mainline series as well, that just doesn’t make sense for various reasons.) As Bryce told me during my interview with him at the premiere, if SAO continues to succeed, perhaps fans and the Toonami crew could be hungry for more isekai shows and if Toonami continues to succeed, more shows can join the better cartoon show as well.
Tune in next week as Megalo Box returns from its week off, while Kirito continues to show that Bryce Papenbrook characters don’t die when they are killed, among other great moments. Until next week, stay gold.
Legend: The shows listed are ordered based on their appearance on the schedule. Show trends are listed in bold. The number next to the listed trend represents the highest it trended on the list (not counting the promoted trend), judging only by the images placed in the rundown. For the Twitter tweet counts, the listed number of tweets are also sorely based on the highest number shown based on the images on the rundown.

A/N #1: Here it is Part 1 of the 2-Part Finale
25. Girl Meets Hospital
A/N #2: Although rare, there are injuries that could incapacitate a baseball player.
This chapter also comes with a warning, this chapter contains material that could be sensitive to some readers, it concerns cutting, bullying, as well as thoughts of suicide.
The beginning of the baseball season had come, and Lucas was up at bat, Riley was cheering with the cheerleaders, Zay was on third base, Farkle was calculating the probability of Lucas getting a home run while Smackle asked questions about the game. Maya ignored them all paying more attention to Josh who was watching the game while she told him something in his ear.
The pitcher threw the ball at his face with full force, and before Lucas could duck the ball hit him and knocked him out cold. Riley ran up to him to check on him but he was unconscious, but she kept calling his name while squeezing his hand. She watched as the paramedic took him away, rushing to go with him on the ambulance. Their friends not far behind as Josh drove them all to the hospital while Zay called Lucas’ parents telling them what had happened.
Riley cried in the waiting room, because the doctors said only family at the moment, everyone else couldn’t figure out what happened. Except Zay said to the coach that the pitcher had done it on purpose, the ball had clocked in at over eighty miles per hour straight to Lucas’ face. They ran test on Lucas all afternoon, as his parents showed up, as Riley’s parents came with food for everyone, as Zay’s mom sat next to them telling them everything will be alright. Riley just kept on crying.
When Lucas woke up he was in his bed at home, but something felt different, his memories didn’t match what he saw. There was no picture of Riley and him at Coney Island from the summer before, it usually sat on his nightstand, there was nothing from his time at John Quincy, his trophies were labeled for a different school. There were no traces of his regular life and it seemed like he had been put in a different world. Farkle would tell him that alternate universes didn’t exist and that he should go back to sleep. When he reached for his phone, the model was different but the password was the same, Riley’s birthday, when he unlocked it all of the pictures were different. He was in a football uniform and not a baseball one, he was wearing a uniform for Thomas Jefferson High, Abigail Adams’ rival school.
“What’s happening?” he wondered pulling up his texts and seeing a multitude of girls asking for dates, but no messages from his friends.
“Lucas are you awake?” his father called. “I know you took a hit yesterday at the game but you can’t stay in bed all day.”
His door opened and his father walked in, for some reason he looked different, normally his father would have a hard edge to his voice from when he had been expelled, Riley had softened him a bit and they had gotten into a normal relationship. But the man in front of him looked like a completely different person.
“Ah you’re awake,” he said before sitting at the edge of the bed. “You should get ready for school.”
Lucas only nodded, he didn’t know what to say, something felt off and he couldn’t place his finger on the problem. It was Friday, or at least that’s what his phone said, which means they had a game the night before. He got up and went through the motions of getting ready, he said good morning to his mother only to see a middle schooler with her. He had a sister, and he didn’t know it, the girl had the same eyes as his but where his hair was more mixed brown and blonde, this girl’s hair was pure blonde.
“What’s up bro?” she said looking at him like he was staring too long.
Instead of saying anything he grabbed a banana to make his mother think like he was trying, grabbed his backpack and rushed out the door. His school ID was for Thomas Jefferson, but he went to the one place he had always went to in the morning to grab a muffin, but Topanga’s wasn’t there. Instead he was faced with a fast food restaurant that wasn’t open yet, so he walked on toward Abigail Adams hoping to find Riley, or Maya, or Farkle, hell Smackle would do but as he stood there watching the students all he saw were unfamiliar faces.
He had almost missed her, he wouldn’t have noticed if not for the fact that her hair still looked the same, and her face was a beautiful as ever, but she was alone, no Maya, no Farkle, she was dressed in black and had more make-up on than he had ever seen. Someone knocked into her and she lashed out at the person, a boy stood not too far from her, he looked just like her but taller, his head as curly as Mr. Matthews but lighter than Auggie’s. He was yelling at her for being rude but Riley only pushed him away and walked into the school.
He walked off towards where Thomas Jefferson was completely shocked, not knowing what he should do. Once inside, people joked with him as he went to his classes, he was popular at this school because he was the star quarterback and team captain. He was asked out by several girls but turned them all down and just kept going through the motions of his day. His teammates invited him to a party on Saturday, and he said yes only to get them to shut up. Everyone just thought he was in one of his moods, but they still pestered him throughout the day.
When school was over he was glad, he couldn’t stand the way everyone had treated him like he was everything in the world. He missed Zay cracking jokes, Smackle flirting with him only to make Farkle jealous, Maya pushing his buttons, and most of all he missed his sunshine, he missed Riley, his Riley and not the cussing dark girl he had seen. He had checked his phone several times, but Zay’s number wasn’t there, and when he had called Zay’s New York number a woman answered, and Zay’s Texas number was disconnected.
Wandering around he found himself in the library where he had told Riley that he wanted to be a veterinarian. He sat there hoping that the whole day was some elaborate scheme but it hadn’t been and now he was in a life he didn’t know anything about. He looked around the room and noticed that in a far off corner was a familiar orange turtleneck and a head of blonde hair.
“Farkle,” he said out loud, the librarian shushed him while Farkle looked at him like he had grown a third head. Lucas walked over as fast as he could sitting next to the genius, who was wearing an Einstein Academy uniform instead of his now signature boy band look.
“Do I know you?” Farkle asked looking at Lucas who was now sitting so close.
“Lucas Friar,” he said hoping to have some form of normalcy instead the genius started to pack up.
“You’re that football player aren’t you,” he said as he stowed away the last of his things. “We definitely don’t know one another.”
Lucas was trying to figure out how to gain his best friend’s attention when he just started talking without thinking. “Have you ever woken up and thought that everything was wrong, like nothing makes sense?”
“No,” he said as he tried to get up but Lucas pulled him back down.
“Listen to me for a minute please,” Lucas said his eyes pleading with him. “I woke up this morning and everything was wrong, you, Maya, Zay, Smackle, Cassie, and my Riley weren’t in my life, I don’t know what to do.”
“Lucas, I don’t know you,” he said looking at him confused.
“I just want to know what happened, all I remember was being at a baseball game, Riley was cheering me on, and you were calculating the probabilities of a homerun with Smackle… I got hit in the face with a baseball and the next thing I knew I was in the wrong place, even though it’s the same place. Everything I knew never existed.”
Farkle looked at him like he had grown a third head before shaking his head and standing up. “Come on lets go to my house to talk, the librarian is giving us a dirty look.”
Lucas followed feeling like his world was crashing down around him, when they reached Farkle’s almost everything was the same, except Maya’s bedroom wasn’t there.
“The train will be here in a minute,” Lucas said and Farkle looked at him.
“How do you know that?”
“I used to hang out here, with you and the girls, Zay would be playing that zombie game with Riley, with you and Smackle would do some weird experiment over there, I would play golf, while Maya drew something.”
“You really aren’t from here,” Farkle said looking around. “No one has ever been in this room, hell no one really remembers Maya, she moved away in the seventh grade.”
“They were your wives then,” Lucas sighed as he dropped down onto the couch. The train zoomed by only stopping for a moment to as the conductor asked Farkle a question before moving on. “Where is my normal life?”
“I don’t know,’ Farkle said as he sat down across from him. “I do know that a lot of things changed in seventh grade.”
“Can you tell me what happened?”
“Well, Riley started acting more and more like Maya in the seventh grade, then Maya and her mother moved to Arkansas to be closer to their family. Her mother gave up on acting because she realized it was causing her to miss her daughter growing up.”
“So she didn’t remarry?”
“Who Maya’s mom?”
“Yeah, where I’m from she married Shawn Hunter, and he adopted Maya.”
“No, actually she was a widow, her husband had died when Maya was little, and she decided that she needed to try and live her dream because life was too short. Except in the end it was causing Maya to act out because she never grieved for her father.”
“What about Riley? She was with this guy earlier, but he looked like her so I’m guess that either Auggie was born first or something.”
“No, that’s her brother Elliot, he’s two years older than her, he’s a senior at Abigail Adams, he’s their star everything, top student, athlete, debate club, student body president. Riley’s the middle child but her brothers kind of over shadowed her over the years, so she became like Maya and when Maya left she became worse. We all stopped being friends around the same time and I transferred to Einstein Academy. I haven’t talked to them since.”
Lucas couldn’t believe it, “This is too much for me.”
“I know, it’s weird, there’s no scientific explanation for any of this, but if what you say is true then there’s a world out there where Riley is a different person.”
“We all are,” he said frowning. “I have a sister that I don’t know, and the kids at school worship me, but for some reason I feel like some of them are on edge around me.”
“Well you’re kind of a bully,” Farkle said. “I know some kids who go to school with you and well they’re all afraid of you.”
“But that’s not me? I guess without Riley I’m not the best person am I?”
“Can you tell me? You know about your life?”
Lucas nodded and slowly told him about his life, the real life he lead where he went to the same school as all of them. Riley falling on his lap the first day of seventh grade, Farkle’s transformation in eighth grade, Maya’s constant name calling, even how Zay came to New York, and how Smackle joined them in high school. “You’re dating her you know, Smackle.”
“But we wouldn’t match, the probability of us being together is…”
“Farkle stop and think, you and Smackle were made for each other, you always said that like forces repel but the two of you aren’t alike at all, you just need to open your eyes to that.”
They talked for a while longer, Lucas sent a message to his mother that he was going to stay with a friend. He wanted a chance to figure it all out and Farkle was the best person to help him. The two of them looked over websites, social media, anything to try and jog his memory, but nothing worked. Lucas was stuck there and he didn’t know how to get back to where his life was as close to perfect as he could have asked for.
“Maybe you need to fix somethings for Lucas here?” Farkle suggested later that night.
“What like he needs to stop being a complete douche, and date Riley?”
“Riley might be the one thing that would bring this all together, maybe you’re here to fix what went wrong. Which means you need to learn as much as you can about the part of you that lives here.”
“But how?”
“Well what did you learn from going to school?”
“Everyone liked me, except the people who weren’t popular, all the girls asked me out, but according to my teammates I don’t like any of them so it gave me this rep as a bad boy who thinks no one is good enough for him.”
“Okay, so why wouldn’t the most popular guy in school date just anyone? Look through your phone, not the messages but the pictures. There’s something there.”
Lucas pulled out his phone and started going through the pictures like Farkle said, there were pictures with his teammates, and some girls, pictures from parties, and a folder labeled Her he opened it and saw nothing but pictures of Riley, all dating back to that day on the subway when she fell on his lap, but from the looks of the photos she had never turned around and saw him. He had ended up at a different school instead of John Quincy, but there were still pictures and pictures of Riley. From parties, to games where their schools played against one another, she was there but she didn’t look the same. As the pictures went on she wore darker clothes, and people weren’t around her. Even in this world Riley was his everything even if she didn’t know it.
“Wow, talk about stalker,” Farkle said. “I guess the best thing to do is show up at that party tomorrow, because most likely she’s going to be there.”
“She really is the center of my whole word,” he said, thinking of how she made him a better person, but without Maya, or Farkle, or even him Riley wasn’t the same person.
The two of them went to sleep soon after, and when Lucas woke up the next day and was still in Farkle’s room he knew that nothing had changed. He wasn’t home, he wasn’t in his New York, but if Farkle was right, Riley was the answer to everything. The two of them worked on a plan for him to get Riley, but they knew it was going to be hard. When they finished Lucas went home and changed his clothes for the party, saying a quick goodbye to his family as he rushed out the door.
Riley sat in the waiting room, her heart pounding in her chest as everyone she knew came in and out, the doctor had told him that the ball had reached nearly 100 mile per hour when it hit Lucas, and at that rate injury was high, especially since it hit him when he wasn’t looking. They were checking for injury to see if he had a concussion, a clot in his head or even if it had blown his pupil. For all this to happen he needed to be sedated and most likely wouldn’t be awake until the next day. His parents stayed nearby, but Riley wouldn’t move from where they had wheeled him in. Baseball wasn’t supposed to be as rough as any other sport but there were still sever injuries and it frightened her.
She kept replaying the moment in her mind, all the other cheerleaders were pumping up the crowd but she had turned around the moment he went up to bat. She was cheering him on because she wanted him to know she was there, but the pitcher had thrown a fastball when Lucas had looked down, his head only turned to meet the ball face to face. Watching him fall to the ground, as Farkle and Zay ran towards him to check if he was alright had hurt as much as if the ball had hit her. She couldn’t move, as the referees walked up, as his family walked towards them. Everything had moved so slowly, but then she felt her heart beating and her feet moving forward, running towards him. Calling his name and getting no answer, she got on the ambulance on instinct. Watching them hook him up onto the machines, checking his eye, his head, she squeezed his hand to let him know she was there.
Even with everyone telling her it was going to be alright hours later, she couldn’t get the image of Lucas unconscious on the gurney. Her cheerleading uniform still on her, she didn’t want to move afraid that if she did everything that could go wrong would. In that moment her only concern was the boy on the subway who had changed her life in so many ways, and she never got the chance to tell him how much she loved him.
The party was in full swing when he got there, all the football players greeted him with pats on the shoulder but he only had one goal, Riley. It took him a while to find her, she was in a corner of the room sipping on something inside of a red solo cup ignoring the rest of the room. Her brother was on the other side of the room talking with some girl, so Lucas took a chance and walked over to Riley.
“Hey,” he said but she rolled her eyes and turned the other way. This Riley didn’t do the Hi, Hey, Hi, that his Riley did. “Can we talk?” he asked as loud as he could without shouting.
“Why the hell would I talk to you?” she said before walking out the backdoor.
“Riley we need to talk,” he said trying to catch up to her through the crowd of people. “Please.”
He knew that the Lucas of this world liked Riley, but he didn’t say anything to her, he was content with watching her from afar. He grabbed her arm and pulled her out the side gate towards the street.
“Let go of me,” she said pulling her arm trying to get away.
“We need to talk,” he said as they reached a park and he sat her down on the swings. “This is important.”
“Right, like the big bad popular football player had anything to say that would explain him dragging a girl out of a party and to an isolated park.”
“I love you,” he said trying to get her attention. He felt bad for the Lucas from this world because he blurted out this secret crush without thinking. He hoped that the memories would be there when the guy came back, but he wanted his Riley, and he knew he loved her more than anything even if he didn’t tell her, even though he should have.
Riley laughed at him and then her face turned serious. “I don’t play games big boy, now leave me the hell alone.”
“Riley please,” he said. “What do I have to do to get you to understand that I telling the truth?”
She ignored him and kept walking away. The only thing he could hope at that moment was that Riley was still the same girl who left her bay window unlocked. He rushed towards her place, the apartment was still the same, but there were no flowers on the fire escape, no sign of the old Riley. There was a light on and she sat there looking out, so he knew he was in the right place, so he climbed the ladder and walked up to her floor trying not to make too much noise. Her window was open letting the spring air into her room but when he saw inside it wasn’t the same.
The room which had been bright and airy, with blue and purple everywhere, was black and red, from where he was all he saw was the small things that had meant that somewhere in there was the old Riley. His Riley. A purple cat in the corner, Berry the Bear Bear on the chair, and Riley’s desk in the corner near the door. The brunette sitting there, it took him a moment to realize that she had pulled her sleeve up, her arm covered in cut after cut. She had pulled out a blade and was about to cut herself again when he burst through the window and took it away from her.
“Stop,” he said as he threw it across the room. “Don’t do it.”
“What the hell are you doing here?” she screamed and he wondered if anyone would hear her. “Get the fuck out.”
“No,” he said pulling her close. “You can’t do this to yourself… Riley you can’t hurt yourself.”
“No one will care,” she said yelling at him as she pulled away and walked towards where the blade landed. He grabbed her again and pulled her close. “Stop it,” she yelled. “You don’t even know me.”
“I know you like cuddle bunnies, but you don’t tell anyone anymore because they would make fun of you. I know Berry the Bear Bear is your favorite childhood toy because your parents gave it to you before your brother Auggie was born, when you were home sick. I know Maya is your best friend in the world, and I don’t understand why she’s not here to stop this,” Riley started crying in his arms as he spoke. “You love purple cats, and you think you don’t have a talent while everyone else is good at something, even though I know you love to write about everything.”
“What are you a stalker,” she said as she sniffled, her body shaking in his arms.
“No… Well I don’t think so, but I do know that for some reason I can’t seem to date anyone else, and I’m a total jerk to everyone, but your face is all I want to see in the morning.”
“Oh please, you’re just saying that because my brother is your rival,” she said but he knew her voice wasn’t as cut throat as before. “No one cares about me.”
“Are you sure?”
“My parents praise my brothers but don’t say anything nice to me, they’ll make sarcastic remarks like how my brother is the best student but I’m good at sleeping. I have a perfect GPA, but my little brother is a prodigy. No one cares about Riley Matthews, I shouldn’t exist, hell my parents liked Maya better than me when she was still in New York, they praised her for being an Amazon Warrior but I was just the klutzy girl who tripped all over school.”
“That’s not who you are to me,” he said as he took her towards the bay window. “To me you’re a bright spot in my day, you are serious but you want the best for everyone, when you smile it’s like the sun is shining and my heart skips a beat.”
“Lucas you don’t know me,” she said but it was almost a whisper.
“I could prove to you that your life is worth something,” he said before he kissed her on the forehead. “People care, you just have to let go of the sadness and let them into your heart.”
They didn’t talk for a while, they just sat there in each other’s arms, for some reason it felt as if she was using him as an anchor, to keep her grounded to something. This Riley was falling apart, and he couldn’t understand why no one saw it.
At around midnight he realized that she had fallen asleep in his arms, so he scooped her up and tucked her into her bed. He turned to leave when he realized that she had grabbed his arm.
“Don’t leave,” she said in a quiet voice. Normally her father kicked him out around nine, but neither one of her parents came in to check on her at all.
“Where’s everyone?” he asked curious to know what was different about this version of the Matthews.
“Auggie’s probably sleeping, my parents are at some party they left a babysitter here for Auggie, I came in and just went straight to my room, and Elliot of course was at the party.”
“Do you parents check in with you before bed?”
She shook her head, “Not since Maya left,” she said her voice tired.
“What do they do?” he asked curious to see if they were the same people he knew, because for some reason something wasn’t right if they let her get to the point where she was cutting herself.
“My mom’s a lawyer, she’s the head of the firm that’s number one on Wall Street, my dad is a banker, and he works for one of the big ones, although I usually forget which one.”
That’s how he knew that everything was different, Mr. Matthews wasn’t their teacher, and Mrs. Matthews wasn’t defending the little guy. The café didn’t exist, and Riley had a brother who was the best at everything to the point where he overshadowed his sister. Maybe he needed to fix both himself and Riley before it was too late.
They talked about silly things for hours after that, and Lucas knew she was fighting to stay awake. Riley still loved cuddle bunnies, and unicorns, but her life had taken a dramatic turn when she started high school. After being bullied in middle school she had closed herself off, but the bullies had followed only now they had crushes on her brother. She didn’t make any friends because all of the girls all wanted to get close to Elliot, forgetting that she was there. When she didn’t do what they said they would push her into the bathroom stall and throw water on her until she was soaked through. They would spread rumors about her throughout the school, about how easy she was but they also said that because of that she had an STD that changed depending on the week or month.
They fell asleep next to each other after talking for what seemed like hours. When they woke up hours later, he could tell that Riley felt shy about him being there, he knew that it had something to do with what he had seen. He needed to know the why’s of what was happening in this world, and he needed to do it fast because he didn’t know how long he had here.
“Can I ask you something,” he said sitting up on her bed. “Why do you cut yourself? I know you have bullies and the school worships your brother, but why would you do that?”
“Some days, I think it’s because,” she hesitates looking down at her hands, she pulls down the sleeves of her black sweater. “It’s because I keep trying to prepare myself for eventually getting to the point where I want to die.”
Her voice was barely a whisper but he had heard her loud and clear and it hurt him to hear her say those words. This was Riley, regardless of whether or not this was his life, she was meant for so much more than what she doing in that moment. Instead of saying something, he pulled her into a hug and held her there for what seemed like forever. He felt as her body started shaking, as she started crying in his arms. This is something she was missing and he hoped that they would be able to move forward together. He hoped that the version of him in this world would protect her at all cost.
