thinking about post-prank bitchkiller again ugh. thinking about how barty would see it before sirius does: that this is just a phase for him, something he's going through - that once sirius' friends accept him back, he isn't going to talk to barty anymore, he isn't going to want to fuck in empty classrooms where they could get caught anymore, he isn't going to want to fly drunk on his broom or experiment with potions to see how fucked up they can get anymore. sirius' increasingly violent self-destructiveness is the product of a temporary circumstance, nothing more. but this is barty's life, this is the way he's always been, and he has been tricked into thinking he found someone who understood it. that is humiliating. he can see this even when sirius can't, and so he begins to resent sirius, all while clinging more and more desperately onto him because he knows it's fleeting. it's going to end - sirius is going to go back to a more normal and much healthier version of himself, and barty is going to be stuck like this, forever. the only thing he can do is try to yank sirius so far down that he doesn't remember how to climb back up.

barty is thrown into the cell next to sirius'. they both hate this and appreciate the irony of finding themselves ending up in the same place as the person they despised for years. they spend the first week arguing and insulting and screaming at each other.

and then one particular bad night barty wakes up from a nightmare and found sirius talking to the regulus star. next things you know they're sharing stories about regulus, sirius from when they were children, and barty from when they were teenage boys at hogwarts.

they end up bonding over the person they both love and their grief. they both appreciate the irony in their only source of comfort being the person they despised for years.

barty is crass and insensitive and very fucking smart. he make sirius laugh and sirius finds himself asking about barty’s own tattoos as the man etches into his skin. barty is wicked and he’s damn good with the tattoo gun.

the encounter ends with barty following sirius out for a smoke that has sirius pressed up against the side of the shop in the alleyway, his shirt rucked up and barty’s wicked mouth on his neck.

if sirius didn’t have a boyfriend, then james won’t mind hearing all about this encounter later. maybe james will even want a taste of barty for himself.

...what kind of addict is Barty?? idk but Sirius is definitely connecting their mouths for this, he'd blow smoke on Barty's face?? Or directly into his mouth?? It doesn't work at first, Barty would scoff and taunt Sirius for this, deny himself even though he badly wants it until Sirius does that. I think it gets pretty sexual at some point too. Then Sirius brings up Voldy killing Regulus and Evan? (he didn't, but Sirius is manipulative here, I think) Emotional attacks? He's on Barty's lap, soothing, comforting, petting him.

And it messes with Barty. His only emotional support system is gone now so Sirius saying this shit really gets to him?? Plus the drugs are getting to his brain too so his loyalty is weakening.

Sirius even promises to break out Barty because of past affections? Do they have history? Either that or because he's Regulus's bestie?

And he isn't allowed to do any of this obv, the entire...method and promising that stuff, but he will do it. He isn't even that antagonistic to Barty even though Barty is a well known muggle killer??
