Idk if it's me getting older or less fandom brained but I don't really get the 'shipping' impulse for the most part. Like I have to either REALLY believe a romantic angle is being intentionally written (and I tend to go into things with a hard skeptic angle to avoid disappointment LOL), or be really desperate for a femslash option (and even then it has to be at least a little plausible to me).

Like I do get heavily invested in fictional characters' relationships but it's usually more of an 'as-is' thing. I don't really understand the appeal in putting characters together romantically/etc just because you Can.

Rogers and Weaver would so get on Emma and Hook’s nerves. I mean, 1) it would be hilarious to see Hook’s face when he realized that a version of him married Rumple, that mental image waters my crops (but doesn’t overwater them) and curates my garden

And 2) Rogers and Weaver are probably the single most annoying pair of detectives to have running around any district you’re supposed to be sheriffing. Intentional lack of communication, air of shadiness, and I just know it would drive Emma crazy that they’re actually pretty good at being detectives. Maybe the Killians would have competitions to see who could solve the most cases in a month, but Emma wouldn’t be able to stand when Weaver solved a case she couldn’t.

Y'all are really comin' to me thinkin' I know everything about this novel heheh. I really don't mind, but I can only answer so much before it travels deep into speculative territory on a piece of media that has technically already released (just not fully translated to English yet). My knowledge of this novel only goes so far! My... k-novel-edge... *drum set explodes in the distance*

First question: couldn't really say! It would be very ironic if that really is what happens or is implied by the end of the story. Trainee Yuka gets to go on all these mystery-solving adventures with the detectives we know n love before she gets a ticket to the Amaterasu Express for her first mission as a certified Master Detective! Nothing could possibly go wrong (bonus points if Yuka was on a train one of the NDA detectives were on, extra points for heartbreaking angst)! But I do have to wonder what timeframe this novel, and maybe even its individual chapters, take place in Rain Code's timeline so far. Ah well, perhaps my own queries shall be answered someday, somehow.

As for the potentials in pairing Halara and Yuka, I think I could vibe with it! It's like a different flavor of Clockmare when ya think about it. Yuka is a bit ditzy and eager, always willing to learn and show off her abilities, while Halara keeps her grounded with their wisdom and straightforwardness. They should foster cats together honestly.
