Colin stared down at Penelope in shock. His fiancée, the woman he would move heaven and earth for. The woman whose ground he worships is none other than Lady Whistledown.

The vile prolific writer who had destroyed Lady Crane’s reputation; nearly exploded Eloise’s reputation; and what she did to Daphne.

It was all Penelope…

This must be the reason she and Eloise fell out.

With tears rolling down her cheeks, she looked up at him with shining eyes. “Do not worry, I will see myself out, Mr. Bridgerton.”

She turned around and left Bridgerton House, Colin had been frozen but unfrozen too late as he missed catching her fingertips and the door shut behind her. “Damn it!” He exclaimed, thudding one of his fists to the door, the other dropping the parchment. He soon had two hands on the door; one in a fist, with the other flat. “Come back, Pen.”

Eloise watched with wide eyes as her other brother, the one who had always been there to play in the nursery after their father died, started to cry as he rested against the door. “Colin?”

He stood straight up and looked over his shoulder at his sister - the one who forced the confession out of Penelope. “You,” he growled. “I hope you’re happy,” he collected the parchment from the floor and shoved it into her hands. “Thanks to you, I may have just lost Penelope forever.”

With those words, he walked up the stairs to his childhood as tears started to roll down his face tenfold.

Eloise looked down at the parchment. ‘Dearest gentle reader, it has come to this author’s attention of the pending engagement ball between Mr Colin Bridgerton and Miss Penelope Featherington. Could this be the next Bridgerton love match or has Miss Featherington tied down the third-born Bridgerton?’

I don’t regret it one bit, ‘cause he had it coming. They said I did something bad! Then why does it feel so good?

The next ball to be hosted would be held by the Bridgerton’s, and with every group that arrived - his hope dropped slightly. Was Penelope coming? He knew they had so much to talk about. He could not imagine their somewhat short courtship/engagement coming to such an abrupt end.

“Do not worry, dearest, Penelope will come,” Violet told her son.

He gave his mama a somewhat tight smile, he had not spoken a word to Eloise since he found her role in revealing Pen’s secret.

Then, when the doors opened, there were the Featherington’s. All dressed in ‘happy sunshine yellow’.

Including his Pen.

Colin’s eyebrows furrowed as he watched her quickly blend into the crowd, manoeuvring her way to the food and drink table.

She was so focused on hiding away from the ton, she stood on some toes. Belongings to Eloise Bridgerton.

“Oh. I am ever so sorry, Miss Bridgerton,” she said, before walking away from the family, straight to the food and drink table.

“Why did Penelope not say hello?” Violet asked.

Colin set his drink down. “I will go see her.”

They never see it comin’, what I do next. This is how the world works, you gotta leave before you get left.

The first person to catch Penelope was Lady Agatha Danbury. “Well, Miss Featherington. Hiding away in our yellow dress again, are we?”

Penelope’s face flushed a little. “I am afraid so, Lady Danbury. I just could not imagine the eyes of the ton on me for another night,” she lies.

Agatha knew Penelope was lying, but allowed her the grace of not being called out. “Indeed, the ton can be a cruel mistress,” they were silent as they observed society. “I do hope you will return to your green dresses, perhaps they may be Bridgerton blue soon.”

Penelope laughed a little. “Someday. I hope, if I am to ever have a baby girl of my own, I would like to name her after you.”

Agatha rested her hand over her heart. Considering she had all sons, this was a true honour. “When you have your daughter, I would be truly honoured.”

“I have been honoured to call you my friend.”

I can feel the flames on my skin. He says, “Don’t throw away a good thing.”

Just as Colin was about to speak to Penelope, she pivoted on her feet and made her way for the Bridgerton’s garden.

He let out a silent sigh through his nose and followed her out to the garden. Which was when he spotted her talking to Benedict.

“What happened between you and Eloise?”

“There is not enough time in the world to explain what happened between us.”

“Pen?” She turned her head and finally locked eyes with Colin. “Can we talk?”

This was it. This was the end. Thankfully, Colin hadn’t given her a betrothal ring yet.

She nodded her head got up from the swing and made her way over to where Colin was taking her (away from the earshot of society).

“Pen-“

“I know what this is about.”

“You do?” Colin asked.

She looks down at the hem of her yellow which had the tips of her shoes poking out. “You cannot look at me the same, it would be best if we end our engage-”

“No! No! That is not what I want, ever!” Colin said, looking over his shoulders to see if anyone was watching them (there wasn’t, really, there was only Benedict), he stepped forward and cupped her face with his hands. “For the past month, you have been all I have thought about. I have imagined what our life would be like after we are married. What our children might look like.”

“You’ve imagined us having children?”

“I have,” Colin nods. “How many children we have is entirely up to you. As you are the one who would bring them into the world.”

Penelope smiled up at him. “I may have promised to name our first daughter after Lady Danbury…”

“What is Lady Danbury’s first name?”

“Agatha.”

Colin rolled the name around in his mouth. “Agatha Bridgerton. Aggie.”

“Aggie Bridgerton,” Penelope nodded. “She sounds perfect.”

“With you as her mama. She will be.”

OR we’re actually getting divorced Polin at the same time as married Polin?? Because there’s something that some people have noticed and I find it strange. Married Polin on the day of their wedding are not smiling like they usually are when they’re around each other

Like weird right??? So it’s either the shots we got and we have a feeling they’re not in absolute bliss (I won’t say they’re not happy because I’m pretty much convinced they still are) or it’s that there’s just too much going on for them to be completely blissed out.

I know people have said it’s a happy wedding but what if we get a happy exchange of vows and the rest is bittersweet? What if the wedding is the end of ep7 and this scene

Is actually the start of ep8? It would make more sense why they’re sleeping in the same flat. It’d just be that much more angsty, because what do you mean they get married and they’re still not on great terms so they spend their first night as a married couple separated??? He offers her the bed, the bed they’ve already slept in together might I add, and he takes the couch. It would also explain why no one is talking about a wedding night in all the sex scenes we will get

i was rereading a bit of the viscount who loved me last night and i was reading the part where penelope and kate are walking to dinner together in aubrey hall and then cressida is a bitch to penelope and anthony swoops in and escorts her to dinner. like we were really robbed of penelope's friendship with kate and anthony in s2 and it makes me sad.

i hope in season 3 kate and anthony have scenes with penelope. like so bad.

I think in season 3 we need to have Ed visiting Izzy’s grave regularly. Like in the first episode we look at Ed and Stede’s life as innkeepers and it’s become a daily thing that Ed will go to Izzy’s grave and sit with him. Sometimes he just sits there in silence, sometimes he cries, sometimes he talks to him about his day, sometimes he rehashes old memories of the two of them from the good ol’ days. Most of the time he does it alone but some days Stede goes with him to support him when it’s too painful. No matter what he goes every day.

This also is the perfect opportunity to bring Con back to film some flashbacks from before season 1

I wonder if the main conflict of part two of this season will be

finding out about Lady Whistledown or if it's going to be Colin being jealous about Pen's writing like what I remember from the book. Though maybe it wasn't that big of a deal in the book either because, honestly, I don't remember much about what I read.

Okay so the paper shown in the last still is the one Cressida publishes saying she is Whistledown I'm pretty sure, because it's horizontal, not vertical like all of Whistledown's other papers. And the look on Colin's face is one of worry and fear. I think, just by inference, that Colin knows about Pen being LW by then. We can't tell if he's looking at Pen, the one with her standing at the door could be unrelated but she does look worried too. He could just be worried because she looks worried but I'm hoping by this point he knows about LW.

So coming to the ask do you think jikook would throw the potato in the air and just stay together in jk's new fortress?? Is it true that they used to spend their life together in a house because we know that jk nearly lost his mind over jm in early 2023 in his lives. I don't think we was simply having those lives for fun. I do really believe that he was infact struggling or like distracting himself over his lack of jiminie time. We know that this has not happened prior to the solo era as jk in lives was completely different from jk in ot7 era

The first part of your ask, I'll answer that at the end of this post.

Let's start with the second part.

Do I think they were living together?

Yes. I do. I think the speculation about Jikook living together started when this video dropped:

Yoongi is teasing Jimin about watching their old videos. And Jungkook joins in saying he also watched the old videos. He says "I was at home with him". The him in question being Jimin cause it was Jimin who was getting teased.

But I think they were sharing living spaces (not exactly living together in a house of their own) since their shared dorm days. Have you noticed the video of the members packing before their BV Season 3 trip?

We see Jungkook sitting on a mattress in a walk in closet, packing for the trip. Then it looks like he walked straight out of that closet into Jimin and Hoseok's room.

This is the same closet where he filmed this video:

I think he was living in that walk in closet which is attached to Jimin and Hoseok's room. We have already seen countless times how Jimin and Hoseok tease Jungkook about how he's coming into their shared bedroom at nights. Jungkook even left his toothbrush next to Jimin's. Also, just keep in mind that Hoseok already bought his own apartment (Trimage) in 2016.

There's also this interesting fact about the timing of Jikook's apartment purchases. Jimin bought his first apartment in 2018 as an investment. It was getting rebuilt. Jungkook also bought his apartment (Trimage) in 2018 where Hoseok also has an apartment. And it was clear that Jimin was living together with Jungkook in 2019 and 2020 cause his apartment was not livable. This is clear from how Jungkook told in BV Season 4 that he only saw Jimin and Hoseok during their break in 2019. The trio was also often seen sharing car rides to official schedules cause they were coming from the same place.

In 2021 Jimin bought his Nine One apartment in the same complex as Namjoon. Now, Jungkook sold his Trimage apartment in 2020, handed over his Yongsan Apartment to his brother in Dec 2020 and bought a house in Itaewon in 2021 but it was let on rent. So, he had no place to live while Jimin had. So, probably they were living together in Jimin's apartment at this time. It actually slips out from Namjoon during this live:

Namjoon says "our house". Namjoon and Jimin are neighbors. But here its just him and Jungkook. So, the "our" implies that Jungkook's living together with Jimin.

Also, there's Bam being more familiar and comfortable around Jimin compared to the other members which we got to see in ITS Season 2. And Jimin mentioning how Bam used to fall asleep in Jimin's arms with his nose nuzzled into Jimin's forearms.

Now shall we revisit the times Jikook made it obvious that they were living together?

1) Jimin saying how both him and Jungkook were together at 4am (It was Jungkook's birthday) when they got the news of Dynamite being No. 1 in BBHot100

2) Jin calling Jimin on his birthday live where Jimin says he's with Jungkook

3) Jimin saying how waking up in the morning and seeing Jungkook's face makes him happy. Thus, implying they share a bedroom together

4) Jungkook wanted to make the LGO MV as realistic as possible so he showed him and Jimin to be sharing a room and also teased Jimin about his morning breath

5) In 2020 BTS Festa Jimin was talking about how he wants to be together with the members as BTS for a long time and Jungkook pipes in to add how Jimin told him the same thing the previous day

6) Jimin being super familiar with Jungkook's sleeping habits. Jimin explaining how Jungkook's face changes while sleeping in the behinds of Lights MV. Jimin imitating how Jungkook snores in ITS Season 1. It was very detailed too. Like how the snoring starts and then revs up. Jimin talks about this again in ITS Season 2

7) Jungkook waiting for Jimin in RUN BTS 127 even though he won the rock, paper, scissor game

8) All those times they jokingly complain about having to wait for the other to finish up so that they can leave for home

10) Jimin was Project Manage for BE and asked everyone to mail him their proposals to which Jungkook replied like this:

11) Jimin saying that Jungkook takes 50 mins in the shower. The other members seem surprised by this information (Radio Disney Interview 2019)

12) Jimin knowing how Jungkook's alarm sounds though Jungkook said that he keeps changing it constantly

14) Jikook arriving together late for the MBC Radio Show. They were also seen leaving together

15) BTS is gifted knives in the Run BTS cooking episode. All the members are gifted one each. But Jungkook says "We got 2 knives" referring to Jimin's and his knives together

16) Jimin says that he likes to be dressed down while at home to which Hoseok adds " And Jungkook's in charge of the music" to which Jimin completely stills for a second ( Jimin, Hoseok, Taehyung live where Jungkook also later joins in)

16) Arriving together at the airport for their flight (UNGA 2021)

17) Jikook and Jin return to SK after PTD LA. Jungkook and Jin arrives first. Jungkook waits for Jimin to arrive, but gets separated at the cars for quarantine (Dec 6 2021)

Jungkook posts a story on his Instagram (Dec 9 2021)

18) In 2021 Jikook were spotted several times by K ARMY in the district where Jimin's apartment is located at. Their voting district was also the same. They were also spotted taking covid tests at the same health clinic. Those tests are taken in the health clinic based on the district you live in (Jimin's apartment, Jungkook's apartment and Jungkook's house are all located in 3 different districts)

I'm quite certain there's more of these proofs some of which we haven't even seen.

All these basically is confirmation that Jikook were living together.

Now let's see what happened once BTS announced their hiatus in group activities in Festa 2022.

There's so much confusion among the fans regarding this news. And Jungkook comes live as a part of damage control on June 16 2022 from Brunnen apartment. This is the first time we get to see this place. This place is not under his name and had a few furniture pieces from their shared dormitory.

The next live happens on Sept 1 2022 (his birthday) from the same place. We know that its a tradition for the members to do a live on their birthdays. So, thats what this live basically is. He also promotes his photo book then continues the live by singing songs and talking with ARMY.

His next live is on Nov 21 2022 after his Dreamers performance at the World Cup. Its from his hotel room in Qatar.

So, after the hiatus was announced he did only 3 lives. 1st live to reassure ARMY, 2nd live a birthday live and the 3rd after his World Cup Performance.

And then its 2023. Jimin is super busy preparing for his Solo Debut.

Jungkook comes live on Feb 1 2023, midnight. He did this live by his own choice, not authorized by the company. He sings songs including Vibe. Namjoon and Taehyung leaves comments.

The next live is on Feb 3 2023, midnight. Jungkook lights up on seeing Jimin's comment. He invites him over to have chicken. But Jimin is busy, on schedule even at midnight.

The next live is on Feb 11 2023. This time its from his boxing gym. Jimin comments. Jungkook and his boxing coach invites him for boxing. From this interaction we get to know that Jikook have the same boxing coach. Later a stalker leaks a video of him at the same gym, training.

The next live is on Feb 28 2023, noon. He deletes his Instagram the same day.

In March, Jimin's busy schedule continues. Jungkook goes live again on March 3 2023.

Jimin flies to NY on March 13 2023 for his promotions. And the next Jungkook live happens on March 14 2023 (White Day). He does 3 lives back to back and something interesting to note is he wears a different outfit for each of these lives. A black jacket for first live, a white shirt for the second and for the last one a purple hoodie. Jungkook's the only other artist who was featured for a song in FACE, Jimin's album which Jimin said is too personal and that's why he did not want other artists to feature in it. Guess this does not apply to Jungkook, right???!! Cause Jungkook's an important part of his personal life.

Jungkook comes live again on March 28 2023 to watch Jimin's Suchwita. This is the first time he's watching Yoongi's show. Cause obviously Jimin was the guest this time. He also watches SMF pt2 and other Jimin videos.

Jimin does a live on March 29 2023 and Jungkook spams it with 19 comments. This is where he says "I'm Hyung's fan".

At this point, all of Jungkook's March lives had only one intention, to promote his bf's Solo debut. He was so loud and obvious about it.

Jimin goes live on April 3 2023 from his house. If you watch the live you'll notice that there's another gaming chair next to his own (he panicked when he showed it accidentally on camera) which is the same one Jungkook has in his studio. And in my opinion Jimin was not alone at his house. Jungkook's also there with him.

Also, in this live someone comments "I'm Jungkook's wife" to which Jimin's reply is "I think Jungkook's sleeping". Why? Cause Jungkook's sleeping in the next room? I think thats why he's speaking in a low voice. So, that he doesn't disturb his bf who's sleeping in the next room.

On April 8 2023 Jungkook does a short live where he says he had no intention of doing it. He's seen folding his CK briefs and out of them a red brief is seen which is smaller in size compared to the rest. And in AYS we see Jimin wearing CK briefs. Jimin's usually seen wearing Armani briefs for special events and concerts. He never really wore CKs except for that one photoshoot where BTS collaborated with CK for their LY Tear photoshoot.

We saw how Jungkook altogether avoids the topic of ms when Jimin brings it up in the first episodes of AYS when it was still uncertain if they'll be able to enlist together. And then he takes a 180, starts talking about ms in AYS Jeju when its confirmed that Jikook are enlisting as companion soldiers.

We hear from Jimin in AYS Jeju that he had a sleepover at Jungkook's house the previous day.

So, its obvious that Jikook who were living together prior to Jimin's Solo debut preparations were forced to spent time apart due to their schedules. However, I think they were having a lot of sleepovers at each other's house whenever possible.

I also think one of the main reasons Jungkook was letting us see his house was because he was gonna move out soon. We also got Jimin who let us us see some parts of his house during one of his lives. And then we hear that some of Jimin's furnitures from his apartment are seen at his Dad's cafe once he started his ms.

Yes. I think so. Because thats what they have been doing all these years. Living together and sharing a home. So, I assume that's what they're gonna do once they get back. Now let's wait and see what they'll do once they are back after having served their country.

again apologies if someone has already done something like this, but I’m procrastinating doing my coursework and just want to talk about hatchetfield I want everyone to be aware of this exciting stuff that was announced in the stream so here you go:

nightmare time 3 was originally planned to be released in the same year as nightmare time 2 and will wrap up the overarching nightmare time stories (which seem to be miss holloway and the foster sisters respectively).

if they did a fourth hatchetfield musical, it would be about miss holloway and her backstory. it is already written. I am very very extremely normal about this fact 😃

there is a possibility of a hatchetfield movie, and workin’ boys was sort of a test for this concept. it would be a slasher murder mystery centering around the hatchetfield community players (zoey chambers and the cast of workin’ girls, possibly also with ruth, hidgens, alice and any other theatre-oriented characters but that part’s just my speculation). the transcription of the teaser description can be found below the nmt descriptions.

okay so the beginning of this season going towards the middle was like. genuinely dominated by discussion of who would end up with the second factory ducati seat, and there were 3 main candidates for the position: 1. enea bastianini, who had the seat but who had had a spotty 2023 marred by injury and was delivering inconsistent results in the early part of 2024, 2. jorge martin, who had been basically promised the seat ahead of them uno reversing and signing enea, and who had contended for the title the year before/was leading the world championship early in 2024, and 3. marc marquez, 8 time world champion and arguable GOAT of the sport, who was doing insane comeback rides on a year old bike that he had very little time to adapt to. on pure results, you would have to go with martin (it was p clear it wasnt going to be my girl enea....), but marc looked uh. very promising and very dangerous (apparently his data, ESPECIALLY in the left handers, was like. bonkers), and who was also undeniably a better business asset to ducati as a company trying to sell motorbikes. and as we all knowwwwww, ducati had BY FARRRR the most dominant bike on the grid, so they are staring down the barrel of like. deciding between three excellent riders for one, extremely coveted seat. they think they hold all the cards here, and after a bit of rampant speculation the ducati bosses say everybody calm the fuck down we will make a decision about the gp25 seat at MUGELLO. forza. and with that the stage is set.

but again. ducati had basically promised jorge martin that seat. in fact, there was a provision in his contract that said if he won the world title in 2023, he would automatically be promoted to the factory team. like if marc doesnt come in on his merry way essentially doing a year long AUDITION for that seat up-to and including crowd-commanding theatrics, then it is undeniably martin's bike to have. and it looks like ducati kinda thought they should honor that too! because it was reported (unofficially but through a multitude of reliable sources) on the thursday before mugello that jorge martin WOULD be signing with the factory ducati team to be in red for 2025 IMMINENTLY. and he shows up to the presscon with the moon shinging out of his ass and we didnt rlly have a reason to doubt him so things are looking pretty locked up tbh

so another piece of the puzzle. for the last few years one cog in the wheel of ducati's dominance has been them having EIGHT bikes on the grid, and as such having insane amounts of data to comb through and synthesize while developing the bike. at the time, the team with the most factory support is pramac racing. but YAMAHA have made a promise to a young shirtless man named fabio quartararo that they will get a satellite team for 2024 to help with THEIR efforts, and pramac's contract with ducati is expiring so theyre the top choice. yamaha offers them a fuck you amount of cash and full factory support to leave ducati and come run the M1s with them. and the thing is, it is EXPENSIVE to run an independent team and this sugar daddy style deal would essentially lock down their immediate future quite nicely, so they are thinking HARD about this— because if they lose jorge martin like. what the fuck are they doing not taking that deal. and YOU are asking me girl what the fuck does this had to do with marc marquez WELLLLL. ducati know that marc wants a gp25. and pramac has the factory spec bikes. and marc's famous ass is a VERY valuable little bargaining chip in their eyes. so ducati APPARENTLY wanted marc on the same deal jorge martin was on (complete with the promise of factory promotion if he won the championship) at PRAMAC in order to keep marc, jorge martin, and pramac all under the umbrella of ducati racing. they think problem solved :) we get to keep everything and everyone :) marc gets a current spec bike, jorge gets to be on the factory team, and we can still run eight bikes :) awesome.

WELL! marc catches wind of all of this and goes. fuck you i want to be a factory rider on a gp25. like why on earth would he move from busted satellite team to busted satellite team that doesnt even have his BROTHER ? so instead of keeping all of these negotiations behind closed doors he trots right the fuck up to the press at mugello and says hello yes i have ABSOLUTELY no intention of riding for pramac, in fact i only have the intention of riding with factory teams. big smile. fuck you. press run wild. domino tipped. pramac pissed off. ducati SWEATING.

AND i guess the ducati CEO (claudioooooo) was there. and some big sponsorship guys (audiiiiiii) were there. and it has been LONG been reported that gigi daligna really wanted marc for that seat (and that pecco REALLY didnt lmao). like bad. some would say carnally. and then i guess they looked at his data. and thought about how well he had already adapted to the gp23. and how badly he was beating bez and company. and i suppose the idea of actually losing marc and him going to a KTM or an aprilia scared the actual genuine NIPS off of these guys and literally by sunday night they had apparently called jorge martin to let him know that it wasnt going to be him and he went over to aleix and got that aprilia contract signed genuinely immediately (and enea later signed with ktm and pramac with yamaha). so the aprilia news was announced on monday and we knew marc was the choice from that, and then they announced it officially in the dumbest smuggest little video of all time a lil while after. but not before marc took a selfie in a shirt that said FACTORY PILOT that he later lied about and said wasnt on purpose. king. done and dusted. insanity.

so to recap: in the course of four days, marc essentially pulled a coup out of thin air by just. deciding to exercise some muscle with the press, which caused ducati to lose two bikes, secured the best seat on the grid for himself, and made sure that two of the riders that finished top four in this year's championship (including the CHAMPION) are on much worse machines going into next year. like he literally created the best possible outcome for himself by virtue of his reputation, media savvy, and sheer force of will. it was absolute crazy shit and SO much fun to watch play out live

I’m kind of obsessed with the Jonmartin timeline and how Jon slowly fell in love with Martin, mostly off tape over seasons 2 and 3. I wrote a little bit of an essay trying to pinpoint the shifts and moments when we can tell something has changed. I love fanfics but I am just so interested in trying to figure out what happened in canon as close as possible. Of course this does involve speculation of emotions that we have no way of actually knowing because Jon Sims does not talk about his feelings.

Anyway it’s long-ish.

Jon fell in love with Martin over season 2 but didn’t start to realize it until late season 3 just before The Unknowing.

Martin starts the show with a crush on Jon. In MAG 22 when Martin makes his statement about the worms Jon feels guilty over how all of the pressure he’s put Martin under drives him to put himself in danger and he has Martin move into the archives to protect him which may be the first caring gesture he has made towards Martin but it’s a big one. Martin, who had a decent size crush on Jon beforehand, is blown away by this and his crush becomes a real big one.

Jon tries to continue being hard on Martin but he does noticeably soften towards him. His criticisms are half-hearted.

During Jane Prentice’s attack when Martin and Jon are in document storage Martin calls Jon out and properly snaps at him for dismissing the supernatural and Jon actually sees Martin in this moment for the first time. Martin had never talked back to him in such a way and Jon can now see him as not just his assistant who makes a lot of mistakes but as an equal who might know better than him in some aspects. They have their heart to heart and Jon is able to be honest for the first time since taking this job. He admits he’s scared and it’s okay, well it’s not okay because Jane Prentice might be moments away from killing them, but Martin doesn’t think any less of him. And then Jon asks if Martin is a ghost and he’s wrong and it was stupid but Martin makes fun of him in a way that doesn’t hurt and Jon isn’t used to that. And Martin, seeing this open and fragile and slightly dumb part of Jon, starts falling in love.

After Martin finds Gertrude’s body Jon is one track minded and focused on finding out what happened. Martin, giving his statement about the tunnels, is in tears not because he found a body and was scared, but because he accidentally left Jon. Jon was too distracted with finding answers at the moment but he heard it and absorbed it over time.

Season 2 Jon is full of nothing but paranoia and is unwilling to trust anyone but it’s his obsessive observations that lead him to getting to know Martin enough to love him. When Jon tries to come back from leave early Martin forces Jon to go home and rest more. Jon wonders what Martin is hiding but reasons that, no Martin is actually concerned about his health. Jon thinks Martin gave him a fake jar of ashes to calm him down, he doesn’t seem to think this gesture is part of a conspiracy, he genuinely thinks of this gesture as Martin lying to him to make him feel better. Jon notes that Martin has been very attentive to his needs and recovery and that he is interested to hear Jon’s theories about Gertrude. He remarks that he has observed Martin’s competence and cunning. Of course Jon is ridiculously paranoid and interprets this attention as some kind of plot against him to slow down his investigation and sees these positive attributes of Martin as reasons to see him as a threat, but again, Jon is absorbing it all. The lines in Jon’s supplementals about Martin’s attention to him implies that they’re spending a lot of time together off tape, at least more than they ever used to, probably at Martin’s insistence and Jon accepting this time by justifying to himself that he needs to watch Martin.

In MAG 53 Jon mentions that Martin hovers near him when he goes to the canteen and Martin says it’s because he’s concerned (based on Jon’s lie about how he got the cut from Michael). Martin offers to pick up a sandwich from the cafe and bring it back for Jon. He doesn’t ask Jon to come with him and Jon acts like he’s annoyed to be around Martin when he sits with him in the canteen, but Jon decides, No instead of me refusing the gesture for food or saying yes please pick up that sandwich for me, he says “I’ll come with” making another decision to spend time with Martin when he doesn’t have to. Maybe Jon tries to justify this to himself again by saying he’s keeping an eye on Martin but Jon has made no efforts to go spend extra time with Tim, who was an equal suspect, even before Tim was mad at Jon. (And may I add, if Jon tried this tactic with Tim, going out to lunch, watching him by spending time with him etc. maybe Tim wouldn’t have ended up being so angry with Jon.) But Jon is definitely making the effort to spend time with Martin when it frankly has nothing to do with his investigation no matter how he tries to spin it.

In MAG 56 when Jon makes Martin tell him what he’s been hiding and he finds out Martin had lied on his CV he is so relieved that he is giddy. He is smiling, laughing and stuttering. To Jon’s ‘rational’ mind this doesn’t fully clear Martin of suspicion but emotionally this really seems to be a weight off of his shoulders. On a subconscious level he can start to allow the time they’ve spent together to mean something other than just spying.

Meanwhile Martin can see what a hard time Jon is having and he can see him spinning out of control with paranoia and Martin tries really hard to defend him, maybe not the best thing, we know Martin is a bit of an enabler for Jon, but for Jon’s emotional arc of falling in love with Martin it is important that Jon hears Martin defending him to Tim in MAG 58. Martin never stops calling Jon out on his shit like when he tells Jon that he needs to talk to Tim and that Tim isn’t wrong but nowadays it feels like everyone is constantly calling Jon out, not that he doesn’t deserve it, but when Martin calls him out it’s still clear that he cares, whereas anyone else talking to Jon just seems to speak to him with malice.

At the beginning of season 3 Jon is hiding out and staying at Georgie’s place. We know from Season 4 MAG 149 that Jon used to go on about Martin to Georgie “a lot”. Georgie got the full story about The Archives in MAG 93 and Jon decides to move out of Georgie’s place in MAG 99 when he was then kidnapped by The Circus. There’s usually a week of time that passes between episodes unless otherwise implied and 93 and 94 take place over the same conversation on the same day so I’ll assume 5 weeks in which Jon was going on about Martin a lot with full context. He probably talked about him before then too only more cryptically. Importantly though in the Season 4 Q&A Alex asks, Who knew that Jon liked Martin first, Jon or Martin? And Jonny said “Georgie” so even though Jon didn’t know it yet, he was obviously smitten (at least obvious to Georgie who has dated Jon and recognizes signs of affection and romance in him more than anyone else would).

When Jon talks to Martin in MAG 102 there is a very slight almost imperceptible sweetness in Jon’s voice that we’ve never heard before. The way he assures Martin that it’s ok that he didn’t know he was kidnapped. There is a lot of awkwardness and frankly a lot of heavy breathing from both of them for probably just standing there. Their casual talk about the overall institute and Hannah who is having her baby and had that thing with the milk in the break room last year, Jon doesn’t know who she is but Martin knows that Jon knows her probably because they had been around her together since they spent so much time together last year but Jon was too paranoid and she had nothing to do with the plot, it’s just a very normal and domestic moment. Jon tells Martin he knows he’s been reading statements and Martin is just worried Jon will be jealous that he’s taking some of his job but instead Jon is just concerned for him. It’s different and they both know it’s different and they can both feel the conversation is charged with something but they don’t know what. “It’s not too late. Unless the world ends” means a lot in this conversation, yes it does literally mean it’s not too late for them to talk and continue whatever friendship they were stumbling towards in season 2. It’s not too late for them to pick up this weird, oddly charged and tender conversation that may be leading somewhere else. It’s also foreshadowing that it sort of is too late because their world will end when Jon effectively dies stopping the Unknowing.

By MAG 114 Jon says that he has listened to all of the tapes and has therefore heard the gossip about he and Martin. I think something clicked in his brain when he heard that Martin has a crush on him. He probably never considered that idea because things like romance are never on the forefront of his mind especially when he is in active danger, which he has been for the last 2 years, and even more so he wouldn’t expect someone to have feelings for him in general. Being conscious of the notion that Martin has feelings for him lead him to consider all of the strange feelings he’s been having about Martin over the last year and a half in a way that he might not have gotten to on his own until much later. It’s all part of the plan that Jon suggests Martin stay back at the Institute in front of Elias but Jon is genuinely relieved that Martin will be safer there.

In MAG 117 Jon talks about Daisy and Basira’s bond and how he’s been having to do everything by himself. He’s envious of their bond and we can tell he’s been thinking about how things could be if he had someone (Martin) by his side. I don’t think this part of his testament would have played out this way had he not been thinking a lot since he heard the tape. When he addresses the “office gossip” he is flustered. Possibly embarrassed that Georgie, who he trusts, was giving out this personal information to Melanie but I actually think he’s used to that specific type of gossip about him and I think that the nervous stutter and searching for words comes from trying to address the other part of the gossip, which he is still trying to wrap his head around.

It isn’t confirmed but I do think that Jon listened to everyone’s testimony before leaving and he heard Martin’s “I need him to be ok”. Later in MAG 139 Jon says “I need him to be okay. I just do.” I don’t think he’s consciously repeating the same phrase but I think this phrase has lived with him ever since he heard Martin say it and now it’s just organic to Jon too.

I genuinely do believe that at this point, as of MAG 117, all of Jon’s feelings for Martin are already there and internally he has at least accepted romantic feelings even if he wouldn’t have called it love then.

Jon is put in a 6 month coma the next night and is in a full tilt romantic arc the moment he wakes up. Not 20 minutes after waking from his coma he wants to see Martin, he’s surprised that Martin wasn’t there for him the moment he woke up. Maybe if you asked him the next day he’d say it was a silly notion for him to just expect Martin to be there at any given point no matter when he woke up, but a part of him accepted and knew that if Martin could have he would have been there.

Anyway, all this is to say that if he woke up from a coma desperately in love with Martin all of those feelings had to have been present before the coma. I know there was a lot more thought and consideration and emotional work that Jon had to do over season 4 before he could have been ready for his love to literally save Martin but all of the feelings were there by the time he woke up.

The hug might be from the reunion between them from toward the end of The Vampire Lestat.

Now, granted, that would mean that:

Rockstar Lestat happened in the past, probably in the 1980s still. And that,

Louis going to the Moss House would have to have occurred way before the year 2000. Like, at least before 1985 or thereabouts. Or, his going there might actually be about something else altogether.

For the first point, I've always felt that Lestat's rockstar career already happened in the past. And that the setup for it would be quite easy to do IMO, even without the ITWV book having not been published. And that it just makes more sense to me for it to have still happened back in the 1980s instead of happening in the present day.

But what you said here about the jacket Lestat is wearing in the hug scene is what just made it click for me that this very well could be from when Lestat and Louis finally met again during Lestat's rock career; which he not only did to try and protect Louis but to find Louis again as well. Because that jacket looks pretty new-ish and, as you said, modern. Not worn, old, or threadbare, which is what I would more expect from a Lestat living in an old moss-covered shack.

Now, as to the second point, I'm not going to pretend that I know a lot about cars. But is there any possible way that by at least getting cars from before 2000, they could fudge the exterior shots a bit, to at least make it look like Louis is there in the late-70s or even the very early 1980s looking for Lestat? And, if not, then maybe Louis goes to that house for another reason than to look for Lestat which, whatever it may be, becomes the reason why he stops trying to feed on humans in the year 2000? I honestly don't have any idea why or what that could be, but . . .

Anyway, I do agree with you 100% that the scene isn't Louis and Lestat reuniting in the present day with him having left Dubai. For the simple reason that, unless the show is going to break its own setup with this that it established in Season 1, all the present-day scenes are seen from Daniel's POV. If Daniel isn't around for it in 2022, then we, the audience, don't see it. So for that scene to be Louis and Lestat reuniting in the present, with Louis having left Dubai to go find him then, as the show has currently set it up, Daniel would have had to go with him. And I really don't think that is the case here.

So yeah, at the moment, I think that hug is from the Rockstar era, which still happened in the 1980s, just like in the book. And that note about the jacket, and the style of it, is what clicks it, at least for me.

Heeey , Nalyra !!! If Louis's suicide scene occurs, how would it work with that scene where he hugs Lestat, possibly in NOLA? I'm confused . Would the suicide event occur before or after the meeting in NOLA?

It could be NOLA, yes, if it is, then it's likely the disputed-to-have-never-happened-in-the-books scene... and if that is it then I think that is in the year 2000. (They were looking for trucks for the street which are older than that, which was interesting.)

So it would be after the NOLA meeting.

I do not think we will get a full Loustat reunion this season, at least not in the sense of the word.

But, of course, Lestat has to show up somehow for season 3. :)

If that hug is not NOLA though then I take it for an hallucination.
