Belated 2024 parts collection!

These are a few video parts I did for a collab and a couple MEPs (Multi-Editor Projects) last year. While I would have liked to participate in more, I'm glad I managed three. It was fun to try editing with other sources than just Detective Conan—and to focus on a different aspect of DetCo than I usually do with Sonoko and Makoto in the one Conan part!

The first part (using the anime film Belle and the Wicked song "What Is This Feeling?") is one of five that I edited for the DynamIC Duos collab event at BentoVid. Participants were secretly paired up to make an AMV to the theme "Opposites," and there was a bit of a game of guessing the pairs... but I was pretty obvious because of my subtitles! Still, it was great working on this video with my collab partner Kia, and you can check out all 10 parts here!

The second part uses Cascada's "Ready for Love" and the second season of Birdy the Mighty: Decode (and all episodes save 5 and 11), with the full video here!

The third part uses The Ready Set's "Love Like Woe" and Episodes 173, 268, and 993 of Detective Conan, as well as both volumes of the Movie 23 manga and TV Special 6 (Episode One: The Great Detective Turned Small), with the full video here!

(And because English-language access to Detective Conan is limited, and I like to plug what's available when I can: there is an official English translation of the Movie 23 manga! While it's only available in Southeast Asia, MPHOnline does ship internationally, and they have a few other English-language manga titles (like Zero's Tea Time) that aren't available from Viz (and without the FUNimation dub name changes).)

Like. Why do you think toxic fh is so appealing in the first place??? I think most people recognize that cutting your king’s head off is toxic that cheating is toxic or that whatever gem and pearl has going on during Wild Life was at least a LITTLE bit toxic. But the MAIN THING (at least for me) that makes the toxic version of the ship so much more interesting that it’s not SO blatantly toxic. It’s more of uncomfortable dynamic, a creeping sense of “this couple has something else going on underneath the surface” which is really fun to analyze imo. Something something Sc0tt is in love with the idea of Jimmy rather than Jimmy himself and don’t recognize him as capable which is definitely a dynamic that’s. More fun to play around with than just murder and manipulation.

Tldr; toxic fh is not “just a way for people to be homophobic and hate on Sc0tt.” It has a different flavor of “toxic” than a lot of other relationships in the series and that’s what makes it interesting!

Idk if it's me getting older or less fandom brained but I don't really get the 'shipping' impulse for the most part. Like I have to either REALLY believe a romantic angle is being intentionally written (and I tend to go into things with a hard skeptic angle to avoid disappointment LOL), or be really desperate for a femslash option (and even then it has to be at least a little plausible to me).

Like I do get heavily invested in fictional characters' relationships but it's usually more of an 'as-is' thing. I don't really understand the appeal in putting characters together romantically/etc just because you Can.
